P5E Lifestyle Board SoundMax to Asus P8H67

Q: P5E Lifestyle Board SoundMax to Asus P8H67

Bought me recently a new MoBo: P8H67, installed it, killed Realtek onboard in the BIOS, all thus far goes splendid.
Put in SoundMax (from my P5E Lifestyle), hardware checks ok.
Install driver... and here things go awkward: no matter what I try: SoundMax Hi Def is not found/recognized.
Tried both the DVD-soft that came with me P5E, as well as online new drivers, to no use...

Reason for SoundMax: I was slightly baffled by the power behind the tiny card, it was literally mindblowing (over my JBL's).
This power is not found on Realtek hardware, hence.

Prob: I want to keep using the tiny SoundMax, but I desperately need a driver.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just noticed that one part of the temperature is really high. Its constantly 80+ celcius. Is it really overheating that much or could it be reading it wrong? Its under no load and still that hot.

See? I doubt that is normal. How can I check if its a false reading or if its really burning up, wouldn't I get BSOD?

A:Asus P8H67 overheating badly?

I wouldn't worry too much about that Temp. It usually reads a wrong temperature from my experience. Mine has always been 60c never lower or higher lol even in the winter months.

A:Problem with HDMI TV to ASUS P8H67 Mobo w/I7 HD Graphics

Yikes- I just built my HTPC last night w/ a VGA LCD monitor, hooked it up to an older 768p tv tonight (it has HDCP) via HDMI and I'm getting the exact same blue-screen as you. I'll get the Windows boot graphics, and then no graphics after that on my TV. If I hook up both the TV and the LCD via VGA at the same time, the LCD blinks on and off and on and off, but no picture on either device.

BTW- I've got an ASUS P8H67 EVO board (B3 rev) with a Core i3-2100t.

If you find out what's going on, please post here! I was going to try the DVI->HDMI cable tomorrow- I'm not happy to hear that you've already tried that and it didn't work for you. I was thinking the HTPC doesn't like my old 768p TV and I thought I'd use DVI and separate audio until I get a newer 1080p TV later in the year...

I've got a smaller 1080p TV. I'll try that tomorrow. I did try two different HDMI cables tonight.

Good luck- and again, please post back here if you find a solution- I'll do the same!

The driver (last release) installed OK.
But under DxDiag it says that there is no SoundCard...
I have reinstalled the driver several time with no success.
In fact, under System Information, Composant, Multimedia it says that aeaudio.sys, migrate.dll, smsens.sys et swdmsmchore6.inf are not installed. But when I look at the Driver Detail under System Property for Soundmax they are correctly listed...

First of all, i'm quite a noob in hardware.

My problem is that after like half a year with good sound and working mic, suddenly my mic has stopped working, sound is still fine though.
I have not changed anything in the settings or on my mic or placed the plugs diffrent, it just happened without any clear reason.
I'm sure it's not my mic having the problem, other mic's don't work here aswell.

I have re-installed my SoundMAX drivers with my ASUS CD, when it asks me to reboot my pc, I do this and my mic actually works for like 5 seconds until I see the windows logo before signing in.
I use windows Vista, with an ASUS P5ND2 SE motherboard.

I have no idea what to try next, if anyone has an idea or more info you might need first, please tell me or ask!

Just posting up the driver I used for my onboard sound card. It's a 'soundmax' but I used the Realtek ALC650 driver:

It works fine outputting PCM via the s/pdif port but I've had no success outputting DTS or Dolby Digital.

In Windows XP I could run Intervideo WinDVD 4/6/7 and DTS / Dolby worked fine. All other software, even when using AC3 filter failed to output anything but stereo.

If anybody has any success with this please let me know.

A:Asus Motherboard P4S800D-X Audio Driver For SoundMAX

You go here:

Use the download shortcut at top left hand side and get the appropriate driver for your OS and then download and install.

I usually recommend:

To install drivers from the internet:

go into Windows Explorer, left click on Desktop, then File, then New and then Folder - name the folder XXXDrivers (where XXX = type, eg, AudioDrivers)

go to the site for your driver, find the RIGHT one for your mobo and OS,(click on the nearest site to you if appropriate) and then download button - when asked where to 'save' the download specify your desktop folder XXXDrivers and wait until the download is complete.

Once it is done, clear your screen and click on the desktop folder and then on the file inside - if it is a zip or rar file it will need to be unzipped or unpacked - make sure if you are asked to specify where to unzip/unpack to tell it to do so to the XXXDrivers folder.

Once you are done that, uninstall the old drivers for the device and then select the device and specify update drivers and direct the search to the folder you made (don't let Windows do it).

A:Problems with SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio on ASUS P5Q Deluxe

Set up the PC with ONLY the soundmax and analog PC speakers connected to the speaker jack on the PC. Do not have other USB headsets or whatever connected. Just the basic system. You will probably also have HDMI audio (from the video card). Do not have any HDMI cable attached.

Try this to determine if the sound will work OK. You may have to either reinstall Soundmax or go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the Soundmax then LEFT click "uninstall" DO NOT check the box to also uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the Soundmax sound.

So someone I know had me look at a laptop of theirs, an ASUS X54C laptop, which has 2 GB of non-removable RAM built into the motherboard. I used memtest86+ to check it and it immediately came back with all sorts of errors.

From the outside (minus the cover for access to the HD and RAM slots) there does not appear to be any additional RAM installed at all (the slots are empty). So I was wondering, by chance, if you add RAM into one of these slots, does the motherboard stop using the on-board RAM and switch over to the stuff you put into the slot, or does it use both the on-board and "off-board" RAM side by side?

Hi guys and girls,

I have just recently acquired an Asus P5VD2-MX Motherboard from a friend and he had no issues.
I have installed this board with a 500W PSU (which has a 20pin to 24pin adapter on it) a new Intel 2.0ghz dual core (think its E21.. something, sorry) and 2x1gb RAM and I have updated the bios to the newest update and it recognises all of this fine, no problems there by the looks of it.

But the bios does not recognise ANY of my IDE devices e.i. 2 different HDDs an old CD rom and a new Pioneer 112 DVDRW.
I'm racking my brains and I cant figure out why on earth it wont see any of these drives.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

A:Asus P5VD2-MX board cant see ANY IDE drives

I'm pretty sure if you go searching in the BIOS, you'll find Enable / Disable IDE.

The easiest way to see if it's a BIOS setting is to "Load default {or Optimal}" settings.

Double check your jumpers on the devices, though I assume you've tried at least 1 on it's own.

I wanted to upgrade my processor so I purchased an Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8400. However I cannot get it to work on my ASUS P5NSLI Motherboard. I downloaded the latest BIOS (1502) from the ASUS website, but am unable to flash the BIOS. Whenever I run the EZ BIOS, it scans the new BIOS, and tells me that the new BIOS is not the correct one for my system. I tried to just install the new processor, and then update the BIOS, but my system won't even post with the new chip in. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Troops,

I'm getting a message that 'no drives intstalled' on an
ASUS AV7-133, yet two hard-drives are installed, as well
as two CD-ROMS.

The exact message:

ULTRA100 Bios is not installed because there are no drives attached

There are IDE controllers for ide drives, in fact a total of four. (and floppy)

Each set of two has a blue base and a black base for the IDE cables. I've
found that it relates to a RAID 0 array, but I only want a regular Master-
Slave hard drive setup.

I can't find how to change it in the BIOS, and I've tried pluging the HDDs
in in various configurations and it still either recognizes the two CD-ROMS,
or the two HDDs - but still doesn't get all four, like it's supposed to be.

Haaaaalllllllp TIA

Are you using a hard drive with Windows 7 already installed on it from another pc? If yes then no you have to install Windows 7 onto this computer and please remember one license per pc so if this hard drive has Windows 7 from another pc, you cannot use the same disk to install new to another hard drive that is already in use on another pc.

This is my new motherboard, which I'm installing on the the moment I have a crappy SoundBlaster 128 (stereo) sound card.

Should I stick with that, or should I use the onboard sound [is it dolby 5.1? ]? If so, what speakers should I get? (under £70 please)

Is it worth using the onboard sound or should I save for an Audigy 2?

BTW - will one reduce system performance more than the other?

A:On Board 6 channel sound - Asus A7V333

Well, I just got the A7V8X, and are using the onboard sound...

I found that I can't really tell much of a difference between it, and my old SB Live!...

And all my old problems with Creative cards and Via chipsets are gone
No longer cracking in sound when copying files, no more slow file copying, no more system crashes...

So in short, use it instead of your 128... I'm not quite sure when it comes to Audigy... The Q is, how good are your speakers? If they are of a premium quality, you might get a bit better sound with the Audigy, but if you're just using a set of OK speakers...

OK so I had a similar issue with sound in Windows that has been described multiple times in this forum The sound was crackling and buzzing so I installed Realtek audio drivers as suggested in this forum and it started working albeit temporarily The sound will now work fine for a number of minutes sometimes up to minutes before wigging out and freezing the application that is running sound or sometimes even the whole damn machine So after some investigation and reading I believe I am on the correct tack to solving this problem but have hit a snag I have the ASUS P TE board with onboard audio The driver I downloaded from Realtek by following a link in a forum post Realtek was the Realtek HD audio driver Now I m pretty sure my board is not the HD audio board but rather the standard AC board I have a CD that contains these drivers but when I try to run it in Windows I am greeted with the This CD Sound Board) Issues More (ASUS Integrated is not supported by this OS message Ok so I downloaded the AC driver off the same page I used for the HD driver I m pretty sure this is the right driver as I said above and this was further solidified as I recognize the installation menu However now More Sound Issues (ASUS Integrated Board) I have an error message This driver is not More Sound Issues (ASUS Integrated Board) digitally signed Of course I am given the option to proceed with the installation anyway or to cancel I click proceed anyway and the error message just keeps re-appearing in an endless loop though it cheerfully responds when I click cancel and terminates the installation sigh So two ways this can go Can I fake a digital signature or get a signed driver from Realtek for the AC Figure out how to bypass the digital signature required by Window security I ve already tried a few things with Option with no joy at all if anyone knows I would greatly appreciate it Thanks

A:Configuring 2 x 3TB drives with Asus m'board and UEFI

The drives have to be GPT (GUID) and the BIOS has to be set to UEFI and you have to jump through some hoops to get Win 7 to install on a UEFI system. Check the forum tutorials for installing windows on a UEFI system.

Hi Everyone,

I have a new motherboard (Maximus v Gene) and I've brought a Icy Box (IB-865) card reader to make use of the USB 3 connector on the motherboard. However the unit works well for a dozen reboots and then it malfunctions. After a dozen reboots the Icy Box power light no longer powers up and the storage cards I plug into the unit no longer show up in windows. The only way i can resolve the issue is to open up the case and unplug and plug the unit back in. Its not faulty as i've retunred one unit thinking it was faulty but the same fault as reappeared on the new unit. I've tried upgrading and downgrading the BIOS and playing with a few settings but no joy. Can anyone think of anything i can try without having to keep opening up the case?

Thanks in advance

A:Icy Box (IB-865) on a ASUS Maximus v Gene Board USB 3 incompatible?

It could be that it gets put to sleep for no good reason (it happens), try the following:

Go to your Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > and click on the "Device Manager" button.

In the Device Manager window, find the item or items labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Open it, and double-click the first item called "USB Root Hub."

In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog, click on the "Power Management" tab.

"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked by default.

Uncheck this box, and click "OK."

Repeat for all "Universal Serial Bus controllers." items if there is more than one.

Should there be any problem using nVIDIA nforce4 drivers from their website on an ASUS A8N-E board with the nvidia nforce4 ultra chipset? Is there any advantage to using the nvidia drivers, if possible? Or are the ASUS ones good enough? Installing from ASUS drivers seems to be just running nVIDIA install files but the version numbering appears to be different... what the deal?

A:Using nVIDIA chipset drivers on ASUS board

Yes you can use the NForce4 drivers from the Nvidia website instead of the ASUS provided ones. One possible advantage is that the Nvidia provided drivers are the latest and may include new performance tweaks and compatibility fixes.

Asus in many cases uses their own numbering scheme. Its best to go by date. Sometimes ASUS makes small tweaks of their own to the drivers, like putting in their own logo, but the driver is basically the same one that NVidia released, although like I said before it might be an older version of the driver.

Asus has nothing to do with the drivers they all come from Nvidia, about all Asus might do with them is change the installer slightly so that it includes their name. Also Nvidia declared the NF4 legacy status quite a while ago (shortly after Vista came out), and there will be no more NF4 drivers.

You have a couple of options with that NF4,

1. Use it with the drivers that Windows installed (which come from Nvidia), which are sufficient for everything to work as it should.

2. If you really want something newer than what Windows installs have a look here,

View forum - nForce Drivers •

Personally I would just go with option #1, and did with almost the same board as yours (A8N-SLI SE) and it works as well in 7 as it did in Vista.

One of my comps broke a while back, so I decided to get a new mother board and processor for it... so i got an asus one.. the computer is gateway (used intel processor) and i decided to just use the gateway case and instal the mb in there.

Now the problem is that the cord that goes from the BOOT button to the mb doesn't FIT on the new motherboard.. there is no place to plug it in! I read the manual and there is a 2 pin boot thingy from what I understand.. but it says that it requires an ATX power supply.. I don't see how a power supply will solve the problem though? I just need to be able to boot up the freaking mother board! Anyone know anything about this?

Please help.

A:Need help booting up an ASUS A7V8X-X mother board..

Hello Kaban and welcome to techSpot.

the problem with computers like Dell and gateway is they use alot of proprietary stuff as you have just found out. what goes from the "Boot" button to the Mobo is the connectors that have to be made for the machine to receive the command to boot, turn off, reset, hard drive light etc.

Different boards arrange these pins differently unless you have the wiring and some skills to change this to match your new board you are going to need a new case.

Hello everyone

I built my own system a couple of years ago and I am now facing a technical problem.

My graphics currently rely on the Radeon HD 4770. I decided I would like to display my desktop on my television via HDMI cable.

After staring at a blank screen for a while and scratching my head I realised HDMI must rely on integrated graphics. I went into bios, Northbridge, Integrated Graphis which presented 4 configuration options and not knowing what these mean I just chose IGFX-GFX0-GPP-PCI.

This just led to a blank monitor and I had to reset my BIOS via battery removal to get back into my system. What configuration should I choose? How can I get my desktop displayed on my TV?

Your help is really appreciated.

The best way to test a pw supply is to swap in a known good unit for testing. While there are pw supply testers, they are not always 100% accurate.

At this point, I would not put any money into this system. it is at least 6 generations old tech and not worth anything. A new modern mb, cpu, and ram would cost less than attempting to fix this one. For approx $175 or less you can have a new 3.4gig cpu, modern mb, and ram.

If you are doing this for a learning experience, then it is fine [as long as you get the parts free or near free] If you are doing this to attempt to save money, you are throwing your money away.

As soon as you removed the jumper to put audio to your front panel you unhook the back panel audio. It only works on front or back. I had same problem. There are 2 jumpers one goes on the first 2 pins , then skip a row and put the second one on the 3rd row , this is right and left audio. Look in book for L & bline and R and b-line and jumper this back the way it came and you will have audio.

I'm running Windows XP Pro 64 bit and have no Audio

In device manager there are no exclamation marks under Sounds and Audio Devices but even deleting and trying to reinstall won't work.

I've even tried a different sound card with the same end results. I updated the sound drivers but they won't cure the problem either.

When I go into Control Panel | Sound & Audio Devices it simply states 'No Audio Device' under the Volume tab. I'm unable to choose Advance as it is greyed out.

Don't know what caused this as I often have the volume turned down but I've been going round in circles for weeks trying to sort.

A:cant get radeon 9550 to work on my asus cubx board

one long and 3 short beeps..this sound like conventional/extended moemory failure(problem with the ram).its really simple just take out your ram carefully blow off any dust on it or on the ram port and put it back in.usually this fixes it,its quite common so dont worry.

i recently installed an SPDIF module and connected it to the correct header (module made specifically for this board. my device manage and applications don't see it. ASUS tech support suggested:
"Once the connection is in place, you will need to uninstall and then
reinstall the onboard AUDIO drivers. The drivers for your SPDIF will then
be loaded and the port activated. Thanks."

in add/remove I have entries for;
Nvidia display driver
Nvidia Nforce drivers
Nvidia Nforce utilities
Nvidia WDM drivers
Nvidia windows 200/xp Nforce drivers

I understood the Nforce drivers were unified and not too excited about uninstalling all the display and audio drivers, as I have seen some reports about difficulty reinstalliing after SP2 which I have installed.

any suggestions appreciated. the module is used for digital input from my son's home recording efforts.dave

A:Spdif module added to asus A7N8X deluxe board

You should be able to uninstall just the audio drivers via the device manager. Click start, settings, control panel. Double click system. Select the hardware tab and then click on device manager. Scroll down to the audio device, right click andd uninstall. Save out and reboot. windows should refind your audio device and reinstall the drivers.

It could be defective. I once had a modem that would make Windows freez on startup. I also had this problem on a CD-Rom drive that went bad on me. It just may not working right. Send it back, where-ever it came from and try another.

Hello all. This is my first post here. I Bought a scsi hard drive.

Maxtor 18GB SCSI Hard Drive
Formatted capacity: 18.4GB
Interface: Ultra160 Wide LVD SCSI-3, 80-pin (80 to 68-pin SCA adapter included)
Rotational speed: 10,000 RPM
Average seek time: 4.7 ms
Cache: 8MB

I have the ASUS a7n8x deluxe mother board. What pci scsi adaptor card do I get to run the hard drive? What cable do I need?

This is my first time using a scsi drive. I did a search on newegg and saw a range from $22 - $400+. Please educate me in the ways!

A:Installing a scsi hard drive on an asus a7n8x deluxe board

Anything from Adaptec is perfect, but not always the cheapest.
It's what I use on no less than 3 of my PCs.
Brandnew Adaptec ASC-39160 Dual Channel Ultra160 SCSI Controller, $139.-
Brandnew bulk LSI Logic LSIU160 single channel Ultra160 all purpose controller $35.-

They have a whole collection of others, as well as loads of information there.
You could try and pick up a used card on Ebay as well.

You will also need a 68-pin internal flatcable with a terminator.
Look around on that website.

Also go to
for a bit of background.

Every so often I find that the computer has rebooted on its own & numerous times while Reencoding Video I get Unexpected shutdowns. One of the errors shown is 0000000000041287, another is 0000000000000080 . It doesn't happen all the time but makes my computer unreliable. I tried to do a Memory test with MemTest 86+ v 4.20 but it freezes on me within 3 minutes of the test and I can not use keyboard or mouse & I have to reboot.

Crucial shows that this memory is fully compatible with my Asus P5QC Motherboard. I would like to post here some PDF files of these Unexpected Shutdowns but I honestly don't know how to add them in here.

I'm frustrated & have a feeling the MEMORY has intermittent failures.

Would appreciate help as I'm really not a Techie.

Are you trying to run the memtest from a bootable disc?

Do you experience the problem when using only 1 stick of RAM?

Regardless of which slot is used?

You're probably laughing, as I doubt you get anything other than a very mediocre motherboard.  I've read so many criticisms of Dell, their customer service, their poor parts quality, that I don't know if this machine is of the quality I would like.
The only thing I could find by calling Dell is that the board is PROBABLY (though they are not sure, which seems really shoddy),  is probably an INTEL LYNX . Z87., but is branded "Dell"
Also, doing a Google search on XPS 8700 motherboard, Tom's Hardware says it is the following:

A:XPS 8700 - Who makes the motherboard? Is it quality with solid capacitors like an MSI or ASUS board?

Hi Muscibrain,
Dell motherboards are manufactured to their specifications with Intel chipsets.

First try pulling out ram and reinstalling it. If that doesnt work try removing one stick at a time and rebooting. If it boots then the stick you have removed is bad. It may not hurt to clear CMOS also. Refer to your motherboard specs for procedure. Or just remove the battery on the board for about 15-30 seconds to reset. I have also seen a bad battery cause some weird problems but dont know any procedures for testing it except replace with a known good part.

A:from pc chips board to msi board..same problem

If ur not posting and considering what u've done coupled with the MSI diagnostics it is very likely there is a problem with this cpu.
You need to get a hold of another compatible AMD cpu just to see if u can post, from there u can confront the ebay seller for any restitution ovr the cpu if there was any kind of guarantee offered at all with the purchased items.
