Preferred Solution: Windows 10 v1511 build 10586 download error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What anti-virus are you using? Try uninstalling it. You can reinstall after the upgrade.
Same if you are using a firewall other than the built-in Windows firewall.

I have cleanly installed Windows 10 Pro. I then ran sfc /scannow (elevated command prompt) and I am receiving the usual errors that can't be fixed.
Normally the "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" command resolves this.

Unfortunately I am receiving the now famous "Error 0x800f081f"
I mounted the latest Windows 10 iso to drive "I" and ran the below command to access the install.esd file.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:I:\Sources\Install.esd:1 /limitaccess

This is not fixing my issue and I am still getting the "Error 0x800f081f". I have installed the latest build twice now and I am having the same result.
Am I doing it wrong and using the wrong commands or is the latest build corrupt?
I don't want to have to revert back to Windows 8.1.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the Razer Synapse software installed? That seems to have been what's caused it for me. Unfortunately I seem no longer to be able to trigger the update, darn it, as Windows now feels it has updated and all's fine (it hasn't).

As an Insider, assuming the upgrade was from an activated 10240 build with a logged in Insider MSA, then you should be OK - but ask in the Insider forum... I dropped out a long time ago.

The key and subsequent (blocked key) error code is irrelevant on such activations.

This method requires you to have an isodownloaded from Tech Bench.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/techbench

Once you have it downloaded from Tech Bench, right click at it > click Mount> leave it there.
Now go back to your elevated command prompt, at the flashing prompt, copy/paste this command line......................

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:d:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

Note : d is the drive where the iso is mounted. Change it if your driver letter is different.

DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image

When it is completed, you should get the report that the operation issuccessful.
Now run the sfc /scannow again. It should be ok this time.

You may have to run the sfc scan a few times for it to fix the files

Note the suggestion about deleting those folders in Safe Mode- or that fails, you can do it from by rebooting using installation medium, select Repair my PC, navigate to a command prompt, find your windows partition or disk, and delete the folders.

Also note that you should run Windows update to check you are up to date.

And now my network connection is gone. LAN cable is connected router is fine other PCs connect just fine i even tried changing LAN cables and ports on router. I see exclamation mark in task bar on network connection icon and it says no internet connection, local network is inaccessible too. there is no problems in device manager, it says network adapters working fine, automatic repair wizard can not find any problems.

I didn't want to lose my apps so downloaded the Windows 10 ISO and ran setup. Everything seemed to go OK until the PC restarted when the screen displayed 'Updating Windows' and at the point when it indicated all files had been uploaded and started to install drivers I got the message:

I've run sfc /scannow and DISM... to no avail.

Hi everyone,
Firstly, wish all of you have a nice day!
I'm facing with a problem on Windows 10. When I see video, I open it the first time, no problem is happened. But when I try to open it again, it's opened, but not play, only freezes at the first frame, I can't do anything except restart Windows. I'm using Windows 10 Edu build 10586 and VLC for playing videos. I also tried another player such as Windows default, K-lite. But can't solved. Does anyone have this problem like me?

A:Windows 10 build 10586 Video Playback Issue

Hi @Maxxx58 , in most cases it would be an issue with the graphics driver software. Have you tried with your graphics control panel and reset to default and check? If this doesn't fix, make sure that you are not facing the same problem w.r.t browsers when you play videos. If the issue continues, try to reinstall the graphics driver and check. And even if this doesnt help I recommend you to perform a system restore to a good previous working environment. When you do restore, if you have installed any new applications and if that is not compatible with your system softwares, the software will be removed and there would be a fix right there.

Microsoft today released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 PCs and phones, bringing the build number to 10586.494.

KB3172985 is a bit of a mystery at the moment, as Microsoft hasn't published a changelog for either version. Typically, the PC release notes would be published to the Windows 10 Update History page, which isn't currently showing anything new.

The Mobile version is always a bit of a jumble, the release notes sometimes showing up in Microsoft's Answers forum and occasionally, in the Feedback Hub. Perhaps most interesting is that the changelog for phones is almost never available at the time that the update is offered.

The last cumulative update that we saw was 10586.454 in the Release Preview ring. No Release Preview update has ever made it to the Production ring, so the last public update was 10586.420.

With the new 10586 build something has changed where app suggestions remain in the Start Menu even after permanently removing the Windows store/Metro apps via DISM.

Besides taking the easy route and changing this setting in the Settings app (which, if used, will not persist after sysprep), are there any known registry hacks out there since such a setting doesn't exist in Group Policy as it should?

Hello All,

I am trying to update my son's CL10-B-103 with Windows 10.0 (build 10240) to Windows 10 build 10586 but it won't work until now. Please, I need some help.

I am using a Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 32 GB USB Stick because the storage space of the built in 32GB HD is not enough. The download went successful, also the preparation. But after al long waiting, at about 8% total, the CL10-B-103 reboots after which the message "place the external storage and press OK" appears (https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread....ght=cl10-b-103). I was able to press OK, but then the system is recovering to the old Windows 10 version (build 10240).

And this after several times the same.....

At this moment I am not able to update the laptop the latest Windows 10. Please, am I doing something wrong? What is this?

Many, many thanks in advance!!!

Fails to Upgrade to Windows 10 v.1511, 10586

Firstly, I have bought a Laptop which including Windows 10 OEM from factory then I add SSD and Clone HHD which have a licence (all of disk to SSD). After that, I have been trying to up version to be 10586, during updating version in update sitting were normally and done by no any problem then it needed to restart and I did it. After windows has restarted show message as the figure The version in my laptop still shows the old version, so I tried to solved the problem by reading this Fails to Upgrade to Windows 10 v.1511, 10586 (Nov.update)! that have a same problem. However, I could not fix this problem.

How can it fix it out. (Even my laptop has been remoted by Microsoft support for 2 hour that he tried to fix but he could not as well)

You need to check for updates. The cumulative patches increase the number after the 10586.nn - the media creation tool just gives you 10586.0.

I currently have Windows 10 (Build 10240). For some reason when I attempt to update my system it says that no updates are available. Does anyone know why I can't update to Build 10586?

The latest Windows Defender updates install, but not the latest build.

A:Update to Build 10586

Try do a manual in-place install :

Use this Tech Bench link and download the Windows 10 iso file:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...brrWLRbagYCa0w

scroll down to Select Edition > click the pointer at the right and select Windows 10 > click Confirm.
click the pointer and select Language > make sure you pick the same language the computer is now running > click Confirm
select the bit version, 32 or 64-bit. Make sure you select the same bit version as the computer is now running.
at the bottom, click the pointer next to Save > click Save As > navigate to a folder of your choice > click the chosen folder > click Save
The iso will start downloading to your chosen folder.
When it is done, go to that folder > open the folder > right click at the iso file > click Mount > click Setup.exe
Installation will begin.
It will allow you to keep you files, settings and apps.
No product key is required.
Activation will be automatic.

*** after you are done installing and Win 10 10586 is activated, you can burn the iso file to a bootable media such as DVD or USB. You can use that for future re-install. ***

Under my C drive, there is $Windows.~BT, and there is the Sources folder. But there is no install.esd inside the Sources folder.

I need it to create an ISO file and then burn it to a DVD.
This is not the first time I use install.esd to create an ISO. I did it since 10240.

I have a friends computer that required a USB update, I got that problem sorted out
But I noticed using winver that it shows Win 10 pro Ver 1511 OS Build 10586.545.
On My computer using winver my version is 1607 (OS Build 14393.105)

When I try to update my friends computer it reports that it is up to date, what is the solution

A:Win 10 pro Ver 1511 OS Build 10586.545

Hello, MS is phasing the release, so it's possible it's not been offered there yet.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...update-history

You could check against that if your friend indeed has all the updates for 1511.

Now, you may know the anniversary build is widely reported as causing some people significant issues. So before upgrading, take additional precautions -use disk imaging- create a full disk image e.g. with Macrium Reflect (Free) + its boot medium + external storage for the images.

If sthg goes wrong from the PC being unbootable to data loss, you can recover without tears or technical help.

How do you get 1607 to manually install it?
a. search the web and you'll find out how to manually download iso's and create bootable Win 10 1607 media.
Or
b. Go here: (Tutorial section - have a look- lots of good things)
Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums

and this will help you.

Having a Win 10 bootable medium is advisable as it gives you some recovery options should your PC become unbootable.

I tried updating normally using Windows Update. It fails in less than 10 seconds.
I tried using Media Creation Tool. It downloads the update, but at the end it fails again and tell me restart my PC and try again.
I tried deleting the files at C:/Windows/SoftawareDistribution/Download and then going back to Windows Update. It didin't work.
I'm desperate to update because this Build is crashing and freezing in almost any game that I play or application that I use. I'm only able to use Chrome and Office properly. Everything else usually freezes and crash.
Any ideas of whatelse I could try ?

A:Unable to update to Build 10586

I'd use the Media Creation tool to download the .ISO, or get the ISO directly from Tech Bench .

Not guaranteed to help, but it may save you from repeatedly downloading multiple gigabytes of installer.

Your existing Windows 10 installation will allow you to mount the .ISO, and you can then run the update directly from that.

10586 is more of an upgrade than an update. If memory serves, it generates the windows.old folder. I recommend imaging the current Win 10 installation before updating.

It's not happy with something it's running into, obviously. Are you trying to go from 10240 to 10586? Don't know what you currently are on. You could spend hours/days fighting the "Upgrade" path, when a clean install will start you fresh. Probably spend less time reinstalling your apps and transferring your data back. Backup first to something external and disconnect it when doing the clean install.

And we are not alone, i found several posts around the net about ppl complaining about several issues they found after SYSPREPing Windows 10 Threshold 2 (build 10586), and it does not matter if you're using Enterprise or Professional.

And if i may say this another nasty issue about the latest Windows version!!!

And there's no solution yet!

2) Install Windows 10 (10586) on a test PC from USB drive
3) At OOBE, CTRL-SHIFT-F3 to get into Audit Mode
4) Once in Audi Mode, sysprep the machine using a basic answer file

Rebooting the machine after sysprep, and setting up a new user works fine. However, once at the desktop, if I launch Internet Explorer, websites hang all over the place, with flash elements not loading (example site: finance.google.com - click either the DOW or S&P 500 to bring up a chart - the chart never loads - and the page goes into recovery mode).

This kills my image - as I need IE11 for older sites - Edge works fine in this image.

If I create my image from Windows 10 RTM (10240), the problem isn't there - however I now have to upgrade the PC to 10586 each time I install on a new PC - which can take an hour or more depending on the internet speed and speed of the PC. Very inefficient.

The 1511 build installed yesterday and since then I have been having trouble booting up computer in AM. It gets stuck with an arrow on a black screen. I have to turn off PC and turn back on for it to boot up into windows. Even then, it takes forvever.

I want to revert back to the previous Windows 10 build 10240. (I think that was the build number). Do I just use recovery to 'go back to an earlier build' ? Is there anything else I need to do first?
I understand that after the recovery I have to run the tool that hides updates for Windows 10. Do I have that right?
If all else fails, I did a full system back up just a few days before the update to the new Build happened.

A:Need to revert from Build 1511 (10586.36) to 10240

It's not the November 11th Threshold 2 update or otherwise referred to the 10586.93 version 1511 build pushed by way of the Windows updates but a flimsy upgrade to the newer build as the actual problem! When seeing the 10565 and 10576 builds each upgraded to the 10586 not one problem was seen while the distance between the 10240 and 10586 being greater as well as the 10240 not being so good as an upgrade build to start with you are much better simply going for the 10586's clean install.

That can be done by first downloading the updated Media Creation tool if you have an 8gb usb flash drive available as a 4gb will be too small since the TH2 release is actually a roll up of both the Home and Pro editions as well as seeing both the 32bit and 64bit options! Since 10 is already on and had been activated the clean install will not only see the 10586.39 go on fresh for the actual best end results but upgrade the build you are running as well.

As for the existing recovery options found in the F8 menu's Advanced recovery options the Reset option will likely see the 10240 build restored as long as nothing on the drive has changed since the TH2 upgrade took place like running the DiskCleanup tool or removing the Windows.old if created.

You might have to boot live from 10 media to get there however if you are unable to get into the F8 boot options directly! And that would bring you right back to the need to download 10 directly either by the MC Tool or going to the Tech Bench site for the Home dual 32/64bit iso download from there. You might want to consider going that route to begin with and save yourself extra efforts at a later time! First read over the guide for that. Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums

Can somebody tell me if there any SUBSTANTIAL fixes/improvements between build 10525 and build 10586. The fact that have only been 60 builds in the last few months makes me think there might be none.

I have a Chuwi Hi8 tablet. Yesterday I upgraded the preinstalled Windows 10 RTM to the latest build 10586.104 and got the well-known Wi-Fi Not Available problem. I tried the recipes from this article and what I found in other Internet resources, but nothing helped. Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

P.S. When I open the Device Manager, I see no problems with the installed hardware. Windows reports that all drivers are installed and work correctly. The same concerns the Broadcom 802.11n Wireless SDIO Adapter.

P.P.S. The website of the device (http://en.chuwi.com/product/items/Chuwi-Hi8-pro.html) does not help a lot. They do not provide a driver package I can use to reinstall the drivers. I even can't register on their forum to request the driver pack.

A:Wi-Fi not available problem on tablet after upgrade to W10 build 10586

I've solved this puzzle. When I was searching for a solution a couple of days ago, I saw that reinstalling the Wi-Fi adapter driver helped some people to solve this problem. I had a custom pack of the Chuwi tablet drivers (I had found them earlier on their support forum here: Driver download HI8 PRO - General - Chuwi Forum - Forum.chuwi.com). However, reinstalling the driver did not help me two days ago.

Today I analyzed the installation .inf file for the Wi-FI driver and saw that it should create special registry keys with driver settings, etc. I supposed that the required registry keys were not created when I reinstalled the driver the previous time and I decided to reinstall the driver again - but now checking the option "Delete the driver software for this device" in the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog.

And it helped!! The Wi-Fi driver started to work immediately after doing this.

What anti-virus program do you use. Disable it or uninstall it then try the upgrade again.
Ditto if you use a 3rd party firewall like Comodo. Disable for the upgrade.

I recently received the 10586 update from Microsoft and installed it. Since this was a major update, I'm wondering if I'm better off performing a clean install to reduce possibility of any issues and clutter.

I have a Dell Lattitude E7440 that I performed a clean initial install of Win 10 on. I then cloned the hard drive and copied it to a new SSD.

Thanks,

Rick

A:Clean Install Win 10 build 10586 or update sufficient?

I do not believe this will cause clutter as when you originally upgraded to Windows 10. As far as issues hard to say, some do and some do not. If did this clean install need ISO of this build or if a reset will work as good. I like idea of clean install and have done this myself with ISO of 10586 without doing it through Windows update. Up to you if have any issues then do this, for now you should be o.k.

Hi,
This morning prior to going to church I received a notification that a major Update for my Windows 10 Home (x64-bit)was ready to download and install so I went ahead and installed (Build 10586).

Everything seemed to go smoothly. However, I just realized I lost half of my Favorites. I have all my original Favorites from 'A' to 'M' but all the ones from 'N' to 'Z' are gone.

Any ideas?

Thanks and regards,

This week's Windows Update has made almost 10586.122 slowed with Build programs several launch Severely of everything on my PC launch much more slowly MS Office and various other programs take up to seconds to open where they used to take barely Notepad -- arguably the simplest program in Windows -- takes at least seconds to appear Even just opening ordinary JPGs takes seconds vs lt second last Severely slowed launch of several programs with Build 10586.122 week And batch files of or so lines doing simple stuff like SUBSTing drives or copying a dozen non-huge files that used to finish in a flash now take several seconds per line I'm assuming the root cause is Severely slowed launch of several programs with Build 10586.122 Windows and not a security program or other culprit because if I restore the system to March build everything is fast again Of course then Windows notices this and forces a re-update within a day or so and the PC is like a drunk uncle again The only launch action that doesn't seem affected is opening a folder from a shortcut that happens instantly -- although if this is a clue a few shortcuts to c windows explorer exe folderpath take much longer I can't explain why I had those in the first place but the launch-time difference between them and a simpler shortcut to the same folder was startling I should stress that except for batch files most programs run fine once they're open And I haven't tweaked my AV to do anything different at program launches My job requires lots of quick access to lots of programs and files so I can't work like this Why is this happening and how can I stop it This is Windows Pro bit with GB RAM on a -year-old Dell desktop with gobs of free hard drive space I upgraded from Win in November and while it wasn't a pristine wipe-and-install it's performed quite well until just now Sincerely grateful for any clues Mark

This question I'm sure has been addressed many times, yes? I just made a purchase of a Dell Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1. The system is a pearl accept for the font display in the legacy applications and OS widgets. The only solution seems to be to adjust the font scaling and set the DPI value to 125%. This makes everything smaller, yuck! My question, has anyone seen the same on any build 10586 system and then see the problem go away by installing the August update build 14393? Because that is the only software related change I haven't tried. Updating Intel display drivers had no effect.

Hello, this is my first post on this forum so bear with me.
I placed this in general discussion and not gaming because the update 10586.164 seems to affect the general performance of the computer. I reverted back to build 10240 and the performance is better than ever. I've looked this up on various websites and forums but to no avail. One person recommended uninstalling the Xbox app but that didn't help. The Paging file is set to the recommended amount so that's not the issue either. All games become unplayable with one exception. The frames drop to about 1-3 from the normal 60. I have no idea what could be causing this. It is strange that the performance increases with earlier builds because you would figure Microsoft would increase performance for "older" laptops with more updates, not destroy it.

Run powershell as administrator (important as it requires elevation) and paste this command:
Get-AppxPackage *windowscommunicationsapps* | Remove-AppxPackage
This will remove Mail and calendar and preserve account settings.
Open Store (if it was already open you must close it before)
On the search bar type "Mail and Calendar"
It should be the first App found.
Click on Free to start download.
Wait until it finishes and re-open Mail and Calendar, you will see your previous accounts already listed.

Microsoft has released a new update for Windows 10, its third this year, following the rollout of build 10586.63 in mid-January, and 10586.71 a couple of weeks later.

This latest release for Windows 10 PCs not enrolled in the Insider Program bumps the build up to 10586.104. As the incremental increase in build number suggests, this is a cumulative update to previous releases from the Threshold (TH2) development branch; newer builds from the Redstone branch are currently available only to those on the Windows Insider Program.

With today's release, Microsoft has finally reversed its decision to avoid providing detailed changelogs for these relatively minor cumulative updates. The company has launched a new 'Windows 10 Update History' site, giving a clear breakdown of what each such update includes.

When in "SAFE MODE", "CHOOSE AN OPTION" screen, "CHOOSE YOUR KEYBOARD" does NOT work in any sub menu option when selected.
You get a blue screen inviting you to select a language, with a "more options" line at the bottom of the screen.
No key presses work using either a USB keyboard and USB mouse or a PS2 keyboard and USB mouse.
Only way out is to SWITCH OFF, or to press the RESET button on the PC case.
All operations work if selected from within Windows 10 environment.
Looks like another bug with missing drivers or necessary files in SAFE MODE.

I am trying to perform the November update (1511) on this computer. (starting from the previous Windows 10 version)
Since I have another problem where it doesn't appear in Windows Update (despite fulfilling many requirements to make it appear), I am limited to perform the upgrade with the Media Creation Tool (which has re-implemented build 10586, 1511 into it after been pulled out)

However, the upgrade process failed when reaching 76%. After system restore and reboot, the following pop-up appeared:

Any ideas why this is happening? I upgraded this computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 back in august, without any issue. Only now it did not find the November update through Windows Update and when using the Media Creation Tool it fails.

I have Win Pro bit on a Dell Vostro with Intel Core i nbsp GB RAM and Crucial TB SSD All Dell diagnostics pass Windows fully updated About weeks ago April the Windows Update for Version finally arrived and it is now at Build A few days or before that IE and Edge started to misbehave It s possible that some final pre-upgrade-to- upgrade did this - it is equally possible just a co-incidence The symptoms are that IE will open up but /scannow Build from reports issue 3460 on 1511 sfc with ver Pro 10586 Vostro NVidia Win opencl.dll 10 the address bar does not get populated and after a few seconds it just disappears again Edge does similar When this happens I sometimes try Firefox but that takes a long time to start - at least it starts Chrome usually starts within a short time There is no sure way to get IE and Edge back again Rebooting sometimes does it Usuallly I have to use Turn sfc /scannow reports opencl.dll issue from NVidia on Vostro 3460 with Win 10 Pro ver 1511 Build 10586 Windows Features on and off to turn IE off then on again which given a restart is needed both times is timeconsuming I have tried clearing caches Inetcpl cpl in place repair of Windows and sfc scannow scannow blames a corrupt opencl dll according to http answers microsoft com en-us windows forum windows -windows install sfc-scannow-report-opencldll-bad b - b b- fa -a - c e d b page which - if sfc /scannow reports opencl.dll issue from NVidia on Vostro 3460 with Win 10 Pro ver 1511 Build 10586 that thread is to be believed is something to do with Windows not treating the NVidia driver correctly or vice versa Has anyone else had this open stall close for both IE and Edge and what did they do to resolve It s making this OS and PC unusable One set of advice from MS forums is to DISM but the installed is later than the downloadable ISO of so that doesn t work Another piece of advice from MS is to use the latest Insider build of - but I would prefer to stick with releases as approved by Dell I think this is an issue which Dell needs to sort out with NVidia so can I ask for that please Thanks Any other ideas

You can save the bandwidth and let only one of your computers to download the upgrade through Windows Update, then make your own ISO and upgrade the other computers with it.

I've been stuck on build 11102.rs1_release.160113-1800.
Going to Settings. Update & Security, Check for updates says "your device is up to date".
Checked for updates at least 10 times and always get the same response "Your device is up to date".

I don't want to download an ISO and clean install - I'd like to get the insider updates through
the standard update process.

Any suggestion or solutions?

Thanks

A:build 11102 will not download latest build 14271

Try this - worked for me in a similar situation.

I deleted all folders in the software distribution folder, selected to leave Insider Program from updates menu, rebooted, rejoined Program and then it found the updates. Try just deleting folders first and checking for updates. That works for some but did not for me (it was the leaving and rejoining that seemed to do the trick).

If you try rejoining and leaving, make an image backup of 11102 first, just in case leaving and rejoining should cause it not to activate (especially if you never started from a valid 7/8 licence). Good idea to make the backup anyway in case the upgrade fails (you would then have to go back to 10586 and start afresh)

Hi

From the activation of Windows 10, how many hours must elapse before Windows downloads its latest build?

It is possible to speed up this time so as to almost immediately download the latest build?

Thanks

I believe it's a first come first serve basis via a queue. Therefore, there is no way to speed it up.

Hi Roomies,
I just upgrade a friends laptop to win 10 home 64bit and I'm getting this error 0x8024002e and not able to update to the latest version 10586.36 any help will be appreciated. Is there a way I could try to get the latest version and burn it and try to install it from there?
Thanks.

A:1511V 10586 update with error 0x8024002e

there seems to be a problem with that update. i had an un-activated windows 10 when i updated it. suddenly i couldn't activate it because it said it was upgraded from an non activated windows version. between that and the fact that the update took as long as a brand new installation of windows i figure the update is majorly bugged and installed over windows instead of patching it.

this really makes me question me updating when i reinstall windows. do you have to update to the latest version of windows? i can't stand the stock version that my computer came with. it's extremely unstable. driver issues, BSOD twice in less than 24 hours, drive playing issues that are probably driver related.

I have six machines that v1511 W10 files? Corrupt I've upgraded fresh installed W Seems like somewhere along the W upgrade obstacle course of the systems say that the window files are corrupt and quot SFC SCANNOW quot cannot correct the problem W10 v1511 Corrupt files? s I haven't checked the sixth system I then run quot DISM Online Cleanup-Image RestoreHealth Source wim K Sources install wim limitaccess quot using the W V ISO that I downloaded from Tech Bench Reboot and Run quot SFC SCANNOW quot again This time it says it was able to fix the system files In each case the reason I ran quot SFC SCANNOW quot was because the system was doing crazy stuff like rebooting out of sleep or refusing to shutdown or losing the mouse pointer or not being detected by Discovery etc etc In each case fixing the system files executing the above solved the strange behavior - at least for now Is it me or does the frequent W upgrades and fixes leave problems behind I can't believe that I have five different systems with different hardware and each one W10 v1511 Corrupt files? gets corrupted system files I used Windows on many different systems over the years and never experienced this stuff

A:W10 v1511 Corrupt files?

[QUOTE=Ken429;525002]I have six machines that I've upgraded/fresh installed W10. Seems like somewhere along the W10 upgrade obstacle course 5 of the 6 systems say that the window files are corrupt and "SFC /SCANNOW" cannot correct the problem(s). I haven't checked the sixth system!

I then run "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:K:\Sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess"
using the W10 V1511 ISO that I downloaded from Tech Bench, Reboot and Run "SFC /SCANNOW" again This time it says it was able to fix the system files.

In each case the reason I ran "SFC /SCANNOW" was because the system was doing crazy stuff like rebooting out of sleep or refusing to shutdown or losing the mouse pointer or not being detected by Discovery etc., etc. In each case fixing the system files executing the above solved the strange behavior - at least for now!

Hi gbp007,

Try to End Process the extra wlmail.exe file in the Task Manager Processes to see if it will stop the error for you next time.

Task Manager - Open and Close Applications and Processes

Hi,

I have Windows 10 Pro v1511 (Nov upgrade). If you go to Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Audit Policy and set a policy, it doesn't stick. If you close and reopen the app again, the previous settings are still there. Is anybody experiencing this ? Please confirm or deny that this is happening on your rig.

Also when Local Security Policy starts, there is an error message about some admx configuration file. Also new to v1511.
