Two faulty GTX 560 Ti GPUs

Q: Two faulty GTX 560 Ti GPUs

I have two GTX ti GPUs that I need to RMA because they crash when running DX applications at factory speeds these are gigabyte overclocked cards MHz core and the only way to faulty 560 GTX Ti Two GPUs avert the crash is by under-clocking the core I purchased them from two different websites one in March one in June is it necessary to send the Two faulty GTX 560 Ti GPUs correct item to the right retailer i e will they have any way to check serial numbers and things is there any way I could identify which one is which I have them both certain I know which GPU I bought second still has the cover over the DVI port not sure about the packaging though It s a fiddly problem but I feel I need to get to the bottom of it because they probably get a lot of customers cheekily trying to return old broken hardware Both are under warranty and I am fully confident I will be able to exchange them for a replacement refund My brother uses the same GPU and does not experience the same fault I suspect it was an issue with earlier models as he purchased his in september Any advice or ideas nbsp

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The warranty/RMA will be tied to the serial numbers. White sticker with bar code- which should be between the front GPU heatsink screw and the solder points for the cards VRM. I Think most Gigabyte boards only have two stickers attached- the white serial and a green QC.

I believe drivers? faulty BSOD 116 card or graphics faulty the initial crash was caused by overheating Based on the fact that I have gotten it to work for a short amount of time more on that later Booting up with the drivers for my graphics card enabled causes BSOD to appear but when it is disabled everything is fine I can boot into safe mode and I have already reinstalled windows My motherboard is Asus B M-e and my graphics card is Nvidia EV A GTX How I got it to work for a short amount of time I reinstalled windows and then installed my integrated Ethernet driver After that was out of the way I installed and used driver booster to install the rest of my drivers I then noticed there was a missing driver that the program could not install that was named Simple PCI Controller So I thought I should install that driver using my motherboard's driver installation disk It then worked up until I decided to change the settings in Nvidia Control panel I also do not know how faulty graphics cards behave so it might be my graphics card The game I was playing when this started was Life is Strange if that is needed

I recently bought a new, 3rd party power cord for my Toshiba Satellite L300 from eBay.
Recently I've noticed that my battery stops charging earlier and earlier. At first it stopped at 87%, then 83%, then 80% all in one week. I've had the computer for about a year which seems a bit early for it to start degrading so fast, so could it be the power cord?

The Toshiba cord says Model: PA-1750-29, Input: 100-240V~ 50-60Hz 1.5A, Output: 19V[solid line above a dotted line]3.95A
The 3rd party cord says Model: PA-34671ACA, Input: 100-240V~1.5A 50/60Hz, Output: 19V[solid over dotted]3.95A

If the new cord is harmful to my battery, I can just solder its input plug onto the Toshiba charger (that's the only bit that was broken) but I'd rather not risk breaking two power cords if I don't need to.

Sorry card? Solved: Faulty graphics Or motherboard? faulty that this is quite long but I want to give complete details as to the problem rather than just giving a vague problem Nvidia GT card has been overclocked for the last year Original Stable OC Before Solved: Faulty graphics card? Or faulty motherboard? you panic Solved: Faulty graphics card? Or faulty motherboard? it s been stable and temps have been fine lt My motherboard is a Asus P N-E SLI board The computer is dual boot to Vista for general use and XP x for games ONLY XP IS OVERCLOCKED Vista is not overclocked at all Only the GPU is overclocked in the computer Now the problems started when I moved the computer All the games on x crashed unless I underclocked the machine except UT ancient game which garbled the graphics weapon textures on walls etc I found out it was because somehow the card wasn t plugged in properly - so I pushed it back and I was able to play again Since then sometimes the card is alright and other times it isn t The other day I was playing fallout graphics intensive game for around hours without any problems But right now I boot to vista and within a minute it crashes Other times I was programming not even using graphics and the mouse suddenly has a flickering box around it - then the computer crashes When it crashes the screen goes weird colours like its rendered the screen as bit colours rather than bit and shortly after I get a blue screen with it complaining about a graphics DLL At first giving the card a wiggle in the PCI-E slot fixed it Now I ve discovered that when the garbled graphics come up if I physically push the card upwards in the PCI-E slot whilst the PC is still on they go away by this time the computer has crashed amp so I have to reboot anyway It s nothing to do with the drivers I ve reinstalled them on XP and besides the problem happens on both of the OS on the computer Vista seems to be considerably worse though - XP only crashes once in a while whereas Vista seems to be more unstable If you push the card up quickly sometimes Vista quot recovers quot It says quot the display ddriver stopped responding and has recovered quot or something like that You can then use the computer normally If I push the card down when the computer is working fine the computer crashes Any suggestions whether it s the card or the motherboard I removed the card blew dust off it etc put it back into the machine and the problem still happens although it initially solved it I don t want to spend on a new card to find that it s the MB that s the problem I m wondering if the card is fine since it doesn t have an issue with hours of gaming on a good day If it s a lose connection what can I do about it it s fully pushed into the motherboard If you ve read this far thanks nbsp

Two times in the last week my monitor (a KDS visual sensations CRT) has come on with the image looking like an hourglass (wide at the top and bottom, pinched in the center). This happened imediately upon boot up and both times rebooting has returned the monitor to normal, leaving the computer running does not bring the problem back. Which is more likely, that my monitor is beginning to fail or maybe my graphics card (a saphire, ATI radeon 7000) is failing? Is there some way (other than swaping my monitor out and trying another as this seems so far to be an intermitent problem and may not arise when a new monitor is conected) to check and see which it may be?

lol so ive been debating this for a while.

what GPU do you guys think would be best price to performance?

i cant decide between these 3:

GTX 760
R9 280X
GTX 800 series (860 or so when its released)

so im probs going to be buying a gpu in march or so when some big games are coming out, however, which one should i get? i heard that the 800 series are coming out Q1 of 2014.

gaming at 1080p, i just want as many FPS as i can in all games under $300

Too far away and too many variables (price going up/down, new cards, etc) to make any kind of recommendation. Best thing to do would be to start saving based on the most expensive card you're considering and then ask again when it gets much closer to the time of purchase.

A:Two GPUs on my MB

I believe your psu might be a little stretched with 2 of them
1 is no problem but with 2 it would be best to have a minimum 1000w
evga 1000 P2 are pretty reasonably priced and very good.

The minimum power supply for a titan x is 600w

In my gaming rig I have a GTX 660 but I also own two Radeon HD 7870 cards, now my question is fairly simple would the two Radeon cards win in performance over my GTX card or should stick with only one card?

Plus in a not so far distant future I am planning on buying the LG's 34" UltraWide monitor.

Uh hope the title is good, was a bit unsure what to put there!

A:1 GPU vs 2 GPUs

Well the 2 GPUs in theory would be faster then one, however its completely dependent upon the games you play. Sadly Crossfire is far more broken then SLI at this time.
Relevancy 44.29%

Ok quick and easy
What exactly does adding more GPUs to a computer do, does it reduce lag and stuff.

What I thought is: If you have a video card, say 9500GT and the game lags on it, does adding another 9500GT(or better) imrove quality? I saw a dude with 3 EVGA GTX 570s so i wanted to ask. SKyrim is coming so i want a buffed up pc for it.

A:Several GPUs?

It depends. There are two options that I know of depending on who you go with: SLI or Crossfire. With an SLI (NVIDIA) setup you won't really notice a huge difference unless you play in really high resolutions and have all the bells and whistles turned on (AA, shaders, etc. etc.) As far as Crossfire (ATI) I don't really know where you see a performance gain as I haven't played around with that setup yet. You're probably better off just putting down more money for a good video card to start with then trying to set up one of those though. If you have any issues with one card or have to upgrade, you have to figure on replacing all the cards at the same time which in the end can be a lot more expensive.

For an SLI system, the cards can run in parallel, or one can be dedicated to graphics and the other to PhysX effects. If you are thinking about going with either though, I'd suggest reading up on both and doing some research. If you're playing on a 17" monitor, neither is really going to be of any benefit. And SLI is capable of running 3 or 4 cards in parallel as well, but you're really talking a lot of money for that. Also keep in mind you need a motherboard that supports the setup and a power supply beefy enough to handle the extra cards. Not to mention the cards generate a lot of heat, so you're talking cooling issues as well. -- SLI info can be found here and on the NVIDIA forums. -- Crossfire info can be found here.

As for mine, I have a dual SLI setup and run most of my stuff at 1650 x 1080 with everything maxed. I have been able to play pretty much anything I run on it without any issues.

Q: 2 GPUs?

Using my 8400gs, and in everest for example, it shows 2 temps for 2 cards?
or in pcwizard it shows this:

I have onboard disable, even tho i have the nforce chipset drivers install, could that be the cause?

A:2 GPUs?

Your card probably supports 2 monitors via 2 output connectors and that's probably what is being shown. I doubt that the onboard video is what you're seeing there.

I have inherited a beasty PC with an old Nvidia Quadro FX 4500 graphics card. However it is now over two years old and so can't handle modern functions such as CUDA or PhysX, but is still a high resolution quality card. Can you see a problem with adding a second modern graphics card, such as a Geforce 9 series card to the system, ignoring all this SLI and Crossfire stuff and simply running them as separate cards, using my current card as a display driver and the new Cuda enabled card for GPU processing.

A:Multiple GPUs

You'd want to make the new card the main, primary card otherwise any game will use the Quadro card since you cannot specify which card can be used for what and you can't have one monitor connected to two cards without a switch. And if you don't have a second PCI-Express x16 slot then you can't even do that. Your best bet is to sell the Quadro card and get a new Geforce GTX 200 series card.

I know that Nvidia allows for the use of two different GPU's such at an 8800GT and a GTX 280 utilizing the better one for graphics while unloading the physX onto the 8800 however my question is in relevance to the technology. Both GPU's mentioned are DX10 so no problems however I currently have a GTX280 and would like to eventually jump up to the GTX480 however the 280 is based off DX10. Will this be a problem when trying to run both on the same platform?

A:Solved: Using two different GPUs

Nope, shouldn't be a problem with Directx versions. Not sure how much benefit you'll have from using two cards rather then the 480 for everything.

Installing Windows 7 on some computers is not a simple task, especially if compatibility and support problems exist. According to Microsoft, Windows 7 fails to play nice with machines that have an AMD/ATI Radeon graphics processing unit (GPU) leveraging the embedded DisplayPort (eDP) technology. Customers that attempted to install Windows 7 on such computers found that they were unable to complete the deployment.

?When you install Windows 7 on the computer, a black screen is displayed during the installation process. However, the installation is still running. In this situation, you may be unable to complete the installation. If you have multiple displays, only the primary screen is black when you encounter this issue,? Microsoft explained.

Hi xerox203 and welcome to W7 Forums

Whilst both cards are capable of utilising crossfire, they cannot do so together. Both cards need to be from the same family series, i.e. 2x 6000 series or 2x 7000 series. Ideally, both cards should be identical. So that means, in your case, 2x 6870 or 2x 7950.

When both are in the system it almost always freezes. When only one is in the system it does not freeze. Could this be a BIOS issue? (BIOS Screenshot on this page, 9th BIOS picture)

Of my nine boots with varying configurations here are which ones caused freezing: 0/3 7600 GS, 2/3 Both GPUs, 0/3 GTX 285.

Hi guys,
Me and my friend were talking about GPUs on Skype because I'm upgrading mine in July and he's building one soon. My setup is basically a B75M motherboard with a GTX 770 but my friend thinks that having two GTX 660s will be better, but would also require a Z87 to support the SLI. What is better performance-wise and efficiency-wise?

A:Is it better to have 2 decent GPUs or 1 really good one?

Here is what passmark scores those two cards you mentioned.
GTX 660
GTX 770

This is only to give you a basic reference point. Having 2 GTX 660s versus just one 770 in my opinion would be a bad choice mostly because the game has to support SLI and scale well for it to be better than the single 770. On top of that, they would be very close matches in performance as is (SLI 660 vs 1 770) so the choice I would make would be the GTX 770.

This may be a silly question but here it goes. I have a laptop with a Core i5 with Intel HD graphics 4000. It also has an AMD Radeon HD 7650M. Both appear installed as Display adapters in Device manager / Speccy. DXDIAG shows the device name as being Intel HD graphics 4000 with AMD as the manufacturer. The Catalyst Control Center is installed and when right clicking on it on the tray area, the menu reveals the Intel HD 4000 with a submenu for options.
Are both of these being used simultaneously?
Does your computer decide which one to use based on what you're doing?
Do people ever turn one or the other off for any reason?

A:Multiple GPUs - how do they work?

I have a laptop that has 2 GPU's (1) Intel HD Graphics 4000 (2) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M, I'm not too sure how Catalyst Control Center works but with the NVIDIA it is set up to use the Intel graphics first and when needed it will kick in the NVIDIA and turn off the Intel.

On my laptop there is no way to change that either it is part of the NVIDIA drivers.

At a really high level what makes a GPU better at doing certain tasks than a CPU? For example Bitcoin mining and password cracking is better done with video cards and I'm wondering why is there that difference?

A:What is the difference between GPUs and CPUs?

CPU : Small number of computation threads being undertaken at high speed (typically 3+GHz).
GPU : Large number of simple computation threads undertaken at a lower speed (typically ~1GHz)

Yesterday, my GTX 970 of one month also died. It died when I moved my PC out of my room. I'm sensing that there's some sort of connection here.

Another connection is one VERY hot CPU. It runs at 100 degrees Celsius, and that's just when I'm browsing Firefox. I wasn't aware of this until three days ago and I'm not sure if conditions were the same when I was using my 7970.

OverDrive 5 says I have 2 GPUs at 0 MHz and 3 GPUs at 1300 MHz.

How to know whether all GPUs are on and what frequency they are?

A:How to know, how many GPUs are working and what's their frequency?

Try going to Device Manager and click on the Display Devices tab then it will show how many GPUs are installed on your computer.

I would chose the Geforce FX5200 over the Radeon 9550se should find the fx5200 a little more performance wise in the s-video! that is only my opinion!

I currently use three same AOC IPS 24" 1920x1080 screens plugged into one GPU AMD Sapphire R9 280x. It works well on resolution 5940x1080 (incl. bezel compensation). But now, I would like to upgrade my PC with more powerful GPU. I think that 3GPUs for 3 monitors should be the best solution, but in my current case with not the best cooling system and with my current PSU (1200W) is not a good idea. So is it possible to use only two (e.g. both same) GPUs for three (all same) monitors? In other words Are they able to works properly and in balance if physically one GPU will supply one monitor and the other one two monitors?
Many thanks for the advice

A:How to connect three monitors to two GPUs? Please help

A 1200 watt PSU would be fine for 3 GPU`s, but do you need 3 ?

You want to use all the same series GPU`s preferably all made by the same company with the same specs.

You should connect all your monitors to the top GPU.

Unless all 3 PCI Express slots can run all 3 cards at x8 speed, I would only get 2 cards.

A:Enabling Dual-GPUs in Windows

The graphic cards must be INDENTICAL.

Same brand, and same model.

Example: BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC 256MB must be with ANOTHER BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC 256MB to use SLI.

Also there is a little clip thing that connected both cards which enables SLI.

For the past week and a half, we've been hearing rumors citing various dates for the launch of AMD's DirectX 11 graphics cards? ranging from GDC in China to newly invented delays that would push the launch window in to November.

However, all of these rumors are false, given that AMD has firmed its "Cinema 3.0/DirectX 11" launch. As tradition goes, the North American launch will happen in seven weeks in San Francisco on a very special place indeed - but we're not at liberty to say where the event will take place. All we can say is that it will be someplace that neither Intel nor nVidia would even remember.

these DX11 cards are causing quite a stir, its reported the difference is ''supposed'' to be huge.

Anyway, I would like to know if it is possible to assign specific applications to one GPU or another. I'm running Windows 7 and have two 5850s set up in crossfire.

A:Assigning specific programs to different GPUs

Why? What applications?

CrossFireX(CFX) pairs the two cards together, they are used as one. To use them independently you would need to first disable CFX.

I really like Any Video Converter. In the option you can increase 'Threads' to as many cores as you have. It also has a nice batch operation so you can drop in 50 videos then walk away.

A:BSOD with both GPUs on Lenovo Y580

Hi David
Since you are familiar with computers, i will cut the crap and go directly to the troubleshooting. Please follow the below steps.
1. First uninstall both "Intel" and "Nvidia" drivers completely from the system. Laptops require tweaked drivers  specifically created for them rather than generic ones. If the Nividia adapter is disabled via BIOS, please enable it.
2. Then uninstall "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" driver and "Intel Wireless LAN driver" completely. Current versions are not compatible with "Win 8.1".

Crashes are pointing to memory problems or driver conflicts. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

An underlying driver may be incompatible\conflicting with your system. Run Driver Verifier to find any issues. To run Driver Verifier, do the following:a. Backup your system and user files
b. Create a system restore point
c. If you do not have a Windows 7 DVD, Create a system repair disc
d. In Windows 7:Click the Start Menu
Type verifier in Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click verifier and click Run as administrator
Put a tick in Create custom settings (for code developers) and click next
Put a tick in Select individual settings from a full list and click next
Set up the individual settings as in the image and click next
Attachment 213245
Put a tick in Select driver names from a list
Put a tick next to all non-Microsoft drivers.
Click Finish.
Restart your computer.

If Windows cannot start in normal mode with driver verifier running, start in safe mode. If it cannot start in safe mode or normal mode, restore the system restore point using System Restore OPTION TWO.

Thanks to zigzag3143 for contributing to the Verifier steps.
If you are unable to start Windows with all drivers being verified or if the blue screen crashes fail to create .dmp files, run them in groups of 5 or 10 until you find a group that causes blue screen crashes and stores the blue screen .dmp files. The idea with Verifier is to cause the system to crash, so do the things you normally do that cause crashes. After you have a few crashes, upload the crash reports for us to take a look and try to find patterns.

When you are ready to disable Verifier: Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click Command Prompt -> Run as administrator -> Type the following command and then Enter:verifier /reset-> Restart your computer.

Hello guys, I have a question that I can't find an answer on the net anywhere.
If I buy a Sandy Bridge processor such as Core i5 2500K for exaple, this CPU has a GPU inside the CPU right? (HD 3000 right?). Secondly, let's say my motherboard has onboard graphics. So I install a discrete GPU and then I have 3 gpus without crossfire/sli ? How can I use the 3 of them simultaneusly ?
Please answer this question is bugging me for ages xD

A:Three GPUs on system with only one discrete graphics card?

You can't. Your motherboard (Z68 chipset) might support switching between the discrete cards and the on CPU gpu for power saving. But you basically use one or the other. There is no provision for utilizing the power of all 3 graphics systems.

I know for CPUs a higher processor speed is usually better than a slower speed with more cores, I was wondering if the same holds true for GPUs or do other factors come into play.
I ask as I am considering building my own pc and this is one area I can’t get my head around. I tried Googling it but just get answers to the same question for CPUs.

A:GPUs more cores or higher clock speed

No, more cores with slower speeds is better is all situations, especially CPU's. That processing can be done in parrallel is the main advantage of multiple cores (aside from the the necessity of them for heat-dissipation).

Sorry, the title should read "upgrading"

If my graphics card fails, and I have to send it of to Sony, if it's the actual chip that is at fault, would they just replace the chip, or the whole card, and if it is one or the other, can it be replaced with something else?

A:Expert Knowledge Required - Updating GPUs?

No way they replace the chip. The labor cost alone is too high, never mind the admin costs.

You will receive at least a duplicate as a replacement, and it is not unheard of to get a next gen replacement.

It is cheaper for me to give a customer a new mobo than it is to solder on a new PS/2 port. Sad but true.

I have recently purchased all the parts for a computer from Newegg (still waiting for it), with the understanding that the HD graphics capabilities of the Sandy bridge Pentiums will be more than capable of playing back most formats flawlessly (and being able to convert some odd formats to WMC-friendly versions ahead of time), alongside beng used as a sort of download server for the house.

Am I right in believing I can get away witout a graphics card?

I am building a new PC - components arriving over the next week. Going to be an MSI A78M-E45 V2 motherboard with AMD A10-6800K APU, 8 gb Crucial RAM (2x4 gb), and XFX HD-667X-CDFR 2 gb PCIe graphics card. AMD advertises dual GPU capability via Crossfire using both the GPU of the A10 processor and the HD-6670 PCIe card.

Has anyone setup anything like this in Windows 10 before? I'm planning on having to force install the AMD Catalyst 15.7 drivers and Catalyst Control Center, but I hope I can get a success story to boost my hopes!

I'm using a bit older components because I wanted to stay under $300 and it should still be about 4x faster than my current PC.

Password-cracking chip causes security concerns.

A technique for cracking computer passwords using inexpensive off-the-shelf computer graphics hardware is causing a stir in the computer security community.

Using the "massively parallel processing" capabilities of a graphics processing unit (GPU) - the processor normally used to produce realistic graphics for video games, the speed of password cracking was increased by a factor of 25 - and a Russian company has filed for a U.S. patent on the technique.

A:Nvidia removes overclocking from 900M mobile GPUs, a feature advertised on some notebooks

LOL it is clearly a move by Nvidia to force people to upgrade more often. They will probably take the 980m and do the same thing they did with the 680MX -> keep re-releasing it with 10% higher clocks every year.

Problem is that someone with a 680mx could just overclock it 30% and get an 880m. However this should be a problem for Nvidia, not us. If they want us to upgrade, give us something worth upgrading to!

Hi, I am building a new computer and I want to go with a dual screen setup. I was wondering if I should go with a GTX 670 2GB GPU or two Sapphire Radeon 7870s. If not specifically these cards, let me know what you think.
Is it better to have a single GPU with dual DVI output or two slightly cheaper GPUs using crossfire?

A:Dual Screen, Dual DVI GPU vs. 2 Single DVI GPUs

The only thing that changes is the graphics performance you will have.
Two Sapphire HD 7870s beat a single GTX 670, but I'm not a Crossfire fan, so I suggest you to get a faster single GPU, because a lot of applications won't use multi-GPU technology.

My graphics card is fried at the moment, but I also think that either my CPU or RAM is dying. I notice that my computer is running VERY slowly. I'm not sure if this could be contributed to the dead/dying graphics unit, but I'm worried nonetheless.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I have a PCI-E slot that doesn't seem to work with a 9500gt. The 9500gt worked for many months then all of a sudden, no display appeared on my monitor one day. I switched to another PSU (weaker but still adequate), but still the same result. After doing some more hardware changes, I assumed it was a dead motherboard. Luckily I had a friend who had a spare EAH3450 Silent, and it worked! I have been using it ever since and my PC has ran with no problems.

I also tried a 9800gt and still no display. I checked the BIOS menu and saw that the display adapter was on PCI, changed it to PCI-E, but once again the same problem. I am not sure if this is a power problem since the 9500gt has such a low requirement and worked for a period of time. Any suggestions as to what might have happened?

If you 'nudge' the tower and it continues, that might suggest a loose IDE connection.

A while ago I was working on my computer when out of the blue it restarts. I picked the -Start Windows Normally option. Before it even gets to the desktop it would restart all over again. It did this until I removed the RAM sticks from DIMM slots B (slot 3 and 4) Now my computer is really slow. My computer is a HP a250n with 4x 256 ram.

A few days ago I did a full wipe on the HD to see if that would clear up the problem. It works well with only 2 sticks. When I put in the 3rd or/and 4th sticks I get to the desktop fine but only for a few minutes then it restarts and the screen goes blank. I tried switching the sticks but nothing works. What could it be?

Do a memtest
Have you tried swapping the memory sticks from 3-4 with the ones in 1-2?
This will help verify whether it's the sticks or the slots.
The memory test will help also.

A:Faulty cpu or the mb?

Go back to the most basic setup you can imagine...
One memory module, one video connection, and a cd or a simple hard drive... or an external floppy drive with a Windows 98 disk.
Attempt a boot.
If no boot, change to the other memory module. Attempt another boot.

The idea is to try various simple boots, and avoid using the hard drive if you can... use a different hard drive known good with Windows 95 or windows 98 installed... or boot to a floppy boot disk or a CD with Windows 98, 95, or ME disk on it..
Motherboards are pretty solid, and the Intell is one of the better ones. Processors rarely go out.
Common failures are (1) dead memory module, (2) failed power supply, or (3) bad hard drive. Very often if any of those three are bad, the computer will not start up.
Testing the power supply is more difficult. Once simple test is to watch the back of the power supply with a strong light. Have somebody else press the <ON> button while you watch to see if the fan blades on the power supply turn. If they turn only 1/8 turn to 1 turn and quit, the power supply is usually bad and is the likely problem.
Better yet, buy or borrow a power supply tester. They cost anywhere from $9 to $29, depending on quality or complexity.

Intel core i7 870 (base clock)
Intel motherboard dh55pj
Sapphire hd 6870 igb
Transcend ram (4+2) gb
Samsung 500 gb hdd
Thermaltake smartpower 550 watt psu 80+ bronze

Also I borrowed a friends` 6850 gpu+ 450 watt psu to see if there is anu problem in my mobo or processor but it was just fine. But I gave my friend my gpu psu combo and he faced problems like mine after using them for 1 week.
So now I am certain that either my gpu or my psu has gone bad. but I cant know for sure which one.Any helps.....

Does your friend have a 500W PSU so they can test your GPU with their PSU? If they can test just the GPU, it might answer your question.

Actually 500W has head room, a 450W PSU might be enough to test for a week or so.

I'm located in Odessa, FL
Ordering online isn't really an option tho if I absolutely had to I would, I'm more interested in just going to some store and snatching up a new heatsink for it.
