I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: R5-471T-52EE USB C output support a "3rd" monitor?...

I use a Targus dock & Displaylink drivers to provide signal to two monitors from the USB 3.0 port and can send to a third with the HDMI (not counting the R5 display) so could be four. Mediasonic also has a good dual display dock (have to be careful some docks advertise HDMI OR VGA. A true dual display dock will support simultaneus displays). Without an external adapter of some sort I do not know of a way to support three monitors with different displays. The manual seems to be a cut'n'paste from a R3 that does have a RJ-45 jack, the R5 doesn't. (but both of my docks have gigabit ethernet jacks & have seen over 80MB/s at home.)

Purchased this product a little over 3 weeks ago.  Problems from the start.  The touchscreen is not at all smooth.  Trying to zoom in on pictures by pinching/spreading fingers on the screen is terrible.  My experience with a competing brand was much better/smoother.  Sometimes the touchscreen just doesn't seem to work at all.  Then it will come back.  Another issue is that my intel graphics driver continually crashes.  This is my last resort before returning the product to exchange for a different brand.  Please help.

I'm using a similar version of the R5-471T and pinch to zoom photos works flawlessly.  Microsoft recently pushed a new Intel graphics driver through Windows Updates.  It went to Haswell, Broadwell and Skylake computers like we currently have.  So I'm guessing somehow your computer got out of whack on Day 1.  1. Backup your important personal files to a USB drive 2. Reset the computer to factory condition (Just remove my files) http://acer--uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29925/~/use-acer-erecovery-management-to-restor... 3. After your computer resets, look for the Acer Care Center App on your computer and update  your computer including critical updates and driver updates. 4.Within 72 hours, Microsoft should push the Intel .4331 driver to your computer through windows update. Let us know how it goes.  And please report your BIOS version.  To check your BIOS version, right click on Windows start button, left click on "run", type msinfo32, click ok.

I puchased a R5-471T-52EE on Friday (3 days ago) and the touch screen does not work.  After peeking around, I don't have Pen and Touch settings in control panel, and there is no HID Compliant - Touch Screen recognized in the Device Manager.  There's no value in doing a factory restore because it is like this out of the box. Is there something I could be missing, or do I need to return to Best Buy?

rpozun,

If you are totally against a factory reset, which you should not be since it is brand new, you can try a refresh first to see if that fixes it.

I have always turned off mouse precision for windows so there's no mouse acceleration on mouse or touchpad. If I installed anniversary update, then I get a large amount of acceleration that wasn't there before the update. Mouse is unaffected. Is there any fix for this.

A:R5-471T-52EE Touchpad Anniversary Update

Turning Touchpad settings in BIOS from advanced to basic removed the acceleration but also turn off precision touchpad. It's also very slow without turning the mouse sensitivity very high. The current driver is a generic HID-compliant touch pad driver from Microsoft. I have just tried installing a Synaptics generic driver, it did not fixed the issue.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for your question, but it does sound like a good idea if the technology is catching up. I would like to suggest taking a look at our Idea's platform (linked up top) and submitting this there. I have an S-Video port on my computer and I am going to run it to my 46" Projection TV.

What I want to know is how to switch b/t S-Video out and the VGA out so I can switch between my monitor and TV - is there a keyboard combination I have to hit (like on a function key on a laptop)?

I will only be viewing video files on my TV (so it won't be too often that I use the S-Video out port).

I remember doing this a while back, but it seems like I had to do a restart and unhook my VGA connection to get the S-Video feed to work - there must be an easier way.

Thanks ALL!!!

Depending on the card, I am personally better versed with ATI, but I know my Nvidia also, you can set up a dual display and set the S video to play all movies at full screen, and through the control disable the TV when not in use.

I was having problems with Computer A, a driver issue, windows wouldn't boot when I installed the nvidia drivers. So I tested the card was OK by putting it in an other machine (Computer B) The card checked out fine and I've since fixed the problem with Computer A.

So now I put the old card back into Computer B and now there is no output to the monitor. At first it came on but didn't seem to be booting (no beep). I had a poke around inside and it seemed I'd knocked the catches on the ram, I secured them back in place and tried again.

5 seconds after turning it on, it beeped, then every 10 seconds after that, but still no monitor output and the floppy drive light stays on constantly.

I tried a different cable, monitor and card - still the same problem, so its none of them.

So do you get the post and the "INVENT" label? or just nothing? In this situation I use a second testing computer and go through each part to make sure what's working. Need to call a PC friend and see if you can use their (compatible) pc for a few minutes. You can reset the bios by removing the battery for 15 seconds or so. Just one of the usual steps. If all hardware checks out O.K. then get your Windows disc out (if you have one). I hope it turns out to be an easy fix. Good Luck.

Check to make sure that everything is plugged in tightly. Furthermore, and only becuase I've done this more than once, ensure that the monitor is plugged into the video card, and not into the monitor plugin on the motherboard. Seems silly, but it could happen!

Check the Video Card

Open the case up again and double-check that you didn't accidentally loosen the video card from it's slot. You didn't change any jumpers, right? Do you hear any beeps when you try to turn on the computer?

Hi Techies !

My monitor is fine and the processor is up, but no output on the Montior. What would be the problem. My wild guess is with HDD. To ensure that my HDD LED is not in operation. How to check if its HDD. Whether the problem is entirely different ?

Thanks in Advance,

A:No OUTPUT on Monitor, CPU Is UP.

Are you using an onboard graphics adaptor (physically part of the motherboard) or a seperate one connected in an expansion slot?

Double check the cables from PC to monitor are connected securely. With the machine turned off open it up and check the graphics card is seated correctly and firmly in its slot (if its in a slot and not onboard), remove it completely and re-seat it to be sure.

Are you 100% sure your monitor is fine? Have you tried another one to see if it makes a difference?

I assume you are getting power to the machine as you say the 'processor is up'. Is it actually booting though? Can you hear the hard drive being accesses shortly after you switch the PC on?

It did not work, but when I reconnected to my monitor I find that there is no output to the monitor. I don't know what has gone wrong. Perhaps connecting the VGA to the DVI has damaged my BIOS?!

Can anybody help me please?

Try A different monitor. Its always a dangerous op connecting to tv. when it failed you should have powered off the computer by pressing power button to initiate shutdown. (not holding button for 5 seconds) then when you power it back on use safemode/vga mode to reset default monitor config.

sounds to me like it has distroyed your monitor.
when you reboot if the HDD led activity is normal, then it is still likely that your Mainboard is still OK, try a different graphics card or use onboard if your Mainboard has one. if all fails then all you can do is to reset your Cmos and try a different processor. if that does'nt work then your Mainboard and possibly processor has had it. Hope this is helpful.

I hooked up an external monitor from my video card. It goes from s-video from my card to a converter that changes it to rca, then the rca video goes into the tv. Now I can see everyting fine on the TV, but when I play videos, it won't display them. It will display the player, but not the media. I hooked up audio to the tv. I have audio from the media files, but no video.

Hi guys,

My computer recently died on me after a power failure, the surge killed the power supply even though I had it connected to a surge protector . I got a replacement power supply because it was under warranty and replaced the old one last week. I powered up my system and it worked fine apart from one of the video cards was not being detected. So I shutdown the computer and turned it back on, but this time I got no output to the monitor. Everything turns on and I think it boots up, the fans on the video cards spin and everything else turns on. What could have gone wrong?

My specs are:
Abit IN9 32X-MAX Motherboard
Intel Core2Duo 2.4Ghz

Windows XP Professional

A:No output to monitor, no beeps

Did you check the standard items, such as: no false contact between the mobo-supports and mobo, properly connecting the small cables for speaker, reset, power etc. ? No part of the mobo even slightly bent by tightening the screws too hard?

Does your mobo have a speaking POST that can be switched on with a jumper?

Try to connect the mobo while it is lying on its anti-static wrapper, rather than inside the case.

Im running 7 on my laptop, and im trying to get it to output only to my external monitor when the lid is closed. I can get it to extend my desktop, but when i close the lid, it turns off the external monitor. I have set Windows 7 to do nothing when lid is closed. Is there anyone else with this problem?
I have an Dell Inspiron 1525, with Intel x3100 integrated graphics, if that helps.

A:Cant output to external monitor only

Hi & Welcome to the Forum,

There typically are 3 settings:

1. Notebook Only
2. External Only
3. Notebook & External (extend or clone)

Have you tried to switch before closing the notebook lid to both 2 & 3?

Think on most dells its FN + F8. Try pressing FN +F8 to display only external before closing notebook.

Lastly, have you checked to make sure the notebook is staying awake when lid is closed?

I have a 5 or 6 year old desktop eMachines computer running WinXP. When first turned on, pilot light lights, fans run, HD spins up and monitor comes out of standby and displays “no signal” for a few seconds. Then the monitor goes back into standby without ever displaying anything else.

Monitor works normally on another computer.

I assumed it was a problem with the graphic circuitry on the MB so added a new graphics card. No change.

Is there anything else to check before assuming it is a bad MB and relegating the computer to boat anchor duty?

A:Need some help FAST! [3 monitor output?]

Hi wbstein

I haven't heard of doing this with an nVidia card lower than a Quadro. Matrox has some cards that do three of more.

Two screens is, as you know, easy as pie. Three usually involves using two video cards, for lower-end models (on desktops, folks with use a dual-screen add-on card along with their onboard graphics).

The nVidia Specs mention spanning two monitors, but I haven't seen any mention of three. This is likely due to having just two RAM/DACs on the card.

Cant output to external monitor only
Im running 7 on my laptop, and im trying to get it to output only to my external monitor when the lid is closed. Also, I've tried the FN+F8 route and it does the same thing. Both screens go blank and the LCD TV (external monitor) says invalid format. Its almost like when the lid is closed it changes the resolution to a non displayable one. Happens with both FN+F8 and the lid close method. I never had this problem with XP. Please help.

After recently installing a replacement motherboard on our old Pentium 586 computer the monitor doesn't seem to display anymore.

The video card is correctly installed in the correct PCI slot, but after booting the system, it resorts to suspend mode, and won't recognise any video ouput signal from the computer.

Is there anyway to overcome this?

A:Monitor won't recognise video output

Does it stay on while booting up?

Will it display in Safe Mode?

Have you checked Device Manager in Safe Mode for Ghost Drivers in Monitors and Display Adaptors?

Is it the monitor going into Suspend or the computer?

Have you tried another monitor on this machine?

Did you move the Motherboard to another Case? If so, doublecheck that there are no Spacers underneath in the wrong position that may be shorting the board to the Case.

Have you tried a known working PSU? Often the fans will spin, the HDD powers up, but one of the other rails has blown -i.e RAM or CPU getting no juice. Seeing as you have no BEEP, this sounds likely

I can boot up in safe mood, and see the desktop, but not when i boot up normally. Is there anything I can change in "safe mode" that will enable me to change things back?

Regardless of the screen I have attatched, I have no problems connecting it to my TV via HDMI and using it that way graphics wise. Upon closely inspecting the motherboard I have not seen any cracks or any other damage. Any insight on this problem would be very appreciated.

So I recently bought a new computer. I was using the GTS 450 on the old one no problem not even a month ago. I have attempted to install it on my new pc. Switched out to a Thermaltake TR2 600W PSU which is operating just fine. I placed the video card into the primary pci slot and powered it with the 6-pin connector. Put everything back together and started her up. PC turns on fine, with even the fan going on the video card. But no video output. I'm stuck. What can I do? The drivers won't install themselves without the hardware.

Do you have no visual at all , only black screen.
If you have visual does the new gpu been recognized in the device manager.
Sometimes the integrated gpu is not automaticcaly disabled when you install a new gpu and you must disable the integrated gpu manually in the bios.

Audio output when monitor from the hard drive or from Audio output skipping when monitor sleeps... the internet starts to skip As soon as I quot wake quot the monitors it sounds normal It only happens when the monitors go to sleep and it just started about weeks or so ago Doesn t happen when the screen saver comes on I also ripped recorded a stream from the internet while the monitors Audio output skipping when monitor sleeps... were sleeping while listening to the stream as well Skipping started when the monitors went to sleep I left it go made not of the time when the monitors slept then played back the stream No skipping So it appears that whatever service process puts the monitors to sleep interferes with audio output to the speakers This does not happen when the screen saver comes on and I do not have the HDD set to sleep either I m using the on-board sound which is soundMAX digital integrated HD audio driver version latest Here are the specs to my box including screen shots of services processes and start up info http user pa net starner puterproblem htm I even used systernals process monitor to monitor what happens when it goes to sleep There was nothing present that seemed out of place that wasn t there prior to the problem But I can certainly get a screen shot of that as well I have uninstalled the audio drivers power cycled the puter reinstalled no change I tried streaming an MP via quicktime and it still occurs so it is certainly JUST output to the speakers Short of reinstalling windows or trying another sound card I m out of ideas I could do either of those but that doesn t help me understand what is happening and I really rather not That merely fixes the problem by going around it much like disallowing the monitors from entering sleep mode Any Ideas nbsp

A:Audio output skipping when monitor sleeps...

megaoptimus,
you have a nice system. This skipping problem, isn't really a problem as I see it...

Go into Display Properties, Screen Saver, Power Settings and set to "always on", and for the monitors to never turn off, or pick a turn off time of 2 hours or more. Set the screen saver to activate after 30 minutes or so

Hello all I m sorry if this is in the wrong forum as I m not sure what the problem is I m having a MASSIVE problem with my computer and as usual it s happened at the worst possible time need to complete and send off my job application today so I m really panicking What s happened is this Monday morning I turned on the computer walked off and came as on, no to Comp Please turns dead. help! if output monitor back with Comp turns on, no output to monitor as if dead. Please help! the desktop loaded Itunes was up as my ipod was plugged in to one of the two front USB ports but the ipod screen was not lit which is unusual The computer had crashed totally frozen as even the mouse wouldn t move There was a very short line of pixels next to the mouse that were shimmering I ve not seen this before I turned it off at the main switch then shortly back on again The fan would go and the disk drives would whir but there would not be any output to the monitor or any other response I called a technician to come out and he first took out and reinserted the ram card The computer turned on after this He Comp turns on, no output to monitor as if dead. Please help! plugged his pen Comp turns on, no output to monitor as if dead. Please help! drive into one of the front two USB ports to look at the dmp file on his laptop and the computer instantly crashed and rebooted- I ve had my pc for months and it s never done this He then swapped the ram card into the other slot It started and didn t seem to crash He ran a program that tested all aspects of the computer to see if it would crash under pressure but it didn t He was able to look at the dmp file and found it was a windows system error that caused it to crash It s been fine since then until last night I plugged my scanner into the front USB ports and it froze again with the same wiggly pixel line by the mouse And again after this it wouldn t turn on I took out and replaced the ram card- nothing I had turned off my scanner but not unplugged it I did this and the computer started What I noticed was different is that only one of the three lights on the front of the tower were lit when it wouldn t turn on then all three when it would I sadly don t know what these lights are for That s my next line of investigation I carried on using my computer happily it even survived a restart after I needed to reset my wacom Then this morning it s the same won t turn on No USB cables are plugged in I decided not to use the front two ports at all and I ve tried both reinserting the ram card into it s slot and swapping it to the other one but still nothing I know it s not the PSU as the tech guy tested the one I have and it tested fine but he also replaced it with a new one to make sure and it still had errors History of this comp had problems loading the desktop after the windows screen it would just go black Seemed to be related to my wacom being plugged in on start up and read others have had this problem with digital cameras plugged in at start up But then one time it really wouldn t load up start up Followed microsoft online instructions and that totally fubared it had to format and reinstall Since then it s not been the same machine Very slow bad graphics and play back like it had a lobotomy Irony is this version is a legitimate version of windows not a crack like it was before format I ve never had any other problems with it Please please help me if you can and tell me what i need to do buy to replace as I m so totally up creek without a paddle if this computer doesn t turn on again today I really appreciate anyone for simply reading the above and for trying to help me I hope you can Thank you p s Oh it s an Acer if that helps nbsp

A:Comp turns on, no output to monitor as if dead. Please help!

To get your computer started again, try this:

Remove all power (take out the power cord)
Hold the ON button in for 30 Secs
Let go of the ON button (after 30 secs)
Put the power cord back in
Turn on the computer

By the way it does sound like a motherboard issue

Testing the AMD HDMI sound output gave the following error message:

Device in use by another application?

This FIX worked for this hardware configuration.

? MSI motherboard
? Realtek Audio onboard (built into motherboard)
? AMD Video board installed withHDMI cable to monitor
? See how the Device Manager sound devices should look when correctly configured below.

Issue(s):

1. The Realtek HDMI Drivers had been assigned to the AMD HDMI card under Device Manager, Sound, Video and Game Controllers.

2. There are multiple hardware devices/drivers that are conflicting.

Actions Required:

1. There are 2 instances of the AMD HDMI card that should be shown under Device Manager.

2. You must uninstall the Realtek hardware and drivers so that only the AMD HDMI device is showing.

3. The AMD HDMI and Microsoft device drivers must be assigned to the AMD hardware.

How to fix:
1. Under the Device Manager sub-heading ?Audio inputs and outputs?
? AMD HDMI Output (High definition Audio device)
? Right click and select Properties, Driver, should show driver provided by: Microsoft

2. Under the heading ?Sound, Video and Game Controllers?
? AMD High definition audio device
? Right click on the device to display the menu window
? Select Properties, Driver tab
? Driver Provider should say: Advanced Micro Devices
If the driver provider is wrong you will need to uninstall the Device and the Driver.
3. Right Click on:
? AMD High definition Audio device.
? Select: Uninstall
? You must also check the box to removethe drivers for the hardware.
After the AMD High Definition Audiodevice is uninstalled.

At the topof the Device Manager screen select ?Scan for Hardware Changes?
The system will detect the AMD HDMI Sound Card and install the correct AMD sound drivers.
Verify that the HDMI hardware has been detected and the correct driver has been assigned to it.
Your Device Manager should look like something like this when you have the AMD HDMI sound working :

Make sure that all other conflicting sound devices are disabled under Device Manager ? Sound, as shown below:

Additional information:
If you have downloaded and installed updated Realtek sound drivers they will overwrite your working AMD HDMI drivers and the same problem will occur where the AMD HDMI won?t output sound to your monitor.
Uninstall the Realtek hardware anddrivers. Then under Device Driver you will need to select Action, then select Scan for Hardware Changes. Verify that the configuration is correct as shown above.

I have now worked out it's def a driver conflict between what appears to be Microsoft's standard driver for audio (that comes with Windows 8 via online driver collection) and realtek or amd drivers (when you try to install either of them).

I had noticed no matter which driver I installed it would always show "High Definition Audio Bus" with an exclamtion mark and it was driving me crazy as couldn't get HDMI to be recognised for audio - only video (ie extend or mirror displays worked fine).

I finally had a eureka moment this weekend and started a new install of Windows 8.1 BUT this is what I did:
1. I disabled the onboard sound via the BIOS
2. I went through the windows setup but on setup I chose customize settings rather than express settings - in here you need to ensure (for now) that it won't try and find/download and install drivers via windows update so turn this off for now
3. Now when I finished the rest of the setup and got into Windows I simply downloaded the realtek AMD driver from: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/down...Down=false
Select "ATI HDMI Audio Device" (2.70) and run and install this.
4. Restart your PC and you will have the HDMI audio working now. I tested this with the AMD Catalyst Drivers too and it did work ok too but I'd read in a few places it was better to use the R... Read more

I have Win7 ultimate, 2xNvidia 480GTX running in SLI and an ASUS VE278 monitor. It works fine using DVI but when I connect the monitor to the gc with the HDMI cable and switch the monitor to HDMI mode I get the Windows background, but no mouse pointer or anything to work with. I'm having an issue with my monitor displaying anything during the upgrade from 64bit Vista Ultimate to 64bit 7 Ultimate. I've searched the forums a bit but it seems like most similar problems, the user is able to boot into safe.

The BIOS screen comes up, followed by the "starting Windows" screen, then monitor goes to Digital Powersave Mode and turns black. I'm guessing it is a driver issue but I'm unable to continue setup after Win logo or boot into safe mode. If I try to boot from safe, it comes up with an error of "Cannot continue setup from safe mode, please restart" or something of the sort.

Any suggestions? I've tried an analog connection from the onboard and svideo to my tv since those are the other ports available on my card/board.

I apologize if this question has been answered before, but I couldn't find it.

I'm running dual monitors on a laptop, the set up works fine with one minor exception. When I try to view videos in quicktime or windows media player it outputs in full screen to the monitor that the player is not on. This also happens with videos in browsers. http://members.aol.com/jrzycrim01/mozilla/wmp/vidtest-HS.html is an example of this happening. I can only assume it has to do with my video codec, I am using the windows defaults and cyberlink powerDVD as my mpeg2 decoder.

HI, i installed Fedora 5 on my laptop yesterday (got rid of windows completely, not dual booting) and it went okay, everything seemed to be working (except didnt manage to get my wireless notebook card or pen drive working but thats just driver/mounting issues i guess), but since I shut down when I boot up theres no signal to my monitor at all, it just stays blank. It sounds like its starting up normally (fans start going etc) but it just isnt recognising the monitor or something. I could really do with some help with this as I like to use my laptop regularly at college. If you need any particular specs just say and i think i can find them.

Hey guys, I am starting to experiemnt with overclocking my nVidia 8800 GTS 640mb. I was reading a guide from benchmarkreviews.com and they told me to download a program called, ATiTools (which works with nVidia cards btw). When I try to overclock I get this message,

"The video card you selected for overcloking does not seem to be used by windows...visual testing has been disabled...To fix this go to display properties, settings, and enable monitor output for the card."

Well I followed the instructions but I can't seem to find anything to fix this situation, am I missing something very simple or is this a larger problem? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello all...

Not sure if this is the right section for this, and searches keep sending me to a blank page, so apologies if this has already been answered.

So.. I bought an ICY Box media player that supposedly outputs to a VGA monitor. The image quality is terrible. however it is fine when plugged into a TV using rca to rca (?) (which I guess most multimedia players are designed for, hence going for this media player model as I specifically need to output video files directly to a monitor). There's a five cable connector outputting to vga where I believe the problem is. Any ideas how to resolve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks K

Hello everybody! Sorry for any error but I am from Italy.

I have a problem with Windows 10 installed on my Macbook Pro Retina 13".
When I am in battery mode and monitor turns off for the energy saving (whatever interval time I choose), if I have not any app using the audio (for example Media Player), the computer disconnects the audio output. So, the sound come out from the internal speakers. I can just solve disconnecting and connecting again the jack in the audio output.

If I run a music program, I have no problem.

If I use the power cable, I have no problem. With or without any music program running.

How can I solve this issue?

Hope I was quite clear explaining my problem.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

Ive been having some problems recently installing win7 as a complete fresh install ( formatting HD and all that )
The short story is that it gets as fas as rebooting first time, starting services and then a black screen nothing more.
Everything is pointing to a problem with the graphics/video card and after some searching on here i found that i could reset the Cmos using a jumper on the 2 pins marked which i found easily and followed instructions. Now when i switch on the pc the monitor comes up with a little box saying can't find signal going to sleep.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!! What a nightmare!!!

What can i do seeing as my motherboard has no onboard graphics and the monitor uses the graphics card to connect via adapter.

Thanks for your time,

Sue x

A:Reset CMOS using pins now monitor can't find an output?

When you reset the CMOS it returns all the BIOS settings to the default settings, so you will need to enter the motherboard set up & reset all the Hard Drive & other settings as they were before you reset the CMOS. Also you will need to reset the time & date.
I assume that you returned the jumper to the original pins after you did the reset.

On bootup on my Win 7 64-bit desktop nothing appeared on the monitor , just a completely black screen .

I realise this could be due to several causes - monitor failure , video card problems etc and I have yet to check these out but my reason for posting here before I do these basic checks is that this problem is accompanied by an unusual response to the Power button which did not exist before as far as I am aware.

When I got this black screen I pressed the power button to switch the PC off . normally this requires you to hold this button down for about 5-10 secs . This time when I did this the PC started to power up again and , to prevent this , I now have to hold this button down for , at least 30 secs or so , before the PC stays off.
Could this power button anomaly be related to this black screen ? .

A:No output to Monitor together with unusual response from Start Button

Hi there
First - Did you see the Bios screen before Windows boots up.

To get the Bios usually hit something like Del or F8 (depends on your computer).

If you don't see the BIOS then you are in trouble but at least lets's start from this point.

If you DON'T see the BIOS is the computer switched on -- you should be able to hear the fan / disks etc on a desktop.

Can't proceed with any more diagnostics until you supply this information.

( I assume you've obviously checked the ultimate obvious stuff 1) cable still attached between computer and monitor, and 2 Monitor is switched on and working).

Even if the monitor is NOT plugged in to the computer you should always be able to tell if its working since you can press the setup / menu buttons on it -- and if it's a TV -as well even easier just switch to a TV channel.

Cheers
jimbo

Hi buddy,

Have you already tested it with ?factory settings?? I mean the preinstalled Windows from Toshiba with all drivers and tools. If you have the Toshiba recovery disk you should boot from this disk and install Windows with all drivers and tools.

Furthermore you can switch between external and internal monitor using FN+F5 key combination. Does this work?

hey
well i am new to this lark, but i decided to build a pc without knowing really what i was getting myself into

okay, so i haven't got it working as of yet, no power to keyboard or mouse, both usb, and no output to monitor. lights and fans all come on though? so that means there must be some power?

i have removed everything but the mobo, psu, cpu and screen/mouse.
also, have 2 processors and it doesn't work with either
the motherboard was sent back to the supplier to check for faults but it works fine apparently.
No video cards or anything like that.

I'm at a bit of a loss really

like i said i haven't even got it working yet!

help much appreciated

A:Newbie PC build no power to keyboard/mouse, no output to monitor

complete specs would be nice; it would give us an idea of what hardware you're using. it could be something as simple as an underpowered PSU or faulty RAM. make sure the processor is seated correctly and that the memory sticks are properly clipped into place.

I've had my computer for about four years. It worked as intended until early today, when I tried to turn it on and I noticed that the mobo beeped unusually and I'd get no signal on my monitor. Everything else powers up, fans, cd drives and I can also hear the hard drives. The computer sounds as if it boots correctly, but I get no monitor signal.

I tried looking through Intel's documentation for my mobo but I just couldn't find a beep or POST table.

I get a long beep (3 seconds) plus two short beeps that last about half a second each. I usually get a single one second beep.

Help appreciated.

Hello i am an owner of a Dell inspiron 3542 i7 with 840m. I have a question that the tech support in Greece couldn't solve. When i plug the hdmi on my laptop and i connect it to a screen if the screen is bigger then 19' then everything is messed up. The colors the resolution everything. I noticed that the hdmi is connected to the integrated graphics card which powers the display of the laptop of course and has and output of 1300sth resolution. So when i connect it my laptop with an external monitor i cant see anything right from resolution or colors side.Is this normal? there is nothing wrong with graphics card the discrete and the integrated are perfectly working i cant just get passed this issue though..

I am connecting both monitors to a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.

When the monitors are connected to the laptop, both monitors have the same image and the laptop has a different image.

How do I go about setting this up to return 3 separate images?

If 3 separate images is not an option without purchasing something very costly, Is it possible to return separate images on the monitors.

Thanks

A:3 Monitor Support

A simple VGA Y-splitter puts the same electrical signals on both outputs. There is no way it can support showing a different image on each output. You are going to be limited to having one image on the laptop screen and one different image coming out of the laptop's VGA connector.

I currently run a 2 monitor setup (video card has 2 DVI ports). I want to add a 3rd (and don't want to buy a new vid card - it seems there aren't many with 3 dvi ports on newegg). This led me to beleive that there's probably a way to do it without a different card. I don't think these will necessarily work but...can I:

1. Use a DVI splitter to achieve a 3rd monitor
2. Use the motherboard's onboard vid card single DVI slot for the 3rd port (in conjunction with the video card's 2).
3. ???

A:3rd monitor support

1. Won't work.
2. Probably. It does work on my Del XPS, but not very well. By the way, two identical cards works great for 4 monitors.
3. I use a Matrox TripleHead2Go for my three monitors (http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/)

Hi everybody I have been searching for quite some time for multiple monitor solutions What I want is the ability to split my desktop between three monitors no gaming This is so I can have video lectures on one monitor write on another and in 7 3+ support monitor Win have resource data on the third I'm sick of switching between views to get data I have found the ATI video card which supports monitors with Eyefinity but you MUST use a Display Port hookup for one monitor If you don't have a Diplay Port monitor then you must get an active adapter which is backordered everywhere Plus it is expensive I want to either slap 3+ monitor support in Win 7 two slim video cards into a system or use the onboard video and put in one more video card to get to monitor support I know that in theory they must have like drivers to be used in Windows under the new setup wince Vista What are my options Has anyone gotten a triple or quad video setup to work under Windows What hardware do 3+ monitor support in Win 7 you have and what'd it cost I want to do this under -ish Thanks Dave

A:3+ monitor support in Win 7

Eyefinity aside, each graphic card can support, now-adays, up to 2 monitors. So, if you want 3, you need pretty much a SLi (nVidia)/Crossfire (ATi/AMD) (i.e. two graphic cards) for the third monitor. If you want a third monitor on a single card, I'm sorry to say but, ATi with Eyefinity is the only solution to you. Btw, all drivers for nVidia and ATi/AMD has Windows 7 drivers with multiple monitors support. No problems there.

Hello Renato and welcome to the forum.

To my best knowledge a monitor doesn't care which operating system you are using and I have difficulty understanding why your monitor is not working.
Have a look here maybe it will help; http://www.aoc-europe.com/en/service-support.html

I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro VGA monitor and would like to increase my colors from 16 to 256. I have just bought a different display card (Diamond Speedstar Pro Rev A2) which will support 256 colors.

Will a VGA monitor support 256 colors by updating the graphics card?

Hey guys i'm not quite sure where to put this thread so i took a guess Anyway i have quot LCD Monitors and when i plug them in Windows does this weird thing were when you select the Dual monitor support? option to extend the desktop spanning from left to right Instead of simply scrolling from the left screen to the right screen with your hand as you usually would with any OS Windows BETA somewhat reverses it were you have to scroll to the left from your st monitor to get the nd monitor sorry if this is really confusing im having a differculty writing this also haha And if you select your monitor on your left to be your primary monitor it will wont do that it will move the it to your right monitor instead so i decided to physically Dual monitor support? switch the monitors around on my desk to get it normal but i don't like the idea of my computer telling Dual monitor support? me what to do hahaha I know its a beta OS but Dual monitor support? its still based somewhat on vista ive got the latest drivers for my graphics card and my graphics card is a NVIDIA GTX so its pretty meaty and it can do dual monitor fine on other os's any of your input would be great guys thanks

A:Dual monitor support?

Hard to understand what you mean.. and if there's a question in your topic ...

But for what I understand. Windows don't know the physical position of your monitors on your desktop. By default it use "video output 1" for left monitor and "video output 2" for right monitor.
But if your left monitor is plugged on the "video output 2", you will have a windows desktop which doesn't correspond to the physical configuration.

I'm not at home so I can tel you exactly the way to do. But as under Vista and as under XP, you can change this settings under the "display settings" You just have to revert the "logical" position of your monitor, so the windows desktop will match to your physical configuration.

If nobody else help you before tonight (GMT+1 here) I'll tell you exactly what you have to do.

hey. Recently I got a new computer. On my previous one i had it set up so that it had 2 monitors working in unison side by side, and apparently i took it for granted, cause' now that I am stuck with just one it seems like everythings cramped and it sucks. On the old computer I had the 2ndary monitor plugged into the low end peripheral graphics card (gc) that came with the system and the primary monitor in the after market 64mb nvidia something. The driver for the new card supported 2 monitors, so i plugged the other monitor into the low end card and it worked pretty much flawlessly. Now though, on the new one, it does not work because it has an onboard gc and the same new card from the old machine. Is it possible to run 2 monitors with the onboard port, and the port on the gc?

A:dual monitor support

Depends on the motherboard. Some permanently disable the on-board adapter when an AGP adapter is detected, some don't.

Mine disables it, but I use a dual output card to drive dual LCD's.

K i have just realized a problem ......or a glitch in windows 7.....i have a dual monitor and when i shift my icons into the other monitor and restart the icons just come back and donot stay in display 2......but come back to the primary monitor.....any buddy have the same problem.....its as though windows dint even save that change of mine.....or does it have an option to put all icons on monitor 2...

A:Dual Monitor Support

I do not have this issue
Icons stay on the second monitor.
For me it works better than under XP and Vista. When the video driver or explorer.exe crash or restart, the icons stay where there are unlike with XP or Vista (less often for the last).

Maybe there's an issue about saving some user pref. in your profile

Try with a new user account to see if it do the same.

Hello TSF community.
I am running a Dual-Monitor system, and I would like to know if there is a way have two applications running simultaneously. Such as having a Video Game open and on one screen, while being able to draw in Google Sketch-up. Currently, If i'm in a game and I click off the in-game screen, it will automatically minimize the program. Is there anyway to get around this in Windows 7?

A:Multi Monitor Support

Hi,

You won't be able to run a full-sized game on one screen and switch to another application on another screen. You can however run the game in maximized Windowed-mode, this should give the effect you're looking for.
