Windows Security Center Displaying in Arabic

Q: Windows Security Center Displaying in Arabic

After cleaning out several viruses, a rogue security program and a TDSS rootkit, I have a few Windows programs that are being displayed with an Arabic font - mainly the Windows security center and wireless networking applets. Screencap attached. I know I've come across this before and thought the problem lied in the registry, but can't seem to find the culprit.

If you've run into this before and can add some insight, I'd appreciate it. Win XP Media Center, SP2

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey everyone,

Working on an Inspiron 6000 laptop running WinXP MCE. It had over a hundred infections that have been taken care of. The remaining problem is that in some system screens, the text appears to be in arabic. I've checked the regional settings in control panel but find nothing wrong. Pics of what it looks like attached. Any ideas?

A:XP partially displaying text in Arabic?

Do you have Office installed? Do you have the Language tool bar near your system tray? If not Right click the Taskbar and choose Toolbar, and put a check in Language Bar. Here you will have other options to toggle between 2 languages or to set it to one language.

I am trying to help a friend with his computer. Problem is he has a laptop running windows vista that is set up in arabic, that is the filenames, the settings options and everything appears in arabic. It is not just the keyboard input, which is set up to use different languages through the regional and language settings in the control panel. I dont understand arabic, so is there a way to make the computer start displaying everything in english so that I can see what going on, and then have a way to set it back to being arabic? When I say set it back to arabic, i mean the display language, the input language, the internet explorer window so that the x appears in the top left and not the top right.

how can i do that

A:Need to convert an arabic displaying computer to english

click the start button, go to "كونترول بانل" (which is the control panel), then navigate to "كلك، لانغواج اند "رجين(which is the Clock, Language, and region), then go to "ريجينال اند لانغواج أبتينس" (which is regional and language options), a new window opens. click on the "ادمنستراسيون" (which is the administrative tab-or the last tab, 4th tab over), then click on the شنج سيستم لكل (which is change system locale), then your presented with the a drop down box, scroll down to : انجلش ( English if its presented like this, or English).

Hope this helps,

I have Vista Ultimate installed, added all my photos to the "Picture folder". I have several sub folders under the Pictures folder with most of my photos being in the .jpg format. All my photos show up when I use windows photo gallery, but when I open Windows Media Center some of my folders says no photos found. The folders that do have pictures (jpg's) in them display just fine. I don't see that it is file assocciation because the folders that do have pictures in them display right.

I would be greatfull for anyones ideas. Thank you

Hi I've noticed problem for a few years now Windows Media Center displays movies in Movies mostly under the genre Other and not the appropriate in displaying under genre Windows Movies mostly? Other Media Center genre where they belong I've employed Media Center Master to make metadata files with the appropriate genres which it does I've just tried YAMMM which is supposed to do the same as Media Center Master with less hands on more automated YAMMM has as option to use the parent folder name for the genre that does a little in the way of getting movies under the right genres But still most movies appear under the genre Other which defeats the reason for using Windows Media Center - to make it easier to find the movies you are trying to view Both of these programs place metadata xml files in the individual movie folders However I'm pretty sure that Windows Media Center doesn't read these files In my pursuit to resolve this issue I found that there are almost the same metadata xml files in the folder C Users user name here AppData Roaming Movies in Windows Media Center displaying under genre Other mostly? Microsoft eHome DvdInfoCache These metadata xml files are written a little differently The genres are listed in this manner lt genre gt Action Adventure Sci-Fi Thriller War lt genre gt Where as in the individual movie folders the metadata lists multiple genres like this lt Genres gt lt Genre gt Action lt Genre gt lt Genre gt Adventure lt Genre gt lt Genre gt Sci-Fi lt Genre gt lt Genre gt Thriller lt Genre gt lt Genre gt War lt Genre gt lt Genres gt Would the way the genres are listed make a difference in how they appear under Movies in Windows Media Center The one thing I did notice is that it seems to be that id there are more than one genre listed then the movie is placed under Other for the genre s Can the eHome DvdInfoCache metadata files be edited in a way to get Windows media Center to display all the genres a movie is attributed with Will the edits stick Can anyone help me with this is there a solution that works and what might that be Thanks John

Try this first:
Open the Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Click View all, and then click Windows Media Player Library.

Everytime I start up my desktop, a fake windows security center message comes up trying to get me to install a fake protection system software. When this windows security center message comes up, it also adds three shortcuts to my desktop to porn sites. This virus is hindering me from using various software such as Malwarebytes, Spybot, and it wont let me install Hijack this. Also, this virus is making Internet Explorer practically unusable (using Safari right now). Please help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

A:infected with fake protection system/ fake windows security center/ fake security center alerts

I forgot to put this, but I am using Windows XP
One of the sample messages from Security Center Alter asks if I want to block a suspicious software called Trojan.Win32.Agent.dcc. This "Alert" has popped up many time, but warning me about different trojans.
Also, in the lower-right tray, messages are continuously coming up saying stuff like keyloggers, exploits, and etc have infected your computer.

I recently downloaded a program called ccProxy. My add-on WOT warned me that this was a bad site, but I downloaded it anyway. I then got a Google redirecting virus and a virus that kept on disabling my Microsoft Security Center and would close Microsoft security essentials whenever I tried to open it. I went on safe mode and I ran a bunch of scanners such as MalwareBytes, Super Anti-Spyware, Windows Security Essentials (I can open it on safe mode), AVG 2011 and Panda Active Scan 2011. After I destroyed a bunch of viruses nothing happened. How do I fix this? If you need my Hijackthis log I can give it to you.

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your malware problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. A:Security Center service for Windows 7 cannot start & Security Essentials not working

Hi,

The Security Center service cannot be started due to virus destruction.

Have you tried the repair for Windows? If not, you can go to following SkyDrive to load the registry and import it to check the result.

http://cid-9fb18a384ebfc662.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Documents/wscsvc%5E564%5E6.zip

Before importing it, please back up the following registry key first. Just find the key and right click it, choose export and save to desktop.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wscsvc]

After importing the correct registry, please go to services Windows to check if Security Center starts properly.

Hi,I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002 and have recently been infected by the Live Security Platinum virus (PUM.Disabled.SecurityCenter) and have cleaned it using the method from here.Everything's been going ok actually, except for the fact that now the whole of my Windows Security Center is unusable. I suspect it is due to the system files that were removed or modified during the removal process. Now Windows Update is not even present in the Services list and Windows Defender gives a "failed to initialize" error. It would be great if you could shed some light to me for this problem.Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________ One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan and password stealer. This type of infection allows hackers to access and remotely control your computer, log keystrokes, steal critical system information, and download and execute files without your knowledge. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it contains any other sensitive information, then from a clean computer, change all passwords where applicable. It would also be wise to contact those same financial institutions to appraise them of your situation.I highly suggest you take a look at the two links provided below:1. How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud, and CC Fraud?2. When should I re-format? How should I reinstall? We can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. Let me know what you decide to do. If you decide to go through with the cleanup, please proceed with the following steps.NEXT:Running TDSSKillerPlease read carefully and follow these steps. Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.Extract its contents to your desktop.Once extracted, open the TDSSKiller folder and doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.

A:Windows Security box not displaying username and password.

Hi,
That’s problem might be related with Windows Credential Manager.
Please follow these steps below to add windows credentials on your PC:
1 Click “Start”
2 Input “Credential Manager” in Search box and click it
3 In “Store credentials for automatic logon”, click “Add a Windows credential”
4 Input your internet or network address in blank, also input user name and password
5 Click “OK”

Thus, when user login your website, the username and password will appear.

Furhtermore, you can try to reset IE for test.

Hope it helps.

When I'm logged on as an Administrator (which I only log onto to install applications), my Windows Security Center recognizes my AT&T security suite. Everything is fine.

However, when I logon as a User (which I do a majority of the time for internetting and music), Windows Security Center informs me that AT&T's security suite isn't active, even though the icon is shown in the systray, and all of it's services are active (I can see the firewall blocking info in real time for example).

Why does Security Center detect the same suite on my Administrator account but not my User account? This issue only happened after I uninstalled Visual Basic .net a few months ago (I can't restore to back that date at this point to undo it), and I'm wondering if there's a way to repair it.

A:Windows Security Center not recognizing Security Suite in XP Pro

IIRC, the MMC (Microsoft Management Console) relies upon .net to function properly.

I have a thinkpad 500.  I recently upgraded to 8 gbytes Ram, 256 SSD Drive, Windows 7 64 bit.  I have performed system update at lenovo site.  The lenovo solutions center either does not start or starts, but displays in multiple, overlapping images.  It worked fine under the 32 bit version of Windows 7 I was using.  I did install the 64 bit version.  Any suggestions about how to fix.  Computer is out of the box with respect to components except for the RAM and the new harddrive.

Hi,

I have the following problem - my Windows Security Center looks like the attached file "insecure.jpg". When I go to services.msc, change to automatic mode, then start - after reboot it goes back to disabled mode. I think it should be always like on "secure.jpg" without me doing anything.

I would appreciate any advice or help.

Thanks,

Hi

Approx 4 months ago I installed Comodo Personal firewall but after a while decided to remove it and go back to Kerio free.

I went into the Windows Security Center yesterday and clicked on Firewall and the information insinuated I have more than one firewall on my PC.

I disabled Kerio and it then read - "Comodo personal firewall is on"

Checked add/remove etc, no sign of Comodo.

Although I haven't had any problems (so far), I would appreciate any help in removing Comodo once and for all as don't want them conflicting.

Thanks

Bob.

PS
Posted in Firewalls also.......sorry.

Is there a way to disable Windows Security Center. I have shut down System Restore and Automatic updates. Both are useless on XP SP3. I'm tired of the message which states that system is vulnerable every time I start the computer, which is at least daily, as I still turn it off when I shut down for the night. I have 2 AV programmes updated daily, run a firewall and use a private network. I'm only on air about 2 hours a day and the rest of the time my router is shut down. So I win't feel bad without Windows security center. Also any banking or financial stuff is confined to a Ubuntu O/S on a netbook. This computer isn't on line 30 min a week.

Hello,

My problem is concerned with Windows Security Center. After I installed Service Pack 2, on startup showed Security Center. It said "The Security Center is currently unavailable because the "Security Center" service has not started or was stopped. Please close this window, restart the computer (or start the "Security Center" service), and then open the security center again.

I launched services.msc, changed to automatic (it was disabled), and started it. After reboot everything went back to "normal" - it was disabled, stopped. I know I can do this procedure every time I want to work on my computer, but this is not what I want.

I have Norton Internet Security 2007; no other anti-virus software or firewall installed.

I would appreciate any reply, help or advice.

Thanks in advance

I run a Dell laptop Windows don't I know why Center Is Security OFF.. with Vista Home Premium SP I have an admin account however since it is a shared computer my girlfriend has only a standard account Now every time she logs on to her account Windows Security Center pops out a warning icon in the system tray When she clicks on that icon it tells her Security Center is off I tell her Windows Security Center Is OFF.. I don't know why to turn it on and when she does it tells her that firewall is off auto updates is off almost everything is off except for maybe malware protection and internet security This concerns me as the only thing that SHOULD be off is User Account Control which we want off anyway and actually turned off ourselves The weird thing is as soon as I log onto my admin account Security Center works fine on my end All turned on except for UAC which I turned off Now get this When she logs back onto HER account with my account still logged on mind you We get the security warning again saying Security Center is off only this time when we turn on Security Center we find that all the elements are on except for UAC which is how I want it to be anyways This situation really has me stumped Is there any way I can get Security Center to turn on automatically without having to go to my account etc A resolution to this issues is sought with urgency and we appreciate any insight you all might have into this matter We are grateful for your assistance Thanks tekktronic P S You think this could be some sort of malware or something

Hello everyone!

Windows Security Center stopped recognizing all of my anti-malware, anti-virus, anti-spy ware, and my McAfee Security Center Firewall. It happened about 4-5 maybe 6 weeks ago. I cannot remember if I had contacted Dell or Microsoft for this problem. But I was told that I could either reinstall Windows or just live with it. I tried to live with it. But it is becoming a royal pain in the Butt!! I had Windows Security Center problems once before and I do not remember what the fix was. I know I had a problem between Windows Defender and McAfee Firewall. Had Windows Defender and the Windows firewall turned off Because of that.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do to get this fixed?

I just installed XP SP2. I almost regret it now. How do I disable windows security center? I hate it when Microsoft tries to control everything for me. I have my own security software and do not need Bill Gates to watch over my computer.

Is it me or is my computer now slower since I installed SP2?

Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

A:Windows Security Center

Go to control panel / security center
Click on change the way security center alerts me and uncheck the things you do not want monitored.

You can also manage the individual components there.

Doing a routine sweep and Spybot S&D reported:

I use Norton Internet Security and AVG...

should I let Spybot S&D "fix" this problem?

I am trying to package an app that deploys script to the HKEY_USERS registry. This in-turn when logging in (excluding the administrators account) calls up the Windows Security Center even though the users are part of the administrators group.

It only does this on initial installation and not on repairs. I am looking for a vbscript that will stop the Security Center Service and re-start it only once the active setup has completed running.

Anyone out there help?

Can anyone shed light on this?

A:Windows Security Center

Hiyas

I've seen this before. Normally it's to do with either turning off Windows Security Center, or disabling the prompt that alerts you that your anti-virus is either outdated or turned off completely.

If you did this intentionally there's nothing to worry about. But if you didn't, best do a scan to make sure you haven't picked up something.

The Information:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/security-center.aspx

As the website says, it comes pre-installed on your computer. I had it, then during my Fake Security Center Fiasco, the real one vanished. It seems to have been uninstalled or something and I can not find a link to re-download it. It just kind of vanished and when I start my computer the bubble pops up in my taskbar saying something is wrong. When I double click, it pops up saying Security Center is unavailable. Same thing happens when I try to access it from the Control Panel, which is how I know it's not the Malware I had.

The Problem/Question:
Windows Security Center is Gone. I want/need it back, perhaps?

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer. 1. I will be working on your Malware issues. hi, welcome to TSG.

the version of hijack this you have is outdated, download a newer
version from below.
Download hijack this from the link below. Please do this. Click here:

to download HijackThis. Click scan and save a logfile, then post it here so
we can take a look at it for you. Don't click fix on anything in hijack this
as most of the files are legitimate.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

My suggestion is to use Microsoft Security Essentials. Does not have problems such as yours, made just for windows, also great for secrurity.
If used in conjuction with the free malwarebytes, and windows firewall coupled with common sense, you will have it made.
That warning can be turned off, but I want you to have (subjectively) the best protection
If not using MSE, the warning is usually erroneous.

A:Windows Security Center

Five? You only really need one and it's included with the McAfee Internet Security Suite. If McAfee says the firewall is on, then the Microsoft Security Center is not detecting it properly. It is also possible that with so many security programs installed, that the multiple applications are confusing Security Center. You can force the Security Center to stop alerting you if the notifications are bothersome.

I am having a problem with the Action Center, Windows Security Center, recognizing my AV program. It also no longer recognizes Windows Defender when using Panda. Here is the error that I get:

Did you uninstall MSE? If you did, type services.msc in the start search box.
Click on the icon... scroll down to Windows Defender. Restart the application.

I just installed Microsoft Security Essentials and now I have Windows Security Center prompting me to turn on malware and spyware protection. I don't have this on windows 7. Is this related to MSE. Should I turn it off or follow what it says?

A:Windows Security Center?

Hello Stu,

Do you have MSE turned on and updated with the latest definitions through Windows Update?

Hello,

I'd file this one under "Minor Annoyances", since I hardly use Windows Security Center, or need it open. I know how to keep my computer in tip-top shape, and I don't need reminders (most of the time I don't, anyway).

The problem is, and I've found a user with my problem over at CastleCops, Windows Security Center is reporting that "AVG 7.1.345 is out of date". Unfortunately, it seems to be a bit confused, because AVG reports the current version as 7.1.405, last updated today.

I followed the instructions that their band of tech gurus gave, but to no avail. Can someone help me?

TIA,
Jesse

This message keeps popping up every so often.. is it legitimate? or is it just a part of a pop-up ad/adware/etc.?

Okay I ve seen a lot of virus like this in the past where it pretends to be security software but I have never in my life seen one as sophisticated as this one Whenever I open a browser Center Windows Security the security window pops up It pops up very frequently Naturally the first time it popped up I killed it via task manager and instantly went to go open msconfig Unfortunately it wouldn Windows Security Center t let me open msconfig and popped up the security alert again Then I tried regedit the slightly more manual approach but same problem I have tried clearing as many processes as possible to hopefully gain control of my system I actually closed services exe because I don t remember seeing it before maybe I was blind and that popped up a message box saying my computer will shutdown in a minute which looked an aweful lot like the standard shutdown -s box so I tried to run a shutdown -a command butt that got blocked to Finally I got fed up and said I m just going to run in safe mode But to my uttermost shock safe mode wouldn t start after all the files loaded the computer restarted itself It has somehow managed to dig into my system files During a lot of this I started downloading visual studio professional on my computer in an attempt to write a program to check the run folders in my registry for you it s still downloading now but i have since realised that the virus is blocking ALL exe s from executing so there s little hope for writing my own program I am absolutely stumped and I really don t want to resort to formatting Any suggestions would be golden Thanks nbsp

Hiya Cruncher2,

I'm kevinf80 and I will be helping with any malware issues you may have with your system.

Please be aware that some of the logs I may ask for can be very complex and can take a long time to decipher. I am a volunteer here with a job and family so I ask that you be patient when waiting for replies.
Please DO NOT run any scans/tools/fixes on your own as this will conflict with the tools we are going to use.
Either print or Save to Notepad all instructions and please follow them carefully, if there's something you don't understand or that will not work please let me know and we will go through it together.
Malware is often buggy and can be very unstable, with that in mind it is advisable to backup any important data before we begin.
If you do not reply within 72 hours the thread will be closed, if you need more time let me know. Likewise if I do not respond within 48 hours feel free to PM me.

Please proceed as follows :-

In steps 1 and 2, if you cannot download the tools to your PC in normal mode, try from Safe mode with Networking. If you still cannot download the tools then d/l on a clean PC and save to a USB stick or CD then transfer to the Desktop of the infected system.
Step 1

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix. Vista or Windows 7 users right click and select “Run as Administrator”
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of exehelperlog.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com, and should open at the end of the scan)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Step 2

Please download Rkill and save to your Desktop.

Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If you get an alert from the rogue that RKill is a threat, leave that alert open and re-run RKill again.
Do not re-boot your system after steps 1 or 2.

Step 3

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
Alernative D/L mirror
Alternative D/L mirror

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note)
Please save the log to a location you will remember.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the Malwarebytes log in your reply..

Kevin

Hello,
I have Windows XP Home SP3 and ESET NOD32 antivirus. Yesterday, I had this "Windows Security Center" opened with the firewall off and recommending to put it on. Even though I declined, it still put it on. Later, it dawn on me that I seem to have read something in Bleeping Computer about this Windows Security Center. I checked and discovered it was a malware. So I followed Bleeping Computer instructions:
1. I downloaded "Autoruns.exe" but couldn't find the file name " winmgr.exe" for Windows Security Center.
2. I scanned with ESET NOD32. Nothing.
3. I scanned with Malwarebytes Anti-malware. Nothing.
4. I scanned with Superantispyware Free Edition. Apart 78 cookies which I deleted, nothing.
As instructed, I would appreciate for further directions in order to get rid of this malware.

A:Windows Security Center

So you have ESET NOD32 and not ESET Smart Security. It is only antivirus and that`s why Windows want to put Windows Firewall.

Hello,

My uncle gave me his Dell Mini 9 laptop to fix for him. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING IN THE BOOK TO REMOVE THE VIRUS, I have gone through 100 guides but the virus is preventing me from deleting it. Every time I try to run virus scanners or any other program it displays The disk does not have enough space. I am asking how I can somehow run system restore at the beginning of boot with USB. The laptop does not have a cd tray and it runs XP.

I am very computer savvy so dont mind going into detail.

Hi everyone I think I may ask for help too much but it doesn't help being overly paranoid gt gt Anyway Windows Vista Home Premium -bit AVG Free issue After I turned on my laptop today everything loaded up fine I did my normal routine of updating all my protection programs Windows Concerns; Center Security other programs and this included a Kernal Components Update to AVG Free - my Concerns; Windows Security Center AV - in the event it matters One of them required a restart so I restarted as it asked When the laptop loaded back up Windows Security Center reported that my computer was not protected so I opened it up an it said my AV was not running I opened up the UI for AVG and it said all components were up and running normally there was no errors I turned off AVG components turned them back on but Security Center said my AV was still off I attempted to turn it on through the Security Center but after allowing the UAC thing and waiting for five minutes - it still reported my AV was off Seeing no other visible solutions I decided to restart again When the computer came back up there was no error Security Center reported AVG was up and running I restarted again just in-case and again it loaded up with nothing wrong I'm fairly certain the Laptop is clean in addition to safe browsing and such I got off my Laptop yesterday disconnected from the internet and ran scans with MABM SAS and AVG Free I do nightly scans since I'm not using the Laptop then anyway and naturally I didn't run them all at once which all came up clean The computer remained disconnected from the internet off until I turned it on today to update programs Aside from the security center hiccup nothing out of the ordinary is happening I browsed AVG 's free forums and found some suggestions on how to resolve the issue including downloading a file and running it and a command prompt command but since a restart resolved it I didn't see that applying The only thing I could find as an explanation for this was Computer's can and do have quot one time issues quot The rule of thumb is always that when you have an issue with any program or Windows itself reboot and then see if you can recreate the issue If not just ignore it and move on The most common cause is probably just a power spike or sag that you or I can't even notice In otherwords all that it may have needed was the shutdown restart So basically is the above quote true good advice Does anyone know why Security Center had the little hiccup and can anyone let me know if it is anything to worry about especially when AVG reports it is running fine Everyone here is quite knowledgeable and gave me great advice info in the past hence why I didn't think it would hurt to ask Thanks for taking the time to read at least

Hello Bigpolishkelbasa and welcome to BleepingComputer,Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofixPlease ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first. The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode, in case your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware. This allows us to help you .In the event you already have Combofix, delete your current version and download the latest version as described in the tutorial. It must be saved directly to your desktop.Note: Make sure not to click ComboFix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze. Please post the log from ComboFix (can also be found as C:\ComboFix.txt) in your next reply. If you have any questions along the way, STOP and ask them before proceeding !!Greetings,Thunder

I am getting a continual start-up problem.

Windows Security Center will not start, regardless of whether I'm in my regular account, or admin. I have tried fixing it based off some info I "researched" on-line, but it claims that my user account isn't the same as others using the same process....

All of the others I have looked at in Services all say "Network Service", just like I tried setting the WSC to.

Please point me in a direction to fix this "BLEEPING POS COMPUTER".

Hello and welcome to Bleeping ComputerWe apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.Upon completing the steps below I will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware. Thanks and again sorry for the delay.Download OTL to your desktop.Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted. When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.AndPlease download Sophos Anti-rootkit & save it to your desktop.alternate download linkNote: If using the vendor's download site you will be asked to register with MySophos so an email containing an activation link can be sent to your email address.Be sure to print out and read the Sophos Anti-Rookit User Manual and Release Notes.Double-click sar_15_sfx.exe to begin the installation, read the license agreement and click Accept.Allow the default location of C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Rootkit and click Install.A message will appear "Sophos Anti-Rootkit was successfully installed. Click 'yes' to start it now".Click Yes and allow the driver and its randomly named .tmp file (i.e. F.tmp) to load if asked. If the scan did not start automatically, make sure the following are checked:Running processesWindows RegistryLocal Hard DrivesClick Start scan.Sophos Anti-Rootkit will scan the selected areas and display any suspicious files in the upper panel. When the scan is complete, a pop-up screen will appear with "Rootkit Scan Results". Click OK to continue.Click on the suspicious file to display more information about it in the lower panel which also includes whether the item is recommended for removal.
Files tagged as Removable: No are not marked for removal and cannot be removed.Files tagged as Removable: Yes (clean up recommended) are marked for removal by default.Files tagged as Removable: Yes (but clean up not recommended) are not marked for removal because Sophos did not recognize them. These files will require further investigation.Select only items recommended for removal, then click "Clean up checked items". You will be asked to confirm, click Yes.A pop up window will appear advising the cleanup will finish when you restart your computer. Click Restart Now.After reboot, a dialog box displays the files you selected for removal and the action taken.Click Empty list and then click Continue to re-scan your computer a second time to ensure everything was cleaned. When done, go to Start > Run and type or copy/paste: %temp%\sarscan.logThis should open the log from the rootkit scan. A:Windows Security Center Warning?

Hello jermaine4211, Welcome to bleeping computer... You didn't provide much specifics,,, So I'll assume you are using XP or 2000. Were there any messages, what are the pop ups? What AV and spyware apps do you have? Which firewall are you using?Install AVG Antispyware then run SAFE MODE. This may take quite some time, an hour or so, depending on speed and infection How to start How to start Windows in Safe ModeFirst go here and print out the instructions on install / scan with AVGBe sure to check for the any updates to the program after you install these.Download and run ( formerly known as ewido) AVG Antispyware 7.5Following these instructions Download and run Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4 (with out tea timer option)Download and run SUPERantispyware, free version Home User Now Run Windows Windows OneCare LiveBe sure to click ONLY on the grey box below the picture of a wrench ?Full Service Scan?Again this may take some time especially it it needs to defragment the drive. Please post back with any questions and resultsClick "yes" to install any active X components these sites may ask for..Post back if you have any further questions

Oh.. one more thing.. It is also randomly disabling our wireless network connection.

Additional info: In looking at the log I see several AV programs that have been "deleted" if you can help me clean those up, I'd appreciate it. Currently we have uninstalled all the AV software. We do scans online.

Thanks!

I've had NOD32 Antivirus installed on my PC for a couple months and never any problems. All of a sudden, a Windows Security message pops up and tells me Windows did not find any antivirus software. My NOD32 is updated and nothing has changed.

How do I fix this?

A:Windows Security Center Error

I would reinstall NOD32, perhaps some files got corrupted. Of course, windows might be reporting a non-issue.

My system is running Windows 7.
Saw suspicious pop ups and ran rkill followed by MalwareBytes.
Malwarebytes found several problems and reported that they were repaired.

Now, system boots up fine.

However, after several minutes following boot up, McAfee reports that its firewall is turned off. McAfee firewall won't turn on when McAfee is opened.

MS Security center also won't start - system returns error that "Windows Security Center can't be started".

Hope you can help!

For almost 2 weeks now, I have had annoying Pop-ups from Windows Security Center, advertising anti-spyware programs etc. I have included a recent Hijackthis log, plus a Navilog for analyzing. Would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

A:Annoying Pop-Ups From Windows Security Center

Please copy and paste all logs.Thankyou..

Download Download SDFix from here and save it to your desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.

In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.

It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.

Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.

Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).

Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum.

=========================================

This will help to identify any malware on your system.
Please download Combofix from any of these locations:

Here
or
Here

Save ComboFix to the desktop.

1. Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
2. When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
3. Copy and Paste the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log. Do not use Code or html unless asked for.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang.

Caution...Never run and remove files using ComboFix without being supervised by a security analyst.

Hello Brandon Tech ShopWelcome to the Bleeping Computer Malware Removal Forum, sorry about the delay, but the amount of people posting with infected computers is through the roof and sometimes we can't get to logs as fast as we would like to. Sometimes with the amount of people posting a log or two may fall through the cracks as yours may have done, if you have not resolved your issue and still need assistance, post a new HJT log please as your system may have changed since your original post.Ken

Hallo!
I have installed MSE for several times, but the problem still the same.It is,that Windows 7 security center /the icon with the flag do not recon identify, that MSE is installed and report for a antivirus and Windows Defender are missing.
So,please help me !I love Microsoft Security Essential, and Im so unhappy.

A:Windows Security Center not identify MSE

Almost sounds like a virus or malware is running behind it preventing the system from seeing it - run malwarebytes and see what that finds...

If nothing, we can make the os identify the product manually.

Greetings everyone,
two days ago while I slept something disabled all security features on Windows 7 including Security Essentials, Windows Defender, Windows Firewall and most importantly System Restore which has NEVER failed me before. I says the restore point was damaged or discarded every time I try. I have tried like a Rubik's Cube to use the full system controls and the Internet to solve my problem but only Security essentials can be uninstalled and re installed and it works. Is there a specific virus that targets Windows Security Center, because it disables it completely?? Thanks for any help. I also use Stopzilla which failed me too I am sad to say.

Running NIS 2011 (v18.1.0.37) and Win7 Pro 32. All has been running well until today when windows security center suddenly reports that it is turned off. Starting windows security center via the services window causes windows defender & NIS to be turned off, both NIS & windows firewalls to be turned off & NIS virus protection to be turned off.

Any idea why windows security center is either being switched off or has suddenly started reporting its status and whether keeping it switched off is beneficial given that NIS is providing a firewall, virus protection etc.

Many thanks

Dave Allen

A:windows security center disabled

Go into service.msc and disable both Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Make sure you stop the service first.

Reboot and see if Security Center is still reporting a problem

Hi there, I am currently having a problem with my Vista machine.

Only recently I noticed Security center, Windows update, Windows defender, and windows firewall weren't functioning. The services to run these programs aren't there.

For example, the security center service isn't in services.

System restore is a no go as, well, that got disabled to

My guess is a virus or some sort of malware got onto my pc and played riot.

I got AVG internet security.

Any help? I am hoping that I don't have to do a clean install.

-Jack

EDIT: I got a security center snapshot : http://ipic.tk/s/epifi.jpg
