Tried switching HD 5770 to HD 6770, fans just spin and no display

Q: Tried switching HD 5770 to HD 6770, fans just spin and no display

MSI 770-C45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular High Performance Power Supply
XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 - old video card
ASUS EAH6770/DI/1GD5 Radeon HD 6770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 - new video card

Replaced failing Radeon 5770 with Radeon 6770 and now it won't work.

Motherboard LEDs turn on, CPU and case fans turn on. Graphics card fan turns on and then keeps cycling faster-slower every five seconds or so. No signal through VGA or DVI.
The problem persists even when I put the old card back in. What could have gone wrong?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Friend has a HP Pavilion DV2000 Laptop. His display isn't work. Suddenly display gone. But I thought it could be Display problem not a VGA. So, i tried to connect an external monitor and used Shortcut keys to change the display. I pressed fu + F1 or Fu + F2 or Fu + F3 or Fu + F4 up-to F12. But no result.
I couldn't check whether it's a Display or VGA card problem. IS there any other way to check it. in addition to these is there any other combination keys to Change the display to an external monitor. I'm unable to check whether i get login or not. if I can login then i can use Windows Key + P. Then i can select mode. But I'm Unable to anything here. Please help me to find the problem and i have to take it to repairing shop.
Thanks in Advanced

A:Change display of laptop to external monitor

It should be the Fn + the key that shows a monitor symbol. If it still doesn't display, the motherboard video processor has failed, and not the LCD Panel

Hello,

I have been using the same set up for just over a year now and yesterday my monitor (which is just a TV with a HDMI port) stopped receiving signal.

I can boot up the pc and get the BIOS, which I can go into and see everything fine, as well as the windows loading icon but when it would normally go to the log in screen I get nothing.

I can however plug in an extra monitor (an actual Samsung monitor) with a VGA cable and it all works fine and on top of that if I connect the TV at the same time it works perfectly fine as a second monitor.

However if I try to turn off the VGA monitor and just use the HDMI TV then I get no video signal again.

No idea how to get my main TV monitor working again. Totally stumped.

OS: Windows 8.1

RAM: 8.00GB
Video Card: GeForce GT 620
MOBO: Asus Ranger VII

I have uploaded a video of my laptop to better show the problem:

I am thinking something is wrong with a connection or some cable just don't know which. Never fixed a laptop. I broke the panel before I figured out the screws were hidden behind tiny black covers. Also broke the metallic part of the screen on the right side but I guess I will crazy glue it somehow. My most important issue is the flickering.

If anyone knows how to fix this issue please let me know I would really appreciate it.

At certain position the screen doesn't flicker, mostly if it's set back at a greater than 90 degree angle.

A:Laptop display flickers

It's sensible to check the connectors to the screen but unless you find a video of how to get inside your particular laptop and study it you are highly likely to break other pieces too. I worked out how to take mine apart thanks to Google but although I was careful I still broke a connector. Putting that right took me ages.

NOW, without the graphics card the computer runs fine. When I install the ddriver's for the r9 it will work, but eventually the display driver stopped working makes its way back.

I've ran all diagnostics on the memory and checked temperstures which all turned out to be fine.

I sent the card into xfx and they returned it saying it's fine.

WTF DO I DO MATES. I think it's the card....but that's just me.

I could use some advice. My second monitor just died, and I would like to find a replacement with a few specific features.

27 inch
Adjustable White Point
As low as possible wattage

As I understand it, having a white point that is adjustable separately from brightness and temperature controls provides a better way to dim the white without dimming other colors. If I am not understanding this right, please correct me. The reason for looking into this is because of my eyes being sensitive to light. If I could, I would replace all white that comes through my monitor with a light tan. That's how bad it is. So, if there is a way I can better adjust how bright the white is, I'll probably take it.

The low power I want for reduced heat. With two screens this size, heat is obviously a problem. So far, I have only found that reducing wattage will have a noticeable decrease in heat. If there is something else, feel free to clue me in.

Thanks all!

I came home one day to find that my monitor was no longer displaying my PC via HDMI. After a lot of testing, I've found that the monitor works with other PCs via HDMI, and my PC works with other monitors via HDMI, but they don't work together. All I get is a black screen. I know that my PC's resolution is set to one that my monitor can display. I've tried several different cables. I have absolutely no idea what the issue might be, and I'm pretty much at my wit's end here. Any ideas?

Hello,

I remote into my home PC from work using the Chrome Remote Desktop tool. It works well. The problem is the screen resolution. The monitor I use at work isn't the same as the one on my home PC. This causes the resolution to be a little blurry and images to be slightly small.

When I disabled my monitor completely at home, the resolution was clear and it worked well. I just unplugged the monitor from my PC. Is there a way to completely disable a monitors input without having to physically disconnect it from the PC? I've tried disabling it in the Device Manager and that didn't do the trick. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Speck

A:2nd display black screen

Try changing cables first, by some chance the cable has gone bad.

Sounds like it could be a lighting issue within the monitor. If it is a backlight issue, the monitor will still be displaying an image. You will not be able to see the image without some kind of lighting. If you can use a flashlight to expose the image, you would at least know it is a backlighting issue. I've been able to use this technique on phones as well as monitors.

I have been looking around and cant find a cut and dry answer to my problem.

What I'm looking to do I set up 6 monitors on 2 gtx 980's. My question is if its possible to have 3 monitors running in landscape as well as 3d and the other 3 as separate workspaces. Or can you only get 3 total monitors to work with nvidia 3d. And it gets more complicated when SLI comes into the picture since I would like to maximize my cards. But correct me if I'm wrong, SLI essentially turns my 2 cards into 1 not allowing me to utalize all the video ports on the 2nd card. Meaning I won't even be able to accommodate 6 monitors? I may just have to do without SLI.

So again. 3 monitors in surround 3d. 3 monitors not inside the 3d or surround environment. Off of 2 Gtx 980's. Possible? If not is there a way to accomplish this with other hardware.

Thanks for your time. SF

This is going to sound odd, but I need a way of powering two 120mm exhaust fans in the top of my PC case.

For some reason, these particular fans keep burning out the power connectors that I plug them into. The fans are not obstructed and spin freely. I don't think replacing them will necessarily fix the issue (though I plan to do that as well). I think it's just "drag" from trying to suck air out of a smallish mid-tower case.

I need another way of powering these fans (at least until I can figure out why they they keep burning out my plugs). I considered the USB port, but they only output 5v and not enough amps (and last thing I want is to burn out a USB port.).

Batteries may work, but they'd drain awfully fast.

Any other ideas? Thx.

A:Externally powering 2 fans?

What do you mean they are burning out your plugs?

Do they only have the tiny motherboard connector on them and not a molex? The fans shouldn't draw many watts, what fans are they and do they have a power consumption sticker on them?

I know you want a fix before replacing the fans, but this obviously isn't normal behavior and I'd worry about causing permanent damage to something else. Maybe you should also look into higher CFM intake fan(s) if you suspect they are working too hard drawing (although I really doubt that is the case).

I usually connect the vga cable from my monitor to the port on my gpu,but for some reason it doesn't display anything now.

I tried to locate the source of the problem by doing these

1) Connected the vga cable from my laptop to the monitor, and it displays the laptop's content just fine so the monitor/cable isn't the issue.

2)Connected the cable to the vga port on my samsung smart tv and to the slot on my gpu and my desktop boots and functions just fine.

3) I opened up my cpu cabinet and dusted the ram and the video card and put everything back in place but that didn't help either.

I don't have a DVI cable with me so I can't check if that works and I don't have another similar monitor either I can test it on other than my tv.

Hey guys,

Just signed up although I have been following these forums for a few weeks now

Just after some advice. Basically I have the FX-8350 but I'm looking at switching to Intel (specifically the 4770k) as I've been told it's better for the GPUs I have, currently running dual-290x setup. Someone said the 8350 causes a lot of bottlenecking and that I would get a lot more out of them if I switched to the 4770k? Can anyone attest to that?

Cheers

A:Switching to Intel

The 8350 is more than enough. The i7 could gain you a few frames per second (FPS) depending on the game (somewhere from 5 FPS to as much as 15 FPS). I would keep the 8350 until more attractive CPU options come out like Haswell-E or the next generation of AMD FX CPUs or even the 5th generation of Intel's i7.

The reason I am saying this is because the 8350, while it may not perform as well as the 4770K (not by much), the 8350 completely serves your needs and there is no need to upgrade to a 4770K at this moment since it wont bring you that much of an improvement.

I hope this helps.

Hi, I have a Corsair 550D and was going to get a h100i because I didn't realize I could put the H110 radiator on the side panel and have it exhausting air.

So let's say that's what I do, I have the H110 rad on the side panel exhausting air. That leaves me with the rear fan, the two top fans, the two front fans and the bottom fan. What configuration would give the best cooling with the H110 rad on the side exhausting air?

Thanks

A:How should I set up my case fans with a H110 rad on the side?

Well, mounting it on the side is an interesting choice but could work just fine. You have to remember though, hot air rises so you must keep that in mind when building your system.

If I was doing this, here is what I would do:

Front Fans Intake
Bottom fans Intake
Rear Fan Intake
Top fans Exhaust
Radiator Exhaust

That will keep a steady flow of cool air over your components. That in my opinion will be the best setup.

Anyone else have trouble with these fans in regards to their reliability? I bought over $100 worth of Aerocool's Shark red edition (of the 120mm and 140mm variety) case fans and a little over a year later the bearings are already starting to go. These fans seem to have a good reputation and they aren't exactly cheap, so I'm surprised that they are giving me these problems.

Two of the 120mm fans started grinding\buzzing all of the sudden and it was very annoying. A month later one of the 140mm fans started doing the same thing. This isn't something that goes away after lubrication and I can even feel it rubbing when I spin the fan manually. They utilize fluid-dynamic bearings so I would have expected them to last a lot longer.

A:Aerocool Shark case fans

I have these:
http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16835129061
They are the Aerocool shark 140mm red edition (3 of them) and I've had limited problems. Two are mounted on a 140mm radiator vertically and they have had zero problems. The third is a bottom intake mounted horizontally and it's had a few minor issues. So far for me they are working fine and sounding good, the bottom one just had this odd grease appear on the fins which I cleaned off but it's still silent like the others.

I have not tried dissembling them yet, but if they are rattling, check if you can rma under warranty or try greasing them yourself.

Hey everyone I idle monitors display Dual PC after anything won't occasionally is ve been having a recent issue with my monitors and it s really been stumping me lately I recently acquired a nd Yamakasi x monitor from South Korea I love these things and while the monitors themselves are working quite well I ve been having an issue since I connected the nd one Occasionally maybe - of the time when the PC has been idle for long enough that Dual monitors occasionally won't display anything after PC is idle the monitors have turned off when I come back to the PC and move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard the monitors turn back on and I am promptly greeted with a black screen on both however it appears that there IS a signal as the monitors turn on and remain on however that signal is just a blank black screen I ve got both monitors beside each other and the one on the left side is plugged directly into the dual link DVI port on the back of my master in my crossfire configuration The right-side monitor is plugged into an active displayport to dual link DVI adapter which also requires a USB port for power When I notice this black screen effect I also notice a small thin blueish bar spanning the height of the right monitor at the far right side of the screen this bar looks about the same thickness as the side edge of an open window in Windows but I ve never been able to tell if that s what it is or not UPDATE Upon closer inspection of the quot blue bar quot I can now tell that it doesn t look quite the same as the Windows side edges of a window It does span the entire vertical length of the screen it s about - pixels wide fairly bright blue and the far left or right seems to be random as to which it is column of pixels is a brighter blue than the rest Also the line isn t QUITE at the far edge of the screen it s offset from the edge by about another - pixels When I get this black screen effect the mouse cursor will never appear and no matter what I do including pressing control-alt-delete nothing else will ever appear on the screen If I press the power button I can see and hear my PC doing the usual process that it does when Windows goes through a normal shut-down which is the current setting for the functionality of the power button and then it turns off like normal Upon restart the issue is gone of the time until the PC is left idle again except that the right-hand displayport adapter monitor is not recognized by Windows upon reboot until I unplug and replug it I m running Windows Professional and I just freshly reinstalled Windows on a blank solid state drive within the last two weeks It appears to me that Windows is still running just fine since it seems to shut down normally and it looks almost as though the black screen is a huge window that is stretched almost fully across my monitors with only the far right edge visible and without any way to interact with this window However I also wonder if it could be an issue with the dual link display port to DVI adapter because every single time upon restart of the PC after this issue occurs it only recognizes the left side monitor and won t recognize the right one until I unplug the adapter from the displayport and reinsert it Obviously I don t want to be unplugging and replugging my monitor on a daily basis so I m wondering if anyone has heard of a similar problem or what I could possibly do about this Thanks in advance everyone nbsp

A:Dual monitors occasionally won't display anything after PC is idle

Update: I've discovered that usually the problem can be solved by unplugging and replugging the displayport adapter while the PC is on, but only if the aforementioned "blue line" is present on the right-hand screen when I move the mouse. Yesterday, I had a similar issue except that instead of turning back on and detecting the PC's video signal which is just a black screen for both of them (with blue bar on the right one), the monitors (both of them) refused to even acknowledge that there was a signal coming to them at all and wouldn't even turn their backlights on or wake from sleep mode. Even when I hooked up 2 different monitors using standard DVI-D single link or dual link cables, I still could not get any video signal to output at all, to ANY monitor.

Turning my speakers on, I found that I could hear the Windows 8 "device connect" and "device disconnect" sounds when I unplugged or replugged either of my 27" monitors, but nothing at all was heard when attempting to switch to other monitors. This tells me that Windows IS detecting and seeing the monitors, but somehow the video signal is just not reinitializing properly after the computer turns the monitors off after idle time.

The only solutions I've got at the moment are to set Windows to NEVER turn my monitors off, or to shut down the PC every single time I'm done with it; neither of these solutions are particularly pleasing to me. Please let me know if anyone has any advice at all, even if it's just an idea that may or may not work out.

BTW my PC specs are:

2500K currently at stock settings
16 GB Patriot DDR3-1333
MSI Z68A-GD55 B3
2x Radeon HD 7950 also currently at stock settings
120 GB Vertex 3 (OS/main apps drive)
1TB WD Blue
1TB WD Black
1000W Cooler Master modular PSU

I have a board that has dual AMD Athlon 64 FX-74s, the fans are incredidbly loud and I searched online but all I found were pretty much the exact same ones that I already have. I don't want to replace the current fans with identical ones that I will probably have the same problem with... So I was wondering if anyone knew of some compatible replacements for these... I would like ones that will give good air flow for the price seeing how I will need 2 of them....

Thanks

Please help. I have just purchased a HP Pavilion p62480ea desktop PC. This all worked fine out of the box.
I also purchased a Geforece GTX 650 Ti graphics card - when I put this in I'm getting no signal on my monitor - using HDMi and DVI cables. (I also installed a new 430w power supply)

When I take the graphics card out and go back to the GPU on the motherboard everything works fine.

I've read that going into the BIOS and turning off delete/uninstall the video driver in device manager>>>turn off computer>>>install the graphics card - has worked for others.
I've tried going into the BIOS but I'm getting no signal when I restart this way.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

What the title says. I am looking for the best air mover for the lowest sound in that range. Im not expecting close to the best I can get at all.

I dont care about sound THAT much, but my PC now gets rather loud under load and I just want to make sure a bunch of fans (5 or 6) wont contribute to noise.

Oh and also, I just want 2 blue LED ones-im getting a corsair C70 and that already comes with 3 fans so I should be plenty set after that

These are cheaper, but more noisy options:

For the last year I have been happy to use the VGA cable for my pc because I was connecting it directly to the vga port in my tv monitor It did the job perfectly with full p HOWEVER If I try to plug in the HDMI which I will have to do with the new gpu I am HDMI VGA - 5770 vs Sapphire getting I would get the inch black border problem Apparently this happens when you use ATI cards with tv s instead of a monitor So I figured go into the AMD vision engine control centre and adjust Sapphire 5770 - VGA vs HDMI the scaling This gets rid of the black border and boosts me back up to the proper side for p on my tv The problem I now have is that my image looks a complete mess it looks pixilated so I took down the contrast and sharpness on the settings for the monitor but it still looks like crap Does anyone have any solutions as to how I can get the best image Sapphire 5770 - VGA vs HDMI quality from my hdmi tv with the hdmi cable from my nbsp

A:Sapphire 5770 - VGA vs HDMI

Sortta, I had a similar issue where the image quality just did not live up to what HDMI was, now bear in mind for me I have 6990s so things might be slightly different, but you should have the same control panel look/configs.

Now I first set the monitor to overscan in catalyst control center which is under My Digital Flat Panels, and then scaling options which will remove the border.

Next is the other part I had to do, in the same area under My Digital Flat Panels, go to HDTV support, from there, you should see some lists that you can scroll through, in the top list look for the NTSC (Well you need to use your area, NTSC is in America) and click the one for your display (Which if im guessing correctly, should be a check mark in the Box for 1080p60).

Hope that helps, if it doesn't let me know!

Hello all,

I need help to set up fans because I'm new with this. My motherboard is Biostar a780l3l and has a SYS_FAN1. Do I put one fan there? Do I need just one fan or more? My case has 3 spots to put fans on, 2 on the side and one from behind.
Or do I put one fan in the motherboard and other 2 in the PSU?
If I only need one fan do I put it in the motherboard or PSU?
I'll upload my dxdiag just in case.

A:Help with setting up Fans

It does not really matter how or where you hook fans up unless you want to be able to control the speeds via the motherboard or if the fans have built in fan controllers (Like switches on them for high and low).

The only spot you definintly need hooked up (Unless your using a fan controller) is the CPU fan one since im assuming your not using a fan controller. IMO, you should hook up to the motherboard because the system will decide on fan speeds for you.

Hiya,

trying to resolve an issue with my homebuilt computer crashing while playing games. I had an HIS Radeon 5770 installed. I removed it and put in a Radeon 6670. When I powered the computer up, I got "no signal" on my display. I removed the new card and put in the old card again. "no signal"

I tried both in another PCIe slot. "no signal"

For the record, I have a Rampage III Formula mobo. There's no onboard video, so I can't try the computer without a video card.

Help?

4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Current GPU - : Nvidia EN210GT(Silent series)
1TB HDD - WD.

MOTHERBOARD : INTEL DH61ww

Problem: when I use my old GT210 my monitor shows up everything. Works perfectly.
when I put my NEW HD6670 , Im getting NO Display from the CPU /GFX card.
PLEASE HELP ME !
My Monitor is DELL IN1920 which has only a VGA Port & my HD6670 has VGA , DVI & HDMI port .
BUt I tried all still got NO Signal.
I tried this card on other pc. It worked but idk why isnt working on this.

A:Monitor - No display when i put my HD6670 into motherboard

Try this: With the GT 210 installed uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver from Add or Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Features (Windows 7). Shut down PC and remove old card and insert new card. Connect video cable to new card and turn on PC. See if the monitor displays anything. If it works, install the latest AMD graphics driver.

A:Dxdiag not showing display device

Are you sure your DVI, display port, HDMI, etc is connected to the graphics card not to the onboard graphics? Try reseating the card on another PCIe x16 slot. Make sure the display connections are connected to the GPU not the onboard graphics. Do the clean install to the latest stable drivers (314). Driver sweeper should have cured any software issues. If the reseating, checking the connectors, etc doesnt work, it is most likely an issue with the card.

Just got a general question about the cooling fans in my desktop tower. I recently bought a used full tower and I put my parts from my other case in this one and I believe it is a Chieftec Dragon case and it has 2 intake and 2 outtake fans in it and it has no side fan like my other case. I have a dual core cpu with 4GB ram, a 9800GT card and a 450 psu. So what I am wondering is, do I really need the 2 intake and 2 outtake fans or would just one of each be enough and also should I make a hole for a side fan? I use speedfan and temps are normal but just wondering about the amount of fans I really need for that type of hardware. Thanks.

A:Do I need four fans or would two be enough?

Listen, why don't you just disconnect a fan or two, then read the temps again. (Under load, of course).

That's probably more accurate than anybody on this end just taking a wild guess, wouldn't you say?

You can always buy a fan controller, and speed the fans up when necessary, and turn them down for the quiet when the machine isn't working hard.

Hi guys I have an issue with the above mentioned graphics card,
my system,

Cmx45 mobo, Intel core 2 duo cpu, winpower 550W power supply,
3GB ddr2 800MHz ram, 2 x 500GB 1 x 1TB Hard Drives, x-fi extreme audio.

I had a gts450 card in, worked perfectly. Now I tried my HD5770
and there's no display. When I plug the 6 pin power lead in the 5770
the fan runs, but when it's not plugged in the fan runs louder/faster, what's up with that?

Anyway when the 5770 is plugged in and I boot up I get one beep, so all good.
I haven't tried vga yet, only hdmi.
I just want to know (at this point) Could it be my power supply?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Any suggestions?

A:HD 5770 no output

This is one of those 'shotgun' approach cases. You'll have to try a couple things.

Best case scenario, you have a neighbor or friend close by with some parts you can swap / test to find what's working and what isn't.

Other things to check. Update bios if it's an older one.
Make sure you have the latest graphics driver.

Possibly your PSU if it was a cheapy. What make/model is it?

Could not really tell you why the card went bad, But they do sometimes. If you have a warranty on it . I would send it back for a replacement. Seeing as it not your main board . All your other video graphics work.

Hi all,

Looking to make my system a bit quieter, could you tell me what fans would be the loudest out of these?

ATI HD 4870 1GB PowerColor
AMD PHENOM II X4 955 @ 3.4ghz STOCK COOLING
ANTEC TRUEPOWER 550watt PSU

also im looking to upgrade my GFX card to a:

MSI HD 7850 2GB TWINFROZR II

I hear it should be quieter and cooler than my current one, any opinions?

Thanks

A:Which of these fans is the loudest?

The fan in the HD4870 is probably the loudest.

A:Two fans inactive

I've added the system information to code tags as the list distracts those replying or reading the thread.

The first thing to do would be to remove the side panel on the case and actually visually inspect whether all four fans are running. Next step is to check how they're wired in to the system. You really can't trust Speedfan to be correct in either case as it won't know if any fans are not connected to the fan headers on the motherboard, or any "paired up" either.

When was the last time you cleaned out the inside of the case and the CPU heatsink? Does it use an aftermarket cooler or the original Intel version? It wouldn't hurt to remove this cooler, clean it and then apply new thermal paste when refitting it.

I've started building a new system with a M5A78L-M usb3 motherboard , I've fitted the basic components in and wired it all but when I try and turn on the system all that happens is the fans receive power for a second and go dark. There is no boot up process occuring , BIOS doesn't appear on my screen. The power Led is showing green on the motherboard which shows it has power, I've tested it with the hard drive and without in case it didn't recognize the hardware as well as the RAM. I don't suppose anyone has any ideas because I'm stumped?

Is this your first build? If you have connected all the power supply wires to the motherboard properly, pull out all the memory and power up. You should hear continuous beeping. If you don't, the motherboard may be defective

A:I am thinking about upgrading my CPU and switching over to Intel but...

Depends on what you're doing - if you do a lot of video encoding or CPU heavy tasks then it might be a worthwhile upgrade but if not then either upgrade your GPU if your main focus is gaming or SSD if you just want a more responsive machine for general use.

Unless your current CPU is frequently running at 100% there's no real reason to spend so much on an upgrade to a 3570K especially as Intel's next gen Haswell processors are coming out in a few months.

Hello,

I bought an industrial 42" PC screen recently and a new computer as well. Unfortunately when I turn on the computer it only displays as a 15" screen rather than 42" as it should

I have a HDMI cable plugged in and bought a graphics card but neither have solved the problem. The screen is made by Winmate and was purchased off ebay. The seller assured me that it worked "fine" for him and showed a full screen and was very unhelpful.

I can provide screenshots once I get home.

Hello, I'm just wondering if it is possible for a PSU to stop delivering power to case fans due to aging/dying or would my case fans really be dead and in need of replacement.

A:Aging PSU or genuinely dead case fans?

How old is the power supply? Also, how many case fans do you have? It seems unlikely that the power supply would stop sending power to the case fans only. If everything else is working the way it should, perhaps your case fans are dead.

My computer came with a piece of software for monitoring fan speed etc. Whenever I launch it, it says "Warning! Chassis fan 0 rpm" to tell me the chassis fans aren't turning. However, they never seem to turn on! I don't know if it's normal, and I'm just worrying over nothing, or if there's something wrong. I've attached a screen shot to show what the software says.

Scoonesy

A:Chassis fans not working?

this could be a number of things. Are the fans actually turning on. If they are the software is clearly not detecting them. the likelyhood that both fans went out at the same time tells me that its probably something else other than your fans misbehaving.

1.if you need to they will have two wires connecting them to the motherboard. make sure that is firmly seated in the connector on the board.
2. see if you have any yellow exclaimation points in the device manager
3. try hitting that "update" button or reinstalling that particular software so the software can reinitialize.
4. show me what the screen shot of the fan speed tab.

I wouldnt sweat this issue. If you see the fans are spinning and the board temp is reasonable you've got nothing to worry about.

Hello

So I have had a big problem with my computer. It does not happen that often but when it does it is really annoying and scary. My computer just shutsdown and a screwed up noise goes through the speakers and the fans goes sky high! It happened one time when I play crysis 2. I played it for like 5 minutes before it happened. I booted the computer up and then I had a look at my temps which where around 50C. Started up crysis again and played for like 10 minutes and it only went up to 70C. So it is not an overheating issue! What should I do?

Thanks for any help!

I have an ASUS P8B75-MLE Micro ATX motherboard, it only has 1 chassis fan header. My case (HAF 922) as 3 fans. My PSU is an OCZ ZT Series 650W.

What kind of adapters do I need to connect them all up?

A:Connecting chassis fans to the motherboard

Hi alexjsc, One way to power extra fans is to tap off 12v from one of your 4 pin molex connections, to, say a DVD drive.
There are molex adapters which have a plug on one side and a socket on the other, plus a small plug for one of your extra fans.
You need to check the number of pins on your fans connections, could be 3 or 4, but you need power for 3 fans also.
Also, do you want to be able to slow the new case fans, or to have them running full speed always.
This is the type of connector;

Right so I recently got xfx 6770 and I overclocked it and I done my homework looked at what clocks are stable and searched around a bit and basically I am having some heat issue related problems as when it's under full load in a game it will go up to 80 celsius and thats not it though it then starts freezing getting jumpy and screen tearing and it then ends up with a full lock up and ends up with a screen just with stripes you cant see anything and then forces me to restart. I tried everything and now I decided to turn to this page see if anyone has a solution and by the way I do have my fan at 100% but when on high overclocks it stresses the gpu and causes the same stuff only when on 100% fan cooling

80 degrees is nowhere near the thermal limit of the cards, they are rated for ~105 Celsius. I woulds make sure everything on the car is nice an screwed in, and screwed in solidly. Also what clocks are you getting the 6770 up to, every card is different some may not overclock at all. You could get GPU-Z and just send over the sensors tab, and check the asis quality of the card.

So I'm running two XFX HD 5770's at 850/1200 mhz, 85% fan speed. Air flow is pretty decent, although the PSU sits a little close to the bottom card. While gaming I'll hit up to 76-77C but never over 80C. I've read a few posts and reviews and heard that these cards can run sub-90C fine, but a lot of these included users running their fan speeds at like 60% or below.

My question is : Is reaching almost 80C at 85% fan speed too high? Is it safe to run this for 3-5 hours a day/ 7 days a week?

Thanks for any info/help you can give

A:CF 5770 load temps

If your cards are right next to each other then yeah, they will run pretty hot.

It's pretty common to see GPUs running at 80-90C and they're designed to take that kind of temperature anyway, wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. 3-5 hours a day isn't really that much compared to bitcoin miners who run 24/7.

A:Screen display problems

Ok, ANY strange noises or high pitched sounds from a PC is something to be concerned with - it could be trouble. My advice, shut down your tower, unhook everything, take it outside & blow all the dust out of it! you'll need like 3 or 4 cans of air (b/c they freeze up bout 1/2 way, need to rotate) or an air compressor w/ the regulator set no higher than 45psi. Once you have the tower cleaned out, get to a very well lit area, or get a bright flash light, expect the system board, graphics cards, any expansion cards, spin fans with your finger, they should spin freely and continue to spin just a bit after. if fans are tight, replace them. on the system board, look for swollen capacitors (they look like little 1/3" barrels sticking up on the circuit boards see image) - specifically around the heatsink of the CPU - this is where the voltage regular is for the system board. if any of the capacitors are swollen, or oozing black or while slimly looking stuff - be wary. if you have a camera, post a pic or two if you find swollen/oozing or questionable capacitors. if you have none, great! if all your fans are spinning freely, great! Just keep an ear & eye out for issues as such. FYI keeping the inside of the PC clear of dust & debris keeps it running cool. hope this helps, take care!

Ok, assuming everything is powering on as it should with proper connections, is the primary graphic adapter set to PCI-E in the BIOS?
If so, try hooking up the monitor with another system (maybe your friend's) and see if it's working. If it isnt, get it replaced.

I've just switched from the Corsair H100 to the Corsair H80 Liquid CPU Cooler. I liked the H100, but it was just making way too much noise. The H80 -- while maintaining temperatures that are about 2C lower than the H100 -- is a good deal more quiet: a compromise I'm willing to live with.

I presently have stock Corsair fans mounted on the H80. I figure I can cut down a bit more on the noise by using better quality 120mm fans. Have you guys any suggestions as to what brands and models I should look into?

The H80 radiator is cooled by two 120mm fans in push-pull configuration. I've read a few reviews online -- but I think I'm better off with hardware that Techspot members have tried and tested. I use my rig for gaming. My specs are on the drop down.

Noctua NF-P12-1300

Nice and quiet.
Or anything with high static pressure to blow through the radiator.

did you plug the monitor into the board or the 6850? Just use the VGA/DVI adapter that came with the GPU and you should be good.

Hello everyone, nice to be here.

I have an Asus p6t se and just upgraded the video card to an inno 3d gtx 570 but it wont boot, just gives 1 long and 3 short beeps. I swapped out the video card with my old one and it boots fine. I'm wondering if it's a power issue. On my Inno 3d gtx 570 are 6 power pins and 8 power pins, The box came with a converter for the 6 pins but not the 8 and I'm wondering if I need both.
Any light you could shed would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes you need both of the pins connected to the power supply.

What PSU have you got?

Replace the LCD panel including the backlight. External monitor okay, motherboard is okay... Slight chance of a damaged LCD cable to motherboard

Hello. Since a year ago I have been seeing white lines across the screen of my laptop. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR430E Laptop. The white lines/band running horizontally across the screen is not permanent, and goes off if point pressure is applied from the top coverside of the screen, or on the face of the screen.

The problem seems like a lose connection but one could not be found when the laptop was opened up.

Do note, that the LCD screen does work and does not go off or black when these white lines take over. Also the white lines are not constantly going across the screen and usually only last for a few seconds. Also when the laptop is hooked up to a TV via a VGA cable, the white horozontal lines do not show up on the TV even when they are on the computer.

A:Daily white lines across Sony VAIO laptop display

The LCD panel needs to be replaced. It probably got damaged by excessive pressure on the top of the closed laptop, one too many times

Well, first things first. Make sure all cables are plugged in correctly, all the way. Never hurts to check.
Chances are you know how to plug in your monitor so we wont spend anymore time on that. Could you give some more details about your system? What hardware are your running? Does the system have integrated video or a dedicated graphics card?

Recently built this pc but i made a mistake by buying a 6770 when i have the money for a 6870.

i3 2100
700w OCZ ModXStream8
8gb ddr3 1333
19' monitor

how much more performance would i see if i switched to a hd 6870?
Also what would be a fair price to sell a 6770 in mint condition

A:Upgrading HD 6770

The 6870 is about twice as powerful. Check this review for a good comparison of other GPUs.

You could try returning it to where it is you bought it from and see if they accept paying a difference and getting a 6870 instead?

Hello all A few or POST fans display no work, system; and Homebuilt lights but weeks ago one of my friends and I decided to build a PC for my dad we both have minimal experience but my friend has built PCs before I ve helped others design PCs Homebuilt system; fans and lights work, but no display or POST but I ve never physically built one Anyway I checked everything out to make sure it s all compatible technically it should work but we Homebuilt system; fans and lights work, but no display or POST ve run into a few problems After connecting everything to the appropriate terminals and turning on the machine I noticed Homebuilt system; fans and lights work, but no display or POST that all of the fans including the CPU fan were in perfect working order the case LEDs hooked up to the mobo work fine and the mouse and keyboard light up when the PC is turned on However there is no response from the Disk Drive or Hard Drive and the monitor claims there is quot no incoming signal quot All of the hardware is brand new straight out of the box so I m not sure what the problem is Any suggestions are most welcome as I have four days to finish this thing Here are the specs There is no graphics card because my friend informed me that the particular CPU we picked out has HD graphics onboard meaning we wouldn t need a graphics card The monitor is rather old and has a D-Sub connector but it was working well last week and the mobo I picked out is compatible with D-Sub CPU Intel Core i - Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-H M-DS Micro ATX Intel Motherboard Disk Burner ASUS DVD CD Player Burner Tower NZXT Source Elite White Steel RAM G SKILL Ripjaws Series GB x GB Hard Drive II Seagate Barracuda GB Power Supply Corsair quot CX Builder Series quot nbsp

A:Homebuilt system; fans and lights work, but no display or POST

There is no onboard video on that board. Not sure why your friend told you that, cpu has nothing to do with it. You will need to add a graphics card to fix your problem. Here are the board specs.. If you can exchange the board for it's z68 counterpart (paired with your i3) you could than get onboard graphics and not need a GPU.

Hi all I am having problems with the fan of my Ninja cpu cooler days ago when I turned on the computer a CPU for doesn't Ninja (Scythe after year 3) fan My spin working I found out that the CPU fan wasnt spinning because of the quot CPU Fan error quot warning and I tried to plug another fan in the CPU FAN motherboard connector the fan of the stock My CPU fan (Scythe Ninja 3) doesn't spin after working for a year cpu cooler and when I started the computer it spinned so I thought that the Ninja fan was wrong and I decided to take it to the store where I bought it in order to get it replaced But next day I turned on the computer and the fan was spinning at the correct RPM S so I didnt take it to the store and the next days it worked too yesterday I didnt use the computer but today I started the computer and I got the quot cpu fan error quot warning again And here is my doubt today I have tried to plug the fan in another connector of the motherboard instead of the CPU Fan one and it worked s and it seemed to me because of the noise that it was spinning faster than normal and I found in the motherboard user guide that the connector in which I My CPU fan (Scythe Ninja 3) doesn't spin after working for a year plugged the fan CHA FAN is a V one I dont know if this is too much voltage because it doesnt say the CPU fan connector s voltage but I thought that the normal voltage for a fan was V that would explain the higher speed I think sorry for my ignorance here is the page of the motherboards manual with the information of the different fan connectors Please help Why does the fan spin when pluged in to the CHA Fan connector but not in the CPU Fan one Can I use the computer with the fan connected to the cha fan connector For what I said do you think that it is the cooler fan what is broken or it can be the motherboard s cpu fan connector and why did the fan just stop spinning after year of working properly S thank you and sorry for my english Im spanish nbsp

A:My CPU fan (Scythe Ninja 3) doesn't spin after working for a year

We likely need to know more about your system... It is not unusual for a quality CPU fan to give up after a year of hard use.
Hard to give you an answer without knowing the motherboard, power supply, operating system and such... as well as scans for infestations.

Hi' I have 2 Radeon HD 5770, but most of the time i only use one of them. because it feels like the games run better and smoother when not using crossfire

Anyone having the same problem, or know whats wrong?

My Spec:
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-790xta-UD4
Graphic interface - 2x Radeon HD 5770
Memory - 4 gb DDR3 (1333 MHz i think)
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 945
CPU Speed - 3013,4 MHz
Power Supply Make/Model - Corsair TX850W
Watt output/Amperage - +12V 70A 850W

A:HD 5770 Crossfire problem

I dont run crossfire, i do run sli however.

Do you use a program to measure your framerates while playing games? Do you see an improvement in framerates while playing in xfire over single card ?

Games must be coded to take advantage of xfire or sli setups, Some games dont and will perform worse in xfire as a result. ( less fps)

If your seeing a major improvement in fps, but it still feels laggy when using xfire you may have a problem called microstutter.

In short, be sure your gpu drivers are up to date. and the game you are running supports xfire.
