No Sound HP Pavilion G6

Q: No Sound HP Pavilion G6

Hi,I used IoBit Driver Installer to update my drivers and now my sound doesn't work. I checked other forums and tried:- soft & hard reboot- tried both Chrome and Firefox- both manually and used HP support to uninstall and reinstall the IDT driver - checked speakers in volume control was on default - undo the update but a warning sign saying a firewall or antivirus is blocking it. Tried to turn it off and didn't help After the 1st Hard Reboot it worked. I put it to sleep that night and then the next day it stopped again and hasn't worked since. None of the other solutions have worked. Can someone help please? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It doesn't have a black audio port...green, blue, orange...never heard of a black connector...unless you have to use headphone port?

Hi gottea, Please review the search results for your PC here. There are four chioces. I am linking you to the US model which may be incorrect. Here is an HP troubleshooting document. It may provide some additional tips for solving this problem. Have you tried installing IDT audio using HP's Recovery Manager? As you have done a factory restore this may not help. One thought would be if you are using an HDMI connection to your monitor. Windows may be setting the default audio to HDMI instead of IDT audio. You may have a hardware problem. This is a possibility based on the age of your PC (brand new!) and doing a factory recovery failed to correct the problem. Contact HP Support if the troubleshooting advice per the above document fails. Jaco ****I am not an HP employee**** Please give a" Kudos, Thumbs Up" if advice received is relevant or" Accept as Solution" to assist other forum users having a similar problem. HP Products:810-150se Desktop17t-j000 NotebookH8 1380t CTO Desktop560z Desktop

First, I am a novice user. I have a Hp Pavilion 9680C desktop (Win98SE).

The speakers are not working-in fact there is no sound at all coming from the computer (with or without speakers). The computer came with Polk audio speakers that mount on the side of the monitor. At first I thought they were not working but I removed them and plugged in a set of CREATIVE speakers but still no sound.

Any idea what the problem could be?

I checked for a conflict in the Device Manager and from everything I can tell there should be sound.

Look at the sticker on the case and advise what the product number is so we can determine the exact model number of your HP dv6 laptop.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Go into Control Panel - Device Manager, then click the + in Sound Video And Game Controllers, then advise what's listed in that heading.

If there's an Other Devices heading, advise what's listed there too.

Are there any entries with a question mark(?) or an exclamation mark(!) next to them?

Malakeh,

I have had this happen to me. I know of no software settings that can configure sound to come out of only the right or left side of a headphone, unless you are testing it for sound. Have you tried plugging in regular speakers? My guess is it would have the same result as the headphones. For me, the cause of this was the jack itself. You might have a rear and forward headphone port (green), so try them both to see if one or the other is working/not working. What I mean to say is, perhaps the jack itself is broken.

I have an HP pavilion zt100 laptop, Windows XP Professional SP2 (legit), about 4 years old, and the sound only works intermittently. Sometimes, I turn it on and the sound just doesn't work, everything seems to be fine, but no sound is coming out. I can play an audio file (I just use Windows Media Player) and adjust the volume, but nothing is coming out. The weird thing is that if I click the mute button, there's a little blip of sound, or sometimes it will play for a few seconds before the mute kicks in. Before, I would just restart the computer once or twice until the sound came back, but today I've restarted it like 15 times and still have nothing.

I'm attempting to connect a logitec X-530 surround sound system to this new PC. PC has a single audio output jack (green) and has an HDMI output jack. Logitc has green, black and orange plugs. The PC is advertised as supporting 5.1 surround but if I am correct then that means more than just a single green audio out plug is required. Is there a way to use HDMI through a converter or is there a way to use the single audio output through a converter to plug in the green, black and orange jacks that the logitech requires? Alternately, is there an audio card that I could install on this machine to provide the required output connections? Hello,

Ran a Windows 7 upgrade 32bit on the dv6324, everything works alright except for the sound. However, the weird thing is -- it appears as if the sound card drivers are installed and working properly. In fact, the volume bar is even green, and you can slide it around as if it was properly working -- just no sound comes out from the speakers. I have tried multiple drivers, including the vista 32 drivers (ran in compat mode) and supposed win7 drivers (found from the microsoft catalog) but nothing seems to work. Windows Update doesn't find anything. Anyone else have an issue similar to this? Or have any ideas as to what may fix it? HP hasn't posted Win7 drivers for this model, yet....shocker.

Hello guys, could you help me with my problem?

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 with Windows XP.
After some guy connected a pair of speakers into the microphone slot last night, the screen displayed some weird error message and since that the on-board speakers have been stuck in a loop, making some strange fart-like sound. They do it all the time the laptop is turned on, even before Windows boots. Attempts to change volume or to mute them do not work. System restore did not help either.

Is there anything I can do or do I have to turn it in for repairs?

I downloaded and installed windows 7 from the microsoft site, now my sound won't work. I tried updating it but nothing. I have the latest realtek drivers AC'97 audio and the high definition audio in the device manager but both have a yellow exclamation mark next to them. Then when I click on it, it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

Any help? School starts in a week and a half and i need audio for classes. What can I do?

Hello Tipsey and welcome to the SevenForums.
You should use Conexant drivers with your laptop. It is for 32-bit Windows. Latest version here. Try it first, come back if it doesn't work and we'll see what we can do.

Hi: See if this driver works for you...create a restore point first in case the driver doesn't work so you can do a system restore to a point before you installed the below driver. This package contains the driver that enables the IDTHigh-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that arerunning a supported operating system. File name: sp63555.exe

Hi guys I can't have sound in my headphone in the notebook anymore I don't know what to do more I spent the last whole two days reading about it and doing testings I've seen also that there are at least threats about it here in the forum I read them all but until now I couldn't get this fixed I think generally is the same problem with some slightly different details I'm using windows ultimate x and the basic information about my notebook is HP Pavilion dv em Here is the Headphone/HD No sound in audio/HP pavilion HP website page with the drivers Software amp Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv em Notebook PC - HP Customer Care United States - English So to start its not a problem in the headphone and I think neither with the hardware No sound in Headphone/HD audio/HP pavilion device since I have been using it normally a week ago And all the times I had to format the computer I never had this issue Now I have formated my notebook as usually and used the same drivers as usually And there is this problem I have even reformated the laptop again times just to be sure there was something wrong with the drivers The situation just after formating is - Playback device with Speakers Headphone as default and Realtek Digital output - The computer is mute When put the Speakers as default then the speakers work But in both case theres no sign when plugin or unplugin the headphone in neither of the inputs my laptop has holes left is mic center and right is headphone Then I have installed what I think is the most recent driver for Realtek R Available in the fabricant website No sound in Headphone/HD audio/HP pavilion Realtek And here page in No sound in Headphone/HD audio/HP pavilion french Drivers Realtek Pilote High Definition Audio R WHQL When I install the driver is even worse Because then the Headphone disapear from the playback device list And the speakers don't work anymore So from now I have uninstalled the Realtek drivers and seems that windows install as generic HD audio driver what leads to the first situation in the playback devices list speakers headphone and digital output I would think then that my hard has a problem but since nothing happened and the problem appeared after formating I think shouldnt be it Please guys I would really appreciate if you could help me with it Best regards Miro Soares

Hi HP! My girlfriend recently bought an HP Pavilion Model QCWB335 and she is experiencing issues with crackling sounds coming from the speakers. We have already tried rebooting the computer, lowering the volume down to 50 % and using headphones (same problem occurs). What should be done in order to solve this issue? Best Regards, Jakob and Katarina

A:Crackling sound from speakers on HP Pavilion

Hi @emmikatarina , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!   I understand that you are getting a crackling sounds coming from the speakers of your HP Pavilion Notebook PC. I will try my best to help you with this issue. Here are some instructions from SuperMario1 on how to resolve this. 1. Go into Control Panel, then Sound.2. Under the Playback tab, double click on Speakers to open Properties. 3. Go to Advanced tab. In the drop down, select the highest quality stereo output. 4. Click Apply and close all windows. If that didn't help, then here's round 2: 1. Instead of the Playback tab, go to the Recording tab. 2. Double click on Stereo Mix. 3. Go to Advanced tab, and select highest quality from the drop down. 4. Click Apply and close all windows. These steps should be enough to resolve the issue. If not, I would recommend a System Restore next, if the issue began recently. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore If the issue is not yet resolved, then please answer the following: 1. Does this issue only occur on online videos (to be certain, test something using Windows Media Player)? If so, is it only YouTube (to be certain, play a video from another site)? 2. Do any other devices in your house behave this way when you are streaming music? Specifically, if you have another device in the same physical location of the laptop, will it behave the same way? 3. If this computer to connected to the network via Ethernet, instead of wireless, does the same behavior occur? 4. If the computer is distanced between 6 and 8 feet from the router, does the same behavior occur? 5. Have you installed any new software or drivers on this computer, before the issue appeared? I hope this helps, please let me know how everything goes and any issues that you run into. Good luck and have a great day!

My HP Pavilion decided it doesn't like my external speakers anymore.
I thought that they were just old and didn't work anymore, and was about to throw them away, but luckily I didn't.
I plugged them into my wifes lap top, and they worked just fine. So it must have something to do w/my computer.
Gotta love HP's....hee hee. Any suggestions?

Hi..I have a HP Pavilion Dv 9000 series notebook with Windows Vista (Home Premium) installed.

My laptop is working fine except for no apparent reason, the sound has stopped working - internal as well as external speakers. It shows activities when I try to play any music or go to Control Panel->Sound and click on Test; however, there is no sound.

In Control->sound -> speakers (deafult) shows conexant high definition audio working. SPDIF Interface is not selected.

Can someone kindly help me on this and explain what is wrong and what I need to do to restore sound?

Go into SOUND option in control panel and check the playback devices. Even if you uninstall the driver, it will somtiems remain disbaled in that menu. If you don't even see a playback device in there, r-click on the background and tell it to "show hidden device". If the speakers are enabled, and the levels are turned up in that menu also, and it still doesn't work, then you probably have dead speakers.

HP dv6120us sound no got tired of it and did my own troubleshooting Here is what I found First make sure the sound is not muted or the volume is on low I recommend that you verify that the correct sound drivers are installed Go into the device manager and scroll down to the sound drivers and make sure you do not see any yellow If you do go to the HP web site and download the correct drivers for this laptop Second Take a pair of external speakers and attach them to the laptop Play some music or sound and to your surprise you will find that the laptop is putting out HP Pavilion dv6120us no sound problem. sound Thirdly having done the above you may now have to go to the next level to fix this issue Do the following Turn the laptop off and over with the bottom facing up Remove the battery and in there you will find five screws that you will need to remove and secure in a cup for reinstallation Three of the screws are easy to see and two are not so look closely The two that are hard to see are for the removal of the keyboard Now there is one other screw to remove and that screw is in the memory compartment It is not easy to see but if you look closely you will see an impression of a small keyboard Remove the screw and put it in the cup Now that all the screws are removed carefully HP Pavilion dv6120us no sound problem. turn the laptop over and pull up the screen to view the keyboard Pull up the top panel a little and then pull up the keyboard Be careful to not pull the panel too hard as there are three wires that you do not want to damage on the left side I found on the laptop I was fixing that the speaker ribbon was detached from its port I reinstalled it and put the laptop back together If your speakers still don t work then they are blown You will have to order the part from a computer parts supplier Well this is how I resolved this issue for me I hope this helps all those that could not get any help before Feel free to contact me with any questions on this nbsp

Hello there.

At first, sorry for my English. I'm polish

Ok. Yesterday I installed (again) Windows 8 ad after month since release, I have problems with sound :/
It crackles, skipps, freezes etc
As for me it's.. like a horror movie. Because I'm using my new laptop to gaming :/ watching movies and listening to the music.

On Windows 7 everything worked like a charm. I reinstalled all drivers, and everything was ok.
On Windows 8 upgrade or even clean install... it doesn't work :/
Maybe someone already solved this problem?

A:the Sound skipps and crackles- Hp Pavilion G6

Did you install the correct sound drivers? The HP sound driver is the preferred driver. This is first step in trying to resolve problem.

Windows usually will install the HD Audio Codec driver and that is not the correct driver.

Select ?Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer?.Select ?High Definition Audio Device? (Not IDT High Def... or Realtek High def? This is important) and click Next. I am using this monitor with a 2013 Dell XPS laptop running windows 10 - 64 bit. When I attach the  HP monitor via HMDI cable, I get a picture of my laptop screen on the monitor alright, but no sound. (not even laptop speaker sound when I select laptop speakers under Sound/devices) I checked Windows Sound/devices and it does show the monitor as a device under Sounds, but running a "test" on it gives no sound even though the green bar flashes. Does this monitor have speakers? Thanks

ok guys my computers motherboard and hard drive had to be replaced and so i was pretty much starting from scratch. Had everything installed by a 'techie' and so everything was fine. I found out my sound drivers were out of date and so i updated them.

Yesterday my sound players ie. Itunes, Windows Media Player suddenly stopped playing sound, games etc ie. World of Warcraft and website such as youtube still play sound though. When i try playing sound in WMP i get the error that my sound device isn't working, but my hardware manager says it is and WoW and websites say otherwise.

Any ideas?

Hi, I have a problem with my HP Pavilion dv2000, I upgraded it to Windows 10 64 bit and the sounds are gone. I tried several methods such as: *disabling all the enhancements *uninstalling audio driver conexant  smart audio high definition 221 and scan hardware changes, a pop up message says " a digitally signed drivers is required " *updating audio driver but it says i have the updated driver. I also tried to disable the signed drivers enforcement, it worked but when i restart my pc there it goes again, I tried disabling the signed drivers permanently by using the bcdedit /set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and bcdedit /set testsigning on but my pc still dont have a sound. Can someone help me?

Hello, I had the same problem with my wife's hp pavillion dv2000 laptop. After a few frustrating downloads of various hp sound driver upgrades I found the correct one to use. I downloade and installed the following sound driver - Conexant Universal device install/uninstall x64 applicationVer 7.46.0.2. I uninstalled the old driver and manually installed this new driver.  Vola - the sound worked like a champ. Hopefully you can have te same results as I had. Pat

A:No sound card HP Pavilion dv6700 (dv6810ew)

This can happen sometimes, first of all open device manager and right click your computer name and click refresh, this may show it, if it didnt you should go ahead with installing the driver and see if that finds it.

Have you rebooted it and checked again ?

Here is the link for the drivers, you will need to find more info from your laptop (normally found on the stick on the back) basicly select the right model from the list of about 10 i think, then find the sound card drivers, download and install.

I have an HP dv9700 Pavilion entertainment laptop. The sound crackles and hesitates. I've updated the conexant driver, tried using a different player (VLC) and even tried bumping up the priority for windows media player to high while it's playing. Nothing has helped. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

We discovered the problem. The wireless interferes with the sound. Only fix so far is to disable wireless. Since we listen to a LOT of music, this is workable for now. If anybody knows of a permanent fix, please let me know!

Dear friends,
I have a HP Pavilion DV2845se Verve Entertainment Notebook PC.  I have upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium.  I have flashed the BIOS (SP38358.exe) and updated the drivers.  I have been able to occasionally make the sound
work only for it to no longer work upon reboot.  I have attemepted to re-install sound drivers for Windows Vista.  I have attempted to re-install the NVIDIA drivers for NVIDIA nForce System Mgmt Controller as well as NVIDIA nForce PCI System Mgmt.
All to no avail.  The best I can determine is that this is a drive conflict issue.
Any assistance that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have recently ugraded to windows 10, everything (or I should say almost everything) works fine, except for the dreaded red x on my sound icon that says "No audio output device installed" when I hover the mouse over it, so I have no sound. And the other thing is my battery doesn't seem to be charging (the battery is new) it simply says "plugged in and charging" but it clearly is not because if I unplug the power cord, the computer goes off. I have looked around the internet for about a week now spending countless hours reading different forums from different websites, including this one, but I can't find any fixes that work. A:Sound problem with Skype only - HP Pavilion Laptop Windows ...

Hi, Sorry you're having problems. For Windows 7, try this:Log in to Skype. Click Tools near the top of the window, and select Options from the drop-down. Click Audio settings in the left pane. Under Speakers, you can:Use the Volume slider to adjust the volume.Click the down arrow in the drop-down to select the proper speakers.Test the speakers by clicking the little green arrow next to the Speakers drop-down.Click the Make a free test call link to make a test call.It may be a good idea to plug in a headset as a test to see if that works. You don't need a headset with a microphone; just use whatever headset you use to listen to your music on your iPod. The nice thing about using stereo headphones is that you can still speak through your computer's integrated microphone, but only you will hear your correspondent's responses, and there won't be as much feedback. Skype has a handy support document that might help you: I can't hear my friend... (Windows desktop) . And now for the awkward question: Is it possible that your friend has accidentally muted his/her microphone? Or is this happening with all of your calls?

Hi: You should be seeing an IDT HD audio device, so I would say you are missing the IDT audio driver, which controls the notebook speakers. The AMD HD audio device controls the HDMI audio out of the HDMI port. See if installing this IDT HD audio driver resolves the problem... ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55082.exe

Hello @doby101, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I read your post about the abnormal noise, and wanted to assist you! The issue may be related to the Hard Drive, or the fan.  You can try opening the tower, to see if there are any cables that may be interfering with the fan.  If everything looks good, then you can try performing the hardware tests, to check the system for failure.  You can use the following document to help: HP Desktop PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 10, 8) Please post back with the results.  Let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks!  Have a great weekend!

No amount of adjustment seem to improve this awful effect. I see that other users on this board are complaining of exactly the same problem so I've posted this so that hopefullt HP can see that its affecting a range of their devices - if they do read this ? Ive tried all the suggestions so far, e.g. Disabling beats, adjusting the "space", using the "Movie" mode, reinstalling drivers (both via Recovery tools and manually) etc...but as with all the other owners, the improvement is not 100% Please HP can you please try to get to the bottom of this.

My HP Pavilion 502n has on-board video. The computer turns on but will not display anything on the monitor- it'll just put the monitor to sleep. I tried 2 monitors and it has the same affect on both. I tried both monitors on another computer and they both work fine on it, which makes me think that the on-board video unit has failed.
how can I disable on-board video using "device manager" when I can' t see the display? I'd like to replace it with a video card- do I just install a sound card anyway and hope that it'll work?

Thanks.
