I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm interested in purchasing an HP ENVY 720-220 computer. The specs look great, but I'd love to upgrade the RAM. According to the product specifications, it is upgradable to 16 GB. Now, my question is, would HP be willing to upgrade the RAM themselves if I paid an additional fee? I know the guide to upgrade RAM is online, but I'd rather not take the risk and mess up the machine.  Thank you ahead of time.

Hello, I would like to upgrade the GPU and PSU on a  HP Envy H8-1437c.  The GPU I am wanting to upgrade to is the GEFORCE GTX 970.  It is 10" in length, PCI Express 3.0,  and a dual port (or double wide?).  The PSU is  a  EVGA Supernove Nex650G.  Are there any proprietary power connectors on the current psu that I should be worried about? Am I able to upgrade the current GPU (NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 )to the GEFORCE GTX 970? Thank you very much!

Hello,Since I have some basic computer knowledge but I want to be sure before going for it, I need your advice. I own a HP ENVY Sleekbook 4-1000en and I recently upgraded hard drive and OS.I am thinking of upgrading RAM as well, as far as I know you need 2 memories of the same type so I guess I can?t just buy another 4 GB one right?Do I need 2 x 4 GB DDR3 of the same type to make it work? For example would these ones work finehttp://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-8gb-high-performance-sodimm-memory-upgrade-kit-cmsx8gx3m2a1600c9 ?Lastly does upgrading memory require any other configurations after plugin them in? Is a format required for example? Thanks for your time.

I'm interested in swapping out my current HDD and replacing it with an SSD. Are there any limitations on the size of SSD I can install? Will a 1tb work or am I limited to 512gb or anything like that? Are there any complications I should be aware of while considering this upgrade? Thanks a bunch!

A:upgrading Envy m6 1125dx with SSD, are there any limitations...

See p. 48 of the Manual here: M6 service Manual https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7kLMZoGoTs There is no limit to the SSD you can install other than your budget. Any 2.5 inch SATA SSD that is 7mm thick which almost all are.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6BM3T90744&cm_re=Samsung_850_Evo-_-20-147-373-_-... The Samsung Evo 850 is my choice but OCZ, Kingston, several others make a good product so as long as it is a name brand you can shop on price and there are deals to be had.  Software reinstallation/migration can be hard but if you have Windows 10 you always know you can download an install disk and you do not need a Key Code to reinstall and it will activate when you connect to the internet. Windows 10 allows you to make a system image and you can also use cloning software. Schwaa, welcome to the forum. This was a very good review of how you upgraded your computer.  What you discovered are the problems that are created by a mid-size case.  It would be great if HP would offer a full size case for their gaming computers.  What you accomplished should make a major difference in performance.

Hi, I had a problem with my old HDD installed on my HP ENVY 15-j012la, so I bought a new 240 gb SSD (Crucial BX200). I replaced the HDD with the SSD, then turn the laptop ON with the USB Win10 image to install it on the SSD, but the installer didn't recognized it. I gave format to the SSD, but the problem remains. I've read that the SATA should be changed in the BIOS, but this laptop has the InsydeH20 3.7 and there's no way to change to AHCI. I would be very grateful if you could help with this issue! Best !

The service guide for the HP Laptop ENVY 17-j013cl indicates the largest SSD that is compatible is 160GB.  Does the service guide state this because, at the time the ENVY 17 was produced, the largest SSD was 160GB?   Or is the system limited to 160GB SSD, for some reason? Thanks.

I picked up a refurbished HP ENVY 750-137C, and am currently looking to upgrade the graphics. I don't want to break the bank, but I do want it to last me some time, so I'm looking at the Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1070.  Aside from the changes in power requirements, does anyone know if this card would be compatible, and if there are any issues to this upgrade? Also, Nvidia recommends a 500W power supply for this card. Would that be enough, or is that genrous number? Additionally, if anyone has a power supply product they would recommend for this theoretical combination, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks!

A:Upgrading to GTX 1070 Graphics Card for HP ENVY 750-137C

@Drifterx311?, welcome to the forum. Here are the full specs of the card on nVidia's website.  The card is double slot and 10.5" in length.  I suggest measuring from the Back I/O plate to the front of the case to see how much space is available.  I believe that it will fit, but it will be tight. As you stated, the specs recommend a 500W power supply unit (PSU).  Personally, I would buy one with at least 600W.  This will give you some extra power for peak needs.  I like Corsair products.  Here are some PSU's for you to review at Newegg.  If you choose a modular PSU it will allow you to only install the cables that are absolutely necessary.  This allows for better airflow.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer.  Read the Customer Reviews to see what users have to say about them.  A good PSU will make your system run much better. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

The right hinge on my Envy 17 Touch Screen has failed, causing the case to become separated and the lid to be nearly impossible to close. This is the second Envy 17 to fail in this way. About a year ago my husband's broke and HP spent nearly three months attempting to repair it before finally just shipping him a new one. This appears to be a flaw in the construction of the hinge assembly, and we have noticed that the newer models, such as my husband's replacement, have a much improved design in comparison. We spent about $1,300 on this computer (it has an i7 Core and 16 GB of RAM) and hoped it would hold up for a while. The laptop was great, but now it has become difficult to use without fear of causing further damage. Thank you for any suggestions.

The notebook seems to have a "bubble" on the keyboard where it's higher than the rest of the keyboard. Obviously it's impacting the entire notebook since it's no longer sitting level. I'm concerned it's going to impact the performance of the keyboard and the fact that it's not even and "rocks" when I'm typing is driving me crazy.   Can someone please direct me on how this can be repaired. Hi,

I bought Windows 7 having come from Vista. However, there is a BIOS update for my system. The new BIOS update states: The BIOS updates the fan control algorithm of the system, and turns the fan on at low volume while your notebook PC is operational. If you are currently experiencing any symptoms on your notebook PC, please contact HP for support. It is located here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...340180&lang=en

I'd love to flash it but not sure if it will ruin my computer as it's more than likely not designed for flash when Windows 7 is on it or do you's know any better?

I also have 2 blue vertical lines going do the right hand side of the screen. I've seen loads of problems but no solutions. Has any fixed this HP problem?

Cheers folks!

A:Upgrading BIOS after Upgrading from Vista to 7

The BIOS is the stuff that happens BEFORE Windows starts to load.
Do you have issues with overheating or with the fan? If so, the BIOS update is for you.
Also, BIOS flashes are dangerous - and you can turn your computer into a paperweight by doing it incorrectly. In short, if it ain't broke - don't fix it!

The type of lines that you describe on your screen are usually caused by hardware issues. Send it in for repair if the system is under warranty. If not, then get an estimate from a local computer store - it may be cheaper to live with it.

I purchased my HP Envy laptop a little over two years ago and maybe months into my ownership the right hinge began to be problematic It wasn't a huge issue I would push it and it would click right back in but now the issue has become extremely out of hand nbsp Both hinges malfunction now screws are missing and the black plastic bottom detatches a considerable amount every time I open the laptop and makes cringe-worthy sounds whenever I open and close the machine nbsp nbsp Reading through other people experiencing this issue I'm extremely disheartened that HP didn't issue a recall on this product or make an effort to reach out to users to let them know a solution My hopes in this contact is to hear back from an HP rep in hopes of HP M6 Envy some repair with little or no cost to me The machine has never been dropped or mishandled and works very well HP Envy M6 aside from this important functional issue the opening and closing of the product nbsp Hope to hear back from someone soon Thank you

Q: HP ENVY

Hi allI purchased this notebook 3 weeks ago got 12gb of memory and I want to update to 16gb which is the max spent a lot of time with different hp staff who say I cannot upgrade the memory it will affect my warranty, this is why I asked HP to upgrade for me there answer is they don't upgrade any notebooks which seems strange, why say in the manual and website can be upgraded if I do it my warranty will be void of course I understand that. They seem to me as all they are is box shifters now.I've purchasing HP stuff from about 1983 this is just rubbish from them

My Envy Notebook is having difficulty with recieving wireless signals at a reasonalbe distance from the wireless router.  When the computer is in the same room as the router everthing is OK, but at 50 feet away, it works intermittenly even though the wireless properties show 4 bars out of 5 at that distance. I have replaced my old wireless router with a Netgear AC1900, a very highly rated wireless router and the problem did not change. I have read about all the problems with the Intel N2230 wireless card and I don't seem to have those problems. Should I replace the wireless card?   I would like to know what other wireless cards are compatible with this notebook just in case it it an N2230 issue. The serial number of the Envy is 5CG3412DV8

Kp002 I read your post about problems with your new HP PC and wanted to help. You should not be having problems with a PC this new. While this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs. If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!Good Luck

Q: HP Envy

One of the screws that holds my HP Envy 17 - j053ea laptop casing together no longer attaches to anything. It appears that the screw was once attached to a plastic fitting, but now that fitting is broken and the pieces of plastic are loose inside the laptop. When I open the laptop, the casing pulls apart near the hinge. I purchased the lap top brand new paid 1000 just over year and half ago. How can the laptop be repaired?

Hey all

So, I didn't want to resort to this and potentially waste peoples time but I really can't reach a conclusion. I'm running a HP Envy 15, (full specs below) and I can't decide whether with NVIDIA Experience optimising GTA whether I could play GTA at a decent (>25fps) framerate on medium settings or not. I've tried 'Can I run it' but whilst it says I can run minimum I'm struggling to interpret whether that means I could run it decently or not!

System specs as follows:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, 4 cores, 8 logical processors
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 840M, 2GB
Memory: 12GB DDR3

Can anyone give me any advice? Any other specs that I should post to make it easier to decide?

Thanks a ton,
- Clubmeber

A:Could I run GTA V? HP ENVY 15

Yes, and very fast. The RAM you have really helps in performance. It should be about 45 FPS at an average. NVIDIA Experience shouldn't give you lag unless it does on games that are less computer demanding. High settings should work fine at 30 FPS or so (with your specs).
It will be a lot easier to decide if you gave your OS bit size (32-Bit, 64-Bit, etc.)

If you have a 32-Bit OS, GTA V should give you 30-40 FPS on high settings.

If you have a 64-Bit OS, GTA V should give you 40-60 FPS on high settings.

Hope this helps!

Greetings, Measure the existing power supply. Then compare the measurements to the  EVGA 500 W you are interested in using. You will need to add an operating system (OS) to the list. OEM OS licenses are not transferable. You might as well go all the way and add a new tower. Build a new system. Keep the 700-216 as a backup PC. I changed some components on an Envy 810-150 (below) but built a new system (custom build) using all new components and a new operating system. My Systems:Envy Phoenix 810-150se running Win 7 Professional:Upgrades include: EVGA 4GB GTX 970 OC FTW with Backplate, 32 GB RAM, Corsair RM650x Power Supply, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD.My Custom Build:Corsair Obsidian Series 450D. Posting in this forum as no other form seemed to be the appropriate place. Thinking of purchasing HP Envy desktop 750-229. Problem is I need to blow away windows 10 and install my Windows 7 OS from an image. Do to so I need the windows 7 drivers for this desktop. Does HP have these available for download?

A:HP ENVY 750-229

Hi: It appears that HP has an incomplete set of W7 drivers for that PC. Missing chipset, usb3, wireless to name a few. They also show an AMD graphics driver, but the product specs indicate the PC comes with a nvidia graphics card. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-750-200-Desktop-PC-series/9259609/model/1052... You should be able to find any missing drivers you need from the hardware manufacturers' websites (Intel, Nvidia, etc).

Q: OS envy

Hey, first post! Ok, so I have a mac user that I take care of, and he was wondering about mouse over techniques. For example, in OS X when you want to move a file to another folder from your desktop, you can drag the file, mouse over your drive and it opens the window. Now I think this is a neat little tool as well, so my question is: Can I enable such a mouse-over feature in Xp? If not, oh well, no loss. So if anyone has clues or suggestions I would greatly appreciate,
Josh

The fan for cooling seems to be running all the time. About a month or so ago, it would run and then seem to shut down. It is annoying; but more than that, I want to make sure there isn't an issue wih the cooling/fan? I have had his lptop for about 4 years, and never had this issue before. Thanks, billfuss

A:Fan in HP ENVY m6

The cooling fan is probably running more noticeably because the insides of the laptop are getting filled with dust, which in turn causes the heat to builf up and thus the fan has to run at a higher speed to cool things down.  For a laptop of 4 years that would not be unusual.  Take it to a PC shop and have it cleaned out and checked, but that is the probable reason.

I've purchased the HP envy 13 about a month ago. Is it normal for the laptop to get really hot to the point it burns your hand to touch? The laptop seems to get really hot after 10 minutes of turning it on and it has been like this since the 1st day I got it. The hottest part of the laptop would be the space above the the centre of the key board (under the hp logo) and the top 2 rows of the buttons get really hot too. I can also feel underneath the laptop is really hot aswell. Please can someone help as I'm not sure if this is an issue. The fans are really loud even when theres nothing covering the air vent.

Hey @fxmikey?,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! This is a great place to find solutions and help from our community! I understand you have some inquiries about the fan in your HP Envy 13. A:Envy m6 won't charge

Hi, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!  Take a look at where the power plugs into the laptop.  If the power plug shows any of the silver (chrome) adapter, this is likely your problem. **DANGER** UNPLUG THE POWER FROM THE WALL POWER OUTLET BEFORE PROCEEDING! Unplug the adapter from the laptop and look into the hole in the center of the plug-in portion. You will probably need a flashlight. You will probably see that the center pin is bent to one side and is no longer in the center of the hole. To repair this.............. Straighten the outermost bend of a regularly sized paperclip (the 1 inch type) and then used a multi-tool to bend the tip (about 1/16th inch) to a 90 bend and then insert it into the center hole. After getting the tip behind the center pin, slowly pull the paperclip out. you have to repeat this several times and also had to GENTLY pry the tip back to the center of the hole with the tip of the bent paperclip. Now when you plug in the power plug it goes all the way in and the laptop once again charges while on. Hope this may help. Thanks. ****Click the White Kudos star to say thanks********Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem****

Hi everyone I thought I'd finally make a post about this somewhere in gaming 23 ENVY HP All-in-One for hopes HP ENVY 23 All-in-One for gaming that there is some way to at least ease up this issue if not fix it completely I purchased this desktop computer around I want to say and it has been a great PC so far that has never given me any trouble - except for one thing Occasionally I like playing a few games and such on my PC but getting them to run in decent quality has been impossible without extreme lag that's honestly so bad that it rendered me unable to even play It was frustrating but I suffered through it for a bit until recently - I just bought a new game with obviously really good graphics and is a pretty busy first-person online shooter So a lot is going on I expected impossible lag and that's pretty much what I got I just really don't want to feel like I wasted money on this game but at the same time keeping the display settings for the game as low as they can possibly be making it all HP ENVY 23 All-in-One for gaming pixelated hard to see and just really choppy for what I paid for just to make it run nbsp kind of nbsp okay is a bit of a bummer nbsp So what I'm trying to get at here is is there any way I can fix this Even if it means having to purchase something extra I'm honestly willing to give it a shot And I'm not even expecting to run the game with perfect pristine settings where it runs super smoothly while having the greatest graphics settings possible in beautiful p with a fantastic framerate or whatever I know I'd actually just need to HP ENVY 23 All-in-One for gaming get a computer FOR gaming for something like that but I also don't think I should have to deal with the bare minimum nbsp I tried clearing out some space on my computer and whatnot and even adjusted my system settings to run for best performance reverting it to a bit lower quality I noticed the smoothing for text and stuff is gone and dragging windows is just a frame outline etc just to see if it'd help at all My computer has nbsp Intel R HD Graphics I hope there can be some way to make things a little better I'm willing to do whatever is actually possible aside from going out and buying a new PC haha If I would have known this desktop wasn't right for stuff like this I obviously wouldn't have purchased it but I'm hoping there is a way to just work around this and get things going nbsp nbsp Thank you

A:HP Envy with no Audio

Hi: The only suggestion I can offer, would be to try reinstalling the audio driver, restart the PC, and see if that fixes the problem. This package contains the driver that enables the IDTHigh-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

I recently purchased the HP Envy M7-n011dx, with the hope of being able to install a M.2 ssd in it to boot from as well as run my programs.  After looking at the manual for it I found that it did in fact have the port for the SSD, however, looking through the forums I am now more confused then ever as to whether this laptop has the m.2 port enabled.  Before i go and order any hardware or try to take the computer apart after purchase, I was hoping that someone could let me know if this particular model allows for the use of the M.2 SSD.  My research seems to show the n0xx models have the port enabled where the n1xx models do not.  Anybody have any ideas or input?

A:M.2 SSD use with HP Envy M7-n011dx

Not exactly. The Manual says this about that: SSD con?gurations , (available for i7 + GTX PCA) ? 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD (TLC) ? 128 GB M2 SATA-3 (TLC) ? 128 GB M2 SATA-3 (TLC) value So only the models with an i7 + GTX graphics, i.e the 950M has an M.2 port and I think yours is 940M.  I have followed this whole M.2 debacle here since the beginning and here is what we have seen; models with an M.2 port that is dead, disabled. Models that have an M.2 port clearly depicted in the Manual but when you open the case, you find only the traces for an M.2 but no actual port soldered on.  So I hesitate strongly to give any advice on adding an M.2 drive to any HP laptop that does not have it from the factory. That is the only way you can be 100% sure it will work. If you are brave, at a minimum, open it up first and check to see if the mounting hardware is actually there. Don't order the M.2 drive before the laptop even gets to your door as several people have done, to their great disappointment and expense.  The only way an M.2 is a "gotta have" is if you can use an NVME PCI-e version, not SATA. SATA based M.2s are not significantly faster than a good old 2.5 inch SATA-III SSD which we absolutely can say will work. And that is another story altogether: which models can accept an NVME M.2?

I've had frequent BSODs for over 2.5 years spanning Windows 8, 8.1, and 10. Hardware diagnostics have showed no failures. The machine has been to repair 3 times with only the HDD replaced, which did not fix the problem. I have restored to factory settings at least 8 times with no joy. The errors can happen anytime, but most typically occur when the machine is left running unattended. In recently months the error is most often not visible and the machine has not rebooted but is sitting with a dark screen and the fans running hard. All drivers and software should be up-to-date and I've tried power setting changes, turning off notifications, and other minor fixes.

The latest HP Case Manager wants me to restore to Win8 and test for several weeks so I thought I'd try again.

My DM Log file is attached.

Thanks!

A:Adding a 2nd SSD to an HP Envy 17t

I had cloned the original 1TB 5400RPM HDD onto a new PNY CS1311 120GB SSD.  I wanted to have the OS and applications on the 120GB and add the PNY CS1311 960GB SSD in the 2nd bay for all my other files which I also backup offsite.  Since the laptop can only see the 2nd drive ocassionally, I've cloned the original HDD to the 960GB SSD.  The laptop works fine with just the 960GB SSD in the first bay.  It's not the setup I wanted, but it'll work.

Hello all,  I have recently bought a brand new HP Envy 13 and I noticed that the region between the keyboard and the screen is getting really hot (between the on/off button and the Bang & Olufsen inscription). Battery life is way shorter than advertised by the brand, a fact that I don't know if it's related with the mentioned problem. I did not have any performance problems but i do not feel that these are natural conditions for a new laptop. Wonder if any of this laptop users managed to fix this issue and can give a help..

Hello, On 14th of september 2016 bought new notebook envy x360 15-aq003ur. So your complaint is the "fit and finish" of the laptop? I see a lot of laptops and those pictures do not show anything that is extraordinarily bad. Well within standard assembly tolerances.

Hey! I have ENVY 15-j040 and would like to upgrade it with SSD. Could you please answer whether I have a chance to add it (preferred way) or replace hdd? Which type of SSD is supported? Thanks in advance.

A:HP ENVY 15-j040sr SSD

See p. 47 of the Manual here: Manual Your laptop has an mSATA slot for the older form factor mSSD but that device can only be used in conjunction with a mechanical hard drive as an Intel Rapid Storage acceleration cache. It is not bootable unless it is the only hard drive in the computer. Even then, the speed of the mSATA of this type is no faster than a SATA 2.5 inch SSD and the latter are cheaper and easier to find in useable sizes. So, your best option is to replace the 5400 rpm mechanical drive with a 2.5 inch SATA-III SSD and my suggestion is always the Samsung 850 Evo.  https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-850-EVO-2-5-Inch-MZ-75E500B/dp/B00OBRE5UE/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid... If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi, Try the following. Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74501-75000/sp74867.exe When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, shutdown the notebook. Unplug the AC Adapter.  Hold down the power button continuously for 30 seconds, then release it. Plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K
