Please How do I locate Graphics Configuration in my system BIOS Setup
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
The question is a little different than the title. What are you trying to configure in the graphics?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Pavilion-g7-Won-t-Boot-from-DVD-CD/td-p/5600660
HP Pavilion 6355 has the following issues:
1) Computer will not shut down by holding in power button. It must be "unplugged from outlet."
2) When power cord plugged in the light sequence on the tower reads, from left to right, yellow, green.
3) A Thumping sound comes from speakers, not the typical Bios Beeps.
4) Monitor is blank, yellow light indicator on.
5) Cannot open CD Drive, even manually.
This computer belongs to a friend of mine whose daughter uses it for High School work. She was working on it one day, received an error message, no, no, writing it down would be to easy , so she shut down using start-shutdown, and left for school. When she came back and resumed her work she was met with the above scenario.
Any ideas as to the most expeditious way to get to root of issue.
I have pavilion 15 ab522tx notebook and installed with windows 10 on it. I want to boot linux from USB boot disk but i couldn't enable the USB boot option in BIOS. please guide me.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/I-am-not-able-to-boot-from-USB-boot-disk-on-pavilion-15/td-p/5838192
Hi I have a HP Pavilion laptop with AMD processor and Windows Vista. I want to reinstall Windows Vista but I can not get it to boot from CD. I went to the BIOS and changed the order so that the CD-ROM drive boots first, but it still didnt work. I upgraded the BIOS but it still didnt work. Any ideas? I want to format the hard disk and reinstall a clean Windows Vista copy. My laptop does not have a floppy.
The CD ROM does work!
My HP won't boot properly. I have checked the harddisk and done a new windows installation on the HDD. So the HDD and windows are ok.
When I try to boot the PC it dies and starts over again. I can choose safe mode etc and go into the recovery console but still no success.
What can be the problem? Motherboard? RAM memories??
Is there a way to check for errors on the motherboard or RAM from the recovery console?

How to perform a Repair Installation of Windows? XP.
Two things are needed here, just a bit of old technology, an ink pen and a piece of paper to write down any special settings that might have to be changed back after the repair-installation is completed.
Please Note: Performing a "Repair Installation" in this manner should not delete any Personal Files, it should 'repair' the core of the installation but to be safe with your data you should follow the next two paragraphs.
You might have to remove the hard drive from this computer and install it in another computer as a slave drive and after it is able to be accessed by Windows on that computer you will have to manually backup all of your important data that you have to another media like CD-R's, DVD or external hard drive. Then when this is done return it to the original computer as a master drive on the primary IDE cable. and do the following:
REGISTRY WARNING :
The details that follow require an above-average understanding of the technical topics involved. If you do not understand the Registry material presented here, either find a technically knowledgeable friend or do not attempt to repair your system Registry yourself. Improper changes in the System Registry can render all data on your hard disk inaccessible. :
Here is a link to a registry backup program that is absolutely fantastic it is called ERUNT and you would use this to backup the registry after running the repair-install procedure successfully.
(Remember to always keep a backup of two things: Your registry, and your data. You will never be sorry. ]

A good set of instructions for doing a Repair-Installation are found on the following page and print out the pages of the site for reference further instructions on Slipstreaming Windows XP Home or Pro with any of the service packs are provided also other additional links that might be needed.

Just be attentive and follow all of the on-screen prompts.
Just let it do its thing...now when you finally are at the Windows Desktop, power down the computer and re-enter the BIOS and change the Boot Configuration Order back to its original configuration.
I hope that this cures your woes.
Post back with the results, and if there are any other queries/concerns.
Hello, I have 2 notebooks. HP Pavilion DV6-3060EZ which i used and old HP Compaq nx5000. Both have same problem. They won't boot up, but I will talk just about DV6. My battery died and I can't start notebook just with ac adapter. So yesterday I bought new battery. And there is same problem. When I press power button (with only battery plugged in, only ac-adapter, or both), led diods starts blinking, fan starts cooling and within 1 second it will shut down. I've read some articles on forum, i tried almost everything. I tried to disconnect ac adapter, battery, than 30 seconds hold power button and connect it back but it didn't work too. But, three-times happens, that when I tried to turn it on, it worked well, I was at Windows on my desktop. But after 5 minutes it shuts down. Thanks for any advice,czDAWIDhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Pavilion-DV6-won-t-boot-up/td-p/5723154
Laptop won't boot. Turns on to a blank screen and I get a blink code of 2 blinks on the caps lock. I have tried everything on the support site and it won't let me email supoort about it which is what the site says to do about this problem. i can't access the bios menu or anything.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/HP-pavilion-g6-will-not-boot/td-p/5839318
I have a HP Pavilion G6 model 1b78nr. I just replaced the CMOS battery but now the machine won't boot. When the power button is pushed, it's LED flashes white and the LED on the F2 key flashes amber until the battery is removed. The power button has no effect and there is no display. Is there a fix for this? Appreciate any assistance. Thanks.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Pavilion-G6-won-t-boot/td-p/5649386
I have the following problem with my HP Pavilion m7570n. When I turn the system on if gives the following message: File is missing or corrupt
\windows\system32\config\system. Is there any way to fix this problem without using the HP restore from the partition? If I do have to do the restore from the partition, will I lose the photographs and emails on the computer? Thanks for any assistance?
Try this first -
If that does not work then do a repair XP install (not the HP restore)
I am pretty sure the HP restore partition will wipe everything out and put it back to factory fresh.
I need to reinstall Windows XP on my laptop. I have an external DVD and the recovery Disk. I already changed the boot order to boot from CD. But I am still unable to boot from CD. The external is working fine and the CD is O.K
If the boot order is set to optical drive first, the laptop looks at its internal optical drive. Since it seems like the internal optical drive is not usable(?) then you need to set the boot order to USB or external device ahead of the hard drive.
My computer will not boot. The power supply light in the back turns on. Fans turn on. CD-ROM functions. No USB power and no LED light on the front. It does not come on at all when the computer turns on. When I turn on the power, I hear nothing but the fans, the screen is blank and keyboard and mouse have no lights. I have tested the monitor, keyboard and mouse and they are functioning. I think it could be the BIOS or either a motherboard problem. I need some help to narrow down the problem.

Hi, my PC HP Pavilion Slimline S3620la does not boot from usb. I can not choose the USB option in the setup (does not appear). The USB device does not appears in the boot option post bios (pressing ESC) too. I need boot from USB. Please Help me Thanks
1. Check if the USB device is really bootable, you can do that by checking the files on the root location or by trying to boot another computer using it.2. Start the computer and press 'esc' key to get into bios, then choose Boot Options or Boot Menu, then choose the USB device (Few BIOS have an option to enable/disable Legacy boot options, hence you have to enable it before you could change the boot sequence. Please note that the USB device needs to be on top of boot device list.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/hp-pavilion-boot-usb/td-p/5695363

I can't figure out how to get into the bios of my HP Pavilion 500-314. When I boot the pc there is no screen that indicates what key I press to boot into bios, it just automatically goes into the HP loading screen.
Hi: Normally, you can tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP splash screen to get a menu of options. From that list, select the F10 boot options menu. If that doesn't work, then see if you can get into the BIOS using the method described at the link below. Watch the video. All brand PC's with W8.1 have this feature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZcYbxOcPV0 If that doesn't work, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions to offer.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/How-to-boot-up-into-the-BIOS-of-HP-Pavilion-500-314/td-p/5003484
Hi All Mr Bruce has suggested I re-post my problem here so here goes A few weeks ago I started to download DVDShrink from what looked like a perfectly Notebook boot 7 Pavilion HP won't Win dv7 legitimate company site After I clicked to download the program it began instead to install itself At the Win 7 HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook won't boot same time all kinds of alarms went off - Comodo Malwarebytes etc - and I quickly shut down After booting up I ran a quick Mbam scan and it found infected files which I deleted I then ran a full Mbam scan and it found a bunch more Later I also ran full Mbam and Avast scans but this time around neither came up with anything For a few days everything ran OK but then Firefox began to freeze up whenever I brought up a web page with a Youtube video on it Then other things started to freeze - Task Manager etc - and now it's reached the stage that the computer won't boot The computer won't even start in Safe Mode At best it just brings up my mouse pointer which works and the Windows Welcome screen but nothing more Different Windows messages have appeared at times one of which said something to the effect that Windows was stopping to prevent further damage There is a separate RECOVERY partition on the D drive for restoring the computer to factory settings but I can't access it Pressing the F keys on startup bring up the following screens while pressing the ESC key on startup brings up a menu listing all five of these options F - System Information F - Advanced System Diagnostics F - Boot Manager with options Hard Drive CD DVD Rom Drive Network Adapter I shifted to and booted but the only disc I have is a Win System Repair Boot Disc This kicked in started running and then fizzled out F - BIOS Setup F - System Recovery This gives options Start Windows Normally Launch Startup Repair I've run both of these many times and always with the same result - they fizzle out leaving the Windows welcome screen mouse pointer or sometimes just a blank screen Any advice members could offer would be greatly appreciated Here is a link to my earlier topic about this problem so you'll know what has already been tried http www bleepingcomputer com forums t win- -hp-pavilion-dv -notebook-frozen
I'll report this topic to appropriate helpers.
1. Please let us know what Windows version you have and if it's 32- or 64-bit.
2. Is the computer bootable in any mode?
Hold on there....
I've got an older HP Pavilion 501n that I need to install XP Pro onto... It's currently running XP home, but I need to set it up onto a domain.
The machine won't boot to the CD... I've tried both XP and Debian install CD's, but neither work (so it's not the media).
If I let the machine boot to XP Home then try to run the XP Pro setup, it tells me it cannot continue becuase the existing version of Windows (XP Home) is newer than the one I'm trying to install.
My preference is to format the drive and start from scratch, but I can't do this if I can't boot to the CD.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook that will not boot. It was left unplugged for several months because I don't use it very much. I am getting ready for a vacation and usually take it along but when I plugged it in to update the OS it started downloading and installing updates then shut down and now goes into a loop. Tries to boot, gets as far as loading the desktop then black screen and then starts reboot again.
It has the original bios version F.34. everything there looks good. Ran HD self test from bios then memory test. Everything checks out ok. Factory OS was Vista but is now running 7 Ultimate 64bit.
If I try to boot in safe mode with networking I get a BSOD. Safe mode will boot. Safe mode with command prompt will boot.
If you are able to see the Safe Mode options you are in the Advanced Boot Options. One of the options there is Repair Your Computer. Run this and see if it can resolve this issue.
What is the make and model of this computer?
I'm trying to get to the welcome screen to enter my password to actually use my computer. However it's stuck on the loading screen. I've tried everything online, hard reset, restore, and diagnostic testing. I cannot restore because my computer isn't connected to the Internet to create a restore point. The diagnostics say everything passed. Everything. I ran testsome on the Hard Drive for 3 days straight. So if the diagnostics can't find anything I don't know why it won't load.Btw this happened out of the blue while watching Netflix on my laptop while HDMI connected to a TV.I know about the system resetc but I'm trying to think of a way to still backup my files before deleting themy. Any advice on how to save my pc?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/HP-pavilion-2000-won-t-boot-up/td-p/5782633

My problem concerns:-
HP Pavillion X2 detachable PC10
System ID 815D
Product ID 1234567#ABA
Product number MS69EA#ABU
Serial (removed content)
I downloaded Advanced SystemCare 9 PRO from IObit after it loaded and called for a restart, my conpouter has never worked again. It came up with error code 0xc0000001 operating system has failed to start.
I bought the HP recovery media P/N828684-031 09/21/16 Release 1
I followed the instructions but it comes up with a box titled "Recovery Manager" a yellow triange and message OXFFEEO18, when I pressed OK it goes to a white line on the side of a black screen or some times it goes to recovering drive C, it gets to 100% then goes back to the original error code.
I have run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic UEFI and it tests as OK.
Any help would be appreciated

I have a Pavilion DV that I am attempting to repair The issue is when its powered on / 6700 No HP No No DV PAVILION / HDD / Boot OS it goes straigh to quot Press F to rsume F to Setup F does nothing F doenst do much either When I enter the BIOS to perform a HDD self check it says the self test is disabled When you first power the laptop on the HDD light does come on for short time I have tried resetting the BIOS booting with a Vista disk I believe this is the OS installed however not sure When I boot with a Vista disk recovery find no HDD I tried HP PAVILION DV 6700 / No Boot / No OS / No HDD with an XP disk and got the same result This is a SATA drive however the connecters seem to be more vertical and not horizontal meaning I cant plug the drive into one of my drive caddies to test the drive that way or even to recover some data if the drive is truly bad or just the master boot sector I have read that the BIOS on this particular machine may not provide the self test and that the BIOS would need to be flashed however I am not sure how to do this with the Windows EXE that HP provided if I cant get it to boot Has anyone seen anything like this before I have some a lot of HDD issues but not one like this at least not with this kind of SATA connection that isnt your quot general quot SATA connection Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated Thanks all email protected nbsp

There's no point messing with discs, recovery mode, memory, etc., it's clearly a hard drive problem. The bottle must have hit in just the right place. Try opening the underside & inspect the HDD connection, it's possible it was just knocked loose. If not, the HDD was damaged & will need to be replaced. Hopefully you have all your important files backed up."message saying PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable"Just wanted to explain this error message. The laptop is going thru the boot order. No HDD is being detected so it's attempting to boot off a network drive. No network drive is being detected so it's telling you to check the cable. I highly doubt there's a cable to check.message edited by riiderhttp://www.computing.net/answers/windows-xp/hp-pavilion-dv5000z-wont-boot-up-why/203491.html

I am hoping to get an HP Pavilion 540N computer working for a friend. I have no software, recovery disks etc. and the computer won't boot. I see that the harddrive light flickers initially; but, that is it. There is no attempt to access the cd drive or floppy drive. The monitor displays nothing at all. The monitor is good since I hooked it to another computer and it worked fine. The computer had Windows XP loaded. Any suggestions as to where to start? Thank you in advance.
Hi i cant boot that pc from external cd tried two external cd i turn off secure boot legacy and delete all legacy boot key but still notebook wont start from cd help
CDs, generally speaking, are not bootable. You probably mean DVD media instead. What type of "external cd" device are you using and how is it connected to the notebook? What kind of media are you using and what is on the media? What do you mean by the following statement? "delete all legacy boot key"http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Cant-run-cd-boot-in-hp-pavilion-13-a200nw/td-p/5763659
Hey I'm Trying to figure out if there's a fix for A HP Pavilion Dv4, not booting up at all.. I fear the motherboard is gone, for the only response I get is when I press the power button and hold it in, you see the chagre "Lightning bolt" flash, BUT as soon as I let go of the power button, the light goes out.. Thats the only sign of life, But again I have to hold in the power button to even get that.. Any Suggestions? THX!!
Hi,I have ongoing issues with my HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-P287SA, Windows 10. Yesterday it would not boot, instead it flashed the caps-lock LED at me once which I beleive is a CPU issue. I did a hard reset on it (took the battery out ect.) and it booted and worked normally all day. This moring it again won't boot again but this time it beeps twice, waits a few seconds and then beeps twice again, five tinmes in total, and then it flashes the caps-lock LED twice, waits, and then twice again. It won't boot at all, even after a hard reset. What does the beeping mean, what is the problem here?

I have a bootable USB stick that I want to use to install Linux. The does not appear to be an option to boot from USB in BIOS. My unit has BIOS 5.43. I'm trying to boot my computer from a DVD, but I can't get to the boot menu or anything. The computer displays the HP logo and a message on the bottom saying to press ESC for startup menu. I try that, and nothing works. When the computer turns on, it has Windows 10 trying to recover itself, but this just leads to a blank screen. I also tried to press F10, but that didn't work either. What can I do to boot to the CD/DVD drive instead?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/HP-Pavilion-can-t-get-to-boot-menu/td-p/5786330
My laptop will not boot. Screen stays blank. All lights are on. Num lock and CAP-lock blink twice. I have removed the battery, memory, HD and all accessorys. same error.
Hi! If the caps lock is blinking twice it mean the bios is corrupted You can try to rollback the bios, press and hold the windows key then press hold tas well the letter B, while holding those keys power up the pc If nothing happens, try to power on again but immidiately tap ESC repeatedly , startup menu will appear on the screen. If you dont have the start up menu, try to power on again then immidiately tap F2 or F10 In F2 there's an option BIOS management, choose the option ROLLBACK IN F10, set the bios into defaults by pressing f9 , then f10 again to save the changes and reboot the system. I have a laptop I picked up as a spare from a friend. It turns out everything is okay but her hard drive and since I'm too cheap to buy a hard drive I'm trying to use a spare 200gb 3.5" IDE drive I have through USB. When I begin booting into Windows however, it bluescreens and requires a restart. It gives me a stop message (0x0000007B) which I found out means it is have trouble booting from the drive.
The laptop is an HP Pavilion zv6000 and the hard drive is a Western Digital (If that makes a difference)

I searched the web for possible solutions and read a few threads. Ended up doing the following.
1. Unplug external devices other than mouse & keyboard. Mine where parallel printer (via usb port) and my router.
2. Power on and booted fine.
3. Clicked on Start/Restart and booted fine.
4. Clicked on Start/Shut Down, reconnected the router, power on, booted fine.
5. Opened browser, go on a couple of sites and all is fine.
6. Clicked on Start/Shut Down, reconnected the printer, power on and hung up.
7. Unplug power cord from the back, disconnect printer, power on and booted fine.
8. Clicked on Start/Shut Down, reconnected the printer in different usb ports (total 3 ports), power on and hung up.
9. Unplug power cord from the back, disconnect printer, power on and booted fine.
Printer: HP LaserJet 2100 which worked fine before in the win7 os.
Any one have any feedback?
I recently bought HP Pavilion Elite e9160f on e-bay. It's came with Vista and I upgrade it to w7.
And install new video board EVGA 9800 GT.
I connect PC to my flat screen TV an everything was OK, exept no sound. Aperantly I was missing spdif connection from motherboard to video board. I don't have cable and made one.
I have to remove and install video board several time until I was done.
And when I start PC - it's not boot any more.
1. I realise Power button not glow but LED on power supply is on
2. System fan and CPU fan start but after couple second stop.
3. Then after couple seconds fans start again.
4. But monitor black.
If anyone have any suggestion - I will be really appreciate
My brother sent me his zv laptop to try and repair the power connector He said that it wouldn t charge the battery and that he would have to move the plug around to get power After doing some research it seemed like a bad power jack which is a very common problem with HP s So I took the laptop apart and checked HP boot doesn't Pavilion laptop out the connector it seemed fine When I put it all back together HP Pavilion laptop doesn't boot it wouldn t boot My brother said that it worked before he sent it HP Pavilion laptop doesn't boot too me and I forgot to try it HP Pavilion laptop doesn't boot when I got it The power LED and all the lights on the keyboard would turn on the processor fans ran for about seconds then shut off and there was no display or HDD activity I figured the motherboard probably died which I was going to replace anyway After getting a used one from Ebay I put it in the laptop and it did the same thing So I grabbed a different processor and tried that No luck I have gone so far as to take the board completely out of the laptop and with just power and the display hooked up no RAM no HDD no keyboard and tried to boot Nothing The only things that have been common are the processor fans heatsink and the power supply The power supply voltage checks out ok about Vdc I am really at a loss as to what it could be Is there some reset on the board that I am missing I really don t want to put any more money into this thing My brother doesn t really want it back but I want to try to figure it out anyway Any help would be appreciated nbsphttps://forums.techguy.org/threads/hp-pavilion-laptop-doesnt-boot.465207/
So I have been trying everything i can think of to fix this computer I'm fixing it for someone else it's not mine I ran diagnostics when I first got it and it said the RAM had failed so I bought brand new RAM and it fixed absolutely nothing thought the new RAM was faulty swapped for new sticks still fixed nothing So what's happening is sometimes it will load to the Windows is loading files screen and it will either freeze there or it will load past but end at a blank screen and stay that way forever or it will go to the Microsoft loading screen and at that point I will get a BSOD that has a different error code each time I don't remember with Help issues) Pavilion a6403w(boot the exact codes but I researched them as they appeared and they were all either a file system error a memory error or a driver error So I loaded to recovery disc and the same thing yes I set boot order to CD Help with Pavilion a6403w(boot issues) first and I reset CMOS I even attempted a reinstall with a brand new hard drive I can't run HP diagnostics either because it either doesn't load or it freezes during the process Basically no matter what I do it freezes or I get a BSOD Not sure what other information would be needed Let me know if I need to add any specs or anything It's running Vista Home Premium bit EDIT Also should mention I cannot boot in safe mode either Same thing happens when I attempt to

Since yesterday, i have been unable to access my pc with a constant loop of the HP logo with a spinning spiral loading constantly or "preparing automatic repair" and sometimes being eventually lead to an error message saying something like "your PC ran into a problem" and that it needs to restart.
anyone have any idea of how i could fix this?
by the way my PC has no disk drive.
i would be very grateful if i could have some feedback.
The very first step you should do is to confirm whether the issue is caused be hardware or software reason. I would recommend running the built in diagnostic test as the first stepp.
1. Press Esc during power on to interrupt booting and display "Startup" menu.
2. Press F2 or select Diagnostic from menu to execute a diagnostic test. Some newer HP models may have separate testing routines to test HDD, RAM etc. Make sure to run all of them. Also make sure to run the "Extended/Full" version of HDD test.
Let us know the result with next reply.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the bios boot preferences to a USB device in a HP Pavilion desktop pc? (Bios 3.14)
At first glance there appears to be no option to change the preferences to boot from a USB device; but since I'm a novice and my computer is totally new and up to date, surely it's possible to boot from a USB device, is it?!
The bios only has the option to boot from a cd/dvd drive or a hard drive. There are other options but they are disabled, such as a floppy drive.
I'd be really grateful for any help.
If you are curious: I want to turn my external hard drive into a live usb drive for a linux os.

Should I try something else?
Hello @blue0318, Thank you for posting on the HP Forums! I have read your post and understand that your HP Pavilion x2 - 12-b020nr is not booting. I want to help you resolve this issue. When the Caps lock button flashes for one second, does it continue in a cycle or does the notebook shut off on it's own?If the notebook shuts off on it's on, does it turn itself back on and off in a cycle? Please begin with a hard reset. Once that is compelte, please follow this troubleshooting document: HP Notebook PCs - Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset I look forward to your reply! Just got this unit, it is showing "Error: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed".
I went into the boot order trying to boot of a win7 disk, as this first pic shows
the default is set to UEFI, I move the arrow down to "Legacy Boot Sources" as shown in pic 2 below but when I hit ENTER nothing is happening?
It's ok, I got it to work but now other problem sheesh. I had thought it was the wireless mouse which was not working but attaching a wired USB mouse is also not working, I am at the Install Windows screen but not seeing a mouse cursor, any ideas please?http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/553886/hp-pavilion-23-boot-order-not-changing/
My computer HP pavilion dv6000 running Vista has issues! It will not boot on battery power! It gets to the Microsoft Corporation screen and while loading it glitches. Now it's getting worse and sometimes it does the same thing when it is plugged in! When this problem happens it does start up repair every time and it does not solve the problem it gives an error message "Root cause found A patch is preventing the system from starting Repair action:System files integrity check and repair Result: Failed. Error code = 0x2" I have reinstalled Bios and ran a battery health check and it does not fix the problem.
Sounds like it maybe a bad battery. It sounds like its surging and has fried the adapter now as well. How old is the system? Do you have SP1? That might cause a problem, its unlikely but it could be.
When I push the power button, the screen remains blank & I get a LED light from the caps lock button that flashes three times, pause, three times, pause, three times. I also get a audible sound of three beeps, pause, three beeps, pause, three beeps. I have tried a "hard reset" & the other things suggested in the HP troubleshooting guide. Usually after I turn the computer off after several times of dealing with the flashes & beeps, it will finally boot correctly. I bought the notebook in 2014 & this is the first problem I have had with it. Any help is much appreciated.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Boot-problem-with-HP-Pavilion-17-Notebook-PC/td-p/5608703

To, I installed Windows 10 on my hp Pavilion g6 Windows 8 laptop last night however I came downstairs this morning to find that it is now stuck in the hp logo boot up screen. It is just the logo on the screen with no boot up circle or anything. I tried to reset the laptop and do a system recovery. However every time I try, it fails to even start the recovery process. I also tried booting it up in safe mode but that has the same issue. Please help.
Reseat the memory module(s) to troubleshoot the memory modules:Put one module in the soDIMM slot closest to the middle of the notebook and then try booting up. Try them one at a time to see which one has failed. If your notebook has only one memory module, then it has probably failed.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Hp-pavilion-g6-stuck-on-boot-up-screen/td-p/5757718
This EZ533UA Pavilion boots intermittantly and when it does, the hard drive isn't seen. The notebook looks for a Network boot device. I installed a new ATA-6 hard drive. I've changed the RTC clock battery, and I can access the old 80GB Hitachi Travelstar HTS541080G9AT00 hard drive files on another system. Any ideas?

Hi, Recently purchased an SSD for my slow laptop, I installed Windows 8.1 back on it okay and everything works perfectly (Much more responsive) However, the boot time is troubling me, my sister and Dad's laptops have SSD's and they boot within 5 seconds and mine takes about 30! I have disabled everything in startup and till the problem persists, it takes as long to start up as it did with the original 5400RPM drive. I have now put that in my optical drive bay as storage. i have a hp laptop and it will not boot up. it is an xp machine and the lights come on and nothing else happens. please advise. thank you
In order to solve the problem, you are advised to write more about your system specification. And also when this thing happen and what exactly the problem. Is the computer fan spinning during boot? So it is just the monitor issue? Or only the lights are on?
I'm trying to install Win 7 from a (know good working) USB flashdrive. The desktop is a USB Pavilion Slimline PC 400-314 with WIN 10 already on it. I've attempted to go into the Boot Menu (using Esc) to access the Boot Menu but I don't see the USB in there (see attached).
Also tried going into BIOS & have made USB Hdd the first but still no luck (see attached). It just boots normally into Win 10. Once in Win10, it see's the USB drive. I tried both the front & rear USB ports. I know the drive is good because because I just installed/booted from it yesterday on another machine.
I've also made sure all USB ports are enabled unless there is some setting preventing a boot from USB?
Any assistance appreciated. Thanks.
As most newer computers do, you have a UEFI Bios. Restart the computer and press F10 to Boot into Setup (Bios) and look for Secure Boot If it is enabled using your arrow and Enter key Disable it or change it to Setup Mode.
Now at the Boot tab, scroll down to Legacy Boot Sources select it and press F10 to accept. With the USB Flash drive in, Under Hard Drive Group, you USB Flash drive should now be listed. or just USB Hard Drive, Select it and Move it to First Boot Device. Save and Exit.
Or, if you cannot make changes in the Bios, Create a Bootable UEFI USB Flash drive with your Windows ISO using Rufus in my signature.
I have a problem with this my laptop HP pavilion ze4900. when i power it on, it doesn't boot up although light is on indicating that it is getting power through the battery or AC Adapter. i tried to change the RAM, nothing helps. Anyone has an idea how to solve this problem?
Try this sequence of steps
Remove any attached devices (usb etc)
Remove both the Battery and the Power Adaptor
Hold down the ON button on the laptop for 30 secs (this will disperse all internal voltage)
Put the Power Adaptor in only (ie leave the battery out)
Try turning on
If it works
Turn it off, and put the Battery back in
Turn it back on
Hi, The laptop was not powered down cleanly and now won't boot up. I get an "unmountable boot volume" error when it tries its automatic repair. I get a "Hard Drive Optimized DST Check: FAILED" message when performing the System Extensive Test after pressing F2 when booting. [Failure ID: 9C7PVL-71189F-MFPWWK-61XB03]. I tried to re-install Windows 10 from the .iso I downloaded from the Microsoft website, and I just get a black screen after the "press any key to boot from CD/DVD" message. Thanks.

We recently changed out the keyboard and the ac jack. The battery is being recharged with the yellow light on! There is not any power whatsoever! It won’t even try to come on! Any suggestions, we thought about doing a CMOS reset! We have already done the whole, take the battery out and reset thing! Any help will be greatly appreciated. By the way, the last time we used this computer it worked, but that was like two years ago! It just had problems with the power jack. Maybe we did something taking it apart? My husband was very careful. We just don’t want to spend a ton getting it fixed. Also, how do you tell if the motherboard is bad? Thanks, Misty
My 4.5-year-old HP Pavilion P7-1074 desktop was down last week. Planed to get a replacement on Black Friday or Boxing Day. But I do need to run some programs inside the desktop's hard drve. So I attatched my desktop's hard dive to my HP Pavilion 15 Notebook's USB port with an Enclosure. The laptop could recognize the external hard drive as SYSTEM (F 62.2 MB free of 97.9 MB, OS (G1.11 TB free of 1.35 TB, and HP_RECOVERY (H 1.33 GB free of 11.0 GB. But I could not find out the programs I wanted to run. I went into the BIOS to set the Boot order to Boot from USB first, but I could not get the result I expected. The laptop always boots from its own hard drive. I tried all three USB ports, no one worked. Could somebody please help me?Thanks a lot!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Help-needed-HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-could-not-boot-from/td-p/5789489

hey guys i own a hp pavilion dv9000 (2008)......for the past few weeks it wont boot or even show any signs of booting .......i had given it for service when this happened the first time...but it repeated very often and i had to give it for service very often ......at last those technicians said tat there is some major problem wih the motherboard but arent clear about the problem....
GPU: nvidia geforce 7600
OS: Win 7 -64 bit
ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.......
Should i change my motherboard now or do u think there would be any other minor problems that can be looked upon.....pls help
Changing the motherboard on a laptop is not really an option. Cost wise it will probably be about the same as buying a new laptop.
I have had laptops labelled dead by repair shops when all that needed doing was to re seat some connector. Link to video on how to take the laptop apart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOdmGuiq1l8
Fair warning: it's going to take MUCH longer than the 15 min of the video to dismantle it and putting the thing back together is tedious and delicate work
To start, I am reading through the tutorial by BRINK regarding this "How to....". I printed the related topics so I have it in front of me and also reading the replies from other members. Well after reading about 25 pages of the 191, I am starting my own thread. Am I out of line here? If so, advise me and I'll join the mentioned thread and mark this one as resolved. If it's ok to proceed with this thread, I'll respond with the issues I at hand.
If you want to run XP, simplify the process and virtualize it. XP runs perfectly in a virtual machine, and your system is more than capable of doing so.http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/265308-dual-boot-hp-pavilion-p6310f-7-xp-pro.html
Dear HP community, i am am currently having an issue with my computer of 5 years. I have been rejecting the Windows 10 update for as long as I could but ultimately it did a self update and shortly after updating, I was unable to even start up my computer as I kept getting stuck at the loading page with two errors "error with FAT32 hard drive" and "error with NTFS hard drive". To which, the subsequent message would be "we are attempting to resolve this issue by restarting your computer" and I would be stuck in the infinite loop where my computer cannot start upi would appreciate any and all forms of help as this is highly frustrating, given that my school term has started and I am suddenly without a computer. Please help! Thank you. RegardsYi Xianghttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Pavilion-Dv4-unable-to-boot-after-upgrade-to-Windows-10/td-p/5719092
Hi I burned two ISO files(Memtest86+ & latest DBAN 2.2.8 CD bootable ISO software ) onto two different blank CD-Rs on two different ocassions by using the in-built Windows burner in my system, also used Cyberlink ISO file burner/Mount as Virtual drive.Tried booting from CD by following Step 1 to 4 given in this MS link . After that clicked Select a USB Device, then boot from Internal DVD/CD Drive, then OK. It took some time to process & after that I got this screen: When I entered BIOS Setup clicking F10 and there on Boot Device options, I got this screen: I'm not able to understand why I can't boot from any CD. Could anyone please help me out. Thanks very much in advance Visruth
Hi Visruth, Thanks a lot for your kind response! My laptop shipped with FreeDOS, and in the beginning even I had this issue, but for me it turned out that the USB was not bootable. For me the best software to make a bootable disk is - http://rufus.akeo.ie/ Its free and open source, and its really light. Have you tried booting via the DVD on other PCs. Because if other DVD/CD are working on your laptop, there might be an issue with the DVD that you are using. Have a great day ahead! Desktop starts - fan spins and lights are on but nothing displays on the monitor and after a while the machine just reboots itself. Function keys do not work and I cannot enter bios. Tried resetting the bios by removing the battery - failedTried rebooting from CD - failedTried rebooting from flash drive - failed Tried removing memory and installing one by one - failedTired resetting removing all unessential devices and holding down power button - failed Any ideas on what the problem is? BTW this all happened when it was upgraded to windows 10
Connect a different USB keyboard to one of the PC usb 2.0 ports at the rear of the PC instead of the current keyboard. Disconnect the hard disk from the sata port and then press the power button. What happens? The issue you are having could have been just coincidental to the time that you happened to upgrade to Windows 10. Your PC is a 2012 model and your Pegatron motherboard may have just ceased to function. Unfortunately, It does happen.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/hp-pavilion-h9-1210t-does-not-boot-fan-spins-and-lights-come/td-p/5648528
I can not boot the the system in to safe mode. Esc, F1, F2, F8 all boot normal . Control Panel -> Admin Tools-> Ssyetm Configuration will not let me se Safe Mode! Any ideas? Thasnk in advance, Paul
Getting into Safe Mode sometimes is tricky. Depending on the Windows version, sometimes it won't show you a chance before it is too late. What I tell people - as soon as the computer starts to start, start tapping F8. Do not hold or only tap once but tapping about every 1/2 second on F8 until Windows gives you a choice to pick safe mode, normal start, previous good configuration ETC. Then pick just safe mode by scrolling thru the coices until that is highlighted. The hit enter. If you get the Windows is starting screen, it is too late. You missed the chance. Plan on starting over.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Cant-Boot-Hp-Pavilion-Desktop-in-Safe-Mode/td-p/4514828

Hi. I have only had this computer for a week. The computer did a reconfiguration and after taking over an hour to restart, I restarted it manually and I get the message below: Checking media presenceMedia present...Start PXE over IPv6 Error: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed I have turned my computer off/on several times and I still get this message. Can someone please help! I am extremely aggitated with this and about to bring it back and get my money back!
SherialT Welcome. Sounds like you have a very frustrating problem. Seems like the computer is trying to boot from an outside source. First thing you should try is to shutdown your computer.Press and hold the "Windows" key and the "B" key, and then press and hold the Power button. After 1-3 seconds, release the buttons. Your computer should beep several times and then start a BIOS Update. Let your computer go through the process of updating (just a few minutes) and your computer should start up. If this doesn't solve your problem, come on back. I have a couple more ideas if this doesn't work. Jendyruth
