I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys,

I've recently been getting random BSOD when playing games such as The Witcher 3 and Project Cars.

It doesn't seem to be a cpu temp or load issues as max temps are below 60 and load never really gets higher than 50%.

Even after observing the above I think I've traced it to be a CPU problem, but if someone were able to take a look at the attached dump file that would be great.

*edit* I have followed the rules and used the dm log collector now.

Thanks,
Dan

Ive been experiencing a BSOD whenever I play PC games e.g. Rust, CSGO.

I have not been able to find a fix for this I have tried reinstalling drivers for everything and I have also run memtest which found no errors and that is all I could really think that the problem is. This issue mostly occurs after roughly 6-10 minutes of play time, otherwise the PC runs normally. Ive checked to make sure this isn't a cooling issue which it isn't. Ive uploaded a screen cap of speccy to better help with the specs.
also I think this is and unrelated issue but certain windows updates will not install i have attached a image of this too.

A:BSOD when playing MOST steam games

Your dumps are a mixture of mainly hardware fault 124 errors and a graphics driver error which could be a knock on from the 124.

0x124's are typically related to a hardware issue and can only be isolated by stress testing the major components.

If overclocking, reset all overclocks back to their default settings and then follow these:

RAM - run for a minimum of 8 consecutive passes

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

CPU - run the HIGH test

CPU - Stress Test Using IntelBurnTest

Video - run the FURMARK test for 20mins

Graphics Card Problems - Diagnose

Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Storage - run the SHORT test using the DOS version

Hi,

I've been having this problem for a while now but have pretty much just been ignoring it, but its got to the stage where I can't play games without it happening. I've tried googling the errors I get but am not sure if what is coming up is specific to my problem.

I'm running windows 7 x64, I have a GTX 660SC and an i5 3570k processor. I am not overclocked. I have attached the file generated with DM Log collector, if anyone could give me any help it would be much appreciated. I believe the latest blue screen is the most frequently occurring one, although there does seem to be a few that pop up.

A:BSOD When playing some games on Steam

You have a lot of errors with stop code 124. This stop code relates to hardware errors. Analyzing one of the dump file shows that there is problem with CPU cache:

My recommendations are:

- try to monitor processor temperature envinroment with one of the popular utility like HWMonitor;
- try to detect defective capacitors on motheboard
- try to verify work of power suply

Hello
Recently I have been receiving a periodic BSOD on my computer. During game play, the window will become clear and minimise. The game will not recover and the event log shows the following error : "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." The computer continues to function until a game starts. For some games it BSODs on launch, others it happens once it loads a level. I have tried a clean install and driver updates. This does not happen every time, and in some games (such as CS:GO) disabling multi core rendering seems to avoid this issue. Hopefully someone can give me a hand with this.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Bax7er, and welcome to the Forums. I will try to help you if I can. All of your dump files are the same except the first one. The first one says

As you can see, it needs updating. I am going to give you some suggestions of how to get a clean install of the driver and not use a lot of the stuff they include with them which can conflict with other drivers.

I am going to give you some links that will help you get a good clean install and not have any drivers you don't need that will conflict with other drivers. Download a WHQL driver from Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7 . Once you have them downloaded, uninstall you current driver from control panel. next clean up any left over drivers from following this tutorial Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling and select only ATI Display Drivers. After you have done that and rebooted, install the new driver, only select custom install and install only what you have to. Very few people need most of what they include. You do not need the audio/HDMI drivers as you already have that in your Motherboard drivers. Unless there is some reason you need them, the only thing you really need is the Display Driver.

As far as the ZoneAlarm, if it were me I would uninstall it using these instructions Free Antivirus + Firewall Uninstall help. and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials (Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows)

Please do those things and see if they are of any help.

I would also monitor my CPU and GPU temps at all times, especially during gaming.

I also noticed an excessive number of Windows Errors with Bulls and Cows.exe. I would check and see if there are any solutions to it and maybe reinstall the program. Otherwise it really needs to go if it can't be fixed.

Dumps are attached. the BSoD's normally occur while I'm playing certain games on steam, namely Flatout: Ultimate Carnage, Red Orchestra 2, Killing Floor
I have had the computer since Christmas and I had to reinstall windows twice because of Dell technical support being notorious for telling me to wipe my drive and reinstall windows and then they had a tech remote access my computer and download the necessary drivers.

A:BSoD while playing certain games on Steam

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

Quote:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.

A:BSOD while playing Steam games?

Welcome
The best place to start, would be to make sure it is not a driver that is to cause. Im leaning toward hardware, but the reports were not clear at best.

Driver Verifier
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Hello everybody I have built a custom computer couple months ago and began to notice blue screens off and on sometimes it would fix itself and I would not see one for days but now it has become a bit consistent when playing most D applications I performed my own tests to see if any hardware issues might exist I did a memtest with no problems in the memory swapped videos cards installed every single driver from sound card to video card solid state and beyond However I still get this problem I also went into my bios setting to ensure that nothing is overclocking my CPU I had both video cards NON SLI because it would always bsod in sli so I was titles Steam Playing games other BSOD and using one of the cards dedicated for gaming BSOD Playing Steam games and other titles for a little while The problem would only occur when I loaded into a game I would get a black screen and enough time to predict it was going to bsod the game would hang and allow me to alt tab to desktop seconds before everything froze completely BSOD Playing Steam games and other titles and crashed I decided to take one of the video cards out and see if it duplicated the symptom to my surprise I was able to run the game for a little while longer approx - minutes and then it would blue screen again I tried this with the single card three times and continued to have the same issue Otherwise the computer is stable on desktop with no problems so far I have become very frustrated with this build as there are so many hardware components involved and narrowing it down would be difficult without rmaing every single component individually My last resort is to seek help from a BSOD analyst expert to help dictate what the problem could be I would greatly appreciate any time you put in to helping me out in this situation Sincerely Static

Ok, so this is very likely to be a hardware issue. I once had this problem my self, my fix was to clean out the dust. Even though there was none veiwable i took a vacuum and cleaned it. It worked. Now check for dust, dirt etcc. Next if you have overclocked STOP and revert. Follow the posted link above it has all of the needed information. And the most likely solution to your issue. If you are still having problems, i suggest lowering v-core. This do not touch for now though.

And i also suggest running these to help diagnose hardware for any issues.

Stresstests:
Ram : RAM - Test with Memtest86+
General hardware: Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 ( (Three pre-set configurations are available: Small FFTs and In-place FFTs, and Blend. Small and In-place modes primarily test the FPU and the caches of the CPU, whereas the Blend mode tests everything, including the memory.)
Graphics: Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark (Do the above Graphics test only with the latest drivers, and then Run it until the temperatures stop increasing; should be less then 10 minutes. If you don't see any crazy glitches or distortion on the screen, The test most likely passed. Take note if the Temperature gets too high, or you see Visual artifact - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia to stop the test.)

Hello,

2 days ago, I had a couple BSOD errors which occurred when playing "Counter-Strike: GO". I figured that they were related to my graphics drivers, and since then have updated them. The BSOD stopped occuring after that.

Today however, a new BSOD error occured, talking about a potential bios issue, however there was no driver listed and no dump was collected after the issue. Because of this I decided to use verifier.exe to figure out which driver caused the issue.

I followed the steps outlined here and my system did indeed bsod upon startup, before even reaching the user screen.

This dump file should be the most recent one, and the one I am having trouble with. The required files are attached.

Thanks,

Matt

Problem is persisting after reinstalling Windows, can't really pinpoint it to any certain program, since the problem seemed to start right after installing ''the essential'' drivers and stuff from MSI disket that came with the motherboard. I hope the files attached help, I'm sorry for not being tech savvy at all I'm happy to provide additional information if needed, provided that it is not beyond my techincal skills.

Thank you for taking your time to help,

-Jake

Edit: I mean, thank you for spending your time to help me... Well I hope I at least make myself somewhat understood -__-

Blue screen came again, but this time I thought the error message was different! I couldn't see it properly as it flashed on the screen for maybe 2 seconds, but I think it said something along the lines of; IRQ_LESS_THAN something something...

New log files attached, thank you for your patience.

-Jake

Hello, jakezuku I'll see if I can help you. Please do something for me first.
Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page.    Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

Hi I am currently having problems with the BSOD Windows seems to think it is a memory problem but every time I run the most BSOD Arkham F:NV, playing (FO3, Asylum) Steam games on windows memory diagnostic tool it doesn't find any problems The BSOD occurs most frequently while playing games on steam however it has happened at random I don't have the error code that pops up during the BSOD but I will try to get it if I see it during a crash again Sorry I am a bit of a computer novice but I have included the zip file that is requested Batman Arkham Asylum BSOD playing most games on Steam (FO3, F:NV, Arkham Asylum) gave me a notice once before a BSOD that said I was out of virtual memory which I thought was related to RAM I currently have gb of RAM I have adjusted the sticks of RAM on my motherboard just to see if it was a bad port after the BSOD started but that did nothing I would like to know if it is indeed a memory problem and how to fix it Or at the very least know what is causing the problem Thanks

Welcome
From your dump reports the problem seems to be due to a bad driver or a hardware problem, which includes memory. Based upon your post, memory will be the place to start. Take this test for 8 passes. Then test each stick in a good slot for 6 passes each.

Hey,

since a few days I experience BSOD while playing/starting Steam games (noticed it the first while playing Payday 2, tried Space Engineers later and it happened there too).

This only happens while playing or starting Steam games, I played WoW for hours now without any problems but as soon as I try to play a Steam game I get a BSOD. Also my games now got black borders which I was able to fix for Payday but it's still strange that they appeared at the same time as the BSOD.

My Specs:

CPU: Intel i2500k

GPU: Asus HD Radeon 7950 (AMD Graphic card)

Mainboard: Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen 3

Power Supply: be quiet! Straight Power E9-CM 480W ATX 2.4

RAM: TeamGroup Elite Series DIMM Kit 8GB, DDR3-1333

Please let me know if I forgot any specific logs/specs or any other information you need to help me.

A:BSOD while playing/starting steam related games

It seems like I found the problem, noticed heat spikes for my GPU and CPU, increased my cooling and so far it works fine.

I'm getting blue screens when playing games on steam. The games I've noticed it on are:
Skyrim
Loadout
Sleeping Dogs
DmC Devil May Cry
Shadow Warrior

According to BlueScreenView the cause for the last few crashes is dxgkrnl.sys, and has previously been atikmpag.sys. As far as I know the drivers for my graphics card and motherboard are up to date, and I'm excluding my Steam folder from F-Secure's real-time scanner.

Thanks for any help!

Have been experiencing BSOD regularly and occasionally RSOD. It is happening at least once each time I play intensive steam games, most recently Project Cars.
I am not overclocking.
First i though it must be the temp of the CPU or GPU, but the CPU is sitting at 45 deg and GPU is maxing out at 62 deg as i have an aggressive fan mapping to ensure that it was keeping cool.
Have stressed tested memory with memtest86+, CPU with Prime 95 and GPU with FurMark
Windows is up to date.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

A:BSOD while playing hardware intensive steam games

Hi timo,

Welcome to the 8forums.

The level 0 cache of the CPU is causing the problems.
What tests from Prime95 have you performed?

Please make sure your drivers are updated.
Please uninstall ASUS software.
Please make sure your BIOS is set at default settings.

The title is pretty self-explanatory; I keep getting BSOD on steam games, particularly DotA and Civ V. I've been supremely bored without my vidjya, so any help would be much appreciated! I've attached the requisite BSOD paperwork, and am pasting some more stuff, and my system specs should be in my profile.

A:BSOD playing Steam games, Bug 0x00000124, Driver: hal.dll+12a3b

Hello, and welcome to SevenForums!

First of all, have you overclocked your graphics card at all?

The 0x00000124 error code appears during a hardware complaint, such as overheating. If you have overclocked your GPU, RESET IT IMMEDIATELY. This could be causing numerous critical errors in your GPU, causing the whole system to crash. Also, overclocking can severely damage your GPU. I would only recommend it if you know what you are doing and are not just following a tutorial.

But, this could be other things too. I see that your GPU driver is WAY out-of-date. Download the latest drivers via the AMD website.

Best of luck,

PeregrineX

Hello!
Since last weeks I've had multiple BSOD's and it seems to happen mostly while I play games through steam. Games like GTA4, The witcher 2 and Sleeping dogs cause the crashes while I for some reason can play Shogun Total war 2 for hours without problems. Games that are not connected to steam, like Battlefield 3, seems to work good as well. I don't have any cd/dvd tools like Daemon tools installed. I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this problem.

A:BSOD playing games with Steam. Multiple error messages.

Hello Kwandao and welcome to Sevenforums.

Have you tried to disable the Steam Overlay? To do this-* Launch Steam and click on the "Settings" button. Click on the "In-Game Settings" tab.
* Uncheck the box next to "Enable Steam Community In-Game" and click OK.
* Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, click on "Properties" and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game" in the "General" tab.

Troubleshooting

Different culprits pointed towards your ATI Graphics Driver. Driver Sweeper will ensure that you'd have a clean install at the end of the procedure, and by that no leftover files that'd bork the system.

* Make your way to ATI Drivers - Downloads and download the latest driver for your card, save it to your desktop for instance
* Uninstall the Graphic driver you currently have and all its extensions (do not reboot yet)
* Download Driver Sweeper
* Get to safe mode (without network) and search for Driver Sweeper in your START
* Select all the ATI components and analyse them
* Clean them, head into Windows without internet and install the driver you've downloaded previously

DirectX

* Have you updated your directX recently?
* What's your temperatures just before a crash?
* Does the crashes only happen on demanding games?
* Have you checked threads on Steams Forums?

I'm running windows 7 on a Dell N5010 laptop
It works fine while just browsing with chrome or using skype, but as soon as I try to watch a video on youtube it won't play smoothly unless I have it on a stupid-low quality (with nexflix too)
same with my games on steam (I only have two downloaded right now- TF2 and Skyrim) and both of them are super laggy, even with the graphics, ect all set to low.. Minecraft does the same thing.
It gets pretty annoying as you can imagine.

I've tried closing all my background programs while playing and deleting a bunch of stuff to give more space on my RAM but nothing really seems to make any difference.

Any advice..??

A:Bad lag while playing steam games and watching videos

You're running Intel HD graphics that's built in to your laptop. wont do ya much good if you want to play games or watch movies. bare minimum internet browsing. If you want to play video games on a laptop, i recommend getting a new laptop that has dual video cards. one for highperformance (videogames/movies), one for power saving. Also, your i3 processor isnt helping much either.

Generally, laptops are meant to be upgraded every 3 years. I'd also recommend a desktop if you want to play video games. cheaper, more powerful

Hi guys,

I'm getting BSODs when playing Portal 2 on steam 30 mins - 2 hours into the game). I'm using windows 8.1 (upgraded from 8.0 key) and have fairly new hardwares installed recently. Outside of Portal 2 I have not encountered any other BSOD errors, including a 6+ hours session in Tomb Raider 2013 which may rule out overheating etc.

I can't recall the error ID on the BSOD screen because it was fuzzy. But this happened twice today and yesterday. All I could find in the eventviewer is Kernel-Power and BugCheck

I just got a new computer built and got a new monitor along with it but a problem has arose. I can use the computer but when something that required a lot of RAM or just a lot of priority to open for example "Steam" the software in which you can download games and such (Basically XBOX or Play Station but for computer), It just lags a little bit and goes to no signal. I know the problem isn't with the monitor because I've tested other monitors and I have done the same with the cable. I'm using a DVI cable not a VGA. I have updated my drivers for my graphics card several times and on the GeForce Experience application it says my drivers are up to date. HELP!

A:BSOD when downloading games on steam

A:Getting BSOD when trying to play steam games

Hello and welcome to Sevenforums!
The cause of your BSOD is the hardware.
I would try running Memtest86+ or Seatools for DOS and Windows, try both.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

Hey guys i posted here before about BSODs related to my RAM (hence the amount of dumps in the folder, i think you can ignore the majority of the older ones, the ones from today i presume will prove most helpful). I have since fixed that problem (afaik) and now present you genius' with another!

Not long ago i started experiencing bluescreen's whenever i tried to load portal 2, pretty much instantly. Other games such as CS:S or Portal 1 work fine, i'm now also experiencing the bsods with boarderlands 2.

I read somewhere that it could of been my bios, so i updated that but the problem persists.

If theres any more information you require please let me know.

Thanks,

Chris.

Hello all,

I am recently getting BSOD's when i play steam games like, Gary's mod - Team fortress 2.

These 2 are the one i currently tried.
I play other steam games like, Block 'n Load and Path of Exile.
I also play World Of Warcraft - Diablo3 - Rise Of Nations, And I never get BSOD crashes with them.

I never had this problem before until I downloaded steam again,
I also searched the internet for an answer and updated my Graphics card and it did not help.

* Computer Specs ( dont know some of them )

Computer: Asus notebook K75VJ

Proccesor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz

Will post the memory Dump also if I know how to open it because it says "Access Denied"

Hope anyone had the same problem and did fix it.

Hi,

I have been trying to get to the bottom of some crashing issues with my PC.

Most of the time it is stable but I have been getting the odd BSOD that seemed almost random.

Recently I was trying to update a game through Steam and it keeps blue screening after a short period of downloading.

This was the info given by Windows

Hello Lionmon.

Scan the system for possible virus infection.
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline
update the network driver:

Code:
Name [00000020] Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\rt64win7.sys (7.46.610.2011, 526.60 KB (539,240 bytes), 10/06/2011 6:34 AM)
Get it from Realtek

Code:

Get it from ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)
Download the network card driver from manufactuer's website.
Then reinstall the driver:
Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Menu Search box and press Enter.
Double click to expand "Network adaptors".
Right click your network card and click Uninstall.
Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK.
Restart the computer
If windows does not auto configure the appropriate drivers at startup, install the downloaded one manually.
You have some other connections, such as
Name [00000009] Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
Name [00000012] Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Name [00000021] RemoteControl USB LAN LINK
If you use those, update those, too.

Do some disc checks. (If you got a malware at the first step, postpone it)
Update your SSD's Firmware (Skip it, if it is not a SSD)
Re-seat the sata and power.
Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
Let us know the results.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests (located at this link: Hardware Diagnostics ). They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
Hard Drive Diagnostics (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks

Please stop using the Turbo mode (and remove any overclocks) while we're troubleshooting. See if that restores system stability.

Then please run the rest of the free diags at the Hardware Diags page

You have multiple STOP 0x101 and 0x124 errors, this is most likely a hardware error - but it can be caused by compatibility issues, low-level driver problems, or even malware. The diagnostics listed above are the first step in troubleshooting these problems.

Good Luck!

Hello all,

First post here. My friend recently assembled a new PC for me. I've been getting BSODs lately and I need your help on finding out why. I get them randomly, but I'm usually playing steam games or just talking on skype. I have got them during web browsing before as well. I've followed the instructions and attached the .zip!

Not sure if this helps, but the bugcheck code I get through bluescreenview is: 0x00000116 caused by driver dxgkrnl.sys and caused by address - dxgkrnl.sys+5d134

Thanks

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable. Once you are running a genuine Windows installation, and are still experiencing BSOD's, we will be happy to help you solve them

and install Revo Uninstaller.Opt for "Advanced Mode" and uninstall the software (also delete the leftover registry entries).

Based on the bugchecks, I would recommend you follow and complete the steps given below:1. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop. Reset any changed values back to default and reset/clear CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS. Uninstall any overclocking tool as these can also be a reason of blue screens.

2. Uninstall your current antivirus software. It can be a cause of BSOD very often. Please remove it with its removal tool and use Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. Malwarebytes is a great combination with it. Go through this thread for more info.

3. Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log

4. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to check windows for integrity violations. Run it up to three times to fix all errors. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations.

5. Make scans with Kaspersky TDSskiller and ESET Online scanner.

6. Perform a Clean Start up, this will help avoid any problematic applications from bugging the system.

7. Use Revo Uninstaller Free to uninstall stubborn software. Opt for Advanced Mode and uninstall the software, delete the leftover registry entries.

8. Use Crystal Disk Info to upload a screenshot of your Hard Drives (s). Test your Hard Drives (s) running a Hard Drive Diag.

9. Test and Diagnose RAM issues with RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Pay close attention to Part 3 of the tutorial "If you have errors" Take the test for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Hi guys,

I was playing the game Killing Floor via Steam which I have done for quite some time on this pc but while I was on Vista 32Bit (Home Premium) and not had any problems. But in the last few days I've had 2 BSOD's. The first one I can't remember what I was doing, but the 2nd was playing the game.

I've attached the dumps to see if anyone can help.

Cheers

Edit: Just remembered the 1st BSOD was while I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 and it said something about a DX file had caused the problem.

A:BSOD while playing Killing Floor via Steam

Hi,

Steam does that to Windows 7 systems. It's the norm (and Steam's fault.) Update it to latest if you can.

You have memory corruption. Update these drivers to latest 2009 version available:

nmserial nmserial.sys Wed Jan 10 01:44:09 2007
NmPar NmPar.sys Wed Jan 10 02:13:13 2007

SiRemFil SiRemFil.sys Wed Jun 20 15:42:10 2007
SiWinAcc SiWinAcc.sys Thu Jun 14 20:02:02 2007
SI3132 SI3132.sys Wed Oct 03 14:39:29 2007

And video card driver from NVIDIA's site too.

I ran SF Collector and attached my dump and associated files.

Hi all,

First time poster, so sorry if i've done anything wrong please advise me and i'll make any required edits.

I've gotten a couple of BSOD's today, just when downloading a particularly big steam game. I've been skyping, online gaming fine etc. but it's happened twice now just downloading this game (Witcher 2, if you're interested!)

I've followed the instructions to attach the BSOD log files. I'd really appreciate any advice you could give.

Thanks

Unfortunately, error code 0x124 usually means there's faulty hardware, and the error message supports that:

Code:
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
I'll do some more research, but for now that's my best guess.

Best of luck,

RAM: 8 GB

System: 64 Bit
(This is all I know)

Will post the memory Dump also if I know how to open it because it says "Access Denied"

Hope anyone had the same problem and did fix it.

Greetings, Valtru

A:BSOD crashes with Steam/Valve Games

Hi,

My, that could be anything. do you know if Asus has any diagnostic software? like to test your ram and cpu and motherboard? go to Asus website and search your model or search for diagnostic programs/software from Asus to test your ram, motherboard, video card..

start with those.. blue screen of deaths are a thing of the past with me and i have not seen one since at-least 2 years ago..

Whenever I launch a large game on steam, it will run just fine for about 10 minutes then it will BSOD. This computer was able to handle them just fine until a week ago when I noticed extreme changes in speed and gui not showing up properly. I don't recall installing anything recently other than updating steam games. But I did notice they started happening more when I verified the game's cache and it reinstalled the whole game.

It also happens when the internet browser is left open for more than 20-30 minutes.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

So, I have been having random BSOD's for a while now, it happened a few times the day i bought it then seemed to work for a week or so. Now the problem is back. The most recent times have been while playing skyrim and also while using google chrome.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM. Running 8GB of ram. The system is only 2 weeks old, bought from NCIX. I am not the best with computers, so please be patient with me.

Used SF Diag Tool v4 (recommended on seven forums) to retrieve my files.

Thanks,
Clarke

Something has gone badly wrong with the registry. It can also indicate that the registry got
an I/O error while trying to read one of its files, so it can be caused by

I wouldnt do too much (you might void you warranty). One thing I might do is a check disk

Hi, I've been having various bsod issues with varying degrees of severity while doing various tasks. This time a friend bought 'Age of Mythology' for me and within 15 minutes of playing it my computer blue screened. Ironically, this game is ancient and should run like it's nothing yet somehow it crashed in minutes and has framerate issues.

Here's the .dmp: http://1drv.ms/1nNKHnu

This is my first post ever, hopefully I got the syntax somewhat right.

I guess after reading some stuff I should upload this too:

Hello, lorkian I will see if I can help. First I could help better if you would provide more specific details about your hardware. We need the Manufacturer and model of your components as well as your PSU and CPU cooler. This may help you.

If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

Please update your Graphics driver. I will give you some suggestions about how to do it.

After doing that please run Seatools on your Mechanical Hard drives. Please use Seatools for DOS and run the short and long test. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

Also, please go to your Motherboard's web site and update your drivers, especially your Chipset and Network drivers.

Also, please open an elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we w... Not sure if many of you noticed, but post Windows Insider build 14936, the Steam overlay would refuse to work with 64 bit games. Starting with the public beta build of Steam that is available today, that issue is resolved.

You can opt in to Steam beta builds by going to Steam's settings>Account and clicking the "Change" button under the Beta Participation header. Select "Steam Beta Update" from the dropdown menu, hit OK and then hit the button to restart Steam.

As with any beta builds, you may experience bugs. I haven't run into any showstoppers in the time I've been running Steam betas, but your mileage may vary.

Hello all,

I've been having a few problems with my laptop since I bought it. The problem mainly occurs when I'm playing a game (usually xcom: enemy unknown or deus ex HR at the moment) but has occurred when I'm browsing the internet (albeit far less often). The BSODs appear to be random but I'm using a blue tooth mouse and have noticed the BSOD will usually happened if I'm using it. I've also noticed that my laptop screen with black out for a split second on games that are quite graphics intensive for my system.

Its been frustrating me a lot so I reinstalled and fully updated windows 7. The GPU drivers are all up to date also.

I've attached the SF file that is required and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks for your time

A:BSOD!! While playing Mafia 2 on Steam and Magic the gathering Tactics.

Start with Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try and use the following to supplement the steps in that link:Monitor temperatures during the following tests. Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.

Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.

Follow the steps for doing a CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

I have deleted avast because someone suggested that caused the critical error, and I have done the driver verification. The problem is that every time it crashes in game it does not create a dump at all and the only place that has any info on the crash is event viewer with the info I have included.

Please help me I really would like to fix this issue.

Unfortunately I forgot to record the error, but next time the BSOD occurs (which is randomly), I'll update this post.

So whenever I open a steam game, or alt tab from a full screen game, I either get the errors: "PAGE IN NONFAULT AREA" or "SYSTEM SERVICE EXEMPTION"

I recently just bought this computer, but this occurred on my old one as well. Any help would be appreciated, and apologizes if I left anything else out.

Hello,
I have recently bought a used PC and changed the case for a new one, so I rewired the entire system. Since then, the PC keeps crashing when I download large games off steam and sometimes it crashes while I'm watching videos on youtube. Two errors show at different times when it crashes and the main error is: driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (wdf01000.sys) and the other one is: driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (usbxhci.sys).

Here is the dump file.

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try: Stop 124 - What it means and what to try

Hi Guys,

I have issues with my desktop. I randomly get the bsod (kernel data inpage error). I thought it started after I installes the new ATI drivers. So I tried older drivers but without any result. After that I thought it was an issues with Win 7 64bit. So I installed 32bit. But still I get the bsdod.

can you please help?

Win 7 32 bit
oem original
hardware about two years old.
I have a new installed os.The old one started giving trouble after 2 years.

A:BSOD randomly after playing games or playing movies )

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

You have an 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card. Win7 doesn't like these devices. They will rapidly spit out BSOD's if using Vista-era drivers. Here's my rant about these devices:

Quote:
I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

STOP 0x7A specifically refers to a problem with a missing Service Pack ( BSOD Index )
The c000009d parameter means DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED
And the memory dump suggests that there might be a hardware problem with the hard drive.
Just to be sure, please run this free hard drive diagnostic: Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Microsoft Security Essentials dynamic driver showed up in the memory dump. I'd suggest:
- downloading a fresh copy
- uninstalling the current copy
- installing the freshly downloaded copy and IMMEDIATELY updating it
- perform a full system scan.

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have reinstalled to this computer numerous times.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad q9550 @ 2.83 ghz

GPU: Radeon HD 5770

Mem: 4 Gigs of Memory

Motherboard: p5n32-e sli nforce 680i chipset

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).

when i try openeing Steam in anyway (in start menu, form shortcuts finding the file), nothing happens. the sand timer replaces the mouse pointer for a couple of seconds but then nothing happens. the same happens for any steam game (CSS and Garry's Mod). Iv'e disabled peer guardian 2 but the problem is still apparent.

Any Ideas??
cheers x

Hello So first of all I am not a computer wizard Some terms I might not understand as i've never had a problem like this before but i'll try to enlist as much information as possible Since last friday or so i've suddenly encountered a BSOD Now i've had them before and it was only once After a reboot it usually never happend again and everything was cool But since friday they popped up again Mainly during playing Battlefield but i've also had it happen during Dragon Ball Xenoverse I've had multiple BSOD errors which are - IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL - BAD POOL HEADER - MEMORY MANAGEMENT - SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION - APC INDEX MISMATCH Now if it were one I might've been able to pinpoint the issue but They're constantly different errors that happen Now to explain a bit more in detail how it goes So i'm just playing a match of Battlefield After minutes give or take it'll bring me to the multiple inside listed BSOD so playing games, far errors, BSOD 5 blue screen After processing whatever it has to process computer shuts down and it starts to restart At this point it will be stuck in an infinite restart loop where my monitor will not display anything as well It just says it's not connected to something which it clearly is After manually closing and rebooting i'll have to do this a few times or mess with the HDMI a little bit before I get my monitor to pop up again Once that happens I get stuck in the beginning screen where you can see your HDD SSD installed It won't go further than that unless I hit F There have been times where I had to go into BIOS and revert it to default settings as well even though I never change a thing in there but it worked Then it reboots back up as usual Very rarely i'll get an instant BSOD when it logged in but that only happens rarely Now the solutions i've been trying - Deleted graphics drivers all of them and reinstalled them Did not work - BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside Out of frustration reinstalled Windows Did not fix anything - Brought him in to a shop The BSOD's never appeared there and seemingly there's nothing wrong within the system according to him - Went BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside to my parents house to test there since I do not have a car Played games there no BSOD I BSOD playing games, so far 5 multiple BSOD errors, listed inside got the hope that maybe it was fixed but then I returned home tried it out and after or so minutes of playing Battlefield BSOD This time it gave me the IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL amp BAD POOL HEADER errors I've even been paranoid enough to think that it might be external hardware that is causing it Like my headset or speakers or SOMETHING that was different when I brought it to the shop or when I was home at my parents house Is that even possible It's good to know that i've had my current video card since release of the GTX and it never caused any sort of problem before Here are two dump errors I cannot show the others as they occured before I reinstalled Win so I do not have those dump files anymore but here are two of the most recent ones In case system specs are needed System Spec Computer type PC Desktop OS Windows x CPU Intel Core i GHz Motherboard Alienware JNH CPU Memory GB DDR MHz Graphics Card s MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX MSI I'm pretty desperate at this moment so any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks for the read

This problem has occurred quot somewhat quot I don t know when exactly recently I used to be able to play full screen games just fine but now for auto as Games(WC3, as games, minimizes Screen launched soon always etc) Steam Full some reason everytime I launch a full Full Screen Games(WC3, Steam games, etc) always auto minimizes as soon as launched screen game it auto minimizes When I alt tab back or click the game icon on the task bar it remaximizes the game but quickly gets minimized Full Screen Games(WC3, Steam games, etc) always auto minimizes as soon as launched after a second Games play fine while in quot windowed quot mode Warcraft etc Full screen keeps minimizing I use Windows Vista Ultimate bit Nvidia GeForce onboard video card I ve done scans with Avast Malware Bytes and Super Antispyware and they all found nothing Three months ago same system full screen games played fine however I was on sort of a quot full screen quot gaming break so I only recently tried playing full screen games like Warcraft and this is when I encountered the quot auto minimizes quot problem The only major difference between the time full screen games worked and now is Avast I upgraded from Avast to Avast other than that there were no other major changes with the computer I am on Avast is on Silent Gaming mode and I tried disabling all the shields temporarily to see if it would fix the issue but it didn t Does anyone have any ideas or need anymore info that may help Any help will be appreciated thanks Edit I found a solution though still looking if there is another way to quot fix quot this issue - Right click on a program shortcut or program gt Properties gt Compatibility gt check the quot Disable Desktop Composition quot This disables Windows Aero while the full screen appliance is running This fixes the issue however three months ago before my long three month full screen video game break I didn t have to disable Windows Aero So I still wonder what changed to cause these full screen games to auto minimize if Windows Theme is set to Aero While this solution works I d rather not have to disable desktop composition windows aero if there is another solution to this problem because it causes the games to take longer to launch and exit since Windows Aero is usually on So anyone have any other ideas nbsp
