Connecting two monitors to HP Envy Phoenix 860-010

Q: Connecting two monitors to HP Envy Phoenix 860-010

I'm trying to connect my two monitors for my new computer, but I'm having no luck. The first monitor is being recognized but the second one isn't. There are three HDMI ports on the back and 3 ports, I'm not sure of. I've tried the other HDMI ports and nothing. Any help would be appciated. Borgbear

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This type of monitor is the best way to channel the power of your GTX 980 Ti, which inherited its anti-aliasing power from the many generations before it, as opposed to having it choke on the 4K pixel-mania in chase for almost the same effect, at the expense of the dropped FPS.

I am purchasing a MSI GTX 960 Gaming 4G GPU, and I think it has capablilities for 4 monitors to be displayed as a single desktop. If this is true, what cables should I get, and any ideas for decent cheap monitors? My plan is to have three monitors side by side as a single entity, and a fourth on the side as a reference screen (I would prefer this one to be rather small, like 6-8 inch)

I dont know how long its been going on but within a internet provider switch from AT&T to TWC its still been doing this. Every time I reset the router name or password it lets me reconnect to the internet, but when I shut it down and boot it up later or after a couple hours it refuses to connect until I switch the router name or security password.

Its a toshiba running windows 7
The adapter is realtek or something like that which im pretty sure is the cause but nothing seems to fix this issue.
Thanks for any info on this.

A:Laptop Stops connecting to internet randomly

What is the Model number of the Toshiba laptop?
Does your laptop come with an Ethernet port (most do have one)? If so, try connecting directly to your router with an Ethernet Cable and see if the problem continues.
I highly doubt that its a problem with the Router (but it could be). I believe that you may have a problem with the wireless drivers installed. I would suggest:
1. Download the wireless drivers from the Toshiba website
2. Properly Uninstall the wireless drivers
3. Install wireless drivers from the download (step 1).
4. Wait and see if problem still persists. If so, let us know.

Hey guys weird problem here The TB internal drive in my PC started slowly dying in December and my brother got me an SSD additional and connecting when laggy hard drives PC sluggish for Christmas I installed it and it works amazing flawlessly and I love it When I attempted to make my old dying drive a secondary hard drive Windows PC laggy and sluggish when connecting additional hard drives recognized it fine despite the SATA connection broken off and I was able to salvage what I wanted from it The speed of the transfer was blazing and I was pretty happy but I noticed Windows getting insanely laggy and sluggish The mouse would stop moving every few inches and the keyboard would stop responding Instead of normal lag such as me typing this sentence nothing happening and then it appearing in full a few seconds later when the lag would catch up it would be a jumble of letters For example if I typed quot wow my computer is going slow right now quot it would come out quot wom mpui gin sright n quot That s a new type of lag for me as my PC has never had issues I assumed this was due to the death of the drive and Windows having problems recognizing it or reading it Sure enough when I disconnected it everything ran smoothly I have an iOmega TB external drive LDHD-UP - don t judge it was on sale that I m not too fond of but I use regularly for storage and backup I usually have it plugged into the back of my PC and this presents a whole other issue which I need another thread for but I ve dealt with it fine and it normally works all right However I found out it s USB compatible and my PC has outlets on the top so I wanted to keep it plugged into there But when I do that I experience that exact same type of lag as before when the internal hard drive was plugged in It s persistent and near-constant but it stops the second I turn off the hard drive I ve disabled antivirus I ve ran disckchecks I ve formatted none of it makes a difference Does anyone know what would be causing this with separate hard drives connected in completely different ways Any help would be greatly appreciated nbsp

A:PC laggy and sluggish when connecting additional hard drives

I don't know the answer but will comment about the issue of lag in typing. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and I know when the batteries need replacing because the keyboard behaves exactly like yours and the mouse stops moving the cursor properly. Maybe your issue's connected with the power being drawn when you have the two drives connected. Don't rush out and upgrade your psu though. I only switch on my usb external hard drive for the occasions I need it.

I am creating a small demo software wherein 4 simple mono-audio speakers need to be connected to my laptop, the main program, written in Java will play audio from one of the speakers depending on the input cue.

How do I go about achieving this? Any tips, hints most appreciated.

A:Connecting multiple speakers to my laptop and controlling them individually

First, the laptop audio is not a home sound system and can be easily overloaded with what you are attempting - - don't drive this at high output volumes!

this will show the wiring to get all 4 with output at the same time.

The speakers in parallel like this create a load 4x heavier than just one speaker.
Get 8ohm speakers like these
which will reduce the load to only 2x.

The red circles are individual volume controls. Place a toggle switch between the controls and the speakers and you can play 1, 1+2, 1+2+3 or all four.

I'm trying to connect 3 monitors to my Sapphire HD 7770 OC edition which has 2 mini DP ports,1 HDMI and 1 DVI port. So I have 2 adapters mini DP to DVI (the 10$ ones from amazon) and I have a Sapphire HDMI to DVI adapter(maybe I could use that in some combination). So I connect 2 monitors via DVI cables into the DP adapters, and one monitor into the DVI output of the card via VGA cable with a VGA/DVI adapter. And I cannot duplicate the 3rd monitor in catalyst. So it recognize 3 monitors but I cannot duplicate the 3rd, only 2 monitors are working in the same time and I can chose which ones...So should I get a new monitor with a DVI output, or buy new active adapters becouse I think the ones I have aren't active. In this case can I buy just one or do I have to buy 2 ? Or can I buy 1 active DP and then use the HDMI to DVI adapter ? I hope someone can help me.

A:3 monitors problem

That card should support up to 4 displays, so perhaps the non-active adaptors are the problem.

Maybe someone else with more experience here can confirm.

A:Dual AMD W7000 for 8 monitors - No support from AMD

Ok so if I am reading correctly this is the card you purchased correct?

Now then, you have two of these running in one machine im assuming X-Fired together so you can output on 8 displays. So the way im reading this (please correct my if im wrong) you have 8 display port adapters going to 8 different monitors (Display port to HDMI, DVI, or what?).

So here are my questions:
Which monitors have dropped off (Which card or both and which ports)?
Do you have the latest Catalyst for the Workstation cards running?
What version of windows are you running?

Here's a couple of quick things you can do to try and get all 8 working and ill see if I can't figure out the issue with you:

Try disabling eyefinity and running every monitor as an independent display.
Try rebuilding eyefinity in the control center and see if it detects all 8 monitors

One thing is that display port is designed to hold more than one monitor per port, im guessing you are using the DVI connectors since they came with it. My advice would be instead of using every port on each card, buy some of the dual display port adapters and use only the top card to run eyefinity, using 2 cards for multiple displays tends to run into issues at times especially when connecting such an extreme amount of monitors.

A:Help connecting to wifi

Hey Ryan. Is this a laptop or desktop. If it's a desktop, it likely doesn't have a wireless adapter that will allow connection to you wireless network. If it's a laptop, right click on My Computer,Properties, select Device Manager tab, then look for Network Adapters and click once on the + and see if you see any wireless adapter listed and if it is enabled. You can enable/disable a wireless adapter by right clicking and toggling between enable/disable. In either case, it probably needs quite a bit of work to get it up to date, and assuming everything else seems ok, I myself would start from scratch and reformat the drive and reinstall XP (assuming you have an XP disk for it) since any maintenance programs are just as old. If you're not sure about this, tell us the make and model number of this pc.

A:2 Monitors Have The Same Settings But Show Up Different Sizes

I have mostly fixed the problem! In the resolution settings there is an option that says make text and other items larger or smaller. For some odd reason all of the different monitors were set to different sizes. After switching all those to a small size. That immediately fixed the issue with games looking blown up and gargantuan on my 60 inch tv. But the charms bar was still huge. So going to the settings through the load up screen and not desktop mode in windows 8 I went to the settings and in the display settings there was another option for toolbars and whatnot which was set to default only on the 60 inch tv. When I set that to small like the rest that fixed the issue with that. So everything seems to be fixed right........ sadly no its a lot better than it was but not completely fixed yet.

While for gaming its definatly fixed. When I move an internet window from one to the other monitors the zoom sizes still change size between the 3 monitors. While this isn't a big issue since its something I can deal with. I would like to fix it if I can. What I would really like is to know if theres a way I can lock the zoom mode betwixt all 3 monitors for the internet settings. I checked the internet options and didn't notice anything that stood out to me for locking for fixing that.

When I was at my work computer it has 4 monitors, 3 are the same and 1 is a large tv. I noticed that when I moved stuff into the large tv such as an internet window, it didn't change the zoom size on my work station so im wondering what the difference is between them.

On a side note. For some reason when I start up games now most start up in stereoscopic mode. I figured out that ctrl+t shuts it off in most cases but it didn't used to do that and in my NVidia settings I cant seem to find any option for 3d vision/stereoscopic mode. This may require a full post but figured id ask it here for now.

Hey guys,

I'm needing some information that is extremely hard to come by.

The 740m in the HP Envy 17t-j000, does anyone know, or does anyone know WHERE to look (Google failed me, or I failed Google!) to find out whether it needs ACTIVE displayport -> HDMI adapters?

I question this because I know the 57xx series from ATI required active. The card only supported 1 RAMDAC signal (or something?) and the Nvidia's tech seems different. According to HP support, passive will work fine. I need to have the adapters ordered ASAP, but I do not want to order the incorrect ones.

Hey everyone I idle monitors display Dual PC after anything won't occasionally is ve been having a recent issue with my monitors and it s really been stumping me lately I recently acquired a nd Yamakasi x monitor from South Korea I love these things and while the monitors themselves are working quite well I ve been having an issue since I connected the nd one Occasionally maybe - of the time when the PC has been idle for long enough that Dual monitors occasionally won't display anything after PC is idle the monitors have turned off when I come back to the PC and move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard the monitors turn back on and I am promptly greeted with a black screen on both however it appears that there IS a signal as the monitors turn on and remain on however that signal is just a blank black screen I ve got both monitors beside each other and the one on the left side is plugged directly into the dual link DVI port on the back of my master in my crossfire configuration The right-side monitor is plugged into an active displayport to dual link DVI adapter which also requires a USB port for power When I notice this black screen effect I also notice a small thin blueish bar spanning the height of the right monitor at the far right side of the screen this bar looks about the same thickness as the side edge of an open window in Windows but I ve never been able to tell if that s what it is or not UPDATE Upon closer inspection of the quot blue bar quot I can now tell that it doesn t look quite the same as the Windows side edges of a window It does span the entire vertical length of the screen it s about - pixels wide fairly bright blue and the far left or right seems to be random as to which it is column of pixels is a brighter blue than the rest Also the line isn t QUITE at the far edge of the screen it s offset from the edge by about another - pixels When I get this black screen effect the mouse cursor will never appear and no matter what I do including pressing control-alt-delete nothing else will ever appear on the screen If I press the power button I can see and hear my PC doing the usual process that it does when Windows goes through a normal shut-down which is the current setting for the functionality of the power button and then it turns off like normal Upon restart the issue is gone of the time until the PC is left idle again except that the right-hand displayport adapter monitor is not recognized by Windows upon reboot until I unplug and replug it I m running Windows Professional and I just freshly reinstalled Windows on a blank solid state drive within the last two weeks It appears to me that Windows is still running just fine since it seems to shut down normally and it looks almost as though the black screen is a huge window that is stretched almost fully across my monitors with only the far right edge visible and without any way to interact with this window However I also wonder if it could be an issue with the dual link display port to DVI adapter because every single time upon restart of the PC after this issue occurs it only recognizes the left side monitor and won t recognize the right one until I unplug the adapter from the displayport and reinsert it Obviously I don t want to be unplugging and replugging my monitor on a daily basis so I m wondering if anyone has heard of a similar problem or what I could possibly do about this Thanks in advance everyone nbsp

A:Dual monitors occasionally won't display anything after PC is idle

Update: I've discovered that usually the problem can be solved by unplugging and replugging the displayport adapter while the PC is on, but only if the aforementioned "blue line" is present on the right-hand screen when I move the mouse. Yesterday, I had a similar issue except that instead of turning back on and detecting the PC's video signal which is just a black screen for both of them (with blue bar on the right one), the monitors (both of them) refused to even acknowledge that there was a signal coming to them at all and wouldn't even turn their backlights on or wake from sleep mode. Even when I hooked up 2 different monitors using standard DVI-D single link or dual link cables, I still could not get any video signal to output at all, to ANY monitor.

Turning my speakers on, I found that I could hear the Windows 8 "device connect" and "device disconnect" sounds when I unplugged or replugged either of my 27" monitors, but nothing at all was heard when attempting to switch to other monitors. This tells me that Windows IS detecting and seeing the monitors, but somehow the video signal is just not reinitializing properly after the computer turns the monitors off after idle time.

The only solutions I've got at the moment are to set Windows to NEVER turn my monitors off, or to shut down the PC every single time I'm done with it; neither of these solutions are particularly pleasing to me. Please let me know if anyone has any advice at all, even if it's just an idea that may or may not work out.

I own an internet cafe. it's RENTED in an older building. one after another each pc/monitor has died. I also have games that are like slot machines. every power supply to the lcd monitors has blown and some of the mother boards. the only thing unaffected is the slot like games that have cathode ray tubes. The hoof beats the land lord keeps hearing are zebras rather than horses so as not to take any responsibility. Everything is on surge protectors.

Up until a few days ago I had no problems with my wireless internet connection.
Ihave Bt Infinity. I have two computers a desktop operating on Windows xp and a laptop.
There is no problem with the laptop and am getting download speeds around 38 to 40 Mbps
However on the desktop the download speed has dropped to 3 to 4 Mbps and the connection cuts off every ten or 15 minutes. The only way I can get it back is to unplug and reinstall my netgear adapter.
Any help on resolving this issue would be much appreciated

When I bought this computer it had windows 7 on it. it ran everything lag/shutter free. I have since upgraded to windows 8 then to 8.1. The problem is the audio and video noticeably lags/shutters. As if the entire computer is pausing. I have talked to HP tech support and they only reinstalled the drivers. All drivers are current. I am fairly sure it has something to do with the HD4k graphics but I do not know for sure. I was hoping the 8.1 would resolve the problem but it has not. I have this problem whenever I watch videos (on the internet or from file) and when I play World of tanks. Any help would be great

So recently my machine has been in my backpack travelling with me due few reasons. When I came home today and mounted it all up again, one of my HDDs became RAW system and I am unable to access it. Now Windows keeps insisting that I should format the drive but I really need to preserve most of the saved data.

Iv downloaded TestDisk but have no idea how to use it.

Is there a way to at least recover my files? I really need to get another backup drive to have my important work saved on.

Using Windows 7 x64 Pro.

Shall I let Windows format the drive? Would this make me loose all my data?

You can't display two different video feeds using a splitter. You need to buy another monitor and use two physical outputs on your graphics card.

Thanks I advnce.

A:Problem connecting to Wi-Fi router

Make sure that when you are using the USB-WiFi, that you have disconnected the laptop from the router first.
You can not have two connections on the same system to the same router. Several things will cause the first
connection to dominate the traffic flow.

I am interested on having 4 or 5 monitors on 1 GPU. In fututre I might add another GPU for doubling this number (if possible).
1) Is it possible to do that? (two same GPUs for many monitors?)
2)I have some GPUs in mind.
a) XFX HD-677X-NZFC Radeo HD 6770 1 GB
b) xfx-radeon-hd-6870
c) gigabyte-gv-n650oc-1gi-graphics-card-gf-gtx-650-1gb
d) sapphire-radeon-hd-7770-flex
e) Asus GT 640.

Which one do you believe shall I choose?
Are these cards for 4-5 monitors as I believe?

All these are up to 150 euro.
I do not care for gaming. Only have many windows - apps running (software, emails, etc)
Thank you very much for all your help

A:Four or five monitors running on one cheap GPU

What resolution are the monitors and what inputs do they have (Displayport would be preferable)? Also you need to clarify if you need 4 or 5 monitors, that will make a big difference as quite a few cards support 4 monitors but finding a single card which supports 5-6 monitors is much harder.

Hi, I have a WD5000 that has suddenly stopped connecting to my desktop and also laptop. I tried a new USB cord (purchased new from Best Buy) and it is still not working. The yellow light goes on, but I no longer see the drive listed. I tried reinstalling the driver from western digitals website but when I check under devices & printers or device manager, it shows me "unknown device" with a yellow ! mark in a triangle. I tried to troubleshoot it but the error is always the same... "no driver found". I have tried connecting to my Windows Vista desktop, Windows 7 desktop and my Windows 7 laptop and it is not working on any of them. Of course it has not been backed up-- and the only thing I care about right now is recovering the data off of the external hard drive. Can someone help? Thanks!

A:WD50000 not connecting with computer

This usually indicates the drive controller within the external drive is failing. If you have important data on that drive it's best to disassemble the enclosure and purchase an external drive enclosure.

I've had several WD drive's fail on me sooner than I thought. Now I try to say with Seagate.

The device manager says it is operating, the mfr?s software says the switch is on (and the panel light is on) and that there are no issues. I downloaded and installed the mfr?s driver (2010 is the latest). I?ve pulled the battery and held the button for 60 seconds. All to no connection. Everything points to an issue with the AT&T Uverse router except my cabled desktop and Dell laptop wireless computer access the internet fine. Which points to the Toshiba being the problem. I wish to connect a second monitor to my PC desktop.
My current monitor is a LCD, Plug and Play monitor, manufacturer: standard monitor type, model WJ1780PI, D-12055 - one straight wire, (please see attachment numbered 1) connecting to a VGA port.

There is also another VGA port, (see attachment numbered 2). However I tried taking out the VGA cable from slot 1 and slotting it into slot 2 and it came up that there is no signal?

What would be the best way to get around this. Would a VGA splitter work??

A:Advice on how to set up dual monitors

The VGA port that you have there marked as "2" is the Integrated graphic cards VGP port and it does not work together with the one that is marked as"1". If you want to connect one more display to that graphics card then you will have to use the connectors on the right side of the "1" VGA port. Sadly tho the s-video and the RCA there are mostly used to old projectors and TVs.
So I would say that you will need to get a new graphics card (GPU) to get more displays connected.

What is the least expensive way to add a second monitor, not including cost of monitor

A:Dual monitors

All you need to add a second monitor is a graphics card with at least two display ports (which most do). Two DVI connections is recommended but you can use DP or HDMI as well. The desktop can be configured and arranged after through your video card's control panel.

im no expert but it could be your refresh rate on the second monitor is different from the first so that could be it,

1.go to control panel under appearance and personalization click adjust screen resolution the monitor you want to change advanced setting and monitor tab and change the refresh rate

and your gaming fps should not go down through the multi display set up unless your doing something graphic/cpu demanding task

A:Connecting chassis fans to the motherboard

Hi alexjsc, One way to power extra fans is to tap off 12v from one of your 4 pin molex connections, to, say a DVD drive.
There are molex adapters which have a plug on one side and a socket on the other, plus a small plug for one of your extra fans.
You need to check the number of pins on your fans connections, could be 3 or 4, but you need power for 3 fans also.
Also, do you want to be able to slow the new case fans, or to have them running full speed always.
This is the type of connector;

Hello all I multiple monitors for a card video new Purchasing ve been interested in upgrading my work station also gaming station Purchasing a new video card for multiple monitors by investing in multiple monitors I m not looking for more than monitors but I would like to have at least monitors I currently have a monitor that I have plugged into a graphics card that hasn t let me down yet Its connection to the monitor is DVI but I d like all new monitors to use HDMI cables My computer from Dell is an XPS I believe Core i GHz GB RAM Win -bit ATI Radeon HD Money is only part of an issue -- I m open to suggestions on higher-end and lower-end products My questions for you all are What kind of graphics card should I be looking for and should I look into a card that can support multiple monitors and should I use my old one Will there be any conflicts I will need to be aware of while proceeding through this process What would you all recommend for monitor setup What is the best setup for gaming with clear smooth screens Do I need to upgrade any other hardware parts to make this all work together Thank you all in advance A nbsp

A:Purchasing a new video card for multiple monitors

The Radeon 5700 series should support up to 5 monitors. I have not personally used a multi monitor setup for gaming however from what I hear a lot games either arent designed for multimonitor setups or they dont work very well. However, there are some games that are really nice with a multi monitor setup. So you should probably ask yourself what games you are going to be playing and see if those work well with a multi monitor setup. Also, Multi monitor setups require a large display resolution so your videocard will be working overtime. I dont think a 5700 series card will have the oomph to really makes games run smoothly at larger resolutions. So, I dont know what your budget is but I would guess you may have to upgrade your card to something more recent, say a 7800 or 7900 series. I cant comment on Nvidia cards as I am not as familiar with them.
As far as compatibility goes you may need a display port adapter for the third monitor. These are relatively cheap. Also at 525 Watts your power supply barely meets the system requirements for a new card so depending on what else is pulling power in your system you may or may not need a new power supply.

Maybe someone else can chime in with some Nvidia options.

I recently purchased a new kodak esp 1.2 all-in-one printer.
I have a compaq laptop with NIS (Norton Internet Security) connected to a Sky router.
When I set up the new printer it found the router without any problems and I entered the password and established the network connection.
I installed the software that came with the printer and when prompted tried to establish the wifi connection to the printer but it keeps coming back with "printer not detected". I've tried disabling Smart Firewall etc. but don't know what to check.
If my laptop and printer are both connected to the same router / network, what could be responsible for my laptop not finding the printer?
My technical knowledge is very limited so an easy to follow / step by step guide would be incredibly helpful. I've tried to check with the Kodak extended user guides and other Internet searches to no avail. Thanks.

While you're at it, get the documentation - - especially the quick install guide.

I am helping my uncle built a computer and looking for a gpu which can handle 5 monitors and still have enough power to run a 3d modelling program (dont know the name of it) any ideas?

A:Graphics card for five monitors and a demanding program

Running five displays in 2D isn't really demanding at all, its just a case of connectivity. For example, a HD6870 should handle six displays (at least mine does), but dependant on the 3D modelling performance required it changes things dramatically.

You need to consider several things:

1. The connections the displays will actually use, as you'll be using DisplayPort connectors if your adding that many, so converters will need to be considered if the displays don't natively run them.
2. The exact usage of the computer. If its just 3D, and only that, commerical grade (workstation) FirePro GPUs are more than likely a better alternative.
3. Whether you want to run two GPUs in SLI/CF in order to achieve the required capacity to run these displays.
4. An important one...Budget!

It used to be the case (if I remember correctly) that Nvidia GPUs were better optimised for the sort of work your uncle would be using them for. Not sure if its the case now.

Workstation GPUs will have drivers specifically optimised for 3D modelling work, and will be better supported. These are bloody expensive though.

If you want a good all-round GPU with serious horsepower for 3D modelling I'd go with something like a GTX580, or the new GTX680. One problem though, they're both limited to four displays (580 might be three only), so to run five, you'd need a second one in SLI.

Either that, or ditch the fifth display and just run four with a GTX680.

I cant detect my two monitors plugged into my second card. Im not sure if that means my second card is not being detected, or if i need the crossfire bridge connecting the two cards.

I know the monitors work, already tested. I figured i would try putting the bridge on the two cards but my 6870s didnt come with one, nor did my motherboard.
Really dont know what to do here, ive always owned nvideas.

Both cards seem to be running, both fans are going.

A:Four monitors with two HD 6870s. Second card undetected?

I'd order a CFX bridge personally. Your running dual GPU's, so it makes sense to have them connected.

Although I'm not sure if you are required to have the bridge in place to use the video output of another GPU. That said, a single HD6870 can run upto six displays anyway, at least mine can.

First of all hello everyone I m new to the forum but i m glad to be one board A couple of weeks ago I built a new desktop for myself but kept my old harddisk and therefore kept all my files I upgraded to Win Home Premium from Vista Home Premium as well When I turn on my pc I connect to my router as normal but it has problems identifying the network and usually defines it as a public network even though the network at on is definitely my private network and promptly doesn t give me internet access Occassionally I do manage to connect to the internet successfully however when this happens I get an error message when opening my browser and indeed all browsers saying that DNS Lookup has failed The issue with not connecting to the network successfully appears to be ip related as diagnosing the problem results in a message that my wireless network adapter does not has a valid rarely Connecting and but when lookup Internet, fails DNS I do to router ip I have renewed my ip address to no avail As far as the DNS Lookup Failure goes IP and DNS are both set to assign automatically although I have tried manually setting the DNS to Google s server just to see what happens nothing I have disabled my firewalls and made sure that the browsers are allowed through I have of course reset my modem several times which doesn t help I also flushed the dns just to see if that did anything I ve had a quick look at my router settings but Connecting to router but rarely Internet, and when I do DNS lookup fails I m hesistant to change anything since I don t know much about it and I have housemates that also connect through the router As far as my internet adapter goes I m using an old D-Link g- which hasn t every given me any problems I ve also made sure that the drivers for this are up to date Any help would be wonderful I m quite sick of having no internet Thanks nbsp

Just a bit more info...

Just posting things while I remember them...

I had problems connecting yesterday so fiddled with my settings for a bit. Then restarted, and connected (but still got a DNS error). However, having done exactly the same thing today I haven't been able to connect at all.

I just tried to system restore from yesterday to see if I could at least emulate that and get connected to the internet, but no dice.

How frustrating...

Go for an Nvidia 560TI or a 570, they will both clock down when you disable your second monitor Mugemon is a great utility for this. 560TI = £200, 570 = £275

A:Three monitors?

For 3 monitors on Nvidia you would need an SLI configuration. Or you could get an AMD Eyefinity card. Your motherboard port won't work because the graphics are coming from your GTX 560.

VNC was working on my internal network viewing between different machines. I just changed the router (netgear wrn3500) and can't seem to connect between machines anymore. Able to access internet from each machine and can see windows shares. I am using the ip address assigned directly instead of using machine names.
Router firmware is stock.
Another thing is that the router is setup to use opendns. Had used opendns some time before and somewhat sure there were no problems with vnc.

Appreciate any thoughts / suggestions to the cause...

The router is not involved in the connection other than routing; if you can ping and use the shares, then I'm sure the router is irrelevant too.

I would suspect your firewall(s) on both ends. The VNC ports need to be opened on both machines.

VNC by default uses TCP port 5900+N,[5][6] where N is the display number (usually :0 for a physical display). Several implementations also start a basic HTTP server on port 5800+N to provide a VNC viewer as a Java applet, allowing easy connection through any Java-enabled web browser. Different port assignments can be used as long as both client and server are configured accordingly.Click to expand...

Good Morning everyone,

So this is just a quick question. But before I ask im going to post my specs

NOW onto my question.

I need to connect four monitors for work related functions. Currently I have only been able to connect two. I cannot use surround view and I don't play games so I don't use intense graphics. I was wondering if adding two PCI cards will suffice?

what are my options, hopefully something cheap

I Have an Ultra360 SCSI Hard Disk, and I just want to connect it to my PC to copy its Data to my own hard disk, will this adapter do it for me:

And how will I be able to deal with it ? I mean will I see it as a new hard disk in Windows ?

A:Connecting a SCSI HDD to a desktop PC

I've done a lot of work in SCSI and you are on the right track.
One important issue with your drive: Was it originally an external or internal drive?
An internal drive will have 3 resistors near the cable connector on the pc-board,
while an external will not.

There is one issue you need to resolve: what connector is on your drive?
SCSI has three styles of cabling scsi-I, scsi-II, & scsi-III. Your drive will need
to cable to your controller card.

use google to look for SCSI cables and you'll get some pictures and descriptions.

As you may not have worked with this before, I'll remind you that SCSI needs terminator and the end of the device chain - - even if there's only one device.
There are two types: Active and Passive - - it doesn't matter.

While your drive will have only ONE connector, due to the termination requirement,
it MUST be mounted in a SCSI enclosure which will provide:

the cable connector (internal) to the drive
the scsi cable connector to the controller card
the connector for the terminator
AND the scsi address selector {0-7} (never use 0, that's for the controller/internal hd), so typically select (1) as the scsi address
btw, (b-c) can be the upper or the lower connectors, they are not polarized.

A:Problem with connecting to Internet

You can fix the Internet connectivity issues of your router in your wireless network; first, you can check the type of issue faced. Check for your router and the associated hardware. If you have issues with your power supply, you need to ensure proper supply of power. Check your Ethernet connectivity cables; if you have any issues with them, you could replace the cables. If you have issues with your Internet Service Provider, you can contact them and get the problem fixed.

A:Questions about webcams and monitors

well the easiest one to answer is using a computer with a tv, yes its easy and works exactly the same way you use it with a normal monitor but it depends 1. what plugs does the tv have (HTMI, VGA or DVI) 2. what graphics card do you have on you computer right now (because it is possible with older cards but can be buggy) and 3. how many tv screens you want to hook up to your computer (may need dual graphic cards)

I just recently hooked up my gaming pc to a 50inch plasma and was playing metro 2033 and watching blueray movies and worked perfectly (actually runs at a lower resolution then normal computer monitors so it runs faster)

A:How do I connect six monitors to this desktop ?

Something like this is what you'll need.

From there you'd need the cables depending on what type of interface you're monitors support. This particular card comes with 4 mini display to display-port and 2 mini-display to DVI. So check monitor's connection options and buy cables accordingly. I can't seem to find a decent current specs sheet on you're PC, so I'm not sure if you're current PSU will be able to power this card.

It seems that Asus, unlike other video card makers, tends to use non-standard, proprietary connectors. I ran into a similar problem years ago when I bought an Arctic Cooling graphics card cooler for an Asus card I had, a Radeon X850 Pro. After searching the Asus website I found a note that said there was this problem with Asus products and the solution is to cut off the Arctic Cooling connector and splice in the Asus connector. It worked but the wires are small so the operation was tricky. Be careful when you strip the wires and make sure you wrap the spliced wires in electrical tape so they don't short against each other.

I haven't had to replace a VGA cooler since then but just in case I've avoided Asus graphics cards for this reason. Evidently, after all these years it's still a problem.

As you have two monitors of different makes and therefore specs this will be a pain to fix, I fear.
First have a look in msconfig (keyboard window key + R, and type in msconfig and then enter). Check the startup tab and look for any reference to ATI drivers being preloaded - if you see them take the tick out of the box, click OK and restart when prompted.
If that is no good, come back to us.

Follow this instruction and post the text file. Please state your version of Windows. If you are using XP or earlier just type cmd in the search box and hit enter. A new connection has the address or similar so it probably just needs to be set up correctly. Have you changed the router since the old PC was last used or reset it?

Click on Start and type cmd into the search box. Right click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator. Copy and paste this command into the box at the command prompt and hit Enter:

netsh interface ip show config >c:\ipconfig.txt

If you're talking about a VGA-to-VGA splitter, I think you'll only be able to get two instances of the same screen to show up.

If you're talking about a different port that can handle more data, you might be able to get this set-up to work. I know the computers we use at work have a video output port that has an adapter that splits into two VGA ports (or two DVI ports, depending), and we use that for a dual-monitor set-up (which everyone in the office has).

Some outputs are going to max out below the required 2560x1600 that you are after. Looks like it is limited to 6 x 1920x1080.

Any HD6000 series card should drive 6 monitors, although I think they need a displayport adapter to give 6 outputs. Again after some research it looks like you can't run 2560x1600 from all outputs. Either you'd have to settle for 1920x1080 or find another solution. Not sure about a Nvidia setup for 6 monitors at that resolution.

Reading some info about Nvidia solutions, I don't think they have anything that can drive 6 monitors. Hopefully someone with hands on experience can provide some more information.

Ohai Techspot how re you Good with Very problem strange monitors to hear I m pretty miffed with my new computer build to be honest let me tell you why Recently after much struggling with Amazon s delivery services I got the final parts for my computer set-up Now it s all been set-up I ve followed an online guide to the letter and two of my computers will no longer display on my monitor I m currently on Laptop A My old desktop is Desktop A and my new Desktop is Desktop B Desktop A and Desktop B are no longer able to send information to a monitor for some reason yet Laptop A is currently literally right now using the desktop monitor to extend the desktop Desktop A worked earlier this week but simply stopped sending information to the monitors tested with two monitors and two cables shortly before I went to pick up the final part for my new rig Any advice you could give me to fix these problems would be highly appreciated Desktop A has an inbuilt card and and external card which I am about to check I m going to remove the card and use only the in-built card to see if that changes anything and Desktop B only has an external one there is no in-built one on the motherboard Thanks for reading Moospammer Update Desktop A now works without the graphics card in nbsp

A:Very strange problem with monitors

you'll need to disable the on board graphics (built into the motherboard) before installing a new graphics card. when this isn't done, the computer doesn't know that it should be using the new graphics instead of the integrated one; will not display video. to disable the onboard adapter, restart the computer and hit the DEL key or corresponding F# key to access the BIOS. navigate the options and find the setting that controls the onboard graphics adapter, disable it, and then exit and save changes. now you can install the new card and affix it to the monitor. let us know if that fixes it.

I have had a toshiba laptop for a couple years. I decided to do a clean install of windows vista to clean out my computer a bit. After doing so, I can no longer connect to the internet. The drivers say they are installed and up to date so Im not sure what is wrong.

I just bought two LG E2340 Monitors that I want to hook up to my docking station. I have 1 VGA connector and 1 DVI connector. My laptop is a Dell Latitude D630. I have been reading other forums and they say in Display under Settings I can see which monitor is which but it doesnt say VGA or DVI.....
1 says Plug and Play Monitor on Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
2 says (Default Monitor) on Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

But they both slaved to one another, (they are showing a mirror image of each other)

what am i doing wrong?

I dont quite understand your setup sorry, you have a laptop (with a screen) that you want to connect 2 more screens to, thus ending up with 3 screens total? if so, Its unusual for a laptop to be able to do that.
Anyway, have you check the box which says "Extend my desktop onto this monitor"? in display properties? if that isnt selected they will just display mirror images like you say.
