I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is there a way to change the default font size of the Arabic font of choice in IE? I see where I can choose which font, but I don't see an option for its size, other than changing all fonts. Roman letters appear much larger than Arabic and to enlarge all to accomodate Arabic makes the Roman letters huge!

The alternative might be to locate an Arabic font that is inherently larger and add that to the list of options, but I don't know what font that would be nor how to add it to the list in IE8.

There has to be a way. Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks a million!

A:my font keeps changing size on it's own

I have just purchased an HP 15 Touchscreen two days ago AND IT IS DRIVING ME MAD As I am typing a document, the font is continually minimising to the smallest font possible AND the screen splits into two and four.   Additionally, my e-mails now will only type in the most enormous font - say 40 so that I am only able to see one line of typing on a screen.   Whilst all this is happening, my toolbar has not altered at all and still features my Font Size 11 that I always use.

If changing the Display resolution isn't working (Control Panel - Appearance and Personalization - Display - Screen Resolution "Make text and other items larger or smaller") isn't doing it, Windows IE 8 has a tab in the lower right corner to jack up the resolution in the browser. For sites that have small text on parts of them, you can jump the resolution from 125% to 150, or better.

Here's another suggestion from Dwarf, in an earlier thread:

"Try this. Click Tools and Internet Options. On the General tab, under Appearance, click Accessibility. In the Formatting section, click to check (place a tick) the option Ignore font sizes specified on webpages and then click OK twice."

In WinXP, there was an option in the display settings where I could increase the font DPI. This ONLY increased the windows program fonts and affected little else. So the text under the icons was small, as was the text in various dialog boxes. However, it would have NO effect whatsoever on web pages. Images were unchanged, fonts were unchanged.

Is this possible in Windows 7? I want to see web pages at their original resolution and change them individually if I want to.

I would love to know a way to reduce Win7's text and other items on my screen by choosing a percentage lower then it's default of 100% (IE: 96 dpi). I became perplexed when I found out that Win7 wouldn't allow me to go below 100% (Appearance and Personalization > Display). I don't have the answer to your question, but I am curious why you would want to do this? You must still have very good eyesight...I have to increase the size of the fonts.

Is there a way by which I can change the font type and size across Win 7 and all the programs/ apps (including IE9 RC) that are on my machine?

A:Changing Font size/ type globally in Win 7

You're welcome to try all of the items in my list of methods to change fonts. You can pick and choose multiple settings, to see what works best for you.

1. This is the one of the main setting tools for setting various locations of Windows font sizes. Right-click on the Desktop and go to Personalize, Window Color and Appearance. Click on Advanced, and in the drop-down menu, select the item that controls the location where you wish to change the font size. (Note: the last one, Window, does not have an option to control font size.)

2. DPI - Right click on Desktop, Personalize, On Personalization Page, go to left column to: Adjust Font size ? DPI, DPI Scaling: Click on Large scale (120 DPI), and click Apply.

3. Screen Resolution: Right-click on the Desktop, choose Screen Resolution, click on the down-arrow at the end of the Resolution box, and pick the desired resolution. Check OK.

4. Display: Right-click on the Desktop, select Personalize, then Display. From the 3 settings: Small, Medium, Large, if screen defaults to Medium (125% size for font and images) and that?s too large, use Small for 100% size (aka ?normal?)

5. At the lower right hand corner of every IE web page, there?s a Zoom control that lets you increase the size of every web page, and it stays at that Zoom setting for every page until/unless you change it.

6. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, General, Accessibility, Select Ignore font sizes specified on web pages. Click OK, then Apply, then OK.

7. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, uncheck all three:
Reset text size to Medium for new windows and tabs, and
Reset text size to Medium while Zooming, and
Reset Zoom level to 100% for new windows and tabs

8. Open Internet Explorer, click the Page button, click Text Size, and then select the size you want i.e. Large (Largest may be too large).

9. Ease of Access Center ? Go to either: Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Ease of Access Center, Make Your Computer Easier to Use, Explore All Settings, and click on: Make this computer easier to see (Optimize Visual Display). OR go to Control Panel, and Explore all settings. Under the following heading, Make things on the screen larger, select: Change the size of text + icons. This takes you to the dpi settings screen.

10. If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse, use command/ctrl + your scroll on a web page to increase the font size.

11. MS Office apps have a Zoom slider at the lower right hand corner of every page, that lets you increase the size of every Office app page, and it stays at that Zoom setting until/unless you change it.

12. MS Word templates: In the Ribbon or QuickAccess Bar select Styles, Normal, and when the little arrow appears, select Modify. Under Formatting you can change the default font size (12) to whatever size you wish. At the bottom of the screen select Only in this documents OR New documents based on this template. Click OK. You can change this font size setting for any/all other MS Word templates as well.

13. In IE and FireFox (for current use ? not permanent): press Ctrl and the + key to increase screen size. To reduce screen size press Ctrl and the ? key. (To restore screen size to 100% press Ctrl and 0.)

14. FireFox (permanent setting): go to Tools, Options, Content, and on that screen set the new default text size that you wish. Then, click Advanced and there are additional default text size settings. Plus, in the box that says "Minimum text size" select None, and down below, UNcheck the box that says "allow pages to choose their own fonts instead of my selections above."

15. Magnifier ? To Magnify Entire Page: Start, Search pane, and type: magnifier. When it comes up click the plus (+) sign. The entire page will magnify. OR go to: Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Ease of Access Center, Make Your Computer Easier to Use, Start Magnifier.

A:Is there a way to change the size of the default font in WordPad

To change the default font in WordPad, you would have to change the system configuration.
This is a quick way to change the font before you type anything in Wordpad. When you open WordPad, double click in the empty text area and you should see a thick selection bar instead of the thin cursor bar. This selects all, then go to the font size and change it to any size you want. Your font size should remain at the chosen setting for the entire time that you are working on the file.

I've tried the Control Panel method (Appearance & Personalization -> Display) that allows me to change the fonts for 'ICONS'. However, this option also changes the appearance of fonts in the directories/filenames, which is not what I want.

So I'm running across an issue with Win7 where my fonts seem to be changing on their own.

First I thought it must just be the settings on my browser, but its extended to my games and things as well. Steam, for instance, has changed from the default text (whatever it was) to a font that tends to overlap each other. I dont have any screen shots to show or I'd post them. Then just this morning all the text in my gmail account was italic on my home pc, but when I checked it from work it was normal.

Does anyone have any ideas? This is extremely annoying!

(My apologies if there is already a post addressing this, I couldn't easily find anything.)

Hi all,

May be a simple fix (I hope!). I want to change the default font for all Word documents and Power Point from Times New Roman to either Arial or Tahoma, but cannot find the command. I'm running Windows 7 and Office 2007.

I did this with XP a couple of years ago without a problem, but cannot find the right button to push!

I need a step by step list to make the font sizes of my return address envelopes bigger by about two levels. I am happy with the font size of the delivery address default, but the return address default is too small. The guide I found on line wasn't very helpful, as it read like brain surgery!

I have legacy Word experience using Word 97-2003, and envelope settings were much easier to select on those versions! Note that I want to keep the return address envelope font size as the default envelope setting.

I've been trying to find a way to change the default icon size in Windows 7. My machine defaults to 'small' icon size, but I prefer the 'large' one, in just about every case. Instead of needing to manually change the size for each individual folder, is there a way I can set 'large' to be the default for all folders? I couldn't find anything in the control panel and haven't been able to find a post about setting a default size in the other forum posts yet.

A:Changing default Window Size ??

This can happen if a registry value is incorrect. If you are happy making changes to your registry try this. First, set a system restore point. Next, click on Start>run. In the box type "regedit". As an extra precaution click File on the top line then select Export. Name the file "backup" and save to your desktop. Navigate to HKEY_ CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft \Internet Explorer\Main. In the right-hand pane, locate and delete the value Window_Placement by right-clicking on it and selecting delete. Click File then exit. Now open IE and maximise the window. now close IE and reopen and check the size. It should now be full-screen.
Please let me know how you get on.

Hi, there is one excel file that I have that I would like to keep a certain window size on my computer. I don't like to have to drag it back to the size I want every time I open the file. My other files don't seem to do this, once I change the size of the window it remains that size after I quit the program and re-open it. The file is protected but it seems to not want to listen to me when I try and format the window the way I want it to. Any suggestions?

A:Excel default window size keeps changing

What version of MS Office do you have?

As a general rule, once you drag the corner to the size you want and close the program, it will reopen to that same size. I don't think (but I could be wrong) that there's a way to choose a specific size for one particular document.

The only thing I can think of it to set your "restore down" to the size you want (assuming it's smaller than full screen) and then when you access that document you won't have to drag the corners but rather just click on the "restore down" icon in the top right-hand corner.

I've been struggling with an issue that I hope someone here can help resolve. A few weeks ago, I suddenly started seeing this ugly font (see images below) on many webpages.

I think this issue began right around the time I installed some other fonts, but I am not sure. Initially, I figured it was a Chrome thing but have since confirmed the issue extends to IE and Firefox, leading me to believe this is a Windows issue. By the time I tried to revert the changes via System Restore, it was too late (restore only went back a few days; maybe I need to adjust settings there?).

I tried to reset the default font but Windows does not seem to respond to that. When I click "Restore to default font settings" the button greys out but nothing else happens. No dialog box and no change in the issue.

Any ideas?

I am having much fun grappling with my displays. I say grapple because I CANNOT see the text!

I have a laptop, with a display that has up to 2048x resolution and an external monitor that does 1920x. I have tried to keep both set the same resolution so the mouse will easily go back and fort.

If I bump one setting, others seem to change. Like after an update too!

I need a script, to set, then set again, and again, the
display settings,
the custom scaling level, and
the "change only text size".

Keeping the monitor placement geometry the same would be great for me too.

Oh for a cross reference on Outlook 2013 to the system setting. I keep manipulating the view settings there too.

Probably to get started I could use a "settings display" script.

Help, please

The print shop should have no problem adjusting the print size on there equipment.
The adjustment are not made with Windows 7 they are made with the printer program that came with the printers they use.

Hi Muneeb and welcome to TSF !

You could give system restore a try : start => all programs => accessories => system tools => system restore. Select a date in bold prior to when the problem began. You won't lose any personal data but you may need to reinstall any program or update you've installed since then.

Else the system file checker can restore your system fonts. You'll need an XP install CD with service pack 2 (XP Home SP2 or XP Pro SP2 depending on the version you have installed). If your current CD hasn't got service pack 2 then you need to create a slipstreamed CD with SP2. Use one of these guides and report once you have an XP SP2 install CD :

In IE7 my default print size always starts at "shrink to fit" - I have to change to 100% - when I "X" out and come in again it is again "shrint to fit"

Can anyone tell me how to change the default to be "100%" every time I enter print preview?

A:IE7 Print Preview - change print size

I think this is controlled by your printer. From the IE7 FAQ page:
" Why do I have to reset the print options every time I open Internet Explorer?
Printing changes made within Internet Explorer are always temporary. To make changes permanently, you need to change them in Windows. For information about changing Windows print options, see Choosing print options."

I didn't see anything in that link particularly useful though ... and when I tried to simply force my printer to print at 100% through the print driver settings, it would always reset itself to Actual Size. Worth a shot for you perhaps, via Properties > Advanced > Printing Defaults > Effects (but that's when using my HP LaserJet 2420 ... will be different depending on make and model of printer, and some printers may not even support this option)

You may need to contact your printer manufacturer if it's bugging you that much, see whether your printer can handle it
