Burning & then says wrong volume

Q: Burning & then says wrong volume

Hi everyone,
My name is Amanda, mommy of 2. Know some about computers but not everything and I don't know how to fix this. I have been using my burner just fine for days, now all of a sudden it's saying Wrong Volume, some type of error message like that. It has said that before with please insert Audio cd or it will say some other weird insert the file name.
So I'm not sure what's going on. What happen from a few days ago to now? I've been having this problem for the last couple of days now & I just got this computer like a week ago. So I'm trying to see if I just need to take all my stuff off of here (which isn't a lot) And just get a different computer.

Help please!!!

Amanda Webb
Thanks for reading and if you can help I really appreciate it.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Describe the computer, and whether a desktop or laptop... and tell us how frequently you burn items to a disk. Those units do wear out, and are one of the high volume failures on some computers.

I keep getting this message whenever I need to open up the task manager. It has become an annoyance, but now I am wondering if it is something I should be concerned about. Here's what it says:
Windows-Wrong Volume
Exception Processing Message 0x0000012 Parameters 0x7618023C 0x7618023C 0x7618023C 0x868FC54C 0x7618023C
Anyone have any idea what that means?

Apparently after I shut down and rebooted the computer, message went away in its entirety. Is this related to the UnrealTournament 2004 patch I just downloaded and installed? Otherwise I am good to go I assume.

When I turn my computer on, on the boot when it checks the hd size it reads it as 130gb when it is only 30gb. This prevents windows from loading. I can access CMOS and fix the error but it will happen next time I boot up. Heard of this?

Hi,

I am in a position at work in which people often bring CDs to me to view contents. After spending a few minutes viewing the contents I eject the CD and give it back to its owner. In my haste, I often eject it too soon after closing the files/applications on the cd. I then get a "Windows - Wrong Volume" error as the computer is obviously looking for the CD I ejected. The only way I have figured out to get rid of this error is to restart my computer. This delays my workflow significantly. Is there a way to get rid of this error and "re-set" the cd drive to accept a new cd without having to restart the computer?

Thanks

A:Wrong Volume error

Hi,

When this error appears, try right clicking the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, go into task manager and end the task from either the applications or process tab? I know it doesn't get rid of it but it may save time.

Last week when I burned my mpg movie files with nero, vcd format, it went great. This week, instead of the movie file being burned, all these other folders and files were burned instead. It is a list of about 5 folders you see in the video1 screen that comes up after the wizard (ext, mpeg, vcd, etc.) I'm sure I'm doing everything exactly the same way as last week, dragging the movie file from the browser after the wizard...hitting the burn button. I'm obviously new to nero. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

What Brand Blanks are you using? Sometimes you can get a bad batch of discs from any manufacturer, but some brands seem to have them more often than others. I have the worst luck with Sony Blanks ( I have better luck with Walmart Generic Durabrand discs), I usually use TDK or Memorex and have had like two coasters in the last 2 years using these discs, and I use about 75 to 80 discs a month.

A:DVD burning gone wrong now disc showing nothing

Burning multiple sessions to a DVD-R disk is most likely the problem. (Ideally, you should be using an external hard drive to backup) You should use DVD-RW, rewritable, disks and just burn everything in one session, close the disk; then move onto next DVD-RW, burn everything, close disk. continue this until you are back to the original disk in a rotation, then erase the disk, and continue on.
As for why you cannot see data on the DVD-R disk, it's most likely because of the multiple sessions. On a DVD-R or +R disk you should burn once, and be done with it. You might be able to recover data with a 3rd party program, but since it's optical media my hopes are not high. Be sure to have the "show hidden files & folders" option ticked on so maybe, if the files are hidden on the DVD-R disk you might be able to see them.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I hope this helps you in the future.

All I did was burn one song onto a blank Maxell CD-R (using Windows Media Player).
The CD-R is 700mb 80 min.

I then tried sending songs (with VLC icons next to them) to the same Maxell CD as above (via VLC's interface) but they refused to burn onto the CD, rather I either got error messages that I need to insert a "blank writable CD" or else a message that the disk is full, or else the DVD/RW drive automatically ejected, refusing to burn.

I also experimentally dragged one of the VLC songs to the Windows Media Player Burn-List area, then tried burning it, but also got a message or an automatic ejection.

This is ridiculous, considering that i only burned one short song.

Using Windows Live Mail 2011 in Windows 7 - I receive the following error on any email in which I select an HTML link. This occurs in my roadrunner email and my hotmail.
wlmail - Wrong Volume "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume MFL_PRO into drive D:." I searched the Windows Live support forum, I found 5 occurrences of this same problem but no resolution is offered in any of those posts. Obviously there's something going on. MFL_PRO is associated with my Brother printer. This was probably the last SW I installed via the CD drive if that provides a clue. If I insert the driver disc then I don't get the error but I can't leave it that way. I have included a screenshot.

Try to do a repair of WLM. Go to Programs and Features, highlight Windows Live Essentials, click the button at the top "repair" and in the next window select "repair". It will repair all components of Essentials that were installed, including Mail. (You might also try to repair the printer installation the same way.)

Recently, when I plug in my iPod and try to disconnect it in iTunes a svchost.exe no disk error pops up. Sometimes after I click Cancel, a svchost.exe wrong volume error follows. I can't disconnect it by pulling out the cable because my iPod is still 'loading' things, and I don't want to damage it. So I disconnect it with Safely Remove Hardware.

I've tried resetting my iPod and reinstalling iTunes. Nothing worked for this, and frankly this is very frustrating.

I had all my files saved on the secondary Western Digital 160GB Sata HDD, it was listed first at the time... But I accidentally deleted the volume on it.. Is there a way to get those files back? I had photos, movies, music, some other important files. The whole reason for having them on that secondary drive was to save them (kicking myself), until I installed Windows 7 on the new 500GB Sata HDD... I got a copy of Paragon Partition Manager 11 Personal ... and going through the Undelete Partition wizard now... Any help? Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

PS. I just did the "delete" option in the Windows 7 installation section for "advanced options", the HDDs were there.. but I accidentally hit delete on the 160GB instead... That's all I did with the drive though.

A:Went through to Windows 7 installation, deleted wrong HDD volume..

To try and answer your question; yes and no. You can take the drive and try to have it professionally recovered. There are some companies out there that specifically recover data from these types of situations. This can be very expensive and no guarantee. I know this not what you wanted to here.

I have 3 hdd in my system and have made notations as to the location of each drive and how the OS see's each of them...ie 0 is hard drive 1, 1 is hard drive 2 and 2 is hard drive 3, which is the way I have mine installed in the hdd cage...I know that hdd 0 is the 1TB drive and hdd 1 and 2 are 320 GB for backups and data storage. Keeping in mind each drive letter that the OS assigns to each of them. So when a re-install of the OS comes along I know what hdd is what and where.

First of all, don't write anything to it yet. It only decreases the possibilities to recover data.

A:Wrong Volume Being Pointed To In Dual Boot System?

In Windows 7 Disk Mgmt add a Drive Letter for Windows 10, then add Windows 10 using EasyBCD which is the correct way another OS is added. Drive Letter - Add, Change, or Remove in Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

How was Windows 10 installed on the PC? If you unplugged the other drive during its install then ideally you would boot the choice of OS by setting preferred to boot first in BIOS Boot Priority Order, then trigger the other using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key.

A:BSOD:Unmountable Boot Volume, whats wrong? and How do I fix it? Detailed please

It sounds like your hard drive may have a bad sector or there may be some file corruption. You have 2 options here. It would help to confirm the diagnosis if you can tell us what you were doing when this error started.

1). Boot into safe mode and run "chkdsk /r"
- it is possible your computer will not boot into safe mode either depending on what the problem is. If it won't just let us know.

2). Boot to the recovery console on your Windows XP cd and run "chkdsk /p /r" from there.

Let us know how that goes and we can suggest something else if that does not resolve your issue.
My brother's PC did that same thing after he installed a second hard drive and some more RAM, hopefully yours will be as easy to fix as his was.

You probably haven't received responses on this because your comments are contradictory. On the one hand, you say "everything is back", but then you say "i lost everything".

Which one is the case?

Hi,

I've an external drive that has two partitions. I wanted to merge them and Clicked Delete Volume on Windows 7 Disk Management......but on the wrong partition.

There's no undo feature :-(

I've seen this but understand it only works on Windows 2000 and XP. How To Recover an Accidentally Deleted NTFS or FAT32 Dynamic Volume

I've also seen this Free Partition Recovery Wizard - recover deleted, lost partitions with EaseUS Partition Master.

I havn't done anything to the drive and don't want to do the wrong thing in case I start loosing data.

Has anyone used "EaseUS Partition Master" once it's restored the partitions are all the files intact? Or do I then need to use a file undeleter? I had about 91GB of data on the partition and don't have another drive at the moment with that much free?

Are there other software downloads that can help me?

Many Thanks
Louis

A:Clicked Delete Volume on wrong partition in Disk Management

I took a gamble.....

The key here was that I did not do anything with Windows or the drive, once I deleted the Volume.

Recover Deleted Partitions. Undelete Partition. Unerase Partition. Restore Partition - EaseUS Partition Recovery and Partition Table Doctor was perfect.

EaseUS Partition Recovery for free restored the partition and this included all files on the partition so no need for an undelete too.

Cheers

I'm not sure if this happened with 5.55, but with 5.56, when I hit the volume up or down on my keyboard to turn the sound down for everything, it turns down winamp's volume bar too. Sometimes I can move winamp's volume bar up and down and it won't even be working. What causes this? It's pretty annoying for the music to turn down twice as fast or winamp's volume bar to not even work at all.EDIT: Moved to a more appropriate forum

Nero Burning ROM crashed during burning and now my DVD drive is unusable. I cannot open the drive, I cannot shut down the computer because it says "Waiting for DVD Drive D:" and the drive runs like it is still burning despite the program doing the burning is no longer open. It isn't even in any process. What can I do to make the drive stop?

A:Nero Burning ROM crashing caused perpetual burning from DVD Drive

Go to Task Manager...shut the system down from there.

Turn system off....hard shutdown if necessary...disconnect the optical drive.

Sounds to me like it's a hardware problem moreso than a software problem if you cannot manually open the drive.

So I have a Blue Yeti and I'm an online animator voice actor Whenever I record audio on my Blue Yeti OR any other mic I record about - inches from the mic and turn the gain down enough that the audio doesn't peak as I yell or whatever This is what you're supposed to do if you don't want your audio levels peaking and making your recording sound horrible and corrupted However afterwards it means I have really quite recordings Not a problem right Now that it's recorded right I can boost the volume of the entire clip afterwards right WRONG I'm not an audio expert so I must be missing something But why in GODS NAME would the audio distort and peak AFTER it's recorded successfully It's all there it's all clean audio If I turn the volume on my speakers all the way up it sounds CRYSTAL distorts increasing volume Blue Recording Yeti, audio volume Soft with CLEAR All I want to do is do that INSIDE the computer so that when I upload it to youtube people don't have to turn their speakers so far up But if I increase the clips volume in the computer it distorts It sounds awful Why I tried in Sony Acid and Audacity and they both do the same thing Why Soft Recording volume with Blue Yeti, increasing volume distorts audio I seriously don't understand what I'm missing here I can take sound effects and recordings made by other producers and crank them up nice and loud but mine just fall apart If anyone understands audio stuff please tell me what I'm doing wrong

A:Soft Recording volume with Blue Yeti, increasing volume distorts audio

I have a home recording studio using Sonar X1 software.

I don't know about Acid, but it should allow clean recordings. Audacity the same way.

I record, generally, in the -10 level with my recording program, at 24 bits/44.1 Khz. At -10, I have plenty of headroom and can then adjust the levels after the recordings and at mixdown. I export the mix as a standard 16 bit/44.1Khz wav file and then "finalize" whatever I want to do to the song, including levels, with "Goldwave" (an audio editior).

I assume you are converting the audio to MP3? If that is the case, that may be where the distortion is occuring? I find that 128Kb MP3's are very poor and at a minimum use 198 Kb MP3's.

Hi

I would be gratefull for help, just a week or two my inside and outside (USB) recorders started to work extremly slow.
Using Nero 14 i can see the real recording speed 800 - 1 500 kB/s when using 16x (22 160 kB/S). My usb samsung blu-ray recorder also work very slow - data fo 25 Gb disc takes about 4 hours.
It is a new machine, 16 Gb RAM, 3770K on board so it is a fast one but recording...
I tried deinstaling IDE i decice manager.
I tried Ashampoo, CDburnerXP - all the same.
During recording HDD 0 (c shows 1% usage.
No software in background - just Kaspersky

DVD and Blu-ray have no errors - veryfication ok, surface test also - only very slow.
Tested media: TDK, Sony, Panasonic (all 16x for dvd and 6x for blu-ray)

Please help

Look in Device Manager. Right click on the burners and see if DMA is enabled. Usually when super slow kicks in it's because somehow this setting gets changed to disabled.

Turn Direct Memory Access (DMA) on or off - Microsoft Windows Help

The instructions are for Windows 7 but once you get to Device Manager I'd bet it's the same.

In W8 the quick way to Device Manager is hit Winkey-x then m.

When I burn cd/dvds with Windows 7 built in burning software and windows media player all my burns are successful. When I try to use Nero, CD Burner XP or imgburn, it fails. Have an external USB hard drive caddy with a naked Raptor drive sitting in it which has one partition that is the entire capacity of the Raptor drive...this is an 'active' volume.
1. Can someone tell me if I delete the volume under Computer Management>Disk Management>Delete Volume will this return it to being an 'inactive' volume?
2. Also can you tell me after deletion will I need to initialise the drive in the usual way like when one installs a new drive in a PC?
3. Upon reboot will Windows just offer to initialise it within Disk Management?

I want it to just be a simple, basic, single partition drive just for data backup. In past it was my OS drive which is when it was made an active volume. Using W7/64bit professional.

Hello melb1946Does your keyboard have volume buttons? I know in my experiences I have sometimes run into similar scenarios. In my case the problem was accidentally hitting the volume button on my keyboard. How is your sound setup in Windows 7? Is your monitor set as the default sound device? Do other sound devices increase their volumes?Probably one of the best ways to isolate the problem would be to put the monitor on another computer and see if the sound continues to appear and go up.

I have a truecrypt encrypted volume which is my entire hard drive.  This contains the windows OS and my files(one of many backed up encrypted copies).  I would now like to implement a 2nd truecrypt volume inside this present truecrypt volume.  Truecrypt calls this a hidden volume.  The idea is that at boot-up, you can use one of two passwords.  The one you choose dictates which (the primary or the hidden) volume.  The easy way to do this is to do it when first creating both truecrypt volumes but I did not realize I wanted to create this hidden volume until now.  All of the instructions I have seen require you to dismount the encrypted volume which will host the hidden volume first.  However I can't do that because I need that volume decrypted in order to run the truecrypt software which performs the function.

Any ideas other than decrypting the encrypted volume and starting from scratch?

Before I upgraded to Vista, there use to be a green bar at the bottom of the screen, so whenever you increased/decreased the volume, you would know.

This has disappeared.

Anyone know where a copy of this "OnScreen Display' Tool can be found?

Short Story Wave meter in volume control keeps stopping I googled it seems to Wave volume Control Volume keeps - stopping be a virus Performed a virus scan came up with nothing Did it with another anti-virus program also showed nothing Need help Thanks Long Story So basically I wanted to watch a youtube video When I played Volume Control - Wave volume keeps stopping it there was no sound Thinking it was a simple volume problem I checked the video volume the small icon on Volume Control - Wave volume keeps stopping the taskbar and even went into the control panel to adjust the volume settings I thought it might be my headphones but I tried using the speakers and neither worked I tried doing the voice playback and then I could hear my voice I thought maybe it was fixed Played the video no sound At that point I thought it was my sound card I didn t want to replace it so I kept trying to look for a better solution After much frustration I managed to make my way into the volume control Start - Control Panel - Sounds Speech and Audio Devices - Adjust the System Volume - Audio - Sound Playback Default Device SoundMAX Digital Audio - Volume - Wave I saw that the Wave option was all the way down and moved it up After moving it I could hear the video crystal clear so I closed all the windows I didn t need anymore Well after about seconds the volume shut off again I went back into volume control and the wave bar was all the way down again I raised it and closed the window I was looking for the apply button to become available for I had assumed that not applying settings caused it to stop again The apply button never became available So I closed out again The sound played for another seconds before it stopped I kept trying to raise the bar on the wave option but it would just keep stopping I decided to keep the window open I watched the bar as the video was playing but it didn t fall down The sound did stop but the bar was still where I had raised it As soon as I clicked the bar the sound came back on At this point I kinda figured that I should just google the fix I went and found some forums with this problem and saw that it may have been a virus that was affecting it I went ahead and ran a virus scan using Avast Anti-virus Avast came up with nothing It showed that everything was fine I kept looking for answers but all the solutions suggested a virus I again ran a scan this time using malewarebytes Nothing again Now I m here asking for help Any would be much appreciated Thanks Computer is a Windows XP Professional nbsp

Hello sevenforums,
I just received a new keyboard today: Thermaltake Challenger Ultimate. I went from a Logitech G15.

First thing I did was connect the keyboard and install the software that came along on the CD, it probably also installed the correct drivers. First after this did I uninstall the software and drivers from the old Logitech G15. But before that, and now after, the volume buttons on my new keyboard is still not adjusting the volume when I press them.

A speaker-icon like this shows up when I press the volume buttons, so its not that the keys are not working: (ignore the text behind it, its me writing an assignment)

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong?

I don't think they have altered the Volume limit in Windows 7 but you could always have a play with Graphic equalizer to see if you can increase it a bit there.

A:Very quiet volume although all (?) volume controls are maxed.

As you say the sound over your TV is excellent, there is almost certainly nothing wrong with the performance of your on-board sound. Without seeing them, am I right in thinking that you take a lead from the audio out at the back of your computer to the speakers, and their internal amplifier drives the sound output ?  If so, and this may be very silly, is this lead plugged into the correct socket at the back of the computer ?

Failiing that, see if you can borrow some speakers from a friend, any speakers at all will do. This will enable you to determine if the problem is with your speakers or the sound output.

Hello everyone! I run Windows 8.1, and have been having a strange issue lately. A reformat and fresh install did nothing to help this.

Seemingly at random, in my volume mixer, specific programs will drop to 10% level. If I turn the volume all the way back up, it'll only go back down a bit later. I've tried this with / without my realtek drivers. Also, I've set the option under "Communications" in playback devices to "Do nothing", and this still hasn't helped. Any VoIP programs I use I've turned off ducking, and yet the problem still persists.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

So I recently moved my microphone/headset plugs to the rear jacks of my computer, the reason I did this was because when plugged in to the front jacks, my microphone had a white noise I couldn't get rid of, the rear jacks doesn't have this issue, but my mic volume is quiet

I think it might be a driver issue? I know its not my mic because when plugged in the front, people can hear my voice fine but there's just static noise too, and it's sort of loud

A:Microphone Volume is quiet, even at maximum volume

More PC info is needed. Including what sound and sound driver you have.

The front panel jacks are just an extension of the sound jacks. Usually if there is problem, the front do not work correctly but the read does. Are you plugging the mic into the correct Pink jack? If it were plugged into the wrong jack that can happen.

Ok, i'm new to this CD Burning. I have Nero Express, and i'm having a little problem with it.

I've copied an Audio CD to a CD-R, and it plays fine, but there are still space on it, and i wanted to put a MP3 (it converts to CDA really nice also) together with the already burned tracks, but i can't. Everytime i put the same CD, i get the folloqing message:

"This midia cannot be recorded
Please Insert another midia."

(Sorry if it's not right, cuz i translated from portuguese)

Can i do what i want?? How??

Sorry if it is hard to understand, it is hard to explain.

Thank you

A:Audio CD Burning with Nero Burning Rom

You cannot append any audio files to an disc that has been completed. Once a disc is completed it cannot access the remaining space. Especially with Nero Express. Once a disc is burned it is "closed (finalized)."

This is just a simple explanation.

I believe Roxio's Easy cd creator lets you add files to your disc as long as you don't "finalize" it. Until you finalize it you will not be able to listen to the music.

as soon as i remove the c: drive (mobile rack), and power up, ntldr cannot be found (presumably because windows is looking for a drive that is not there)
i have moved the system files to the sata raid0 and adjusted boot.ini, but this does not help.

how do i move the system volume onto the sil sata raid0 so that i could boot without any other partition? is this possible without re-installing?

mmmm....actually i've had a very similiar problem....not quite sure how i fixed it though. Try updating your drivers for your soundcard, that might help. Also, do you have any errors with any sound drivers of any kind? i know if....kind of nuke some of mine(stupid me) with an anti-adware program....if you have that could be part of the prob, and those usually aren't to hard to fix, just take a little time.

Hi everybody,
since friday we have a strange problem with some clients and ARP answers. We notice that our switch recognize wrong MAC addresses on some ports.
We use wireshark to see what happens and we get the following:
5 clients:

172.30.71.6 (XX:XX:XX:F7:52:75)172.30.41.1 (XX:XX:XX:38:d1:a8)172.30.63.1 (XX:XX:XX:c2:b0:b9)172.30.14.1 (XX:XX:XX:88:c7:4f)172.30.59.1 (XX:XX:XX:7b:67:4d)
Wireshark runs on client 1 (172.30.71.6, promiscuous mod off)
Client 5 (172.30.59.1) send a broadcast arp question (who has 172.30.41.1 - tell 172.30.59.1) and client 1 (172.30.71.6) is sending ARP replies with src = XX:XX:XX: 38:d1:a8.

172.30.41.1 (XX:XX:XX:38:d1:a8) is offline (network cable removed) and 172.30.71.6 has no entry of 172.30.41.1 (XX:XX:XX:38:d1:a8) in his arp cache.
The clients run Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
Why we get these phenomenon and how can we solve it? Is there maybe a problem with some updates of the last patchday?

Thanks for the reply and kind regards

Bernd

I've been having a problem recently with my volume on my laptop, a HP M6-1125dx. I have noticed that slowly over the course of a few days I have to keep turning the volume up higher and higher to have the same volume come out of the speakers. I used to consistantly be able to keep my volume around 15, but now I''m having to turn it up to 40 or 50 after a few days. It goes back to normal after a restart though (even a 'soft' restart) and then blows out my ears because either I've forgotten to turn it down before restarting or windows did it to me automatically.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? I have no idea where I should start since I couldn't find info of anyone having a similar problem.

A:Volume slowly decreases forcing higher and higher volume settings until restart

See if reinstalling the audio drivers helps.

Hi everyone I noticed the volume of my music was not as loud as it was in the past when playing CD s or MP files with Windows Media Player I had the volume turned all the way up Player controls Player control ? Volume volume also Real Media in Media player and Real Player volume control also controls Media Player Volume ? also in Realtek HD Audio Manager but the sound was just not anywhere near as loud as it was before I recently un-installed quot Discover stream hub Discover exe quot and thought that this might have had something to do with it but that does not seem to be the case I decided to try to play an mp file with Realplayer and found that with the volume turned up in realplayer the mp files sounded normal again plenty of volume What surprised me is that if I close Realplayer with it s volume control turned up then open the MP with Medial player it will sound normal in media player plenty of volume If I turn the volume control in Real player all the way down close it then play a file with Media Player there will be no sound at all Somehow the volume control for Realplayer is effecting and overriding the volume control for Media Player Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how this might be happening Has anyone else ever experienced this type of thing It s not a big deal now that I found out what was going on but tracking down problems like this can drive you nuts It seems crazy that the volume control from one program would control the other I m just wondering what might be going on I m using Windows XP Media Center Edition SP On an HP Pavilion a on computer Thanks John nbsp

A:Real Player volume control also controls Media Player Volume ?

Hi John

The reason that this happens is that when you change the volume in real player, it changes the 'Wave' volume for the whole system. I don't pretend to know too much about this but basically, real player changes part of the system volume which also affects the volume in media player. To see this for yourself, open Real Player and then go into Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices under control panel. Click on Advanced Volume Controls under the 'See Also' heading on the left. There should be a column labelled 'Wave'. If you now change the volume in Real Player, you will see this changing also. As a result, it changes the volume system wide. Hope this solves your confusion.

Hiya I'd originally come aboard with the intention of asking why I see one or two quot Generic volume shadow copy quot driver installs EVERY DAY in perfmon Reliability Monitor After reading other threads on this topic I'm now convinced this is related to my leaving a USB drive plugged into my PC for ReadyBoost and ditto for an external USB-attached hard disk for backups My questions have now become I have Generic volume shadow copy entries in the quot Storage volume shadow copies quot element in Device Manager and shadow 98 Device copy, Generic 5 entries Generic Mgr: volume volume my rebuilt Vista install is about weeks old installed on Should I be concerned What can I do to get this number down How do I keep it down The obvious bonehead answer appears to me to be quot Delete them all and keep it up every day or write a script to do likewise quot Is this even reasonable I have quot Generic volume quot entries in the quot Storage Volumes quot element Device Mgr: 98 Generic volume shadow copy, 5 Generic volume entries in Device Manager Same questions as before I can't get any meaningful info from the Properties windows under either Device Mgr: 98 Generic volume shadow copy, 5 Generic volume entries heading though complete coverage of quot Storage Volumes quot and Device Mgr: 98 Generic volume shadow copy, 5 Generic volume entries random sampling of quot Generic volume shadow copy quot entries all say quot The device is working properly quot Any input ideas advice or references that will help me understand how to proceed from here will be greatly appreciated TIA for your help and support --Ed--

Just FYI in scanning elsewhere on the Web I've found other posts that report this same behavior. For example: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-genera...talling-s.html (no resolution). This posting may offer some relief, and recommends uninstalled the USB Root Hub drivers so they can be rediscovered upon bootup: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-genera...ecognized.html. Haven't tried this yet, though, so I don't know if it helps or not.

My ISP (windstream) is claiming nothing is wrong when my town is having trouble connect to internet itself. I don't know about other towns, never go there. I am suppose to have 12 Mb and The most I have had in the past 2 weeks is 3. Friends have even less somehow. Usually 10AM-10PM the average is 300 Kb. I have to pause a video for 10 minutes to load a minute sometimes.

They claim nothing is wrong. Anyone translate that into something that can be wrong?

Hi to all,
Here's a strange one, I've just re-formatted my hard drive and re-installed xp ( not the first time, I prefer this to restore ) anyway I've tried to burn three music disc's using new blank cd-r's. I go through all the motions ( using nero 5.5 ) I do my compilation as normal, hit burn and nero " burns " the disc. When I try and play the disk on my walkman I can skip through the track numbers but get no sound. When I check it out on my pc in my computer it says Free space 0 bytes, Total size 0 bytes. I am sure this is not a hardware problem so what else could it be ?

I've been recording sucessfully with the same set up and software in the past, any suggestions welcome and appreciated.

TIA
