Integrated graphics card in PCI-Express slot

Q: Integrated graphics card in PCI-Express slot

Hello My first post
Anyway i really need to upgrade my computers graphics card ( Nvidia 7600 GS 512mb intergrated version) as its flagging in this day and age and its stopping me playing most games now (i can just scrape skyrim but it falls under its min requirments) I will get a top of the range laptop soon when i go to uni but will keep my desktop for now so i need to add a better graphics card (Rest seem to be fine for the mo) .The problem is the integrated cards is already in the PCI express slot (opened up comp and i can see it in the slot) will be safe to remove the board and would a new card function in it Thanks for the help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Integrated graphics card in PCI-Express slot

If the 7600 is in the PCI e slot, by definition it is not integrated. You should be able to pull it out and swap in a newer card without any issues, so long as your power supply can handle it. Be sure to remove your old graphics drivers before performing the upgrade.

This was really perplexing. I am trying to install a Galaxy GT520 on my Inspiron 546. So i take of the slot i need in the back-plate and fit the card into the slot. But...the card didn't fit into the back-plate. It's like a millimeter off.... There is a little slot that the back-plate slots go into but it doesn't fit into the slot. It's almost like it needs to be a millimeter longer. Thanks to anyone who helps.

GT520 is a PCI and should fit the 546, line it up as ^^^^ shows and press hard, dont ram it in there, but apply a bit of force.

Hi all!
I have searched Windows 7 forums & Google but could find nothing that made sense to me. I have an HP desktop computer running Windows Seven. I bought a new graphics card that comes with software. Can somebody walk me through step by step on how to disable the integrated graphics and installing a PCI one. This confuses me. Please help!

A:Intall new graphics from integrated to PCI express

Without the model of HP Desktop, it's tough to figure out. Though it being HP, you probably won't be able to go in and disable it in the BIOS although you shouldn't need to as when you install the new video card, the integrated one should disable itself and the discrete video card will take over; this is what occurs in most cases.

I just bought a HP Pavilion tx2525nr that has a Express Card/34 PC Card Slot.
I was told that the Clearwire Express card would be compatable, but it turns out the Clearwire card is an Express 54.

Is there an adaptor that will allow me to use the Clearwire Express 54 with the HP Express Card/34 PC Card Slot that my laptop notebook has?

If not an adapter, is there another viable solution?

I just plugged my monitor into the new card (HD4770) and it works, did not disable or uninstall the integrated graphics. the integrated is a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE chipset. The performance index went higher on paper but other than having better resolution I don't see a huge improvment. I still have video lag trying to watch streaming hd movies and my new camera (Panasonic Lumix ZS7) wont play video in HD over my computer. Must I disable and even uninstall the old integrated graphics too or am I missing something else?

Hey, recently, I have came up with an idea of a fourth monitor, but my GPU (970) supports only three, which ones that I own. It has fourth one but I don't have the right cables for it for now.
I noticed that my motherboard has two open video ports, one being VGA which I needed. So, I tried just plugging it in and seeing what happens but it doesn't seem to work, I have tried looking for results around the internet and BIOS but they don't seem to work. The three monitors which I have plugged into my GPU, work perfectly fine, but, as I said, the motherboard's VGA port doesn't work. I have heard that such thing definitely is possible, but I cannot find out what I need to do.

Does anyone have an answer to this?

Not a compatibility question, I'm fairly certain that wouldn't be an issue. The question is about overall performance gain. Looking at a Radeon R9 270, currently have a 5670. Here's a benchmark comparison from hwcompare.com - now I'm not a heavy gamer but I am running a mod on a particular favorite that could use a boost. Thing is, the m/b (being 2.0) can't take full advantage of the card otherwise it might be something of a no brainer. Card has excellent reviews and happens to be on sale.
So there's got to be some people here that have been in a similar situation, wondering spend the coin or not. Lets say the $ isn't an issue, just wondering about what to expect in actual gain.
Thanx.

A:PCI Express 3.0 card in 2.0 slot

Using a PCI-e 3.0 card in a PCI-e 2.0 slot will give less performance but not as much as one would think—maybe no more than 10% less—over what it would have done in a PCI-e slot. However, the newer PCI-e 3.0 card very well may give far better performance than an older PCI-e 2.0 card, even when running on only PCI-2.0.

I want to purchase a specific sound card for my laptop (the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook card), but, according to Dell, I do not have the required PCMCIA slot. Instead, I have an Express Card slot.

Would the PCMCIA soundcard work in the Express Card slot? Some of the Dell technicians have said that it will not work, but they have been wrong in the past.

Are there any other options if the sound card would not work in the Express slot? Dell said something about buying an adapter, but they weren't sure as to what kind that would be.

A:Express Card Slot?

It is indeed a memory card reader -- not an Express Card slot.   Neither of these systems will take an ExpressCard -- about the only systems in recent years that had/have the option are Latitude and Precision models -- none of the consumer systems (Inspiron/XPS/Vostro/Studio) of recent vintage support ExpressCards.

I've bought a new pc and it comes with an integrated Geforce4 MX video card. Is it possible to remove this and buy a stand-alone graphics card. My pc comes with 512MB DDR RAM, but the video card uses 128MB of this memory, leaving me only with 384MB of RAM. If you can remove the card would the shared 128mb memory go bak to the 384mb and make it bak up to 512MB again.

Im grateful for any help

A:Integrated Graphics Card

Yep,

If you've got an AGP Port.. you could simply buy a better AGP card and stick it in, you would have to disable your on-board VGA though... but that will still free up your lost RAM.

Hi,

The file server I am currently using, is running on an old MS-7173 motherboard which (for some reason) is only kicking out about 45MB/s maximum throughput on file transfers, even though the CPU isn't anywhere near full. I am using a spare (I think cheap) Gigabit Network Card in the system at the moment which I had laying around.

I am considering getting an "Intel Gigabit PRO/ 1000CT PCIe Desktop Adapter" however, according to the specifications the card runs "PCI Specification Revision PCIe 1.1".

From the motherboard specifications, it uses: "One PCI Express x 1 slot. (supports PCI Express Bus specification v1.0a compliant) ".
My question is: Will that PCIe Card with revision v1.1 work in a motherboard with a v1.0a slot?

Thanks for your answers

With that board, you don't have enough PCI-e lanes to go around on without losing your rear USB 3.0 ports or losing a bit of performance on your 7970. The 7970 goes in the red x16 slot. The Blackmagic can go in either the top or second x1 slot.

The only way you will be able to run the x4 Datapath without reducing GPU peerformance is in the bottom slot, in which case, you would have to reset the slot to x4, which means you would lose the third PCI-e x1 slot and two USB 3.0 ports on the rear. If you need those rear USB 3.0 ports, then you would have to run the x4 Data path in the white x16 slot. That will cause your GPU to run on only eight lanes (x8). However, the performance loss won't be 50%. At worst, it would probably be only 10-20%.

PCI-e lane distribution can be difficult to sort out. Some boards offer more flexibility than others. Some boards use additional chips to run ports like USB 3.0 and SATA; others steal lanes from PCI-e slots. Because I needed more lanes than a standard board could support (24 lanes), I went with a x79 board to get 40 lanes. Even then, I had problems being able to run as many cards as I wanted (I wound up getting two external TV tuners instead of two internal TV tuner cards) .

If my motherboard currently has an intigrated graphics card, but has a PCI-E slot, do I need to do anything special after inserteing my graphics card and installing the drivers, or should it just work right away?

A:How do you switch from an integrated graphics card to an "external" graphics card?

Most modern PCs will detect the new installation of the PCI graphics card and automatically disable the onboard graphics, so yes it should just work.

If for some reason you have problems, you may have to make a change in the bios, I cannot be more specific because each bios is different depending on manufacturer, and model of the motherboard.

Install the card, connect your monitor to it and boot up, when you get into Windows install the driver and reboot.

I have a dell laptop with a dock that allows you to add pci cards. I have an ati card in there now running 2 monitors. The dock also has a vga out that i am assuming is being driven by the integrated onboard graphics from the laptop. I want 3 monitors. Is it possible to do this by driving 2 off of the pci card and 1 off of the integrated graphics? I read somewhere that you may need to look through the bios to make sure that your computer doesn't automatically disable the onboard graphics once a card is plugged in. Is this true?

A:3 monitors with pci card and integrated graphics?

Yes. This totally depends on your onboard graphics. Some will allow you to use both the integrated video out as well as an add-on card, while other cards will only permit you to use one or the other.

If you post the exact model number of your laptop that will help! At the very least find out what the integrated card is.

A:Integrated graphics or PCI video card?

Integrated graphics are the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to performance. ANY fairly new graphics card would be much, much better.

Having AGP would make things a lot easier, but I'm sure ATI or Nvidia have made versions of their "older" cards in PCI format. I don't have the time to look them up right now, but the answer to your question is yes: they are definitely worth it.

Your integrated graphics should allow you to use a TV tuner quite happily, but you might want to make sure your drivers are up-to-date.

The best way to find out is to install your TV tuner, and then set things up. I assume you're using Windows Media Center for your TV playback?

You dont have an AGP slot so you are limited to PCI video cards. To change the video first remove the old video drivers in Add/Remove Programs, Turn off the computer and install the video card. Then boot into the BIOS and change Primary Video Adapter from onboard to PCI.

I confirmed it is the cause or maybe a 90% assurance that it is, since everytime I use the standard VGA, the BSOD doesn't occur. These are the log files, and I hope you could help me. I'm a total noob on these matters, so please bare with me

A:PC has BSOD when using Integrated Graphics Card

Hello and welcome Annie yes my friend you have a graphics driver problem. Now to get details of the system see my ditty
Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
Open each + down into the component itself and then click on it - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that device. See pic for example. Though a Google for that NVidia you quoted gives me the motherboard but try it anyway.

Disregard the top bit and look at Other components and my pic just click on the square for example motherboard and it will give you in depth details model serial no etc etc

PS Have just found this it is probably the driver you need NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 307.83 Driver WHQL now try it but you may have to uninstall the other but try it first.

I just bought a new computer. One thing I am wanting to do is convert vhs movies to dvd. My computer came with an integrated video card. I was wondering if I could purchase a new video card, one with video in, hoping there wouldn't be any conflict. Am I able to do this?

I am running Windows XP P4 2.6mhz.

Thank you,

Hi. I have an integrated intel 82810 graphics controller. I bought a geforce 4 mx420 pci card (i know not the best) installed it and saw little diffrence in my gaming performance (mostly counter-strike) with my integrated card i got about 30 fps, and with the geforce from 20-40! i decided to try a radeon 32mb card i had and it gave me more stable fps than the geforce about 30 lol.
so, i am using the radeon card right now ive installed it fine, i have the newest drivers, direct x all that. I deleted my integrated cards' drivers but everytime i restart they reapear in my device manager. Could this be the reason for my gaming performance?

I have an hp intel celeron processor, 320 md sdram, 766mhz, 20 gb.

help will be greatly appreaciated

Im trying to install a ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256 MB AGP 8x, into my old Dell Dimension 4600, replacing a Nvidia GeForce 5600, when i tried to boot up the PC with the ATI Card in i got no signal to the monitor from either DVI/VGA plugs, the card was working im thinking because the Fan on the card itself was working.

My video controller/slot is: AGP8X and i was told this card "ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256 MB AGP 8x" was compatible, was i lied too?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here has tried this, I have a spare monitor and wondering what you think about doing this. I have an OLD ATI Graphics card (fits PCIE of course) and I know it will work but wondering if it's worth the effort. My 560ti has only a 2 monitor capability and just 1 other PCIE x1 slot is free just above the card.

So anyone here tried this? (I know this works if you do it right.)

(N.B. I have read the websites about how to do this, I am looking for personal, first hand experience.)

A:PCI-E x16 Graphics Card to Fit a PCI-E slot.

Haven't tried it.

I'm confused, though. Are you trying to fit a PCI-E X16 card in an X1 slot? I don't think it's possible.

You can certainly try an X1 card in an X16 slot. I've never seen an X1 graphics card, although I know that they exist.

(I've got an X1 soundcard running in a slot that is X16 mechanical, X4 electrically.)

Hello everyone I am currently sitting here with a dilemma The problem I am facing takes back two weeks where I got my new graphic card MSI 2.0 slot sound Insert card into PCI Express possible? Ti I have a CoolerMaster HAF case my PSU is relatively small but compared to my older graphic card the new one is absolutely massive I also uses Asus P T Deluxe v Mobo which has PCI-E slots which I found out recently They are placed in this order from left to right xPCI-E slots x PCI slots x PCI-E slot I noticed that my card turns out to be at degrees when I'm running a game for instance because there is too little space between the graphic card and PSU which makes it very little to no airflow in between I decided to put my graphic Insert sound card into PCI Express 2.0 slot possible? card into the stand alone slot PCI-E to create some space But I have to sacrifice my sound card which I can't put it into the PCI slot no longer Also the sound card technically should be able to fit into a PCI-E slot correct me if I'm wrong but it doesn't reach out of the edge on the motherboard what should I do

A:Insert sound card into PCI Express 2.0 slot possible?

No it shouldn't as they are two completely different interfaces,

Conventional PCI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PCI Express - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Have you tried it with the sound card in the second PCI slot to see how it affects the video card temps? Could also try the sound card in the first PCI slot witth the video card in the second/middle PCI-E slot.

Failing all that it is either drop the sound card (which one by the way?) and use onboard, or get a PCI-E sound card that can then be put in any of the available PCI-E slots.

I tried to insert it and It just keeps sliding around. There is a little latch off to the side and I've press it and slid it around and tried pushing it. Nothing happens. I don't want to push it too hard or it will break.

I've had the laptop for four years and this is the first time I've tried inserting an express card. Did I break something?

Are there any tricks to do doing this? I'm doing this because I want to upgrade to USB3.

A:Problems with usb ports and express card slot

It sadly does seem quite likely you have caused a problem with the motherboard usb 'power grid' It is possible the bios has simply stuck the system into a protected mode in order to protect the hardware inside.
The only way I know to check that this is the case is to power down, unplug the laptop and remove the battery for about an hour, then attempt starting back up with no usb devices connected, and see if proper functionality returns. It could simply be as of the moment the laptop has never fully shutdown and been given a chance for the hardware to reset after the fault caused by the faulty plug.

Sadly in your current situation that would probably be the best case scenario.

A:Integrated graphics or silent card suggestions?

Trouble is you won't get a powerful GPU behind a passive heatsink.

I pfaffed around for ages before deciding on my own setup, and although I'm using a card which isn't passively cooled it's extremely quiet by comparison to many others - the fan idles pretty much the whole time but will rev up for extreme use (something that's never happened to mine, given I don't game personally).

My choice was this card...

A:Disabling an integrated graphics card in BIOS

Under BIOS Setup Utility > Advanced tab > Chipset > Southbridge configuration > Primary Graphics Adapter. Choose the option [PCIE -> PCI -> IGP].

This doesn't actually disable the IGP (onboard graphics) but it gives priority to the PCI-E graphics card which lets you use it.

Hi. I have recently aquired a very old computer (8-9 years old). I am looking at replacing the old agp graphics card because it is not working properly and then sell the computer for quite a low price. Any way.

I have looked in the case and took the card out and I belive that the graphics card slot is agp 2x. The card has two slots in it leading me to belive that it is a universal 1.5v 3.3v card. I am just wondering what cards my computer would accept and whether a 4x card would work ok in a 2x card slot.

Any help apreciated.

Provided that slot you have is agp x8 and not a slower slot then it should work fine.
Only thing, there was no mention of minimum psu spec in your link. You need to have a look at the label on the side of your psu for its wattage and its amperage on the 12volt rail.

You might want to blank out your windows serial so than no-one else can use it.

A:Graphics card broken or is it the slot?

Hey Falconet. I think I would be far more likely that the graphic card is flaky since in your research the beeps point to the graphics card. If the slot were damaged, chances are you wouldn't get it to work at all, and since it worked one day and not the next, and since the slot itself won't break on it's own, I would suspect the card first. It wouldn't hurt to check both connection points of the cable the next time, although the beeps indicate the card's operation itself as not being right.

Ok, so I am helping a friend upgrade his desktop's graphics card. Apperantally, he currently has an integrated card, ad I belive you can install a dedicated card despite that, correct? Also, we are not sure exactally what slot the card goes in, we belive it is this one:

A:Is this the slot for a graphics card? (Other questions as well)

It is possible. Does your friend have the MotherBoard Manual? Its best to be sure.

What's the model, and serial number of the board?

And yes you can install a separate card, but you have to disable the integrated graphics through the BIOS.

I'm curious about the PCIE technology. I know there are four PCIE types (1, 2, 4, and 16) all with different size slots. As it stands now there aren't very many card at all that use these slots except for Video Cards, which use the 16. My MOBO has two video card slots (I originally thought I would use that slot for another video card and still might do that) only one of which I am currently using.

Is there any intent in the future to use these slots (i.e., the 16s) for other add-on cards? Are the only for use for video cards?

My TECRA-S11-166 is faulty.

I need a new Notebook with *Express-Card-Slot* and (if its possible) RS232.
What kind of Notebook comes with a Express-Card-Slot ?

A:Defective Tecra S11 - Need new notebook with Express-Card-Slot

Hi

There are different Toshiba notebooks on the market and Toshiba releases new models in very short intervals.
I would recommend you to visit the Toshiba notebook product page and to compare the available series and models.
The Tecra laptops offer a business professional use and Portege series are very best in mobile computing.
The Satellite series are entertainment machines designed to provide exceptional all-round performance.

I m installing a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR card which says it ll work in either PCI Express x or x in look PCI x16 doesn't card 1800 Hauppauge right Express slot into a Asus P T motherboard The video card is blocking the single PCI Express x slot so I installed the tv card in the second x slot It didn t look right putting this short card into a long x slot as it was sort of curved over the unused pins When I booted my pc my bios was changed to boot from floppy and dates on my system changed I immediately shut down and pulled the card out after seeing the bios screen My question is Hauppauge 1800 card doesn't look right in PCI Express x16 slot should I try and install the tv card in the PCI Express x slot and move my video card to a different x slot as I have two others If so would this require alot of change or would Windows immediately recognize the move and automatically reconfigure OR should I try in the same x slot again and not worry if I m prompted to setup bios again Thanks nbsp

A:Hauppauge 1800 card doesn't look right in PCI Express x16 slot

I can't speak to the 1800 tuner, but I have the 1250 and it goes right into the PCI-E x1 slot. I think you have to install the Hauppage drivers before the card, and/or ignore the M$ "found new hardware" wizard. The 1250 is just a single tuner, that the only difference.

The 1250 card is on the same size PC board as the 1800. My board only has one PCI-E x 16 lane, so the the tuner has no other place to go but a PCI-E x 1 slot. It works just fine there. It didn't change the system date.

I don't think it, "doesn't look quite right there, but I had no preconception of how it was supposed to look in the first place.

I disable PCI Express slot in Computer Setup -- Security -- Slot Security on BIOS. I doesn't know that my onboard card wasn't working, and now,  machine doesn't start, machine beeps 6 times (video card error). I can't access the bios. I try reset CMOS, removing the Green Jumper, removing the battery, press CMOS button for 10 seconds, press power button (to remove remain energy. But nothing this works. Someone can help me? How i can reactivate PCI Express x16 ?

A:Video Card not recognized in PCI-Express x16 - Slot Security

Hi: If your onboard video adapter doesn't work, and resetting the CMOS doesn't work, you can try putting the PCI express x16 video card you have now into the white PCIe x4 slot (the white video card slot next to the black PCIe x16 slot), and see if you can get into the BIOS to change the PCI x 16 setting.  It might work in the x4 slot. If that doesn't work either, then you will have to install a PCI video card (one that goes into one of the white PCI slots) and use that to get into the BIOS so you can change the settings to enable the PCIe x16 slot. So, see if you can find a cheap, used, PCI video card on eBay, and that should allow you to have video again. You also need to make sure you have removed all connections from the PC when you reset the CMOS (all cables, power cord, mouse, monitor, etc).

Hello,

I have a HP Pavilion 533w machine with an integrated Intel 82845 graphics card. I have a new ATI Radeon card that I want to install. However, I am getting errors because of the onboard Intel card. I have disabled the card in the device manager but this is not helping. I need to figure out which jumpers to change on the motherboard. I believe the motherboard is a GL_VE motherboard, however I can not find any info. on how to disable this card so the PC does not recognize it. The BIOS is also of the "Phoneix" make and it has beenr ecently flashed, however, ther eis no option to NOT recognize the onboard BIOS. Can anyone tell me which jumpers to change or where I can go to find out?

Thank you!

A:disabling Intel integrated graphics card 82845 G

Try contacting HP about it.

I would think there would be some kind of option in the BIOS to disable it though... are you sure you looked hard enough? It could have a different name such as onboard VGA, onboard display device, display device selection or something similar.

Hi all!

I have PC on Asus P5B-V motherboard with integrated video card (Intel G965 based). It looks like the integrated video came to it end after a voltage jump. I tried to reanimate the PC by using PCI or PCI-e card, but I didn't found any jumpers on the MB except one resetting bios. Switching between graphics cards are possible from BIOS which I cannot see, and it looks that the default option is IGD.
May anybody suggest something or it will be better to throw this MB to waste bin?
Thanks in advance!

PS. I?m first time here ? sorry if I used incorrect sub-forum (and eternal sorry for my non-native English)

A:Integrated graphics card dead, it was primary by default

Well, here's what I would try. If you have the manual that came with the motherboard you can have a look and see what the BIOS layout looks like. After you've studied that a bit, try turning the computer on and navigating through the BIOS (without actually seeing it) by memory. You may be able to switch from onboard to a dedicated device that way. I know that sounds a little dull but it's gonna be tricky without having anything to look at.

the SIS Mirage2 Graphics Card is a lackluster card that will not run your game (well).

ps- the machine i'm probably going to buy is from Office Max. it's the compaq presario sr1538X-B desktop pc bundle. it's about $800.Click to expand...

not only is this computer oem, but it is a low performance machine. i strongly advise you to get a custom job available at a pc repair/sales shop near you, if there are any. if you want to know what to ask for, say so in your reply. even dells are better than compaq...

Hi,
I just installed a nvidia GeForce 8400GS graphics card with VGA and DVI ports in a year old eMachines pc with Windows 7 and an AMD athalon II processor. The monitor connected to the VGA port on the graphics card works beautifully. Then I tried to install a second monitor through the original on board VGA port, but it is no longer sending a signal now that the new graphics card is installed. It seems that windows is detecting a second VGA device when I try to change the display settings but the monitor gets no signal. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Hi

I hope this finds you well.

Yesterday I got a new 22" monitor for my desktop PC but as I only have a VIA/S3G Unichrome IPG graphics card I am unable to set the proper resolution for the new monitor.

I thought this would be fixed by getting a new graphics card so today I purchased a GeForce 9500GT only to find that it doesn't seem to slot into my motherboard. I fear I may have to return both the graphics card and monitor to the shop!

Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong? My motherboard is a KM400 8235.

Thanks for your time...and happy new year!

I just purchased this pre-built machine:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7375900

Acer Aspire AM3970-UR14P DT.SJYAA.003 Desktop PC

I'm attempting to order a graphics card upgrade ( probably an affordable Nvida GT 650 ti . Obviously the card will consume some space due to the fan. I'm trying to figure out if the card ( or a similar dual slot PCIx card) will fit onto the motherboard. I know from past experience that a lot of non-custom built PCs have little to no room for expansion.

I've searched all over the net about this particular model number of Acer Aspire and can come up with no information about the motherboard to check for myself.

Would anyone happen to know where i can find info about the motherboard for this particular model of Acer Aspire desktop?

** Also, i do intend on removing the included radeon card.

A:Will a dual slot graphics card fit in my machine?

It is hard to tell if it would fit the case, but the specs state that your computer only has a 300W Power Supply and that definitely will not work with the card you list.

hey guys i want a low cost graphics card for my pc .i have motherboard which has pcie x1 slot .could u suggest me list of low cost(50$-70$) graphics card having SM 5.0

A:want a low cost graphics card for pcie x1 slot

I'm not familiar with SM 5, but I believe that it is identical to DirectX 11 support.

This vendor only sells in the US and Canada, but it gives you some idea what exists:

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics / Video Cards, PCI Express x1, DirectX 11

Are you sure that your motherboard has no PCI-E X16 slot? The last person that I encountered here thought that his board had no PCI-E X16 slot, only X1, but he was mistaken.

I looked up the type of issue those beeps meant for my motherboard and it was a video error. It booted up and had to reinstall the new drivers for the GeForce 1650 (Integrated), but everything worked fine. I figured that meant my graphics card or RAM was broken, so I took it to my closest computer repair store. They tested the power supply to see if it was supplying enough power to the card and it passed. They also tested the RAM and the graphics card to see if they were broken, but they both passed. They told me to either leave it with them for a week or just use the integrated graphics (which of course stubborn me chose to take it home for now). I am willing to leave it at the store if necessary and I also have a compatible motherboard in mind that I could buy if that will solve the issue, but before I make any actions I figured I would take advantage of these forums and hold out on using the different card for a week or so.

Hello,
I just got a Asus A8N-SLI mother board and a pny 7800gt video card. The card only works in the bottom pci express slot though, when i try to plug into the top the monitor light keeps blinking like nothings going through. Everything seems to work fine when in the bottom slot but i am worried about the heat. I have my sound card close to that so theres not much flow between like their would be in the top slot. (also the top slot is blue, bottom is black, if that makes a difference) I left the default set at single card mode on the motherboard. Also being in that slot is the card running at full capacity? 16x?
My other specs are:

Antec 450Watt SmartPower 2.0 PSU
AMD 64 3700

thanks

The mini PCI-E is very ease to access under my keyboard and it just have to be inserted, and at system reboot, Windows7 will recognize straight that card and the proper Intel Turbo drivers.

It does act like "Windows ReadyBoost" & "Windows ReadyDrive" under 7 and Vista...so the system will load faster....boost the disk cache, load faster Apps & perform battery improvement.

Work on "Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset familly" & "Mobile Intel 4 Express Chip Familly".

Hi I installed service pack and now my computer is having all kinds of problems of course the money mongers at microsoft tell me to ask HP and the people at HP are complete s lately I spent hours trying to explain the problem to them and the best they could do was quot oh just Autodetect reinstalling conflicting integrated graphics card and with keeps video reinstall your graphics card that will fix it quot yea if you say so I tried that many times before even calling them Ok so the problem is I have a video card installed on my computer my mobo has intel integrated graphics I uninstalled the software for the integrated graphics and uninstalled it in the device manager I switched my display adapter to my PCI card instead of the onboard system in BIOS I installed my video card and everything was working fine until I had to restart back a few weeks ago Autodetect keeps reinstalling integrated graphics and conflicting with video card after I got SP Basically on start up windows starts normally and does not mention anything about finding new hardware However then once windows is running a little icon which is the same as the update driver icon in the device manager pops up in the system tray and says that windows has found a new display adapter you cant click on anything or stop it in anyway It just automatically detects and installs it its kind of the same as if you pluged in a plug and play USB keychain The beautiful thing about it is that once you uninstall it from device manager you have to restart and then on restart it gets automatically reinstalled and then you have to uninstall and restart and well you can just keep going forever and ever until you start smashing things So my question is how can this be fixed I can find no setting to disable automatic hardware detection which i vaugely remember being able to do before SP and I cant get the damn integrated graphics to stay dead Even with the integrated graphics disabled but not uninstalled the drivers are still loaded and conflict with my video card like crazy I used to be able to play farcry on high now I cant even get battlefield to run higher than fps Even if it is disabled it will just get re-enabled on restart What would the BIOS quot plug and play operating system quot do I would really appreciate if anyone could help nbsp

A:Autodetect keeps reinstalling integrated graphics and conflicting with video card

Have you disabled the onboard video with in BIOS?

And the plug and play might have something to do with it, but just leave that on.

ok so for this christmas i want a graphics card for my old dog hp media center pc m7067c

I don't know if its a PCI slot or a PCI express cause it really doesn't say so.....

So if it is a PCI, can i get one from best buy becuase it has the option to get a PCI video card or a PCI express.

The memory for it i guess they said it can hold 512 or 256mb.

A:What Graphics card slot is hp media center pc m7067c?

That's an old mobo....and all the slots PCI not PCIe. That being said you might find a decent PCI GPU for that mobo.

If you really want to get creative or ambitious, uprade your MOBO and RAM and then get a GPU. You can keep all your original hardware and case.

Hi,

I have a Radeon HD 4500 graphics card that's plugged into the PCI express slot on my motherboard.

The heat sink on the graphics card is huge and covers the next PCI slot down completely which I now need. I don't want to buy a new graphics card as the one I have works fine and I can't afford a new one.

I can take the heat sink off but I don't want the thing to overheat and blow.

I have looked for a heat sink but I can't find one this small enough to fit.

Can anyone offer a low cost solution to the problem?

The graphics card is a Radeon HD 4500.

Cheers

A:Graphics card heat sink blocking PCI slot

It will self destruct in the blink of an eye with no heat sink on it. Also, the current heat sink is as big as it is for a reason. IMHO putting a smaller one on is probably not a good idea unless it specifically states its compatible with that video card. Water cooling might work but that will likely cost as much as finding a new video card.
