Preferred Solution: BSOD - Crash on launch and Crash while running

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey My month and half old Acer V started to give BSOD's did some sort of recovery and started working again for a couple of hours if not trying to recovery total crash and BSOD crash/failure and windows access any Windows files If tried to look up error logs etc it gave different versions of the BSOF So I tried to run Recovery getting it back to factory settings and that's when Windows crashed completely I followed Acer customer support advice ordered recovery discs couldn't create BSOD and total windows crash and recovery crash/failure one because Windows crashed when trying it I got the recovery discs ran the recovery which ended up giving me failure because of quot missing image-something quot Another call to Acer and they told to run different recovery version from the puter That recovery end to a failure again After several restarts and what not windows started up again being slower than usual I'm now having constant problems losing internet connection I've had couple minidumbs and several issues with windows updater and such and these after machine should be back in the factory settings Anyhow here's the last log if anyone could take a look on it before I throw this machine to the wall

A:BSOD and total windows crash and recovery crash/failure

For starters:

At work we start all repairs with a set of diagnostics. Often they find problems that weren't even expected. It's a waste of time to try to fix software on a system that has hardware problems.
Please try these free diagnostics for starters: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

In particular, start with the hard drive diagnostics as I suspect that is the problem.

Although there's only 2 memory dumps (it usually takes 4 or 5 to conclude if it's a hardware error or not) - the repeated failure of factory installs makes a hardware failure the most likely problem here. Please run the diagnostics that I suggested above and let us know the results.

There are a list of drivers that need updating (because the recovery media was made a while ago). Don't worry about them until you've finished the hardware diagnostics. If all the diagnostics pass, then update the drivers.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi. I've recently been trying to play Metal Gear Solid 5 but every time I boot it up my PC either crashes as soon as the splash screens are done or after a few minutes. It's been crashing while playing other games as well but it's been much rarer. It's not a BSOD crash and it doesn't produce any crash dumps so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with either the PSU, the motherboard or one of the graphics cards. Any help with finding the cause of this would be appreciated.

The PSU model is fd-psu-newt2-800, the graphics cards are both Nvidia GTX760s and the motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77

Hey guys,

I need some help. I am the same person who posted a thread about needing drivers for Windows 7 after dual booting it with my preinstalled copy of Windows 8. So, I was on Windows 7 today, and my screen randomly blinked on and off for 5 seconds, and then came up with a message saying my system display driver crashed but had recovered. Then, about a minute later, it crashed again and came up with a BSOD saying that the display driver had crashed but failed to recover. I do not have the error code from it, as I only saw this screen once, and forgot to copy down the codde because I got freaked out But anyways, I have copied the system report to this post from the Seven Forums System Tool. I am currently running in safe mode on my Windows 7.

Thanks for help in advance!

A:System Crash: Dual Boot running Windows 7 and 8: BSOD

There are enough signs here that I have to wonder about this installation. Should this be a pirated copy of Windows, please be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.

Please provide the MGADiag report according to these instructions (from this post: Product Key Number - Uninstall and Deactivate in Windows - Page 3 - Windows 7 Help Forums ):

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

A:IE8 crash instantly after launch

Hi -

Is there any error message when it crashes? Or does it -
- the background fades to white
- small spinning blue circle
- "Not Responding..." - top-right of screen

Do you have an Internet Security product installed, e.g., NIS, KIS, N360, McAfee, etc...?

Check Problem Reports for additional details -
START | type View all | select View all problem reports

Check the entries under Internet Explorer - 2x-click on a line item for additional information on each crash.

A:Solved: WoW Crash at Launch (#132 Error)

Lol, it's funny how nobody even attempted to help me with this one. Well, I solved it.. and since nobody apparently cares... I won't say how. If anyone is currently experiencing this error and is browsing the Interwebz looking for answers, you can thank TechSupportGuy for having no knowledge on anything "tech" whatsoever.
Or you can message me on Steam.

I've looked around for other people who have had this issue, but haven't found anything. Sorry if it's already been dealt with here...

I'm on a Gateway M-1625 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium, by the way.

So yeah, when I right click any of the icons on my quick launch toolbar (e.g. to delete them), explorer.exe crashes without me being able to see the drop-down menu at all. This also happens when I right click any of the icons in the start menu (the first menu I see; not if I go into "All Programs"; those I can right click).

Any idea what could be causing this? I found one page doing a google search but it didn't really help me all that much:

http://svn.haxx.se/tsvn/archive-2004-07/0310.shtml

...because I don't think I have anything called TortoiseSVN on my computer.

Help please?

A:Right clicking on quick launch causes explorer.exe to crash.

Nevermind--solved!

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

I used this program to find all my non-Microsoft context menu shell extensions, and discovered that it was a shell extension called "SecuROM context menu for Explorer" that was the culprit. Simply disabled it--problem solved .

Needed to launch an elevated command prompt and now explorer crashes when I do so What I've already done Run sfc scdannow both from inside Win and from DVD Finds files it can't fix Appear to be due to login screen customization and Vista basic custom there But -- these have been true from when I first installed Win and have only run into this problem recently Read prompt trying to command launch elevated Crash the thread on diagnosing Explorer crashes applied the registry fix generated the dump file So I can upload that here Do regular full-partition images so went back three Crash trying to launch elevated command prompt months restoring one at time -- problem remains with the oldest restore I have -- December of last year Restored latest backup ran startup repair from DVD three times Rebooted Win tried elevated command prompt -- still crashes Explorer So apart from a complete clean-install which I am dreading because of all the pain I went through scrounging drivers for this XP-era Tablet PC is there anything else I can do

A:Crash trying to launch elevated command prompt

1 - start scrounging drivers "just in case". Save them to a flash drive or DVD

2 - upload the dump file. If it's too big to upload, upload it to a free file-hosting service and post the link here.

3 - check the CBS.log file (C:\Windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log) for the missing/corrupt files. Here's a KB article on it for Vista (Win7 should be similar): How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista

4 - scan for viruses, scan for rootkits

5 - try a Repair Install of Win7: Repair Install

Hello After having hopefully solved the idle-to-sleep issues of my clean installed Windows OS having installed and configured all the software I need I felt almost ready and relieved to finally create a backup image of my system However I have just realised that most built-in Metro Apps have stopped working In detail Weather Maps Mail Skype Calendar Contact Stocks and probably few more do not work i e when I click-open them there is the short animation in which the App symbol is magnified to full screen and then immediately afterwards I am sent back to the Metro interface However the apps do still appear in the Metro Apps' taskbar on the left side of the screen Re-Opening them from there leads gives the same result Very few apps work like Skydrive Photos and Store I can confirm that I neither had this issue with Windows nor right after my Windows installation which is when I checked Metro apps for the last time I have no idea what settings in the meantime have caused this disruption I can at 8.1: launch Metro Apps crash immediately Windows Most only say that I have not done any real work with the computer since the fresh install but merely installed and configured everything to my specifications Just for the sake of ruling out some possible causes I can confirm that I have no third-party Windows 8.1: Most Metro Apps crash immediately at launch firewall or antivirus programs installed that I have no nvidia or Windows 8.1: Most Metro Apps crash immediately at launch ATI AMD graphics card just the Intel HD onboard graphics and that I use the most recent drivers everywhere I have already read Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter - Fix Apps in Windows and gone through most of the points except the refresh install which I would like to avoid since this is a newly installed computer The following errors are reported in the application event log of Windows Event id quot Fehler beim Laden der Anwendungseinstellungen f r Paket quot Microsoft BingMaps wekyb d bbwe quot Fehlercode quot This is the original German message translated to english this means quot Error loading applications settings for package quot quot Error code quot I get this type of error for every app I launch and a few more errors like Event id quot Bei der Aktivierung der App Microsoft BingMaps wekyb d bbwe AppexMaps ist folgender Fehler aufgetreten Der Remoteprozeduraufruf ist fehlgeschlagen Weitere Informationen finden Sie im Protokoll Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI Betriebsbereit quot Translated The following error occurred while activating the app quot quot The remote procedure call failed You can find more information in the protocoll log quot Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI Idle quot quot Event id quot Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung Map exe Version Zeitstempel x f Name des fehlerhaften Moduls Windows UI Xaml dll Version Zeitstempel x d b Ausnahmecode xc b Fehleroffset x a f a ID des fehlerhaften Prozesses x bc Startzeit der fehlerhaften Anwendung x cecd c b cc Pfad der fehlerhaften Anwendung C Program Files WindowsApps Microsoft BingMaps x wekyb d bbwe Map exe Pfad des fehlerhaften Moduls C Windows System Windows UI Xaml dll Berichtskennung b a - f- e - b-bc ff f c Vollst ndiger Name des fehlerhaften Pakets Microsoft BingMaps x wekyb d bbwe Anwendungs-ID die relativ zum fehlerhaften Paket ist AppexMaps quot I have not had much luck googling these errors probably because with the of Windows many new errors were introduced Thanks for any help Steve

A:Windows 8.1: Most Metro Apps crash immediately at launch

I have achieved SOME progress by establishing which apps are broken one by one and then uninstalling and reinstalling them.

I have got most apps to work at first but often they break again (crash at launch as before) or Windows reports that they need to be repaired (have had this with the Weather app a number of times). Another quirk is that often Windows store gave an error (0x80073cf9) while trying to install some apps (e.g. Health & Fitness). After retrying many times, I've been able to install all apps, but it does not feel to be a very stable state as things can break again unexpectedly.

To me, it all looks like new bugs introduced with Windows 8.1.

I suspected that the fact that I use one Microsoft Live/Skydrive account as my main account on two computers could be causing issues, although both have been updated to 8.1. Therefore, I disabled app syncing. However, this is nothing more than a workaround to a very basic feature that should be working fine. To give an example, think of the Apple app store - never encountered issues of this magnitude, neither on iOS nor Mac OS devices.

I understand I could try replacing Kernelbase.dll, identified as the faulting module, with a new copy. But I don't think the file is corrupt. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. And I haven't found any other applications to have problems.

I'm just not sure what might have changed since I last started the application in question. Unfortunately, I have restore points disabled on my machine, so I cannot simply go back in time.

What can I do to resolve this problem? Thanks!

Hi

These 4 apps - Calendar, SkyDrive, Photos and Messaging crash on launching them almost always. I saw the Applications log and it redirected me to the TWinUI/Operational Log. In that log, it says Access Denied. What do I do? Please give me a solution which doesn't need me to refresh. Thanks

This problem has started around 1 week back.

A:Calendar, SkyDrive, Photos, Messaging crash on launch

Problem is antivirus. If you use kaspersky, these apps are in untrusted folder, just move them to trusted folder in application control

I have a radeon 9600 with windows xp home edition.

Whenever i am playing a game such as world of warcraft it crashes but when i am playing warcraft 3 which is a similar game it does not crash...

the nature of the crash is random sometimes it has a vpu recovery window poping up sometimes in completely crashes and freezes where i have to hold down the power button to reset thou even when the computer resets windows will not load up which leads me to believe it is a temperature issue if anyone can post explaining how to fix such issues step-by-step...

ive noticed this crash also happening with half life 2 so it is not a problem with an individual game. I originally thought this was a driver issue so i tried downloading new drivers and older ones.

I built a new PC a while back, specs are:
Intel QX9650
Asus Striker II Formula 780i Motherboard
2x 512Mb Geforce 8800GT in SLI (Asus EN8800GT)
4Gb Corsair 800mhz ram.
Asus SupremeFX II Audio card (Came with the motherboard)
1000Watt power supply
250Gb hard drive for my OS, 500Gb for data storage.
Vista Ultimate x86

My problem is that when I'm watching some video, every so often the video will get colourful lines through it and a square block will show around my cursor. Photograph of screen: link

If I move the cursor around after it "glitches", within a few seconds the machine locks up and my monitor goes blank. All I can do is restart the machine.

Anyone know what is wrong? I have the latest driver for the graphics cards.

I have a friend who gets the same thing in vista, but says he hasn't had it happen at all in XP.

A:Crash during video playback, pixels show around cursor prior to system crash

It sounds like artifacting which occurs when a video card is dying. I speak from personal experience. Or it could be a heat issue. What is your temperature like? How is your airflow? Check to see if your fans are working.

Hi Indyspark and welcome to TSF,

None of the processes sticks out, and are perfectly fine where they are.

Could you access the event log and see if there are any faults around the time that this issue appears? If so, what faults do you receive?

You could try running a "sfc /scannow" and a system repair aswell as restoring to a previously known working restore point, just as general "fixes".

im not sure is this the right place to post, please help me.my laptop had a video problem before, although it's now fixed, but there's some problem with the AC adaptor. when the AC adaptor is plugged in, my laptop crash immediately. at first i thought this would be a hardware problem or the ac adaptor itself, but then i found that even when the ac adaptor is plugged in, if it's in safe mode or should i say if it's not in WINDOW mode, it won't crash. i check ad test in safe mode, but still dont know why, my conclusion for now is something (software, programme) that are activate when in window mode are preventing/rejecting the ac adaptor.
and its quite obvious, but without the ac adaptor, i can run window mode normally. please if anyone knw what happen to my laptop please help.

A:Browsers crash and stop working until reboot, random programs crash... trojan warning

You know what? Nevermind. It turns out a RAM chip I recently installed had gone bad.

I downloaded memtest86 and some other RAM checking program and burned the ISO files to a CD and booted my computer from them, and it failed a few tests.

I swapped out the RAM and I haven't had a problem since.

So feel free to lock this thread :D

CnsMin has an uninstaller which removes most components, but leaves the machine with no network or Internet connection. I suggest you post your log in the Hijackthis forum.

It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy. Please be patient as they are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have not been replied as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, a team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

Hello Is there I can find out a list of the programs that were open on my taskbar can Post-crash/reboot, open how had the I find out files I what before crash? before my computer crashed I tend to have lots of documents open esp text files I'm reading - i e not editing - for research purposes and when my computer crashes or is forced to reboot the only way I can guess which files I had previously open is by doing a Windows file search for files accessed in the past few days This doesn't always help - esp as I hibernate Post-crash/reboot, how can I find out what files I had open before the crash? my computer lots and files may be open and unchanged for several day Sometimes when I'm about to crash I quickly take a screen-dump of my taskbar or the task manager list of programs so I know which windows files I had open but isn't there a log of some sort somewhere containing information on which files were active at a particular time just before a restart or system crash I don't mean the program that caused the crash I know I can find out about the crashing program from event viewer I wanna know about all the OTHER program names I had open at the time And I don't just want to know they were called 'notepad exe' 'winword exe' - I want to know the actual files opened up at the time of the crash In short I want the information I can get if I photograph the tabs on my taskbar just before a crash We're talking about already-saved notepad files photographs etc that are open on my screen just before a restart Any tips on whether Windows has this information somewhere Are there any logs that may contain this information Thanks a lot for your help D

A:Post-crash/reboot, how can I find out what files I had open before the crash?

Hi esinohm and welcome to TSF !

Several MRU (most recently used) lists are stored in the registry, but you won't find a single list with all the programs that were opened at a given time.

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/RegistryMRU.htm

This article discloses the location of the MRU lists for office documents :
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;826208

Latest opened and saved files will also appear in the recent document menu in the start menu. There's a setting that allows you to see recently opened documents in the start menu properties : right-click the start menu => properties => customize next to start menu => advanced.

Have you tried investigating the reasons of the crashes ? Could be a single hardware problem. I can usually leave my computer on for a whole week without any crashes.

What are your system specs ?

My laptop, Packard Bell Easynote TM81, has been crashing and restarting by itself, and when it does, the ENTIRE system will not respond. So I try to format the entire thing, and after a few days, when I have gotten used to it, it comes up with a screen for 1 second, and all I could read was "system memory dump" and "CPU memory dump". So during this month, I have had to format the entire thing OVER AND OVER. I can't reinstall the system, because I am using a laptop, which comes with no Windows 7 CD. Please help!

A:Laptop crash no response memory dump crash

It honestly sounds like a heat related issue to me, if you could follow the instructions here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

one of the bsod readers here could help you.
Or perhaps even myself if I ever get the time to reinstall the debugging software on my system.

A few weeks back PC crashed out of no where and BSOD appeared.. didnt take much notice until it says OS not found when restarting.. but after a few tries it went back to normal for a few days then these few days it started to startup very slowly and may sometimes crash after typing in the password at the welcome screen.
sometimes it would also randonly crash and when restarted OS not found will appear.

A:Startup very slow, crash at welcome and crash randomlythen OS not found

Hi tank3006.

The latest BSOD in the uploaded zip is of 31/01/14, so it is not supposed to reflect the exact situation of today.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the system configuration window, with the "general" tab selected.
Click the "startup" tab. Click "Disable all" > Check the touchpad driver SynTPEnh back > Apply > OK.
Click on "services" tab. Check the "Hide all Microsoft Services"; Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK
Then try to boot again normally. Is it BSOD still?

Hi, paulpsb Lets give it a try. Attempt a System Restore to restore the computer to an earlier date throughout the Recovery Environment in your CD. If that does not resolve the issue, follow these steps. You will need a USB drive. (Despite the OS is Vista, it will also be nice to know if you have a Windows XP installation CD, as we can have other options to try.)Download GETxPUD.exe to the desktop of your clean computerRun GETxPUD.exeA new folder will appear on the desktop.Open the GETxPUD folder and click on the get&burn.batThe program will download xpud_0.9.2.iso, and upon finished will open BurnCDCC ready to burn the image.Click on Start and follow the prompts to burn the image to a CD.Next download driver.sh to your USB driveRemove the USB & CD and insert it in the sick computerBoot the Sick computer with the CD you just burnedThe computer must be set to boot from the CDGently tap F12 and choose to boot from the CDFollow the promptsA Welcome to xPUD screen will appearPress FileExpand mntsda1,2...usually corresponds to your HDDsdb1 is likely your USBClick on the folder that represents your USB drive (sdb1 ?)Confirm that you see driver.sh that you downloaded therePress Tool at the topChoose Open TerminalType bash driver.shPress EnterAfter it has finished a report will be located on your USB drive named report.txtRemove the USB drive and insert it back in your working computer and navigate to report.txt

Please note - all text entries are case sensitiveCopy and paste the report.txt for my review

You need to submit a new log with HijackThis 2.0.2 because HijackThis 1.99.1 is very outdated and isn't displaying all the log entries.

Make sure to install it in its default location: Crogram Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.

Hi all,

Had a problem lately where my graphic card driver stopped responding and crashed. Comp restart, run game, crash again. Bad cycle. To be precise this happened after i first initiated 'Dark Souls 2' - I haven't got to play after then.

I manage to find minidump file and have attached it here. For some reason i cant copy or even delete the latest dump file so I have posted the older file here.

Here are my system information:

Processor: Intel i5 3470
Board: Asrock B75-Pro3-M
Graphic card: Leadtek GTX 660ti
Graphic card Driver: Nvidia 335.23

The system was 1 year old without any problem, and I did not overclock the system.

Appreciate your help folks!

A:Crash when running games

Your graphics driver is out of date.
Update it on the What's New | GeForce website.
These instructions should help:

NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems

However this dump files dates back to the 6th of may and you state on your original post that the driver version is 335.23, if so are you still getting crashes after a driver update?

Stress test your graphics card with Furmark

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

Run Disk Check on your Hard Drive for file system errors and bad sectors on it.

 Hard Drive Diagnostics
Double click and open my computer.
Right click on desired drive and hit properties.
Click on tools tab and Check now.

Read complete instructions on the tutorial: Disk Check

Other Tests:

Upload a screenshot of your hard disk using Crystal Disk Info.
Make a hard drive test from the hard drive manufacturers website.
Test your Hard Drive with SeaTools.

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.RAM - Test with Memtest86+

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.

   Information
Errors are sometimes found after 8 passes.

   Tip
Memtest should be done overnight.

Hello,

I have picked up some nast viruses from somewhere online. Initially I had the "Your PC is infected wallpaper" and internet security 2010 coming up every 5 secondes. I was able to get rid of those with malware bytes, eset nod32, panda antivirus, ad-aware. However I think I still have virus symptoms. Some .exe programs won't run (I think they are .net framework apps) also my browsers crash every 5 seconds. I am attaching my HJT log. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

After I opened Garena Plus and started Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne it crashed

A:First Time Crash while running Warcraft III

Back a couple of years ago there was a BSOD problem with Garena. Haven't seen it recently - but let's see what the dumps turn up.

Please provide this extra info:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

The dump blames safedrv.sys - a component of the Garena program, and it dates from 2010.
I'd suggest immediately updating it to the latest, Win8 compatible version.

Post back with any further memory dumps after you've updated Garena.

Good luck!

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

GMER is a very deep scanner and under some circumstances BSOD may happen.
Why exactly are you running GMER?

Maybe this should be moved because it has more to do with my GPU. My main GPU appears in Device Manager, but when I play games they don't use/find my main GPU.
-Original Post-
Hey, my computer got stuck going into sleep mode. I seem to have lost a podcast file, but, otherwise, things seems to be okay. My main problem is now my games are running slower (same settings). I think, the games are using the MoBo's integrated graphics, but I don't know how to check if that's the case. I checked both Display Adapters and Windows tells me they are working properly.
EDIT: I am on the setup menu of a game and my GPU isn't an option. Seems like a problem.

Install drivers for your RAID controller - perfmon lists them as not being installed. Devices can cause problems even without drivers being installed.

There is a problem reported with a PS2 keyboard. If using a USB keyboard you can safely ignore this error.

There are no Windows Updates installed since Service Pack 1. Most systems have around 55 installed. Please visit Windows Update and get all available updates.

Please check with the system manufacturer for a firmware update for the processor/mobo:

Hi, new to this site an am looking for solutions. I am not an expert on hardware and software nor am I a neophyte. Somewhere in between and I need help!

The story is:

Win 8 crashed. Got it going again after spending a lot of time doing the Recovery Manager Backup and Restore. Now I have a folder on my desktop w/three files. My super smart computer tells me that I don't have the Administrative rights to look at those three files to open them and retrieve the docs I need. This is my personal desktop in my house on my home network. How do I fix this and retrieve the specific files I need?

Thanks in advance to all.

Hi

What you need to do is take ownership of the folders in question and you will have access to them. You can add "Take Ownership" to the right click context menu and use that to quickly make yourself as the owner of any file/folder in the system.

A:PC crash while watching videos or running flash app

Hello and thank you very much for filling your system specs, most appreciated!

I'm not sure if you have configured your dumps correctly, make sure these settings are intact with yours.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Press Start, in the Search Box type: "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes), press Enter.
* Select the Advanced tab, click on Startup and Recovery Settings.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information headline select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box.
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK till you're out of the dialogue.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

A:Pc Crash While running ANY Game Or Editing Program

If the pixels are not permanent it is most likely your video card (permanent is dead pixels in your monitor), the crashing could happen because the graphics card may not be seated properly. Also 40?C - 60?C for a stock cooling fan is okay, but if it gets any higher you might want to think about purchasing an aftermarket CPU cooler + case fans. With this said id suggest completely unplugging your computer (to be safe), take the side panel off and take out the GPU (video card) and RAM then re-seat them and make sure they're in good. Maybe clean your case fans too, that can help with the cooling.

You might also have some kind of virus but if you have an antivirus program you probably don't. Maybe check for registery errors + clean your computer with CCleaner, defragment your hard disk, then run a scan to make sure. Hope you get this problem fixed soon!

Go to Control Panel and Add or Remove Programs and uninstall ALL JAVA related items in the list.

Next go here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
And download the full Windows Offline Installation. Then install it and verify the installation at that same site.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums. Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again. Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Please post the contents of log.txt. Thank you for your patience. Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem. If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped. Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so. While we are working on your HijackThis log, please: Reply to this thread; do not start another! Do not make any changes on your computer during the cleaning process or download/add programs on your computer unless instructed to do so. Do not run any other tool until instructed to do so! Let me know if any of the links do not work or if any of the tools do not work. Tell me about problems or symptoms that occur during the fix. Do not run any other programs or open any other windows while doing a fix. Ask any questions that you have regarding the fix(es), the infection(s), the performance of your computer, etc.Thanks.

This started happening I think maybe a week or ago Whenever I download exe files from any browsers I mainly use Chrome but I've also tried Firefox files .exe downloaded causes laptop freeze/crash Running to and Internet Explorer and open them it either a does absolutely nothing and I have to pull up the Task Manager to end the process b causes my entire laptop to freeze leaving me no choice but to force my laptop to Running downloaded .exe files causes laptop to freeze/crash shut down by hold down the power button which I feel isn't going to help my poor laptop Now every other exe file that I've downloaded installed before Running downloaded .exe files causes laptop to freeze/crash this can run fine on my laptop and I can also download images music and gaming-mod files from Chrome without issue It's just the exe files that I download that's causing me issues And the exe files I try to download I know work because I've download them in the past without issue example is CCleaner I tried to reinstall it recently and attempting to do so caused my laptop to crash Also I noticed that when I try to run exe files I can hear a faint but distinct ticking grinding it's hard to describe from my laptop that sounds like quot Tch tchtchtch tch tch Tch tchtchtch tch tch quot I'm not sure what that means but I think I should bring that up I've had Norton run a full scan but it didn't find anything and don't suggest I try a different anti-virus tool because it won't work because of said issue and I tried doing a Disk Clean Up and Disk Defragment just to see if maybe it might help but it doesn't I even tried clearing up space on my laptop not that I used up a lot to begin with by uninstalling any video games that I haven't played for a long time

A:Running downloaded .exe files causes laptop to freeze/crash

Well Lillium in spite of you not wanting to run any AV scans I am going to suggest you run these - personally I think Norton is carp but that's your choice

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
Run these in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs

at very least those two because they are the basic scans you should have run already - if no fix then these

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
AdwCleaner Download
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If you are running Kaspersky as the main AV then it might need disabling it when trying ADW because it does not like it at times)

First off I apoloise if I fail to follow the posting guidelines or don't provide enough information as I don't frequent these kind of forums and am not familiar with many of the terms used here I'm also not a native english speaker Since I lack the vocabluary and repair running System with startup problems crash, knowledge to locate and explain my problem I'll try describing it the best I can I'm running Windows Home Premium on an ASUS UL J The computer was bought little over half a year ago and up till now I've never experienced any major problems Today the computer crashed while I was using Photoshop CS bit Google Chrome was the only other active program This has happened once before and that time I think it was from overheat This time I was taken to a bluescreen which did not happen the first time and while I tried to locate any information System crash, problems with running startup repair on the nature of the problem I couldn't find anything The first time I attempted to start the computer the screen remained black for a long time Then I got a brief glimpse of the blue Windows screen before it shut down The next time I was given a set of options of which quot startup repair quot was recomended I tried running System crash, problems with running startup repair it and it wanted to do a quot system image recovery quot but could not find a system image I did make a backup of the system on DVD when I first got the computer which I assume could be used However I assume I would then lose all my data Thus I would rather use quot system restore quot but when I try to run that I am told to restart the computer and select an operating system to restore something that either cannot be found or I'm doing it wrong I've tried searching through Windows help files and forum threads for similar problems but the information is either to basic to help me in this specific case or too advanced for me to understand This is also made harder my the fact I don't know what's wrong with my computer and because I have only basic knowledge about computers I'm afraid I'll further mess things up if I try fixing it without knowing what I'm doing I will be eternally grateful for any help with fixing this problem explaining it and what could possibly have caused it and if any further information is needed I'll try my best to provide it

A:System crash, problems with running startup repair

Can you get into Safe Mode for this computer? On startup you press F8 until you get the boot options screen. Once in Safe Mode find "System Restore" and look for the most recent Restore Point and try that.

Hi I downloaded and used adwcleaner, then restarted the computer. When the loaded I found there was no internet connection even though I had a cable connecting directly to the modem, further chrome, Firefox, and Internet explorer would simply disappear before loading.
Is there anything that can be done, or is this computer a lost cause?

All I did it's just run Malwarebytes' Antimalware and found a malware, quarantine it. After reboot, Chrome crashes in every restart. I've read thread teaching to change some semantic registry, but I didn't have it installed on my laptop. I believe some thing else in registry has been modified by "Malwarebytes' Antimalware" and causes this crash. Does anyone know how to resolve this EXCEPT running chrome without sandbox? Thanks.

Hey guys, so I'll try my best to describe this:

Whenever I run Java, or any program requiring it, including the control panel settings, it starts up for a second and crashes. I recorded a video of it below:

https://gyazo.com/ca9d149a2c4d38b0f4b0c335dc67a661

I have tried multiple versions, from JRE8 TO JRE7, installing only 32bit/64 and 32/ only 64bit versions, wiping every java-related file using JavaRA and reinstalling etc...

I get no crash logs in the java folders. I am getting pretty damn desperate and am considering wiping my system and having to back up everything, which will probably consume my weekend. Anyone have any clue as to what I can try?

While performing all steps to prepare online help from this form, following the steps on http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html is get stuck on step 8 because my WinXP crashes hard with a blue DOS screen while running GMER.

The essential message on the blue screen is:
- IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- *** STOP: 0x0000000A (0xBA823c00, 0x00000005, 0x00000001, 0x806EEA9a)

See attached photo.
I can use some help on this issue.

A:Blue screen crash while running GMER with message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Good evening. Just start a fresh thread and post what information you have - DDS logs and a brief description of the problem you had originally and mention the GMER issue - and somebody will be along as soon as to help.

Hi,

I have a new SATELLITE S50-B 15, i7-5500U, 8GB Ram, SSD etc. and iv been having a few issues with it.

for reasons unknown the CPU fan will start running at high speed even though the CPU temp has not reaching 35%.
it has also frozen about 10 times since I got it (April this year).

The only way to get it working again would me to hold the power button until off and start it back up.
Once started back up there is no mention of any problem in the event logs other than the forceful shutdown.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced any issues?

Thanks,

Chris

A:Satellite S50-B 15P - Fans running at high speed and system crash's

The only way to get it working again would me to hold the power button until off and start it back up.

Forcing shut down resets the fan activity and the performance?
Hmm? this sounds like there must be some kind of system issue? probably the some background processes locks the CPU and therefore the fan activity increases.

You could start the task manager and in the tab called ?Processes? you will find all background applications which would use the CPU.
Click on the CPU column to show all processes loading the CPU.

At the other hand you could also try to modify the ?cooling method? option which is available in Windows advanced power options.
Go to control panel → power options.
Here click on the power plan which is currently in use.
Then click on Advanced power options and navigate to Cooling method.
Here you can change this from active to passive.

Additionally you can decrease the max CPU state to 90%-05%

Hello and welcome vjc if you can get into safe mode then run these for starters
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

SFC is often best run for three scans

Edit: Plus this please System Info - See Your System Specs

i have recently rebuilt my comp due to endless re-installs of xp as it insisted on crashing all the time.

I have changed my mb and hardrives however i am still getting a problem where everything is running fine then suddenly it will shut down. I have checked the power source and that is fine as there is always a constant power led on my mb. I am running a recent version of mcafee anti and is has not found any probs previously or now.

This is realy getting very annouying now and im at the end of my teather with it. I ave done everything within my knowledge of fixing it but to no avail. I know the details im explaining are very vauge but i dont know what it is. When xp's error msg appears after it re-boots i follow the link to find out that it is a device driver error

Please if any of you have any ideas.

Hello. You have a backdoor infeciton.Backdoor ThreatIMPORTANT NOTE: Unfortunatly One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan. This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I ReinstallWe can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. Let me know what you decide to do. If you do want to continue you should do the following: We will probably need to move you to the HJT-Malware Removal forum afterwards.Run MBAM again and this time Update It and run a Full Scan.Next please run SmitfraudFix.Cleaning with SmitfraudFix (#2)You can find complete instructions for running SmitFraudFix in the link below:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/17258/how-to-remove-the-smitfraud-generic-zlob-quicknavigate-virtual-maid/SmitfraudFix Download LinkClose all open windows as a restart is required.Your computer needs to be in Safe Mode before we can run this tool.Double click the icon to run it.Select Option 2 by typing 2 and hitting Enter. The scan will progress. Answer Yes to any prompts you receive. This will include running disk cleanup and removing infected files. The tool will restart your computer.Upon reboot, a log file located at C:\rapport.txt will open. A:BSOD Plannetside 2 (steam) black screen> reboot> BSOD crash report

A stop 0x116 is a display/graphics related issue. Many a factors or components may cause such a BSOD.

First of all, it is the display driver. From your BSOD dumps, I have noticed that it crashed the same irrespective of the driver version over time. So overlooking this part right now. Will concentrate it on later again, if needed.

Next thing is overclocking, which sometimes lead display to crash. And, you are slightly overclocked.

Code:
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz"
MaxSpeed: 3400
CurrentSpeed: 3411
As the system is crashing, you should stop overclocking. Set all the hardware elements like CPU, GPU and RAM to default; and reset the BIOS to default too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Heat is another factor. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Also, dust accumulation causes heat, and dust accumulation depends on the age of the system. How old the system is? If possible, dismantle it and clean the inside carefully .... specially the air vents and fan grills, so that it can blow the hot air out easily.
Dont forget to apply thermal paste to the CPU when re-seating the system.

Insufficient power supply is also a great cause of display crash. Check if the CPU is supplying adequate power there or not.

It GPU itself may not perform upto the mark. Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

I am using (if the components matter to you)
AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE

STOP 0x0000001A: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel
STOP 0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Different stop codes, different things were blamed, this can be hardware issue...we don't know for sure yet
One stop code is 24, which is usually related to hard drive, also ntfs.sys is the hard drive controller driver, therefore I would suggest you to run these:
Disk Check
HD Diagnostic

Run system files check: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Scan whole computer for malware: Malwarebytes

As you can see the stop code I listed above, memory corruption is one of the potential cause. Memory corruption is also mentioned in those dmp.
Please download third party called memtest86, burn it to CD using ISO Recorder v3 , and let it run for at least 7 passes

The problem seems to be coming from your wireless usb device.
You'll need to look into updated drivers for it.
Qualcomm Atheros :: Home

It also wouldn't hurt to disable selective suspend when using usb connection devices.
To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings

I know you're going to hate me saying this, but please just reset both back to default (even if you swear by them both being stable), and let me know how it goes.

This crash seems to be happening more regularly. Sometimes whilst gaming, sometimes whilst in general use.

I would very grateful if someone who understands these things could possibly tell me what is wrong.

Thank you in anticipation of you kind assistance.

These were all caused by memory management/hardware. Your first step is to test your ram. second is to update the below drivers.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.
