I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought the laptop used. it appeared the battery wsdead. I bought a new battery. The battery would stay at 53 percent and when i would unplug the charger it would immediatly shut off. i troubleshooted in the device manager and reset the laptop. Nothing happened. I reset a second time and the battery was charging and the laptop would run off battery power. this soon stopped working. I continued to troubleshoot. i got it to charge again and run off battery power but now it will again not run off battery power. the battery is now at 74 percent so i know at some piont charging was happening. this is very frustrating. Iv built a gaming pc jst recently and i feel like i should be able to figure this out. Hi,I am just about to receive the Envy Touch Laptop (HP Envy 17t) but after the order, I found out that the battery is installed in the unit and not easily removable. I plan to have this laptop (as desktops) permanently plugged in the wall outlet. What I did in the past, I have removed the battery, which is not an easy job in HP Envy 17t. Any suggestion on how to proceed to prolong this battery life without removing it.Thankshttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Envy-Battery/td-p/5804349

And just 3 months, lol.Anyway, when I remove the power cord, it shuts down the laptop. In other words, it is not charging the battery. It can either be the battery or the charging circuit board. is there any way of telling exactly what is wrong before I have to dish out more of my money to HP??? I am trying to help someone remove the main battery from an HP Envy 14 -1000. I am doing this remotely from 1000 miles away and the person is not very mechanical. On the bottom of the laptop there is a latch with the battery symbol. How far is that latch supposed to slide? Should it slide all the way over and cover the little battery graphic? It only seems to slide about 5mm. Also, once it slides, how does the cover or battery remove? What direction, does it pull up, or does it slide off? I could use some very specific instructions as it does not seem to be cooperating. Last question: Once we get it off, will there be a battery number on it? How do we figure out which battery we need?
The Maintenance & Service Manual gives pretty good directions for removing battery:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02835360 And, yes the battery should have a number on it.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Removing-battery-from-HP-Envy-14/td-p/5728973

I bought my daughter an Envy 360 last year for school and we had to take it back because the battery died and wouldn't charge. Exchanged it for another Envy 360 and it has been about 15 months now. Guess what? Batter died and laptop won't work unless it is plugged in. Purchased a new HP battery and installed it and now we get "No Battery Detected". Any suggestions??http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/No-Battery-Detected-in-HP-Envy-360/td-p/5597232
I have had my ENVY 15 for a while now, and the battery life went from the factory "10 hours" to zero. It literally doesn't even sense the battery anymore. A week later, the keyboard looked bowed so I flipped it over and took out the battery. It expanded to over 3 times the factory thickness. I was wondering as to if I could get a replacement?I cannot upload a good picture as the max size for pictures is 1 Mb and my picture is 1.6.
I managed to compress an image. So here is the battery. Also, no it has never been damaged in any sort (including water).http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Battery-inflation-on-an-HP-ENVY-15/td-p/5787298

Hello, I have owned the HP Envy dv6 for almost 4 years now and it has been overheating for the past month, and when it overheats, it shuts down. Some days are worse than others, but I do not know what to do. For the most part the laptop works great, but the battery does tend to die quicker than it should. I need to know if I need to buy a new laptop or somehow get this fixed prior to the upcoming semester starting! The SD card does not show up when inserted into the slot of the HP Envy model 700-414 - driver needed? Hello,My envy computer will not start up. If I keep on trying the power button, occasionally it starts up. Though this tactic has stopped working. I'm trying to remove my battery to check if it's a static buildup in the battery but I cannot figure out how to do this. Can somebody please explain on how to remove the battery from the envy model 15-w158ca?Thank you very much.

Hi, I've had my HP Envy 15 for abou 1.5 years now, but the battery has never lasted more than 1.5 hours without a charge. This seems awful short for a product that advertises online as 8-9 hours. I've bought a replacement battery (no change), people always post online that it's related to the brightness settings (mine is set at just about 1/3 bright... ie not bright at all), and I've read about redoing the battery control method in Device Manager. None of these have had any effect. There has to be something that can be done to get a laptop to last longer than this. 90 minute battery life doesn't even make it much of a laptop anymore and keeps me constantly locked to a desk. Any thoughts? Or any possible batteries that actually work better than this one?
Hi @russ27, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 15 Notebook and concerns with your battery longevity. I am seeing that if you change the power plan options to balanced option in the Notebook will help. Here is a link that will help. Go into your power options. My Hp Envy has been great, I've used it every day when I go to class. The battery life at first started at about 4 hours and I figured it was decent. However, one day while it was closed, I brought it to a few classes before I used it. After it was unplugged and closed for two and a half hours, I opened it and was told I only had 11% battery life left. I figured I must not have plugged it in last night. I charged it and was told at a full battery, I only had 2 hours and 30 minutes of battery life. What's going on here? I've read that average is around 6 hours! Why is my Envy dying so quickly out of the blue? Thanks, Corey
Hi @cjvb1932?,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Envy 17 Notebook and having battery issues. I wanted to share something that I tried that fixed mine. Remove the battery and open device manager from the device and locate Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery. Right click and select uninstall. Reboot the device and wait a few moments, then install the battery back onto the device. Windows will automatically load the drivers. Then check it. Mine holds a charge great. You could try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows 10. Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed! Please let me know how this goes.Thanks.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/HP-Envy-17-has-Awful-Battery-Life/td-p/5298354
I bought this laptop in June 15, so the warranty just expired a couple of months ago. A few days ago the battery simply stopped charging. It works fine when plugged in (with or without the battery), but when plugged in it displays status as "0% available (plugged in, not charging). When I plug it in the charging light turns orange like it's supposed to, but within 5-10 seconds it turns white, as if it's fully charged. Of course it's not though, as it's at 0%, and if I take the plug out it dies immediately. I have always used only genuine HP charger/battery, and although I understand batteries lose life, having this happen after 14 months is not normal. Is there any way to fix this? I looked at "HP Assistant," but I don't see any battery diagnostics. The battery for my hp envy ts 15 notebook won't hold a charge. It works fine when connected to the charger but when taken off, will shut down. I've ran a battery test through the HP support assistant and ran a components test. Each one states the battery is ok. But whenever I take it off the charger the battery, which states its at a decent charge, the laptop will instantly die. I also checked the battery number and it is not apart of the recall.
Can you take a screenshot of the battery test? Particularly how many cycles it has registered? And how old is the laptop and battery?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/hp-envy-battery-won-t-hold-charge/td-p/5757209

I have started having problems with the secondary battery on my HP Envy x2. I've had it for a couple of months now and to begin with everything was fine. A couple of weeks ago I began to have intermittent warnings when I turned on the Envy. It said that there was a problem with the calibration of the secondary battery and it needed callibrated or possibly replaced. The problem is that even though it says this it sometimes shows that the battery has successfully fully charged and sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't always appear to use the charge sitting in the secondary battery, this is intermittent too. I have been through the battery callibration procedures and although the battery again shows as 100% charge it still says the battery needs callibrated.
OK. Your Envy x2 has an 11-030ea product name. Follow the troubleshooting procedures on this HP web document. If you still have issues with the batteries \an\or charging afterwards, I suggest contacting HP for warranty service.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Battery-charge-problem-HP-Envy-x2/td-p/2952585

I have an HP Envy t- CTO It uses HP Replacement Battery - I purchased the computer from HP in Two years later I find that HP no longer stocks a replacement battery for it In fact no domestic US after-market replacement is listed on nbsp eBay as - - Two Hong Kong providers bill and gates sell it and will deliver before February that would be six weeks from now Amazon doesn't sell it Newegg and Tiger Direct don't Anker and Batteries Plus are no and no I could go on nbsp Two years after purchasing this premium-priced HP laptop what's the owner of an Envy t- CTO to do I Battery 657503-001 HP Envy Longer No Available 17t-3200 asked HP site which suggested the HP Store which sent me away with the phone number to HP Parts But HP Parts wanted to send me off with the phone number for the HP Store but after being HP Envy 17t-3200 Battery 657503-001 No Longer Available reminded I d been there instead sends me away with a phone number for HP PartsPartner I asked the HP PartsPartner who suggests I try eBay but warns to be sure I buy from a domestic seller with a good reputation Now having found no domestic sellers on eBay I ponder whether to try bill or gates Yes a handful of retailers in addition to bill and gates sell them but that handful tends to feature product pictures of a different model battery This doesn t make me feel confident nbsp I believe the HP PartsPartner cautioned me wisely From a consumer protection standpoint I'd like at least the option of purchasing from HP or some domestic seller who has an established reputation and knows what the product looks like I'm sure someone can out-google me and eek out another seller or two but is that how a nbsp purchase like this is supposed to go My laptop was HP s consumer flagship model just two years ago What causes the dearth of these batteries An inherent design defect A complete lack of a market Uncareful planning nbsp For me and fellow owners who might find themselves here I d love to know of top-tier sellers who have the right battery in stock and are ready to ship Please share what you know If I don't I guess I ll just flip a coin choosing bill for heads and gates for tails and then I ll find an outlet and just settle in until Groundhog Day Does that sound right to you nbsp nbsp

I am trying to find a replacement battery that doesnt suck for this laptop. I have owned the laptop for about 18 months and the battery is just dead. Wont charge at all. I only used the laptop on battery power a handful of times, the rest of the time it was plugged in and running on wall power. So I am really baffled by why this thing is dead when it has barely been used. I would like to find a replacement that is better than the one that HP tries to sell as a replacement as it has terrible reviews.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-ENVY-Notebook-m7-k211dx-Battery-replacement/td-p/5779894
Dear HP Supporter, i have a HP ENVY x360 laptop with Win 8.1 operating system. It writes that plugged in, no charging. This laptop has a not removable battery. I read forums and tips but neither fixed my problem.I tried to shut down, plug off, wait, plug in, turn on,without result. I also tried to uninstal in device manager the baterries then restart the laptop, without result.I also tried the fix the problem with HP Support Assistant, battery scanning, and it writes that my battery is ok, but then 'unknown'.Because of 'unknown' I tried to download the updates, no result.I am not able to fix the problem of my laptop, and I wouldl ike to ask for your assistance.I am looking forward to your answer. Hi there, I am looking for a replacement batter for a HP ENVY 17-j184na Notebook PC. I replaced the original one which burned out with a 4400mAh six cell battery. The battery life for this is barely an hour out of the charger. I am looking for a replacement battery that is either:- 6-cells and higher mAh, or,- preferably, a 9 or 12 cell battery. Can I take it that all Envy 17 PC's do not have the same type of battery, and that I shouldn't look at one that just advertises Emvy 17 batteries? Any help on finding an effective replacement would be really greatly appreciated. This is the second time that my laptop has suddenly shut down and dumped all the battery power nbsp As it's a very battery intensive laptop I almost always run it plugged in to the mains nbsp On both occasions - Sudden dump shutdown and 17 Envy battery I have left Envy 17 - Sudden shutdown and battery dump the laptop for a couple of minutes and would expect it to have gone into 'sleep' mode However when I move the mousepad there is no response and when I then press the power button there is no response nbsp I have discovered via the retailer I purchased it from that Envy 17 - Sudden shutdown and battery dump I have to remove the battery hold down the power button for seconds to drain any residual power and then reinsert the battery and it will power up nbsp However the display then shows that the battery has been drained entirely of power Has a sudden drain taken place causing the laptop to shut down and require this form of restart Can anyone explain what is happening and if there is a fix available

I made the mistake of allowing my laptop to die completely and ever since it will not charge. I Am a tech So i figured i may have to reseat the connection or reinstall drivers or sumthing to that effect but now I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING. I tested the battery both in uefi Diagnostics and HP Assistant and its fine . the only notable change in my pcs behavior is the fact that the charger light is constantly flashing back and forth from orange to white I am out of warranty so ANY HELP IS APPRECIATEDhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Envy-Ultrabook-4-1115dx-will-not-charge-and-both-battery/td-p/5815954

I bought a new HP Envy Envy battery life dismal HP 13 D022TU on Sunday June sales person HP Envy 13 D022TU dismal battery life said HP Envy 13 D022TU dismal battery life I could get - hours of video loop time and around hours of dormant time on the laptop To my dismay the fully charged laptop could get only hours dormant and hours while streaming videos which is honestly just unacceptable nbsp I exchanged it for a new laptop with the retailer yesterday and charged it up Same model laptop the inch D TU Battery life is better but honestly still unacceptable hours of video streaming on battery saver mode lowest light settings and all other stuff to save battery except turning off wifi nbsp nbsp Retailer is unwilling to admit that there is something wrong with the battery and asked me to come to HP to file my complaint They claim that this is the industry standard of battery life for laptops nowadays but when I have a HP folio that is years HP Envy 13 D022TU dismal battery life old and is still running on longer battery life than this brand new laptop I know its all fluff nbsp nbsp Wondering if HP will do anything about this With so much arguing with the retailers and such bad experience with this laptop I wish to exchange it for another laptop maybe even another HP model but the retailer won't budge at all nbsphttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Envy-13-D022TU-dismal-battery-life/td-p/5650759
Ok let me cut to the chase I ve tried all normal Not Battery HP Envy Touchsmart Charging M7-j010dx test and options to verify what the problem isn't it's not the battery and not the AC charger nbsp What I really want to know is whether anyone has nbsp solved this HP Envy Touchsmart M7-j010dx Battery Not Charging problem by replacing the motherboard or changing BIOS nbsp HP has been of no help on this matter and they actually want me to just buy a new laptop or pay them to let them fix it nbsp Two things I find strange are why have there been no BIOS updates in the years since this laptop was built and I'm also seeing that there is no download whatsoever for even a reinstall of BIOS and also why -- despite the fact that MANY people seem to have had battery power charging issues on HP laptops in the past few years if not longer -- am I seeing no actual root causes online I don't want to just throw money at the problem forgive me but I'm an engineer I want to know what's going on and whether I can expect the problem to happen again nbsp I've been through batteries and chargers and the story is the same the HP Diagnostics UEFI tell me the battery needs to be replaced nbsp The battery never gets charged above the charge level it was at when I receive the new battery - charge for nbsp all nbsp batteries and draining the battery to a low level about and it doesn't go up nbsp The laptop is not charging the battery I get an orange light which tells me it's trying to charge the battery and the behavior is the same for new HP chargers nbsp Note that all of this is for both the original Windows that the laptop came with and windows that I installed later It seems to me that the only remainining possibilities are needing an updated BIOS I'm basing that on seeing other forum posts for other laptop models that seemed to have the same problem which was fixed by updating the BIOS or replacing the motherboard nbsp For the latter case I'd like to believe that the problem isn't the motherboard itself but rather a loose connector or worse a bad IC on the MB but either way I don't want to give HP any more money considering just sending it to them will cost a third of what the laptop cost but I don't want to simply buy a new laptop when this one is otherwise perfectly fine for what I need nbsp Does anyone have any input on this issue Have you had the same problem and fixed it by updating the BIOS or replacing the motherboardhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Envy-Touchsmart-M7-j010dx-Battery-Not-Charging/td-p/5640054
Hello all, The battery that came with the machine states its a MC04 model or part number 807231-001. I can't find a replacement anywhere, not even in the HP Store. I would like to know which are the options available to replace this battery, capacities, etc. Thank you for your time.

Hallo everyone, So this model has an internal battery so of course all the other help finding the serial number is basically useless. I am just wanting to know if I need to get my laptop a new battery due to the recent recall... Since I honestly don't fancy having the risk of it (and all my schoolwork) catch on fire. Though I am sure no one does. Basically any help is help, I just want to check to see if it is part of the recall since I know I bought it in the time frame of the recalled batteries. Thanks a bunch, Skyefer

Hi this laptop crash when i use without power outler, i.e on battery mode? Any ideas I did the calibration upgrade bios, etc. I think it will a driver or sw problem. I had another envy and that crashed but also with power outlet and the problem was the Intel Thermal frameworkhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/system-crash-when-envy-is-on-battery-mode/td-p/5789566
We have an Envy x360, which has an internal battery that you cannot remove, or check to ensure it is seated properly without voiding the warranty. We cannot currently use the laptop without it being plugged in, as it is showing "plugged in, battery not charging, 0%".We have tried other charging cables. No luck. We have tried unplugging it then holding down the power key to drain then restarting. No luck. We have tried going to contol panel and removing the ACPI compliant battery control and restarting. No luck. We are at wits end. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hello nbsp Several days ago my HP Envy x laptop battery started performing strangely - charge lasts only for less than min and I started getting the HP error message when starting the computer The interesting thing is that this issue lasted for one day and then L0N30EA battery issue ENVY HP X360 15 it disappeared I did not do anything - on the HP ENVY 15 X360 L0N30EA battery issue next day the battery performed as usual around hours on charge However a day HP ENVY 15 X360 L0N30EA battery issue later the same issued occurred again and I have had it ever since I keep getting that error message but only when the laptop is not charging I have installed several battery monitoring programs and I saw one interesting thing - when I connect the charging cable all those applications display correct designed and fully charged battery capacity but as soon as I unplug the charging cable the designed and fully charged battery capacity shrinks nearly ten times from around to mWh The same thing happens with HP HP ENVY 15 X360 L0N30EA battery issue battery testing application - when plugged and charging the application says the battery is ok and does not need to be replaced but when I unplug the cable and run the battery test one more time it says that the battery needs to be replaced due to natural loss of capacity The HP application shows that the battery has only been through around charge cycles so I presume this is no ordinary battery degradation issue I tried manually calibrating the battery reinstalling battery drivers restoring OS to previous date but nothing worked nbsp Can someone tell me what is happening with the battery Is it dead Or is it Windows issue had some updates a day before the issue started I really like using this laptop but it is a shame I encountered such issue so soon after six months of usage hope this is not some serious hardware issue One more observation - the charger brick now since the issue has begun seems to be quite cool while charging the laptop but nbsp earlier I remember the brick was getting really hot when charging
H [email protected], Welcome to the HP Forum! I am pleased that you have become a HP Forum member. It is such a wonderful site to find answers and tips. Here is a link to guide you to having the most rewarding experience and answer any concerns about posting: First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More I grasp that you are experiencing an issue with the battery on your Envy x360 15-u202na. When you connect the charging cable all the battery applications display correct design and fully charged battery capacity, but as soon as you unplug the charging cable the design and fully charged battery capacity shrinks nearly ten times (from around 38,000 to 3,680 mWh). The same thing happens with the HP battery testing application. When plugged in and charging, the application says the battery is OK and does not need to be replaced, but when you unplug the cable and run the battery test once more it says that the battery needs to be replaced due to natural loss of capacity. The HP application shows that the battery has only been through around 170 charge cycles, so you presume that this is not an ordinary battery degradation issue. You tried manually calibrating the battery, reinstalling battery drivers, and restoring OS to previous date, but there was no change. You also noted that the power brick previously would be warm when charging but now remains cool. Are you connecting directly to an electrical outlet or are you using a power / surge bar? To rule out the adapter as being an issue here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Using the AC Power Adapter. Here is another link to assist you with testing the battery again and doing a calibration. HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 10). If the battery passes the hardware check there is one more option to try. The Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery is basically the driver that communicates between the computer and the battery. There is a chance that it is corrupted and is reading the battery level wrong. Step 1. Go to Device Manager.Step 2. Select Batteries.Step 3. Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.Step 4. Click Uninstall.Step 5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver.Step 6. Shutdown the computer.Step 7: Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.Step 8. Go to Device Manager.Step 9. Select " Batteries".Step 10. Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.Step 11. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software". I have an HP Envy that is about 2 years old and it is running windows 10. I have recently started noticing that it will shut off when I close the lid, it does not allow me to put it in to "sleep", and the battery runs down very quickly, while also getting very hot and it does not let me adjust the brightness level. It started doing this about 1.5 months ago and seemed to resolve when I did some sofeware updates. The problem has sense reoccured again twice. Is there anything that I can do to fix it on my own?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/HP-envy-shuts-down-when-lid-is-closed-and-runs-down-battery/td-p/5707508

I bought an HP Envy m6 1125dx from Best buy in 2012 and for the past couple of months, I have noticed that the Right hinge between my screen and laptop body getting looser. Initially it was very little and I was able to open and close the laptop. But now the right hinge completely broke and the left hinge is getting looser. Also plastic frame just above the right hinge is broken. Now I am not able to open the laptop. Apart from the hinge issue, my battery also got some issues. It?s not getting charged even if I plugged for more than 3-5 hours. It looks like the battery is dead. I don?t have warranty on my laptop now. But I did googled and the forum says, this is common issue with M6 1125dx.Can someone please help me how can I get this laptop fixed? Please help. Thanks.

My 2 year old moderately used laptop battery suddenly died after a windows update. Everything was working fine, the battery still held charge for over 2 hours and now it doesn't work at all. When I hover over the battery icon it says '79% available (plugged in, not charging)'. If I pull out the charger my laptop stops as though it doesn't recognise there's a battery. I ran the HP battery test and it told me the battery is dead. How can a normally functioning laptop battery suddenly die after a standard update? I see there are a number of customers complaining about the battery not charging when switched on but my battery doesn't work at all - although it apparently is 79% charged. Is this normal for HP laptops?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/HP-Envy-battery-suddenly-died-on-windows-update/td-p/5821622

Hi, I just got a new HP Envy x 360 in July 2016 and a new HP monitor 27es Display in mid-August. It was connecting to the monitor by using HDMI fine till last week. From a week ago (around Labor day), it stopped recognizing the monitor.I have an old HP laptop, and it is fine connecting to the the monitor by VGA. So, it is not the monitor's issue.I remember I did the recommended HP update around the same time. I am suspecting that update caused the issue with HDMI. Can anyone help? Thanks.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/HP-Envy-x360-stopped-working-HDMI/td-p/5766734
