Q: Thinkpad Yoga 20C0S0AX00 screen rotation doesn't w...

Dear Forum, Ever since I installed Windows 10 the automatic screen rotation doesn't work. I have the impression that Windows doesn't even know that my Thinkpad has the corresponding sensors. In the device manager, there is no "Sensor" section, I have no "Rotation lock" button in the quick settings (not greyed out, it's not even there), and the physical rotation lock button does nothing. I checked that the services "Sensor Data Service", "Sensor Monitoring Service" and "Sensor Service" are running and automatically started.I read here on the forum, that there should be some "HID sensors V2" visible in the Device manager. This doesn't show up, so I have no idea how to reinstall drivers. Any suggestions how to teach Windows that it has more hardware than it thinks it has?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome to the forums! I've moved your question from the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga forums over to here: the ThinkPad Yoga forum.

In answer to your question, I would suggest you try reinstalling the Intel chipset drivers for your ThinkPad Yoga from the support site:

Hi, I recently purchased X1 yoga 2016. At first, the screen rotation function worked perfectly. Recently, when I rotate my screen and enter tablet mode, the screen won't flip at all. I would like to work in the portrait mode but my screen didn't rotate at all. I make sure that the rotation lock is off. I appreciate all comments on this issue. Thank you so much.

For some reason, flipping the keyboard into the tablet position and activating tablet mode, as soon as I press any key on the keyboard, the tablet mode turns off.  I've hada  Yoga 2 Pro before, and that laptop had a Lenovo Transitions app, which always functioned properly, reacting to the various keyboard orientation right away.  With Yoga 710, there's a delay before the tablet mode activates, and now also the laptop doesn't stick with the tablet mode / keyboard stays activated when rotated backwards. Any ideas?

Is anyone else having issues with the screen not rotating in tablet and tent modes? Upon restarting the computer the rotation works perfectly, but if I've had the computer on for a while in laptop mode and want to switch to tablet mode the rotation no longer works. I have the screen lock button toggled to off.

Dear jk47

Welcome to Lenovo forums

Please try the screen rotation lock like indicated in the below image while on the tablet mode if it did not work try pressing it again and inform us what notification you get on the screen when you press it

So I don't use my thinkpad usualy in tablet mode, but today i did and when I tried to turn the laptop the screen of course remained still, so I started digging. There are a lot of solutions on the web for this, but none helped me so far, the interesting thing is that there is no option to enable or disable the auto-rotation in the settings or the action center. Updated all the drivers, also the hardware seems to work properly. I hope somebody encountered and solved this issue and can help me as well.Cheers, Dan.??

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14, which has a keyboard backlight that can be turned on and off by pressing Fn+Space. Recently I've found that if I turn it off, it sometimes stays on. In this state it will flicker when the computer is tapped or bumped, or just moved around, and when placed at certain angles it will stay off. If I turn it on, it stays on consistently ? it's only when it's set to off that it doesn't work right. It seems like there must be a loose connection in there or something. Does this sound like something that can be easily fixed?

Dear all,

I just received my new Thinkpad X1 Yoga, brand new, with a dock OneLink+

Both are running fine. But it is impossible to start the PC when the dock is connected: The screen freeze at the red square LENOVO display from the Bios, windows 10 pro doesn't start.

I have to disconnect the dock, et relaunch the PC to enable a normal start. After the start, I can reconnect the dock.

I updated all drivers, flashed the bios, latest FW of the dock and even resetted Windows, but without success.

Lenovo support wants to change the laptop (!), it's brand new!

I thought maybe one of the topgun member of this community might have a better idea.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, I just received my Yoga and it looks and feels great. However, there seems to be some sort of foil over the screen, that doesn't quite cover the screen edge to edge. It stops around maybe 0.5mm from the end of the glass panel. It also appears to give the display some sorty of milky grey collor when turned off. I was wondering if this is part of the digitizer, a protective or anti-glare foil, or something else entirely? I first thought it was the kind of screen protector you see on phones when you first buy them, but there's no latch to take it of, and it seems to be glued to the display rather well. Can anyone enlighten me?

A:ThinkPad Yoga screen foil?

it is a layer of pre-applied screen protector. It's for anti-glare and protective purpose. It's possible to remove it but requires patience and effort as its strongly glued to the screen during production. From what I understood any fault related with the removal of the screen protector is not covered by the warranty.

I have ben dealing with problems with this touch screen since I got the laptop.  It has been continuously ghosting, while it got better after the June update, it still ghosts without touches, until you start using the touch screen.  When using the touch screen it starts drawing gray lines in between the point im touching and the point its ghosting to (the lines arent always direct). I recently wiped my the drive, reimaged to a backup from april and tried reupdating it.  When I got to the touch screen drivers, I got through the initial setup and told it to open the update when finished but the machine froze.  Now when I try to reinstall, I get to the finish page on the update tools install, have it open the updater, but the program immediately closes.Any help would be much appreciated.

Hallo,Judging by users of Thinkpad P50 and P70 in this forum it seems that screen problems are not that unusual. My own experience is that the screen of my P40 died within a week of the purchasing it. I sent it in for repairs only to receive the message "the repair procedure has stopped due to unavailability of spare parts". That was two weeks ago.Lenovo: if you launch a new model it would be wise to see to it that you have stocked up on spare parts, ESPECIALLY those that are prone to failure, i.e. screens. As of now, I am clueless when I will receive it back, and I desperately need it now (preferably yesterday) for my work. That's why I bought a workstation for PREMIUM MONEY! So, prospective buyers bear this issue in mind if you need a reliable workstation. Aatje

So, My ThinkPad Yoga 14 (20DM) has this issue where randomly, there will be randomly screen presses across the screen. This will usually click some link I didn't want to, so it disrupts my workflow. I don't have a precise  way to replicate it, but it feels like maybe it's related to when the laptop is hot? I  don't know. Anyway, in practice, this effect looks just like an issue that occurred for Yoga 3 14s (see here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-3-14-inch-Touch-Screen-Issues/m-p/214... and https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/SF15-I0024 )UNFORTUNATELY, the fix for that laptop model is designed for LG screen panels. Since the ThinkPad Yoga 14 doesn't have one of these panels, the fix will not run for this laptop. Is there a similar fix for this laptop?

A:Ghost screen touches on ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14

Hi I have a Thinkpad TP 14 - 20DM008UUS  and I didn't experience that issue. Can you share your full model number and which Windows version are you using? Just my thoughts... When you said " randomly screen presses across the screen" do you think it cames from the touchscreen? Did you see some "screen animation" like the circle that Windows produce when you touch the screen, or the cursor moving when your issue happens? Maybe it can give you hints on where is the problem. Do you think it can be the Touchpad that when you move your fingers or when you have your palm over it? Or is happens  when you are typing? Since I'm a driver freak, I always try to stay up to date with the firmware and drivers for the machine. If you want to you can also try to update the drivers with Lenovo System Update first. Regartds

Dear community,

maybe you can help. I just made aquisition of a thinkpad yoga S1 (DXdiag here attached) DxDiag TP-Yoga S1.txt

I am very happy with it, except when I want to use an external display with the mini-HDMI-VGA dongle delivered by Lenovo:

The extended desktop on this external display is quite bad quality. This is happening on different external monitors which are very good when attached to my other computer.

What problem can it be? Graphic card? Dongle? driver?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Elwood

A:Bad display quality on externel screen / Thinkpad Yoga S1

I'd say the dongle is where you want to start. Have Lenovo send you a new one. You've already demonstrated that it's not the monitor, so that leaves items supplied by Lenovo and you'll have a significantly easier time getting them to agree to send you a dongle that probably costs them very little to produce compared to anything else. Plus it's easier for you to test and the most likely scenario to fix your issue. If there were something wrong with the GPU on the unit, you'd expect it to affect the internal display as well as external and do so equally/uniformly. The driver idea is possible, but highly unlikely, but if there's an updated driver and you want to install it while waiting for a new dongle to show up, knock yourself out.

In laptop mode the "rotation lock" option is disabled, which I guess is by design and that's fine. When I flip the screen to stand mode the option is enabled and turned off. I can turn the option on and it works as expected. If I flip the screen back to laptop mode and then back to stand mode, the option is turned off again. How can I keep it turned on? I never use tent mode or portrait mode, so I don't need it and it messes with my window sizes. I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

A:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

Screen was cracked so I replaced the screen. Now touch doesn't work.
There is no "Pen and Touch" and "Tablet PC Settings" in Control Panel. In PC info it says, "No pen or touch input is available for this display."
Touch DOES work on LINUX as I ran it from a usb drive, so it is not a hardware problem.
I have reinstalled Windows.
I have another Yoga 2 Pro and comparing Device Manager in both I see no differences.
How can I get the touch to work again?

A:Why doesn't my Touch work after replacing the screen on my Yoga 2 Pro?

try refreshing your PC maybe the driver is not working properly
If the touchscreen does show up on the device manager try updating the driver from there. (it will be listed under HID )
Otherwise To refresh your PC Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Recovery.Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, tap or click Get started.Follow the instructions on the screen.

I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

A:Thinkpad yoga 460 - Thinkpad Pen Pro not charging ...

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

I just bought a Thinkpad Yoga from Best Buy and upon opening, found that the pen pro included does not work. I'm on the most updated version of all the drivers, and the touch screen and multitouch with my hands still work. After taking an multimeter to measure the voltage of the pen, I found that the pen just wasn't charging. I'm a bit hesitant to check the voltage of the charging silo itself but my suspicion is that the pen is dead. Could this be a software problem? Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Should I return to pen and the laptop to bestbuy or just the pen? Or should this issue be brought to Lenovo instead?

A:Thinkpad Yoga 460 (Best Buy) - Thinkpad Pro Pen do...

I don't have a 460, but I do have a 260, which is a smaller, but VERY similar machine.  I had the same problem and I believe it is not the pen.  Before you do anything, you need to unplug the machine and disable the internal battery.  You do that by going into the BIOS and under the config tab, look under power.  There will be an option to disable the battery.  When this is selected, the machine will turn off.  The battery is re-enabled the next time you plug it in.  IF THE BATTERY IS NOT DISCONNECTED, YOU WILL CREATE A SHORT AND BLOW A IRREPLACEABLE FUSE ON THE MOTHERBOARD.  Remove the pen and look inside, where you will see 2 contacts.  My guess is that one or both got pushed back into the housing during manufacturing process.  You can take something fine and sharp like a needle and gently free them so they will pop back out.  Once I popped mine out, the pen charged very quickly and I never had another problem with it.

My hinges are quiet  and smooth, but they are tight and sturdy so that the screen is stable in any orientation.  I'm sorry, but without hearing or feeling yourem there is no way for me to say if yours are "normal", but it is common for a tight hinge to make a little noise when it begins a motion.

Hello all.
I got an Acer Extensa 5220 laptop with Windows 7 RC and integrated graphic card of Intel. The properties of this graphics don't have the screen rotation option and neither does Windows in the Screen Resolution menu.
I tried to reinstall the system (to RC again and to RTM), downloaded programs such as EEErotate, iRotate, PivotPro; used the Ctrl+Alt+(arrows) combination, upgraded the graphic card to the latest drivers and none of these options worked.
I was wondering if this could be enabled through the Windows Registry Editor.
Could you help me please? I'm open for suggestions.

Hello, Klintonix and welcome to the SevenForums.

Background rotation is not found in Screen Resolution, you have to go to Personalization > Desktop Background. Choose images you want to use and set rotation interval.

Hey,

We had a PC at work that had its screen rotated 180 degrees, the staff were unsure how to change it back so I checked the Intel GMA settings and tried to set the rotation back to normal. However it seems that the 'Normal' setting is actually the 180 degree setting. So I then tried using the 180 degree setting to see if it went normal but it stayed at 180 degrees.

Is there a way to change the 'normal' setting back to normal ?
P.s Tried hotkeys ctrl+alt+(left/right/up/down) no luck =(

Cheers,

Marc

A:Screen Rotation Complication

Normally it's a combination of ctrl+alt+[up/down/left/right] on the intel graphics chips. However sometimes you have to be logged in to do it. Were you logged in when you tried the keys?

To disable, go to Display properties -> Advanced and look for anything to do with hotkeys and disable it.

In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards

Hello, I bought a Yoga 260 about 3 month ago (i5-6300, 16gb ram, Windows 10 64 bit);I'm happy with the overall performance, but I'm far from working the announced 7 hours of work on the battery. 3 to 4 would be more representative of may experience, even in "eco" mode.Any idea how I could further check if someting's wrong, draining my battery ? Or would it be possible to extend the battery, or find a bigger capacity that would suit the machine, even at some cost (price, of course, but weight, or "foldability") ?Thanks for your advice.

I just bought myself a thinkpad s3 yoga 14. It did not come with a pen but I would like to know is there any pen that support it. I need to do detailed drawings, this was the main reason I bought it

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

A:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Regards.

Hello,After purchase my Thinkpad Yoga 260 I've tried to connect with a 3g operator through the side slot (wich costed me an extra) just to discover that my laptop doesn't have a WWAN module. Now I need to know if my laptop as the possibility to add one (wich I hope so because it was one of the main reason why i bought it) anyone knows how to? Anyway it's very hard to me to understand why give me the choice to assembly it with the slot if there's no way to use it.

Hi there,I received my Thinkpad P40 Yoga roughly 6 months ago and have not had many issues, however, for the past few weeks I've noticed my fan at times pulses with a very annoying sound.  At times when my fan runs, it sounds like it is pulsing.  Sometimes it's constant, while other times it pulses and I'm not entirely sure why.  I looked around and read a few posts stating that sometimes a BIOS update is required.  I got software from the Lenovo website to automatically update it, but the sound remains.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Got Thinkpad Yoga 260 delivered today. Haven't turned it on yet and was checking it out. Lifting it up and slightly shaking produces rattling noice around the right hand side hinge. It's either hinge itself making that sound or inside the laptop around top right corner. Any ideas on what that might be and how to possibly fix it? Should I just consider sending it back to get fixed instead? Thanks. Edit: I suspect it could actually be a right bottom corner of the LCD right over Yoga 260 imprint where the rattle is. There is nothing I can do to fix that. So much for a brand new laptop...

Looks like it'll need to be replaced instead of repaired. At least I'm not stuck with it. Seems like a QA issue to me.

Does anyone know if Lenovo is going to release the Thinkpad yoga 15 with an active pen or is this a dead dream at this point? My suppliers have no clue and even the touch only thinkpad yoga's are hard to get here in Canada.

I ordered my Yoga 15 with intel realsense camera from Amazon US, and got it shipped to me in Nigeria, you can do same. With respect to the availability of the active pens with yoga 15, only Lenovo can help with that answer.

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. I don't know if the Bluetooth adapter is supposed to appear as a different adapter in the Device Manager or if only the Intel Dual-Band AC 7265 is supposed to show up (under the Advanced tab, Bluetooth is labeled as Active). No bluetooth option is present in the PC and devices options menu... I even reset to factory settings in case it was an issue with a third party program, but even there, same situation. Am I missing something? Please help me to get this feature working!

A:No Bluetooth on Thinkpad yoga 15...

I had the same problem as well, i fixed mine by going to the intel site and downloading the update software. downloading the driver didnt work for me. as soon as i used the update software the bluetooth driver turned on and i was good to gohttps://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/84178/Intel-Wireless-N-7265

Like the title says, I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (the model with a stylus, if that makes a difference). I love it to death, but I can't figure out how I'm supposed to use alt codes for typing accented letters and symbols. There are no num lk/scrn lk keys on my laptop, and I couldn't find anything when I searched for another method. I already know about the character map, by the way. I want to know if there is a way to type alt codes with my keyboard.

Model: Acer R7-371T-52JR Hey everybody, yes, I read several threads about workarounds for not working screen rotation. I used this while ago, when the setting item was greyed out and it worked. Now, after the anniversary update (I guess), there is no such option in settings any more. I can rotate the screen myself manually, but nothing that indicates auto-rotation. I already clean installed W10, all drivers are up to date. What can I do, to have my screen auto rotate again? PS. Auto-brightness is gone, too. Thanks so much!

Hi,
I would like to disable the hotkeys for rotating screen (ctrl+alt+arrows) but I cannot.
In fact, I right clicked on desktop and from Graphic Options I chose Hot Keys and then ticked Disabled and this was fine for a few days.
But recently I see the hotkeys are still working although the Disabled choice is still selected in the mentioned menu. I suspect it might be because of one of the windows updates which is recently installed on my machine since the problem was created just after installing a set of updates.
Any ideas or people having the same problem?

A:Disabling Screen Rotation Hotkeys

I don't have those hotkeys, I would just un-install the software that enables these hotkeys, e.g. Intel Display Options, Nvidia Control Panel, ATI catalist software etc. You can have the driver installed and working without the software and configuration utilities installed!

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my screen rotation. To start with there was no rotation, no button in the notifications area, and no option in display settings. After reading a few similar threads, I updated my BIOS, and checked my drivers. 3 Human interface drivers weren't functioning, so I uninstalled them and checked for changes and they reinstalled apparently correctly. Now I have the rotate icon (and auto rotate option in display settings), however they are both locked, with no option to unlock them. The screen will rotate manually with ctrl+Alt+ arrow keys, but the auto rotate won't work. I suspect it has something to do with a sensor driver, but as I can't find a sensor driver in Device manager I'm not sure.I hope this makes sense, and I hope yu can help, thx

I’m running a Dell Inspiron 640 M laptop with Vista Home Premium installed.

Whilst gaming, had the screen rotate 90 degrees to the right, then a full 180, with the touchpad operating backwards.
Up and down movement became left to right. Left to right became down and up.
The only way to return the display and touchpad to its original settings was to run – system restore.

I believe?? display rotation is only available on Ultimate, whilst using an external monitor.

Is there any way of returning the display to its standard position without running restore.

Many Thanks

The automatic screen rotation when I physically rotate a table PC in space (i.e. g-sensor/accelerometer) is causing me problems with a certain application.  1) the app doesn't handle a rotation well (crash or at least long delay), 2) I don't want it to automatically rotate anyway, which it seems to do whenever I set the tablet down temporarily in such a manner as to have it slightly physically tilt in a direction other than I was holding it.I had thought there was an easy way to do this is Advanced display properties in XP, but can't find anything anywhere in Windows 7.Any help is appreciated.BTW, I having this issue on a new PDC 2009 Acer Aspire 1420P if that's of any interest or bearing (multitouch, Windows 7, tablet, configured by Microsoft and given out to attendees of PDC 2009)
