I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, are there any devices with yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed. The NDIS error is for the Realtek Ethernet Driver
Even if there are no yellow flags, go to the Lenovo Download Drivers site Laptops and netbooks :: IdeaPad Z Series laptops :: IdeaPad Z560 - Lenovo Support (GB) choose your OS.
Download the Chipset, Realtek Ethernet driver, and the Conextant Audio driver for your model.

Maybe scan for malware with your AV and Malwarebytes . . . but perhaps not if only affecting one account.

Also, another instance where system restore might provide a quick and easy fix if you have a recent restore point available from before this problem started occurring.

I have already Updated my drivers, Scanned with both AVg free, and malware. Upon looking through my even viewer I have a single Kernel-Power Critical Error but many more normal errors such as: 10 WMI(application). 102 PNRPSvc(system), 1000 Application error(application), 1001 Bugcheck(system), 6008 eventlog(system), 7001 Service Control Manager(system)x2.

About a week ago my computer suddenly became painfully slow (to the point that the startup and shutdown sounds stutter). CPU usage bounces around 50% without anything running, but the computer works perfectly fine in safe mode. There were no changes or updates that proceeded the issue.

I have run multiple scans with my anti-virus software (trend micro) after updating to the latest definitions in both safe mode and normal startup, but it has not found anything. I have run a system restore back to before the issue occured to no avail. I have attempted to determine the source by modifying my startup programs and services through msconfig, no sucess. Giving up and hoping for some help!

Thanks,

Sean

Though not definitive there are over 200 seconds of incrase due in part to the HD thrashing.  I would defrag and run CHKDSK as a first step

CHKDSK /R /F
Chkdsk disclaimer: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found  any data available on that sector might be lost so as usual backup your data.
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.
Do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter.

Then reboot and let the test run.
It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.

See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

Hello Our computer has several problems which don with onset strange failures help, all please multiple sudden t seem related to each-other but they all began happening in the space of four days or less about six weeks ago At that time the computer got a few Windows updates an upgraded version of McAfee was installed and Internet Explorer was replaced by Internet Explorer as one of the Windows Updates The computer is a Dell Studio XPS with Windows Vista -bit please help, multiple strange failures all with sudden onset The symptoms are as follows After rebooting Internet Explorer will stop please help, multiple strange failures all with sudden onset working after about two to five hours When you try to run it it just sits there with a blank screen and most of the menu options ghosted out When this happens email still works fine and I can successfully quot ping google com quot from the command prompt The only way I have found to get it working again is to reboot the computer Sometimes two reboots are required Windows Defender is unable to complete a scan It stalls after running for from two-and-one-half to seven-and-one-half hours The UI is still responsive because it responds to the close box but the elapsed time does not progress and the file indicator is stopped on any of several cookies in any of several users cookies folders The path will be C users AnyUser AppData Roaming Microsoft Windows Cookies Low txt If you try to reboot the computer approximately twenty per cent of the time the computer will hang completely during the logoff process The only way to recover is to hold the power button in until the miserable thing powers off The USB headset we use with Rosetta Stone would previously allow you to both listen and speak when using the software Now however you can only speak over the headset The sounds come over the computers main speakers and the headset is silent Please let me emphasize this problem developed at the same time as the others After rebooting the amount of time it takes to log in as any of the users seems to have increased The desktop comes up but the computer continues to grind away on something before the Windows sidebar applications appear and before the Start Menu becomes responsive I ve been banging my head against the wall over this I ve got about twenty to thirty hours of failed troubleshooting and scouring the internet to no avail Here are a few things I ve tried Ran a full scan with McAfee - no problems found Tried two rootikit detectors One didn t find anything and one blue-screens the computer None of the Spyware MalWare detectors I have find anything other than tracking cookies except for Windows Defender which never completes I tried downloading Firefox It runs about an hour longer than Internet Explorer will then it too stops working I tried reverting Internet Explorer back to Internet Explorer It did not help begins to malfunction in the same time frame as Does anybody have any ideas I should try or know where I should look to solve this problem Any ideas are greatly appreciated I m so frustrated with this thing Thank you GeoRanger nbsp

A:please help, multiple strange failures all with sudden onset

Hello:

I've been working on this for most of this weekend (oh what fun) and may have made some progress. McAfee found and removed two pieces of Malware. One was called "doubleclick" and the other "adtmt". It didn't find those in all the other times I've scanned with it, so I don't know if they caused these problems or not.

I also ran McAfee Virtual Technician and it didn't find any problems other than a slightly outdated definition file.

Also, I think problem 4, regarding the USB headset, might be a bad USB hub. The headset works fine if I plug it directly into the computer. Perhaps it's just a coincidence the problem developed contemporaneously with the others.

I'm not convinced I'm malware free and am wondering if some nasty rootkit is hiding on my box.

All of the other problems remain. Can anybody offer some suggestions as to what I should do next?

Thank you,
GeoRanger

My Word files are suddenly going haywire. Periodically I will be scrolling through a document, and where there was once text, there is now strange characters. Chunks of text have disappeared.

If I close the file and reopen, the file seems to revert to where it was with no loss. But it freaks me out.

Was also working with some tables in Word and the program on its own started adding new rows and wouldn't stop. Had to shut down.

Software and Adware are up to date. Haven't see this with other programs, but haven't tested it much.

Already tried removing and reinstalling Word. Haven't see same prob when opening same docs on other computers.

Is this a software problem? Display? Input hardware?

Running Word 2000 on Presario Notebook. Windows XP.

Greetings More-Savvy-Computer-People-Than-Me I have had a sudden World of Warcraft latency issue in the last Sudden Latency Issue WoW weeks that has been persistent and puzzling I am at a loss of who to call or WoW Sudden Latency Issue what to do Background info -I have played WoW for almost a year WoW Sudden Latency Issue now with consistent green latency and consistent fps -I have had the laptop I play WoW on for years and haven t had any internet issues til now -I have played with settings at lowest since I started playing this game due to an average video card not really meant for gaming- nevertheless latency was consistent and I was able to play normally albeit at half of normal fps I have learned to live with just fine -My internet is at a university on VPN -There are no viruses on my computer as of this time I will log into a brief green latency period generally lasting seconds It will either move into yellow latency - ms or the dangerous and most persistent red latency - although I ve had up to ms on one occasion The highest latency came from entering and attempting to do -man raid instances Red latency will usually culminate in inevitable disconnection The strange thing about the red and yellow latency is that my fps will rise about - higher than normal Usually this latency problem will peter out between and am where I will sometimes have green latency again although I am not usually up that late This problem has also supplemented with an interesting internet component If I view network status the internet bars will jump around quite frequently usually every - seconds It goes from bars to bars back up to bars and down to bars again After talking with a friend I was told to bars is normal but to bars is not good or normal I do not know if this happened before this latency problem because I did not look at it My internet works fine on everything else except maybe some longer buffer periods on youtube videos and anime Webpages do not load any slower nor do things like downloads of anything take any longer I do not know whether to blame WoW itself or the Internet The server I play on has been consistent even through patches of content- so has the fps and latency- all until weeks ago I do not know whether to blame the ISP when I have been connected to it for one whole month without problems Any ideas suggestions hints tips and even questions to help narrow down my problem are much appreciated Thank you in advance- I would really like to play a game I pay a month for normally again Toushirou nbsp

I suddenly started getting a lot of stuttering in games a few days ago, accompanied by some popping and crackling sounds. The same thing while watching youtube videos. Also load and boot up times are much longer than they used to be.

I ran RATTV3 and it showed terribly high latency spikes--up to 29.99ms--coming from atapi.sys. Googled atapi.sys and every other hit was about a trojan or some other malware infestation. I ran MalwareBytes and it came up clean ...

Please help me figure this out. Hardware issue? Virus issue? All help greatly appreciated!

A:Sudden Severe Latency Spikes from Atapi.sys--Please Help

Hi and welcome to TSG.

My name is Iain and I will be helping you clean your system.

You may wish to Subscribe to this thread (Thread Tools > Subscribe to this thread) so that you are notified when you receive a reply.

Please read these instructions carefully and then print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the fix. You should not have any open browsers or live internet connections when you are following the procedures below.

Note that the fix may take several posts. Please continue to respond to my instructions until I confirm that your logs are clean. Remember that although your symptoms may vanish, this does NOT mean that your system is clean.

If there is anything you don't understand, please ask BEFORE proceeding with the fixes.

Please ensure that you follow the instructions in the order I have them listed. Note that if you do not respond within 5 days I shall no longer check this thread for replies.

Please do not install or uninstall any programmes, or run any other scanners or software, unless I specifically ask you to do so. Also please copy and paste logs into the thread, rather than add them as attachments.
IMPORTANT - for Windows Vista and Windows 7 start all tools by using right click > Run as Administrator.

I'd like to see a Gmer log please.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. It will be a randomly named executable.

Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.

Double click the exe file.

The program will begin to run, and perform an initial scan. If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.

In any case, after the initial scan is complete, click on the Save button, and save the log file somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in your reply.

Hi all So despite playing just fine for years last week I rebooted my computer and suddenly got insanely high latency on online games I m mainly using World of Warcraft to test the lag but the same high very online sudden latency on of a Solved: all games thing happens with other MMOs too The lag is slightly odd and tends to spike a lot rather than being constant but overall it s ms or more on every in-game action which is totally unplayable I have two PCs next to each other both using Solved: very high latency on online games all of a sudden the same router and modem and the other PC is totally fine with no lag whatsoever I ve swapped the cable from the secondary PC to this one and it made no difference at all so I m inclined to think the problem doesn t rest with the modem router or cable but rather something unique to my PC The rest of the internet seems more or less unaffected Downloads are fine as is browsing except I have noticed that I frequently - times per day get a blank page when clicking a link and have to refresh the page to have it load again without a problem Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be or suggestions for me to try to help narrow the possibilities I can try traceroutes or ping tests but I m not sure what I should be looking for Here are the specs of things I think might be useful O S - Windows XP SP Motherboard - ASRock P VM using the onboard network card all drivers updated Router - Linksys WRT G Modem - Motorola SURFboard SB Firewall - Sygate Pro Any help will be greatly appreciated as I m completely out of ideas nbsp

Hello, I`m new here, first post, etc.

So, my problem is that there is no sound coming out of my computer at all. It worked just fine until recently. The sound disappeared a few hours ago.... It`s really frustrating because I just can`t get it back and working!

I`ve tried restarting my computer and system restore. No luck.
Both my speakers and headphones work just fine and they`re configured to work on my computer.
My sound drivers are up to date.
Troubleshooting wouldn`t help.
The sound online, on games, media player and system default sounds seem to be playing, but there is no sound. And no error messages of any kind.
There are no viruses on my computer, I`ve scanned it using Kaspersky Anti-virus.
I`m using a legal version of windows XP.

...I have no idea what to do next. Help!!

System that is having the problem is an ASUS Rampage II Gene with Intel i7-920 processor; 6 Gig RAM; and GTX 260 . Power supply is a Coolermaster extreme Powwer plus 600W PS. OS is Windows & 64 bit.

Wife has been experiencing recurring freezes and \or BSOD for a while. She uses the system for playing Warcraft so this is when it is happening. She says that sound will sometimes crackle and buzz at times before the freeze\crash.

I updated with all the O\S patches; all drivers updated, ran driver verifier and Memtest and did full malware scan - all okay.

I just replaced the Hard drive and did clean re install of OS. Issue however has just recurred.

I have attached the following dump file

Hey all,

Dell Inspiron 6000
Xp Pro SP3
Intel 915gm chipset

Latency levels are causing problems in music play. I went through all processes to see what was the cause and found it was the CD drive, which i dont mind as dont use it. Also the wireless adapter which i do need.

Intel Pro Wireless 2200bg network connection. when enabled shows latency of 2000, and when disabled goes down to 200/250.

Any ideas on this?

A:Latency Issues

Am i being dumb here.. Latency is constantly at a high level (2000) until i download something? While anything is downloading - it will switch to normal levels, then jump back as soon as i have finished downloading?

Ill be honest - ive read a lot of places, and i dont get it??

The DPC Latency Checker is not valid for Windows 8. They have a statement to that effect on their web site.

Try the Resplendence Latency program, which is valid.

I recently started playing WoW (on vista) since my computer is now way over the recommended requirements. The problem now is my connection. The first couple of days were fines with the latency at 150-200 ms which is good for a cable connection. In the past 2 days, however, the latency spikes and then overloads. I'll just be playing normally and the latency will spike up to 7000ms and will run poorly until it disconnects. Is there any idea on why this happens? I would like to get it fixed. I have ported the games on my firewall and router.

Hello all, I havnt posted here in quite a long time ( I can figure out most of my computer issues myself ). But something has me concerned and I come here for advice.

Recently I have been having latency issues with my internet connection, I play quite a few online games (COD4, TF2, WoW) and have never had a problem before. My pings to most server is usually around 10-50, but lately I have been lagging out, getting 1-200 pings, or even up to 4000 playing warcraft.

I am looking for some software which can detect if someone is using my connection or intercepting it...sorry dont really know the verbage to use here...

I have looked at the stickys and I dont think what I am looking for is there.

Thank you in advance!

Just tried playing Counter-Strike 1.6 and my CPU is under 100% load whilst its on, jeez. I seem to have ping spikes and random lags during game, why this is i do not have the slightest clue. My temperatures seem perfectly fine and as do all rails on my PSU - this issue is, i'm sure, related to incoming and outcoming internet connections. The issue is not related to my firewall or due to excessive amounts of bandwith eating programs.

I seriousley need some help!

Temperatures under load:

CPU: 40C
GPU: 60C
MB: 12C

Memory usage: 60%
CPU Usage: 100%

The voltage seems a bit dodgey there.

I dont see where the problem is coming from, grr.

I would do another clean install but, as you hinted at yourself, without using that 'driver update' program.

EDIT : Windows 7 usually installs most of the drivers, if you do need to get some go to the hardware maker's website. In particular if you need any drivers for your motherboard, including chipset drivers, get them here :- http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_III_FORMULA/HelpDesk_Download/

System:
Windows XP SP2

All of a sudden, yesterday, my system started behaving weirdly - mouse movements became jittery and unresponsive momentarily. After searching around the web, got to this application called DPC Latency Checker.

While running the DPC latency checker, there are regular red spikes every 10-20 seconds.

I decided to run System File Checker just in case. But as soon as I started "sfc /scannow", the DPC Latency Checker went full red.

There is nothing else running except an anti-virus and this browser.

Could anyone shed any light as to what could an issue ?

Thanks.

A:Mouse lag / DPC Latency Issues

Hi newbie, and welcome to TSF.

The first "critical" issue that you need to address is SP3. Service Pack 3 for XP was released way back in 2008 and I actually wonder how you have got this far without it. You should visit this page to download and install SP3. Ignore the advice about going to Windows Update, this is the best way to get this one.

After you have installed it, then go to the Windows Update site to download and install any critical/important updates. You may have to revisit the site several times if you have missed a lot. In future, you may want to consider keeping Automatic Updates enabled.

Regarding the The DPC Latency Checker tool, did you follow the instructions to try disabling individual devices using Windows Device Manager.

Full instructions here.

I'm pretty sure you would not get accurate results from this tool pertaining to your system performance while running SFC. Do you still get the red bars without running it?

I'm going around in circles things among Latency other Issues, on this and I'm about ready Latency Issues, among other things to just say screw it and switch to Ubuntu In any case this whole thing started when I wanted to record a guitar track However I found that there was a noticeable amount of delay when recording I was monitoring the audio through the software meaning I was listening to it through my headphones while recording and five hours of searching eventually revealed the problem to be with Windows Turns out that this is a pretty well known issue with a lot of hit-or-miss 'fixes' floating around depending on your sound card As luck would have it I have a Creative Audigy SB zs One of the fixes detailed going into Realtek and adjusting some settings however when I open Realtek it only lists the Digital output as being active although it should be Analog There's no tabs for Microphone just one tab for Digital Output I've heard that Realtek is only meant for the onboard soundcard on the motherboard and won't work for the Audigy If that's the case is there some other GUI to adjust the audio settings All of the packaged software that came with the card is corrupt and there's nothing mentioned on the Creative site I tried updating my codecs the manager and my drivers but nothing's worked so far Tried googling for a GUI or something as well and that was fruitless too Is there some way to fix this I've been trying to find a solution to the latency issue for literally hours since pm last night it's now am

A:Latency Issues, among other things

It's difficult to help because you've left out key details...

It would really help if new members filled out their system specs, otherwise we're just guessing.

I've been audio recording on just about every kind of computer over the past 20 years.
Let me just say that latency is a "given" on every system when monitoring through software, you can't escape it but there are several solutions.

I need to know your recording software, also... if the soundcard's software is corrupt, why don't you simply reinstall it? oh... Realtek has nothing to do with your Creative hardware it's completely separate, adjusting Realtek does nothing for the Creative card. if you're plugged into the creative card, that's what you need to adjust.

Usually Creative installs a low latenct ASIO driver this can bring the latency way down... the other option is to monitor the Creative card via it's own hardware direct monitoring... then there is no latency at all.

I just made this new build and ever since I've made it my internet latency is going nuts.
Whenever I try to play a game my ping just skyrockets and its so obnoxious.
I don't know if its my network adapter or something.

I cannot figure this out. I've been doing internet speed tests and I consistently have ridiculously high latencies. Like 500+ ms latencies. It wasn't like this a couple of weeks ago and the two other computers in my office don't have this problem. So I figure there's something wrong with my computer. Most likely a software issue but I just can't figure out what it could be.

I am connected wirelessly but so is every other computer in my office so its not that. And I've switched out my wireless adapter and wireless router so I've ruled that out as well.

Any ideas on what this could be?

A:High Latency Issues

Sorry for the double post but I wanted to update this a little bit.

Initially I was doing the speedtests with Google Chrome and had those high latencies. I decided to redo the tests in IE and FF and got normal low latencies. Weird. I wonder why Chrome is giving me such oddball latencies.

Hello,

I have intermittent latency issues, basically if I am unable to resolve it I am going to get my own internet line into the house (It's a house share), I believe it's a range extender connected to my network;

TL-WA850RE

But I do not have access to this device, so how can I prove it?

I thought I would, when the issues occur, ban the device's MAC address amd see if the issue stops then un-ban it and see if it starts again. I would do this a couple of times to remove coincidence from the mix but my router does not have the ability to filter mac addresses -_-.

Thanks,

A:Intermitten latency issues.

Issues happened yesterday, so I trace routed 8.8.8.8, results are;

C:\Users\RDK>tracert 8.8.8.8

Tracing route to google-public-dns-a.google.com [8.8.8.8]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 202 ms * 296 ms BTHomeHub.home [192.168.1.254]
2 482 ms * * 217.32.141.147
3 377 ms 162 ms 37 ms 217.32.141.206
4 * * 354 ms 212.140.235.74

8 * * * Request timed out.
9 * xRDK.home [192.168.1.153] reports: Destination host unreachable.

Trace complete.

The router is a BT home hub which, when I tried to restart by holding the restart button, nothing happened. It was like it had crashed, so I turned the power off to it and back on after 30 seconds and my in-game latency reduced to 66ms though it is usually 28-32.

At the time there were only 3 devices connected, the router says; "Actual data transfer speed: 104 Mbps"

it seems to be auto-selecting chanels.. Could it be selecting a channel that has interference? I've used a scanner tool and all wifi's near me are either channel 1 6 or 11 so I have selected 3.

I have a system that I have been trying to debug but I am confounded so far. The system boots up and you can log on but when you log onto the Verizon network connection it beeps a kind of tune and immediately shuts down. I know and have looked up beep codes but this is almost like a tune. If you log on and do not try to connect to the Verizon network connection the system seems to run fine. I have some .dmp files from the shut downs for diagnostics if someone can check them. The mini.dmp files did not tell me much so I changed it to complete memory dumps. I have attached them to this post

I have a custom built computer that I put together myself for my aunt. I am having problems with windows 7 64-bit. Here is my problem. Everything on the computer works great with exception to anything that needs to be downloaded (ie. flash games, downloading programs, loading youtube videos, etc.) Basically, anything that requires something to load from the internet starts off with a great speed (~900kbps-1MBps) and suddenly drops to about 14kbps. I have checked drivers, I have checked firewall settings, I have checked port forwarding on the router, I have check port settings on the router, I have made special firewall rules, I have checked flash permissions. I am genuinely at a loss as to what the problem might be, so I present it to you all.

For more than a year now i've been trying to get rid of latency issues on my pc According to latencymon they appear due to ndis sys driver spikes which tend to appear at random intervals when i browse and refresh pages or download something Remarkably though they do not appear while i play online or at least i do not notice them Those spikes produce noticeable sound distortions pops when watching movies or videos on youtube Recently i've made a complete fresh reinstallation of windows and updated it to but unfortunately the stutter is still there I've also been talking to Asus support and writing on Intel's forums and while Asus keeps shifting blame on Intel they in return keep insisting that there are no issue's with their network devices I've also tried different drivers and recommendations like disabling quot interrupt moderation quot Still ndis.sys issues latency battling or quot offload upload quot settings in network driver settings or removing Still battling ndis.sys latency issues wan miniport drivers There are also multiple threads about this issue on Intel's forums but unfortunately they are all related to older network devices and the usual recommendation is to install older drivers which aren't compatible with my device I've been hoping that someone might have figured it out over the passed year or might be interested enough to help me fix this issue since it's probably the only one i've got left with my new rig and it's driving me crazy After updating to i've also noticed that a new device started appearing from time to time in a device manager called quot wan miniport quot and when it appears - the stutter seems to be intensifying right from the start instead of slowly appearing over a few hours like it usually does So i've recently removed those drivers via registry and in a safe mode I've also tried using separate Realtek network card and it seems that the latency issues appeared anyway The only way they do not appear is if i don't use internet or switch off all network devices remove network cable Also when i plug and unplug the network cable - ndis sys goes into a crazy mode which is the reason im thinking that this is related to intel's network adapter At this point i've tried just about everything but im willing to try more suggestions like tweaking more network driver settings or bios settings if someone can recommend them My system is Windows Pro Motherboard Asus Maximus VIII Hero Network adapter Intel I- V

Hi,

Lately I've been having trouble playing Warcraft III online, specifically DotA. At first, while playing I would get huge latency spikes. I never had any delay, only spikes that froze my screen for seconds at a time. This happens every few minutes or so, sometimes more. I've run several connection and ping tests online, and none of them show spikes in my ping. In addition to this, I can play League of Legends online with no lag. I've tried reinstalling Warcraft III, and since then I haven't even been able to connect to Battle.net at all. Nothing seems to work. Please help.

Hey guys, I've been having some issues with latency issues recently. It all started after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7.

I have tried upgrading all my drivers, and even downgrading my Network driver thinking it might fix the problem, but to no avail.

I am a big online gamer, so you can understand the frustration. My ping sits around 19-20 but will spike up to anywhere between 50-80 for 5 seconds, then back down. This happens every 15-20 seconds or so.

I've left DPC Latency Checker running while I disable both my audio drivers, with no change, as well as my Network driver, and the issue still persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ! I don't know what more I can do at this point.

This issue is definitely on my end, because my desktop computer has no latency issues, so I don't believe it is my ISP, and the issues didn't start till I upgrading my OS.

A:Latency Issues after upgrading to Windows 7.

I suggest you run Process Explorer and check which strings are involved (from Properties).

The picture is supposed to give you an idea, but at this time I have no DPCs.

So recently I have been noticing pops and crack sounds in my music. I did some research and came to the conclusion that it is the dpc latency. Here is all the information that you might need to help me with this issue.

You can find my system specs on my profile:
Windows 7 Help Forums - View Profile: czaarek99

You can see that all of my drivers are updated here:

Well, there AHCI driver isn't. But I just downloaded it from ASUS website but the program still shows it isn't updated.

Here is a log from latencymon:
Private Paste - Pastie

Here is the screenshot of latencymon:

I don't know what to do anymore, I have pretty much updated all the drivers. This problem is pissing me off extremely. And oh, I did try a clean install of windows too (but obviously I had to re install all my drivers)

A:DPC Latency Issues, Audio dropouts

Here is how to post screenshots on this forum:
Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

I notice Avast is one of the items in the latency mon. Disable that and see if it helps.
Also, if you have a wireless internet connection, wireless is known to cause the problem you are having.

Can anybody help with my latency issue. I use Audacity to record, but since purchasing dell optimus with windows 7- I cant record due to latency issues. I tried a few sound cards from my tech, but they either distorted or had the same latency issues.
Can anybody recommend a decently priced soundcard that is DAW(and windows 7) friendly?

A:windows 7 latency issues...soundcard?

I have a Recording Studio. If you are showing Latency with the Resplendence Latency Mon or DPC Latency Checker, those are PC system latency and not sound latency.

On the other hand, PC sound cards are notorious for poor latency. Even a separate SoundBlaster sound card will have poor audio latency. A USB Connected Recording Interface unit will give you better latency. Depending on how many channels you want, there is the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 that is popular. There are those from other brands such as Presonus, MAudio, Roland Duo-Capture, etc. Go to www.sweetwater.com and look at the USB recording interface units. I like Sweetwater over others as they give you a free 2nd year warranty on equipment.
USB Audio Interfaces | Sweetwater.com

I use Roland interfaces in my recording studio. My primary interface is a Roland Studio-Capture and my backup is a Roland Octa-Capture. I use Sonar X3 as my recording DAW software.

I am having issues with latency on my computer (Windows 7 64bit, 2.2 GHz, 6 GB RAM). I initially tried to do some research myself to resolve the issue. I stumbled upon this site:

DPC Latency Checker

and I then followed the instructions on that page. I tried to isolate all network drivers and audio drivers, but it did not remove my severe latency issue. The executable from that website showed I was experiencing latency, approximately 200,000 microseconds.

The page mentions using RATT, but I am not sure how exactly that would work and it seems it might have some issues with Windows 7 anyways.

Can anyone offer some direction on what to try next? I am at a loss at this point and it is flat out preventing me from doing any recording whatsoever, as the playback is never in sync with what I record.

Thanks for any help offered!

A:Troubleshooting Severe Latency Issues

Information on your PC's hardware would help. In addition what is the reason for looking at latency? If its for audio recording, the Latency that is reported by problems such as the DPC latency checker are not directly related to audio latency (I have a recording studio using Sonar X2).

If you have a Gigabyte motherboard and have installed Easy Tune 6, the Easy Tune program is a known cause of latency spikes such as displayed by the DPC Latency Checker.

Recording latency is another issue. Those of us with computer based recording studios are well attuned to that. If you are trying to record with a PC sound card, forget it. Get a "real" recording interface unit, even a small one such as a Focusrite Scarlett, Roland Duo-Capture, etc. I'm using a Roland Octa-Capture and have acceptable latency in the 5ms area. I also have an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R and get about the same with that. Both of these units are USB connected devices. I previously had a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 (Firewire connected unit) and about 12ms was the best I could do with that.

I get crackles and delays in audio (when watching videos online as well as in files offline). I have tried reinstalling drivers and disabling audio enhancements but that hasn't helped. I've tried a tool called LatencyMon and it points to the network drivers. One of the solutions is to set CPU minimum state to 100% (default value is 5%) but obviously this isn't a good solution.

My laptop is Acer Gateway NE56R (Pentium Dual Core B960 CPU, 4GB RAM)
Gateway website does not have drivers beyond Windows 8.1

LatencyMon Report hints towards ndis.sys (network adapter): http://prnt.sc/cj4ymg

UPDATE: It is confirmed that the wifi driver is behind this issue. Disabling the wifi adapter made the audio latency go away, but how do I find the right driver that won't cause this issue?

A:Audio Latency Issues since upgrading to Windows 10

Wi-Fi is a known cause of your problems. We had many posts on our sister Windows 7 and Windows 8 forums of this problem.
I did a Bing search and didn't come up with anything for this specific model, so I don't know if there are later drivers available for the Wi-Fi.

Having a 64 bit OS on only 4GB of RAM could be contributing to the problem. A 64 bit OS requires more memory than a 32 bit, thus less memory is available for other uses. A 32 bit OS would have been more appropriate on a PC such as this.

Hello, Are you certain your PC is compatible with Win 10? You will see some PCs suffer badly from this with Win 10. One common culprit for some people is Bitdefender (see my notes below). Diagnosing cause can be difficult, and you may need to resort to using MS's xperf analysis tool.

First please search the forum for 'stuttering crackling' using the search box above. You will get a lot of results:
See if you can find anything helpful.

Second, please post screenshots of LatencyMon and its various tabs here
Third, please do the same for your task manager when your PC is idle, making sure the processes using most CPU/RAM/DISK are at the top by clicking the appropriate tab.

Fourth, here are some notes I've collected:

Hello everyone, Happy New Year!

I just installed my Christmas present to my self, an Audioquest Dragonfly ver 1.2

While it does sound better then the internal sound card I have pops going along with the sound. I researched the problem and found that i have rather severe latency issues, (please see screenshot).

I am looking for advice as the best way to solve this problem. I am also experiencing issues with the audio and video not being in sync no matter what i do and was wondering if this latency issue may be the cause of this also.

A:I need help with latency issues causing audio pops

Considering this is a USB connected device, I would look at the USB for issues, if you didn't have problems previously with the on-board audio.

Also, if you haven't done it, disable the on-board audio in the BIOS to avoid any conflicts.

Hello all I'll try to make a somewhat long story short A couple of days ago I found my computer running unusually slowly when gaming My computer High when Latency issues playing DPC games. isn't a powerhouse but it's run just fine with certain games like GTA and Civ if the graphics options have been tweaked appropriately My sound started dropping out sounding static-like Tried checking the headphone jack and speakers which turned out to be fine on their own As I was playing the framerate would drop out with the noise seemingly trying to catch up as well After trying a number High DPC Latency issues when playing games. of regular things such as turning off programs that suck up CPU usage and memory it still didn't help Opened up my laptop and cleaned it out with an aircan thinking it might be due to dust Still no dice I read somewhere that it could be due to high dpc latency so I downloaded LatencyMon and a dpc latency checker After letting them run for a number of times along with Windows xperf it seems as though ndis sys was the issue I downloaded SlimDrivers to check on driver updates and it found that my network adapter Qualcomm Atheros ar wb-eg needed a new driver Downloaded that installed it and still dpc latency was high Tried disabling it via Device Manager and playing a game still no dice Found another possible driver causing the issue hdaudbus sys causing high latency Can't find a fix for this or ndis sys through other posts and tutorials Even tried going from Windows to Windows to see if the drivers would work better on the OS type but it made no difference Here's my specs Intel Core I - U CPU GHz GHz G RAMnVidia GT mQualcomm Atheros AR WB-EG I'm not one to usually post on forums about computer issues as I can usually solve them on my own but this latency issue has stumped me

A:High DPC Latency issues when playing games.

You have a pretty powerful computer. The biggest problems with games is that they are GPU intense and the GPU card needs the horsepower and a lot of RAM to handle them.

Hello Let me start from the beginning I was browsing a site on Internet Explorer because I didn t feel like starting up firefox big mistake one I won t make again and I got that oh so dreaded cmd prompt pop-up I knew I was infected with SOMETHING immediately I know the routine so I re-installed Malwarebytes and ran several scans It looked clean so I thought I was in the clear However it turns out I still had Issues/Lingering Internet Infection Latency a file called juabzoe dll in my system folder I unregistered and deleted it Somehow sometime after I restart it magically reappears under rundll exe Using Process Explorer I find two instances of rundll exe that have registered juabzoe dll The file is no-where to be found in my system folder Recently I ve also experienced some severe latency issues while playing a few games Warcraft III and World Internet Latency Issues/Lingering Infection of Warcraft to be specific If I restart my computer I can seemingly alleviate these symptoms but after a while they will return I am still unsure as to whether or not they are connected to juabzoe as I have ended both rundll exe processes and still had these latency problems I m looking to fix both of my problems if you all could help me Thank you

A:Internet Latency Issues/Lingering Infection

I'd like to mention that I have recently found out that my internet troubles with these games may in fact be related to comcast, as there are others experiencing the same symptoms.

However, that still leaves the rundll32.exe instances that pop up as (seemingly) random times during computer uptime. I'd like to remove all traces of malware from my computer if possible.

Thanks.

I've acquired (another) new computer, a Toshiba Satellite C655D running Windows 7. It is a laptop.

I am unfamiliar with the nature of a laptop touchpad because I have been a dedicated desktop user for 16 years.

This touchpad will sometimes open links when i'm scrolling by them, always wants to expand and open things when I scroll by them, will want to move them when i'm hovering over them.

The only things I want my touchpad to do are: move the cursor and click things when I want to click on them, and only move and expand things when I have one of the two buttons down - you know, like an actual mouse?

Is there a way to change this behavior?

This is a problem that has been driving me up the wall lately with my headset. A few months back I bought a headset called Plantatronics Gamecom 780. I put up with the issues for awhile since I was in school and had no real problem with restarting the computer to get rid of the issues. But it always comes back and I can't seem to get rid of it.

LatencyMon seems to show that the driver that is causing this is PLTGC.sys which is the driver that comes with my headset, uninstalling the driver has no effect on it. I have no other visible ports to plug the headset into on the computer (2.0 USB Port in the front is busted), so I only have the ones that come with the motherboard in the back.

I hope someone can help me with this.

I have a recording studio.

What type of latency problem are you having? If it is a latency problem. In recording, PC sound cards have poor latency and are considered poor for recording.

Have you run the DPC Latency Checker? The Resplendence Latency Monitor tends to go overboard some times.

On July th I did an upgrade from to Windows and as expected (Lenovo issues Latency Wifi 10 Windows Y50) 7260AC it came with it's minor problems So here is a Wifi issues 7260AC Windows 10 Latency (Lenovo Y50) desperate plead to the Lenovo community in hopes to find some answers about insanely high Wifi issues 7260AC Windows 10 Latency (Lenovo Y50) latency regarding Intel's Dual Band AC wireless adapter for the Lenovo Y FHD gaming notebook When on this piece of hardware caused me a lot of trouble Frequently dropping connections from my home network and completely refusing to connect to my University network unexpectedly after two or three months of it working just fine I had gone through about - various drivers before finding one which never gave me any issue what so ever nbsp After the upgrade to Windows the latest drivers were installed automatically as part of the update and as a result I've been getting INSANELY high ping in games like CS GO On it would be around - ms and now after the upgrade to Win it sits over - ms making the game literally unplayable Rubber banding when it drops below and when its above the latency is so high my character cant even move So here is what i've done to troubleshoot Tried other servers Still ridiculous ping Installed the latest supported Win driver for the adapter from Lenovo's website Same issue Tried other games to confirm its not just CS GO Both CSS and CS had the same high ping spike issues Restarted and reset my home router No difference Confirmed its not my ISP other PC's in the household running XP and are both perfectly fine Attempted to let windows update get what they believe is the latest working driver Add ScanWhenAssociated DWORD reg with Hex value of to the registry a solution that worked in previous versions of windows for this adapter Surprise surprise no goAnd finally to ensure its the network adapter in my laptop I plugged in a cheap Belkin N wifi usb-dongle CS GO works perfectly fine back to ms constantly No spikes No rubber banding So any ideas why my internal card is experiencing this issue I see no documentation online regarding this specific issue with this specific card on this specific operating system Just some vague messages regarding higher ping after Windows upgrade Im now certain its my internal wireless that is bugging out maybe because of interference My router is a Ghz standard so even though the card supports the Ghz frequency which I assume would be less crowded here in Toronto- There is no way I can test that with this card Any help would be much appriciated because as it stands im forced to use my external USB dongle until I can find a working solution As a side note when surfing the web streaming YouTube downloading files etc The card is performing as it did on Win In other words smooth fast responsive and no visible drops During a skype call i had frequent drops occouring once every - mins This leads me to believe there is heavy packet loss going on The current driver installed for the hardware is Intel's latest - - Please keep an open mind as I could be completely wrong about it being the AC card It is just my suspicion since it has given me trouble in the past and Intel has released some really shotty drivers in the hardware's life span The only reason I can almost confirm this is the fact that I have not experienced this high ping issue with the external wifi adapter I've posted on reddit intel forums and now Lenovo as its is now almost a week since the Windows upgrade launched and despite both Lenovo and Intel having Windows banners on their home page they are failing to provide the consumer with hardware that can perfrom properly thus forcing me to purchase a RD party external adapter as a temporary fix rendering internal wireless in the laptop uesless I should have known my struggles with this adapter in would carry over to Win but I turned a blind eye and am now being punished for it Any information on the topic would be much appreciated Solved Go... DPC Latency issues have tried SFC tweaking com windows repair tool Memtest Prime Updated audio and video drivers Updated Realtek PCIe GBE Card drivers Ruled out IRQ conflicts Reinstalled MediaMonkey my main music software manager No issues were identified and none of these has yielded persistent results Rebooting helps for a brief while as does uninstalling the Realtek ethernet card DPC Mon Audio stutter, judder, delays. I have come to the conclusion that this is the reason I have been disconnecting so very often. Are there any tips on how to correct this?

I had a traceroute program and it said that my IP was experiencing high latencies, and 90% packet loss.

How do I go about fixing the Nvidia Kernal Mode driver and the NDIS driver. I suspect these two drivers are causing all my latency issues after installing Win7.

I'm running:

Windows 7 Home Premium
HP Pavilion dv7 notebook PC
Intel Core 2Duo T6400 @ 2.00 Ghz

I've installed the latest drivers for everything possible, including flashing my BIOS.

Latency issue for what ??????

What are you trying to deduce from it ???

both of them show under 1.5 latency....thats for god sake in ms (millisecond).....

Hello All,

Many of us T520 owners have had problems with skipping/cracking/distorted audio as a result of DPC Latency Spikes. I have been reading every available thread on the topic and I found a simple solution in a T420 thread  that I wanted to share with any T520 users that may have overlooked it.

The Latency Spikes experienced by many users (including myself) were caused by the Ethernet Driver (Intel 82579LM Gigabit Adapter). The current T520 is loaded with Intel driver version 11.12.38.2001. However, if you revert to version 11.12.36.0 the issue disappears. You can download the driver directly from the HP website. (It is no longer available on the Lenovo Support Page)

Thanks again to the original T420 poster and GOOD LUCK!

Moderator Note: Links fixed.

Please edit the links in your post so that they are correctly formatted, and then when that's done can this be forwarded to a forum moderator for submission to Lenovo? If this conclusively fixes the problem their driver download should be rolled back.

Forum member nasdaq helped to remove the last traces of a serious infection I picked up via a PDF see that thread for background info here nasdaq suggested I start a new thread here to fix the remaining problem The computer has been scanning clean for quite some time now but I am still experiencing DPC latency related audio dropouts that started with the infection I have updated all of my drivers the BIOS Firefox Java Flash and Adobe Reader The dropouts tend to start when I interact with the operating system minimizing and maximizing windows going to Show Desktop etc but they seem especially likely to start when I play online video or audio streams When latency issues PDF/Java and DPC removed, dropouts audio rootkit the dropouts start I get PDF/Java rootkit removed, audio dropouts and DPC latency issues an audio stutter once per second This can go on for quite a long time even after all applications are closed and even with almost all devices disabled in Device Manager Then the problem will stop and everything will work normally for a while This is a typical example of what the DPC latency looks like when the dropouts begin Any help will be appreciated

Hi All I've been having issues with latency after a recent build and fresh install of Win Home Premium When playing video especially online I see horizontal bars flash randomly on the video screen I also hear audio crackles cut outs when I'm playing music through Foobar and browsing the web - acpi.sys - Issues Latency & Audio, Major ndis.sys, dxkrnl.sys, Video usually when navigating to a new page opening a new tab Major Latency Issues - Video & Audio, dxkrnl.sys, ndis.sys, acpi.sys mousing over an auto-dropdown these types of things I've been reading up on these issues and Major Latency Issues - Video & Audio, dxkrnl.sys, ndis.sys, acpi.sys have updated my Realtek drivers I've been using a Rosewill wireless USB adapter for internet but have noticed the same issues when connected directly to my modem as well Only thing is I don't see iusb xhc sys affecting latency any longer when I'm connected directly When I disable my LAN controller I see the issue with ndis sys disappear and it's not affecting my latency as reported by Latency Monitor When directly connected I do still see ndis sys coming up as a latency issue in Latency Monitor I have just uninstalled my Nvidia video drivers to see what effect it would have on the Latency Monitor finding dxgkrnl sys being the King of latency-causing affairs on my troubled system Now this file is not causing issues So now being directly Major Latency Issues - Video & Audio, dxkrnl.sys, ndis.sys, acpi.sys connected to my modem with no video drivers installed the issues come up as seen in my attachment ACPI sys and ndis sys I'm at wit's end what is my next step to get this fixed Thanks ahead of time for your assistance

Is this  Aurora R5 running windows 10?
The update strangers on the internet feature should be turned off.
ALL of the live tiles on the playschool screen should be made dead.
All of the live tiles you don't actually use should be DE installed.
Finally IP6 and Teredo tunneling should be turned off.
as well as killing Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol (ISATAP)

From an Admin Command Prompt.
netsh int ipv6 isatap set state disabled
netsh int ipv6 6to4 set state disabled
netsh interface teredo set state disable
To re-enable isatap teredo and 6to4, just replace the disabled with type=default.

Hello, I have an older tosiba laptop that was funning fine. For the past 2 days, I cannot get on the internet. My network connection cannot aquire an IP address. Here is what I've tried so far:
1. ipconfig gives me 0.0.0.0
2. checked tcp/ip properties
3. cat 5e wiring good from router to cpu
4. moved cpu to all ports on router, and even connected cpu directly to cable modem
5. My other laptop and desktop are able to get IP's
6. windows device manager says network adapter ok
7. link lights on laptop and router are lit

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
