I have a computer that I built and I am pretty sure the motherboard is going out on me... Any suggestions for a new motherboard that will support the parts I already have from my previous build?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Anyways based on what I have listed what do you guys think is the best motherboard for this stuff. For price range I'm willing to spend some money if I need to so anything in the range of $150-$400 is an option, although preferably I would like it to be less than $250.Click to expand...

This board is $180 and will satisfy all your current and future needs.

Also if there are any issues with any of the parts I've listed that you guys can see let me know since I really don't know a ton about building computers. Thanks for any help you guys can provide!Click to expand...

In regards to PSU. I recommend getting something 700W or greater if you intend to crossfire. Corsair is a reputable name and I trust pretty much all of their PSU's except the builder series.

Why so much RAM? I ask because It's pretty tough to fully utilize 16GB of ram let alone 32GB.

Other then what I pointed out. It looks good. I am not sure how well crucial SSD's are. I haven't heard much on them, which isn't necessarily bad.

Good luck with the build!

It's an older AM2+ socket motherboard, but with a BIOS update I can use the 1100T. My dad wants to upgrade but not spend another wad of cash to get a new desktop, so I was thinking it would be better if he simply upgraded.

I was thinking about:

8GB DDR2 RAM @ 800 or 1066 MHz
HD 6850

My question is, what would the best power supply be for that build and if there are any bottlenecks I should be worried about?

Hi, I'm building a budget gaming PC but I don't know what motherboard to get. Here's the parts I'm planning on buying:

Intel Core i5-3570
Corsair Builder Series CX 430
Radeon HD7850

A H77 board will do as the cost of a K cpu and Z77 board (I presume) would cost way more. I'm thinking something around the price of a Asus P8H77-V LE.

A:What motherboard should I get for my build?

It matters on what brand you buy. Some H77 motherboards come close to low end Z77 boards. Also, the 3570K is just $20 more and allows for you to unlock your system fully as long as you have proper cooling.

If you would like, I can take a look at your build and recommend better components if I see it fit. Just provide me with a budget .

Okay, I know there are ATX, Micro-ATX, and all these other motherboard types, and I know they are not cross compatible. My question, if I was going to make a monster machine, which would be best for intensive work?

Put together a new build last night .Used MSI RS482M-IL socket 754 MB.Right from the start I had problems getting it to post.Unhooked everything abd had to reset cmos 5 or 6 times to get to post.Loaded windows and is stable.Windows is stable, ran memtest, burn In program, seems stable. When go into bios and go to hardware monitor It will freeze up and you cant get out of it till restart computer.Only in hardware monitor part of bios. Now it is acting up again and wont make the beep when booting up or let me back into bios.Windows loads ok though.Should I RMA the motherboard or try to flash bios with floppy?there is a newer version of bios out.Do you think flashing bios could solve problem?Replaced battery also.Used this same board couple weeks ago on another build and had zero problems.

send the motherboard back to manufacturer, i believe the BIOS chip is bad, or has to be reflashed. they should be able to fix your problem.

I am planning on building a gaming PC with a budget of around $900, I have chosen the Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card and the Intel Core i5-2500K processor. I am now choosing a motherboard for the build, do you think an MSI P67A-GD55 motherboard is a good choice for the build and budget?

Okay, I have narrowed my motherboard selection for my new Ivy Bridge build to the following:

2. (thanks to DividedbyZero for pointing this one out)

* I'll be running one video card. Gaming, some video rendering, 2010 Office, internet gaming, streaming, email, etc.

* I doubt I will be overclocking and have no need of all the "bells and whistles."

* Let me know what you think. Thanks.

A:Which motherboard would you choose? New Ivy build...

I am also preparing to build a Z77 system, so I read a LOT of MB reviews. Like you, I want the cheapest board that has the features I need, as long as it has no issues. After reading the NewEgg reviews on every Asrock Z77 board, I came to the conclusion that Asrock quality control sucks, their designs are iffy, and I will never buy a board from them. About half of the reviews are negative, with a full 25% D.O.A. Every manufacturer ships a certain percentage of DOA boards but 25% is ridiculous. As for the rest of the negative reviews, most pertain to inherent design flaws and boards that die after a week or a month. To me it looks like Asus has the best track record, with Gigabyte a close second. The only real difference in the Gigabyte boards is that the UD3H has 2 PCI-e 3.0 x 16 slots instead of 1, so I'd go with that board for the extra 5 bucks in case you ever want to try an SLI or Crossfire setup with 2 video cards.

I've started a new build. Got all the components, built it but when I start it up the DRAM and CPU Red LEDs start flashing, does not post and then turned off after about 10 secs.

I checked the RAM, connections, made sure the heatsink and everything was fine. I then reset the CMOS and tried again. This time only the CPU LED flashed once, and then again as the PC turned itself off, still with no post.

Components are:

Asus P7P55D Motherboard
Intel i5 661 (3.33GHz)
4Gb Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz
ATI Radeon HD 5850 GPU
850w PSU

Anyone have any ideas to what might be the problem, or could it just be a faulty MoBo/CPU?

Thanks in advance.

A:Transferring hard drive with OEM 7 to new motherboard/build

Unfortunately, OEM licenses of Windows 7 can only be installed on one motherboard. Unless the reason for the new motherboard is a defect of some sort, the OS will be unable to be licensed on the new motherboard. For more information, read the following excerpt from the Microsoft Licensing FAQ.

Q. Can a PC with an OEM Windows operating system have its motherboard upgraded and keep the same license? What if it was replaced because it was defective?

A. Generally, an end user can upgrade or replace all of the hardware components on a computer—except the motherboard—and still retain the license for the original Microsoft OEM operating system software. If the motherboard is upgraded or replaced for reasons other than a defect, then a new computer has been created. Microsoft OEM operating system software cannot be transferred to the new computer, and the license of new operating system software is required. If the motherboard is replaced because it is defective, you do not need to acquire a new operating system license for the PC as long as the replacement motherboard is the same make/model or the same manufacturer's replacement/equivalent, as defined by the manufacturer's warranty.

The reason for this licensing rule primarily relates to the End User Software License Terms and the support of the software covered by that End User Software License Terms. The End User Software License Terms is a set of usage rights granted to the end user by the PC manufacturer and relates only to rights for that software as installed on that particular PC. The system builder is required to support the software on the original PC. Understanding that end users, over time, upgrade their PCs with different components, Microsoft needed to have one base component "left standing" that would still define the original PC. Since the motherboard contains the CPU and is the "heart and soul" of the PC, when the motherboard is replaced (for reasons other than defect) a new PC is essentially created. The original system builder did not manufacture this new PC, and therefore cannot be expected to support it.

A:Can I build a gaming system with a mATX motherboard?

everything sounds good. Of course you can...

That is a micro ATX by its description, and you could make one hell of a gaming system with that board.

The video card you are planning on getting isnt bad either, I'm sure you will be able to run those games with that card.

Here is a list of motherboard that should work for you.

If that link doesnt work, here is a few direct links.

This is the one I might get though.. just my opinion.

Hope that helps...

Does the motherboard of the Revo Build (M1-601) require DDR3L or is it back compatible with DDR3?

Go to Solution.

A:Revo Build Motherboard Memory Compaitibilty

The Acer memory spec for that model is DDR3L only.  The Intel supported memory spec for the CPU for that model is DDR3L only.  Therefore you should use DDR3L only.  DDR3L SODIMM 1600 MHz

Hi I'm building a unit from scratch and I am a little bewildered by the amount of motherboards out there...

I am really looking for a board that will stand me in good stead for a while, preferable Intel, (Core 2 Duo compatible).

I will only be running one Sata drive and one ATA 100, with a DVD writer, one PCI slot will be used and I need a floppy drive. Not an amazing amount of options needed...

I am undecided as to whether or not I will need SLI, i totally don't have enough money to buy two cards at the moment, but would it be good to have it as an option for later?

+ are there any makes I should stay away from?

Did you burn the iso to a bootable media, then insert the media to the computer ?
If that was what you did, then you would NOT see the Mount option.
Instead, you would see the Setup option. Use that to start the installation.

Can I install Icon Packs designed for Build 7600 to Build 7601?

An Icon Pack was saying install on to 7600 only and after I checked my regedit, I learned that I have 7601 (Probably SP1, I don't know).

Would I have any problems if I install the icon pack?

A:Can I install Icon Packs designed for Build 7600 on to Build 7601?

You can normally install icons anywhere you like, on any machine or system which uses them, they are merely small graphics of various types. Unless the "Icon-pack" is using software to install something else, ( in which case be careful what it does), you can install it anywhere.

Some "Icon-packs" make extensive changes to system files, are dependent on the system to which they are installed, and best avoided.

It won't activate and you will end up in Safe Mode permanently. One machne = one license. You need to buy another full version. But you can do it if you don't use 7 on the old machine. You will just have to activate by phone and explain. Then if you go online with both, one will deactivate and go to Safe Mode.

I've been stuck on build 11102.rs1_release.160113-1800.
Going to Settings. Update & Security, Check for updates says "your device is up to date".
Checked for updates at least 10 times and always get the same response "Your device is up to date".

I don't want to download an ISO and clean install - I'd like to get the insider updates through
the standard update process.

Any suggestion or solutions?

A:build 11102 will not download latest build 14271

Try this - worked for me in a similar situation.

I deleted all folders in the software distribution folder, selected to leave Insider Program from updates menu, rebooted, rejoined Program and then it found the updates. Try just deleting folders first and checking for updates. That works for some but did not for me (it was the leaving and rejoining that seemed to do the trick).

If you try rejoining and leaving, make an image backup of 11102 first, just in case leaving and rejoining should cause it not to activate (especially if you never started from a valid 7/8 licence). Good idea to make the backup anyway in case the upgrade fails (you would then have to go back to 10586 and start afresh)

Somewhat unusual situation here. A machine running the latest build (11102) got badly infected by malware. It was such a major attack that I was about to reload the earlier day's image from my Windows Home Server. But it seemed even easier to revert to the previous build, not yet removed from the Windows.old folder. This I did, and everything soon was running fine as expected.

The issue is that the Updates check is not offering Build 11102 again. This isn't a showstopper; I'm sure there will be another newer build soon. But it would be nice to be back up on this latest build, just as all my other Win10 machines are running.

Does anyone know how to make this happen?

Windows 7 has reached RTM builds
and there will be several candidate builds in RTM.

first candidate build of RTM is build 7260.

6.1.7260.0.win7_rtm.090612-2110 - RTM branch build

compiled on 12 june.

You may ask why the first assembly win7_rtm has already been collected on 12 June not 15 June. There are several working groups involved in the process of assembling win 7 RTM build and will be assessing the quality of assemblies. Once the assembly is collected and its quality is confirmed, only then they put to the vote.

you may take time to understand all of these steps and procedures, so only the assembly from June 12 and June 15, attained the status of the real candidates for the final RTM release.

Hi (a post after a long time)
I've a F90M motherboard (with intel 915G chipset - i gues chipset doesn't have to do anything with front panel connections, but ... ). It came out of Acer 3700GX PC (i think its a bit old ).
Ok, now i'm trying to put it in a standard larger ATX casing. I've fitted it in and everything works fine except the front panel connections. I cannot identify the front panel connections and could only manage to identify the power switch pins on the motherboard.

I've searched over internet and couldn't find a manual of the motherboard (found manual for the PC on but it doesn't tell how to connect front panel)

so can you guys please suggest me the connections for front panel LEDs, Audio and USB.

and i really believe that you TSG guys are up to it

Thanks in advance

I've been looking for the front panel pin layout on the Dell Dual Xeon Motherboard with Dell P/N: 0WN7Y6 (it is a # zero, W, N, #7, Y, #6).
The front panel connector is 27-pin...28 spots with one pin left blank. The pin layout isn't included in the manual and I'm trying to boot two of these motherboards without the 27-pin connector. I just need to know which pins need to be jumpered in order to test for boot to BIOS.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Dell doesn't make the front panel connector pin-outs public. So unless you map them yourself or somebody else has done it...

I could use some creative customer service here. My M3800 shipped with the known power-on motherboard defect. It was replaced at no charge, which was very nice. However, the replacement (2nd motherboard!) is now having the same intermittent dead / no power problem.
To get the computer running, I have to remove the case (12 screws) and un-plug the internal battery to 're-set' the electrical fault. After I put it back together, the computer starts normally. This is not very convenient, especially when meeting with new clients.
The problem is that I am being told I am outside the 3-month repair warranty. I think this stinks! It's a known issue and I would like someone at Dell to step up make my expensive computer work normally all of he time.
Yes, I have run every diagnostic known to man and the internet.

Okay, so as the topic title implies, for the life of me, I cannot figure out which motherboard model I'm supposed to get for this Dell Inspiron 1300 here. Only info I have is that it has the Centrino sticker on the palm rest of the case, and I also have the service tag, but that doesn't seem to give me much information from what I've found.

I've taken the motherboard out of the thing and looked it over, but no luck, as I don't see the model number on it.

Will someone please tell me how I'm supposed to figure out the motherboard model number so I can get a new one?

hey guys, does anyone if there are any other drivers for this board? i'm looking at this page after selecting 'driver' and 'win7 64 bit'. i only see 'audio', 'chipset' 'LAN' and 'RAID'. on the other boards i've seen, the driver software was much more comprehensive and contained several different pieces of software.

what's the main driver i need to install after installing win7 for the motherboard? just wondering if i'm missing something and need to install something else for the 'main features'? or are there main features found in the BIOS before win7 boots up? how does win7 recognise the board btw? does the board have drivers built in already? how can winxp recognise mboards that have been made very recently?

thanks guys

A:Gigabyte motherboard: P55M-UD4 some questions on motherboard software

Those are all the drivers you need, and really all any motherboard needs to work. You also have some Utilities under the drop down menu of "Download Type" but these are optional tweaking and similar utilities not required for proper operation of the system. Any version of Windows will have limited driver support, enough to install and run until the correct drivers are installed, or for a SATA or RAID controller under Windows XP drivers are loaded via the F6 prompt during the initial stages of the XP install to allow it to detect the hard drive. There are no drivers built into the hardware itself.

Hello Pkshadow Welcome to the Ten Forums!

The prompting you are seeing is most likely to get you to notice and install updates that have been accumulating. Otherwise that is a strange one. You might have to sign into an MS account if you already had one setup in order to see that account's information updated on the change from Insider to Anniversary. That would then see everything synced properly.

A:Build specs. Can you build it?

The issue I see: your mobo supports "ONLY" 4th gen CPU and your CPU of choice is a 5th gen (gen=generation). Even though the mobo is socket 1150, same as CPU, there may bay some firmware incompatibilities. Not sure if there is a BIOS update for the mobo to support 5th gen CPU's, which I doubt it does.

So you may want to consider a new mobo that supports intel's 5th gen series CPU's. Also; there's no mention of a PSU (power supply). I would also move up to a GTX 970's just a better GPU period.

I just got my income tax return back and now it's time to update my PC. Please bear in mind I'm a newb!

I want to keep the following:

1. Corsair 750W PSU,
2. Antec 1200 case, and
3. EV3A 460GTX 756MB GPU.

In other words I likely need a new motherboard, processor, cooling fan for the processor, RAM, etc. I don't know if I'll need a sound card or ethernet card or if on-board will be good enough. I've heard from a couple friends that Asus Mobos are good. I think I want to go to an Intel processor as that's what I've had to this point and it's done well for me.

What are your thoughts? Where should I start looking?

A:Is a 60" Samsung Plasma HDMI motherboard compatible with a 52" Sony Bravia HDMI motherboard.

No, it would not be, in the past I had to repair a tv for a friend that had his board shorted that was an LCD Sony Bravia 52 Inch and its board was very specific as with all Sony Products. The Boards on the TV's are the hearts and the companies that built them don't allow for parts to be interchanged easily. Your best bet is ebay and finding the part number to find a board, that's how I got the one I used to fix it.

obviously i wouldnt want to send it back so what do ya think either upgrade my motherboard and smash the extra 4 gb in there or keep to my original one i dont have money to blow atall im really struggling if its something that will really make a difference ill go with it if not then ill just keep to my original and when i come to buy a graphics card i will get a 2gb graphics card to help with gaming all i really do is gaming i dont really do anything else

thankyou for your time

A:Motherboard 4gb Max or change motherboard for 8gb ?

I'd go with 4 gigs until you had a major reason to believe it wasn't enough. If that ever happens, consider your next move. Most people do just fine with 4 gigs.

I considered 8 gigs on my 4 slot board but decided against it and don't regret it.

Looks ok to me. I am not a fan of asrock boards however it is compatible with the cpu you have selected. Just one word of advise. You do understand that you have selected a micro board correct? This only has 2 memory slots along with just a few pci or pci-e slots. Since you are purchasing a K series processor, I assume you intend on overclocking. If that is the case, you might want to consider a higher end asus mb. If you do not intend on overclocking, then the non-K version of that cpu will save you a few $.

Hey guys,

So I just want to know, What is the best pc gaming build I can get for around $700-$800(Including Shipping + Tax. Live in canada so if you can list the parts off of canadian computer stores.)?
Any possible solution to running crysis 3 on a very high graphics should do the job.

Ps. I looked around the web and the build I did for myself was very expensive. I don't know how to build a good computer without going over my budget.

A:New PC build

Personally I think if you want a PC that can run crysis at a higher setting and not lagg your going to need to spend about 1000$ at least. I can do a build and get back to you tomorrow as im about to head to bed .

Edit: Build:

So I've done two builds one recommended and one to your budget. With the budget build I downgraded the HDD to 500GB which is fine, The Motherbaord I lowered as well I really recommend you going with the recommend one but if you can't the budget it MB should be ok. I downgraded the graphics card I'm not sure how this would affect Crysis 3's performance. I also dropped the RAM to 8GB with the room to expand later. However 8GB is the minimum I recommend for gaming at the moment. Just to note, my recommended is the minimum recommended
