HP 8000 Elite Small Form Factor Memory upgrade

Q: HP 8000 Elite Small Form Factor Memory upgrade

HelloWe have a dozen HP 8000 Elite SFF with 2GB. We want to upgrade them to 8 GB witn market memory. We tried several manufactures memory and we get always a red flashing led and 4/5 beeps and no POST.We search in the specs of the memory and they are supposed to support DDR3-10600 memory modules with 9-9-9 latency. We tried DDR3-10600 CL9 from G.Skills and Kingstom and no luck.we upgraded the BIOS to the latest version, we placed only one dim in the black socket and no luck. We had an one year old memory dim from g.skill that worked, but the same memory manufactured later didn' work.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, currently I am trying to upgrade the memory on the elite 8000. I have come across the same error however when I try to install the memory, instead of starting it beeps 4 or 5 times and the fan eventually starts to make a lot more noise. I figured that the memory being installed must be incompatible with some feature of the computer, but I cannot find the error. When plugged into a moniter, nothing shows on the display (and im sure it is properly plugged in.) Ive tested with the old memory (4x1gb) and it works fine. Ive upgraded the OS from windows 7 32-bit to windows 10 64-bit. Ive looked into the manuals, and the memory im installing should work. Any help or ideas?memory purchased:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231642

Has anybody put SSDs in these Elite 8000 sff machines yet and if you have what size.  HP chat support say only 64GB but cant give me any reason what the machine cant address more than that when it can address a 1TB Hard drive. Can anybody shed any light on this or tell me they have put in a 500GB SDD and found it works

A:HP 8000 small form factor SSD

Hi: I put a Sandisk 240 GB SSD in my 8000 Elite CMT and it works just fine. Didn't want to spend the extra $$$ for a 480 GB one. I see no reason why you couldn't install a 500 GB SSD. Bear in mind that it will only run at the SATA II (3.0 GB/S) speed. The first PC in that class that can run a SATA III HDD or SSD at the SATA III (6.0 GB/S speed) is the 8200 Elite model series. Also you should be able to install up to a 2 TB mechanical hard drive in the machine.

After upgrating to Win10 I have some random hangs on this machin - in the middle of mailing, writing in Word etc. or the machine just sits idle and freezes up (not seen of the net any longer) - no problems in Win7 before the upgating. I have used HP Support assistent - nothing to report or download. I have System BIOS J01 V02.01 Any ideas what to do ?

A:HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor randomly hangs

#HPExpertDay Hello, When I look at the driver page for your Elite 8200 SFF, I do not see Windows 10 in the operating system list:http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5037932&lang=en&cc=us With that being said, it means that Windows 10 has not been validated for the unit. We can not guarantee function with Windows 10 and Elite 8200 SFF?s, however, the Windows 8 drivers will usually work for it because they both use the same kernel and core software in the OS. Hope this helped a little, thanks!

I'm looking to upgrade my small form factor desktops graphics card, however I've never done this upgrade before. I now need a HDMI port on my desktop to connect it to my new display. A:HP Pro 3120 small form factor graphics card upgrade

Hi: Yes that card should work, but my only concern is that model has a fanless heatsink (which is nice because it is quiet and no fan to conk out on you). My concern is that the heat sink on the model you posted may stick out too far and interfere with other components inside the small form factor chassis. You may want to opt for this model card if you can get it in the UK. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130606&nm_mc=KNC-MSNSearch-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-MS... Note that the heat sink does not stick out much beyond the width of the card, and the low profile brackets are included in the box, so you can swap out the mounts. Also the VGA port can be uplugged from the card if you don't need the VGA port. So, open up the case of your PC and take a look around.  If you don't think the larger heat sink in the model you originally wanted is not going to be an issue, then go for it.

Good Evening,

I have recently purchased an Acer x3300 and as soon as i started to play any recent game came into a problem......

The graphics card is rubbish, its a Geforce 9200 256mb.

After looking into buying a new graphics card i hit a few problems.

The computer is a Small Form Factor pc which means i am quite stuck in what i can upgrade.

My question is this, Is it possible for me to rip out the insides and stick them in a normal mini-tower so i can go out and buy a decent pci-e graphics card? For your information my Motherboard is an Acer WMCP78M

Done various searches and came up with nothing, so your help will be much appreciated.

Cheers,
PeteChesh

Plus what happens down the road if you want to add components ? ?

also a problem im having is that it wont read two sd cards that i have, the card reader works for others but not the new ones i got it wont even recognize it at all?

A:HP small form factor expansions?

Can you find a model number on the motherboard and post that here? Whatever information you have on the computer would be helpful. It is tough to say what would be the best without that information. When upgrading the video card you will likely have to upgrade the power supply as well. What is the power supplies output in terms of watts?

I have 2 HP dc5000 small form factor PC's that have become increasingly taxed with CAD and Photoshop processing. Can anyone suggest what vide card I can use in a small form factor machine with no AGP only PCI slots available?

Thanks

A:What video card to use for small form factor

I think the best you're gonna get is an NVIDIA FX 5500 if all you have is a PCI slot. I suppose that'll do okay with photoshop and CAD programs, though. Just don't expect to play any newer games. Here's one from newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130255

You can pick up an FX 5500 at WalMart, but it'll be almost twice the price.

I had one of these in the past. From what I remember the small form factor still had 1 or two expansion slots. WIthout knowing the exact model of EN have you looked at a separate graphics card ... you may need to find an ISA compatible card but that should make finding drivers easier.

I take it that you didn't have the Factory Restore Capability available to you? This would have reloaded all the correct drivers for you. Although it would have also loaded all the Crapware that HP/Compaq bloats a computer with. You rally did not need to download all the network drivers. You would need to identify which Network Adapter your computer uses then install only the driver for that one.

Long shot but before getting too complicated try discharging the motherboard components like this:Turn off, disconnect power cord then hold the power Off/On button for at least 20 seconds. At odd times glitches can be cleared this way.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

How do you take the side cover off that surrounds the optical drive.
In the service manual I found online, there are no instructions for this.

eMachines EL1200-06w.
AMD Athlon 64 2650e Desktop Processor
OS: XP

This came with 1GB RAM. Total RAM allowed is 4GB. Two slots. One slot has 1GB RAM.

Question:

In the 2nd slot can a 2GB RAM be installed if it is correct RAM? For a total of 3GB RAM?

Hi songkrai, You should be OK to do that provided the speed of the ram matches the ram you already have , have a look at the "user guide" for your PC eMachines Support: Drivers and Downloads to get the correct info on the ram

Hi I have an Elite 8000 with a E8400 3.0 ghz dual core and was looking to purshare an Xeon X3360 cpu. Now from seaching the web the X3360 is the same chip as the Q9550. Both chips are Quad core with 2.8 ghz that support the lga775 board. My question is would the xeon chip work in my Elite if i updated my bios?

A:HP Elite 8000 CPU Upgrade

The specifications do not show the Xenon processor as a compatible CPU. You would be taking a gamble with your $$ that would very likely result in disappointment.  Xenon CPUs are not Core 2 processors.   Best regards, erico

Hi all,
I've installed 2 port RS232 PCI express serial cards into 6 of these Dell models, and none of them are reported in the BIOS as installed. Upgrading the BIOS from version A01 to A03 (released 1st April 2015) hasn't resolved the problem.
Anybody any idea please?
Cheers!

A:7020 small form factor - PCI Express card not recognised

You didn't give much information on the brand or specs of the cards or the systems you are installing them in. Are the PCI cards driverless? If not, did you install the drivers for the cards? Do the cards require an auxiliary power connector that wasn't plugged in?

A friend of mine has the HP Pavilion Slimline s3100n computer. It's a small form-factor motherboard. Has a single PCI-express 16x slot (for a video card). But he's looking to add a 2nd video card to do dual monitor.

I've been looking at the NVIDIA GeForce 8300GS or 8500GT - but I don't think they'll actually fit in this computer (even with a low profile bracket). Can anyone suggest a low profile, small form factor video card that will fit in this little HP computer? Doesn't need to be an over-the-top card....64mb with no fan even works (it's a business use computer - non-gaming, mostly business apps and surfing the web). Thanks in advance.

A:I have sound issues with a HP Compaq dc7900 small form factor?

The drivers are there. Go to www.hp.com, then do your search for "Compaq dc7900", which will give you 6 ways to look for what you need... You will likely need the product ID from the bottom or the back of your Compaq to get to the correct driver source. You will need to give your operating system...

Good luck. Let us know how it turned out.

I am looking for something thats not going to be very large but will house 3 3.5 drives (IDE more than likely but I have not determined yet if this is the case because this customer will probably spend more money on HDD;'s of any kind to make this pretty.)

I want it to have a single power source and not be too klunky. Raid within it would be a + but not a have to and I don't care about interface firewire or USB 2.0 is fine. Heck even ethernet is okay I guess if I can only find the solution in a NAS.

This has to be an all in one solution not something with a ton of cords or expansions. I already tried to get a NAS with 2 extra USB ports for additional storage but the customer wants something PRETTY and small and unobtrusive.

Anyone know of any products out there that fit this description?

i cant find windows 10 drivers for my HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor PC

A:windows 10 drivers for HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor PC

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome ! I am afraid there are no official Windows 10 drivers for your computer as it is too old model created long before Windows 10 was even in the MS plans. Officially, your computer only supports Win 2000, XP, Vista, 7 Please, note that Windows Vista and 7 are still under active support by Microsoft. Windows 7 is stable and reliable OS with support till year 2020 and is the preffered business operating system (based on current statistics at the moment). I'd recommend you continue using it on this PC. As for Windows 10, if you insist on trying it, you may want to test.Do create a back-up of all your files on external media. You can get Win 10 Enterprise edition and test it for free for 90 days >> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-10-enterprise Once you install Win 10, you can try to update drivers for network, sound, video, chips, etc... using the Windows Update method or Device manager. Here is how >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139 Although HP does not officially support or offer drivers for W10 for this device, Microsoft may have drivers and the device might work on Windows 10 (no guarantee). If it works, you can use it. If not, just restore back your previous copy of WIndows or preferred OS. If you need details on how to prepare Win 10 installation media, how to back up your files or something else, please post again and I'd provide details. Let me know if this works for you.

Good morning everyone!

I have a HP Compaq dc7800p Small Form Factor PC. It originally had Vista business on it, but--for obvious reasons--I am downgrading to XP Pro. This is was supposed to be a routine wipe and install, however, I must be mislead as to which drivers are required--specifically the network driver.

I have used the following HP site to obtain my network drivers.

HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor PC >> Windows XP >> Driver Network

Knowing that obviously some wouldn't work, I did try all of them out of desperation. Am I searching in the wrong place for these drivers? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think I understand what you are trying to do.

To get Windows 7 on your system with a new hard drive or a old hard drive you will need to do a Clean Install of Windows 7 using a proper media and COA key. The hardware will have to be capable of using Windows 7.
You will need to buy a Microsoft Windows 7 DVD with the proper COA key.
I personally buy my Windows operating system from a local dealer.

This tutorial by Brink will instruct you how to do a Clean Install.

Clean Install Windows 7

Try using this from Microsoft and see if your hardware is proper for Windows 7.

Download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor from Official Microsoft Download Center

We have had a handful of Dell 7040SFF monitor issues. The user will be in the middle of something-online, email, reading documents and their monitor or monitors will go completely black for about 30 seconds.
Windows 7, 64-bit, 8 GB ram, Intel i5-6500 CPU
I have updated the bios, chipset, and installed the video display drivers and control panel. We have Dell monitor P2014H Flat Panel.
I even went so far to have a user's motherboard replaced. STILL that did not fix the issue.
This investigator with the issue(we are the sheriff's office) figured out the problem...
His 800 MHz police portable radio was the problem. If that radio is less than 4 ft away from the 7040 the monitors do not blank-out. So fortunately that is an easy fix.

Hi,
Anyone can have any solution for OptiPlex 9010 small form factor BIOS A24 to setup three monitor with VGA , display port to DVI and display port to DVI?
Best Regards,
Gan

A:OptiPlex 9010 small form factor BIOS A24 not able to setup three monitor

The configurations that support 3 displays are limited to the ones listed below. If any other type of dongle or adapter that changes the input type on a port is used (Single-link passive DisplayPort to DVI, DisplayPort to VGA, for example), the system will automatically restrict the video card to two displays. The supported three display configurations are:Two (2) displays connected DisplayPort to DisplayPort (No adapters) and one display connected through VGA. (Recommended configuration) Two (2) displays connected via active Dual-Link DisplayPort to DVI adapters (Dell Part Number 470-AANW) and one display connected through VGA. (This configuration requires 2 available USB ports) One (1) display connected DisplayPort to DisplayPort (No adapters), one (1) display connected via active Dual-Link DisplayPort to DVI adapter (Dell Part Number 470-AANW) and one display connected through VGA. (This configuration requires 1 available USB port) NOTE: The Dual-Link DisplayPort adapter has a USB and a DisplayPort connector. Each adapter will require 1 dedicated USB port.

Hello everyone,Just got cleared hard drive and don't have any CD's that came with computer.I went to HP web site and downloaded most of the drivers but unfortunately cant get one for Ethernet card. There is also a few components installed on this computer that hasn't been recognized by Windows XP.It seems to me that I don't have any dedicated cards except Video (which i already found driver for). But I have no idea how to find out what kind of network card do i have.My guess was that since there are no dedicated cards installed - from list of available cards i decided that it has to be one integrated witch again from list of drivers would be only this oneWhich when installed doesn't work. It says that something is not found. Please help!

A:Can't find ethernet driver HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor PC

Hi

Maybe you can find a clue in Device Manager

In XP
click START
rightclick My Computer
click properties
click the HARDWARE tab
click the button that says DEVICE MANAGER
the Device Manager window should open
in it, locate Network Adapters and click the plus sign next to it.

Are any network cards listed there?

EDIT: also note anything in the Device Manager with a question mark or exclamation mark on it.

Having some trouble putting a PCI Express graphics card into an 8000 Elite CMT.  It's a Radeon HD7950 and I've already noticed a couple of issues: 1) The Power supply isn't large enough. I've read a few issues where the PSU in 8000 CMT's has a different chassis size to standard PSU's. 2) The motherboard doesn't have the required 6-pin PCI Express power connectors. I guess upgrading the PSU to one that has the requried power and has seperate PCI Express power connectors will solve the issue, can anyone confirm that this can be done with an 8000 CMT? ThanksGareth

I was just wondering if there was any GPU upgrades, any brand would do, btw, for my Acer Aspire AX3900 PC.

I currently have an ATI Radeon HD 5570, and my mother board is apparently a FIH57 model with a PCI Express slot. And my PSU is 400 watts I believe.

Thanks in advance.

A:Graphics card upgrade for a small factor PC?

You do have the proper expansion slot, however you have a very weak power supply, I'm actually surprised it even supports the 5570 according to the specs I found you only have a 220 watt psu. You're really going to need quite a bit more to be stable with a more powerful graphics card.

I want to install an SSD as well as my original HD to keep my OS. I think the empty bay is below the DVD RW as there is a conector labelled p5 or p6 with different colour wires. I want to get a 120 or 250 GB 2.5. I belive my hd  and connections are SATA 2 Am I right in thinking that a SATA 3 SSD will be compatable and the correct place to instal it is under the dvd? Also what other leads will I need? The  one thats there is on the one from the HD to the DVD, is this the power cable?

A:Installing SSD 8000 elite compaq

I made the installation of a 120gb and for anyone that's interested it wasn't the wildest experience or even come close to what I was expecting. First I had to reinstal the os onto the ssd. Then I lost all my apps. Office, u torrent, abode, autoCAD, iTunes everything was inaccessible from my old hd when connected to the 3rd socket. I had to change the speed in bios from 1.5 gbs to the max only 3 gbs. Then I has to change the settings so everything I downloaded or saved would go on my hd which is drive D now. I also seem to get a lot more of 'Firefox not respondimg' and other screen freezes or not responding. I don't know if this is a ssd the net connection but it seems to happen more than it did before. Has anyone else had this or care to share their experience with SSDS?

A:HP Compaq 8000 Elite PC cpu cooling

Hi: If you have the SFF model, the processor is cooled by the chassis fan. The air from the fan flows through the heat sink and provides adequate cooling for the processor. I can't remember if the fan blows the air into the heat sink or draws it away (exhausts it) from the heat sink. Just hold your hand near the fan outlet to feel which way the air is blowing. There should be a plastic shroud (fan baffle) over the fan and heat sink. You can see the parts list below... http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=4065894&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c01944842 The 8000 Elite CMT has a separate processor fan atop the heat sink.

A:How can I Factory Reboot my HP Compaq 8000 Elite SFF PC

#HPExpertDay Hello, If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you want to re-image the computer and delete all files from your HDD. On these desktops, you will have to run a disk sanitizer on a 4GB or less USB and boot to the USB from the BIOS. If you install the disk sanitizer found here:http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=4065873&swItemId=vc_98567_1&swEnvOid=4132Start to run the utility, during the install it will ask if you would like to save it to the USB, go through the prompts to finish installing. Then, you will unplug the USB, power down the unit, plug the USB back in, and as soon as you press the power button, start pressing the F9 key until it loads the BIOS boot options. Once you see the list of options, you will select HP Disk Sanitizer and hit the enter key to get it to start running. It will take a couple of hours so it may be best to run it overnight. Finally, when it is complete you can then re-load Windows back on the machine. You will need the restore media CD?s that came with your unit, if you have lost or misplaced them, give Elite Support (1-866-625-1175) a call to order some new ones for you. I hope this helps, thanks!

I have the same question and also want to buy this unit and drop in a Samsung 950 Pro, but before I buy I also want to confirm that it support PCIe and all 4 lanes. The form factor that the 950 Pro supports is m.2 2280 and the interface is "PCIe 3.0 x4 (up to 32 Gb/s) NVMe 1.1". Does the M900 Tiny support the same?
