I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello I use Outlook to manage my mails I have different mailadresses from different hosters Until now I used pop to retrieve my Mail but now I want to synchronize my Mails between the Desktop-PC Win and the Tablet Surface RT Therefore I wanted to use my Outlook com-adress but actually this doesn't work as easy as I had expected The Problem is that I don't want to have severals In-Boxes Out-Boxes etc for the different Mail-Accounts With Pop I could receive all my mails in one single pst-File As far - 2013 via Sync Outlook Outlook.com as I know this is not possible with the ost-File which is saved with the creation of a Exchange ActiveSync Account And if I would accept two In-Boxes etc so that I receive my Mails with the old Settings and move the Mails into the Outlook com-Account this also doenst work because it isn't possible to move Mails from my pst- to my ost-File The other way around it works Another possibility would be to forward the Mails to the outlook com-Account but then I wouldn't be able to send Mails from the different Accounts within Outlook So does anybody know a Solution for my Problem I'll try to sum up what I want to do receive and send Mails from different hosters with Outlook use my Outlook com-Account to sync my mails calender and contactsuse as little as possible In-Boxes Out-Boxes etc if necessary - moving Mails from one Account to the Outlook com-account to synchronize I hope someone can help me

I have recently installed Office Professional Plus 2016 (the full package, with nothing left out, as well as Outlook 2016). However, I recently discovered that Outlook 2016 doesn't support the Business Contact Manager addin.

So, can I install only Outlook 2013 (and BCM) alongside Office 2016, without removing/breaking either? Does anyone else have this setup working without issues?

Thanks!

Hi,

I've read in many forums about Outlook/Office365 using a tremendous amount of bandwidth. I have an office with 10 heavy outlook users, half being delegates of the bosses that have HUGE mailboxes (~15GB) and that refuse to archive emails.

They have a 30M internet connection that seemingly is not enough and constantly makes their Outlooks "hang" when searching for delegated contacts or just sending and replying to emails with big attachments etc.

I just want to confirm that this is seemingly is the case and that it's nothing else weird. Does it sound right to you guys? I told them to get the max bandwidth they can get there, which is 50MB but they are at the point where they are grumpy and don't believe my advice to upgrade their connection.

Thanks,

K

I was using Outlook 2007 calendar and sync with google in my old computer. It worked fine. I did not successfully backup the outlook. Now, I am suing a new computer with vista. I am trying to sync google calendar with my outlook. It always pops this message out error:2016. I checked the error message online. It reads, "This error displays if you try to sync your events before signing up for Google Calendar. Please log in to Google Calendar at least once before using Google Calendar Sync." However, I tried logging in before I am doing sync, but it is still not working. Same error message pops up, always.

I have laptops in two different countries and keep an archive of messages on each.
In Windows Live Mail it was easy to export messages to a USB stick, carry it with me and import to the other laptop.
But in Outlook I can't find a simple equivalent although I understand there may be 3rd-party software.
Is there a best solution?
Any advice and experience much appreciated, thanks.

Hey all,

So my outlook has been working fine until lately. Here is the problem, if I receive an email while outlook is open it won't show up in my inbox. Even if I do a manual send/receive command it won't appear. In fact it doesn't say "Syncing inbox" at the bottom. I can get it to sync if I change folders, or if I open and close outlook. I have tried changing multiple settings in Send/Receive Groups and general settings and nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas?

With no way of knowing what you actually tried, in what order, and if all is back to where it was, all I can really suggest is that you remove the account info from Outlook, and create a new account. Working or not, at that point, please let us know.

I can't believe I can't find the answer to this dilemma, which I've tried to solve for years. Hoping someone might have some insights. I have my own business, and keep a Contacts table in Access 2013. I also have a Contacts folder in Outlook 2013 that I want to keep in sync with my database. Sometimes changes are made in Outlook (or using GSyncit to sync with Google on my phone or tablet) and sometimes when entering service calls in Access. When I go to created a "linked table" from Outlook to Access, I get a separate table of contacts that will not sync with my existing table. Every week, I have to literally export Access data to an Excel CSV and import into Outlook, then go through name by name to choose the latest entry to keep. Ridiculous! I've googled and googled, and I have found no joy. Any ideas??

I am creating a custom contact form in Outlook 2013. After choosing the contact form from the standard library, Under the developers tab i clicked Design this form and then i added my custom fields using the control toolbook and field choser. There were a couple of fields that i wanted that i had to add in user-defined fields. One of those is a social security number field. How do i format this field so that when i type in 123456789 it looks like this 123-45-6789? Also, After i complete this, If click publish, will it be able on every contact form i open from now on? or do i have to do more steps to get it to be on every form? One more question. How do i get this form to be the default contact form? It's is now pg 2, which i have renamed Client Contacts.

A widespread problem? My Outlook 2016 Mail is performing normally in Windows 10 and syncing mail with my phone. However...I cannot sync my calendar or contacts into my Lumia 735. I get hints (nothing specific) from online searching that since my service provider (Time Warner) doesn't use MS Exchange, that the syncing can't be done. Can anyone verify that?
My mail is transferred cleanly, but contacts and calendar won't come over to the phone.
Any ideas about a solution?

I have to cancel the task and manually send/receive everytime..I can't do that all day! Any advice on how to fix this would be great..

Had this problem with a client computer. I had to turn off synchronization altogether. But they were ok with clicking send/receive when needed.

Have you tried adjusting the time window + or - to see if that helps?

Ultimately I think it's probably the volume of mail you have on the server that's bogging down the sync process.

Hi, I have my own domain's email which uses Outlook itself.
I can login via Live.com or Outlook.com and it works fine but I am unable to set it up via Outlook 2016.

Microsoft has provided me the following mail configuration in the Outlook.com settings:
Server name: pop-mail.live.com
Port: 995
Encryption method: SSL

Server name: smtp-mail.live.com
Port: 587
Encryption method: TLS

But when I use this I get the following error:

Can you clarify which Outlook you mean for your domains email? Do you mean the Outlook.com webmail interface as a send-and-receive account / Windows Live Custom Domain account? Or directly to your domains mailbox from the Office Outlook desktop application?

In your second screenshot it looks like you are using your own domain username and password with the Outlook.com mailserver settings. The Outlook.com mailserver will obviously reject that unless you have previously set it up as a Windows Live Custom Domain before Microsoft discontinued that service.

If you are using a Windows Live Custom Domain, according to this article it should still be compatible with Outlook.com Preview.

Q. I have a custom domain configured with Outlook.com. Will I be able to keep it?
A. Yes, if you have a custom domain configured on Outlook.com today, it will continue to work after this update.

I can login via Live.com or Outlook.com and it works fine but I am unable to set it up via Outlook 2016. Microsoft has provided me the following mail configuration in the Outlook.com settings:

Server name: pop-mail.live.com
Port: 995
Encryption method: SSL

Server name: smtp-mail.live.com
Port: 587
Encryption method: TLS

Those settings are to send and receive email from the Outlook.com account through POP/SMTP. Is there a particular reason why you want to use POP/SMTP? If not, to connect Office Outlook 2016 to the Outlook.com Preview mail account (which is what it shows as in your screenshot), set it up as an Exchange account (which may need to be set up manually if you're using your own domain email address as the Microsoft Account login. I'm not sure how it handles Two-Step Authentication as I haven't tried it with a Preview Account, but if you have Two-Step Authentication on for your Outlook.com account and it doesn't prompt you for the second factor, you may need to setup/use an app password as the password, instead of the actual Outlook.com account password.

If for some reason you do have to use POP/IMAP/SMTP, I wonder whether substituting the 'live.com' with 'outlook.com' in the above settings would work instead. EG: pop-mail.outlook.com / smtp-mail.outlook.com

I have a desktop Pc and a laptop Pc with Office 2013. I want to export the contacts fra from the desktop to the laptop and when I export to a csv file on the desktop the e-mail adresses is missing in the file. They are not in the csv file. When I import it on the laptop names, phonenumbers, adresses etc. is ok but no e-mail adresses.

I think it is strange and I have not experienced it with Outlook 2010??

Peter

I imported the backup.pst and it did the trick.

A:Export Contacts from Outlook 2013 to Outlook 2013 on another Pc?

when exporting as a csv file you have to map custom fields first and take the email 1 address and move it into the other side for the addresses to get in there (from left to right) or the email addresses will not go correctly into the computer you want to do it to. If you back it up with *.pst then everything goes in much easiwer

A:Outlook 2010 e-mail account won't sync to Outlook.pst file

I figured this out.  When I reconfigured my e-mail account in Outlook, I used IMAP settings instead of POP3.  This was not how I did it before.  IMAP works great if one wants to keep all e-mail out on the server and access it from various devices.  That isn't what I do.  I changed the profile to POP3 and the poblem was solved.  Still don't know why it initially failed two nights ago, though.

I am so confused about where outlook 2013 keeps things.

I have installed Outlook 2013 and would like to import my contacts from my outlook 2007 in another computer. I have already prepared the contacts.pst file from outlook 2007 and made it available in my public folders. I then imported the .pst file into Outlook 2013 via network. However the contacts shows up as a separate contact list rather than integrated into the outlook 2013 address book . How to correct it?

I must have got the process wrong.

OK. I found the imported contacts in a separate list inside the address book. There are 2 lists one is "In This computer" the other is just "contacts" . How do I make the "contacts "list as the default so I get an address book when I click on 'To" ?

Have installed Outlook and created a first email account as pop manual setup Going to import from a saved pst from Outlook - a file that contained organized sections of contacts info as well as emails address book listings etc - asked whether to quot import items to the current folder quot a Personal Folder OR the other radio restore Outlook Outlook from pst 2013 2000 button choice being to import to the email address which just was set up where I guess new Outlook 2013 restore from Outlook 2000 pst pst files are stored Attempted to import the backup pst to the quot current folder quot - but after it loaded it could not be viewed anywhere or found within the folder structure of Windows Could not determine if it simply overwrote itself or why anyone would want to do this if it s the case So next I went for the other choice and imported to the email address location and most everything now seems to show beneath it on the leftside pane - Except for all my prior contacts which only seem to show under quot Addresses quot that when opened seem to reference through an open search box quot Contact - quot Q in the future can the location of these pst files be changed and how where like if myemail is done away with Please note that I have about more email accounts to load Q how to bring up organize my contacts back in order Q is there no way to import my pst to another location that is more generic like quot Personal Folders quot if there is such as thing in Outlook Backup seems not so straightforward with this newer edition at all Q I see where I can create a backup but understand too that other files will be left out of the pst such as an os contacts calendars addresses file Can that operating location simply be copied in its entirety and pasted back in the event of recovery or must it be backed up and imported I guess there is a way to make them both pst files but don t know if I want to attempt this nbsp

I am still using Outlook Express on a Win XP laptop but I have now bought a new Win 8.1 laptop and installed Outlook 2013 (which is working OK)

I am looking for the most fool proof way of moving literally tens of thousands of emails onto the new machine. This needs to be done with total 100% accuracy because these emails are fundamental to my business and go back to the last century! Some may be needed as evidence in court so accuracy is extremely important

Obviously I will keep the old machine just in case ...

In total there is at least 10Gb of data to transfer and about 2,000 email addresses

In various places it says to close down Outlook 2013 prior to restoring from a .pst. To simply copy and paste the .pst file into the proper location which is often listed as an email address.

Why is this, and does restoring in this way really apply when restoring Outlook 2013 from earlier versions of Outlook?

I recently imported a .pst file from Outlook 2000 into 2013 (all emails/contacts) and to my amazement, the source 398 MB .pst ballooned to over 1 GB.

Does importing the .pst ( as opposed to copying and pasting while Outlook 2013 is closed) cause such great multiplications in file size of the .pst?

A:Outlook 2013 - restoring from .pst & closing Outlook

It is always good to use the Import option if you want to Import the .pst files from a very older version of Outlook. Outlook 2003 and later versions use a different file format compared to earlier versions of Outlook. That could be the reason why the file size has increased.

Hi there Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection or other Network Mail Server connection such 2013 2013 set to --OUTLOOK connection Internet Office requires up as Exchange you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK Outlook requires and there is no option unlike in Outlook to disable it by unchecking a box a TEST email to be sent and working before your account s can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road have purchased Office and want to set it up Office 2013 --OUTLOOK 2013 requires Internet connection to set up instead of having to wait Office 2013 --OUTLOOK 2013 requires Internet connection to set up until they get home Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance The box I've shown here is from Outlook In Outlook the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it BTW I prefer and use Office myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office Cheers jimbo

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

HI Guys, tried uninstalling office 2010 to open Outlook 2013 when I got the two following errors:

1: The resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft exchange. Contact your email administrator for assistance.

2: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Your Microsoft exchange administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance.
Does anyone know what these two errors are referring to and how I can fix it so I can start using Outlook 2013?

Many thanks.

I have synced outlook.com with my desktop outlook 2013. In my outlook 2013 I have archive folders set up so when a email comes in via outlook 2013 I drop it into the correct archive folder. I have noticed that these emails disappear from outlook.com and wonder where they are stored on outlook.com and is there a way to retrieve them via outlook.com. Note: I have not set up any archive folders on outlook.com.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi,

They might be getting downloaded to your computer since you synced the two together and then deleted off your Outlook account. I haven't done that with any accounts in a while, because I just didn't want all that stuff taking up space on my hard drive. I could be wrong, but it seems a possibility.

Maybe Samuria or someone will have another idea of what's happening. Good luck!

Hi there Whoever designed the base colors for Office must have been totally STONE DEAF and COLOR BLIND at the same time I can't believe that comments weren't made before this stuff was allowed out of the door There's almost no possibilities to customize the backgrounds or colors and on a large monitor the base white looks really HIDEOUS -- you need a good pair of Sunglasses while working with it The Outlook 2013 (Office De-Uglify Help 2013) to only other choice is some type of Grey shown in screenshot which looks very similar to quot The Fruit Company's Window colour scheme Still looks Outlook 2013 (Office 2013) Help to De-Uglify hideous and that Blue Outlook also displays the unread message titles in the most sickly blue can't seem to change it I've ever seen Before I remove this POS from my computer is there anyway to De-Uglify or customize like I had in Office with the Black background I don't like it opening with a prompt screen before I get the base screen often needs another TWO keyboard strokes -- example for EXCEL shown -- I should be able to open it in a Window with the menus just like like Office It means I now have to make a load of extra keyboard strokes before I actually get a workbook screen to start getting my work done I don't want the sign in reminders either -- I don't intend to use Cloud services etc Cheers jimbo

"Patch Tuesday" broke our install of Outlook 365. It was working fine on Monday and on Tuesday it was hanging on "Processing." So I restored back to the last restore point before the update and it worked great after that. Yesterday it re-installed the updates, and again Outlook didn't load. Restoring again today "fixed" it. Now it wants to update again, so I will disable updates until the problem is fixed. I don't know which particular "patch" is causing the problem; there were about 22 of them that installed.

I have just installed Outlook 2016. I have connected it to my isp's webmail which is IMAP. It has brought all the relevant emails in to Outlook but has left them on the server. The whole reason I installed Outlook was to clear the server. If I delete them from the server to Trash it synchronizes in my Outlook. Is there a solution?

Hi, I had to carry out a factory resect on my PC, before doing this I backed up my PST files ( running Outlook 2013), I had three, of which I now know, two are OST files. When I restored the PC, I found out windows 7 did not support the latest edition of Outlook, I downloaded Windows 10

What I didn't realise I was making directories and folders to store my e-mails on the server and also I believe my address book is stored there, I have an 800M, OST folder which I backed up. My question, how do I restore this OST file or can I recover from the server.

My PST file was easily recovered which I have made as my default.

A:Outlook 2016

The OST is the offline backup of the server, so if you can get your stuff from the live server still I would do that to let outlook rebuild its new database at this point. To use the OST you need to convert it to a PST with a 3rd party program like OST to PST Converter Tool to Convert Exchange OST to Outlook PST File

This problem has plagued be for a while but I am just now getting around to trying to solve it.

Outlook 2016 Win7.

When I receive some emails, mostly from advertisements from such as but not limited to Amazon, there are white boxes containing little red x's instead of pictures. This does not happen when I read them on my Iphone or Ipad. There the pictures appear but never in either of my two Win machines. Not only do the x's appear in Outlook but also in Cox's webmail.

I have applied the registry adjustment described in KB 2779191 but that did not correct the problem. Here is the patch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
DWORD: Send Pictures With Document
Value: 1

This doesn't bother me too much for I am seldom interested in such emails but I find them very annoying.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

But when I go to my contacts list (setup in business card display) it always defaults to my Hotmail contacts. This is annoying as the contacts I want to view first is my POP3 contacts. I cannot see how to change it?

Also the Hotmail acc (which outlook has setup as an exchange acc is constantly saying 'updating address book' at the bottom. Can I fix / stop this?

Thanks

In Outlook, go to the People Icon on the Left panel at the bottom so Contacts is showing. Then on the Toolbar go to the View tab and Folder Pane and make sure it is set to Normal. On the Left Folder Pane should be a list of your Mail boxes. Hotmail will be at the top. Drag Your Main POP3 mailbox to the top, or you can right click it and choose Move UP.

Run a Repair option.
Go to Programs and Features > scroll to Microsoft Office 2013 > right click at it > click Change > click Repair........

I can copy some of them in batches of 400 into the relevant folders but when I copy more than 500 at a time I get an error, see attachment.

Each email is a msg file....

is there another way to import the messages or create a PST file another way ?

have you spoken to your work IT dept.
As this is a work computer , it maybe setup with various security polices

Do you also have permission to copy work material onto a home PC - this is very unusual as most companies would NOT want there information compromised on a non-work PC

A:Outlook 2013

Outlook 2007 and later versions, by default, each email account will prompt Outlook to create a new file and hence, a different inbox.

You can consolidate all of your accounts to one account to resolve this.

1) Type the following in the search box: folder: (Inbox) received: (this week)

2) Press Ctr+Alt+A

3) Press Enter

What exactly do you mean by the add-in tab? Add-In Toolbar perhaps. Do you mean Add-in under the File Options section in the main menu? What does using this tab allow you to accomplish? I had some spare time and did some research, and I hate to go into control panel > mail > and then delete the current profile.
This allowed me to add my accounts as if it was first instaill

I am using Win 8 64 Bit. Recently when I click on a link (in outlook) it takes me to a weird IE screen with the location in black at the bottom of the page. It does not have my menu or option bar and it shows the desktop when I go to upper left corner. If I click on the desktop icon it takes me to a normal IE page with all my add-on and features. If I click on the icon on the start menu it goes to the weird IE page. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but to no avail.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Bill

A:Outlook Pro Plus 2013 and IE 10

Hi there and welcome to Eightforums.

The weird IE screen you are describing is in fact not a weird IE screen . It is the IE APP, not the IE Desktop version. So what happens is that, whenever you click on a link in Outlook, it starts in the IE APP instead of the IE Desktop version.

You can change the behavior of Windows, concerning links, as following.

Go to the desktop and open IE from the desktop.Go to Internet Options.Go to the tab Programs. You can change the upper selections the way you want IE to behave.

Goodluck with it!!

Rover

When I close Outlook I get a message saying there are items in my Outbox (see attached). There are NO messages in my outbox. Have not been able to resolve. Hope someone can help. Thank you.

A:Outlook 2013

Hey bud...you might want to check your attachments a little bit better...your email (one of them at least) is plainly visible.

As for your issue: It's not with your "outbox" but rather your "sent" box. You can clearly see the 1 there. Open up your sent box and right click and resend it or delete it. That's the cause of your error message.

The computer is on a workgroup not a domain... any ideas on how I could share the contacts? Any help is appreciated... Thanks in advance.

Don't think you can on a workgroup network.

BUT there seems to be some 3rd party programs that may help you.
Try goggling on the subject.

I have a laptop with HP SimplePass, so when I start up my computer I log on with my fingerprint. I used to be able to pull up my email account (Hotmail) through outlook and it would open. Now, as of 01 Jan 2016, I have to log on to outlook seperately with
a username and password. Is there a way to revert to the way it was where I log on with my finger print and can access all my accounts?

Outlook is crashing immediately after startup. On my PC AND laptop at the same time. This might be an important indication for you specialists. Buggy mail?
I applied old system restore points and registry backups, to no avail.
Then used both quick and full repair of the entire Office suite.
Same issue persists.

Now I found out that Outlook works in safe mode.
I have eliminated the only COM add in, but this had no positive effect.

SOLVED: latest email was a bug. Deleted it through Outlook.com.

Having all sorts of problems.

Finally managed to import my thousands of saved emails (had to buy a program to do it) but cannot get them to be sub-folders of the inbox, only down at the bottom as "Outlook data file".

Cannot import contacts. I export to csv but they import blank, now I have about 100 blank contacts that this POS won't let me delete.

I have 3 accounts, comcast, gmail, and outlook.com. All are IMAP accounts.

When I started this process hours ago, I was hoping the following could be done:

Have one combined inbox
Have all my saved local folders as a sub of that inbox
Have a complete address book that I'm able to use and edit

Am I dreaming or just screwing something up? Any help greatly appreciated!

You can do it with the new mail app
set up all your e-mail accounts
Then you can use the link button to set them all up as one inbox

Hi;
Would like to sync (Win 7) outlook 2010 and (Win 10) outlook 2016. Specifically for email and calendars.
I believe the easiest way would be a sync'd or shared pst file. Comments or suggestions appreciated.
Vant

A:Backup Outlook 2016 via pst file (?)

i had no problems of "syncing" - just deinstalled outlook 2010 and entered correct information to outlook 2016 and its done.
sure i had to fix the syncing from 12months (default) to all but not a biggo.

depends ofc if your email provider is imap or some stuff, then you need the pst file from the old outlook

I have been running Exchange server 2010 on our network and recently subscribed to Office 365 online. I can access email ok on line through the Office 365 portal but cannot get Outlook 2016 on my PC to link with the online mail.

Outlook 2016 on my PC (Windows 10, 64 bit machine) appears to be only trying to connect to the local exchange server.
I have not yet switched off the exchange server but have removed my email account from the system.

I tried to create a new profile for 2016 but it cannot find my online email account (autodiscover was reported as working ok when I set up the online account and ISP MX records etc)

Thanks for any help.

This is my wife's work PC so I am not always there for errors etc The pst file in question has been - size?) 2016 corrupt PST (due Outlook to repaired countless times I have Outlook 2016 - corrupt PST (due to size?) a PC that has an outlook pst file going back to It was used with and is now being used in The setup is pop w email addresses Nothing fancy at all There is one relatively large archive pst and a main pst Outlook 2016 - corrupt PST (due to size?) They are probably - gb and gb For years there have been slightly annoying problems with outlook related to mail and repairing the pst would fix the problem Outlook 2016 - corrupt PST (due to size?) Eventually I wiped the drive and reinstalled W Pro and setup Office Outlook again After months outlook has gone batty it's downloading copies of the same email and sometimes will not allow deletion Repairing the pst has worked but something is trashed in the pst and I know this will continue happening so I need to do something about it IS the problem due to the size of the pst file One error message said that pst files were limited in size and I should update This is an account used for work and there are boatloads of contacts and emails that need to be saved I was thinking new pst file export the contacts to a NEW outlook com email address and then import them back into the new pst file I fear that dragging and dropping the contacts will cause corruption keep the OLD pst file and the archive pst open in outlook as archive-type folders I will get rid of the send receive capabilities in the OLD pst I wonder if corruption will makes it way into the new pst file I also wonder that even if the OLD and Archive pst files are not actually being used that the size will still make Outlook eventually start freaking out again They will be used occasionally to look up discussions etc Thoughts This has been going on for years and I need to get it fixed

'Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP) server failed.'

I have searched the web for a solution and have tried 993 and others for the port number and set SSL for the type of encrypted connection with no success.

Will someone please help me get my Gmail account set up under Win7 Outlook 2016?

No apparent problem with either Excel or Word.

The problems with Outlook start as soon as I boot it. Typically I see the working display a few times a day for a second or two. Once Outlook is up and I'm in it, the working display is up about 50-75% of the time. When I bring up task manager Windows Problem Reporting is active and taking 10-15% cpu. System and Compressed memory goes from usually under 100MB to 1500MP within two minutes. Within a few more minutes it's around 4000MB. Bandwidth usage is very high when Outlook is up. Both sending and receiving. I have no problems with Outlook in safe mode.

When I shut Outlook down, the high bandwidth usage goes away. Windows Problem Reporting apparently terminates. CPU usage drops to a more normal range. System and Compressed Memory stays pretty much where it was before I ended Outlook

Hi pitman44 and welcome to Tenforums.
I would say try a repair to Office - right-click Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features, wait for the installed programs list to populate, then highlight Office and select Repair from above the window. You should get two repair options, a local one, and an online one. The local one is quick, and may do nothing. The online one is almost like a complete new install and will require you to sign-in to reactivate.

You say you've got all add-ins disabled - that would have been my next guess. But the bandwidth issue is really odd/suspect. What happens with the bandwidth if you select "Work Offline"? I would run a Malwarebytes Antimalware Free (full) scan to see if anything comes up, just to be sure. I would also view the Reliability History (search in Cortana/search box), and see if any clues are found there.

That's about all I can think of ATM. Hope it helps.

We now use Office 2016 with Win10. Our incoming e-mails seem to be stuck at our ISP. I can see them when I go to WEB MAIL. But they are not arriving at Outlook on our computer.
I have gone through the e-mail set-up protocol with our ISP more than once - and everything appears to be correct. Is this a Microsoft issue?

Or, do some conversion first?

I really like my new Outlook 2016 but I'm struggling with the displayed views :

1) Inbox view groups messages by date with a header line for each date. I don't need this (I can read received date myself).
Is it possible to change this? i.e. just have a simple list like in WLM.

2) Contacts list is similarly annoying with a header line for each first name which just seems unnecessary and pointless.
Is it possible to change this also?
I see if I click on Address Book I get a simple list, no intervening header lines, just like in WLM.
Can I make the main list like this?

Thanks.

When starting Outlook 2016, a User Account Control dialog comes up asking for permission to "allow this app to make changes". Clicking OK, causes an immediate crash to desktop and "Outlook has stopped working" message.
Starting a second time brings up a dialog "do you want to start in Safe Mode". Previously that would also crash with the "Outlook" profile. I created a new clean profile that will allow a restart in Safe Mode, where Outlook works normally.
I have no idea where to begin in troubleshooting this problem. I'm using Office 16.0.7070,2033. I did find an AppCrash file for the incident. The only part I understood was the reference to MSPST.dll. I will attach the file. Thanks for taking a look at this.
