Windows Event Log Service Crash

Q: Windows Event Log Service Crash

Hi

I have an Active Directory Domain with Win2008R2 DCs and Win7 clients.
From about 2 months ago some of my clients complain about time of the system which is behind the DC time.
When I nailed the problem I noticed permissions of folder
"C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\wmi\RtBackup" folder is the key to the problem. Group 'System' should have access to this folder and

based on some unknown reasons this permission is deleted.
Because of this permission problem, 'Windows Event Log' service is stopped either.
When I correct the permission and reboot the clients, every thing works fine.

Do you know what is causing this problem? What is changing permissions of RtBackup folder?

Preferred Solution: Windows Event Log Service Crash

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HI I have a functioning ATA-installation, with a single remote gateway monitoring 3 production domain controllers. I configured the gateway server as an event collector and now have the gateway server pulling 4776 events to the Forwarded Events log on
the gateway server. Now when I try to enable the gateway to monitor forwarded events, the gateway crashes pretty much right away ("the service stopped unexpectedly") Am I missing something?

I logged on to my computer as an administrator and my desktop didnt display for about 4 minutes. There was only a black screen with the white mouse arrow on it. When the desktop had loaded a Windows notification
bubble popped up saying:

"Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification
Service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the
system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond."

I don't believe that I have installed any software etc. recently that could have caused this problem to occur. It just randomly happened one day. In sync with this error I am unable to connect to the internet using my 3 mobile modem and my laptop isn't recognising any wireless signals bringing up the message:

"The dependency service or group failed to start"

My laptop is a Philips freevents 12NB5800 which uses vista.

Hi all,

i tried loading the eventvwr.msc file from system32 folder directly as well as from the administrator tools, but i get:

"event log service is unavailable. verify that the service is running."

so i try to start the event log service, from the services.msc program;
whenever i try to start windows event log from services i get the message:

"Windows could not start the windows event log service on local computer.
Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified."

how can i specify the path?
or
how can i resolve the problem?

any help would be appreciated please---thanks

A:HELP need to solve this problem asap - Unable to start event viewer/event log service

Fire up regedit and find this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog

With "Eventlog" highlighted on the left pane, you should be able to see a value called "ImagePath" on the right. ImagePath should be equal to this:

%SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalServiceNetworkRestricted

If you can't see "ImagePath" in that location, or if it's not set to the text above, that's almost certainly your problem. If you're in the habit of using "registry cleaners", that might be the cause.

Hi Bob,

This issue can be caused due to the incorrect permission settings for the administrators group.

I would like to suggest you perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

1. In the "Start" menu, locate "Command Prompt". Right-click and choose "Run as Administrator". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. Type the following commands, then press "Enter" to execute them one by one. Please note the space before the command and its parameter.

takeown /f C:\windows\system32\logfiles\wmi\rtbackup

Hi,

I used a USB memory stick a few days ago, since using that, my laptop is blue screening.
The error reported is "Event 1003, category 102".

I'd like some help if possible please on how I can fix this issue.

I've completed some research and have uploaded the Minidump file which should help.
The file extension was originally "*.dmp", but I had to rename the extension to "*.txt" to allow it to be uploaded.

Thanks guys, appreciate your support.

Okay, I am a pretty technical user, and I am really struggling with this issue, and I wasn't 100% sure which section to post this in. I used to share videos over my network with multiple xboxs and a ps3. I recently installed Norton Internet Security on my system, and after doing so, I was not able to stream videos anymore. I tried changing firewall settings, and permissions and such, but could not get it to work, so I uninstalled NIS from my system. After doing so, the Windows 7 firewall service will not start. If i look at the event log, it gives me Event ID 7024 : The Windows Firewall service terminated with service-specific error Access is denied.. I have run the norton removal tool, and this has not fixed the problem.

A:Windows 7 firewall service will not start. Event ID 7024

I solved the problem! I followed the instructions here.

A:Windows could not connect to the system event notification service

Through your post, I seemed to have missed your actual problem. Is it the system notification service in your title?

What are the particulars of the Event Viewer Error messages about that occurrence?

I have been getting the following errors when I try to log into my account.

The system event notification service service failed the logon an attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist

I created a built-in-administrator and I am able to get into safe mode though not able to run many programs on it such as control panel and start up repair. I looked at my registry and both of my accounts look fine neither of them had a .bak on the end and so I'm not sure how to fix this if my only option is to delete my user account. I've already done a system restore to a couple days before this happened but, I'm still locked out of everything.

Is there anything else I can do that might help?

A:The system event notification service service failed logon ... token does not exist

Google led me to this post as I was researching the problem myself. I encountered the same issue. In this case on a vista32 ultimate box (although I do own an x64 box in case somebody thinks I'm blasphemous posting here ).

I haven't completely fixed the issue yet but I've gotten a bit further so in hopes of helping the next person here are the steps I've taken.

I was able to log in successfully in safe mode (hit F8 while starting up, select safe mode). Once there I went to command prompt (click the start button, type "cmd" [without the quotes] in the search bar and hit enter. From command prompt type services.msc to launch the services control panel. Find the System Event Notification Service, right click, select properties, change it from automatic startup to disabled, apply the change and "OK" out of the dialog box. You can now restart the computer and log in normally.

This isn't really a fix, it's a temporary work-around. SENS is needed for COM+ to respond to things like login and startup events. I've also noticed that my system is very slow right now. My next step is to find a way to generate a new token for SENS and then hopefully I'll be back at 100%. I currently have Dell researching that for me (this happens to be a Dell laptop). If I get a solution short of a reinstall to that one I'll post it too.

Hope this is helpful for someone. Good luck.

What you're looking for will be in one of the following categories:

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)

So, check the drivers
Then check the inside of the case (temperature, voltage, dust, etc).
Then run some hardware stress tests

Try this free video stress test: http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/
Try this free stress test: Free Software - GIMPS

Quote:
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.

Then try replacing parts.
Then look up the versions of your BIOS to see what changes were done.

A:Windows 7 SP1 (Service Pack 1) won,t install properly and crash

There is no difference between Professional and Ultimate in terms of performance - they are exactly the same OS. So use the Professional license you already own for the life of that machine to do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Use the official installation media with SP1 provided in Steps 1 and 2 and not a pre-SP1 installer. Follow the steps and stick with the tools and methods and you will have a perfect install to the exact extent you do.

Hi all and thnaks for taking time to look at this thread.

Yesterday I installed service pack 2 on my XP Home machine. Halfway through the installation I got the following message:

Migrate.exe - Entry point can not be found in (then here was the name of a dll that I have sadly forgotten).

I pressed cancel, this was the only option and then the message reappared. I did this many times until I finally pressed reset on my PC.

My PC then restared but freezes in the WIndows XP screen where that blue status bar is to show its loading. When I try safe mode or last know good configiration then it also freezes.

Im pretty sure that I will have to reinstall everything but is there any way of getting my data from the PC?

Many thanks again

Hello,

I have 1 laptop Satellite L750, and windows service audio crash randomly.
I have two windows 7 install, reinstall all sound driver repeatedly, but same problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

A:Satellite L750 - Windows 7 audio service crash randomly

For me this issue looks more like Microsoft Windows system issue (probably sound driver) and therefore I recommend you to check the MS support community for possible solutions.

I found this interesting post in the MS forum:
[Windows Audio Related Crashes|http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-pictures/windows-audio-related-crashes/49a3634b-6dfe-4208-9c22-c8be6242b2ac]

According to the 2nd post, the sound driver reinstallation should fix such issues.
In case this workaround would not fix the sound audio problems, I recommend roll back the system to the early point before this issue started to occur.

In worst case you would need to recover the notebook using recovery disk but I guess you should try the workarounds recommended by MS

Hi all,

Once a day the TPCH Service crashes. When this happens my Bluetooth devices (mouse, keyboard) are not available anymore. When I restart the laptop, all is OK again.

The error in the log is (in Dutch):

De TPCH Service-service is gestopt met de volgende foutcode:
CoInitialize is niet aangeroepen.

In English:
The TPCH Service-service has stopped working:
CoInitialize has not been called.

Anyone have a solution for this problem? I really appreciate any help.

Many thanks in advance,
Fred

Additional info:

This afternoon the problem occured again. Now it looks like it is not related to the TPCH Service because the error in the System log did not appear.

There is only a warning a time-out occured on BTHUSB.
Restarting the BTHSERV service solved the issue.

A:Windows failed to conect to " system event notification service"

This seems to be a common problem, I am now also experiencing the same.
I have Win 7 Home Premium 64. Did chkdsk /r, defragged, tried sfc/scannow scanned for viruses and even tried reseting winsock.
My aero themes are greyed out, when trying to fix it with MS fixit it errors out.
It takes a long time to boot and then says "failed to connect to System event notification service"

One search on google will show this is a major problem, so why does MS not come out with a fix.
This seems to be the biggest frustration with Win 7 compared to XP, lack of support from MS.

Nothing unusual happened last time I used my PC. No installation or updates that I am aware of.

The computer cannot shut down properly now either, it just hangs after the desktop icons are gone. I am forced to hard shutdown.

Ever since installing IE7, I get periodic crashes in IE, and in the application log it's always:

Event ID: 1000

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.5730.11, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x00031c6b.

The fault address changes, and once I saw one for module mshtmled.dll, but it's usually ntdll.dll that is flagged.

Anyone have any words of wisdom on this issue?

thanks.

Joey

A:Vaio event Service gone.

The VAIO factory installed apps would not have carried over without an in-place upgrade.

Otherwise they need to be reinstalled. Check the Support Downloads page for your model on Sony's Website, any disks that came with the Sony, or call Sony Tech support to inquire.

If you cannot do without them, then see if you can still activate the Vista recovery partition if it wasn't deleted/formatted, perhaps by tapping the F-key given for recovery on first boot screen.

Sony can also provide you with the Vista recovery disks, so that you can restore to factory condition, remove the bloatware you don't want, clean it up to remove corruption making sure uninstalled software is removed in Software keys of second and third registry hives, and using these tips: http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Crapwa...ndows-Computer especially CCleaner and defragging.

Now you can do an in-place Win7 Upgrade that will carry over your preferred apps while leaving out the Sony bloatware.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

3 minidumps crash with memory corruption, two have a bugcheck of 7F, one has a bugcheck of D1.

1 minidump crashes at tdi.sys. It has a bugcheck of D1.

I believe your problem is caused by either faulty ram or a faulty/underpowered psu.

0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common cause (many dozen KB articles exist for this error referencing specific hardware failures) and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.

0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.

Go HERE and follow the instructions for testing your ram.

Apparently you are not having BSODs, but system reboots at its own. Is it right?

You can see that there are some errors related to heat/thermal zone. So check the system heat. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Check the PSU too. Make it sure that it is supplying adequate power to run the machine properly .... specilayy when it consumes more power ... say during gameplay.

Also, you have a Beta version of display driver installed.
Download and install Driver Fusion.
Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
If it says the the free version of Driver Fusion cannot remove all the elements, stop there and follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Boot normally now. Apply the latest version of nVidia display driver.
You may download it directly, from our forum link Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers Windows 7; or you may opt for the Option 2 of Drivers- Download NVIDIA Drivers for ?Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products? (it requires java installed).
Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.
When all done, stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) is known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems - but we don't have a bunch of experience with it on Vista systems. I'd suggest uninstalling it TEMPORARILY, and using this free tool to ensure that the sptd.sys driver is removed from your system: DuplexSecure - FAQ

Other than the above, I'm at a loss to explain your crashes. If you'd like to find out more about it, please try the procedure listed here: Generating a memory dump for a crashing process - Windows 7 Forums

Heya!
Right... Whenever i start my computer up it loads perfectly to the desktop and then explorer decides to shut down.
I restart this in task manager but it just shuts down again.
I think i might've found the shell extension that is making it do this.
Opnmikbc.dll
Problem is i can't get rid of it as it is running.
I try to "delete on restart" in HJT but it pops back up again.
Also tried disabling it in Shellexview but it tells me it failed to delete and/or i can't delete drivers.

My dual boot XP32/54 machine's event logger service will not start on the x64 system (works fine on the 32 bit version). You can't start the service, and get Error 2 or something like that. Likewise, when you try to view the logs with event viewer, it says the interface is not valid. Trying to view the logs with a shareware program reveals the logs to be empty. A 1 hour+ Google search reveals no real help on restoring the event logger service, just hints of problems with the registery.

Any suggestions or inputs on diagnostics or fixes appreciated!

A:WinXPx64 Event Logger Service is a no go

Here is a more detailed description for everyone

Drilling down through MyComputer to the Error Reporting window shows error reporting as enabled, and both Windows and Programs checked.

Deleting the existing log files had no impact on the problem.

In Component Services, clicking the START button for Event Log generates the error message "Could not start the Event Log service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."

Trying to read the logs via the Event Viewer generates the error message "Unable to complete the operation on 'Application'. The interface is unknown." In the Event Viewer on the right pane, it says "There are no items to show in this view". This is true for all the logs. The logs are clearly visible when you look for them in Windows Explorer.

Note that this is a dual boot machine, and the XP32 system does not have this problem. Right now it is a minor annoyance in that it is preventng a newly installed program from running, plus I'd like to know why the service will not start and run. If it is a virus, it is a very obscure one. I have the x64 system protected by Avast, and then run Kaspersky on both partitions from the XP32 system, so I don't think that someone has taken the time to write a 64 bit virus that disables the Event Viewer, but I guess you can never tell.

Hi.
After uninstalling a trial version of "Acrobat" pre-loaded on my laptop I receive a message "Windows could not connect to the system event notification service".
System event log entry is the same as thread Vista Event ID: 10 WMI ; which is a closed thread without "detailed" steps to resolve problem, merely stating "Deleted contents of Repostory & rebooted".
Can anyone please help further.
Many thanks.

A:System Event Notification Service

I'm unsure if this is the correct thing to do - but here's how to clear the repository (originally found at this link: Repairing and re-registering the WMI ):

Open an elevated (run as Administrator) Command Prompt and type
"net stop winmgmt" (without quotes) and press Enter.
Leave this window open as you'll reuse it again later.

Open Windows Explorer, navigate to %windir%\System32\Wbem\Repository (%windir% is usually C:\Windows ). Rename the Repository folder to Repository_OLD
Then close Windows Explorer

Go back to the elevated Command Prompt and type:
"net start winmgmt" (without the quotes) and press Enter

Then type "exit" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Then close the elevated Command Prompt window and see if that fixed things.

It looks like it might be an important service based on a quick look on google. Open an elevated command prompt and run "SFC /scannow". It will detect any system file errors and attempt to repair them. If it can't repair them, do a repair install.

I am observing the following entry in my Windows XP Home SP3 event log:

The KMNF service was successfully sent a start control.
Source: Service Control Manager

I have looked and looked in Google, Bing, etc. but cannot identify this service. In fact, there is not a single reference in Google to any software program or service that goes by this acronym! How do I go about finding out more about why I have a start control on a service I cannot identify (KMNF or anything close to it is not listed as a service in the MMC Servics Console).

Looking at the registry it appears that KMNF is being called in HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/KMNF. It runs a program in /Documents and.../Local Settings/Temp/C6.tmp

What could this be?

Thanks in advance.

A:Event Log reports unknown service

a search for c6.tmp shows it associated with a trojan. This is not 100% but some very bad malware can create temp files to hide in. You should run malwarebytes and perhaps back up your important files to a flash drive. If you can't get to or download malwarebyteshttp://www.malwarebytes.org/and superantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/That can be a clue too.Install and run them and if they find any trojans, assume there are more and go to the "Am I infected" forum and read the pinned items. Both are great programs but there are no single programs that can find and clean completely and repair damage too. Trojans are sometimes the tip of the iceberg of hidden rootkits. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/

Greetings,

I am just trying to hammer out the issues I find in event viewer. Here is one of them:

Event ID: 3095
This computer is configured as a member of a workgroup, not as a member of a domain. The Netlogon service does not need to run in this configuration.

I am, indeed, a part of a workgroup and NOT a domain. What could the Netlogon service do for me as apart of a workgroup as opposed to a domain?
This took place while I was sitting in front of the computer but I have no idea what would cause this error. Any ideas?

A:Event Viewer - Netlogon service error

It may be configured to start automatically in Services, and can't start and complains. If it is not running and you have no problems, then just keep it from trying to start in the first place.

Go to Start, Run, services.msc and scroll down to the Net Logon service, right click, Properties, set Startup type to manual or disabled, OK.

When using password login to a Maintenance account I created, it comes up with the same error. This is an administrator account. When using fingerprint login to this account, it works, but the error message comes up in a popup when I first see my desktop, and then I'm logged off.

This was new yesterday, and I don't have the Vista Business disk, because it was preinstalled by PowerPlay Direct Ltd. If anyone has any ideas, please email me on [email protected] Thanks.

Hi All I m having a problem with my wireless networking on XP whereby no wireless networks can be found Basically it says quot one or more wireless networks will start not service error Event - Solved: log 126 are in range quot but when i click the bubble it shows no networks at all even when i refresh Normally it Solved: Event log service will not start - error 126 shows my home network access point about metres away along with around - other networks from various neighbours The issue is on the desktop PC not the access point as the laptop i m typing this from is connecting fine After spending many hours trying everything I can find on forums related to this issue and ruling out solutions one by one i ve narrowed it down to a probable specific issue with something called the quot event Log Service quot From browsing forums I think fixing this issue will fix my problem - either way it s definately giving an error message that sounds not nice Under Computer Management - Services The Event Log is set to Automatic but is not running I try to start it it gives the following error quot Could not start the Event Log Service on Local Computer Error The specified module cannot be found quot A similar error occurs with something called quot Task Scheduler quot in the same place - except this time the second part is quot Error The interface is unknown quot Does anyone have any ideas re how to reinstall these components or otherwise fix this computer I do not want to have to reinstall windows etc As I mentioned tried finding an existing solution online but nothing works - I have tried all the obvious things like removing and reinstalling the wireless network driver etc nbsp

I have tried each and every one of the solutions on the forums and over here All Service to not Notification System connect Could the Event my drivers are up to date double checked I rolled back and uninstalled all updates Did sfc scannow three times and they passed without Could not connect to the System Event Notification Service any integrity violations I've tried netsh winsock reset as well The aero is gone greyed out plus I can't select any other theme and whenever I start up the computer it displays the message quot Could not connect to a Windows service quot This started happening about months ago when my laptop ran out of battery in hibernate mode It didn't resume so I had to press the power button again and then it took about minutes to boot with nothing but a black screen and the mouse there The audio service isn't running every time I boot up I have to right click and run troubleshooter to start it Does anyone have ANY idea what might be causing this How do I fix it I've uninstalled all the software that I installed before the error occured as well I'm using Windows Ultimate on a Sony Vaio VGN-NW GF Intel Duo core T and the ATI Radeon HD Graphics card

A:Could not connect to the System Event Notification Service

I would try a Repair Install as a last resort before running Vaio Factory Recovery from its partition - make the backup disks first as a secondary backup method.

However most tech enthusiasts want the better performance of a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 using the Product Key on COA sticker. Everything you need is in the tutorial.

2 days ago my laptop started acting funnily and stopped doing things like playing dvds and there appeared to be some changes to the screen and tool bars and message boxes.
The error message popped up in the bottom right-hand corner= "System Event Notification Service is not working, as an administrative user you can review the system event log".
Would really appreciate any tips on how to fix this as I know NOTHING about computers. Its is a sony vaio laptop, model PCG-7134M.
Thanks so much, look forward to hearing everyone's ideas asap! xxx

We've had multiple computers on our network all having the reported error in event viewer -
EventID: 7023

The SanctuaryExec service terminated with the following error:
The requested operation is successful. Changes will not be effective until the system is rebooted.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

This fault stopped our users from printing. When attempting to print a printer test page the error access denied appeared.

I couldn't find any articles online, does anyone have any ideas?

A:Bonjour Service, Event 100 Application Error

I'm pretty sure this is a Windows firewall conflict. Since updating iTunes to iTunes 11 the TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP 123 and 5353 weren't showing as being open.

Quick tidy up of a few rules in windows firewall appears to have solved this. At least fingers crossed

Hi there.  I have a Lenovo SL500 with XP Pro.  For quite a while, the laptop would take anywhere from 6 to 8 minutes to boot up completely.  I did all sorts of diagnostics, cleaning, antivirus, memory tests and replaced the hard drive with an sshd hoping that would help solve some of the boot time issues.

Long story short, I decided to check the event viewer for any possible issues and noted a few errors that would occur at startup.  I was able to fix all of the errors except one and now my boot up time is down to about 2 1/2 minutes.

I can't figure this one out:

The SC0CLPT service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the device specified.

How can I determine what device the system can't find so I can clear this error?

Thanks in advance.
Alex

If you want my advice, which doesn't neccessarily chime with the other guys here:

In the short term... Using, or used anything by Sharp? If so, sounds like a reinstall/repair of the program might help.
Otherwise, I would look in Administrative tools/services, to see if such entry exists and set to disable.

Copy the following into notepad and save with ".bat" as the file extention.

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
devmgmt.msc

Double click. When device manager  opens, select the view menu item, show hidden files. Extend 'non plug and play. See anything similar?

I get the error: Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service.
Regular users are unable to log on to the machine but Administrators are. The Event Viewer does not have any useful information. I performed a system restore to a previously working day but the error came back eventually. I have ran the command netsh winsock
reset many times to no avail. When I log in to the machine as Admin I can see that the service is started and it is set to Automatic yet the error persists. This has occurred on 2 Dell machines of different models. I had to completely reinstall the first one
to get the user back working but this is not really a solution.

Thanks

My HP with Windows 7 suddenly gives me the following error message on startup: "Failed to connect to a Windows service: Could not connect to System Event Notification Service." Among other things, this prevents me from connecting to my wireless network, so I can't get on-line. . Rebooting doesn't help. And the problem occurs regardless of whether I sign on as administrator or as general user.

More: I can't access the Windows Help & Support pages. And I'm told to "see System Events log" for details, but when I try, it says "Event Log Service is unavailable."

I have tried netsh winsock reset but it doesnt help

Please help!

A:Could not connect to System Event Notification Service

Same problem exactly. Tried disabling Kaspersky (internet security 2011) and restarting, but no change. System's been buggy all along, so this just seems like the natural progression of things... But no network connection is pretty hard to work around!

For me this started after i interrupted a shut down by closing the laptop - which puts it into hibernation mid-shut down... Which may or may not be a contributing factor.

A:Application crash on launch; Event ID 1000, Kernelbase.dll

I understand I could try replacing Kernelbase.dll, identified as the faulting module, with a new copy. But I don't think the file is corrupt. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. And I haven't found any other applications to have problems.

I'm just not sure what might have changed since I last started the application in question. Unfortunately, I have restore points disabled on my machine, so I cannot simply go back in time.

What can I do to resolve this problem? Thanks!

The same thing happens to me quite oftenly, and only when I play Wolfenstein 09. It really heats up my GPU and most of the time my PC ends crashing in a BSOD. I don't know what this game does to stress the computer that hard, no other game does it. I do hope they release a patch for it, to make it playable. It's a pity really. I even bought an additional case cooler, but not even that helped in the end

These were caused byt sbapifs.sys. Sbapifs.sys is related to SBAPIFS Active Protection Driver. Mfr sunbelt

Simply, you should un-install it.

You also have a hardware problem but that may simply be becasue of the sbapifs.

Has anyone seen this error. MS has a wonderful description, "an internal error has occurred". We rebooted this server on Friday and it worked until this morning (Monday) and is back to reporting failure to find the counters in remote Perfmon. The Performance Logs and Alerts service is set to manual and when I attempt to start it, I get the error and the event log is Event 2003 (0x7D23).

This is a production server that cannot just be rebooted regularly.

TIA for any help!
