I have a Toshiba lap top using Windows 10. My problem is with the touch screen working and how far the lid is open. When I open the lid approximately 80 to 85 degrees the touch screen works perfectly. When I open the lid any further it will work intermittent or not at all. A comfortable angle went sitting at a desk is about 120 degrees but I can not get it to work consistently. What is wrong? What do I need to fix?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi @Abby501 Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you are having some trouble with your touchscreen. I am happy to assist. My daughter has had the LG Rumor Touch for approximately 2 months and all of a sudden the camera function is not working. When you touch camera app, the view finder swings into place but then goes back to the original screen. The same thing happens when you try to use the video function.
i am having this same problem......does anyone know how to fix this?
I have a Dell laptop, model Vostro A860. OS is Windows 7 Ultimate. Since few weeks ago, suddenly, touch pad stopped working. By connecting an external USB mouse, everything works fine.
Last week, I discovered that on battery mode the touch pad is working fine. I did not see this from the beginning since the laptop is used only during evenings and was always on power.
So, finally, my problem appears only if the laptop is connected to the power supply. Again, an external mouse is working on both cases.
I just want to ask you if you detected this problem before and if you discover any solution: change the driver, adjust the power settings,...? Is very strange that on battery mode is ok everything.
I'm not sure that is a Windows problem or something wrong with the HW.
Hi Welcome to Seven Forums .. You have a very unusual problem there .. In a way you are lucky cause at least it works on Battery which is handy if you need to take the Laptop out with you .. Now you could try another Driver .. See the Link below .. May help or not the question is do you want to mess with things or happy enough the way things are .

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working. I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution. I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but this post piqued my interest. I use the Logitech 620 touch mouse on a Windows 7 box at work. I find a little touchy and has to tweaked. But I haven't tried the 620 on Windows 8. Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.
Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.
If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.
I hope this links helps you.

Yesterday I was on my laptop and before I shut it down it went into what looked like a different mode. I booted it up this morning and it is still in this mode. It looks like touch screen mode but I do not have a touch screen. The icons on the task bar are spaced out and there is a back button on the task bar too which is not normally there. When i right click against the task bar, one of the buttons says "Show touch keyboard button". All of my files are spead out as if to have room for touching if I had a touch screen but I do not. I am finding this very annoying because I cannot get onto my desktop properly and is not in the right mode. Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Check the Touch funtionality in OKR environment.
Turn off the computer and Turn it back on and right away start tapping F2.
Select Recovery. Once in the Recovery screen Test the touchscreen by touching any of the option if it will respond.
If the touchscreen works in OKR Environment, I suggest you perform a One key recovery (expect dataloss).
If the touchscreen still did not work in OKR Environment, I suggest you call Lenovo Technical Team for assistance.

My client told me this was a touch screen, so that is what I ordered. HP 749970-001 touch screen display assembly. It is installed, but not recognized. In order to use it as a touch screen, would I have to replace the motherboard too?Is there a driver available? The display works, it is just not working as a touch screen.
Hi, I've recently formatted my Laptop HP Envy m7-n101dx (touch) and installed Win7 Ultimate (64 bit). I have downloaded all drivers available on HP website and installed on my laptop. There is only one unknown device left (acpi\msft010), and I'm unable to to find the correct driver. My problem is I'm unable to use the touch screen of the laptop, I've googling and found that is there must be a problem with with the Human Interface Device, but when I've checked the Device Manager no Human Interface Device is on the list. Please could anyone help me out. Thanks in advance
Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10? How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7? You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed. You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results. It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for. Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Touch-Screen-of-HP-Envy-m7-n101dx-touch/td-p/5562972
I have a kiosk on which I've just installed 8.1 pro. It has an oem touch screen manufactured by General touch (p/n st6001u). I've installed the driver and it seems to work but Windows still says "no pen or touch available". My customers using the
kiosk will need to type on screen in addition to just clicking. Is there any way to for the OS into touch mode? I believe under 7 there was an option in Windows features but I can't seem to find anything on 8. Google has been no help.

So I have got a Lenovo Y50-70 with 15.6" 3840x2160 UHD Touch Display for about two years now. I've accidentaly dropped my backpack, while the laptop was in it and cracked it's screen so I need to replace it. The screen in the cracked part is working as it was working before the accident, the crack is on the glass. So I was wondering if I can replace my 15.6" 3840x2160 UHD Touch Display with a 15.6" 1920x1080 FHD Non-touch Display? Is it possible?I've read that whether screen you are changing, its working depends on the quantity of pins on the Video signal connector.

Dear all, Happy new year and all
I wonder if you could help...
My husbands laptop this evening will not turn on AT ALL. It was working perfectly well a few days ago:
When the power button is turned on all that happens is the power light turns green. There is no sound coming from the hard drive (the hard drive light doesn't even show). In addition, there doesn't seem to be a fan working. And finally, there is a light strange noise (not a hard drive noise).
I am wondering whether it is a motherboard issue????
Woud creating a recovery bios boot CD help? Would like wipe the hard drive?
The major problem is that the laptop is used for all our business transactions and GASP.... we haven't backed it up, so we could potentially lose very important data
Many thanks and I do hope somebody is out there to help us.
I have an acer aspire M3 581T-6405 series ultrabook, but my screen is broken. Can I replace it with a touch screen from an Acer Aspire M5-583P-6428? When i try to get on games such as halo or gunz the duel (ijji.com) my computer screen breaks down and turns many difforent colors and looks really messed up...If someone could tell me how to fix this problem i would be very gratefull.
Welcome to TSF....
I would try to update the video drivers first and what kind of monitor is it that you have?
When i boot my windows xp home edition machine, the normal login screen appears, but not all of the users and their icons show up. One user and the guest user doesn't display...it is also in a lower resolution, so that may be why the other users don't show up, because there isn't enough room. Even when i click on my user, the first one listed, nothing happens. It doesn't log on, so I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice to get the alternative login screen to appear...and then when i click OK for my user, it logs in. I would like to have it back to the original state of the first login screen...and not have to go through the steps of the other screen. Has anybody ever experienced this before? If so, how did you go about correcting it? Any help is great help. Thanks.
Have you installed software/hardware before all this started happening? What video card do you have in there? Have you done any virus/spyware check before this?

I recently purchased an malfunction? port normal? Or USB malfunction? drive just Hard HP ProBook G I Hard drive malfunction? USB port malfunction? Or just normal? am using two passport compact TB drives with my laptop's two USB ports In normal use there is no problem However when I copy a lot of data from one to the other or from one to the laptop's internal drive the drives keep disconnecting I know this because first I will get a copying error saying either the source or the destination is missing Then I will hear the quot chime quot that Windows makes when a USB device connects or disconnects Then the autoplay window for the Passport drive will appear It seems that it spontaneously disconnects and then reconnects I can continue using it for a time afterward but it always spontaneously disconnects at some point always when I am doing large data transfers I wondered if I have a poor physical connection---the USB plugs seem a bit loose I checked if there is any vibration or movement that could break the connection but so far there is no evidence that anything is moving The disconnection always happens when a lot of data is being transferred while the drives are sitting completely still Any ideas how to debug this
This is a hard situation to diagnose from a distance IMO. "Loose" is somewhat subjective, and barring serious abuse the only kinds of usb connectors & ports I've ever seen fail mechanically are mini and micro USB2 types.
I'd be inclined to suspect the drives first, especially if they are from the same family and were produced around the same time (the "bad batch" phenomenon). Have you tried to reproduce the problem on other machines, or with different drives on your machine?
As photo in link above, the brightness/ color on the computer has gone malfunction. No matter how I changed the brightness, the upper part of the screen doesn't change at all. Hope could get some helps here.
Sounds like your backlight is going and not uniform anymore. Model of the monitor and have you tried it on another source (computer, tv)?http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/392455-need-helps-computer-screen-malfunction.html
I just started getting problems with screen glitches. I have a HP laptop on which the screen jumps up and down every now and then. Two days ago I got a BSOD and since I don't know how to read the information in the dump I decided to upload it here. Please note that I had some problems with the computer a few years ago, but HP fixed it.
Thanks in advance!

Hello potential saviors My computer HP Pavilion dv running Windows Vista was running up malfunction, then black start to screen Symantec without a problem when I noticed that my Symantec icon had a red exclamation point on it I clicked on it to see that the first of two items I cannot recall what they were called but they were the two types of protection that Symantec offers was not working properly Side note My Windows Security Center had been telling me Symantec malfunction, then start up to black screen for a couple of weeks that Symantec was reporting in a format that was not compatible with the Security Center but Symantec itself was telling me that its protections were in place so I ignored the problem I tried to fix the problem but Symantec was only giving me the option to click on a button called quot Options quot and it didn't seem helpful so I tried going to Windows Security Center to fix the problem there but then my screen went black and didn't respond to Control Alt Delete or anything else I tried I forced it to shut down restarted it in safe mode opened Symantec and tried to fix the problem but got an error message about my Symantec registration I restarted the computer normally and opened Symantec but now both items were not working At the top there was a message alerting me to the fact that both forms of protection were not working and there was a button saying quot fix now quot I clicked on that and nothing happened I assumed that my computer had not fully started up at that point and clicked quot fix now quot again after everything seemed to start up I got a black screen with only my mouse on it and it won't respond to anything I forced it to shut down again and am now typing this from another computer Can someone please help me Thank you
Get rid of the symantec. It doesn't work right with Vista, (as you can see), no matter WHAT they claim. Same with Norton, of course, since they are the same company and the same crappy results when used with Vista.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/250927/symantec-malfunction-then-start-up-to-black-screen/
i used comodo cleaner,,the wiper function,,what a mistake, all my shortcuts,, favorites, program access are disabled, all the desktop icons wont finish loading, and they dont work, cant use system restore either,, programs are still there in files , they wont load , all icons for programs will not appear , any ideas where to go to fix this, ?
did it give you the option to back up before wiping? if so you can use that, or try system restore in safe mode.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/shortcuts-malfunction-program-access-malfunction-481178.html
My wife has a Dell Inspiron 1520 (laptop) and she would randomly receive blue screens for a hardware malfunction. The only other thing that was stated on the blue screen is to contact the vendor. A few days ago, her hard drive crashed and I replaced it and reinstalled Windows. She started getting the same blue screens. I am not quite sure what is going on with her computer. I read a similar post and I will include the reports in a zip file. I would appreciate any and all help!

Hey all, I woke up this morning and started using my computer to find that there were white spots on my computer screen that I had not previously noticed. I have had the computer for two years and haven't had any similar issues. There does not appear to be anything wrong with the pixels, as the color changes appropriately - it's just brighter. Furthermore, the bright spots on the screen heat up much more than the rest of the screen, which remains cool. I also noticed that, though this may be a separate issue, the touch screen isn't responding. Here is an image (it's much more noticeable on a white background): http://imgur.com/09sYisg Any help is much appreciated!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Lighter-Spots-on-Computer-Screen-Touch-Screen-Not-Working/td-p/5745362

When i went to launch internet explorer it froze. i restarted the computer and went away and came back to find the blue screen of death saying hardware malfunction. I'm thinking of connecting a 19 inch touch screen to my system to use Media Center and security camera's in my kitchen.
Has anyone got this setup and if so what screen are you using?
it all depends on if you want to be able to use the new "multi-touch" features, if you do you will be very limited to the screens you can buy.http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/27637-touch-screen.html

I have a netbook and a desktop. When Windows 8 comes out, if I install it on my desktop, would I have to get a different monitor to use the touch screen or will it work with any of the newer monitors?
If you want touchscreen capability, you will need a touchscreen. But I am sure Win8 will also work with the traditional gear.http://www.eightforums.com/drivers-hardware/1916-touch-screen.html

Hi every body….any body know what is the best Touch screen software (Kiosk Development Software) please let me know ….thank you.
don't have that much expereince with these, but have a look at this site:
I have recently aquired two touchscreen machines. They are the control unit for cash registers. They are both fairly low spec:
Just like to hear some ideas on what I could do with this with focus on the touch screen.
It would be great to upgrade them and then use them as photo editing computers for cutting and painting on images.
Although I?m not using Windows 7 OS yet, what it has to offer & all that I?ve seen, it's pretty impressive. I'm in the process of deciding whether to go with the upgrade W7 or purchase a new Laptop/Notebook? One concern or complain I must state. I understand that Windows 7 comes with touch screen capabilities, but ONLY works with a human touch? Being physically disabled & cannot use my hands at all I type by using a head-pointer with an eraser for a tip. Yes, I?m not going to be dishonest here, I?m using an aftermarket touch screen with Vista, but I?m leery on how (or if) I can still use it with W7? I don?t know how, but I would just love to get in contact with a MS Developer to express my views. Am I correct in assuming that the touch screen option requires a human finger touch?
W7 isn't limited to touchscreens that only respond to finger operation but to touchscreens whose controllers identify them as HID touch devices, a relatively new category. W7, like its predecessors, recognizes HID mouse devices, which most touchscreens have been until recently. Treating a touchscreen as a mouse has never delivered the best user experience, as it precludes right-click-on-hold, calibration, edge acceleration, and many other valuable facilities. Consequently, vendor-specific drivers, which do provide these facilities, have been used. W7 accepts most of these drivers. In the WDM driver stack, these are lower-level drivers. To the OS, the device still appears to be mouse. Therefore, none of the new touchscreen-specific features of W7 will be available.
The reason that you might have heard that only finger operation is supported is that W7 recognizes as touch devices only those that identify themselves as HID-touch. Of these, only the ones that generate touch-specific events allow you to use gestures and multi-touch. The two technologies most likely to support these are capacitive, which requires finger activation, and wire-matrix digitizer, which requires an electronic pen. W7 can still use other touchscreens, including old ones, but the new capabilities will not be available.
Looking into using a touch screen monitor. I use Windows 7 Home Premium and I understand that Windows Touch is available on the version.
If I would get the monitor, do I need to find drivers or are they include with Win 7?
Is anyone using a touch screen monitor now?
Looking at Windows 8, I have been playing with the Consumer Preview copy and it looks like a touch screen would be useful with Win 8 if a person would decide to upgrade to that.
Hello Jack, welcome to Sevenforums!
Touchscreen is useful, and fun. It is by no means neccessary, however. Windows has a standard driver, but for a touchscreen, you will want to look up the driver on the monitor's manufacturer's website. There are 2 different drivers - 64 and 32 bit. Make sure you get the right one according to your system.
If I were to use touchscreen, it would be because of application(s) that require it, or are easier to use because of it.
R14 touchscreen works at starting and stops after some time. Still works in other windows. Problem resolves after restart and toichscreen stops after sometime.http://community.acer.com/t5/S-and-R-Series-Laptops/R14-touch-screen/td-p/463230
My touch screen stopped working under Windows 8. I tried every step I could find on these forums - disabling the touch screen driver, restarting, updating the driver - with one exception; under Component Tests in my HP Diagnostics UEFI, there is no Touch Screen component listed. It is there under Device Manager etc., but cannot be found in the UEFI. I updated the computer to Windows 10 and the problem remained. I restored the computer to its factory settings and the problem has remained. There is no damage to the computer, which is still quite new, and which works perfectly in every other respect. Previously, the touch screen might stop working and a restart would solve the problem, but it has not worked at all for some time now. Any suggestions?

On my Inspiron 15R 5521 the touch screen stop working
I am using a Lenovo IdeaPad S510p Touch laptop (Running Windows 8, x64 bit), and have recently installed updates after not having updated it for three months.
Now I am having issues with the touch screen. It was working fine before, but now it is not responding to any of my input. The drivers seem to be all up to date, and I've installed all the available updates for my PC.
Does anyone have a solution for my problem? I don't want to have reinstall Windows or anything like that, so please don't suggest it unless I really have to.
Check if is enabled in control pane, you should have option "Pen and Touch"

Beginning with a new OS like 8 seems nice and the product wouldnt be the same without touch tech. I havent got ANY touch equip so maybe one of those fold on screens that usb links the existing screen INTO a touch screen can do the trick? Is there any likely hood of some greatness lost?
I have converted my non touch monitor Phillips 220EW8 21.6 Inch monitor into a touch screen using a 3M touch sensor USB. I have another secondary computer at my workplace which is a HP touchsmart, All I can say It's the same experience you get from the both monitors...If you really interested here is a link..chk it out
I'm planning to buy a new laptop but will never be using the touch screen. Will I lose any functionality in Win10 by just using a mouse and keyboard with a touch-screen laptop? Do touch screen models use a different version of Win10?
BTW, I know I can buy a non-touch screen model and may do that, but we're looking for a large screen and non-touch choices are limited.
There's no problem with that, any icons or tiles are clickable with mouse, just like everywhere else. For touch screen devices there is "Tablet mode" and can be turned off to behave same as any other desktop/laptop. If device doesn't have touch screen, Tablet mode is disabled by default.
Tablet Mode - Turn On or Off in Windows 10
There's no special version of Windows for such cases except for Windows phones.

I have an Acer Aspire R 13 R7-371T-76HR running Windows 8.1. Touch works fine, but I've recently bought an Acer Active stylus/pen and the computer is not recognising it at all. In the back of my mind I have a recollection that I might have turned 'pen' off when I first got the laptop because I didn't have a pen, but that may have been something else as I've tried to find where I might have turned it off so I can turn it on again, but have had no success. Can anyone make a suggestion that may help, please? Vicki

I notice that 7 will have touch screen capability, I'd appreciate any information on setting up, or general data on such.
What I've seen so far is all a little vague.
I HATE TOUCH SCREENS. Also with Swine Flu rearing its ugly head again public touch screens are one of the best (??) ways of transmitting the disease.
Keyboards / buttons of ATM's etc are regularly cleaned but cleaning the screens properly is a much more difficult task.
I noticed my touch screen is not working. So I took several steps to fix it but to no avail. The first step was checking to see if drivers were updated but I could identify where the were located in device manager..2nd step was to load hp support assitant and now that is not helpful because it will not open when I click on ? tabhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Touch-screen-not-working/td-p/5806483

Is there a monitor or some kind of Touch Screen conversion to work on this PC?
Could I dual boot 7 with 8 in a partition after the recovery patition and keep it on there?
so heres the deal i have a imo touch screen that i use as a main screen (dummie) and when windows 7 uploads it doesnt show the windows symbol the screen is black until the windows startup sound comes on and the main destop comes up . is there a way i can change this in DOS so my usb touch screen will work before windows boots. i have a VGA flip down that i havent installed yet and i was hoping to get the touch screen to work in DOS
OK, if I read that right, you are missing the Windows 7 Boot Animation. I'm not sure if these links will help but its some place to start.
No windows 7 boot animation

Oh, thats not DOS, there is no DOS in Windows 7. There is a command shell that you can launch from Windows but its not DOS. The first text based screen you see during boot up is the BIOS POST screen and or your Video cards BIOS screen.
Will a touchscreen monitor to replace my current monitor be all that is required on my system to add that functionality to Windows 8?
As long as it has windows 8 compatable drivers, yes.
The touchscreen is another input device like a mouse or touchpad.
Where can I find a replacement screen fo hp pavillion 15AB220NR?

i'm "disabled" in that i only have 1 arm/hand.
touch screens are USELESS to me. i can't even use an Android. the 1 arm/hand i got can't even spread out the fingers.
so i rely SOLELY on a mouse.
so i'm worried... will i be able to use 8?
Yes. Don't worry about that. It's not going to be touch screen only.
Have a read through the News forum, and other spots and you'll concur.
Last night i went onto my pc and it installed updates by itself, it included a touch screen monitor update, but my monitor does not have touch screen. i can no longer use my mouse, can anyone help me resolove this problem?
many thanks, James
Your not the only one. Where i work at one of our branches a technician rang me and informed me that a few ppl had been on phone with the same problem. Apparently, and i havent witnessed it yet, but a driver roll back will sort it, as how to stop it auto updating again..........http://www.vistax64.com/windows-updates/204156-touch-screen-update.html
Hi I m trying to get a new viewsonic touchscreen monitor to work on an old xp system and cannot get the touch part to work I tested the screen on my work laptop which runs xp and all worked ok I ve also tested it on my windows desktop PC All nice and touchy However on the older xp screen 'touching'! not win touch compaq presario system running windows xp I cannot get the touch to work XP is up to date SP I ve installed the drivers through that touch screen not 'touching'! win xp came with the monitor and the system recognised the new hardware and appears to have installed a HID compaitabile device in deveice manager I ve tried updating drivers but no joy The system used to run an older touch screen which recently gave up hence the new replacement it had MT touch software installed and I ve removed this in case there was a conflict later in my attempts to get it to work Any suggestions on how I can get this to work Thanks you nbsp
you won't get multi-touch to work, but here's a solution for "regular" touch i found on amazon.com:
“The kind folks at Viewsonic have carefully concealed the fact that, as shipped, the touch-screen function of this model does not work under Windows XP.
Yes, if you read the user guide, it says "connect the USB cable to your Windows 7 system," but that's the ONLY indication that this much-ballyhooed touchscreen monitor is a touchscreen ONLY if you have W7.
In fact, if you e-mail them, they will say that no XP driver is available.
HOWEVER, the touchscreen "guts" of the monitor identify themselves as a "Taction" touchscreen, which is actually made by Quanta. The HP L2105tm touchscreen monitor is based on the same hardware, and the HP driver (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=382087&prodSeriesId=4031739&prodNameId=4031753&swEnvOID=228&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=vc-78373-1) will work with it.
It's a nice monitor, at a good price, but it loses 3 stars because (a) it doesn't come with an XP driver, and (b) Viewsonic incorrectly says that none is available.
This is the kind of baloney that drives me crazy. Shame, shame, shame.”
My touchscreen will all of a sudden act like someone is touching it all over the place....if I close the laptop up and reopen...usually it resets for awhile....but will come back.....of course right at the wrong time.....the mouse pointer goes wild...jumping all over the screen trying to get to wherever the ghost has touched!!! I have tried drivers...uodated software etc....no help yet!!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Touch-screen-pad-going-nuts/td-p/5709013
