Preferred Solution: HP Pavilon G series laptop blue screen.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

While waiting for a reply:

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests (located at this link: Hardware Diagnostics ). They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
Hard Drive Diagnostics (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks

The BSOD is a STOP 0x124.
This is most likely a hardware error - which includes:
- overclocking
- compatibility issues
- low-level driver problems
- malware

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems due to the sptd.sys driver.
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

I believe that you have Comodo installed on your system. Try uninstalling it to see if that helps.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Quote:

Please uninstall all ATI stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD
Then use the ATI uninstall manager to uninstall the Catalyst Control Center (CCC).

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem in perfmon /report, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs:
3RD PARTY DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please either update the older drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers.

Recommendations:Crash reports point to your Norton Internet Security software. I note that it is at least a year out of date. I would recommend removing the software with the Norton Removal Tool and replacing it with an up to date version or with Microsoft Security Essentials.

3rd Party Drivers: The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find links to the driver information and where to update the drivers in the section after the code box:

Hello - I would be extremely grateful if someone coudl hep me, please!! I haven't used this particular laptop for years, but I desperately need to get back on it to retrieve some files. The laptop seems to work fine, but when I've turned it on a black screen appears with Enter Password in blue - it doesn't look like the normal Windows page that I can remember. It looks as though it's in some sort of safe mode or something. I don't know what this password is. If I enter it incorrectly too many times it says System Disabled [05745] Can anyone please advise? Thanks so much

hi everyone im new to this site i have a big problem my fujitsu laptop screen doesnt come on eerything else does just that ive also tried puting in my monitor to vga outlet but nothing can anyone suggest anything please thanks

A:fujitsu c series laptop no screen

Hi. I assume that you are pressing the key sequence to switch to external monitor (usually ctrl+ "key with pic of monitor")

If you can see that everything else works and that there is the usual disk activity at boot up and you cant get an external monitor to work on it. then you need to take it to a specialist for diagnosis or return it to the shop or manufacturer if it is still under warranty.

seems like your graphics adapter has failed and as it is part of the laptops mainboard means you cant just remove it and test it, so you should have specialist diagnose it for you>

My laptop screen has been blinking, like there's a loose wire.  Tilting the screen/lid, or holding it firmly usually makes it stop for a few minutes.  Can anyone help?  If it's a loose wire where can I go to get it fixed, and how much would this cost?
Many Thanks

i have a gateway laptop model W350a T-Series. the problem is, when i turn it on.. nothing goes on to the screen.. the power works, fan works, but nothing goes out on the screen.. only black screen and no beep.. would appreciate much if you can help me out on how to fix it..

A:how to fix black screen gateway laptop model w350a t-series

If you never ever see anything whatsoever on the screen it is a hardware fault.Assuming the above and if the computer sounds as if it is booting up normally then it could be:The connectors at either end of the cable between the mother board and the screen, the cable, or even the screen itself. With the computer booted up try moving the lid back and forth slowly. If you suddenly get a glimpse of a picture then it is most likely cable failure at the hinge, or maybe connectors loose. If you see anything but black on the screen during bootup then this could be a different matter.EDIT: Tidied up wording.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

A:Looking to replace broken LCD screen on Compaq 700 series laptop. Any Tips?

Easy to do

Its not a complicated item to change.. You will need a T-9 Torx driver.. Pull the rubber pads off the Bezel.. (all 5 4 small corner and the one long center top) Then the rest is downhill.. If you need a screen I have one here..

Try system diagnostics to see if it finds any problem in the components:

Press F12 after power on
Select diagnostics.

You can also check Windows Event Viewer for any error message that was logged when the black screen crash happened.

If you can get it to work by tapping on the machine, then it doesn't sound like a software problem. It could be a bad system board or memory.

This is probably either a BIOS problem, or a video driver problem. It's also possible you have a hardware fault, but try updating your BIOS and video card drivers.

Just bought a Dell Inspiron 9300 running XP Media. Today I have gotten the blue "stop, memory dump" screen about a half a dozen times. Only the last two times did I write anything down. The next to last time "win32k.sys" appeared to be the guilty party, and I wrote down the several hex? addresses that appeared as well. The last time "psched.sys" was to blame.

I have no idea how to go about starting to troubleshoot this on a brand new system. Can anyone please help? I've already run all the normal spyware/maintenance stuff.

Thanks!

On my Dell laptop I received the "Blue Screen" message..the typical Stop. 0XC0000007E, etc. I went to Microsoft site for help and it seems that their solutions are related more to desktops than laptops for this error. ..ie..possibly a hard drive error ( replace it )...hello? this is a laptop. I know one can add an external one, but this laptop has been used very sparingly at home, cause I use my faster desktop. I see in this forum they recommend update drivers...when I click on the recommendation, it eventually wants to sell you software, which I don't want nor can afford. So how can one update a free video adapter for a laptop or a driver, that is over 2 years old or so? Has anyone here had this problem with that blue screen on a laptop and rectify it?

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

Hi, continuing on to my other thread, http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/914544-solved-laptop-wont-start-no.html#post7310810

I encountered another problem. I added some ram from my other Dell Inspiron 1525, and the video would come up perfectly fine, but when I get to the Windows 7 loading screen, it would take me to a blue screen and automatically restart. I am going to get new ram regardless, but is the blue screen coming up particularly because of the ram stick switch, or is it a different problem.

I have one irrelevant question, but does it matter about what kind of PC2-xxxx I get.
This is because,
http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=3566EA65A5CA7304
is faster than
http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=A342E268A5CA7304
and it is the same price.

I don't want any compatibility issues, but I would prefer the PC2-6400 over the PC2-5300

Thanks, appreciate the help.

that depends on your laptop, try looking up the specs on the manufacturers web site.

YES faulty ram can cause blue screen of death, also faulty HDD, faulty mobo, faulty CPU, faulty PCI devices and so on.

Hello,
Here are few suggestions.
1. Do a google seach with the error code in quotes. Try to find posts, discussions about that exact error.
2. Go to the Microsoft website and search
3. Go to the HP Website and search
4. Chat with Technical Support at least 3 or 4 times for 2 or 3 or 4 hrs until something gels.
5. See if you can buy or if HP will suggest a phone in tech support contract and or a hardware contract.

If you have a problem with an HP, ... go there first.

6. Do a google <maps> search for "computer service and your zip code
7. Call or email a few of the local hp computer service groups to see if they have info/suggestions/per chour charges.

Hope that helps.

I loaded a CD in my laptop (CD I have used many times before with no issues) and it did not autoload as normal.

I manually double clicked on the drive and now I have a blue screen covering my whole desktop.

When I reboot. I can see my desktop icons and then they are gone.(covered by blue on,off,on,off)

looking at TaskManager Processes(after reboot) I see the imapi.exe comming on and off as the icons appear and disappear on desktop eventually staying covered with blue.

I cannot right click on desktop.
I cannot do anything from desktop.

I can open applications via Task Manager [New Task] button. That is how I am opening my browser.

Browser does not seem slow at all, and I do not get any popups.

Thank you for your help

Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD drive, and then restart the computer. Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.Type: chkdsk /rIt's important to have a space before the "/".To exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer, type exit at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

How new is the laptop?

The bugchecks are all over the map, including 0x24 = possible HDD failure.

I would return it and get your money back or exchange it for another with NVIDIA.

Hey there.

So my laptop shows a blue screen within 30 mins from the moment it was turned on, no matter what I do with it. Its been doing this for about two weeks now, and I have no clue as to what would be causing this issue. I havent downloaded anything major recently, and I have not changed any configurations.

One thing I am suspecting of being the cause is my fan - Since about a year and a half ago, my laptop would sometimes beep when it turned on, and I had to manually give the fan a kick start for it to operate. Otherwise windows would shut down after a short while. Nowadays I dont get that at all, but instead I get this blue screen every 30 minutes. Could it have died completely and be causing this?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Recently my Toshiba Satellite Laptop, which is running Vista SP1 32bit, keeps giving me the blue screen of death at boot, with an error of "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". It keeps giving me this message and will not read my recovery disks nor a copy of Windows 7, giving an error message of "Cannot Boot from Disk - Code 5".

I need to wipe the hard drive and start again, but I can't open CMD to do so.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hello, I recently purchased this laptop (a couple of months ago) and I have to run it in safe mode now because get the blue screen after loggin in. So, after logging in, I would eventually be taken to the desktop then Windows shuts down on me and then it happened to me again before I switched to safemode. Attached, are the minidump files. Note: One recent change to the computer before this started happening is an install of Adobe Photoshop. This may be totally unrelated, but itn's the only change to the computer I can think of before noticing this issue.

Help would be very appreciated. I hope you have everything you need to help me.

Thanks!

A:Blue Screen - new eMachine Laptop

3 different errors with 3 different causes. Not much to go on.

The first error blames NETIO.sys - a component of Windows networking.
I'd suggest going to this website: eMachines Support: Drivers and Downloads
Download the LAN and WiFi drivers for your system (be sure to select the appropriate version of Win7 just above the listing of drivers)
Then install the drivers and monitor for further BSOD's.

If the BSOD's continue, then I'd have to suspect your Norton/Symantec products. To rule this out, please do the following:

Quote:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's

Please let us know how it works out for you.

We can't help you with any problems that arise from using illegal software.

If it's new, bring it back. Unless you have run some tools on it that caused the problem, they should replace it.

A friend wanted me to look at her laptop to find out what's causing the blue screens. As I was using it earlier a blue screen popped up, but it was too fast to read(is there any way to get a screenshot of the screen?). Right now the computer is in safe mode and i'm running a virus scan(i'm not trying to find a virus, just trying to see if it's heating or a memory problem). I think it might be a driver conflict or something. Any ideas or wisdom to try out and see if I can get this working in normal mode?

Thanks

Hi All, My laptop about 3 years old Toshiba has been crashing for last 7 days with blue screen death. The issue is when I bring it to a computer store, it works perfectly. I recenlty installed SKYPE and thought this might be the problem But, even after removing the siftware it still keeps crashing.
He reckons that it may be due to a mobile device in my home/area that causing the issue.
I even tried it few street away from where I live and still it keeps crashing.

hs this happened to anyone before? Any advice is much appareciated.

I bought this laptop 8/07. It's been back to Gateway and the Geek Squad 3
times and I've reinstalled the operating system myself once. The problem goes away and stays away for a month, maybe 2 if I'm lucky... only to return. The blue screen of death! Apparently there is something with Gateway that isn't compatable with Vista... surprise surprise! My warranty will expire soon and I'll be stuck with a $1200 piece of you know what... does anyone know anything about a problem with Gateways and Vista and how to remedy it? The problem will start by not shutting down all the way. Then it will turn itself on and off all night... sounds a bit spooky, I know. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Blue Screen on Gateway Laptop

Hi jekano. . .

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

Let's see if some answers can be provided for you prior to that warranty running out. The infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) usually leaves memory dump files behind. Please get them and send them to me and I will take a look at them to see if a probable cause can be determined.

The memory dump files should be located in c:\windows\minidump\ - the dump files will be named similar to "Mini041008-01.dmp". Get them all - regardless of the number.

Two other items that I would like are: (1) A Belarc Advisor report saved in "mht" format (Top right of Internet Explorer screen; Page; Saved as; save as mht), as a web page (html) or as a Word document. You can download Belarc HERE; (2) A DXDiag report - START | type dxdiag into the Start Search box | right-click on dxdiag.exe | select Run as Administrator | respond to User Access Control prompt. Then save this report as a text file. My results will then be posted here in this thread.

Please refer to my PM as to the location to send these files to.

Please be patient as I have other memory dumps to process. Should you have any questions regarding the aforementioned, please POST again or send me a PM.

Regards. . .

A:laptop keeps crashing with blue screen

Hi

Your crash dumps looks like the typical ones which can be initiated by downloading torrents. Please try the below steps.

1. Download and save the latest LAN driver.

Download and save Win8 and Win8.1 Auto Installation Program from the below link.

Realtek

2. Now uninstall "Realtek Ethernet" driver from "Control Panel--> Programs" and reboot the system. If not listed there, uninstall from "Device manager" with "Delete driver" option selected.

Like this :

3. Install the latest driver we downloaded earlier. Also check whether there is a driver update available for your wireless adapter in "Windows update". Right click on the "Ralink WiFi" adaper and select "Update driver". Let it to auto search and install any updates (make sure internet is connected through Ethernet port) .
If the blue screens continues, uninstall the torrent client as a test and report how the system works.

That is a problem with the Graphics card or the driver. Try updating the driver and see if that helps. If you do not know how to please give the full details of your Graphics card, make and model number.

I have a CF-50 Tough book with Windows XP. When I start the computer it will go to a blue screen after I logged on and have been on the computer for a couple minutes. Then the duration of time on the computer and going to a blue screen gets shorter. The computer then automatically starts back up and tries to reboot. The last time it did this the computer did a disk check and it came back as ok. I can hear the hard drive running on start up but not always after that.

I am not sure if this is a hard drive problem or a virus or some something else. It also started this after I used the computer at work and they have a free wifi in the building. Any help would would be appreciated.

Is it the motherboard? I had to sent my laptop (Asus G53JW) to the Asus repair centre and they had to replace the motherboard. About a month after this, I get this error often like I explained above. I was watching my acer laptop on youtube and all the sudden, the entire device freezes. I restarted it and all I got was a "windows boot manager" with an instruction to "insert your windows installation disc" what is that and how do I get one?

A:How do I fix the blue screen on my acer laptop?

Zombieboy44319,

Your system should come with a built in recovery partition that allows you to reload the operating system. Please view the article on our support site here for instructions: Use Acer eRecovery application to restore your system or create recovery media

Should that fail, you can purchase recovery media from our Acer Store website here:  eRecovery Media

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message disable the driver or check the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer press F8 select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

I had a toshiba satellite 305D, vista sp2, that had a cracked screen

I was following this guide: http://is.gd/Lg4DEf
I took the whole top cover off like this: http://is.gd/87duwB
only there were 3 cables attached to the lcd; the main video cable along with one white and one black wire.
I removed all 3 cables from the motherboard along with the top cover

I put everything back together and hooked up an external monitor
It booted fine, got past the *welcome* screen, then the blue screen hit

I ran it in safe mode(which worked out fine) and did a system restore that did not help me one bit

tl;dr: I have a cracked Toshiba L305D. I took off everything attached to the lcd and then hooked up a monitor. It booted but I got a blue screen after the welcome to vista screen.

please tell me if you need anymore details

Hello- have a 64bit Win7 Pro laptop that had a fresh Win7 install done for BSOD problems but we continue to have them. Hoping it is just a bad or out dated driver that was reinstalled that is causing the issue and not something hardware related. DM file log attached. I appreciate your help very much. Thanks.

A:64 bit laptop blue screen problem

Symantec is causing issues. Uninstall Symantec and install MS Security Essentials and MalwareBytes.

   Note
Make sure you uncheck the 'Enable Free Trial' box when installing.

Code:
Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

To see what you can update in the way of drivers. I also notice there are several bios updates available for that laptop. You may want to check to see if sleep mode problems are covered by any of those bios updates.

Updating drivers to absolute latest versions never hurts anything. ...unless it's nvidia or ati drivers... then it's kind of a coin toss...

I recently installed Daemon tools pro, and company of heroes. I tabbed out of the game and got my first blue screen of death that said "dumping physical memory" , so i restarted and it and everything still worked. I left it on over night, and when i woke up, the blue screen was there again. But this time, when i restarted, the computer wouldn't even begin to start. The screen stays blank, discs are not being read, only the power turns on, and i cant hear the hard drive. I'm inclined to think it shorted itself out and some connections are fried. Because regardless of software issues, i still think the screen should power on. Anybody able to help me? i have lots of work to do, and don't want to buy a new laptop

Thanks

A:Blue screen killed my laptop entirely

As a possible quick fix.

Remove all power (including battery on laptops)
Hold the ON button in for 30 sces (dispersing all internal voltage)
Put the power cord securely back in
Try turning on the computer again

A:HP laptop blue-screen issues

Hey robwats83, If the test fails the drive needs to be replaced. There are bad sectors on the drive which can cause a crash at any random moment.  The fact the PC is working now only tells you that a good amount of the sectors are in a decent condition but again, this could crash completely at any moment and you want to be prepared for this. It's kind of like a small paint chip on a car. It looks alright at first but it gets out of control fast. You've got your info backed up which is great, most people don't get that opportunity before a crash. Replacing the drive right now isn't really necessary but should be done ASAP, so you aren't in the middle of something when it finally dies. Hope this helps!
