Satellite Pro 2100 - RAM Upgrade - Memory Upgrade

Q: Satellite Pro 2100 - RAM Upgrade - Memory Upgrade

Hello together !

For your information:

Did a memory upgrade today at 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1,9 GH, 256 MB DDR-RAM originally), both up to 1 GB, all fine and not problems.

Just wanted to end rumours about "only 512 MB all together" or even less.

If searching for it, remember to think of the specifications:

DDR-266 (PC2100)
200 PIN
CL 2.5

concerning RAM frequency, building form etc.

P.S.: Don`t think a discussion is necessary, thread could therefore be closed...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

According the notebook specification Satellite Pro has two memory slots and can be upgraded up to 1 GB. It is very useful to have your confirmation about RAM upgrade for this old but still good notebook model.

Have a nice day.

A:Re: Satellite Pro 2100: RAM upgrade issue from 512mb to 1GB

The notebook supports max 1GB RAM.
This means you can use max 2 x 512MB modules; 512MB module in each slot.

I assume 1GB RAM is not supported and therefore you cannot boot up the unit properly!

Go back to 2 x 512MB

I have a Satellite Pro R50-B-12u with 4Gb of RAM.
I have purchased an additional 4Gb RAM stick but cannot see how you fit it.

My last Satellite Pro had a memory flap on the back but all I can see on the back is about 20 screws but no flap!

Can somebody please help me or point me in the right direction?

Thanks in anticipation.

A:Satellite Pro R50-B-12U and memory upgrade

The Satellite R50 does not contain separate memory bay.
The memory modules and slots are hidden under the bottom cover.

In order to get access to the modules, the bottom cover has to be removed.
But I would not recommend doing this because this would cancel the warranty!!!

I guess your warranty is still valid and in such case only authorized technician should perform such upgrade to keep the warranty valid.

I understand that part of the system memory can be used to enhance performance. (up to 4gb?)
If this is true......
1. How do I do this?
2. Do I need to increase the basic 6gb that came with the machine?

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice :).

A:Satellite Pro C70-A - memory upgrade

You can enhance performance of your notebook with memory upgrade. I don't know which notebook model do you have exactly and cannot check specification.
Please post full model name.

I presume you will be able to increase memory up to 8GB anyway.

Are you satisfied with notebook?s performance?

on NB10t-A-102 I want to change the memory and increase in 8GB or 16GB
Can we make this change?

A:Memory upgrade on Satellite NB10t-A-102

According notebook specification RAM can be upgraded up to 4GB and obviously with 4GB RAM inside it is already on the maximum.

Unfortunately on this forum we don't have much info about this new machine but in the past we have discussed about older models with maximum 1GB RAM but at the end it was possible to upgrade it.

If nobody can help you with this I recommend you to try upgrade with 8GB RAM and check how it works. RAM part number that you should test is PA5104U-1M8G.

If possible send some feedback.

My Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 is 4 years old with 512 RAM (2 x 256 PC2700 DDR SDRAM 166 MHz). I would like to upgrade my RAM to the highest possible capacity. How much is this? (BIOS version upgraded from 1.50 to 1.70, Windows XP Pro SP 3).
I would be glad not only to get the answer to my question but also to learn where I could have found out the answer myself.

Thanks and regards

Dear all,

i am trying to upgrade my M40-142 (win XP) with 2x1GB memory modules. the initial memory is a single 512Mb unit. when i remove it and replace with the 2 new modules the system is not booting.
if i leave the original memory in the slot and add only a single 1Gb module the system is booting and the total ram is 1.5Gb.
if i use a single module of the new memories, the system is not booting again.

i tried to upgrade the bios to the latest version but when i run the .exe there is an error message and i am not able to run it.

looking at the datasheet the motherboard should support the 2x1Gb memory upgrade.

thanks for your help

A:Memory upgrade probelm on Satellite M40-142

It must be compatibility problem. You are right and your machine can be upgraded up to 2GB RAM. Compatible 1G RAM module has part number PA3313U-2M1G (PC2700-1024MB).
I don't know which brand have you bought but many people have reported about same problems with RAM upgrade.

If possible obtain Ram modules with posted part number. It will works 100%.

I upgraded my Satellite to 4GB but I was wondering if I could take it higher? The web site says 4GB max, but in the upgrade section it offers an 8GB upgrade. I thought it may have been limited to 4GB by the chip set so I don't want to buy the memory if it won't work. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

A:Memory upgrade on Satellite T230-113

I have checked specification for your mobile unit and it should have 4 GB inside.
Anyway it can be upgraded up to 8 GB so maybe you should buy one module with 4 GB and put one old module as second RAM. One day you can put second 4GB RAM and use maximum possible RAM with your Satellite T230-113.

I have just tried to add 516MB in my memory expansion slot, but the additional memory has not been recognised. The notebook boots up fine, but only shows 465MB available.

I have tried switching the original and new memory cards, and either card in either slot ( 0 or 1) on their own works as a 516(which proved both cards and both slots are working) but together they still show as only one in use.

Has anyone any ideas on what the problem might be, and how to get it to use them together?

A:Satellite M50 Memory upgrade problems

The 465MB is normal, because of the shared video memory. If I understand you correctly, both modules plugged in, only show 512MB?
Maybe you should perform a BIOS update. Could help. You can find an update at the emea support&download page.

Do both modules meet the needed specifications? They should be PC2700 DDR-RAM.

Hello there,

I have to expand the memory of a Satellite Pro C70-B-11T by adding 1 module 8GB.
The datasheet says that the laptop can go up to 16GB.

I can not find the door to open for accessing to the memory slots.
Should I remove the entire rear panel?
Do you have a procedure?

Thank you for your help.

A:Satellite Pro C70-B-11T - need help in order to upgrade memory

RAM upgrade on this Satellite Pro is a bit complicated and I think it should not be done by notebook owner.
Problem is that you will have full access to memory slots if upper notebook cover is completely removed and it should be done by Toshiba service only. In case that you do it on your own you can lose valid warranty.

Try to contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help. They can do this for you and I think it cannot be so expensive.

It is originally offered with 16MB RAM and can be upgraded up to 144MB but I don't know which modules can be used.

It is very interesting what you can do but I really don't know what you can do with this old piece of hardware designed for old Win95.

I mean it is nice if it still works but I cannot imagine that you can do anything useful with it. Am I wrong about that?

You have to use compatible modules!
You have to use the DDR2 667MHz (PC2-5300) 200-PIN SODIMM

If you already use such modules then I?m afraid a memory malfunctions.

A:Re: Satellite Pro A300-2C4 'Windows 7 Professional Upgrade DVD' to upgrade

Upgrading from WinXP to Win7 is not supported by Toshiba nor by Microsoft.
The only possible way to upgrade (go from 1 installation with some data to Win7 and keeping your settings and data) is from WinVista SP1 or later.

So regardless of how You look at it, You need to get XP out and either begin with WinVista factory installation + any 1 million updates that were released after this, OR
you can boot up from the Win7 media directly and install clean.
The second method saves a lot of time BUT have some negative side effects - namely not all drivers and utilities will be available in the final system if installed clean.
Some packages from WinVista works well in Win7 and are for that reason expected to be in the system during the update.
Hence, if You do a clean install, they will be missing.

However, they might not cause any trouble for You if they are not there, but that is not known until You're there and can see what You are missing.
Basic functionality should be expected though (WLAN, LAN, Sound, on)

So, think about what You want to do and get busy with either recovering your unit with the WinVista set, updating, and then running the Toshiba Upgrade DVD, Win 7 upgrade and finally the Toshiba upgrade DVD again, OR just install Win7 clean + adding as much as possible / needed from the Toshiba Upgrade DVD.

Good luck!

Does anyone have a compatabilty list for upgrading a vostro 260 i3- 2100 processor to an i-5 processor.  I know I'll need to upgrade Power Supply.

A:vostro 260 i3- 2100 processor upgrade

Hi rmh0597,
Dell has tested the following i5 processors with Vostro 260:

i5-2400,3.1,4C,Sandy Bridge,D2
i5-2300,2.8,4C,Sandy Bridge

Upgrading the power supply is not required as the i5 processor should work with standard power supply shipped with the system.
Dell does not recommend or offer processor upgrade but it is at your discretion in case you really wish to go ahead with it. Warranty per say, issues arising due to the upgrade will not be covered under warranty, however we will continue providing support for other issues and parts.
Hope this helps. Please reply if you have  any questions.

I want to replace CPU in this notebook. I'm confused because i can't find any informations which CPUs are supported by BIOS.
I tried: T5500 (SL9U4), T5600 (SL9SG), T7200 (SL9SL), T7300 (SLA3P), T2600 (SL8VN), T2400 (SL8VQ). After installing one of these processors, system didn't boot up.
Boot fail with Core 2 Duo isn't suprise. Merom has another pinout than Yonah. :)
Why Jonah didn't start up ?
Jonah Core Duos has the same pinout, power requirements like Celeron Yonahs.
Does BIOS have any "CPU lock" to restrict CPU replacement by user ?
Does anyone know why Jonah Core Duo can't work?

A:Satellite L30-134: CPU Upgrade

Hi there,

the problem is that, no matter what CPU you install which is listed in your posting, it won?t work. The machine you own has an ATI RC410 chipset which can only handle the following CPU?s:

Pentium M
Celeron M (dothan)

Which means that this chipset can only handle CPU?s with dothan core and earlier (P4, P4 Xtreme, etc.)

And my personal opinion regarding a CPU exchange in a notebook:

If you got the appropriate tools to update the BIOS/DMI/microprocessor-code on the machine (where the tools are only available for Tosh techies) then you must know which maximum TDP ( the machines cooling system can handle.
And thats also an information which is only available for Tosh techies.

Believe me, I tried several times to upgrade some of my mobile machines and every time it was linked with many problems so I can disadvise everyone from my own experience to upgrade the CPU.

Greets and nice week

Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on a Satellite Pro M50 to say an Intel Pentium M 755 SL7EM Socket 479 (mPGA479M) or is the BIOS locked to only accept Celeron M 350J/360J/370/380??

A:CPU upgrade on Satellite Pro M50?

You should firstly check the chipset compatibility.
Iin case the chipset would support the new CPU, you have good chances to get the notebook running properly.

I think the old M50 series supported Intel 915PM/915GM/910GML chipset.
So theoretically the
- Intel Pentium-M Dothan (725A/730/740/750/760/770) 1.6GHz, 1.73GHz, 1.86GHz, 2.0GHz, 2.13GHz
- Intel Celeron-M Dothan (350J/360J/370) 1.3GHz, 1.4GHz, and 1.5GHz
should be compatible.

But you have to know that notebook manufacturers don?t support the CPU upgrades.
So nobody can say what device is supported by BIOS.

Also the Pentium CPU would create and produce more warmness and this can affect the notebook functionality. In worst case the system and RAM would crashes due to higher temp.

I have an A10 PSA15E -EN running a celeron 2.0 chip. Anybody know if it is possible to upgrade the cPU and if so what chips it would take? Thanks in advance.

A:CPU Upgrade on Satellite Pro A10

In most cases the CPU upgrade is not possible due to BIOS and chipset restrictions.
But sometimes it?s possible to use another CPU which is supported by chipset.
I have no idea what chipset your notebook supports but you can check it in devices manager or you could install some hardware diagnostic software like Everest Home Edit or SANDRA Sisoft.

Then you could check the chipset properties on Intel ARK page to get a list of compatible CPUs.

However, the Satellite Pro A10 is very old and I doubt its worth to upgrade the CPU because you will not notice big performance boost.

Theoretically it?s possible to exchange the CPU on a notebook but nobody will be able to say if the notebook runs properly with the new CPU or not.

You should not forget that the BIOS and mainboard is designed for the preinstalled CPU and it?s not tested with another CPU. Normally a newer or faster CPU produces more heat and I don?t know if the cooling assembly on your notebook is enough for this.

If you have still warranty on your notebook you will lose it because Toshiba doesn?t support CPU upgrading:

This is really old machine so any kind of info about OS or HDD upgrade can be very useful.
So, your old machine can be upgraded up to 2GB of RAM and compatible RAM modules that you can use are as follow:
DDR2-400/533 512MB (PA3412U-1M51)
DDR2-400/533 1GB (PA3411U-1M1G)

If possible post a bit about OS. I mean have you found some drivers and do you use some Toshiba specific tools and utilities.

Bye and good luck

Hello everybody,

I am new in this European forum. And It is my first post.

I would like to upgrade Ram memory of my PC (model: Satellite C50-B-14F PSCLUE).

There is currently 1 module of 4Go. I am thinking maybe to replace this by 2 new 8 Go sticks (for a total of 16 Go).

I would like to find a Toshiba article, but I think, there is no line offer for the Ram module, because, when I click on the link (?where to buy? to search a dealer), I see this message : IM Communication Error error code = 200

So I would like to know what you do in this case. Do you take another brand?

Thank you in advance,

P.S . I did not understand how to insert a picture. Could you help me?

I found this Little Beauty and wonder, how easy it's to upgrade SSD and RAM by myself.

Thanks in advance

A:SSD / RAM upgrade on Satellite Pro A30-C-10R

i'm not sure how many DIMM slots there are in that laptop, but by the look of it, there's only 1. So you could get a single 8GB stick of RAM, would only run in single channel mode, so 64-bits of bandwidth. Bear in mind that it uses DDR3L, so it's gonna be 1.35V, getting 1.5V RAM won't work. Have a look at HyperX Impact. 1600MHz will be fine.

SSD upgrade? should be easy.
Have a look for a HyperX Savage upgrade kit. It comes with a 2.5" SSD, drive caddy (for the old HDD) and some cloning software.

Bear in mind, that whilst a skylake based laptop, it's an i3 U class, so it will not have much computing power at all. the 15W TDP says it all. You can run a CPU as fast as you like, but the power draw doesn't lie. My i5-3230m runs at 35W and 2.6 GHz. There's a big jump from that to 15W and 2.1 GHz

Hi buddy,

Just a short question: You know that CPU upgrade is not supported by Toshiba?
That means with other words nobody can say if another CPU works properly and if you can use the higher speed.

I assume if you can?t use the higher speed, the CPU is not supported and that?s a limitation of mainboard/BIOS.

Am I missing some kind of hardware? If so, please tell me what I need and where I can buy it. I would prefer to buy it today, so if any name-brand places sell it, like Best Buy or Wal-mart, please let me know! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there

I possess a Satellite Pro A10 with 512 MB DDR PC2100 (266) CL2.5 and wish to upgrade to 1024 MB with two 512 MB sticks. The Crucial websites memory scanner says I can do this and put PC2700 (333) in too.

I bought the package and installed them, it worked for a day or so then wouldn't boot up, no Toshiba BIOS LOGO no DVD tray release either. When I put the old RAM back in, things were ok. .

So my question really is:

Is the A10 capable of using PC2700 RAM as Crucial says it is or are they wrong.
Manuals don't give the answer.

Thanks in advance for any information on this problem.

A:Satellite Pro A10 - RAM upgrade

I?ve checked notebook specification and there is written that you can upgrade your notebook up to 1GB of RAM and compatible RAM module for upgrade is PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51). Check please this part number. This module is 100% compatible and you can use it with old one.

Maybe it sounds stupid now but Crucial is not the best option. Many people have claimed about similar problems using modules from Crucial.

Hello, I'm having a quite serious problem on a (new) satellite S50-B-15Q,

After upgrade to Windows 10 and re-installing Windows (including all the necessary drivers) the Amd Radeon R7 m260 graphic card isn't showing up,
I tried to install the amd drivers found on the Toshiba website first, then some directly from amd. I had a hard time having the driver installing (kept getting the "instal package failure" error) but even now that they are "installing", the amd radeon doesn't display in the device manager (and doesn't work at all either) !

All I get in display adapters is the integrated gpu (intel(R) HD Graphics 5500), I tried running a program to use graphic ressources to see if it would "switch" to amd but it does not (that was a piece of advice found on a forum)

I already spent a lot of time on this problem, and would really appreciate help

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L450D-12X and was wondering what 'Dual Core' processors support this laptop for a CPU upgrade?

Having a read of other peoples threads, it is possible for the laptop to have an upgrade however I am not sure what ones actually support it. The most common dual core would be the 'Turion' dual core however there are many processors that go under the name 'Turion'

I was also wondering if all Toshiba L450Ds have the same motherboard etc.. as they contain the same housing and graphics card (mostly)

Many Thanks

I presume you have already read that Toshiba doesn?t support CPU upgrade and some public document about compatible CPUs doesn?t exist.

HDD upgrade or exchange can be done but it should be done by authorized personal only.

Don't forget to create recovery media (USB). After HDD exchange you can use this media to install original recovery image.

Hi manelfera,

The notebook has Intel GM45 chipset and this chipset supports up to 8GB memory. That means you can install 4GB module in both memory slots. As you already wrote DDR2 800MHz is the correct specification.

Theoretically every module with this specification will work but I would recommend buying high quality modules from Kingston for example. I have good experience with this brand :)

BIOS update is not necessary for RAM upgrade so you can keep the current version.

A:Satellite Pro L630-14L - CPU upgrade possible?

Regarding the question about CPU upgrade:
This question has been asked many times here in the forum. I recommend you to read other threads about the CPU upgrade.

Generally the case is simple: notebook manufacturers don?t support such upgrade for own products. The CPU is tricky because the new CPU has to be supported by two essential parts: chipset and BIOS.

The notebook supports Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset.
So, you have to find out, what CPU would be supported by such chipset.
But as I said above: the BIOS support is also important and finally everything depends on the BIOS if your new CPU would work or not.

Hi there, I'm trying to upgrade the ram in a Satellite Pro M50, I bought a stick from crucial but although it fitted in the slot (and was deemed the correct product) the machine didn't post with it, I have bought another stick (different brand) and installed this but get the same problem. On closer inspection I noticed that the notch in the existing 256mb stick is slightly (couple of mm) out compared with the new stick and of course although they fit in the slot the actual pins on the stick don't line up correctly.

Is this a known issue? Do I have to buy a specific brand of RAM in order to upgrade the system? Crucial guarantee their RAM to work, very unusual that it didn't work out that way for this tosh system.

A:CPU upgrade on Satellite Pro C660-219

>I need someone to answer for question: may I fit to this laptop any i5 or i7 without trouble with compability with motherboard?
You have to know that CPUs upgrades are not supported by any notebook manufacturer. This means that nobody can say if an CPU would be fully compatible and would not cause any troubles. Such upgrades are own risk.

You could read this Toshiba statement regarding upgrades.
[Is it possible to upgrade the CPU or GPU of a Toshiba Notebook?|]

The point is that even the chipset which is part of the motherboard would support the new CPU, the BIOS could not be fully compatible and the combination of BIOS and new CPU could cause new troubles.

The unit seems to support the INTEL HM55 chipset and from my knowledge the Toshiba Satellite C660/C665/Pro C660 Series is based on a Dual Core/Quad Core Processor ( *Intel Arrandale* processors)

So if you want to search for a compatible CPU, you should check the CPUs belonging to the Intel Arrandale processors family.

A:Re: HDD upgrade on Satellite R630-14R

According notebook specification your notebook was delivered with preinstalled Win7. I hope you have created recovery discs before you have installed own Win8.1 version. This recovery discs you can use to install original recovery image whenever you want and it can be old on new HDD.

Ok now you have own OS. Generally speaking HDD exchange or upgrade is supported and you can do it alone. Toshiba has nothing to do with your decision to use Win8.1. you can do it and install on your machine but, as you can see, you must install all drivers, tools and utilities one by one and it is a bit ?complicated?.

Before you exchange HDD you must back-up all your important data. It can be done on some external HDD.
In my opinion you have two possibilities to have Win8.1 on new HDD:
1/ Clean Windows installation
2/ You can create recovery image of your Win8.1 version using some third part software like Acronis true image and use such recovery media to install own Win version.

What do you think about all this?

I have a notebook (Satellite Pro U200 PLUA1E-00X007HU bios v3.70 win7 32bit), what I want to upgrade with a Samsung Series 830 64Gb SSD. I read that ssd drive need AHCI mode. My notebook supports AHCI mode? What can I change in bios before install the new storage?

Thanks for help!

A:SSD upgrade on Satellite Pro U200

I see you are confused?
First of all you have to know that the notebook supports SATA controller.
This means that you have to use SATA HDDs or SATA SSD.

Secondly: AHCI means SATA? some BIOS supports an SATA mode and you can switch between compatible (IDE)mode and AHCI mode (SATA) mode.

If such switch is not available in BIOS then the mode is set always to AHCI.

However, back to SSD drive question:
I don?t really see any problems using an SSD drive.
It should functions since the SATA controller should support it

I am trying to help out a friend in upgrading his memory on a Toshiba Satellite 2545csd. Unfortunantly he does not have the owners manual and we are unable to determine where the chip goes. I am hesitant in just starting to dismantle the unit to try to find where it goes. Any help would be appriciated.

PS... the toshiba web site was no help at all.....

A:Toshiba Satellite upgrade

A lot of toshiba's and other laptops have an easy access to the RAM slots. This is usually on the bottom of the laptop which has one or two screws to hold in a small plastic cover. The slot will only fit a stick of RAM, nothing else. If not on the bottom it may be under the keyboard which would have to be removed, and if not there then the laptop may need to be disasembled for the upgrade. I might try suggesting trying to find a manual on the internet to assist in this.

If you have yet to order the RAM I strongly recommend using a site such as where you can put in the make/model and get the correct RAM as this is very important in a laptop. The laptop will most likely take a 144pin SO-DIMM but make sure to get the right one.

erik O,

A:Can I Upgrade the SSD on my Satellite Z series ?

Since the SSD is not user accessible you may void the warranty if you open the notebook.

The SSD can be upgraded but you need a 1.8" mSATA SSD. A standard 2.5" SATA SSD won't fit.

I purchased one Satellite P50-B-11L that has 8GB of RAM memory.
I would like to add additional 8GB. I saw that the form currently mounted in black slot is a DDR3L (then operating at 1.35V correct?)
The problem is that the free slot (white) has recorded on the writing 1.5V
I must therefore buy a DDR3 (whitout "L" then 1.5V) for the white slot or not?

Thank for help,

A:16GB RAM upgrade Satellite P50-B-11L

No one has ever asked this question?
Anyway, I put a DDR3L same as the original slot white my own risk. It works very well, fast and the BIOS detects 16GB. Perhaps the memory operates at 1.5V without problems because it has a tolerance, or the motherboard detects the memory DDR3L and lowers the voltage to 1.3V. I do not know!

I have found out how easy it is to remove the current DVD Writer on my Satellite S70-A (10 seconds) so no problems there.

I see that there is a small lug at the back of the writer allowing the writer to be locked in place by the small bolt that holds the HDD/RAM cover in place

Can I buy a Blu Ray player which has this lug already fitted or I can I fit the lug afterwards?

Can anyone suggest a suitable Blu Ray player to buy as a direct replacement.

A:Question about Blu-ray upgrade on Satellite S70-A

Most of S70-A notebooks are offered with DVD-multi optical disc drives. Just few of them are offered with 9.5MM BD-ROM. Unfortunately I don't know which model of BD-ROM is this exactly.
It is not easy to find any information which model can be used on your machine.

I’m not 100% sure but it could be UJ162 UJ-162.

Let’s see if someone else can find exact info about that.

Anyway, in worst case you can order it and test it. if there is some problem simply send it back.

I bought my laptop toshiba P50B11L with win8.1 pre Pro installed and I updated to win 10.

After having done so now confirm that my version of win10 is Home.

According to Microsoft the update would maintain the same version, but left to have the Pro version for a home version.

I'm not happy with this decision microsoft, someone can help me?

Dear Fourm members
In regard to the above machine : please can anyone advise :- how many memory slots does it have.
I think it is two but am not sure.
Also what max size memory module can we have in this laptop please.
If it is 2 @ 1gb per module, then we would have a total of 2gb.

Is the hard drive on this machine a standard laptop hard drive. Can I take the small 20gb one out and replace it with a larger one. eg 120 gb etc

Thank you so much for your help.

A:Satellite Pro A10 - need some info about RAM upgrade

On satellite Pro A10 two memory slots are available. Notebook can handle with 1 GB RAM and you can use two compatible PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51) modules.

This old machine uses 2,5? HDD with old IDE connector. I found some info that it was delivered with 20GB, 30GB and 40GB HDDs. I think you can upgrade it with HDD up to 100 GB but just be sure it has the same HDD connector.

If you have more questions you are welcome.
For more info post exact model number please.

I've been having this laptop for long time and i decided to power it up a bit and buy new pair of RAM memorry. I checked the motherboard model and swa it requires DD3L 800 or 1066 Hz ram memmory up to 8 gb. Therefore i bought 1066 hz 2x4 GB DD3 memmory asumming it is compatible. However i noticed it doesnt work on windows 64 bit while it works on windows 10 32 bit operating system... The 64x os just wont boot and goes into boot loop.

Is it possible that the memory isnt compatible? Can you suggest me some solutions?

I have tried many ways to upgrade, many fixes but I just cannot upgrade my Toshiba Satellite CL10-B-101 to Windows 10.

I've tried using the regular Windows Update interface, WindowsUpdateDiagnostic, MediaCreationToolx64, lots of other step by step fixes described by Microsoft staff, installing to USB (as the SSD hard disk is only 21GB) etc.

Every time I ended up with this or that Windows error code.

Is it at all possible to upgrade Toshiba Sattelite CL10-B-101 to Windows 10? Anyone successful?

Upgrade includes 2 x 4GB DDR3 1066Mhz a SSD 500GB and changing out the current i3 330M with an i5 580M (tdp on both is 35W)

The only problem im walking against is Bios support for the i5 580M
Did Toshiba make 1 bios version for ALL L500 series laptops?
ifso can any one tell me if there is a toshiba l500 series laptop with a i5 580m cpu?

Thanks in advanced?

not sure about the bios, but you might wanna make sure that the i3 die is the same as the i5 die (in shape and size). It should be because mobile i3/5/7's are basically all the same 2c4t with different clocks and cache amounts

My ODD drive under My Computer is gone.

I already have the WIN10 drivers downloaded , but this can not be installed. I have uninstalled the old driver shut down the PC and try to reinstall.

Under BIOS recognize the drive and device information is the unit with a triangle and an exclamation mark.
I have a BOOT DVD with Windows 7 and a USB_Stick. But both can not be bootable.

Can somebodies help or please give me a hint? Maybe I'm doing something wrong also. I think it's just a shame that you can download the Windows 10 driver for Toshiba, but then you can install the driver or not even work.

Many thanks for the support.

Hi there,

trying to do my first laptop BIOS upgrade on my M10 running bios 1.40. dated 2003.
I have downloaded version 1.50 windows based update and when extract the zip file and it starts to run I get "Toshiba common modules is not installed".

So back to the driver downloads and download Common Modules cmod-en20071113104042 and install. Ran the BIOS update again and I get the same Common Modules not installed.
Can anybody shed any light on my problems?

The machine is running a clean install of XP professional Service pack 3 and has BIOS version 1.40 and 512MB RAM.
I want to upgrade the RAM and have read on Toshiba that with bios update the M10 supports 2GB of RAM.
At the minute when I go to and scan the system I am told max support is 1 gig.

Any Answers or help would be gratefully received.

A:Satellite M10 and BIOS Upgrade

At first I must say that BIOS update will not change anything with RAM support. It depends on hardware platform and not on BIOS update. So it will not help at all. Your notebook can handle with 2 GB RAM max. End of the story.

Satellite Pro M10 is pretty old notebook model and I am 100% sure BIOS update, as a file, is OK but at this time there was no SP3 and I can imagine there is the problem.
So if you are satisfied how your notebook works leave it and enjoy this oldie. Do not need BIOS update at all.

I have a 2100.
I've started using it again after not using it for a few months.

I've noticed when it's sat on my knee if feels very warm and the fan comes on an awful lot.
The problem is I can't remember if it always was like this or if it's a recent thing.

Does anyone know if this is normal behavoir or is it signs that the computer may be running a little on the hot side?

A:Satellite Pro 2100 gets hot when using on knee

I don?t wonder that the temperature would increases while using the notebook on knees.
The point is that the cooling modules are placed at the bottom of the notebook and you would clog up the cooling ventilators using the notebook on knees?
I recommend using the notebook on desk and to leave enough free space around the unit.
Last but not least you should check if the ventilators are not clogged by dust and debris.
In most cases the dust prevents the cooling ventilators from properly working and this leads to a higher temperature.

Clean the cooling modules using a compressed air spray? you can buy it from different computer dealers or online?.
