Could anyone show me the steps of changing cpu processor in Acer Aspire 5750-6493?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Acer has added a new monitor to their gaming-focused lineup, the amazing looking XR341CK. This 34-inch 21:9 UltraWide QHD (3440 x 1440 pixels @ 75Hz) IPS monitor comes with a curved display in a zero frame design, which Acer says...
This type of monitor is the best way to channel the power of your GTX 980 Ti, which inherited its anti-aliasing power from the many generations before it, as opposed to having it choke on the 4K pixel-mania in chase for almost the same effect, at the expense of the dropped FPS.
Okay so my computer is manly for playing games but I ve been having a problem for quite some time that I & self it Bios GPU Usage Drops Changing & CPU can t seem to be able to fix During gameplay at some points totally randomly I start to have huge freezes both CPU and GPU usage drop insanely and following same do the fans this usually GPU & CPU Usage Drops & Bios Changing it self happens for or minutes sometimes even longer a simple relog from the game fixes it This also happens if let s say I go AFK from my game about minutes or so when I come back it s freezing ALOT I looked further into trying to fix this problem I tried almost everything until I had the idea to check my bios since I had previously overclocked my CPU not overclocked atm and surprise for me when I did a bios reset for default settings this is what I saw http postimg org image eoejxdyv That is changed by itself every boot And that is what is causing my GPU and CPU usage drops I have no idea why that is changing by itself at first I though it was AI Suite software from Asus that I had used before to overclock my CPU but even with that uninstalled it is happening I also thought about reinstalling my windows but I would rather wait GPU & CPU Usage Drops & Bios Changing it self for Windows to go public My Specs - Windows Pro - Bit - Evga Supernova Nex G Gold - Asus Z -Pro Socket - Intel Core i k ghz Ghz Turbo - Corsair Hydro H - Gigabyte Windforce R X GB GDDR - GB G Skill Ripjaw-X Mhz DDR Dual PS All drivers and software are always updated nbsp
Have you tried changing the cmos battery? The bios will not hold settings if the battery is bad.
I changed my microphone jack to an inline jack for a recording project, how do I change it back?
You may want to post your computers specs. Such as what os you have.
My dvd rom is not working wont take cd and makes a noise, will it be worth replacing it or should I just get an external dvd/ cd
I also have a Dell Inspiration 4700 that the on and off switch went bad. It has power therefore I dont think has to do with the power supply. I need some answers please on this two postings. Thank you
AMD is poised to make quite a comeback if a leaked slide proves accurate. The slide in question details AMD's Zen core APU and Greenland HBM memory-powered graphics and arrives courtesy of Fudzilla.
This chip looks amazing, and is certainly enough for AMD to make a huge comeback. I really hope this is true.
I have a Acer Aspire X3400 And I would really likle to upgrade it to 3.0 or 4.0, I also want to raise the FPS from 12 ( ikr, it's crap ) to a standard gaming pc
Please tell me

2. What parts you would advise me to get
3. Where can I find some that will fit

My acer battery was getting bad and my computer suggested I change it. Now with my charger plugged in(with or without battery) my laptop will power down after 15-20mins. I have ordered a new battery and will try it but I would have thought my laptop should run fine without one plugged in? Any idea the cause of this? My laptop would run for several hours on safe mode but even now safe mode is being powered down
I am looking to upgrade the GPU on this PC but I am unsure if the PSU will be able to support it. I am not looking to install a high end GPU only a low end card such as ASUS 2 GB AMD Radeon R7 240-2GD3-L PCIe. I am aware that the PSU has a max of 220w but I am unsure of the current load. Based on the basic system with no current upgrades are you able to advise me on this?
Basic specs are:
Windows 7 64 Bit
Intel Core i3 2120
Intel HD Integrated Graphics
2 HD (1 SATA 1GB)
1 Optical Drive
Realtek HD Audio
If necessary I am able to disconnect 1 HD and the optical drive as they are not necessary, also to disable the onboard graphics if possible if this will help.

Indeed, I thought initially that it was a EFI problem but the problem is simply a graphic driver issue with the graphic card GeForce 605.Click to expand...
I'm not positive a card can work in your machine and can not give suggestions.
Actually what happened is I opened my cpu to clean out any dust so I cleaned it and even cleaned under the processor with a dry cloth.but when I tried to turn on the pc when everything was arranged,a black screen with a paragraph of error is shown.turns off the pc automatically.
My motherboard is fine,it shows a green light in the extreme end.
My processor is working great.
Hard disk is also fine.
But still it is not turning onn. Please help.
Did you happen to have disconnected the power cable from the computer and press and hold the power button to discharge any built up static charges before opening and cleaning inside the computer?
You mentioned you cleaned under your processor. Did you pull the processor from the motherboard or was it still attached when cleaning?
Did you re-check ALL wires and connections? Try disconnecting all cables (to motherboard, hard drive, optical drive, video card, etc.) and then re-connecting said cables, making sure they are firmly seated.
Any chance you can take a photo of the error message and post it here?
May I suggest next time do not use a dry cloth, because you can actually build up static charge within the cloth itself and you could have discharged the built up static electricity into (or onto) one of the computer components.
I have an Emachines D525 laptop. I have the specs listed below. I need help because feel that it could run faster if it was given a better processor to run on. I would like to know what processors I could upgrade to. Thank you!
Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 900 @2.20 GHZ, 2194 Mhz
RAM: 3.00 GB
OS: Windows 7
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD V1.16
Anything else needed, please let me know!
You can change your hd for ssd at least 100 GB . Buy a case for external HD, and use the original hd of her machine, as the same external hd . replace the memory of 1 GB for a 2 GB . Your D525 will be very fast.
I want to learn how to manage ARM processor power management with LINUX (for example the Cortex-A53 MP Core).
Can someone recommend literature, a tutorial or web based information?

Acer announced two new gaming-grade 27-inch monitors at the Consumer Electronics Show last month. The XB270HU garnered the most media attention thanks to its IPS panel and Nvidia G-Sync technology. What Acer neglected to mention at the time, however, was...

Hi forum I have changed my power supply because my ex power supply involved in the problem specs was Watt Watt Real model GP B Green with that before it crash down my system was boot up correctly after I hit the Power On button on top of my chassis since a few days ago that I ve bought a new PSU with this spec Green Watt Real OC edition model GP B GOLD plus Gold now the problem is every time I want to turn on my PC first it doesn t boot up but it s powered on and all hardware are in correct position and nothing s weird just actually do nothing until I push or times Reset button or Power button from chassis and then after a while when it re-started again everything goes well and system will boot up perfectly note - new results and experience I decided to have had some tests so I told by myself let s check the computer when it s powered off recently and I did uninterrupted turn it back ON again so it worked I tried several times to power On and power Off shutting down from windows and it worked so I get that when my machine is powered off for half an hour or maybe several hours then it should be handle after my problem PSU changing Weird this problem Weird problem after changing my PSU which I mention and This test was a huge leap in my opinion pluralization - I m thinking maybe it refers to my new and fresh PSU maybe it has a new system delay interrupt or maybe optional Weird problem after changing my PSU setting that can help through this - maybe the problem is related to the cables I m not sure because I double checked the cables and all connections before - if problem is related to the Capacitors so in this case Capacitors are usually swollen but there is no sign of this condition I also double checked Capacitors for assurance - especially this PSU is the best kind of high power supplies and it s new no sign of ripple noise or any suspicious signs of its internal hardware - so we can say no MOBO suspicious no PSU suspicious no Graphics suspicious anything but only RAM at this point we can say maybe problem is refers to the RAM modules because I haven t test it yet and I hope it is nothing to worry - according to recent test we can assuming there should be a common setting or case that helping us through this because if there was a problem with any kind of hardware then why when I test it repeatedly ON OFF uninterrupted there was no sign of a problem and one more thing remember not to there is no sign or overheating of any kind of my hardware too I m always aware about this any help will appreciate in advance Thanks System Specs OS - Win Enterprise x CPU - i Video - GTX Mobo - Asus P X D Premium x chip RAM - GB Corsair XMP x GB MHz nbsp

Hi there I ve been having issues with my PC lately and have been looking for a place to ask them I hope you guys don t mind Firstly my PC is awfully slow It isn t very noticeable until I play a flash game or something similar Instead of running like it should the speed is decreased dramatically - levels which take one minute to go through take me at least three Now I ve always known that my PC is slow but after seeing that it s that bad I ve decided to make an upgrade I ve tried to keep track of different components and the worst one appears to be my CPU At standby it processor? better need Do I a usually runs at around - and when I launch a browser audio editing software or a game Minecraft in my example it immediately Do I need a better processor? jumps to I m forced to keep my setting to a minimum for it to function The CPU I have is an Intel Do I need a better processor? Pentium GHz chip with GB of RAM usually at Do I need a better processor? around - even when busy I have GB of free hard drive space Also for two years now in the winter months my PC randomly freezes and crashes when running a high-demand program for a while I ve always shrugged it off to overheating my PC is right next to a radiator but now I m really starting to worry about permanent damage I really want to get this solved quickly if possible and would really appreciate any advice you can give So does my CPU need upgrading Or is it possibly my GPU My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD series and I believe it s dedicated though I m not exactly sure By all standards it seems to be good enough at least so I m blaming the CPU for now Am I correct Thank you in advance for any help -Mike nbsp
I think you are jumping the gun on this. You've mentioned the fact that the PC is next to a radiator so you need to put that right. Secondly, like a car, a computer requires some maintenance. You need to keep the inside of the tower clean using something like an air duster can. The hard drive needs to be defragged occasionally unless it's SSD. Do you run the Windows Clean up utility to reclaim wasted space? Programs starting up with Windows that you aren't using cause a further drain on resources. A free utility that can be downloaded called CCleaner makes it easy to check that out. As the hard drive fills up things slow down so are there programs you can uninstall or stuff you can save elsewhere? See if things run better after you've followed up these suggestions.
I have an Acer that spontaneously decided I no longer needed to play games. Everything else works perfectly fine. It's been doing this for the past few weeks and I've done all that I can. I'm no tech wizard by any means and I need some help. Pretty much it'll open to the load screen for a few moments then disappear back to my home screen. Any ideas on what it could be and what I can do?
These are the specs:
Acer Aspire V5 Touch with Windows 8.1
Model number: Z5WV2
If you need more info let me know, I still have everything for it.
If you are talking about the games that are loaded by a app. You will need to uninstall the app. Then reinstall the app. I have no ideal why this happens . But I have seen it more then once.
Hi my name is Rafael of Brazil, rode a computer gamer very good, the settings I put down. My CPU is theoretically very good, but I can not play with it, the cooler that comes with the processor does not maintains the temperature when the BF 4 game with full graphics of 50 fps, but a few minutes later he shuts down and restarts in the middle of the game I think the manufacturing cooler's fault, because he goes from 100 degrees (HWMonitor), I will put an exhaust fan and I'm thinking about changing the cooler, am among the Hyper 212 EVO and H60. What would be better to cool off without the need for overclocking.
I would like someone to help me, which of these coolers is better. Hyper 212 EVO or H60?
If your Acer M does not start up Don t fret I found a simple solution With the computer turned off Remove side panel Reach M460 Acer inside and hold Acer M460 exhaust fan so it can not move While holding fan Push the on button on the front panel Listen for the quot beep quot sound After you hear the quot Beep quot release the fan The fan will start up after a second or two P S Do not let fan move until you hear the quot beep quot first Many suites on the web say it is the quot capacitors quot NOT TRUE I had this year for over a year When I turned off my Acer M Sometimes it would not start up I got so and I cut the wires inside the computer Purchased another used M it did the same thing Figuring I needed new caps I purchased a set of the two biggest caps Then I needed a soldering gun Then I needed to desolder the caps already on the board Then I purchased a rework station So far I have only used the air gun Starting yesterday This procedure works for me It will work for you as well nbsphttp://www.techspot.com/community/topics/acer-m460.207931/
Hello someone know if the I7 3820 is working with a graphic card pci-express3.0?
Check your motherboard specifications.
1 4gb samsung pc3-12800 1.35 v
1 4gb nanya pc3-10600 1.5 v
The timings are listed different on the stick.
HWInfo reports that at 666.7 both are 9-9-9-24
Crucial will sell me all 1.35 v memory as upgrades and the 4830T-6678 Timeline X came with the [email protected]
The laptop boots and runs with both sticks installed
Any thoughts on this?
Is the laptop reporting 8GB of memory installed? If it is, you should be okay

I had to look up BartPE to see what it was but I think it's unlikely to save the day in your situation.
Assuming that your priority is to get Windows 7 back I'd first check that you have the Microsoft authorisation code for your copy. If it was pre-installed on the laptop there will be a hidden restore partition and you could try holding down the Alt key while tapping F10 to access it. Failing that option I'd download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO, burn it to disc, reinstall the OS and hope that there are no serious driver problems. Both options mean that everything you have installed and saved will be lost unless you have already made backups.
Which is your main brand of choice?

Are you able to run Memtest for any length of period? Search for YUMI Multiboot. Download that, install it to a spare USB stick. Download memtest from yumi program. Boot off of stick and run memtest.
If not get a new motherboard/cpu off ebay.
I used RV042 10/100 4-Port VPN Router. I've configured the dual WAN, and enable Load Balancing for faster internet. But if I accessedhttp://ipchicken.com/ my IP Address is always chaging? How can I setup the router sticking to just one IP address?
Let me preface by saying....taking two circuits and using them at the same time, even with protocol management from the LB is most likely not worth the effort.
But for the sake of the argument, the first hurdle you have is that both circuits need to have static IPs. What type of connections are they?
Hello...I will start from the begining .
I bought the Acer V5 and tried booting it up...it came with boot-up Linux which means nothing to me so I made a Windows 8 bootable USB and the problems started. First I could'n find the USB and after enabling the Legacy mode it finally found it and booted from it. Turned out the partitions are GPT and as I made the USB MBR it couldn't install so I canceled which I guess was my mistake but there was no other option. After that I created the bootable USB with GPT partition scheme and tried again. Unfortunately this time I got something called GNU GRUB....wth? I googled around and found the commands required for booting - root (hd1,0), then chainloader +1 and finally boot. Then I get the famous The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors with Status: 0xc000000e. Of course tried that couple of more times but still to no avail. I cannot recover or repair as Windows was never really installed, so I don't know what to do....Hopefully someone here would be able to help. Thanks in advance guys.
Which 1 is better -
1)Exynos 5260 ; Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 & dual-core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15 with 2 GB RAM
2)Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 ; Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A7 with 1.5GB RAM??
Definitely the Exynos 5260, no question about it! It is really a 6 core CPU since it uses the 4 Cortex A7 CPUs to process regular loads and it taps into the 2 A15 CPUs when it needs extra power.
I am new here in techspot. I hove you can help me guys. When I open my laptop and run dxdiag processor appears but when I start to use my laptop become very slow. sample screenshot. thnaks.
1. Does your laptop feel hot when it starts to become very slow?
2. Did you update your AV, Malwarebytes then do a full scan?
3. if you have done all that and nothing is found next is update all your drivers & windows
If after all those 3 it still becomes slow just post back with results

Hey guys, I'm pretty much a noob at this.
Long story short... My acer aspire 5552 will not stay on. When I turn it on I have to press on a certain area if not multiple areas. Before I had opened it and cleaned out the fan it use to overheat like crazy it used to hit about 90 degrees I'm wondering if that has ruined something?
Thanks in advance
First of all. Why do you have to hit certain area or for that matter. Multiple areas. It may still be running to hot. Or something was damage when you put in back togather. If it is running to hot . It may need new thermal pads.
Hey everyone I own the Acer Aspire G- and I ve had it for a little over two years now One 5552G-7641 Aspire with Temperatures Acer Extremely High of the main problems I have with it is its temperature Right now when all I have open Extremely High Temperatures with Acer Aspire 5552G-7641 is Firefox and iTunes the temperature according to Speedfan is as follows HD C Temp C GPU C Core C I have the rear of my laptop suspended about cm in the air by putting two bottle caps in the rear corners This is an attempt to promote better cooling When I play video games it overheats to the point that the laptop shuts off automatically I understand that the majority of overheating issues is not cleaning enough And indeed I have never cleaned my laptop before However opening the laptop or bringing it to a tech-guy is not really an option at the moment I have read on many forums that using compressed air is efficient but I have also read that it can be extremely dangerous on laptops because of water moisture Also they seem to only pertain to desktops With that said I am here to ask for advice as to what to do with this thing The only ventilation hole is on the left of the laptop and takes up about of the side If any additional information is needed I will gladly provide it Thank you nbsp

Just ruled out malware in other section of this forum. Laptop's integrated keyboard suffers intermittent lock-ups for no apparent reason (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, right now, doesn't). Touchpad seems deactivated (tried FN + F7 in case of accidental disable, but that's not the case), every option related to touchpad are grayed out in 'mouse' menu (config panel). Before malware check-up,tried system restore to last week, all problems were still there, so I reverted back. I have to use visual keyboard to type. Have to work with external mouse because touchpad doesn't work. Tried reinstalling touchpad drivers from Acer website, and didn't work. Computer worked perfect a few days ago.
Sounds like you may have some system files corrupt. This can occur after a lot of spyware. Some times just removing it dose not correct what it has already messed up. Your best maybe to back up your personal stuff. Then do a factory reinstall.

That is an AM3 socket CPU which means it should be compatible with the Phenom II series CPU's. I looked up the board and it should still support up to a 95 watt CPU so any Phenom II X4 CPU with a 95 watt TDP would work on it.

So newegg is offering the Acer 29" B6 B296CLbmlidprz IPS monitor for about 350. Seems like a pretty good deal but I can't find many reviews on it. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with this monitor and/or if you guys have better options for someone who is looking for an IPS monitor below 400 bucks. I want to game with it as well as do some 3d modeling and photoshop work. So I need reasonable response time for gaming. I was also looking at the HP ZR2440w and was gonna get that until I saw this deal on newegg for a larger monitor. 24" models are fine but if there are good deals on some 27" inch ones then I would be interested in those as well. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Heres the link for that monitor.
I'm using windows 7 I'm connected to my Verizon router with a Netgear stick. I have it set up for WEP because that was the easiest to figure out. But neighbors are stealing my signal, and slowing me down.
How do I change from WEP to WPA? Simple instructions please Thanks
Do you have both, a device and a wireless access point that supports WPA? WPA2 is what you want for the best protection. Before you can setup WEP/WPA/WPA2, you must have both reciever and transmitter that supports the encryption.
Setup the encryption from within your wireless access point. It could be an independent access point or a combo unit such as a wireless router.
Connect the device that support the encryption of the wireless network.

I removed CD rom from laptop but had same result. It has two 1GB rams, I removed them one at a time but had same result. I then removed Harddisk and tried to make it boot from USB, but had same result. It was shutting down after 10 - 30 seconds. I see the Fan running when ever I start the laptop. Fan is very clean. no dust, dont think its a heating problem then.
please can some one advise what could be issue.
I ran it on full battery but had same result. Then I removed battery and connected the power cable into laptop, same result. it shuts down after few seconds.
Sounds as though its over heating. You might try taking a can of air and blowing the vents out. If this has not helped. You may need to take it to a repair shop. and have the thermal pads replaced.
So I installed a second Hard drive this weekend. And I want to create a new partition on the new hard drive, which will hold my boot files. So I want a partition of my second hard drive to be my main boot device. (Like 20gb)
Then I?m going to combine my first hard drive, and the remaining space left into 1 partition.
My Local disk has my Boot, Page file, and Crash dump. I want to move this to my new partition. (Second HD)
I tried moving the entire windows file in my local disk to the second hard drive, half way through it wouldn?t allow me to move all of the files.
How do I do this without re-installing windows?
Hey guys, I'm planning to get a laptop for general stuff and gaming. It's important to me that I can play PC games that aren't too intensive graphics wise. I need a laptop that can run games like Skyrim, TF2 and some MMOs at preferably medium to high settings (but I could go for med to low). The laptop I've found is here:
ACER V5-552 15.6" Laptop
Processor: AMD A10-5757M (2.5GHz, 3.5 GHz with Turboboost, 4MB L2 cache)
Storage: I TB HDD (5400 rpm)
6 GB RAM (DDR3) Up to 12 GB installable RAM
Graphics Card: Integrated Radeon HD 8650G
OS: Windows 8(.1)
Is this going to work well with fairly easy games or could I go even more intensive for games like Crysis 3 and BF4?
Thanks for your help,
That processor is OK for gaming but the built in GPU is a little low if your expecting high settings even at 720p (With a decent framerate of course). On a game like Crysis 3 Which is so heavy on GPU's, you will likely only get low on that. As for BF4, I can say Medium 30+ FPS at that resolution. If you want a gaming grade laptop, your going to have to jump up a few notches for performance.
This is a medium-low end gaming laptop designed more for people playing not as intensive games as your listing. If you have a budget, could you list it and we will make some alternative solutions. Im assuming around $550 since newegg lists that laptop for that price, but with only 384 stream processors your not going to get far with that even at 720p except on the low settings. BF3 for instance on the 7660D (Which is just the 8650D essentially) runs at 58FPS average on low settings on a 720p monitor.
Have a home computer (E6600 2 gig ram) The led and activity lites an power supply fan keeps running after it shuts down so I have been turning off the powersupply
When I turned the power supply on today I got a puff of smoke out the back
So I'm going to use my case, burners, hard drives, video card etc and upgrade
I'll replace the power supply use Window 7 64 bit, ram etc
I don't game ,mostly use the web burn DVD an blue ray later
I've used Intel an Gigabyte in the past with good success
I haven't build a computer foe several years so appreciate your help
I'll be getting the parts from newegg
A few quick questions for clarification:
You mentioned reusing your RAM modules, are the modules DDR3?
A new motherboard will likely not support IDE drives, are all your drives SATA drives?
Intel Core i3, i5, and i7
1st generation - LGA1156 (Nehalem)
2nd generation - LGA1155 (Sandy Bridge)
3rd generation - LGA1155 (Ivy Bridge)
4th generation - LGA1150 (Haswell)
If you want the latest and greatest, the 4xxx CPU's and the LGA1150 CPU socket is what you are looking for. If the second (2xxx CPU's) and third (3xxx CPU's) generation is good for you, the LGA1155 CPU socket is what you are wanting to look at.
I have the Acer GN245HQ 3D monitor and I need your help to set the parameters of this screen for that I can have a good calibration of colors, and the best reactivity in game, for exemple what's the right value that I must set in the OSD, now I have the default value OSD=10.
Im using the GTX 680 graphic card.
Plz help me.
Colours are subjective to each display, so must be calibrated separately. Google around for guides.

Athlon 64 x2 4200+ with a Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS
If its not what would be a good motherboard thats compatible?
The Athlon will not work with that motherboard as it is socket AM3+
You need a socket AM2 board, Or an AM2+.
Hey guys Excuse my lack of proper harddrive Problem WD with external case changing terminology I am new to these things Recently my gb WD external hard drive had the USB port connection on the hard drives circuit board break off So Problem with changing WD external harddrive case I went and bought a new case from my local computer shop I had originally taken my HD to see if they could solder the usb port thing back on to the circuit board but they said they don t do repairs So he looked at my HD and told me which case would be best for it I come home and follow his instructions and remove the circuit board from which the usb port fell off from which also supplied the power and connected to the SATA power port on the HD and put it in to the new housing When I connect it to my laptop it does not show up under My Computer However in my icon tray it shows a USB device has connected and it gives me the option of removing it safely I can hear the HD starting up when it gets plugged in but nothing else happens When I removed the HD from its new case and put the old circuit board bit back on and manually held the usb with the usb port connection on to the circuit board from where it came off from I am able to get it recognized by the computer and the WD software for the password prompt starts up So I know my HD is functioning I just cant get it to function in its new case Any help would be much appreciated Thank you nbsp
Is the new case powered in the same way as the old case? If yes, I would return the case.
The Z5771 does have a pcie slot for an external graphics card - how you get he case open I have not investigated but I was planning on buying a decent card for it. The only proviso seems to be it neds to be a low profile card.
You will have to look the case over carefully to figure out how to open it. There are plenty of low-profile PCIe cards out there to choose from
I recently bought a computer which I will primarily use for work and web browsing but would also like to play the occasional game I would like to know if upgrading my psu and processor will help if it s possible and what to upgrade to My system information Operating System is Windows Ultimate my Am psu and able processor? i upgrade to -bit System Am i able to upgrade my psu and processor? model is Packard Bell Bv Istart Processor Gigahertz intel pentium Somebody has already told me the following Your motherboard has a PCI-e x port It will accept any almost any graphics card out there But your CPU will bottleneck anything that will play games decently Also the PSU Am i able to upgrade my psu and processor? with these pre-built PC is often of quality just enough for the system in question You won t be able to put a mid-range graphics card in it even previous generation ones If you want to use this PC for a little gaming a Radeon will do It does not require additional power connectors It might still be more than your CPU can handle but its around the lowest card you can get Still if you can you can built a nice little gaming PC that can run modern games for around nbsp
Packard Bell PCs are notoriously hard to upgrade, I think because they use non-standard power supply and case connectors, like some Dells. Such an old system is not worth spending money on (I tried the same thing a couple years ago with a high-end Dell Pentium 4, and it was a waste of time and money - bottlenecks, freezes, BSODs, etc). I would start with a cheap socket 1155 board and an i3 or i5 processor, then it would be worth adding a decent video card and power supply.
Got aspire 7520 series notebook, who wont boot but on boot flashes caps lock 2 times need to find what problem indicates two blinks
Remove the battery and connect the AC adapter only... does it then boot?
Hello there everyone I recently found out how bad my AMD- APU was I thought it was decent but apparently not I have a GTX which I know from fellow gamers can run most games on high settings I was a little upset when I started to experience crashes but apprently it s because my CPU is complete crap which I honestly did not know I ve been thinking about what to upgrade too and so far I ve been leaning towards this baby here http www newegg com Product Produ E amp gclid CKmk PTLsrkCFcie AodwHYA A I think that will do me fine but I wanted to make sure I was all good just to be sure Specs that will be with the card are as follows GPU-GTX Motherboard- ASRock MB-A PR M Socket FM AMD A FCH AMD Quad CrossFireX SATA amp USB A amp GbE Micro ATX Motherboard Psu-GS watt I really just need this build to last until March or so then I ll be building a new top notch rig Thanks -Luke Here s another cpu I was considering http www newegg com Product Produ E amp gclid CN- -erXsrkCFUqk Aod QMA g nbsphttp://www.techspot.com/community/topics/processor-help.196060/
I am looking to build my own PC as I can't afford £1,000+ to get someone to make one for me, I will be using it for gaming and communication and a little college work, I will probably be using Bullguard to protect it and OpenOffice instead of Microsoft Office with a Win 7 64bit OS.
Bearing this in mind what would be the best Processor for the Intel Core i5 3.4 GHz Quad-Core (BX80637I53570K) Processor and what would be the maximum Memory and Storage I could attach to it? ( I preferably want 8GB of Memory and 1tb of storage ) but I can be flexible.
The CPU you want is the i5 3570K. That runs on the socket LGA 1155. When you are on a budget, any mid range mobo will suit your needs. Use the savings from the mobo towards a better HDD or even an SSD. You will also need a GPU.
I would recommend the ASUS P8Z77-V LK motherboard. As for RAM, 8GB is enough. As for the HDD, 1TB is great. I recommend the WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD.
Make sure you can get in a GPU.
I am having an issue with the sound on my laptop. It will play videos and music, but at some point the sound just....freezes. It is like when a CD has a scratch and it plays the same two words over and over again. Most of the time the screen is not frozen and I can click to exit out or shut the computer down. The sound, however, does not stop when I shut it down or unplug it. It only stops when I remove the battery. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have an Acer Aspire 5332 and this used to happen to me but when it used to happen I would open up task manager, go to processes and find explorer.exe, then I would click it click end process then go to the applications tab and click new task, then just type in explorer.exe this fixed it for me and it happened for a while but went away on it's own. Hope this helps you.
I have a dell latitude c640 laptop ddr sdram, P4, 1.20GHz, HDD 30GB, L2 Cache 512 KB, and RAM 256 MB.
I need to remodel the laptop so that it can work with virtualization simulations & have atleast 4GB RAM. Can you kindly let me know the processor, motherboard, and specifications of other upgrades which will be compatible enough to enable me to reuse THIS very laptop just by upgrading it? Also let me know an approximate cost estimate.
I repeat kindly let me know the specifications of the above which will work with this series of laptop for virtualization simulations using Virtual Box, OpenvSwitch, Xen etc.
Laptops do not have standardized motherboards that will interchange. If and I stress IF there is a motherboard you can use as an upgrade, you would need to contact the manufacturer for the specific details. There is little to no way for anyone to know these details, outside manufacturing service department.
I'm having a problem with my laptop, it seems to have a massive drop in performance. I have a AMD Athlon II M300 (2.0Ghz, 1MB L2 Cache) dual core processor. After noticing the lack of performance I checked my windows base score (crude I know) and the score has reduced from 5.7 to 2.9 (it's pretty much halved) The laptop struggles to do medium powered applications and I'm thinking one of the cores has went down (is this even possible?) I've tried using cpu checkers and the speed what comes back is 2.01 ghz, is this right for a dual core, I'm not really sure how it works. Also this test was done directly after a clean install of windows. Any help and advice would be appreciated, thanks. James
Check your power profile settings in windows.
Hey People! I'm new here... Greets for everyone!
Anyway, I wanna build new system and now I am looking for the best processor to use?
As motherboard I am using Biostar Hi Fi A85W and I wanna put 6 GB DDR3 RAM on it. My graphics card will be my prior GTX 450. what do you guys think? my budget will be 200$
Well, the best processor you can get is the A10-6800K which will work perfectly with your budget of $200. I believe the CPU is only about $150.00 at most retailers online.
Greetings I have posted repeatedly over in the BSOD area on an issue I am having That s not why I am here I am thinking on going from a cached drive that I have now to a cached and a platter to drive SSD Changing a drive from an separate SSD and a platter drive Let me explain I currently have a gig SSD and Changing from a cached drive to an SSD and a platter drive a Terrabyte Corsair HDD I Changing from a cached drive to an SSD and a platter drive use the gig as a cache drive using Intels SRT I have no proof but I am leaning towards my little ssd as the cause of why I am having issues With that said bear with with me I wanted to get a new SSD and install Windows on it and or of my games on it and use the Terrabyte obviously for storage and non essential programs I currently have Win Pro on my Terrabyte drive Can I pull both drives out After decelerating it of course And put in a new Corsair Force SSD say gigs install windows my games and than reconnect the HDD which has windows on it All that text just for a simple question Also can I remove the Windows Folder or uninstall Windows on the Terrabyte drive or should I just leave it Thanks much nbsp
Best way - pull the data from the drives, then format them. Put data back on.
But, yeah, your suggestion should work too. Just watch out for the duplicate MBR entries upon boot.
I have several Dell desktops (745, 755, GX260, T5500, Etc) all Win7 and Server 2008, that have factory hard drives; I want to make them removable drives. In the past
I have special ordered desktops with T-7 units from Dell.
Now, I need to make about 20 desktops removable drive desktops, any ideas, Dell says I can't really add a Dell sponsored caddy / cage.
My other issue is I have to add whole disk encryption to it, TrueCrypt is perfect.
I also have to add USB tape backup unit. Q: does anyone have an USB portable tape backup unit and encrypting the hard drive and tape?
Alright, as the title explains, my computer won't use any form of headset's mic, like at all. Not even its own built in mic, please halp, and I know not **** about computers, so if you could like, explain in ******* terms, I would be incredibly grateful. It might help that I'm a computer gamer, so this would be awesome if you guys would help me. Thank you!
Ive got an acer notebook that dosent like to turn on it will sometimes and when it dose it normally gose in to hibernation you can then get it to turn back on buy pushing the power buton but I gose back to hibernation after 2mins or less I have tryed dischageing the system I need to get it runnig for a project im doing plz help any help apreciated and thanks in advance also I dont no what verstion it is all I no it was bought new in 2008
My mom wants to buy an i3 desktop since its cheaper than i5 and says we can just upgrade to a new i5 processor once we have the money, is this a good idea or just wait till we have the money and buy the desktop with i5? my brother is the one who will use it for graphic stuff he is into special effects.. I hope I can get some idea about this.
You are better off going straight for the I5. Intel change their sockets every few years so when you upgrade, you may need to purchase a new motherboard (more costly) or buy the outdated I5 processor.
So here is my problem screen Aspire problem Acer 5920G with Acer Aspire G Acer Aspire 5920G screen problem also I don t understand much about computers bear with me One night I turn off my laptop like normaly the next morning I turn it on for a surprise The screen remained pitch black even though I could clearly hear windows boot up along with other programs like skype popping up Pressed a few random keys and thought I should restart Same thing no reaction from the screen what so ever but I can still clearly hear windows starting up So I browse the internet and here s what I ve tried - I removed the battery held the power button for a while re-inserted the battery turn it back on gt No help - I switch my RAM cards with one another gt Doesn t work - Turn it on and point a flashlight at the screen to check the backlight nada - I check if the magnet for detecting if the screen is up or down is working and it is when I lower my screen it goes to hybernate mode boots up if I click something - I plugged in an external monitor new and functional and press the switch screen button combo but its not reacting the external monitor stays black too It doesn t flicker or anything its giving off no signs of life but I m puzzled because if the screen died it should clearly work on an external monitor which it doesn t Has anyone encountered a problem like this Any ideas on how I might fix it myself and even if I can I m still wondering about what it might be before I send it out to find out the repairs are too expensive I d rather buy a new one nbsp
Try running one memory at a time... first one module, then the other..
Then test with a different hard drive, to see if you can boot to an install screen with your recovery disk...
So my brother has a Foxconn 2ada 1.00 motherboard Link: http://www.estaxe.com/index.php/layout-foxconn-2ada-1-00-motherboard/
and wants to upgrade to a good processor, willing to spend $100-$200. What do you guys recommend? Is it worth investing more than $200.00+ for a CPU for a better gaming experience? He has also has an Nvidia Geforce GT 620 just as an added note. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! One website said this Link:http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/specs-2ada-foxconn/ but I trust you guys more...
Well, it is a 1155 socket motherboard. Hence, you can technically fit in any Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge that is below the recommended motherboard/CPU wattage. In this case, that is 95W. I think a i5 and i7 will be a waste. What processor does he currently have? I think a Pentium or i3 is a good option.
I have operated a small one man IT company for the last several years Most of my clients are small businesses Lawyers Chiropracters non-profits Right now I have several client offices that are upgrading up from Pentium systems and a few others that want to add basic desktop systems to their offices to act as counterparts to their mobile computers that they use primarily These offices generally are interested in low cost systems that can adequately and relatively speedily handle their basic operations web browsing word processing email database and CRM access etc Anyways I have generally not kept a large number of systems in stock before usually reselling systems that clients trade-in to other clients or just helping an office choose a good system off of newegg or geeks Since I have had so many requests for systems lately though I have decided to start actively buying systems office to Processor resell suggestions systems budget for I have over a decade of experience refurbishing systems so I decided to shop around for used systems to fix up but I have been having a hard time deciding Processor suggestions for budget office systems to resell on a processor line generation brand to focus on I m considering the Intel Core Duo or a Turion or Athlon dual core Pentium D dual cores are very cheap but I know they are much slower than the core duos From their benchmark scores though it seems like a GHZ pentium d might be better than a Ghz core duo Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated in this regard My goal is to keep these systems under to sell and I don t need anything cutting edge nbsp
I think a Pentium G2020 will bring you the best performance for $65. The AMD A4-5300 is another great choice for $55. I think the Pentium is probably the better choice because of the larger cache, but for web browsing, word processing, and basic activities, the AMD will be fine.
Hi, I'm trying to install the XFX Radeon HD 5450 1GB graphics card into an Acer Aspire x1301-U1312. So far, I physically installed the card into the PCI express port (x16) but it doesn't seem like it's recognizing the monitor. When I remove the card and plug the HDMI cable back in the integrated GeForce 9200 graphics card, it works just fine.
What's the best solution to this problem!?
Any whom, thank you.
Did you install the drivers before you physically installed the card? That would be my first suggestion. Check to make sure you put it in the PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot and not the PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot. Also, try the DVI or even the VGA connections on the card to see if those work instead. You might have a bad HDMI port on the card itself.
Hi guys I m a bit desperate right now Here s the thing I have an acer g English bought in the Netherlands out of warranty original HD GB western digital included with windows home premium The hard disk is dying Everytime I restart windows demands a launch repair that takes HOURS otherwise it won t boot and will restart I bought a brand new Momentus XT GB It was fairly simple to remove the original disk and replace it physically Problems start with trying to install an OS on the acer -First off I went to the bios and set it to boot up first with the optical drive so I can use the recovery DVDs that I created on day one when I purchased the laptop It just doesn t doesn t do anything when I put the first one and restart Only the prompt blinking and the disk even stops spinning -I made New hard on drive 7 5740 can't windows acer aspire install sure the DVD drive reads discs I put back my old hdd waited till I can use windows again hours after launch repair and tried to read many DVDs and they all seem fine -Back to New hard drive on acer aspire 5740 can't install windows 7 the new drive installed No recovery I researched a bit and found out that erecovery only works New hard drive on acer aspire 5740 can't install windows 7 on acers with the quot hidden partition quot on the disk that came from factory Gotta find New hard drive on acer aspire 5740 can't install windows 7 another plan -I downloaded a copy of windows GB and burned the iso file on a blank DVD with hopes of installing it and then activating it with my key - Inserted Windows DVD created with the microsoft tool Same problem no reading I check again if my optical drive can read at all checked it reads DVDs - At this point I m not sure what else to do What I want All important files I had in my old hard disk are backed up somewhere else I just need to get rid of the dying disk and replace it with my brand new hd and install windows on it and then activating it I just can t seem to do this any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks nbsp
Try formatting the new drive using something like this:
then try and install Windows 7
Do you have to update or change the Motherboard to update the processor?
I have a Pentium 4 processor 548, 3.33GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 533MHz front side bus. Can one "Plug and Play" so to speak with an updated processor to the same Motherboard?
Your CPU socket is PPGA478, P4 is the highest CPU this socket will support.
Even with LGA775 CPU socket, unless you had a motherboard that would support quad core, there would be little reason to upgrade over a complete system replacement.
In answer to your question to "Plug and Play", yes and no. Yes CPU's are basically plug and play, and No the motherboard must support the CPU first.
My sister in laws Acer aspire 5750z-4885 was recently sat on and the screen is cracked. I was going to replace it for her but before I order a new screen I was wondering if it is even just the screen and not something else that I cannot repair. The laptop since getting the screen cracked will shut off after powering up in about 4-7 seconds or so I haven't used a stop watch lol.
I am wondering if perhaps there is a short or some other dmg caused by the screen being cracked that will not be remedied by replacing it. I have limited experience with cracked lappy screens. Thank you all so much for any and all replies I love this board and it has helped me many times in the past.
Yes, the cracked LCD screen can be the cause of the shutdown. Replacing the LCD panel is not that difficult for someone experienced, but for you it might be too much. You have to disassemble the top cover without breaking the plastic. The video cable might not be included with the new panel, so you would have to use the old cable. The cable connection to the panel is very delicate...
Hello people, I want to know whether my processor will bottleneck my graphic Card ?
My Specs can be found in my profile.
I have been playing Games Like Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon future soldier. When I use my MSI afterburner, I see that my graphic Usage never goes high, it mean, It rarely reaches 70 %. It remains stangent at 60 % or near to that. Whereas my friends Get usage upto 96 %. Could bottlenecking be the reason?
Another Info, All my temps are normal. My resolution is 1366 x 768. I bought HD 7850 so that I could max out all the games and play then-m lag free on ultra settings at my low resolution of 1366 x 768, This card is upto my expectations, but I only get approx 40 FPS in Ghost Recon future soldier whereas other people get 50 - 60 FPS in ultra settings.
So, can I know the problem ? Thank you.
Dual-core won't be helping things, and you may notice a 10fps drop. I'm not gonna bother quoting sources because I can't easily find them and they are dodgy anyway...
But, disable ambient occlusion.. it's a big performance hit.
Anyway, to conclude, your system is fine overall.
Thanks,..this laptop acer Aspire 4551 start but the display stay black (no video) I'd like to flash the bios,... I've seen some videos but I don't understand very well ,...could you to teach how to do ? step by step please......GOD BLESS YOU
Well, can you even boot up into the machine? Or is it all black?
Hi, I have been having some technical difficulty's lately with my Acer ASPIRE's monitor. I will be watching a video, doing work or making one of my games when my monitor will go to black-and-grey lines. So far, the only way to postpone the problem is (Once Problem has occurred) to hit the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys, which will bring to the Windows 7 Options Menu. Then just close that... But it will happen again and the fix is rendered useless I then have to restart my laptop. Any ideas? Please comment!
I think this may be a graphics card issue. Please tell me your system specs (CPU, Graphics card, OS - 32 or 64bit).
I want to buy a laptop to run professional recording software. The minimum requirement is an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.67GHz. Can I use a quad core with less speed. What are my options?
Is there a trial version of the software for you to test on your current system?
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to processors, but which is better ?
Also, can these be used on the same motherboard?
When I look on this comparison chart it says that the AMD X2 is uses a 939 socket, but when I look on my computer it says I'm using a AM2(940 pin) for the X2 processor.
Look at the X2 and X4 labeling on the CPU's. The X2 means two cores and the X4 means 4 cores running at the advertised frequency. Aside from that the Athlon 64 is an older architect than Phenom. The two CPU's you linked to uses different socket designs and cannot be used on the same motherboard.

The "for Intel mobile 45 chipset only..." notification is so that a potential buyer is aware that just because the CPU is Intel and socket is Intel doesn't mean the CPU is automatically compatible.
Notebook CPU upgrades are largely a hit-and-miss affair. In addition to the chipset and socket compatibility, you have to deal with a custom BIOS particular to the machine. You might want to check out >>this K50IN CPU upgrade thread<< Both the 9700 and 9900 are 1066MHz FSB (QDR), so theoretically there is little between them. Before swapping out make sure that the BIOS is updated (see the link in the last post in the thread).
The title pretty much says it all.
Here are my specs: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1808734
Amd makes a really nifty, comprehensive piece of performance software called AOD. It can be had here:
Most x2 2xx models will OC to between 3.5-3.8Ghz depending on the motherboard you are using. You should list the rest of your components so we know what we are dealing with, including the PSU you are using. assuming you have quality components, you have the advantage of many others OC'ing this model before you. using AOD is nice as you can shorten the time to OC before making the final stable settings semi permanent in the bios if you choose, or setup an OC profile in AOD to use only during intense operations or gaming if you like. If you want, you can jump right to a setting of 3.4Ghz by raising the HT ref to 242 and the V-core to 1.475 and running the built in stability test for 15 minutes. from there raise the HT ref by 5-10 Mhz and run the stability test until it breaks. You can then raise the Vcore in intervals of .025-.05 until stable. Remember your CPU has a locked multiplier so you will be OC'ing the whole system when you raise the HT ref clock (memory,Northbridge, etc) you may want to drop the HT/NB/CPU multiplier back while you find the maximum OC to eliminate it as a possible limiting factor. a couple things to keep in mind...
1) watch temperatures. Its a REALLY good idea to have after-market cooling (heatsink/Fan) while OC'ing
2) make sure you have adequate PSU, both in capacity and quality.
3) the maximum Vcore for this generation of CPU's is 1.55v, better yet, stay at or under 1.5v -1.525v
4) with very good cooling (and if you want to push up over 1.5 V) you may get over 4.0Ghz.
Here is TechPowerup's Oc of an x2 240, you can get an idea of the settings they used to get 3.8Ghz OC (typical OC for this CPU if you have decent MB,PSU etc)
Here is a look at the control screen of the AOD
Brighthouse "insists" there is no way to change IP address! lol
There must be!! I go to "start" , Run....."command"
Type in "IPCONFIG/ALL
Brighthouse tells me, you have to wait 24 hrs until "lease expires".
Anyone know of a way to change IP on the fly??
turn the modem off and on?
Hey guys I have some questions im sadly gonna look at putting some upgrades into my acer cause its small but I was wondering when I put the HDD from my acer into my toshiba and back into my acer I get a blue screen any one have an idea?
If the 2nd PC modified the windows system files in any way, you'll have issues.
I'd like to know how (if possible) to make it so that my laptop does not automatically change screen brightness when plugging in or unplugging.
You see, there is a brightness setting that is saved for plugged in and unplugged, and when you change between plugged in and unplugged it reverts the screen brightness to that saved level.
For example if you have it unplugged and you set the screen brightness to 100% then plug it in, it saves the unplugged screen brightness to 100%. Now when you're plugged in you change it to minimal brightness. Later when you unplug and leave the screen brightness will revert back to 100%.
I'd like to disable this automatic screen brightness change.
Thanks for reading.
Which OS are you on? Say you were on Windows 7 there is a setting to change the brightness, but some laptops don't work with these settings.
I have an acer aspire 5315 and when I boot it up with the power adapter plugged in nothing happens. Then when I boot it up using only the battery power, it attempts to boot but this only lasts for a few seconds and shuts off again.any suggestions on what might be wrong?
Remove the battery and try the AC only and see if it boots up?
Also what happen prior to this issue?
Did the laptop shutdown after a crash?
Check AC power that AC power cord and adapter can be replaced from online vendors cost is pretty cheap. I own two ACER/GATEWAY laptop and ACER Netbook both use the same AC adapter. To test your adapter you need what is called a multi- AC/DC tester it has positive and negative leads. If you don't want to get to technical you can replace the AC power adapter.
1. Rule out that the AC power adapter is defective?
2. Rule out that the Battery is defective or just plain dead?
3. If AC power only without battery installed won't start-up the laptop then you know AC power adapter is bad.
4. Check the pin connection using a flashlight to see if the pin inside the laptop is bent? If this is bent or damage then the laptop needs to be repaired. Normally this would be easy to fix most trained service tech would replace the module for the power adapter if such a part exist or they would replace the entire MOBO (motherboard).
Is the laptop running Windows 7 or 8?
Your model AC Adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Power-Supply-19V-3-42a-1-77mm/dp/B001MQ694W if you need to replace it that battery is on this link too. Both are really not to expensive. You should always have a replacement battery and AC power adapter around just in case of problems like this one.
Also if it's not the AC adapter or battery then you're looking at a defective MOBO (motherboard) or defective HDD. This laptop would need to be troubleshooted though to make sure what's the issue could be. But with the above info you should be able to figure most of what the issue could be.
Help!!! yesterday it still working but today,no sounds come out from the speaker,I used headset to test it and it's work, but when I unplug my headset it still no sound,I already try to reboot using safe mode but getting confused.. what can I do???
f.y.I : I already check the sound driver,no question marks appeared.
"I already checked the sound driver, no question marks appeared"... Do you mean no exclamation points like this (!)? If you can hear normal sound from the headset the sound driver is okay. This could be caused by a keyboard setting. Make sure the sound is all the way up and that it is not muted
I have been given a acer extensa 5620 that appears to have been half repaired with acer erecovery management. I cannot find the download for this program anywhere. I have already tried alt F10 and it will not work.
You probably need to purchase a Windows install disk to install Windows fresh
We hve an acer laptop and we bought it last oct.2009 since last mnth until now when we are using it ,it will suddenly shut down.what do u think is the problem of our laptop. please can you help us?thanking you in advance. we are soliciting an opinion from you...your opinions are highly requested and apreciated!
It could be overheating because the CPU thermal paste or pads are dried out or burned. The laptop can be repaired by a qualified service person
Hi I want to upgrade my cpu and my motherboard. I will go with the i5-3570k and maybe the GIGABYTE GA-Z77-D3H. I'm not planning to need SLI/Crossfire and I won't do any extreme overclocking. I have 1 ssd + 2 HD and I will probably add 1-2 hd in some times. I'm also going to buy a 660 ti and change my psu in a 2-3 months.
$356.98 + $8.54 + $18.28 = total: $383.80
This is the less expensive that I have found. So if you think that I could do a better deal please share it with me. I'm from canada so I can't buy on US site.
Thanks and sorry for my poor english
These choices look good...
Hi all got above named laptop but when I turn it on it freezes every time when it get to the black screen where it says start windows normally or other options such as safe mode etc is this hard drive failure thanks in advance

So I purchased the Intel Q9550 about four years ago, and I'm wondering for how long it will hold. I recently purchased a new graphics card: SAPPHIRE RADEON HD7870 2GB PCI-E DVI/HDMI/DP, and I am wondering for how long this old processor can
last before I have to change it to something better. Any ideas?
Thats a question that only you can answer for yourself. If you are still happy with it then it is still good enough for your use.
Personally for Intel CPU's any quad core is still plenty of power for an average user. I might shake my finger at a LGA775 dual core but not a quad.
I have an older Inspiron 531 and I wasn't planning on replacing it anytime soon as it plays all the games and does everything else I need. I was wondering if there is a way to boost its speed and power a little more though. Right now I can play most mmo's on med settings, but I wanted to get a little more out of it. Currently I have a Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103546) processor in the PC. I have an AMD Phenom X4 9150e (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HD9150ODJ4BGH-R) sitting around right now, my question is, can I replace the 4400+ with the 9150e and is the Phenom faster?
Unfortunately, you cannot use the 9150E for your machine. It uses a completely different socket then the 4400+. You will need a board that supports AM2 sockets to use the 9150E.
I know my Aspire won't laptop on Acer turn first mistake was purchasing an Acer Lesson learned Now this morning I turned on the laptop forgot about it and went out for a couple hours When I got home it was in the BIOS set up I had a hard time exiting It wouldn t let me just exit In case my kids touched anything I set the Bios back to previous setting and then it let me exit Now it won t turn on The battery is charged The power light comes on the disc drives does it s thing for a second and the fan kicks in but that s all The fan Acer Aspire laptop won't turn on goes off and all is quiet with power light still on This has happened before but not for a long time and after trying to turn it on a couple of times it would I ve tried pulling the battery and power cord holding the power button for a minute and even pressing the power button for a minute then replacing battery and power cord but still nothing The model is an Acer Aspire Z- Any suggestions Thanks nbsp
How old is this laptop?
Hi, I have an acer aspire laptop that won't turn on. It was working fine unplugged and I went out leaving it on but unplugged to mains power. When I got back I plugged utility in and tried to wake it up. Now I have it plugged in and the power adapter has a green light and the battery light on the laptop is amber. When I press the power button, both these lights go off. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have tried removing all power and holding the power switch for 39-45 seconds. Then plugging back in without battery and turning on- that doesn't work! Please help.
Did you remove the battery when pressing the power button for 45 seconds?
I will post a link to a computer that was purchased for me I have been out of computer gaming for awhile and have recently started playing a game called Dayz It is gaming Upgrading desktop retail for Acer my a modifcation for a game called Arma The computer runs most things that I have played fairly well However Arma is a high demand game which typically gets me under FPS I was thinking of getting rid of the computer and buying a new one or upgrading some parts inside From what I have been reading processor video card ram and power supply would be good places to start I haven t taken the computer apart yet to look inside and see what I can add to the current motherboard Budget is a concern and I don t want to go crazy I don t need to play on ultra settings Upgrading my Acer retail desktop for gaming but normal or high would be nice Any suggestions would be great Here is the PC http www walmart com ip Acer-AM Windows- -Home-Premium-Monitor-Not-I Thanks nbsp
Without knowing your full system specs I would say, you could probably get by with a GPU and power supply upgrade. Do you know what size power supply you have in the machine? I'm also assuming you don't have a dedicated graphics solution, since you have an AMD-A6 CPU.
Model: Inspiron 1545
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4400 @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
I checked the ratings of my components and they came out like this (scale of 1.0 to 7.9):
Memory (RAM): 5.5
Gaming Graphics: 3.4
Primary hard disk: 5.8
What do I need to do to improve the graphics of my laptop? Do I need to get a new laptop?
*Additional information: I live stream on twitch.tv and I want a good set up for gaming preferably on the computer I currently have. Some of the games I try to play have a lot of lag during the streams and I tried everything to reduce it, but I think it is just my graphics card isn't strong enough. If you want to check out my stream here is the link: www.twitch.tv/diirtyxweezy
This laptop is not a great gaming laptop. There's nothing you can upgrade on it. If you are serious about gaming, use a up-gradable desktop PC or be prepared to spend a great deal more money on a gaming laptop
Hi there TechSpot Long time since I last posted but I had a very specific question I m not sure I could get answered elsewhere So my lady friend has been doing all her computing on her Droid RAZR (possible V5 -- replacement GPU y/n?) There's no way to upgrade a video card in a laptop unless it's something from ASUS, MSI, Alienware, (If you're lucky)
But even if you could, the upgrade would probably be anywhere from $200-$600+ maybe even more. Old 7900GTX Go cards are still fetching roughly $100 on Ebay

and I need to know if it will support my processor which is a core 2 duo E6550 and my G card which is a NVIDIA GT220 (old I know but does its job for what I need) and DDR 2 ram cards.
The board seems to be a P4 board. - Intel® Desktop Board - DQ963GS
However there does seem to be support for Core2 processros with BIOS updates. - Found 36 Compatible Processor(s) for Board "DQ965GF"
