I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

A:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

A:Thinkpad yoga 460 - Thinkpad Pen Pro not charging ...

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

I just bought a Thinkpad Yoga from Best Buy and upon opening, found that the pen pro included does not work. I'm on the most updated version of all the drivers, and the touch screen and multitouch with my hands still work. After taking an multimeter to measure the voltage of the pen, I found that the pen just wasn't charging. I'm a bit hesitant to check the voltage of the charging silo itself but my suspicion is that the pen is dead. Could this be a software problem? Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Should I return to pen and the laptop to bestbuy or just the pen? Or should this issue be brought to Lenovo instead?

A:Thinkpad Yoga 460 (Best Buy) - Thinkpad Pro Pen do...

I don't have a 460, but I do have a 260, which is a smaller, but VERY similar machine.  I had the same problem and I believe it is not the pen.  Before you do anything, you need to unplug the machine and disable the internal battery.  You do that by going into the BIOS and under the config tab, look under power.  There will be an option to disable the battery.  When this is selected, the machine will turn off.  The battery is re-enabled the next time you plug it in.  IF THE BATTERY IS NOT DISCONNECTED, YOU WILL CREATE A SHORT AND BLOW A IRREPLACEABLE FUSE ON THE MOTHERBOARD.  Remove the pen and look inside, where you will see 2 contacts.  My guess is that one or both got pushed back into the housing during manufacturing process.  You can take something fine and sharp like a needle and gently free them so they will pop back out.  Once I popped mine out, the pen charged very quickly and I never had another problem with it.

Hello all I was wondering if anyone knew if the pen that comes with the yoga 460 has a set of changeable tips that you can buy separately? I bought mine through best buy but I noticed that the tip of the pen screws off and allows the stylus tip to be removed. I can't seem to find anywhere that sells different tips for that pen tho. My hinges are quiet  and smooth, but they are tight and sturdy so that the screen is stable in any orientation.  I'm sorry, but without hearing or feeling yourem there is no way for me to say if yours are "normal", but it is common for a tight hinge to make a little noise when it begins a motion.

Hi

Maybe it can help your 3) point by installing "Lenovo Application Interface Driver for Windows 10".
Download it from here:

Check if after installing it, it will work with Lenovo Companion.

Hi there,I received my Thinkpad P40 Yoga roughly 6 months ago and have not had many issues, however, for the past few weeks I've noticed my fan at times pulses with a very annoying sound.  At times when my fan runs, it sounds like it is pulsing.  Sometimes it's constant, while other times it pulses and I'm not entirely sure why.  I looked around and read a few posts stating that sometimes a BIOS update is required.  I got software from the Lenovo website to automatically update it, but the sound remains.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Got Thinkpad Yoga 260 delivered today. Haven't turned it on yet and was checking it out. Lifting it up and slightly shaking produces rattling noice around the right hand side hinge. It's either hinge itself making that sound or inside the laptop around top right corner. Any ideas on what that might be and how to possibly fix it? Should I just consider sending it back to get fixed instead? Thanks. Edit: I suspect it could actually be a right bottom corner of the LCD right over Yoga 260 imprint where the rattle is. There is nothing I can do to fix that. So much for a brand new laptop...

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. I don't know if the Bluetooth adapter is supposed to appear as a different adapter in the Device Manager or if only the Intel Dual-Band AC 7265 is supposed to show up (under the Advanced tab, Bluetooth is labeled as Active). Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

A:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Regards.

A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - The Fan keeps on turning on eve...

Hi ludovicfd Can you please post the full model number of you machine and which Windows version are you using?. For example my TP Yoga 14 is "20DM008UUS" and I didn't experienced those issues.  I'm guessing that your machine fan is blowing too much and making huge noise. In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards

Hello! Please, tell me - how/where I can buy AntiGlare coating for Thinkpad P40 Yoga WQHD like it's on X1Yoga WQHD???

A:Antiglare coating for Thinkpad P40 Yoga

Hello Gjel

For what I have looked arround, Lenovo does not offer a part number for an anti-glare screen protector/coating.
Maybe you can find a 14" or 15" (depending on your size) coating on Amazon or ebay, but I have no idea where to get those in Russia.

Hi, I just received my Yoga and it looks and feels great. However, there seems to be some sort of foil over the screen, that doesn't quite cover the screen edge to edge. It stops around maybe 0.5mm from the end of the glass panel. It also appears to give the display some sorty of milky grey collor when turned off. I was wondering if this is part of the digitizer, a protective or anti-glare foil, or something else entirely? I first thought it was the kind of screen protector you see on phones when you first buy them, but there's no latch to take it of, and it seems to be glued to the display rather well. Can anyone enlighten me?

Current ThinkPad: S1 YogaFormer ThinkPads: T21, X30, SL300, T60p

A:ThinkPad Yoga screen foil?

it is a layer of pre-applied screen protector. It's for anti-glare and protective purpose. It's possible to remove it but requires patience and effort as its strongly glued to the screen during production. From what I understood any fault related with the removal of the screen protector is not covered by the warranty.

Hi guys, just got the device 2 day ago and it looks like the thinkpad is a rubish machine, the screen is being marked by the pen that comes with the device, see image below, the marks are affecting the image, why is this device so poorly designed, would is make more sense to make the screen from glass over plastic? http://imgur.com/rYoL1fB A zoom'ed in photo http://imgur.com/wBBNENU New image to better explain my problem witht he device, http://imgur.com/hIlrbtA  rainbow color marks note: It does not look like a plastic screen protecter to me to i am going to say the deivce it faulty.

I cannot see any marks in the screenshot you posted, but if you are leaving marks, you may be pressing it too hard.    It need only glide softly over the screen to work properly.

I recently purchased the Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Best Buy version of the Yoga 460) and looking to upgrade the active pen for something a bit bigger than the included stylus. Lenovo's Pen Pro is listed as compatible but I was also wondering about the Wacom Bamboo Smart for 2-in-1s. The Bamboo doesn't show the Thinkpad Yoga 14 or 460 but the entire list of compatible devices is also included on the Lenovo Pen Pro list. This would make be believe it might work since they obviously share the same tech. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C https://us-store.wacom.com/Product/Bamboo-Smart-for-select-tablets-and-2in1-S01#

I have a ThinkPad Yoga with a dead mainboard. My ThinkPad is the i5-4200U / 4GB model, and the mainboard says 'LA-A341P' on it. I've found a replacement mainboard online, with part number 03X5234. However, I have also found what appears to be the next model up from my board - an i7-4600U / 8GB model, part number 04X5478. Will the better model work in my laptop? Or should I play it safe and just buy the weaker one?

A:ThinkPad Yoga S1 Mainboard Upgrade

Depends what you want... I actually want an i5 in my laptop because the i7 is overkill. In my case I also have a desktop PC with an i7 for doing video processing... So, I would prefer a less powerful chip to carry around with better battery life, less fan noise, etc. Rather than replace your system board with an i7, why not get yourself a whole new i7 gaming laptop for $200 from China if that is what you need?  If you have a read of the hardware maintenance manual there appears to be no difference between any of the system boards with regards to installation, so really it is your choice as to what tradeoff between portability and power you want to make. Usually the i7 boards are a bit more expensive... https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/s1_yoga_hmm_en_sp40a26742_01.pdf

So I got my Thinkpad p40 a few days ago and so far it's been great, with just one problem. The small stylus, the one that's housed in the body of the laptop doesn't work. I'm not sure if the pen itself is defective, or if the charging port is. The separate full-sized pen, the Thinkpad Pen Pro (4X80H34887) functions just fine. I've left the laptop plugged in overnight multiple nights but to no avail, and there doesn't seem to be any 'pen charging driver' in the driver list, just indicators. I've tried various programs, including Lenovo's low battery indicator and the laptop stylus simply doesn't work at all. The Pen Pro works in all the same situations. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

Hello, where can I find the charging indicator on the Thinkpad Yoga? When I'm charging the machine (turned off) I don't see any light or other charging indicator. Is this normal? ThanksRegardsRango

A:Thinkpad Yoga Charging Indicator

Hi Rango,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga doesn?t have a dedicated indicator for charging status.

The illuminated dots in the ThinkPad logo on the outer lid of your computer and on the palm rest show the system status of your computer:

? Blinks for three times: The computer is initially connected to the power.
? On: The computer is on (in normal mode).
? Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
? Blinks fast: The computer is entering sleep or hibernation mode.
? Blinks slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.

Hope this clarified your query!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hello, I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1. The keyboard sometimes becomes unresponsive, while the external keyboard still works fine. The keyboard revives after going to sleep mode. I have had this issue since the beginning (2 month ago). The fact that it still works fine with the external keyboard incriminates the driver. But all drivers are up to date. (I made all the updates I could find.) And in the device manager, the status reads « This device is working properly ». Anyone else having the same issue, ... and its solution? Thanks,JC

Hi Jc-createlli,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with keyboard not working when system is on sleep mode on your ThinkPad Yoga S1.

Go to device manager and under keyboard adapter uninstall all the adapter and restart the system and check.

Run ThinkVantage system update utility and update all the drivers and application from that.

Hope this helps.

Hello,I received my new ThinkPad X1 Yoga yesterday and the fan is constantly on and the bottom of the laptop is warm.  Being a brand new laptop I am surprised at the amount of noise and can't understand why it is constantly going?   So far I am very concerned and wondering if I should return it?  Anyone else have any similiar issues and if so, any way to fix it? Thank-you in advance, Christa

A:Thinkpad X1 Yoga Fan Constantly Running

make sure Turbo is not enabled on cpu since when thats enabled it will make cpu work around 100% - 120% so then fan is constantly on even at idle so yeah if you disable turbo it should make fan more silent.

Hello, Could somebody help me with the solution for charging my laptop X1 Yoga for USB docking station, please? Thnak you, Marius.

A:x1 yoga not charge from ThinkPad USB 3.0 Pro Dock

USB 3.0 docks are not capable of powering a computer (unless some non-standard functionality is used, and even then only a small amount of power can be supplied). The only standards compliant way to power a computer from a USB dock is a USB type C dock with power delivery capability connected to a USB type C port on a suitable laptop. The X1 Yoga does not have USB type C, so the only dock that can power the X1 Yoga is the OneLink+ Dock. You will need to connect a power adapter as well as the USB 3.0 dock if you wish to power the X1 Yoga.

A:Thinkpad p40 yoga System Crash

Download and run BlueScreenView:  http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html It's a free program which will allow you to see more details of the dump file created when your machine crashes in Windows.  On each dump file, scroll over and check under the "Caused by Driver" heading.  Is the file name there consistent?

Hi, I recently purchased X1 yoga 2016. At first, the screen rotation function worked perfectly. Recently, when I rotate my screen and enter tablet mode, the screen won't flip at all. I would like to work in the portrait mode but my screen didn't rotate at all. I make sure that the rotation lock is off. I appreciate all comments on this issue. Thank you so much.

As in the title, when I change to tablet mode, the touchpad accepts input and moves the mouse.I have installed every driver/software/update from Lenovo's site (after detecting my laptop, with a proper result) that has some tiny "touchpad" word in it.

Hello everyone nbsp I recently got a Yoga thinkpad notebook with win already installed I'm currently struggling with some issues the biggest one being a big loss of performance while the computer is plugged in and charging For example it cannot run a p video file without excessive lagging and freezing The overall interface is laggy in loss 460 of ... performance while ThinkPad Big Yoga - fact Task Monitor needs more than seconds to appear after ctrl shift esc chrome become unstable and slow very simple game boy emulator solwed down and such nbsp nbsp Along with this first issues I've smaller issues being nbsp -Some windows and pop-up windows suffer very low resolution they look quite blurry but just some of them -I had to desinstall Dolby Digital and its driver because they were interfering with the audio output saccades of high pitched noise each time a new tab was opened somewhere on the computer when it was turned off was fonctionning ok when turned on but god I hated the distortion it gave to my music nbsp As anyone experienced those issues Thank you all in advance nbsp Alex

I have the Thinkpad S1 Yoga with Windows 8.1 64-bit and have constantly been installing all updates. Currently my Fn key is not working. It doesn't matter whether I set the Fn and function keys to default as the F1-F12 buttons or the special functions, I cannot use the Fn key to toggle to the other option. I also can't use the Fn key in combination with the space bar to turn on the backlit keyboard. When I press the Esc + Fn button, nothing happens so the FnLk also doesn't work. My laptop is out of warranty too. Is there a known update that causes this problem? I installed the Hotkeys Features Integration for Windows 8.1 but it didn't help resolve the problem. Really hoping someone here could help me. Thanks in advance,.

Hi

Welcome to the forums. Can you please specify the full model number of you Thinkpad?

Before saying it is somekind of hardware problem. Can you check if by any chance do you have the Fn - Ctrl switch enabled? Maybe to togled the Fn and Ctrl buttons, there are some Thinkpad models that allows you to do that. .. just in case check if Ctrl+Spacebar turns on your keyboard.

You can check on the computer BIOS if you have that function to toogle Fn - Ctrl keys.  Also check on the BIOS (not in Windows) if you can turn the keyboard backlike with Fn+Space or Ctrl+Space.

It is just some trial error, but maybe it can work out.
Regards

Hi, I recently found out that Lenovo Companion offers a BIOS upgrade (v1.28, GQET48WW) for my ThinkPad Yoga.Unfortunately, I'm unable to install it.Downloading and installing it manually doesn't work either - the update utility states that the update is not compatible...? The update I'm talking about can be found here:http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-... Does anybody have any idea?  Thanks in advance, David

Seems like Lenovo for some probably sincerely Yoga P40 FHD Lenovo in Thinkpad Europe? only hillarious reasons has decided to put out the P to European markets only in FHD WITHOUT the option to upgrade to wqhd nbsp nbsp This decision to me seems to render the whole equipment useless and leaves me wonder to whom are they making their laptops for My first guess would have been customers but the more I think about it the less I believe it to be so nbsp nbsp If there's someone from Lenovo listening here's Lenovo Thinkpad P40 Yoga only FHD in Europe? something to consider nbsp Putting out P in US only in WQHD and not even giving that as an option to European markets is just simply silly Also as you produce another viable option for anyone who's looking for an alternative for Surface Book which is the Yoga I'll give you a tip on that too you probably shouldn't max it's ram to gb but let it go w-i-l-d on the full nbsp nbsp You almost had it right Close But no Not this time nbsp Solved Go to Solution

A:Lenovo Thinkpad P40 Yoga only FHD in Europe?

Yes that is also one of the decisions I just do NOT understand! Just for completion if Lenovo decides to read it: Thinkpad is mostly business users - I get that. But the TP line is also advertised as "high end", especially the X1C. So why on earth does the whole TP line come with Intel 520 graphics ONLY (in Europe !?). At least for T and X series there should have been either an Intel CPU with IRIS or dedicated graphics aimed to provide high erformance for those who want it and are willing to pay for it.

Hey there YukiTsuki, I believe Windows often has Wacom drivers (The drivers used for this pen) preinstalled. Can you check you to see if you have "Wacom Pen" as a listen in your control panel (When in Large Icon view). Also are you 100% sure you have the 20DM000VUS model of the ThinkPad Yoga 14? Some Yoga 14 models do not have have pen support, if that is your correct model number then you should have it.
