I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello! I would like to start by thanking anyone in advance who can help me fix my problem. Quite often, I get an error message saying "Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows XP(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." The screen turns black and then flashes white. I can only resume use of my computer if I close out all my chrome tabs multiple times and reopen them. Is this a hardware problem? Can it be fixed?

Thanks so much in advance,

I keep receiving this error message. My screen turns black, that message pops up, then everything is fine again... except my adobe programs. When I have them open, and this happens it freezes them and I have to force the program to close and re-open.

This cannot be good for my computer.... any thoughts? I would truly appreciate any help or ideas on resolving this display driver issue.
Thanks so much!

Hello, and Welcome

What is the make and model of the computer? When you look in the system tray of the desktop do you see a small icon that will let you adjust Graphics Properties.  It would look something like this.

Hi dcortes8489.... welcome to the forum
you could try & reinstall the driver in ''safe mode'' the original install may be corrupted somehow....

how hot is your laptop..?? heat could be causing the GFX unit to fail & recover....

and the one I selected at random has Nvidia graphics instead of Intel. Either that or depending on the specs of your 600, if it has one of the Intel i3 or i5 processors with the graphics integrated into the CPU and a separate Nvidia card like this one,

Hi I hope someone can help me I was using the Paint app on my vista when it started to become very slow and unresponsive I was still able to use it but it was very very slow then it started to totally freeze up my computer to where I couldn't even get task manager to come up so I could end the program it got progressively worse and now I can't use the paint app at all I checked the laptop with a diagnostic tool that I found and it said there is a problem with the Intel Graphics Driver Mobile Intel Series Express Chipset family This was not really an error message that popped up it just was a quot Graphics Driver? working MSpaint Intel stopped statement quot that said it was not Intel Graphics Driver? MSpaint stopped working working properly and gave me suggestions on what to do such as checking for driver updates cleaning registry I checked both MS and Intel sites and there are no updates for this driver Intel Graphics Driver? MSpaint stopped working it is up to date I scanned the registry and swept it and I'm still having the problem Still can't use the paint app at all Can I fix this driver Should I do a restore to an earlier date This only started happening a day or so ago Also when I checked the status in device manager it says that the device is working properly That really confused me because one part of the computer says there's a problem and the other says it's working fine I am praying that you're not going to tell me to uninstall and re- install the driver I'm afraid that may be too advanced for me I am only assuming that the paint app stopped working because of the graphics driver this may not be the problem at all I also have gotten that blue screen dump a few times and I have been unable to have automatic updates installed error message quot error handling message quot not sure if that is related I've also been unable to get adobe to update successfully I always get an error stating that update failed So I don't know if any of these things are related to the problem with the paint app or not I don't know if this is a problem with the driver or the card itself or the MSpaint app I guess I was assuming it was the driver maybe could be the card There is an option to upgrade vista on my computer not sure if this would work either I want to install some software called Painter but I will wait on that I'm almost sure it wouldn't work with this problem I know very little about computers so any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated Thank you Pyme Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack HP Pavilion dv Notebook PC Intel core duo CPU T GHz GB -bit OS Driver Date Browser IE Norton Anti-virus Device status This device is working properly

I disabled the Intel HD graphics driver, and used the NVIDIA graphics driver to play the game.  No problem. Disabling the Intel driver resulted in the fan speed reving at a higher speed intermittently.HP Smart Friend support assured me that the higher fan speed behavior would not result in problems with premature hardware failure down the road.  Do you concur? They indicated my choices were to keep the Intel HD graphic driver disabled and use the NVIDIA solely, or live with the problem until HP releases a newer Intel driver - it only affects game playing, all other functions appear to be normal.

I have a HP 6730b that I keep getting the message (after the screen goes black for a few seconds) that "Display Driver Intel Graphics Acceleraor Device for Windows Vista stopped responding and has successfully recovered".  I bought the same computer for my niece, and she has the same problem. When I checked the HP site for this model computer, I can find no drifver mentioned with this name. Also, the fact that it says Windows Vista is odd as both computers run on Windows 7 professional.  Do I dare download the HP Intel HD Graphics with Turbo Boost Technology (International) driver that appears on the HP list for this computer and install it or will that just make matters worse? Both computers are rebuilt by Metro Business Systems. I have called them for advice, but have not yet heard back. Any ideas you have would be appreciated.
Thank you.

A:Display driver Intel graphics accelerator

Here is the HP driver page for Windows 7 - 64 bit for your machine.  You should be fine downloading the Intel HD Graphics with Turbo Boost Technology (International) driver.  Normally if they are not the correct drivers they will not install.  If there is one thing I really like about HP is that they make it easy to get drivers for their equipment.

Hi Sharon, I feel for you but you can try this, I believe this will fix your problem. Based on my experience, this issue is usually happening on the driver version : 10.18.15.4248. Since you have already unisntalled and re-installed display driver and it didn't fix it, I do recommend for you to try using this version : 15.40.14.4352. What I've encountered is if you were to install a driver from Intel website, you'll be getting the message "The driver you install is not validated on this computer", therefore you won't be able to install this driver, unless you uninstall everything and start once you only have Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. You can try the below step instead. It will be a lot faster. Please follow these steps.? Download the driver here. Download the zipfile then decompress/extract it.? Open the extracted folder, then go to Graphics folder. It may say something like this (C:\Users\SuperUser\Downloads\win64_154012.zip\Graphics), then copy the path.? Go to device manager, right click on Intel HD Graphics 530, then select Update Driver.? Select let me pick, then go to Browse my computer for driver software.? Once you're there select have disk, then paste the path, then hit next.? It will install the Intel HD Graphics 530, without the use of the wizard.? Restart the computer.? Check back on device manager, you should have the updated driver that ends with 4352.   Let me know if issue persists.

I get this playing WOW and another game maybe once per session , doesn't seem to have anything to do with any settings I have changed or reduced and I have come to the conclusion it's bad drivers from ATI

Have been wondering whether to install this on my system to try to solve what I suspect could be a graphics related issue when using Adobe Lightroom 2015.4, however, when I check the download page my processor is not listed in the 'This download is valid for the products(s) listed below'

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...-10-15-40-?v=t

My processor is the Intel Core i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz

Would this be ok to install even if it's not listed?

Hello bpatter mate first up don't worry about EUFI that board is - if I amnot terribly wrong a legacy BIOS if you open it up you should see a screen asin my pic. Let us know which type it is please.

The other thing we would like to know is why are you trying to get Intelgraphics driver/s you should only have to use the driver for the GPU http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/82758/en-us the onboard stuff should and again unless Iam terribly wrong cut out auto when you plug in a card

The main thing here is to get SP1 installed ASAP

I have just recently performed an inplace upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 pro and initially my Intel 440 graphics card was working as normal. Over the pass few days my machine kept on rebooting after a few minutes use with the error message of SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (dxgkrnl.sys). I managed to get the OS to use Windows basic one but each time I tried to install the drivers for my Intel 4400 card it will go BSOD and I get the same error message. I also noticed that WIndows Update tried to install the new drivers. I used that method too but again it causes a BSOD. Any ideas how I could fix this please?

Hi all. I've tried NUMEROUS way to make any version of the Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphic driver work on this used HP Envy m4-1150la  machine that works great under a Windows 10 upgrade (everything else was able to be updated and works flawlessly). I've gone back and forth uninstalled, reinstalling, upgrading, etc etc to no avail. I kee getting a Code 43 from Windows ("Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".  I've attempted to get an answer from Intel and Microsoft about this issue to no avail. Anyone encounter this error, or am I just out of luck and have to look into a new product? Thank you.

Hi: Since I don't know what you have tried, if you have not tried this, give it a shot... Uninstall the graphics adapter (check the uninstall driver box too) and restart the machine so you get the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter to show up under the Display Adapters device manager category. Download and install this free file utility.  The second file listed is for 64 bit. http://www.7-zip.org/ Download and save, but do not run this graphics driver file from your notebook's support page. This package provides the driver that enables the IntelHigh-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that arerunning a supported operating system. If high-definition multimediainterface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package alsoinstalls the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp63753.exe After you download the graphics driver file, right click on it and select 7-Zip from the list of options. Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp63753). After that is done go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters device category. Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way. Then restart the PC.

A:display driver has stopped responding windows 7

Akura you have so many threads open on the basic same problem on the same computer I have no idea how I will be able to help.

You have went from Clean install to drivers to computer screen problems to Windows Update problems.
Then to BSOD.

What happened to your log here in your post #10?
This log has been altered.

Yesterday I did a fresh window 7 re-install and ran into a new issue

I keep getting the message:
"Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered." I have received over a dozen warnings in the last 14 days, all when browsing the Internet. I have read a couple threads in regards to the atikmdag errors. I currently have all up to date drivers (10-13-09), Mobo Bios, have ran test on my hardware etc. I have ruled out faulty hardware and my GPU is running at or around 37c to 45c. I am not sure if this warning is result of a faulty driver from ATI? I am RMAing the card back to Newegg and will try one more, if the problem persist looks like I will go a different route. Any help would be appreciated. My specs are filled out.

A:Windows 7 - Display driver has stopped responding

Try updating your chipset drivers from motherboard manufacturer. It's unlikely the card is causing any errors, itself.

Hi all I just got this Dell Inspiron laptop about wks ago i - U GB RAM Windows I did not go for the pre-installed McAfee trial I installed Kaspersky Internet Security It has been several days now that I get a Windows notification saying that Kaspersky firewall nbsp and Windows firewall are disabled I tried turning on Windows firewall but the option remains grayed out When I open Kaspersky it shows that my computer is protected and no mention of anything being disabled I completely removed Kaspersky from the disable and disabled, stopped Intel can't Internet working Windows recovered, graphics HD Firewall Security Kaspersky and touchpad system and only then I was able to turn on Windows firewall Now I am relying on Windows firewall and Windows defender Another thing that has been happening almost daily is nbsp this notification saying that Intel HD Graphics had stopped working and has recovered Kaspersky Internet Security and Windows Firewall disabled, Intel HD graphics stopped working and recovered, can't disable touchpad I don t think I want to reinstall Kaspersky At Best Buy they told me that they use Bitdefender I am leaning towards that but since I have no idea what is going on I just wanna wait a while I hear a lot of complaints about Windows Personally I use Kaspersky Internet Security and Windows Firewall disabled, Intel HD graphics stopped working and recovered, can't disable touchpad Internet Explorer instead of Edge I find it too slow On a previous laptop not Dell I was using Firefox and it worked fine until I took the nbsp bait and installed Windows Since then Firefox crashes upon first run I did not install it on the Inspiron because I didn t want to take a chance I was told at the store that GB of RAM is enough for a home user I don t play any video games Only surf and use Microsoft Office Yeah even with Office apps I have an issue I only use Word and Excel When I press Save the computer becomes a dinosaur that s how slow it is Here I am thinking the guy who sold me this thing was not even a computer grad but a police foundations one Bottom line I don t rely on quot expert quot in-store advice no more because salesmen don t know the product they just want to sell you anything the more expensive the better So any ideas on these issues The Kaspersky firewall and Windows firewall being disabled Who is doing this Could it be incompatibility with OS I mean Windows hates all third party anti-viruses What about the Intel HD Graphics stopped working and has recovered Is that something I should worry about What can I do about it Why is Firefox on first run saying it has stopped working Is this how great Windows is thanks

A:Kaspersky Internet Security and Windows Firewall disabled, Intel HD graphics stopped working and recovered, can't disable touchpad

Hi A6RO81, and welcome to the forum.
As I recently purchased a Dell laptop, maybe I can help you. As you discovered, all Dells come with a pre-installed AV. The most important thing to do, if you did not want McAfee, was to not activate it, and delete it via your control panel. For extra assurance, you can run the uninstall tool (mcpr) from McAfee, which is available here, to completely eliminate McAfee:us.mcafee.com/.../mcpr.asp
Computers do not like duelling AVs, which compete to eliminate threats. This degrades system performance. Kaspersky is a top-notch AV, but if you find it lacking, again you will want to run its uninstall tool, free to download from here:

When you completely uninstall all traces of McAfee and of Kaspersky, your Windows firewall and Windows Defender AV should be working. If not, let us know.
I can't answer all your questions. Suffice it to say that the native Windows 10 firewall, and the Windows Defender AV provide fairly good protection. You just want to be sure that all traces of other AVs have been deleted.
And yes, 8 GB of RAM should suffice for your purposes.

The problem is tried to solve by changing drivers(new, old, updated) and even applied the method suggested by Microsoft by increasing TDR value, etc. But nothing worked.
The graphics card unit is Intel inbuilt.
No solution has ever worked that I have found on Internet

Hey guys I was struggling with the issue of installing the graphic driver of quot Intel GM GME Graphics Controller Driver quot for windows I search a lot through Google and one of the websites I came across is this cool website -- 7 Intel Graphics Windows 82852/82855 for Driver -FINAL GM/GME SOLUTION To be exact I came across this thread Windows - Intel GM GME Graphics Controller Driver Issues And unfortunately what was mentioned did not work for me -- I did not go through all the pages though so if what I am going to share with you is repeated for some all of you then I apologize for wasting your time I also tried DriverMax I made a backup of the driver from windows vista -- it was the previous operating system on my laptop And I tried quot painfully quot to recover the backup but I always get the blue screen So I have to go Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Driver for Windows 7 -FINAL SOLUTION to the quot Safe Mode quot and delete the driver in Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Driver for Windows 7 -FINAL SOLUTION order to make windows work again By the way my laptop is and old Asus one of the A series -- I am not sure if that's important to know anyway To make a long story shorter my case was the common case that I usually read from users who are suffering quot like me quot and others from this issue which is the automatic roll back to the standard VGA driver from windows after the first restart So when I install the driver after long hours of different attempts using different ways I get to a point where I get it work but with a restart requirement Once windows restarts it rolls back to the standard VGA just like I did nothing Now the good news is YOU get to end your journey of suffering just like me Here is the BEST way that worked for me like a charm you just need to follow it carefully and it is sooooo easy to do Thanks to quot Lexxion quot who wrote this great solution Here are the steps Quote Problem When installing GM Series video driver Windows reverts back to Standard VGA adapter after restart The problem is that GM Series video driver is not native for Windows and it will always choose Standard VGA Adapter as native video driver A lot of older laptops have this video chipset I read a lot of tutorials on the net and nothing worked for me So I figured out a UNIVERSAL way to get it to work I think Solution The only driver that worked for me is Intel R Graphics Controller The reason why is that Standard VGA Adapter Win native is the same version but it has newer release date Newest Intel driver did NOT work So get yourself the working video driver below After Windows install you will see that Standard VGA Adapter is installed and there is an exclamation mark on the quot video controller quot In order to install the driver we need to get exclamation mark on quot video controller vga compatible quot This spot is occupied by Standard VGA Adapter Even when you unistall Standard VGA Adapter and install new driver after the reboot Standard VGA Adapter comes back We need to disrupt Standard VGA Adapter from being installed My way of disabling the adapter is to edit the driver file for it quot c windows system drivers vgapnp sys quot There might be another way for letting Windows stop installing Standard VGA Adapter but I did not find it I did NOT use these two links I prefer you download Intel R Graphics Controller Windows Download Download Intel R Graphics Controller Windows Sleep Mode Fixed Thx to pc Download lt lt download this one Instructions STEP Make sure you unistall video drivers that do not work If you see exclamation marks on your previous drivers in Device Manager unistall them Your Device Manager should say that you have Standard VGA Driver installed under Display category and exclamation mark on quot video controller quot Make sure you restart PC when asked STEP We will need to edit quot c windows system drivers vgapnp sys quot file now but there is a problem Windows Vista and Windows will NOT allow you to edit... Hello.

My computer was working fine. Then, in the process of moving, I turned it off for a week or two. When I tried to turn it back on as soon as I log into windows the screen flashes on and off a few times then it resets. There's a little message in the corner that says "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has succesfully reovered"

I can start in safe mode without any problems. I tried updating the drivers at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx?

This does not work for me and I get a message stating 0x80070641 - The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

Any ideas?

A:Display driver igfx stopped responding / windows won't start

I think you need to run windows update readiness tool for vista (32 or 64 depending on which your system is) and then run windows update, and then download and install windows installer, and then install the video driver again. I hesitate to link you to the exact things because I'm not totally sure and I don't want to mess you up. But if no one else replies with a clearer answer (which hopefully they will) then at least this points you in the right direction I think.

There is no such thing as a VLC codec pack!
You might have downloaded something not from VLC that was not needed and is causing the problem.

Hello hello.

I getting on the brinck of crying here. ."

I have a brand new build computer and had the Windows RC installed when i started to get BSOD / nvlddmkm.sys

I have sense installed a genuine Win7 after a lovely reminder from Microsoft.
With the new install i don't get a BSOD, but i do get the "Display Driver Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version xxx.xxx (what ever version of Nvidia driver u have installed) stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

It only happens in games, and i have tried a lot of stuff to get it to work so i can have fun with the new gear. But just can't get a solution. Anyone here who has a experience with this problem and know possible solutions?

I have monitored the TEMP of the GPU but it does not matter if the temp is 55 or 70 c when it crashes.

Hi...I'm running Win7 Home Premium (64-bit), 8Gb RAM, with the chip:
Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology

Graphics is not dedicated and is handled via this Intel chip.
During Windows Updates, MS ones download perfectly.

However, I also get an additional 'optional' update named: 'Intel Corporation - Display - Intel(R) HD Graphics'

This has never succeeded in downloading.
The MS explanation is always the same: possible interruption from my connection to their server...yet never any interruption when I download MS updates at exactly the same time!

After that, I get the usual 'download Mr Fix It' software which proves itself to be utterly useless in helping me find why the download is not succeeding.

I run Avast anti-virus and Zone Alarm firewall...but I can't figure out if they are somehow preventing the download.

I'd appreciate any help on this....

Many thanks

Hey guys, just built a new system with two HD4850 ATI cards and Vista 64. Every so often, my screen flickers and I get the now infamous "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error message. It is getting quite annoying. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Thank you!

A:ATI Drivers causing "display driver stopped responding" errors

Are you using the latest driver set from ATI? Version 8.9? If not I would suggest downloading it from their website and uninstalling your current ones and installing the more up-to-date version.

My computer is going nuts. All of the sudden it everything on the screen went blank then came up in terrible colors and HUGE. It then proceeds to pop up a message that says:

Windows - Display Driver Stopped Responding
The ati2dvg.......

That's the only part of the message I could write down before it rebooted. When it restarts Installation Wizard starts. It asks if it can install the RAID Controller. I do not install it, I also dont know if i have the cd or not it needs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A:"Windows - Display Driver Stopped Responding"

Try reinstalling your display driver. If you don't have the disc then you get the driver you need from ati.com.

I got my HP Notebook - 15-r111nia late last year and want to update the graphic card driver as it is very old (10.18.10.3958) since 2013, to a newer version. I tried using the Intel Driver Update Utility to automatically update it to the newer version but it saying a customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on my computer and so the download button is greyed out. I tried updating the graphics driver manually but it failed to install successfully after downlaoding on several attempts. I am soo fraustrated  now as most of my games are crashing and every recommendations i get from people is to update my graphic card. I would really appreciate anyone kind enough to help me with a link on the right graphic driver update and a work around concerning this issue.  Thanks in advance.

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from a HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's. It appears you have the latest production release of the Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. The only other driver listed on Intel's support website is 14.40.26.4474 which is a BETA version. This BETA driver doesn't appear to address the issue you are having. HP hasn't made it difficult to update the driver. The Intel driver installer is what is telling you it can't install the driver. This is because there is a customized version of the driver on the computer and replacing it with a generic driver may cause issues or loss of functionality of the hardware. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation

I'm running a dell inspiron 1545 (vista 32).

When trying to open the intel graphics driver properties it won't open (no error message)
When I try to change the display settings I get the error message "the currently selected graphics driver can not be used (written for a older version of windows)
When I run dixdiag I get the error that direct input isn't responding.
I tried to download drivers from intel but I got the error message that my machine doesen't meet the system requirements (I'm not entirly sure I picked the right software)

All the drivers from the dell site appear to do nothing and I've updated from direct 9 to 11.

Still no fix

If anyone can help me fix it give me your email and I'll gift you a itunes voucher or something, this problem is causing huge problems for me.

Much appreciated

I have an HP dc7900 at work and the system keeps getting the error "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered". First the user is not playing game and I have updated the video drivers. I also ran DXDIAG.exe and I have looked at the report and I don't see anything abnormal.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this error Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered keeps occurring ??

Hello,

Try uninstalling the current driver completely and re-install the driver from the HP Support site.

Perform the following steps:
-Download Trexxy Driver Fusion from Driver Fusion - The Complete Driver Solution and install it. Don't run the program yet
- First, Uninstall the Intel Graphics driver/software from Control Panel > Uninstall a program and restart
-Now run Driver Fusion, select Intel Display and then select Delete
-After complete restart the PC then install the latest release of the Graphics driver from the HP Support site.

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS L502x, which I bought late 2012. Recently the hard drive became corrupt so I've replaced it and installed Windows 7 on the new hard drive. I've just downloaded and ran the software to detect which drivers I need to install and have downloaded and installed all of them with the exception of the nvidia graphics driver which says I need to install an Intel driver first. I've searched the Dell site but I can't find the Intel driver I need.
Please can you point me to the Intel driver that I need to install?
Cheers,

Hello,

My laptop has Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) on a partition and I am having trouble finding drivers for my graphics card, which is an Intel HD Graphics 4000 model. I have tried my manufacturer's website, Intel's drivers, and all of them don't work. They end up with an error like 'This operating system is not supported.' Also, when I contact support, all they say is to upgrade to Windows 7. When I did get a driver to install, it messed up my screen, so I had to revert to the VGA Graphics Adapter again. If someone could help me find some drivers that were made for Vista or were for Windows 7 but were released quite a long time ago, that would be awesome.

Thanks,
Matthew

I've been trying several different versions of Intel graphics drivers (HD 4000) to fix the BSODs, but keep getting them. I got one during a heavy CPU load (x264 encoding) a couple days ago on the latest Windows 8.1 driver from Intel's site. After a while of looking up drivers I downgraded to a Windows 8 driver (3165), but then got one just now while trying to put my laptop to sleep. I could only upload the info for the most recent one, because before that I had my pagefile disabled.

Thanks

edit: Also, ever since the bsod related to video encoding, I monitor my CPU temps with RealTemp and keep my laptop propped up with a fan underneath.

A:BSODs from Intel graphics drivers

Most laptop video (currently) has dual video cards.
As such, it requires that the OEM carefully match and customize the drivers for each card and the drivers for making them work nicely together.

Using the stock Intel drivers may not be the best solution here. On my Samsung 780 series laptop I have graphics issues when using the Intel-provided graphics drivers and the AMD provided graphics drivers (and have seen the same on systems with nVidia graphics). Cleaning these drivers off and installing the Samsung provided drivers fixes these problems for me - I would suggest the same for you.

There is only 1 memory dump in the uploaded reports. If you're using a disk cleaning program, please stop while we're troubleshooting.

Only 51 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

Beyond this, as there was only 1 memory dump in the upload, I have these suggestions:
1. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
2. If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

A:Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers

removing the old drivers prior to doing an update is of course the best way to go, though isn't required but problems could occur installing over the top of old drivers.

hope doing the update will resolve the issue.

Hello all nbsp I have recently done a completely clean install of Windows on my Y - I am experiencing two graphics related issues nbsp The latest Intel HD Graphics Driver update breaks the display When either updated by Windows Update or myself from Lenovo's website link the update causes the screen to immediately Y40-70 un... display & Graphics Intel breaks update - go blank and stay that way until I go into safe mode and disable the driver in Windows Device Manager nbsp I am unable to use the AMD graphics card Radeon R M Currently Device Manager tells me that the driver for the device is up to date but Catalyst Control Manager cannot see the card and nothing I can do will Y40-70 - Intel Graphics update breaks display & un... make the machine switch to that card I have tried multiple times cleanly uninstalling all AMD everything and reinstalling from both Lenovo's site and AMD's to no avail nbsp I imagine that these problems are related but I'm not sure how Any help would be appreciated Thank you

Hi all, Just recently got my hands on a shiny new W541 and it's hooked up to my Apple Thunderbolt Display using the Thunderbolt port. While this works, the fans are really loud when i.e. opening programs, new tabs in browser etc. I figured that it's because it uses the built-in Intel graphics GPU. Is there any way to "tell" it to use the Nvidia GPU for the thunderbolt port instead of the built-in one? :-) Thanks in advance. All the best, Bo

A:W541 thunderbolt display using intel graphics

Take it up with Lenovo, or buy a dock (apparently that's the solution Lenovo had in mind)!!!

In theory, if the BIOS of the W540 behaved like the BIOS of the W530, then it should allow you to choose whether you want to use built-in Intel HD Graphics exclusively (W530 "integrated") or nVidia Graphics (W530 "discrete graphics"), or some dynamic performance-dependent combination (i.e. W530 "Optimus Mode").  This should be true (and IS true for the W530) no matter whether you're talking about the laptop screen, external monitors connected directly to ports on the W530 laptop, or whether you use external monitors connected through a dock.

The only "wrinkle" for the W530 is that if you have Optimus specified on the W530 then all external monitors are always 100% managed by the nVidia graphics (no matter whether connected directly to the laptop or connected through a dock). So with the W530 in Optimus mode it is actually only the laptop screen which can be controlled by either Intel or nVidia graphics.  For most uses it will be the Intel graphics that controls the laptop screen, unless program graphics performance requirements (as determined by the firmware) find that nVidia is required.  Additionally, you can use nVidia Control panel to theoretically "force" nVidia graphics for specific program windows, but in my experience that doesn't seem to work consistently.

But this very precise choice in the BIOS where the machine actually behaved exactly as you'd expect it to behave per the intuitive meaning of these three BIOS options was only last seen on the W530.  It is NOT the way the BIOS works on W540 and newer machines, where Optimus Mode has pretty much been forced onto the user.  And in particular, in this "new Optimus Mode" for W540 and newer, the Intel Graphics are now ALWAYS USED FOR THE LAPTOP SCREEN AND FOR EXTERNAL MONITORS CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE LAPTOP.  For some reason, nVidia graphics are only 100% used for external monitors connected through a dock!!!  Of course since this really is Optimus Mode, the nVidia graphics will also "kick in" for the laptop screen or external monitors connected directly to the laptop if program graphics performance requirements (as determined by the firmware) justify it.

It is unfortunate (in my opinion) that all Thinkpad laptops W540 and newer have had their BIOS engineering revised to ELIMINATE the ability for the user to specify "discrete graphics" so that the nVidia Graphics is 100% used and the Intel built-in graphics is turned off completely... for the laptop screen, external monitors connected directly to the laptop, and external monitors connected through a dock.

NEVERTHELESS... according to the following description of how graphics works in W540 and newer machines (which is that Optimus Mode is always active, although you can select "basic mode" or "advanced mode"), you simply MUST use Optimus Mode and cannot disable Intel Graphics as you could with the W530.  In theory you can use nVidia Control Panel (3D settings) to specify which programs you want to get nVidia graphics for when those programs' windows have focus), but my experience is that this is really buggy.  My experience is that nVidia graphics kick in (and take over for Intel graphics) reliably only when the firmware determines that graphics performance requirements justify it.

So apparently by design Optimus is always active on W540 and newer machines. You can┤t disable the integrated GPU at all. Here is the description of Optimus Drivers for W541, which describes Standard vs. Advanced mode:

STANDARD and ADVANCED MODE

In Standard mode, all dock displays uses Integrated Graphics as display output
and is limited to a maximum of 3 displays including Computer's LCD.
While in Advanced mode, all dock displays uses Discrete Graphics as display
output and it increases the maximum number of displays to 6 including Compute... Read more
