XFX GeForce 8200 AMD socket 940 memory

Q: XFX GeForce 8200 AMD socket 940 memory

I have tried to increase the amount of memory my computer has but am running into some issues. It says I can use 1066/800/667/533/400 for which there are 4 slots each of which have a led light next to them. They light up in either green for good or red for not so good. Anyway I have a total of 3 2gb memory cards (PC5400) but I always seem to get a red light on which ever one I put in the third slot.... I want to get the maximum usage out of my pc but would like to fix this problem. Any clues?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

As XFX has a really annoying system for hiding whatever minimal amount of info they have for this board of yours, it is hard to give you too much help.

The general specs for the GF 8200 chipset allow for easily 6 GB of RAM. If I interpret your question correctly, you are having trouble with the 3rd slot only and not the others. If so, don't use the troublesome slot and use the 4th slot. If that doesn't work either, your board is probably starting to fail, but then again, your board is probably starting to fail. It may well be time to move away from an AM2+ board to an AM3 or AM3+. You may also have to change your CPU and/or RAM but then again you may well still be able to get a compatible board such as this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...esult=True&SrchInDesc=ddr2&Page=1&PageSize=20

Prices are not very high and will probably only be available for the next 6 months or so as all these boards have been phased out by their makers. This is the not-so-bad news. The good news is that you will be able to use all your other parts with them.

Is it possible to update graphics cards through driver software to support next minor revisions of software?

My GeForce 8200 supports OpenGL 3.2 (in desmume ds emulator) but does not support 3.3 (as required by dolphin gc and wii emulator).

OpenGL is apparantly a lot faster on AMD than DirectX 11 so that's why I want to use it with dolphin here, even though AMD processors aren't good for emulation compared to Intel, I'm too stubborn to upgrade this machine

So, with the GeForce 8200 (8-series) is possible to upgrade the driver to support v3.3 OpenGL? I don't want massive slowdown, especially as soon I am to do netplay on dolphin ~ does anyone else do emulation-related gaming on Vista here or not? I'd be happy to play some retro stuff
------------
and don't troll about me using an emulator, I don't use dolphin for commercial games (yet) because I want to test out with opengl, only v3.0 has old opengl support and 3.5+ neeeds 3.3 opengl

I might be wrong but I don't think that has anything to do with drivers but what standard the card was designed for. That would equate to taking a directx 9 card and trying to make it work on 10 or 11.

So, I am having issues with my graphic card not displaying images through the HDMI to my TV. It worked before and all of a sudden it stopped working. The cable is good, I plugged other devices on it and it shows an image. The Nvidia Control Panel shows HDCP not capable.

Any tips to get it to work again?

How do I dld files w/ driver detective from another computer? ...or look for a source for the aforementioned original stuff?

Hi
I have an XFX GeForce 8200 based M/B running a Phenom X4 9550 (2.2Ghz) with 2 GB DDR2 800 RAM. I'm running Vista Ultimate.
The 3d Mark 2005 score (1024x768, no AA)is disastrously low at 150, while the Futuremark.com database shows a score of 1805 with a lower processor! What seems to be the problem?
Thanks.

A:Solved: Very low scores in 3dMark05 with GeForce 8200

Latest drivers from Nvidia...

But overall, it doesn't really matter as the 8200 isn't designed for playing games. The 8400 isn't either if that put things in prespective.

Even the 8600 has always been considered a weak card, especially at its original $200 price... today its $45~50.

I am getting a XFX GEFORCE 8200 motherboard for Chistmas. My question is will I be better off using the onboard video or my XFX GEFORCE 6800 video card?

David

A:Solved: Video question IE FXF GEFORCE 8200 MOBO

Even though the Geforce 6800 is an older card you'd get better gaming performance from it. If you don't play games then I'd stick with the onboard graphics for regular office/web work and video. That is as long as the 6800 is PCI-Express and not AGP.

Are you just getting the motherboard or other parts too because depending on what you have now it might not all be compatible.

is it possible to modify a tower to install a "compact" motherboard?
the motherboard is GeForce 8200 mGPU that i have laying around and i also have a spare Sharkoon AL4 tower. obviously the mother board will not fit but if i was to modify the screw holes, would this work?
i know it will fit right but really, if everything fits right and nothing is loose i shouldn't have a problem right?

A:What memory Tecra 8200 uses

Hi

I found this page about memory modules for Tecra 8200:
http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=5841&ft=m&st=3

It looks like the Tecra 8200 would support max. 512MB and you could use the 144-Pin PC133 SODIMM or 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM memory modules!

Hope I could help a little bit!

I have a 4+yr old Dell Dimension 8200 P4/200ghz that I would like to upgrade memory on. It currently has the original Rambus memory at only 256mb. Do I have to use DRAM memory or if I toss the original Rambus memory (RAMBUS INLINE MEMORY MODULE, 128, 400M, 64X16, 4C, 40) can I use a less expensive type of memory as a replacement?

Thanks

A:Dell 8200 Memory Upgrade Question

RAMBUS and DRAM are not interchangable. RAMBUS is proprietary. Please read the installing ram guide in the guide forum. The only ram you can use is from DELL itself. RAMBUS is also obsolete now.

They fit in the slots fine, but when the PC boots its beeps and displays and error saying the memory is incompatible, please replace with memory 40ns or faster!

Hi,

Thanks

After that the card detected 128 megs without a problem in windows, I was able to upgrade my drivers to 53.03, and everything still works pefectly.

Assuming that you have installed the FULL driver for the card from nvidias website and not just the windows update driver, the answer may lie in you BIOS settings.

I assume that you are on a 64 bit version of windows?

I can't point anything out specifically, but there may be settings in your BIOS WRT the video card that may limit the amount of ram is uses (AGP Aperture, etc). If you were to stick that card in to a computer with 32 bit windows you would have NOTHING left to run your OS/programs unless memory aprturing (or whatever it might be called in your BIOS) was enabled.

There are diffirent models of the same series. You just have a 128-mb version. Only way to change that is to buy a new one.

Bought myself a soltek Geforce 4 TI4200 couple days ago. Installed the lastest nvidia detonator driver. When I go to my video display properties, it listed my card on board memory as 64meg instead of 128meg. But when i reboot my comp, there it listed my card as 128MEG. Anyone know the solution to this? And do i get any downgrade performace from this if it list 64meg in windows but 128meg in boot up.

A:geforce 4 TI4200 memory error?

I used to have that a problem on my 3D Prophet DDR-DVI ( GeForce 256 DDR ). It was a 32mb card & sometimes at bootup it would report 16mb. I never had performance problems because of that though. On the GeForce FAQ, I remember them saying it was because of defect memory chips.

Here's the advice they gave :

Q. I (occasionally or always) get less than 32MB of video RAM reported when I first switch on my PC. What's up?
Try slightly changing your FSB speed.

Make sure that you are using a powerful enough power supply. See the 'How powerful should my power supply be in order to use the GeForce? question for more information.

You can find a link for a BIOS that may fix this problem for the Creative Annihilator Pro in the 'Are there any newer Video BIOS upgrades for the Annihilator?' question.

You may want to replace the card even if this does help: this problem may also be a bad solder joint on one of the memory chips that causes problems occasionally or all the time.Click to expand...

Hi Folks,
My PC is built on an Asus P5N32-E Sli Plus mother board, Intel quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz processor and an NVidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB graphics card, running Win7.

Photography is my hobby and I have recently been adding some simple 3D text on top of a few photos. The problem I?m having is that Photoshop crashes if I try to go above three words of text.
It reports that there is not enough memory on the graphic card. As my mother board will take two graphic cards, I?m thinking of putting another of the same in.

So would the whole of the combined 1536MB of memory be available to Photoshop and cure the problem?

Any advice would be appreciated

A:NVidia GeForce 8800GTX, not enough memory?

No The video memory in crossfire or sli that can be used will be the same as the card with the lowest amount of ram....both cards load all the image....they just draw half of the image....

I bought an old Dell Optiplex 380 system refurbished from Dell for about $80 with an E7500 Intel core 2 duo processor and upgraded it to a Xeon E5430 for about $20. The cpu benchmark went from about 1800 to 4000. The Dell Optiplex 380 uses DDR3 memory, so the Xeon gets an additional boost there. I also downloaded a modded Dell bios that supports the Xeon functions on the 775 motherboard at bios-mods forums for free. Great little computer to play older games in Windows 7. Next I will be updating this system to Windows 10. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium OEM installed by Dell.

So for little cost you can play around with older hardware and make it do things it wasn't originally designed for.

Hi people

I have a Geforce 7300 Le video card with memory i think 512 mb , in Windows xp it read the memory size correctly , on win 7 i got all confused as it reads only 256

I copied info from nvidia control panel

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz (2194 MHz)
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit
DirectX version: 11.0
GPU processor: GeForce 7300 LE
Driver version: 191.07
Core clock: 450 MHz
Memory clock: 648 MHz (1296 MHz data rate)
Memory interface: 64-bit
Total available graphics memory: 1023 MB
Dedicated video memory: 256 MB
System video memory: 0 MB
Shared system memory: 767 MB
Video BIOS version: 5.72.22.43.32
IRQ: 16
Bus: PCI Express x16

Now how come the total memory is 1023 and 256 is only dedicated , i searched bios for any editable options for Video card but found nothing.

How can I edit dedicated video memory, as it affects Games performances Huge GTAiv is running so slooooooowly with screen glitches.

Thanks in advance.

A:Geforce 7300 dedicated video memory

makamiko, welcome to the forums.

Quote:
How can I edit dedicated video memory

Short and simple answer is you can't as dedicated memory on a video card is actual physical memory. The only way it is possible to alter this is if your video card uses what Nvidia calls TurboCache which takes system memory and uses it as extra video memory; great in theory, but unless you have 2 GB or more of system memory it will cause additional slowdowns.

As for what most of those numbers you posted mean this should help explain it,

One reason for that is from the system requirements for that game,

Grand Theft Auto IV - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

your 7300 LE doesn't make the grade as far as the minimum requirements go. Unfortunately for the most part if you want to game you're going to need a new video card.

A:GeForce 4 mx 440 - Trouble reading memory cards

Sounds like more of a problem with the card reader than the graphics card. Try reinstalling the card reader driver. Uninstall the driver first, restart and then reinstall the driver.

Why it says 1 gig in system info I don't know? It might be its actually using the Intel graphics when you opened it. It's switchable graphics. Hi,

I'm new to this forum so very grateful for any help...

I'm trying to wire up a Cat5e to Cat5e wall socket extension and I'm a little confused...

I need to connect a machine in room A to a router in room B. Presently I have a very long Cat5e cable to do this. I've just run a length of Cable through the wall, with a view to terminating both ends with Cat 5e panels (to alleviate the need for a really long cable trailing across the floor).

However, I'm unsure as to how I wire up the insides of the panels. Should I wire them up straight through or crossed-over?

Thanks indeed for any help!

MD

A:Cat5e Socket to Socket extension

Straight through. Plus you need to either wire it up under the 568A or 568B standard. Just pick one and wire up both ends the same way and you'll be fine.

are there any major differences? is the 754 more unstable compared to the 939?

cos im always gettings performance issues with games on my pc (ive got a 754 amd athlon 64 3400+) i dont know whether it could be the cpu or something else?

is there much point in upgrading my cpu to 939?

thanks a lot.

A:socket 754 compared to socket 939

I don't think it is that simple really.

As far as "stability" goes, 754 and 939 are probably not all that different. What is more important is the chipset on your motherboard, ram/motherboard compatibility etc.

The main advantage of 939 is that the newer AMD processors are made ONLY for that socket type.

You ask if there is a point in upgrading your cpu to 939. You would have to upgrade your motherboard first to be able to accept a 939 cpu. I appologize if that is information you already know, it just didn't sound like it in the wording of your question.

Now, as for your performance issues, if you want we can take a look and try and find the cause. I'd recommend starting a new thread and list your complete system specs with as much detail as possible, also detailing the problems you are having.

Ok I just got the Dell Dimension 1GB PC800 RDRAM 1024MB Rambus RIMM I won on eBay. Before I even started looking on eBay, I did research on the RAM for this computer, thought I knew what needed to be known.

Installed them, thought everything was going well...... then I started the computer back up and it tells me that the two are unsupported and to get the correct type.
My computer is a:
Dell 8200
Pentium 4
CPU 2.40GHz
2.39 GHz, 256 MB of RAM

What did I do wrong?

A:Dell 8200 RAM Help

According to this http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/specs.htm#1101572 the memory you need is PC800 (non-ECC).

The memory you got - KINGSTON RDRAM # KTD-DM800E/1024 ECC.

You got ECC memory, you need non-ECC. Some motherboards will work OK with either one, but probably not in this case.

Edit: However this is what I found at Crucial: Your system supports ECC. You can put non-ECC modules into an ECC system, but be sure not to mix ECC and non-ECC modules within a system. Install the same type of modules that are already in your system.

So it just might be that you can't mix ECC and non-ECC.

Howdy,
I have an older computer running an HP CDWriter 8200e via USB 1.0.
I am using the HP software that came with it. I got is used from a friend who upgraded his system - almost free.

It worked great for a while, now it doesn't recognize that a blank CD is in for burning.

It will still read a factory music CD.

Is there any adjustment or cleaning needed? I tried 2 brands of CD's.

Help - Jim

Hi all, you were a great help on my last question. Since I am not real computer savy, I need to know if on an Inspiron 8200 laptop, is the processor easily replaced like on a desktop? I currently have a 1.20 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4. I would like to put a faster processor. I know on a desktop, they just plug in. Is the Inspiron that way or is it soldiered to the Mother Board. If it can be replaced easily, then I would like to do so. I hope you can help me. Thanks

I have a Dell dimension 8200. I am looking to do a RAM upgrade. I know it uses Rambus memory 800mhz. The question i have is; does anyone know if i need buffered or unbuffered memory? Are there only certain manufacturers that make compatible memory? I was looking at samsung 256 meg chips. I have seen that corsair is compatible, but have not seen anything else listed. Any help would be great. Thanks everyone!

Greetings, Does someone has any experience, or knowledge on if the 8200 Elite will boot from a PCIe SSD disk like the Kingston HyperX Predator (with the HHHL adapter) or a similar product? The only information I could find so far, is that it probably won't boot from an NVMe device with a PCIe adapter. Thanks,Pantelis

A:PCIe SSD in 8200 Elite

Panteliss, welcome to the forum. Here are the recommendations from Crucial Memory.  If Crucial recommends a SSD it is guaranteed to work or it will be replaced with no additional cost to you.  If you have questions, you should contact their Tech Support to answer them before ordering a SSD.  There are six different capacities from which to choose.  Crucial makes very good quality products. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

I just put a new 6G040 MOBO in my Dell Inspiron 8200. Now I get nothing but LED lights that only stay on for about 2-3 seconds. During the switchover, I transferred the old CPU/heatsink to the new MOBO (new thremal paste) and everything fit nice. I cant figure out why this thing is dead! I have re-seated the RAM and went over everything I can think of.

Is it a bad idea to remove a CPU and place it in a new MOBO?

Any ideas??

Thanks

A:My Inspiron 8200 is dead!!

-check that the power connectors are on properly
-reset bios?
-check BIOS settings are correct
-check for shorting to the case?
-run on minimum setup outside of the case on a non-conductive surface and see if it boots

if you do get past POST maybe try running a windows repair, since its using new hardware..

HI, I have a few questions and I would appreciate if they could be answered ASAP.

First all, I have the plug that connects my TV to my laptop, but when I set that up, TV OUT does not work (in other words I do not see my laptop image on my TV).

Do I need to reboot after plugging the cables from the TV to the laptop?

or is there some settings i need to change on the computer?
Also, I would love to know if TV IN is possible (can I watch TV on my laptop)
Again, its a Dell inspiron 8200 with WINDOWS XP PRO installed and running.
Appreciate help asap, THAnKS!

Greetings,

I'm in need of XP drivers for my old laptop, but the Toshiba has completely removed drivers for their old laptops. Where could I found these drivers? I honestly spend last 30min trying to search drivers from the web.

And I read that WiFi doesn't work in XP, has there been found any solution to this problem?

Thank you for your help and btw, English is not my strongest language :)

It is sooooooooo easy to find all this stuff and I am asking myself what you have done 30 minutes. If you have old notebook model it is LOGIC that this stuff can be placed under option *ARCHIVE*. Am I right about that?

Please go to Toshiba download page again and under *PRODUCT TYPE* choose option *ARCHIVE*.

I really hope this time you will need just a minute to find WXP drivers.

Bye and good luck!

Hi, I'm looking at getting an HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT PC (part number LE245PA) and have a question about the maximum RAM it will take. The PC is the one at http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/au/en/sm/WF05a/12454-12454-64287-3328898-3328898-5037949.html?dnr=1Page 10 of http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13879_na/13879_na.pdf is a bit ambiguous and I can't work out whether the max is 16GB, or whether it is 32GB.It says "1GB, 2GB, and 4GB DDR3 DRAM technologies are supported. Using 4 GB device technologies, the largest memory capacity possible is 32 GB, assuming dual channel mode with four x 8 GB dual ranked unbuffered DIMM memory configuration".But then the table at the bottom of the same page seems to imply that that maximum is 16GB.Can anyone please advise whether the maximum is 16GB or 32GB in this model?

A:Tecra 8200 Identity?

The reason why you cannot find your machine is because you?re searching in the wrong section.
Your machine is a little bit older and doesn?t belongs to the new generation of toshiba notebooks. To find the drivers and the BIOS update, you will have to choose Archive in the Drivers Download section.

Here?s some short description to find your machine in the drivers section:

Go to the Drivers Download section and choose:
"Product type" -> Archive
"Family" -> Tecra-Archive
"Product series" -> Tecra 8xxx
"Model" -> Tecra 8200
"Short model number" -> PT820E

Afterwards choose the operating system where you need drivers. The BIOS update is included in the driver list.

A:Integrated Geforce 6100 or old Geforce FX 5200

If you have lots of system RAM, then the 6100 is probably the best choice. You'd probably need at least a gig of RAM though.

If you only have 256, or 512, the 5200 might be the better choice. Best idea is to test your games with both setups, and see which plays better.

Hello!

Looking at these cards there is a bit of a price difference, the MSI is ?479 and the ASUS is ?299.
The MSI does have better specifications than the ASUS so in performance I would go with the MSI. Although for value for money the ASUS is very good! So if I was just going for performance I would choose the MSI but if I wanted value for money then the ASUS is the one I would go for!

Well, I'm looking at upgrading again, and in the interest of finances, I'm upgrading the video and keeping the rest of the system the same. I'm currently running an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe w/ Athlon XP 3200+ w/ 1GB of PC3200 ram. I'm looking at replacing my BFG GeForce 5700 Ultra with something a bit more modern and keeping the price low. I've found a 6600 (may be and LE version). The GPU and memory clocks are lower and the pixels/sec isn't as high, but the 6600 has support for Shader 3.0 and has the ability to process MPEG2 video on card which will help watching DVD's and with my TV card also. Plus there's the support for processing HD Video. I'm just looking for people's opinion on whether this is a good upgrade or not before jumping in. Fell free to say whatever. Thanks!

is the driver from hp on a floppy? if you are trying to install the driver in plug n'play sometimes it won't find the file and you have to find it yourself. Okay this is probably a stupid question but I have a Tecra 8200 .
Do I have to buy something else for the wireless connection to work?

A:Tecra 8200 wireless question

Hi

This question is not stupid ;) because the Tecra 8200 was equipped optional with the internal minPCI WLan card. This could be a little bit confusing.
So in some Tecra 8200 units the WLan is already included and in some Tecra?s the minPCI WLan card must be installed firstly to use the WLan technology.

You should check your device manager if an WLan module is listed in ?Network adepter?
If it?s already listed then you don?t need an additional WLan card.
If it?s not listed, then you will have to upgrade the machine with the minPCI WLan card or with a USB WLan stick.

As far as I know the PA3070U-1MPC Wireless LAN mini-PCI card coudl be compatible with your notebook.

Hi all I ve read so many things on this i dont even know 8200 Dell Inspiron Power where to look anymore It s the same problem that many of us had experienced I have a inspiron for reasons that i still dont know it recognizes my watt ac adaptor as a watt adaptor It runs on batter Dell Inspiron 8200 Power just fine However with the computer thinks that it only gets watt power supply the battery wont charge i ve heard that it can be fixed by replacing the motherboard but is just not in my budget right now I ve also read something about replacing the power source Here s something else i ve found a while ago quot If the laptop works on battery my guess is that the inline ceramic DC fuse is open This is a small oblong block be inch long inch high and wide surface mounted very near the AC adapter jack This can be bypassed with a suitable Dell Inspiron 8200 Power Picofuse be amps soldered across the conductive ends of the existing fuse case I would only look into this if the warranty is expired It is an easy fix be for the replacement fuse be for silver epoxy if it risky to solder in the area I ve done this on three laptops which are still functioning - only one with the epoxy I wish I knew the mechanism for the DC overload one of the laptops had a water spill the other two are mysteries to me quot I would attempt this if there was some sort of more quot cookbook quot instruction from anyone who has ever attemped the repair If someone can point out where i actually came across this posted aritcle that would be helpful Or if any of you had good experience with any reliable shop that could fix this for cheap please let me know Thanks nbsp

You said, "I would only look into this if the warranty is expired."
