I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

That error is not caused by a virus, it is caused by a file corruption

A:Error 800B0100-Important update categorised as not applicable to PC

Windows Vista(tm) is Windows6.0
Windows 7(tm) is Windows6.1
Windows 8(tm) is Windows6.2
Windows 8.1(tm) is Windows6.?

The version numbers, rather than the trade name reveal which version of the Source Code forms the base for the OS.
This was fine up to Vista, because they weren't similar... and then MS went silly and started TM'ing apparent version numbers

It does get confusing - and I really can't offhand remember what the version number for Windows 8.1 is!

....back to your problem.

It's likely caused by corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder.

There are two ways to attempt to deal with it - the clever way, and the quick way.

One preserves most/all your Windows Update history, while the other trashes it (but updates are still installed) - neither are guaranteed to work.

Your choice - how much of a tearing hurry are you in to get back to what passes for normality?

Let me know and we'll work on it

I'm getting the error code 800B0100 while updating Windows 7 x86.
I tried everything suggested on the net and nothing helped. In some of the threads here someone helped with a zip file with files for SURT, which I think I'll need too.

I'm attaching the CBS log files. Please, it would really help if you could also explain which files you included in the package, where you found them and why you included them. I just want to understand..

Thanks in advance.

You neglected to mention that this system is running Vista SP2, rather than Windows 7!

In this case, it doesn't matter too much as all the files involved are the same.

I've uploaded a file - tzyaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder tzyaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Hi all ,

I've read through this and other forums as well as google search to help me with this error code. I've unsuccessfully installed SP1 for many months and have tried a registry cleaner, downloading the update manually and trying the update from disc. I have yet to successfully upgrade to SP1. I noticed that there are certain logs to look through, but I'm not sure if I'm attaching the correct log. I apologize in advance for being noob!

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64x. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello, and welcome to the Seven Forums!

Firstly, a big well done, and thank you. You have run all the correct programs, and have attached exactly the correct log.

I shall get the fix to you as soon as possible. This may be later this evening, or tomorrow evening.

Please do not follow any other advice until then, and I shall be back as soon as possible.

Have a great day, and thanks a lot!

My problem is over a two months old. Ill keep getting that error code whenever I try to install update Security Update Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5.1 on Win7 SP1 or KB2937610. I tried almost everything I knew. Use SURT,tried a manually install update, reinitialize downloads folders, use some commands on cmd to re-register dll file according to some internet instructions. SFC scann show no problems in cmd.In attacment I will put cbs file and, just to be sure, dism.log file.So can anyone help with these errors!!!
Thanks for any help

FYI if anyone else encounters this problem, try the following:

1. Turn off Windows Updates and disable the 'Windows Update' service.

2. Delete everything under the following folders;

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore

3. Download this Microsoft fixit from their site. Launch and select the
Aggressive option.

4. When prompted, restart Windows.

5. Enable Windows Updates and it should successfully download and install the failed updates.

Note: Prior to this, I had tried the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [May 2013], but it didn't work.

As an alternative, you could perhaps skip Step 3, restart after Step 2 and proceed with Step 4.

Some may have other solutions that have helped them, it'll be good to read to assist others.

Hope this helps.

Every time I try to check for updates I get this error code seconds after checking for updates. It is a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1. The error code in the bottom left is always '800b0100'. SFC came back with no errors. I will attach the SURT log, it has 8 errors in it, but I do not quite understand what they mean.

Suddenly yesterday Windows update starting returning an error each time I tried to install updates. The updates are being downloaded ok but when I select install I get the following:

Code 800B0100 Windows update encountered an unknown error

I have researched this but the information I found related to "compatability check" software which I guess relates to earlier Windows versions and compatability with Windows 7.

I have also tried the download/install with security switched off, this made no difference either.

Has anyone got an idea where I should go from here?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Try the following one by one, checking after each.

1) Disable your firewall.

2) Navigate to the folder C:\windows\softwaredistribution and rename it to something like softdis.old.

3) Download the installer manually from windows download center to your hdd. Then restart in safe mode and install the update by double clicking on the saved file. Restart.

4) Windows Update - Reset

5) Try the MS Fixit.

How do I reset Windows Update components?

Hello. I've been constantly trying to update my computer. I previously got both error code 800b0100 and error code 80073712. After downloading and running CHECKSUR, the 80073712 code went away, and now i only receive 800b0100. I've run CHECKSUR many times with no fix. I've attached my CBS folder, which includes all my SFC log and the CHECKSUR logs. The other files, which include several zipped "CBS persist" folders, were too big to upload. I can attach more as needed. Any and all help is much appreciated. This has been a nightmare.

I'm not sure exactly when my Windows update stopped working, but the last update to install was Windows Defender KB915597 on 7/29/2014. I ran CheckSUR and attached is my log file. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Above is the error I get when checking for updates. I had to exclude older CbsPersist cab files because at best compression in a rar file, it was running in at 9.88mb so only the latest CbsPersist cab is in the zip.

A:Windows won't update to SP1, error Code 800B0100

Hello cookie,

First, restart the computer. Next, check updates and make sure all other important updates are installed first. Make sure you have installed all current drivers for your computer. Check devices and printers and device manager for any exclaimation points that you can right click and then select update.

Read Airbot's tutorial links on how you might try fixing it: http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-u...ful-links.html

Failing all of that, click in windows updates (the pic you just showed) where it says "get help with this error" and see if it leads you to anything informative. Post back how it goes.

I need help. I just installed Windows 7 Professional on my old PC. It is a clean install. After successfully installed this OS, the major problem that I had encountered is that I cant install updates on my PC. My PC has never been updated because of this problem. Once I click Check updates, a message shows that there is an error occurred while checking updates for my computer. It cant check for updates and the error code is 800B0100. I already followed the steps written on this site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956702 . I already Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and run the System Update Readiness Tool. but the problem is still there. My PC cant still check for new updates. I hope somebody here can help me. thank you

Hello, I have been unable to download/install any updates for Windows 7 (gives Error Code 800B0100) via Windows update and had to install them through the web manually. I have installed the System Update Readiness Tool but it does not seem to solve the problem. Currently, I have KB982670, KB982664, and KB979099 waiting to be downloaded. (and to test whether the problem is solved)

Can someone kindly assist me to solve this problem?

Thank you,

Dave

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.

You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -

then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Copy the CBS.log file created to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it as an attachment to your reply

Please also download a new copy of the CheckSUR tool (a new version was released at the end of last week), run that, and upload the CheckSUR.log and CheckSUR.persist.log files

A:Windows 7 can not update: Error code 800B0100

Try running system file checker,

type CMD in the start menu search, right click the result and run as administrator

Type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes.

Follow the instructions until it has finished.

Restart.

Try windows update manually, do not install all the updates at once, try doing a few at a time, wait until you have all the recommended updates before starting any optional ones.

You have a rather large number of errors in the CheckSUR scan.
At least one leads me to think that you may have a hardware problem.

While I try and get a fix protocol together, please check out your RAM using Memtest86++ - RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Hello SevenForums, the last couple of weeks I have had problems installing 2 Security Updates, published 10-2-2015. They are the following:
- Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3004375)
- Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3031432)

I have tried to install them several times since they was released, but every time I get the same Error Code: 800B0100.

I have followed the steps from your "Windows Update Posting Instructions", and I have attached the logs to the thread as well.

Hi,

for around about one month, I have some problems using the Windows Update. I always get the error massages 800B0100, 80073712 and sometimes one or two more - fortunately (or unfortunately) not this time.

I already did the steps from the windows update posting instruction threat. The SURT I already used before without success, the SFC Scan showed "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".

I hope I did everything correctly, but I'm not sure about that because my CBS.log is almost 50MB. So I couldn't attach the file but set a dropbox link for it. Hope it's ok:

Thanks a lot for the help.

A:Windows Update Error Code 800B0100 and 8007065E

I think we've been lucky - all the affected files are culture-neutral, so far as I can see, apart from the IE10 files, which so far as I know are currently unfixable, as they are due to a bug that MS is currently trying to deal with.

I'll post back with a fix for the rest, later.

I've attempted to perform two Security updates and they both keep failing. I have noticed the same error multiple times which is the 800B0100. The second code listed in the title is new. I have ran the Microsoft Fix It, Systems Updates Readiness Tool, and others. Error still remains.

I am also unable to attach the CBS file. An error message appears after the upload hits 99%.

Hello,

I try to install the Sp1 and AktiveX but everything I tried didn't work. Always when I click the update button
it take a few seconds and then error 800B0100 and 80073712.

I have already run the Readiness tool several times and also som M FixIt thing I found at the msoft site.
I tried to install Sp1 manual but it failed.
I have run the sfc /scannow and the CBS.zip file is attached.

I tried everything so I hope you can help me.

I am getting Windows update error code: 800B0100 on KB2654428

I have tried the Microsoft fixit, resetting the windows update and now hope you guys can help me.

I have attached the log files. Hopefully everything is in there you need.

If not please let me know what to do to get you what is required.

The PC is a Dell box with Win7 Pro 32 Bit SP1, if that helps.

Thanks,

Rich

A:Windows update error code: 800B0100 on KB2654428

There are no problems in either the SFC log, or the CheckSUR log.
I suspect that this means that there is corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder
Is KB2654428 the only update that's failing?

If so, using Windows Explorer, navigate to the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder
do a Search there for files containing 'KB2654428' and see what comes up - delete all found.
Close Windows Explorer

Now open Windows Update - do a Check for Updates, and see what comes up.
UNselect all updates, then select ONLY the oldest update (hopefully KB2654428 - if not make a note which), and attempt to install that.
What happens? what error code do you get?

Installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit a day ago and I managed to install every update except for the "Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2929961)".

When Windows Update is ran, I get the message "Code 800B0100 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."

I have tried the Microsoft Fix It and Troubleshooting program, manually downloading and installing the individual update from the Windows Download Center, and disabling my firewall but all to no avail.

I followed the steps posted by NoelDP in this thread:
Windows Update Error Code 800B0100

The CheckSUR.log and CheckSUR.persist.log files from the System Update Readiness Tool have been attached.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Due to problems with interrupted updates and my graphics driver I had to re-install Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (dating from 2010).
Unfortunately, Windows can not perform updates anymore: it immediately issues an error code 800B0100.
After running several tools from Microsoft the problem still exists.
So now I turn to the real experts and hope you guys can help me.
I have run the tooling suggested on your forum and attached the CBS files.
Now I hope you can help me.

Thanks in advance,
Hans

I just recently installed windows on my home computer so of course there were something like updates to install I initially allowed windows update to automatically download the important updates which it selected all but one Then once it installing KB3020370 update when Error code 800B0100 finished downloading I installed by clicking the shutdown button that was saying quot install updates and then shutdown your computer about hours later it was up to update of when I got home from work hours later it was still on update of A colleague at work from the windows support team told me that if I rebooted windows would just clean up and to then retry the install doing no more than - at a time so I did this and then once windows had cleaned itself up I proceeded to install the updates in groups of about but I found that if I tried to install more than of the net updates at a time they would fail so I dropped back to one net update followed by - others In this way I was able to install nearly ALL the updates with the exception of KB It always fails to install now with B I went googling for the error and found this forum Hoping you can assist CBS file was too big so I've uploaded it to my dropbox here https www dropbox com s etpltn ci ijk CBS zip dl Regards John

Hi

I'm using Win 7 x64
I've got a problem with KB2937610 for over a month.
I've tried to install it manually, use MSFixit and install it from clean boot. Neither worked.
Recently I found this forum, so here I am to ask for help.
(I'm sorry if I made any grammar mistakes, my English isn't prefect).

Hi

I'm having issues updating Kernel-mode driver 1.11 KB2685811 - I've used your forums previously to help solve issues via running sfc /scannow, SURT etc but I cannot find any solution to this issue. I would very much appreciate your help in fixing this problem.

Details below:

Hi,

I'm using Win 7 x64 and I've got a problem with KB2937610 and KB2972211 for a long time now.
Neither of them installs. Errorcode returned is 800B0100.
I tried a bit everything I normally do like installing the update directly from the knowledgebase but nothing seems to bite.
It looks like you have been succesful solving this for others so I hope you can help me.

Attached the CBS log folder. I had to remove some .cab files or it would have been to large but all log files are there.
Attachment 340490

I also run SFC /SCANNOW but that came up clean (no integrity violations).

Thank you in advance for your help

At first glance, this looked as if it was a candidate for a repair install - but it may not be that bad.
I think most of the file problems are related to a single update, so I'll try and post a fix some time tomorrow.

Hi Michael:

Did you try to install the update again manually?
There are some errors that are simply a matter of bad timing, and they can be caused by busy websites and slow Internet connections, or a number of other factors. Sometimes you can fix these problems by trying to install the updates again.
1. Open Windows Update by swiping in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), tapping or clicking Settings, tapping or clicking Change PC settings, and then tapping or clicking Update and recovery.
2. Tap or click Check now, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your PC.
3. If updates are found, tap or click Install updates.

Hi there,

I have a lop top with Windows 7 64 bit OS. Of lately, Windows update keeps failing to install some software updates. Here are the details of the s/w that would not install.

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732500)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2729094)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732487)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2647753)
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2722913)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2705219)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2731847)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2712808)

Every time I login, the windows update poops up and asks me to restart the computer. After trying to restart, it fails. Next time, it does the same thing again.
Please let me know the solution.

A:Windows Update fails everytime. Error details: Code 80242014

Install them one by one and restart every time? It's a bit tedious but it should work.

Hello

My vista home premium 64, service pack 1, cannot be updated. I tried to do all the advices that I was able to find in the differents forums and in the Microsoft Knowledge Database.

I uninstalled my antivirus and firewall security software, rebooted my systems, no success...I deleted the content of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download, rebooted my systems, nothing...I donwloaded, installed and run the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista 64-bit. It ended ok, but still I couldn't update my systemI donwloaded Vista Service Pack 2, and I tried to install it directly from it, no sucess...I found this solution in the forums:
net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc It didn't work
I tried to do also this, opening a command line window as administrator:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll /salso this
sfc /scannow no errors, doesn't work

Please, can you help me?

Best regards

A:Vista Update not working. Error 800B0100

Hi jlauriale, welcome to the forums.

I've seen 1 solution somwhere that might help, it did with me once. Windows Update connects using IEs settings, you could try to 'reset' Internet Explorer in the advanced settings tab. This will completely reset IE, including any addons you may have installed.

   Note
You will need to reinstall any addons you had, but try 1 at a time just in case it was 1 of them causing the issue
Hope this helps

Jeff

Hello,
I am receiving the titled errors during windows update, I checked at windows support and tried every answer given there with no success.
in addition, i think that this might be the cause that BattleField 3 crashes all the time.

A:Windows Update errors Code 800B0100 and Code 8007065E, tried everythin

First, check that teh file system and disk are OK
type in the Search box
CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot. The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on the Start button
type in the Search box
CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
At the Command prompt, type

SFC /SCANNOW

and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

You will have seen that the SFC command leaves a log - please upload the CBS.log and attach it to your response (You will probably have to copy it to the dektop first)

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

A:Cannot Update, Code 800B0100

Hey, I am not knowledgeable in troubleshooting your problem, just wanted to say:

- You can upload the file to a cloud service like MS OneDrive or Dropbox. Post a link to the file when you do, so experts can look at it. Compressing may also help.

I don't know if there is a way to delete that file and whether rerunning the tool would result in a smaller file though. So wait for another person to comment if you so wish.

Hello. Been having this update issue and already run SURT, Fixit, and SVC to no avail. Even spent some time on a live chat with a microsoft tech to help me out but his tools couldn't help much. So, I've come here to hope for a miracle.

Here are my log files. The attachment manager isn't working at time of posting so I will attempt to upload the full CBS .zip later.

Hi All:

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit running on a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop.

On this laptop I currently have 279 updates installed for Windows 7 and MS Office.

Now when I try to run Windows Update to get Service Pack 1 I receive the Windows update failure: Code 800B0100.

Having read your forum I have seen you send missing files to users.

According to my CheckSUR, the file that I am missing is:

Checking Packages
(f) CBS MUM Missing 0x00000002 servicing\Packages
_]\Package_110_for_KB2633952~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.mum

I have been unable to download this file from anywhere on the web.

If you could please send me this file, or post it for me to download that would be wonderful.

I have been unable to download this file from anywhere on the web.

Thanks, Phil

Hi, Windows update doesn't function and i haven't even installed SP1.
I have tried manual install for SP1, the system update readiness tool, the sfc /scannow and every recommended program from this forum that doesn't need SP1. I had deactivate my antivirus but the problem continued.
This is the log folder named CBS.
Please give me a specific individual solution , as none of the general solutions found in this forum is going to solve the problem, i had tried many times for months but now that i need to install a program that requires SP1 i have to put an end to this...

A:Win 7x64 update problem code 800B0100

Hello and welcome Christo mate your post begs the question why haven't you got SP1?? It comes with retail and OEM versions as a normal unless you have a very old installation media disk or ISO.
Now until you get that on board then unless I am terribly mistaken the updates will not flow on.

I suggest you read though this very carefully and get SP1 as soon as

Hi.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit).

I've been having this issue for some time now. Don't know the cause of this issue. I hope someone can help me out. I've tried downloading the update manually and installing it with no success -it does not give an error code though, just a text saying that it could not install the update.

I've downloaded SURT and ran it first, then I've run "sfc /verifyonly" in run/cmd. Attached are the results of that procedure (CBS 1.zip for SURT, CBS 2.zip for "sfc /verifyonly" method). & C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file. I've also added the only CbsPersist*.cab file I could add due to it's size to CBS 2.zip.

Thanks in advance!

Windows 7 Pro. i7 4790. MSI Gaming 7 board. Corsair SSD for booting Win7. Tried update. Tried SURT. Ran SFC scan with no errors. Crazy frustrated. Wondering if it has to do with the new fandangled msi boot stuff. Even went as far as to DL AVG tune up to see about repairing reg keys, that didn't seem to work either. Downloaded the latest MSI bios file, updated, still no go. Tried several windows "fix it" those didn't work either. Tried manually downloading and running the updated, that just said "failed" after running. I'm officially stuck. Please help.

Had to use recovery disks for laptop that crashed. Was able to reinstall all software, files, folders and updates except for the two Security Updates for Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5.1(KB2943357) and (KB2973112). The error code I'm getting is 800B0100. Have already tried troubleshooting, doing a clean reboot, running the scannow command, downloaded the system readiness tool and just about everything else I've read about. I'm sure this is much easier than I'm making it, but I'm at a loss. Was wondering if anyone could possibly help?

I've tried to attach part of the CBS log (but having difficulty because even zippped it's very lengthy) and SUR. It appears to me that there were originally 12 errors, now down to 2 (if I'm reading this correctly).

Anyway, would certainly appreciate any help that could help me resolve this mess!

I followed the instructions for collecting the CBS log file and will attach it in this post or my next.
Thank you once again for the help given on my last 800B0100 issue!
We are running Win7Pro 64-bit.

Any help on this issue will also be appreciated.
Thanks,

Greetings to everyone from Puerto Rico. Let me start off by explaining that I have had this problem for a week or 2 and I have searched everywhere on the internet and have followed all the advice I have read and still nothing, it has come to the point I registered here to see if someone could help me because I'm just frustrated and mad at this point.

I think this problem is common enough and I know a lot of users have gone through the same.

I have added the CheckSur.log and CheckSur.persist.log

Any and all help will be appreciated, thank you for your time.

A:Windows Service Pack 1 Update fail Code 800B0100

Hi and welcome to seven forums,

I don't know for sure as it was a long time ago for me but I think I had an issue installing service pack one and it was all down to windows defender.

I think I either disabled it while installing or uninstalled it and then reinstalled it after.

Might not work for you but worth a shot.

Anyone else having this error with Windows update and Vista? I tried it twice, and it failed both times. Other than people asking if someone else has seen this, a search turned up nothing.

I assumed that I would find an existing thread on this issue, because it is all over the internet (but without a solution that I can find), but I don't see a thread. If I have overlooked it, I apologize.
Windows Update prompts me to download/install Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Vista (Home Premium). It downloads succesfully, but once the installation begins, I receive the following error:

Code 800B0100 Windows Update encountered an unkown error.

Does anyone have an explaination of this error or know of a fix for it?
Thanks to all in advance for your assistance.

Ive had some trouble with Windows Vista, and recently I decided to use the laptop recovery discs to finish off the problem. The original problem had gone but a new problem had appeared.

I ran the Windows update twice to definately make sure there were no more updates left after I had reinstalled Windows. On the second attempt I had message saying there was some sort of error, I checked the 'view update history link' and found that one of the updates failed to install. The update in question is 'Update for Windows Vista (KB938371).

I double clicked this and found this problem had occurred - 'Error Code 80010108'
The windows website seems to have no info on this. Can anyone tell me how to fix the problem so that Windows can install the update and so that Windows update can run again? or guide me to somewhere which has the information needed?

Thank you in advance

The other day my Vista machine would NOT get to the update listing. I was getting a error similar to the one you got. Yesterday, it updated without any hiccups. I rack this up to be a Update Server error.
