How responsive is the Cyborg R.A.T. 9 wireless mouse compared to the wired version?

Q: How responsive is the Cyborg R.A.T. 9 wireless mouse compared to the wired version?

I'd like the wireless version of this mouse, but my experience with wireless mice is that they are not as responsive and accurate as a wired mouse. Is that still true and is it true for this mouse? That's if anyone has used both versions.

I'll just go for the wired mouse to be on the safe side probably.

Preferred Solution: How responsive is the Cyborg R.A.T. 9 wireless mouse compared to the wired version?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Wireless mice are just as or even more responsive now than wired mice are

Hello all,

I have newly loaded WIN 7 OS. Everything works but randomly, the wireless mouse & USB KB lockup & are non responsive. The only way to get them back is to do a hard power reset. I checked the Windows Event Viewer System Log & this error is showing up multiple times:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5800&MI_01\6&66de6c9&0&0001.

Did a Google search & the posts show this is referencing a media card driver. I tried disabling the media card reader but still having the issue. I also applied this from Microsoft:

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Wireless mouse & USB KB randomly lockup the machine; non-responsive

Welcome to the forum,

I don't get media card driver looking up those ID numbers, I find this,

Which leads to this info,

Do you have any in device manager?

I think that is related to the encryption feature on your Dell.

I have been on what seems to be an endless quest searching for a wireless mouse that can compete with my wired usb optical compaq mouse from about 7 years ago to no avail. Is there just no wireless mouse that is as responsive as wired? It seriously effects my gaming. I have gone through about 7 Logitech mouses and a gaming one with four adjustable dpis and my compac from 2001 beats them all. Please help me cut the cord. Here are some pics of the champion. Also preferably looking for something full size like the one I have pictured no mini mice.

I was just thinking this Ive been using wireless laptop mice for my laptop for months and sure its great not having suited for better a opposed mouse as wireless? wired a to Is laptop to drag the cord Is a wired mouse better suited for a laptop as opposed to wireless? around or it pulling your mouse down the desk But its alot more work than a simple laptop mouse with say a retractable pull out cord You Is a wired mouse better suited for a laptop as opposed to wireless? have to worry about the batteries for one and your mouse all of a sudden becomes parts - the mouse itself and the USB receiver Then you have to worry about interference and whether the mouse glides well enough on certain table tops when commuting with the laptop I just got a mini laptop mouse with a charger and it came with it and AAA NiMH batteries but im contemplating if its even worth the money and maybe just go back to the standard wired mouse For laptop a wired mouse Is a wired mouse better suited for a laptop as opposed to wireless? just untangle and plug in simple as that Wireless mouse you have to plug in the USB dongle turn the mouse on put mouse pad under neath etc nbsp

My desktop lost power the other day, and today I had to replace the power supply
Win XP
It powers up OK, but my wireless Logitec mouse / keyboard nor a different wired mouse and keyboard won't
work.
Some buttons on the key board access the internet, and I can delete something, but can't get to start button, nor move cursor with keyboard nor mouse.
Can't figure out how to remove driver if I can't get other keys to help.

Anyone know what I need to do would be appreciated.

For the first time in 2 years of use, my logitech mx3200 wireless keyboard is not functioning more than a couple of hours before I have to try and reset via my logitech driver program. It usually takes several attempts to reconnect so the keyboard works.

I have never had a usb receiver with this keyboard and have a wired logitech LX3 optical mouse which works fine.

I am using Windows XP Pro 2002 version and Mozilla browser. My computer is a Dell Latitude D830 laptop set in a docking station in my office.

I am looking for an answer to my problem short of buying a new keyboard.

Thanks for your help

A:Logitech wireless keyboard and wired mouse connection issues

If your using rechargable batteries try regular ones.
Check the driver is up-to-date.

If that fails go out and buy the best keyboard you can afford, if asked tell them I said it was ok !

This is a clean install of Windows 7 Pro x64. I've run out of ideas. Here's a list of what I've done thus far,

Keyboard/Mouse works flawlessly in UEFI BIOS but once I arrive at the password login screen it stops working

1) New RAM
2) New Mobo
3) Replaced fresh batteries on my Logitech MK550 kb/mouse combo
4) Checked BIOS settings for Legacy USB
5) Updated BIOS
6) Updated firmware on Samsung 850 EVO
7) Tried every USB port (2.0 & 3.0, front and back)

Here's the catch, once I unplug my WiFi receiver (ASUS USB-N53) keyboard/mouse works like normal, plug it back in, stops working at login screen.

What exactly is going on?

A:Wireless/Wired Keyboard & Mouse does not work on login screen

Hi 0pTicaL,

I found a similar thread about this issue but it was kind of ancient but Layback Bear advised the user to shut down the Fast Boot/Quick Boot option in the BIOS, and what he meant was that the system would boot up too quickly and that the drivers for the mouse and keyboard wouldn't load fast enough.

Basically I'm going out on a limb here so I'm not 100% sure it will work and oh yeah mouse and keyboard only need USB 2.0 ports.

All of these will take a long time to scan. Depending on how much you have on your hard drive a scan could take several hours.

Up until yesterday afternoon, all was working well with my system until quite suddenly my mouse and keyboard both stopped responding. I switched the USB ports they were plugged into and they started working again and I went on my way.

A little later I started getting a USB error, Unknown Device. So I unplugged all USB cables except for the mouse and keyboard ( hard to use the system without those guys) and the error went away. I was able to later last night to plug in my digital camera and download the pictures without recieving an error.

This morning the system was working just fine but after coming home from runing some erands, the mouse and keyboard wern't responding again. I've tried changing the ports the mouse/keyboard are plugged into without any success.

I haven't added any programs or made any changes to the system since my RAM upgrade back in early March.

Greetings oslecw to TSF,

Reading your post, I recommend that you shutdown the computer; then, power it up again, gently tapping whatever Key you use to enter SETUP.
Once in there, reset all options back to default, and allow the computer to restart.
Post back with the results.

Here is the full story feel free to skip if you don't think it's necessary So my dad and I found a computer at a garage with Screen Windows mouse after responsive Logo Black sale that had a TB HDD and a better processor than our current one in our family Black Screen after Windows Logo with responsive mouse computer so we decided to get it and move our HDD to its motherboard and I install the TB HDD into Black Screen after Windows Logo with responsive mouse my computer So after we put the quot new quot computer together with pieces of our quot old quot one I make a USB version of a windows repair disk so that the OS will be able to update itself to the new hardware But for whatever reason this doesn't work and the OS doesn't want to boot it would keep freezing during the startup animation for the Windows Logo Anyways we mess around with it for a bit and decide we might as well just put our old computer back together So we do so and put all the parts in correctly etc etc So this is where the problem starts Now when we try to boot up the computer we see the full quot Starting Windows quot animation however it remains up there for WAY longer than usual at least a few minutes eventually it goes away and we are greeted with a black screen with a movable mouse and nothing else We tried waiting a few hours but that changes nothing I then tried booting into safe mode but I still couldn't get in I then went to the quot Repair quot section by pressing F before the computer booted and ran the first option I forget what it was called but it was something along the lines of a quot startup-analyzer quot that would find and remove and problems that happened during startup however that reported that there were no problems during startup and that everything was perfectly fine I then tried to restore from an earlier point however that just gave me the message that the restoration failed I then ran the memory diagnostics check and it showed that the ram was perfectly fine So then I opened up the terminal and found and went to the correct partition and ran chkdsk with the options f r That took a few hours however it claimed that there were bytes of data in corrupted sections and that everything was fine So now I'm left with a confusing problem Everything looks quot ok quot with the hardware as far as I'm aware and we attempted to not damage anything during the process of switching different computers so why isn't the operating system starting Does anyone have any ideas or fixes

A:Black Screen after Windows Logo with responsive mouse

Welcome to the forums, Magnus.

It's probably a driver remnant left over from installing the drive in the old (new) computer. When you moved the drive to that computer and attempted to boot with it a flag probably got set somehow, and now you have to find a way to get it right before the machine will boot.

Try this tutorial and see if it helps:

Make Windows 7 bootable after motherboard swap

Hi If anyone could help me with my problem I would (The becomes mouse non-responsive, Firefox the Computer notably does with the of screen opening not.) freezes, though be infinitely grateful I m usually pretty good at removing viruses by doing an internet search to target my problem but this one completely baffles me and I m panicking a bit I m using Windows Vista So about an hour ago my computer started slowing down as it expected when I Computer becomes non-responsive, notably with the opening of Firefox (The screen freezes, though the mouse does not.) have been running my computer for many hours with a lot of windows Computer becomes non-responsive, notably with the opening of Firefox (The screen freezes, though the mouse does not.) and programs opened up So I restarted my computer and tried to Computer becomes non-responsive, notably with the opening of Firefox (The screen freezes, though the mouse does not.) reopen Firefox It redirected me to a screen that told me my Firefox had been updated and that s when my computer becomes non-responsive The mouse pointer moves freely but when I click anywhere on the screen nothing happens For example usually buttons become beveled or highlighted on mouseover but on my possibly-infected computer this does not occur Typing anything on the keyboard does not generated a response either I tried doing alt tab to see if I could switch windows I tried doing ctrl alt delete Interestingly I can still eject the CD-driver by pressing the button on the side of my computer That works Otherwise all I can do is hold down the power button with my finger until the screen turns off I have nothing popping up on the screen though No windows or random programs to indicate that I have some sort of rogue program What I have tried Starting the computer in safe mode without networking After everything loaded I did not try to open up Firefox Instead the first thing I did was open my antivirus program -- Avast Antivirus NOTE Avast window showed a header which told me that there existed a problem with my protection I don t remember exactly what the notice said but there was a link to try and quot fix quot the problem -- nothing happened when I clicked it I started a full system scan and it seemed to be progressing normally The scan was proceeding at about MB sec But about minutes into the scan with done I noticed that the quot number of files scanned quot was no longer rising Time was accumulating but files were not being scanned The speed dropped to MB sec but even then I would have expected that at least ONE file would be scanned in the duration of minutes I tried to PAUSE the scan and nothing happened I clicked the pause button but the anti-virus program became non-responsive the mouse did not turn into a revolving wheel to signal a process occuring just nothing happened Moving my mouse over different buttons on the anti-virus didn t cause the button to highlight or bevel like it should have Instead I tried to click outside the window and I initially I could switch between windows I also had a quot help quot window open but after a few times switching around to test the responsiveness that froze too Eventually I was left with a screen that could not change the windows were quot stuck quot even though the pointer was still mobile for some reason When I positioned the mouse over any of the windows it was a quot pointer quot but when I moved it down to the start bar it became a never-ending hourglass wheel I left it still for a few minutes and I saw that the time read though the infected laptop read so I m assuming it froze I wanted to press the quot start quot button to shut the computer down but the bar did not pop up I had to force shut it off by holding down the power key Right now I m extremely concerned because evening running an anti-virus failed me so I m not sure what options I have I m afraid to start the computer again lest I make the problem worse I m also worried because there is no indication of w... network sequence.

Verizon DSL Modem bridged to Cisco wrt57g router (which handles the wireless) and then a 8 port switch which all but the laptop is plugged into. wired machines can see and interact with laptop, laptop can see wired machines but can not log in to any across network. (network not found)

the wireless shows the name of the network, wired does not.

also, is there just anyway to reset network settings to start fresh? I don't even want to get into this homegroup thing (which I seem to have 4 of and they all have the same name, what ever happened to workgroups you could name?)

A:wireless won't see wired. wired sees wireless

Welcome to the forum Avix.

To get out of those Homegroups just leave them all by following this guide. Homegroup network only works with Windows 7 machines.
Homegroup - Leave

If you have other Op systems in your network you have to use either the Work or Public file sharing options. If you need to reset you can either use ipconfig commands or just reset the router and modem then follow the set up procedure for your router.
ipconfig - Windows Command Line Utility

Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network

Hello! Welcome to BleepingComputer Forums!
My name is Georgi and and I will be helping you with your computer problems.
Before we begin, please note the following:
I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
Stay with the topic until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.
Instructions that I give are for your system only!
Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.
Please perform all steps in the order received. If you can't understand something don't hesitate to ask.
Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. I will not help you if you do not follow my instructions.

Please download the latest version of Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Don't kill any malicious processes at your own.Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Make sure that Addition.txt is checked before you press the Scan button.
Press Scan button.
It will make 2 logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste them to your reply.

Georgi

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.Security CheckDownload Security Check by screen317 from here.Save it to your Desktop.Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.-AdwCleaner-Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.Click on Delete.Confirm each time with Ok.Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer. You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.--RogueKiller-- Download & SAVE to your Desktop RogueKiller or from here

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Also show ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

I have recently sorted out the wireless connection of a child's laptop to a wireless printer. It works perfectly. Howver, the parent's, wired, desktop computer does not now print. No changes were made to the desktop , which was working fine before this.. I am not at the location now but are there any ideas why this should suddenly occur. Both computers are running XP.

A:Wireless printer not printing from wired computer after connection by wireless lapto

Wireless printers can be connected both by USB and wireless simultaneously. However, I have come across many that say they should but don't do so easily. Sometimes they have to be setup wireless first then USB and others vice versa..
In my opinion, it is probably the best option to add the printer to the desktop through the network. Then there should be no problems with setup. Hope that helps..

I set up everything and if I have it wired it works fine but wireless it says can't find page when you try to get on the internet. I have set up networks before and never had a problem. first time I have used a Belkin router G+ I guess one of my question is this. I was reading on the Belkin site that it is already set for dynamic and that is for a cable modem and sounds like I should change it to pppoe for a DSL modem. would that make the difference. It is a brand new laptop and the wireless card is on and it sees the network and works when wired, it says it is connected wirelessly but wont get on the internet when not wired. Would the pppoe thing make a differnce? Please give me some help here. Thanks

Hi,

My laptop can't connect to my router, everyone else can but mine just wont connect. It has connected to the internet through the router a couple of times but it will only last for a minute or so and then the connection would be lost.

I have a windows XP laptop, my router is a Netgear Wireless-G Router WGR614 v9, and is connected to a modem.

My wireless card detects the connection but it just can't connect to it. When I tried to set up the router using the provided installation CD, it detected said that the modem wasn't being detected.

I appreciate any help I can get on this!

Here is my question, My roommate has a wireless network installed in the apartment we share. It is actually set up nicely, very rarely any problems getting on-line and browsing and such. The router is a Netgear WNDA 3700 and cable service is thru Comcast. I play a lot of on-line games and sometimes the connection will drop and I get a lot of lag and sometimes die (no fun). I was wondering if it is possible to run a Cat 5 cable from the back of the router straight to my computer, there is 1 connection available on the router, and If this is possible I want to make sure it won't interfere with him getting on the internet and doing whatever he does while I'm on-line. Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

I hope someone can help me with this.
I use AutoCAD ,and I need a 5 button mouse that is not wireless that can have one of the buttons programmed to ESC. I use the escape button a lot but I'm left handed and unless it's on the mouse it is a real hassle.
I have a wireless Logitech Laser but it has erratic spells and is not as precise as a wired mouse.
Now I am using a Microsoft Intellemouse Optical usb mouse but ESC is not one of the viable options for programming a button. When I try to program ESC , it just escapes.
Is anyone out there using or have you used in the past a mouse that you could recommend?

A:Wired Mouse Problem

There are ways to re-map the keyboard, so that you can use any other key, e.g. F12 or BREAK, as ESC.

You have to fiddle in the registry with this one: http://www.goatpunch.com/interflow?Remapping+Windows+Xp+Keyboard+Scancodes

An identical one, complete info with scan codes: http://www.usnetizen.com/fix_capslock.php

This one is a free re-mapper for XP: http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/

I generally don't have a need to network computers together. In fact if I do network in my home it will be for only one purpose and would prefer to have the network down 99.99% of the time.

I can run the lines needed to connect these two computers but wireless would be easier to get going.

I am just wondering if wireless is secure enough.

If I do connect two computers together I would want to set it up so I have a link on the desktop's where I can connect the network and disconnect it even if it requires me to hire out custom coding.

I guess what I am saying is would want the computers connected about once a week for a few minutes and then break the connection as easy as possible but also securely.

First one is simple wired Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse, named M-BT96a. First of all, it doesn't blink any lights at all when plugged into usb port (it should though?). Anyway, new USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse device appears in the Device Manager. I let windows find appropriate driver for it, but it didn't find any. I tried to google any driver for it but I couldn't. SetPoint480 was the last hope, but it didn't solve the problem either. So for now I got this not installed "USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse" device in device manager, and mouse being plugged into but not working at all (not powered).

Second mouse is Wenger Daytona wireless mouse. Seems like manufacturer doesn't release any drivers for this device at all. It works fine on my XP machine, Windows Server 2003 machine and I believe it worked too on Vista machine a long time ago, without need for any drivers.

Specs: hp pavilion laptop, windows 7 professional rtm 32 bit.

According to Logitech they dont support that mouse under Win7... Read here

As for the Wenger (Swiss Army Knife People)... cant find any info on their website that they still make or support any mice here is their homepage: Wenger. Maker of The Genuine Swiss Army Knife.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

Hi there,

So on my computer yesterday, my Microsoft Wired Optical Mouse 200 was working. Now, it's not.

I didn't install anything onto my PC, nothing. Just nothing. The only thing that happened was that I'm installing Windows 8.1 onto my desktop (the error is on my laptop, Win. 7) as I type this, but I absolutely don't think that would affect anything.

The scroll wheel and the two buttons (click and right click) still work, but moving the mouse does nothing. I tried rolling up a small thing of tape really tightly and lightly touching the inside laser with it, and the cursor moves, but only lasts for less than 10 seconds.

Still trying to get this network working right again. Everything, wired or wireless can see each other and connect to each other EXCEPT a Dell Mini 10 (w/ Windows 7 Starter). Now the Mini can see any other wireless laptop, but can't see or connect to a wired computer.

I can get the IP address on the mini and ping it from any wired computer and get a timeout. If you ping it with the computer name, it gives path not found error.

Running Windows Firewall and MSE AV. Checked all the advanced setting, tried all the IPV6 fixes, double checked all the sharing settings. VTW, the other wireless laptop (Vista Prem) can see the wired computers.

Anyone know why it would see anotehr wireless computer, but not the wired ones? I keep thinking something in Windows 7 Starter is the culprit, but that is what came on it.

I have a Dell XPS z which is about months old I have Windows I am having trouble with wired Left-click touchpad and misbehaving optical on mouse both left-clicking I first noticed the problem while working in AutoCAD I suddenly stopped being able to use my left-click Left-click misbehaving both on touchpad and wired optical mouse button at all I hit ctrl S to save so that I could reboot hoping the button would resume functioning when I restarted Strangely left-click immediately started working again Initially I only had this problem in AutoCAD The semester Left-click misbehaving both on touchpad and wired optical mouse ended and I stopped using AutoCAD I was assuming that there was a problem with that program and planned to reinstall before the next this semester of school Then I started experiencing left-click problems while browsing the internet I use Chrome I do tend to open a lot of tabs at a time when I am running a search don't know if this is relevant Left-click sometimes would randomly stop working sometimes it would just lag - click wait action long after expected sometimes it would randomly also start working again Sometimes when using the left button to drag a scroll bar in chrome it would quot stick quot the function would stay on the button did not appear to be physically stuck and this happens with mouse or touchpad and moving the cursor away from the scroll bar would navigate the page up and down The non functional left-click problem would also occur in Windows when I would say attempt to go into device manager to see what was up I should also mention that when the left-click on the touch pad stops working double tapping the touchpad also stops working I have tried connecting a wired optical mouse - same issue occurs with the external mouse though sometimes either the left-click on the mouse or touchpad will work while the other doesn't both or neither will work playing with the mouse click settings faster and slower double click - no luck updating the mouse and touchpad drivers - they report that they are up to date rolling back the drivers uninstalling the mouse going back to a restore point before the problem I saw one post which suggested that the display driver caused a similar problem I have updated my display drivers I saw a post responding to a similar problem but only in internet browser one reply suggested reregistering the dll for the mouse in IE I tried this didn't work - is there a dll which would address my problems Any suggestions This seems like a hardware issue to me because both the touchpad and external mouse have the same problem Agree Disagree I can do a system recovery or reformat if necessary just looking for a way to avoid that if possible I did manage to limp through backing everything up Thanks in advance

A:Left-click misbehaving both on touchpad and wired optical mouse

Hello and welcome JM looks like you have tried just about everything maybe you are looking at a warranty job my friend because I was going to suggest cleaning the mouse but if the same thing happens with the touch pad then that isn't much help.

If most of the drivers or whatever software fixes have not worked then just maybe a problem with the internal connections as you say a hardware issue, it only takes one dry joint or a dodgy cap to throw the whole thing out.

By the way you haven't spilt anything on the machine or dropped it or maybe a voltage spike if you have been using the mains adaptor without a surge protection device?

A:wired or wireless lan

Hello,

Data File transfers has nothing to do with the Data Usage, you're not on unlimited plan with Verizon?

You may do unlimited wireless/wired file transfers and won't affect your data usage plan with Verizon.

Streaming Music/videos, downloading/uploading files using wired/wireless internet connection will affect your data usage.

I've been using just a desktop PC, connected via USB to a Virgin Media cable modem. This has all been working just fine. Note: this PC is NOT wireless enabled.

Now I've bought a wireless laptop and got a Netgear router from Virgin. I ran the installation CD, plugged in the cables as directed and it all worked fine. Strong signal, fast conection, everything A-OK.

But I still need to connect my old PC to the internet. My current configuration is: Virgin cable line --> cable modem --> ethernet cable --> Netgear router. How do I connect my old PC now? USB from cable modem to PC? Or modem to router and then a second ethernet cable to the PC? Or something else entirely?

will it go faster??

well duh yes

i have 768kbps well actually 860kbps
my download is about 86kb somtimes 90 but 86 stable

will it be raelly faster?

A:wireless or wired

It all depends on what wired connection you are comparing with what wireless

the commonest Wired connections run at 100Mb/s whereas the commonest wireless networks 802.2g run at 54Mb/s wired connections range from 10Mb/s upto 1Gb/s whilst wireless runs from 11Mb/s to about 250Mb/s so there is some overlap in the ranges.

However any internet connection is based on maximum allowed by the ISP which in your case would be 860kbps which is way below the network speeds of either wired or wireless, so would not be effected by the switch.

Generally wired connections are faster that wireless but only really apply to local networks

Which system have you used?? I need some suggestions on which one is the best.

I'm running Windows 7. I set up my PC to connect to the Internet via wired ethernet. My ISP is FIOS. Everything was perfect. I wanted to test my wireless connection so I activated my wireless connection to compare performance and ensure my hardware was working correctly. Everything worked. Now I want to switch back to wired Internet so I went into the Control Panel/Network and Internet and I'm lost as to how to drop the wireless connection and go back to my ethernet wired connection. Can someone advise me as to the step by step process to do this?

A:Need To Go From Wireless To Wired

Right click the Wireless Connection and click Disable. You can Enable it when you want to use wireless again.

If this is a laptop, usually there is a separate button above the function keys or on the front of the computer, or a combination of Fn and a function key (F2 for HP) with an antenna symbol marking it, that is a wireless on/off switch. Turn off the wireless. Just remember to turn it back on when needed.

I have a Sony Vaio Laptop. It has EVDO broadband, Wireless ABG and wired Ethernet.
I have no problem connecting to the internet. Except for 1 application we are using that connects to a server via TCP. If I use the Wired Ethernet connection, no problem. If I connect using any wireless connection, it wont connect. Windows explorer works fine and I am able to ping the remote server via the command line. Does Vista block certain TCP ports for a wireless connection? How can I check a port in vista if it is open?

I have an existing wireless network. I need to connect a network printer. The network printer does not have wireless capability. The location the printer is to go does not have a network connection. What device do I need to plug the printer into that will connect it to the existing wireless network?
I have tried searching for extenders and repeaters but none of the results seem to offer what I need.

I received a Westel 327w wireless modem when I subscribed to Verizon DSL. I am only using one PC and have no intention of adding another.
Why wireless?
Would I be better off performace wise and be more secure using a wired setup?

A:Wired vs Wireless

in short...yes.

As far as speed, you probably wouldn't notice a huge performance decrease, but wired is DEFINATELY safer unless you take the extra precautions that wireless networking requires.

edit: Now that I think about it, there probably won't be a performance decrease since DSL doesn't have too much bandwidth (256Kbps I think).

I have a Netgear ASDL wired router with two PCs connected. I've bought a laptop and want to connect to the router using the laptop's wireless card.
What do I need to add to my router to enable me to do this?

A:wired to wireless

You'll need a wireless router; before buying you should check that the two routers can be configured to work with one another. Alternatively, upgrade your ADSL Modem router to a wireless ADSL modem router such as the DG834PN or DG834G(2). This will probably be the cheaper option, because you can flog the old router on ebay to offset the cost of the new one.

Also check out the LinksysbyCisco website as their products have been well recommended recently.

Hello I just got a new ASUS recently and it is a wired desktop while my old one is wireless. I have an ethernet cable but it is too short to reach the router so I tried to plug it into the other computer because I remember doing it a long time ago. It does not work and says it is unidentified and won't transfer the internet how can I fix this?

thanks

A:wired and wireless on pc

Are they connected to the same Internet source or different networks?

Let's see this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

So recently I moved my modem (DLS Gateway) from one room to another. In doing this I unplugged the Ethernet from one computer and plug it into a new one. There isn't a problem with the new computer being wired, but the one that used to be wired won't find my wireless at all. It won't even find other networks it just keeps saying that it's not plugged in to the Ethernet. My question is how do I get the computer so that it can find wireless networks.

A:Wired to wireless

It would help to what the computer manufacturer and Model number is. Desk top or Laptop?

Hello, I would like to receive a better signal and speed on my wireless network but i'm not exactly sure as to how I should set it up.

I'm currently using Wireless G, and the connectivity is horrible with a NETGEAR router. I want to know if i should just bring a cable up to get rid of wireless or hook up 802.11n wireless.

Is wired or wireless better, and is it worth the upgrade from 802.11g to 802.11n.

Thank you.

A:Wireless or Wired

Wired will ALWAYS be better than wireless. Wired connections are faster, more stable, more secure, and easier to configure. Wireless has one real advantage, it doesn't need wires.

I have a Netgear WGR614 54 Mbps wireless router, and a Linksys WMP54G wireless PCI Adapter installed. My wireless router is on a different level than my PC with the wireless adapter is on...
So im wondering, should I switch to wired ethernet again?
But one thing, I dont have CAT5 integrated in the house, and there is not a cable jack so I could plug a cable modem there either...Is there a way to either improve the wireless connection/performance or to install a wired connection easily?

My home network uses both Win XP Pro and Home. I use a wireless connection on all computers for the internet. No problems there. I would like to use a wired connection for file sharing, printer sharing and some network gaming. The problem I have is this. As soon as I plug in any computer to the wired router (which does not have an internet connection) that computer starts to look for the internet on the wired connection instead of the wireless, even when already connected and downloading something wirelessly. It will only return to looking for anything on the wireless when the wired connection is lost. How can I fix this? How do I tell windows to look for the internet and mail on the wireless and everything else on the wired? Can it be done?

Thanks in advance for reading my post and for any assistance you can provide In the process of upgrading my home network to optimize performance for new home entertainment gear We have a two story home and my internet service is DSL from AT amp T mb s max down Modem w built-in g is located in the master bedroom as we have only phone jacks wired/wireless me? Best up for set downstairs and neither are in ideal locations for anything except plugging in a phone So my first dilemma Best wired/wireless set up for me? is Best wired/wireless set up for me? whether to add a Best wired/wireless set up for me? phone jack in the family room This way I can move the modem there do wired ethernet connections to most of the equipment Biggest challenge there is getting to the location in the attic where the line would need to be dropped inside the wall So I will be dealing with one of two scenarios -- modem in master connected via wireless to family room equipment or modem in the family room with wired ethernet I have purchased two new Wireless-N routers in the last few weeks to see which best meets my needs or perhaps to use both together in a router amp access point set up One router is the TP Link TL-WR ND which offers gigabit ports AND a USB connection for connecting my external hard drive but this router is single band Ghz only The other router is the Linksys E which offers selectable dual band not simultaneous and gigbit ports as well but this one has no USB connection Scenario - Modem stays in the master with wired connection to TP Link router Then the Linksys goes to the family room set up as a access point client bridge requires DD-WRT with wired connections to all of the home entertainment gear Do I gain anything from this configuration vs not setting up the bridge and just connecting all of the equipment wirelessly to the TP Link router in the bedroom In either scenario the equipment is using a wireless signal that is coming either directly from the router in the bedroom or through a second router that is getting the signal wirelessly Scenario - Modem moves to the family room with wired connection to one of the routers The router would be changed from mixed mode to operate on N only All of the gear in that room would be hard wired Laptops and my TRENDnet TEW- GA Wireless N Gaming Adapter would go upstairs for the PS Would lean toward using the TP Link router in this scenario so I could connect my external hard drive to the network via USB Would then use the built-in router on the modem for my G devices and to connect my older devices to a different network SSID Unless there is a reason the Linksys would be the better choice here for other reasons I can put the Linksys in Ghz mode but I don t think any of my equipment operate on that frequency anyway Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated Particularly interested in knowing if custom firmware DD-WRT on one or both of the routers would be necessary in either scenario described above Thank you nbsp

I have an existing wired network with four computers behind a linksys hub which is behind a satellite modem that serves as a dchp server which I can not change. I have a son going to college in the fall and have purchased him a laptop with a wireless card installed. What is the cheapest way to have wireless access to my existing setup

A:Wired & wireless

How many ports is the hub?

Cheapest way would be to buy a wireless router and hook it up to the hub via a LAN port (instead of wan port) and configure the router to have all DHCP and settings like that on the router OFF.

The little more expensive but easier to set up way would be to buy a wireless acess point and hook it up to the hub.

The best way would be if the hub already has all the ports used then buy a switch (switches are better than hubs) with a few more ports than you currently have and swap it out with the hub. Then hook up either of the suggestions above.

I currently have two computers on a home network sharing DSL via a wired linksys router. I just purchased a Linksys Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router with 4-port switch. I only have two wireless pci adapters to utilize among 4 computers. Question is...How do I get them all on the same network. Is it possible to install the wireless network with the two cards I have and somehow extend the network using the hardwired router? Hope this isn't too confusing. I also would like to network two of the computers to one epson printer. Any suggestions or am I asking for too much? three of the computers will be fairly close to one another one will be in the basement. Equipment I have right now:

Lynksys wireless Ap Cable/DSL Router
Linksys 4-port wired router
Netgrear 4-port Ethernet Hub
2 PCI Lynksys PCI wireless adapters
Network Cable Cat-5
Crossover Cable
