Preferred Solution: I would like to get gaming desktop compute for under $650

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please provide me with the steps in order to get the hard drive to be detected. Thank you in advance!

'I made my first and second Sata devices "Disabled"'

So, you have the Sata drive hooked to the 3rd or 4th port ?

No reason to avoid integrated graphics. You don't have to use it.

Take a look at barebones kits at places like Tigerdirect.com. You may find something to your liking and they give you a big head-start, include the processor usually, and are much cheaper than individual parts.

http://www.techspot.com/guides/buying/page3.html Been wanting a gaming rig for years and years. Now I'm finally going to build my own. I found this link and wanted some thoughts on whether or not it's a good build for the price/performance. Any thoughts?

A:New Desktop Gaming Rig

Hey there. That looks like a nice setup. There is one small change that I would make and that it to use a higher wattage PSU. Just to be on the safe side and in case of future upgrades that require more power. I would suggest one around 550-650w to be sure and also power supply's run at their most efficient at around 50% load.

This would be a nice high quality power supply to go for - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...7139004&cm_re=550w_PSU-_-17-139-004-_-Product

Hi all. I'm fed up with my old computer. I'm not what you would say technologically inclined. I love to play WoW, but it's hard for me to raid because in 25 man's I usually average around 2 and 3fps and I can barely function with that. I'm looking for the best gaming desktop I can get for under $800. Before making an investment like this I like to have all the expert advice I can get. I have been looking at this one here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229134 , but I'm keeping my options open. I don't want to make a bad decision.

Hello everyone!
I really really want to buy a gaming computer to buy for my son's bithday and since they have great graphics but I need some help in finding one!
If anybody knows any great computer and what website to find it with at least 2.0 mhz , 1 or 2 GB Ram and a good graphics card that cost at least $599.00 or less.
Thank you!

A:Desktop Gaming PC HELP!!

a gaming PC at that price would be hard to find if it was by a common retailer, 2.0 Ghz is rather low, so im guessing you are looking for dual core, try Dell ive heard they have some...deals... if you can call them that, personally i would build it... cheap quality parts... go to a local computer store and see if they can make anything decent for you post, what computer they suggest here before buying (and price)

Other than that video card it looks good. If you're really going to be gaming on this machine I'd get something a little beefier on the video card side. You'll be seriously bottlenecked there if not unless you're playing at a really tiny resolution.

Hello I hope this is the right place to post.I am looking to buy a gaming desktop. I do not know alot about computer specs so I thought I would post here to help. I have been looking at the alienware alpha R2. I have heard that it is overpriced. I have a budget of about $1000 but I would pay a few extra hundred if it really improved performance. I do not need a massive rig just a decently fast desktop to play a few of my favourite games on steam, and use league of legends and discord at the same time.Any help and advice would be appreciated. I am from Australia that seems to limit the options a bit I think.Thanks.

I know the specs haven't been announced yet, but I'm wanting to upgrade my gaming desktop in preparation for the Fallout 4 launch.

I'm also looking for better performance out of modded Skyrim.

Here's what I'm working with:

Type: Cyber Power PC
OS: Windows 8.1
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.50GHz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
Power Supply: Xtremegear 800w ATX Power Supply
RAM: 16.0
System Type: 64 bit

I'm looking at the GeForce GTX 980 Ti from Gigabyte here. I'm also looking to replace the power supply, as it came with the PC and I've read some nasty reviews online.

Looking for feedback. Thanks!

Good for running most games on medium-high settings. Not suited to hardcore gaming IMO. You should get the E7200 instead of your current CPU and invest more money in a better GPU, like the HD 4850, since that will affect game performance far more than the CPU.

Can you post the links to the parts, if applicable?

Im trying to decide which should I buy and which is more beneficial in the long run: a gaming desktop or console like Xbox One.

A gaming desktop will cost me $995. An Xbox One will cost $300 and a cheap notebook will cost $350 for a total of $650. Don't you think its cheaper and more beneficial to buy an Xbox One with a cheap notebook than a gaming desktop?

Im trying to decide which should I buy and which is more beneficial in the long run: a gaming desktop or a console like an Xbox One.

A gaming desktop will cost me $995. An Xbox One will cost $300 and a cheap notebook will cost $350 for a total of $650. Don't you think its cheaper and more beneficial to buy an Xbox One with a cheap notebook than a gaming desktop?

I know the specs haven't been announced yet, but I'm wanting to upgrade my gaming desktop in preparation for the Fallout 4 launch.

I'm also looking for better performance out of modded Skyrim.

Here's what I'm working with:

Type: Cyber Power PC
OS: Windows 8.1
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.50GHz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
Power Supply: Xtremegear 800w ATX Power Supply
RAM: 16.0
System Type: 64 bit

I'm looking at the GeForce GTX 980 Ti from Gigabyte. I'm also looking to replace the power supply, as it came with the PC and I've read some nasty reviews online.

Looking for feedback. Thanks!

Hello all, I dont know anything about building computers. I am looking to get a desktop built for gaming. I am currently gaming off of a laptop and it gets pretty slow. I play WoW and other games of that sort. pricing isnt really an issue on this, although I would have to say that my max limit is around $1000.00 which will probably be plenty enough for an awsome gaming system. A good price range would be around $500 to $700 bucks. but I can go up to 1000 max. ALL and ANY advice would be much appreciated. Thanks alot guys.

This is a gaming desktop that I want to buy and build, but I don't know if it is even any good. I want to be able to play at least PlanetSide 2 on medium graphic settings (or higher), but I also don't have a very large budget. I want to keep it at or below $500. Any advice?

Can someone tell me if they know a way to make remote desktop gaming work well? I used to know someone who played World of Warcraft over Remote Desktop, so i know it can be done.

Graphics Card - What games were going to play?

The X-Predator case is pretty nice, but it's big. I have a Genesis 9000, so my advice to you is make sure you have a place for it.

MotherBoard - ASUS is a always a good brand
CPU - Good - I have 2x running in different gaming PC's, (if you live near a MicroCenter, they are ~$250)
PSU - Awesome, I purchased one at the end of 2011 for my brothers PC, still runs like new
RAM - Good - if you install Win 7 Home then 2x 4GB, if its Win 7 Pro or Ultimate, get the 2x 8GB kit
Hard Drive - Get an SSD, but look for 250GB or bigger for games, they fill up quick.

Wifi card depends on your setup. Do you have a wireless n router? How far away is the router from the PC? Walls and/or floors may decrease data rate.

Ive been looking into laptops for the last 3 months or so, but to get a decent gaming laptop Im looking at spending at the very least $1,000 and they are not really upgradable. So Im wondering if theres really any good options for a gaming dekstop that gives me more bang for my buck but still being somewhat portable. Im looking to play mainly RTSs and RPGs. Especially the Total War series (including the new Rome Total War 2.)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey,
I am interested in building a gaming desktop for myself since the one I was using left with my brother for college. I have about $600 to build this box but if needed, i can pull another $100 in about a month. I was thinking a AMD dual core and some brand of a Radeon x1650pro. Not sure on which brand though.
Important things to know
All i need is the box without dvd/cd drive.
Case looks are not important, just black.
Hard drive does not need to be huge.
Everything else... give me suggestions.
Thank you in advance,
Merc

I m looking for a decent program to do desktop and or game play recording I ve checked some of Video Recording For Desktop/gaming the options out and the best or easiest looks like ShadowPlay however my graphics card is not the greatest - NVIDIA GeForce GT I was sure the requirements said series or later but apparently mine doesn t fall under that requirement I ve looked at some Video Recording For Desktop/gaming of the alternatives like Open Broadcast Software XSplit Bandicam etc I m curious on any opinions the community here may have or experience with any of these programs that can be shared I ve read some bad reviews Video Recording For Desktop/gaming for the OBS program but then I ve read good comments as well It makes it a bit difficult with all the conflicting points of view Ultimately I m looking to possibly upload videos to YouTube but the format isn t a major deciding factor as we all know the video files can be converted So does anyone here have a good suggestion advice or opinion on what I might use nbsp

A:Video Recording For Desktop/gaming

I neglected to mention that I would rather not pay a subscription fee. A one time fee might be do-able depending on the retail price, but at the moment, I'm looking for something free. I realize there are trial versions for some great software, but a lot of them will put a water mark on the recording, which is not acceptable if I'm going to actually upload these videos.

No, because it doesn't provide enough power and I bet it's very low quality and prone to blow out the rest of your system as it dies.

Wait until the system freezes (without a BSOD) again.  Then restart the system and immediately generate these 2 sets of reports:1)  Please run this report collecting tool (even though you may not be reporting BSOD's) so we can provide a complete analysis:  http://omgdebugging.com/bsod-inspector/When done a Notepad document will open with the name of the file and it's location.By default it'll be a .zip file located on your DesktopSimply upload the .zip file with your next post and we'll move on from there. If it doesn't work for you, then please try this:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/2)  Please do the following:- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")- right click on the "Administrative Events" heading- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."- save the file as Admin.evtx- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.htmlI'm suspecting an issue with your video card.  While waiting for a reply, please start on these free hardware diagnostics (it's OK to skip those that you've already run):  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.htmlPlease start with the video tests first.

I m currently experiencing issues with Win Anniversary Edition becoming laggy af but instead of wasting your time trying to diagnose it I thought I would reverse the process a bit for everyone s benefit with the hope of determining the root of the problem The Issue I built a new PC and installed a fresh copy of Win Anniversary Edition from desktop/gaming lag (solved) Win10 a thumbdrive Win10 desktop/gaming lag (solved) onto an SSD As one typically does I began to install all my apps afterwards beginning with my Antivirus of course Installed primary apps drivers updates etc at the beginning but slowly installed the Win10 desktop/gaming lag (solved) rest of non critical apps in the following days At first all seemed great but recently noticed that the responsiveness of the desktop was terrible Dragging windows around was really laggy and any graphical type of thing in windows including launching apps had significant lag and stuttering The Hardware i - K ASUS Z Pro Gaming Gigabyte GeForce GTX G Gaming Corsair Vengeance GB DDR GB Vertex SSD boot Cooler Master Hyper EVO TB storage What I ve Tried I needed to rule out the hardware components so I tested each accordingly and all checked out I also set everything to stock clocks I have determined that while the PC is loading all the background apps during Windows startup everything is really really speedy About seconds after everything appears to have loaded something loads that instantly kills performance around Windows in general Dragging windows around is really laggy and seems like fps Win Explorer takes several seconds to load etc You can just imagine what gaming experience is like Super slow starts sudden drops in FPS etc I ve began turning back to older drivers uninstall programs that I thought were suspect one by one I m down to just a few programs and I can t narrow it down Next Step I ve decided instead to reinstall windows and install apps one at a time until I can duplicate the problem Hopefully it just goes away but If I do find the culprit I ll post an update so as to help others in the same situation If all goes well I ll post that too UPDATE Solution It turned out to be ASUS Suite III I had uninstalled this prior to reformatting but it appears to be hard coded at that point I reinstalled Win and when I got to the point of installing the ASUS Suite III it immediately displayed the symptoms Reinstalled Win again this time left it out and all is good I was using it mostly for the fan control but got turned on to SpeedFan when is terrific I m not sure if this is Windows related but I m guessing its a compatibility issue with it nbsp

Hi
I have recently had windows 8.1 pro installed- my computer is mostly used for gaming at the moment but ive only had it a week so its still new
When im playing a game like The Witcher 3 or Skyrim I sometimes want to come out of fullscreen mode to use he desktop etc but Windows 8 seems o have a problem minimising he application, even ctrl Alt Del works to give me the options but when I click task manager- expecting it to go back to the desktop like w7 did- it comes up but the game is sill fullscreen open over the top and theres no way for me to get it minimised short of closing it completely.
Surely theres a way round this problem?

A:Solved: Gaming and going back to the Desktop

even ctrl Alt Del worksClick to expand...

From that I'm assuming that you are using a keyboard. Have you tried < Windows logo > (for Start screen) or < Windows logo > + d (for desktop)?

Ok This is kind of hard to explain but i will try my best So basically just today while i was done playing a game on my system Which is a pretty capable ASSEMBLED RIG i noticed the wood on top of my System gaming burning System's My (Desktop) ... TOP after was burning Curious i looked down My system is setup like this as shown in the attached picture amp I put my palm on the top of my system It was burning And after i came back from dinner i checked the temperature It was fine Now the specs of my System are as follows Processor Intel R Core TM i - CPU GHz GHz RAM GB Motherboard Gigabyte H -D H Graphics Card Zotac Nvidia Gforce GTX GB And again this was assembled The guy who made this system for My System's (Desktop) TOP burning after gaming ... me My System's (Desktop) TOP burning after gaming ... assured me that he is installing all the essential hardware componenets to support heaviest of the heavy Games Regarding the cooling he said that apart from the regular fan that he My System's (Desktop) TOP burning after gaming ... installed in my system He also said that i can install an extra fan for extra cooling but i didn't installed it as he said that this much cooling would be enough I have dealt with SYSTEM OVERHEAT WHILE GAMING issues before with my Laptop but a simple FIX from youtube allowed me play with some Processor temperature settings in Power Plan And to make it completely BURN-FREE i was using a BIG Portable fan that i used to switched on whenever i was gonna play some games Now this issue of my SYSTEM's top side burning Could this be due to the improper installing assembling of my system's HARDWARE by the shop guy or perhaps i am overreacting Or MAY BE the place where i have placed my system Under the table as shown in the attached Picture is preventing it from any Ventilation What are your suggestions I am ready to try anything to make this burning go away

A:My System's (Desktop) TOP burning after gaming ...

You have to monitor your CPU and GPU temps during gaming.

No way should the top of your PC be getting hot.

Where is the Power Supply located in that case ? Is it getting hot ?

Yarrr I m recently wanting to buy a sexy Gaming Desktop Of course like every other computer noob out there I thought quot hmm alienware quot but after reading a lot of articles etcetera etcetera I discovered that alienware is indeed the best gaming rig but the most expensive and their computers are totally unreliable So now I m stuck between a rock and a hard place Desktop I have a budget of about - for Laptop! Gaming Desktop, Casual-use the DESKTOP even though is pushing it a little Now the kind of desktop that I want is not a Gaming Desktop, Casual-use Laptop! super fast ub r gaming rig but something a little above average and a reliable machine that won t just crash on me because it s under cooled or just for some reason in the next - years To make it easier here s a bullet list of what I want Gaming Desktop - budget pushing it a little but will pay if I can get the most bang for the buck Above average but doesn t need to be super ub r Reliable won t crash in the next - years Games such as World of Warcraft Warhammer when it releases Starcraft and games such as those Laptop Pretty much the laptop I want is for home use My mom s birthday is coming up and one of the things I want to present to her is a new laptop her old laptop broke down a few months back Pretty much all I m asking for is something simple A laptop that she ll be able to surf the internet with complete simple tasks like e-mail word etcetera She won t be playing any games on there but I also want the laptop to be extremely reliable and safe What I mean is I want the laptop to last for years and since she s totally an internet noob I don t want her laptop to get infected by a virus or some internet bug when she s opening her e-mail s I m thinking about Norton what my current computer has but it s such a huge CPU hog and I m starting to hate it or maybe AVG I ve heard great things about it I don t care if I have to pay for the anti-virus firewall Lastly I want it to be decently light but I want the screen to be as big as possible for eye-sight reasons The budget on this laptop is around I m sure a computer like this could be bought for maybe around Once again a bullet list Laptop able to complete simple tasks e-mail word internet Reliable years Anti-virus Firewall Norton AVG Any other ideas Decently light with a big a screen as possible Both For the operating system I was thinking Vista but I heard it s a total waste on a gaming rig right now but it s such an inticing deal If it s really all that bad for a gaming pc then I m sure it ll be fine for the laptop I m buying Any other ideas nbsp

I bought a new iBuyPower desktop from bestbuy for around $400 in august, and the only problem is that it keeps BSOD-ing when im gaming which is weird for a gaming desktop. I picked a cheap one because I'm currently studying to become a computer engineer and to learn how to do maintenance on computers but I don't have a single idea how to fix this. My cousin spent like 2 weeks looking at it and couldn't even figure out the exact cause. the only information I can find about the BSOD is in the attached picture. I'm about ready to smash this desktop but I can't afford a new one.

P.S I know this is the forum for windows 7 but I couldn't find the new post button on the eight forum.

A:gaming desktop BSOD 0x124_AuthenticAMD_PROCESSOR_CACHE_PRV

I've noticed majority of my BSOD have been during games that I'm constantly clicking my mouse/keyboard (i.e Path of Exile, Dragon Nest, Saints Row 3/4, etc). If there's any other info someones needs to help me please say so. Any help would be appreciated

-> Restart your computer.

Crashes are likely due to:

cmudax3.sys Wed Sep 3 04:13:16 2008 (48BE633C)
C-Media Audio Driver (WDM) by C-Media
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=cmudax3.sys

Update the driver from C-Media or from your motherboard support site, whichever applies.

I also recommend you update/replace/remove the following drivers:

ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 20:30:36 2005 (42476C4C)
Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility (a known BSOD maker in Win7). Also a part of the Asus PCProbe and AISuite Utilities
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=ASACPI.sys

To remove drivers, do so by uninstalling the device or software associated with the driver. Devices can be uninstalled through device manager, and then the device itself should be physically removed from the system if possible.

3rd Party Drivers: The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find links to the driver information and where to update the drivers in the section after the code box:

deciding between fry's lenovo k330-77275su and best buy's ibuypower bb9371 ? maybe ibuypower 3rd gen. i7 bb982p; i'm worried about ibuypower using 'micro' motherboards; these 2 ibuypower computers both have 1 free pci slot, the lenovo has 2, i think; i might want to upgrade ram to 16gb , and upgrade video card at some future point, i would onlly use this machine for gaming: should i worry about the 'micro' motherboard issue ? lenovo is $950, ibuypower's are $840 and $1000, respectively; thanks i might have to upgrade power supply if i upgraded the video card at some future date; thanks would i be able to make these 3 upgrades to the ibuypower desktops ? thanks

These were caused by a memory exception. Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Hi, I wonder how much physical damage a gaming desktop can withstand, like loosing it in the ground, just move it around for a good distance etc.? And how long is the average lifetime for a gaming desktop?

You will receive more replies if your question is clear. Right now, I can't say I understand what you're asking. But, I will try and see if I can answer your question.

The amount of damage a desktop can go through all depends on material the case is made out of. What 'damage' it is actually going through and the frequency it incurs the damages. If you're talking about moving a desktop from one place to another. For instance, you're going to a LAN party and you're moving it from house to house. You do put your machine at risk, but it all depends on how you handle it. I am pretty sure if you are careful the desktop wont go through any damage.

However, if you're talking about intentionally dropping a PC or dragging it around (why in the world you be?). Then, again, it all depends on the material the case is made out of. As well as how well put together the build is in general. I am sure most people will not want to think about what may happen to their machines if they dropped it on the floor. The damage could result in parts breaking or coming a loose. Problems that I believe you will want to avoid.

When it comes to a Gaming PC's lifetime. It all depends on the parts that are used. For example, I could build a PC today with all the latest parts and it will probably last me a good 5-8 years. However, I can't say you will be able to call it a "gaming" PC 8 years from now. At the rate technology advances the machine would probably only retain it's "gaming" title for another 2 or 3 years.

Hopefully that clears up something for you. And, maybe someone with more knowledge on the matter will chime in.

A:Buying Parts For Building a Gaming Desktop

Don't get Velociraptor. Get a 1TB WD Black instead.
Caching drive: uses the HDD for files, but stores commonly-accessed stuff on the SSD.
For best performance, get an SSD and use it for OS and core productivity programs. Then store games/media/documents on the HDD.
Don't need additional LAN card.
Why are you buying an additional audio card? It's nice, but your mobo comes with a decent one to begin with.
It's probably cheaper to get TWO dual-channel 2x 8GB RAM kits, instead of the quad-channel one.
Maybe spend a little more on CPU cooler, since you're getting the top GPU too. May I suggest a ~$100 all-in-one water cooling kit.
120GB SSDs are better value these days.

A:Upgrading my Acer retail desktop for gaming

Without knowing your full system specs I would say, you could probably get by with a GPU and power supply upgrade. Do you know what size power supply you have in the machine? I'm also assuming you don't have a dedicated graphics solution, since you have an AMD-A6 CPU.

Only 271 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems with SP1 have 350-400 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all). The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating. Many, many BSOD's listed in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report.Yet only 2 memory dumps in the uploaded reports. If you're using a disk cleaner (such as CCleaner), please stop while we're troubleshooting. Due to the number of different BSOD errors in the WER section, please start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center.  This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.NOTE:  these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive.  The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program. Please note that I stated "video stuff", as some integrated processors may have the graphics chip built in (which may involve the chipset software). Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.amd.com (in the upper right corner of the page)Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY:  http://www.sysnative.com/forums/showthread.php/668-ATI-video-cards-DRIVER-ONLY-installation-procedureIf the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item. Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install".  Reboot for changes to take affect.Sometimes the entry will remain in Device Manager even though you've removed it.  So, open up Device Manager and check for the AODDriver4.2.0 (it may have another number).  Right click on it and select "Uninstall".  If it asks to remove software, put a check in the box.  Then click on OK.Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's.  If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking. If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html Analysis:The following is for information purposes only. I want to buy a gaming desktop already built. But I'm on a budget. I need one that lets me upgrade the parts like the GPU in the future. I want your recommendations on buying one.

Someone said I'd do fine with an i5 and Nvidia 960 for now and upgrade to 970 later.

Please post links and prices. Thanks.

Please help, my computer ran a scan (by Speed Up My PC) and I have roughly 210 problems have been identified, although the software I am using might be a virus because it randomly appeared on my laptop and I don't know were it came from! Help!

Hi, I have a Dell Precision WorkStation T3400. It has
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz
2GB DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 with 256 MBytes

Whenever I play cod4, its kind of slow. I do not think it is the internet because I have around 4.8mbps. What upgrade to my computer would you recommend to speed it up? If you need more information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Look for cheap suggestions to speed up this thing for multitasking and playing high quality games like Call of Duty 4 and Prototype.

Hey, I am at the stage we all go through many times in our lives. Trying to decide what computer to get while your computer you have is slowly dying. I'm looking for hints on what computer might be the best for my needs as a gamer.

The main specifications i would like:

Atleaste 8gb Ram
64bit CPU
Good graphics card
Good processor
Pre-installed with Windows 7 (Home Premium is fine)
Pretty much able to handle HD games without me setting all the graphics setting and performance settings to "Ultra Low" - "Ultra High" would be nice!
Something that doesn't overheats itself while using these settings (Don't want to keep checking the heat meters anxiously )
Room for upgrades, easily accessible inside.

Not every detail is needed really but that would be a dream computer. Thank-you for your help.

A:Trying to choose a gaming desktop -- high performance, no overheating

If you have the cash, and no DIY confidence, go for an Alienware.
If you like DIY (like me), read up reviews of hardware which you want, go to the hardware market, buy the 'dream hardware', go home, and assemble.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Hi guys!

My friend's rig is having strange issues when playing games for a short while. For example, when playing FIFA 2012 for about 10-15 minutes, the computer will either get a BSOD or random reboot or crash to desktop. It happens for other games as well.

System Specs:

Intel Core i5 750
2x2 GB Corsair XMS3
Palit GTX 275
Corsair TX650

Everything is running at stock speeds.

I am attaching the dumps with this post. Thanks in advance for any help/ideas.

A:Random BSOD/restart/crash to desktop when gaming

No other problems outside of game play? The minidumps are all over the place with:

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
(HAL.DLL)
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(ACPI.SYS)

Is the bios set at defaults? Were all the motherboards drivers installed? Is Windows fully updated including all the optional updates? No SSD drives installed? What brand id the motherboard?

Some older parts is what I meant to include in the title Using option in BSOD posting instructions I've attached while once BSOD gaming, older desktop. some on twice Brand build, new the requested file This is a new build Almost a week old though it uses some older parts from a previous build RAM and storage to be specific and in that time I've had three BSOD crashes The latest of which was about minutes ago while on the desktop BSOD twice while gaming, once on desktop. Brand new build, some older Two BSOD's happened while playing games one last night with Wasteland attempting to experiment with Nvidia's new dynamic super resolution feature in the drivers and another several days ago while playing another game I run the program MSI Afterburner as a monitoring tool so that I can take a peek at on my second monitor while I game and keep an eye on my machines performance I suspect Afterburner may be the issue however I cannot say for sure Any information that could point me in the right direction would be very much appreciated

A:BSOD twice while gaming, once on desktop. Brand new build, some older

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
At least, dont let Killer Network manager to start with windows.

Let us know for any further BSOD.

So I recently had my main computer crash and break to the point I need a new computer so I figured I'd make it worth it this time.

Here's the deal: (add the www to see it)tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6327547&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&cm_mmc_o=VRqCjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE

Everything on there seems decent but I am curious about the board itself. Would the Intel Desktop Board DP55WB Motherboard be good for gaming, which I wish to use my computer mainly for. I have at most a 700 dollar budget and this seems like a nice deal for it. I plan on putting a Geforce GTX 580 graphics card in it as soon as I get the money as a little side note if it matters.

I'd suggest looking at the same chipset, but in either Gigabyte or Asus brands. Intel boards are fine, as much as it goes, but the BIOS is very limited as to configuration for different memory, and overclocking options. Intel really markets it's boards as mainstream items, intended for average users and businesses, they're not really aimed at the enthusiast.

The feature set can vary widely from board to board, and you should have a look at these pages to see which board has the capabilities you need;

Asus P-55; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...600008069 600008216&IsNodeId=1&name=Intel P55

Hi, this is my first time posting so I hope I've provided enough info/zipped the right stuff.

My PC has begun crashing (last few days) quite often and seemingly at random. It can crash 3 times in 15minutes or not at all in 3 hours. I used it for undemanding gaming, browsing and office apps.

It's a 2.5 year old Acer Aspire X3812 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I think I've zipped the BSOD Dump & System File Collection right but I wasn't able to do a System Health Report due to the error "an error occurred while attempting to generate the report" (I tried changing stuff in services but no luck).

I don't know if it's enough of the error code but the BSOD showed something like 0x0000001E.

Attachment 214518

A:Seemingly Random (gaming, browsing, desktop) BSOD

The only .dmp file was corrupted and therefore inconclusive. This could indicate hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log (you may need to search for wininit instead of chkdsk).
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Run the short and long tests with SeaTools for HDDs.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:SSD firmware
BIOS Version
Chipset Drivers
Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, uninstall it in device manager and see if the system performs better.

Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. If you do not have antivirus software installed, see the Good and Free system security combination. for better security steps and scanning tools. Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

CCleaner

We do not recommend the use of registry cleaners, or the registry cleaner feature of CCleaner. Our colleague miekiemoes has an excellent writeup here

------------------------------------------------------

I see you have P2P software ( uTorrent ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation.

Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

A reference for the risk of these programs is here

I would strongly recommend that you uninstall it. You can do so via Control Panel >> Programs and Features.

just trying to clean out my computer make it run as smooth as possible anybody know a good way to get rid of stuff or some safe programs i could use to prevent viruses, and to keep my computer running good

A:just cleaning out my compute... suggestions

Well first of all I suggest that you manually delete any files that you dont need anymore after which you can then organise all your using files and folders in a file structure. Then I suggest that you install AVG OR Avast which are both freee and very good antvirus software. These will enable you to perform a full system scan and eliminate any viruses present in your system. I also suggest that you do a spyware scan using at least two antispyware applications such as spybot s&d, windows defender (dont really le it personally) avg antispyware etc. It is importat to use more than one spyware application to ensure that any spywarethat is not detected by one program will then be evenually detected by the other. I also recommend that you perform a defragmentation of your system using the defrag tool that comes with windows and also perform a registry cleanup with a program such as ccleaner (free!!) in order to remove unused files from your system. Finally you can also disable some startup program which can sometimes compromise your system performance.

My last but most import advice is that you maintain your system meaning that you perform regular virsus and spyware scan otherwise you will end up with the same situation.

Hope this helps
Happy System Cleaning

Gerchan

This problem has happened before. It happens when online sometimes and with an older game program that I run.

generally on all lockups it is usually caused by corrupt video drivers. update the drivers or reinstall them.

My PC won't turn on. A window opens saying if i want to open it in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Safe Mode with Network, Start windows normally, etc. When i click any of these options the computer starts again and the cycle repeats. I have attached a picture of what shows up when i open the PC. Thanks for your help! Here is the thread that i posted before and all the steps that i had followed. EDIT: Sorry but my R does not function properly all the time as you can see in the title.

A:Compute wont turn on.

This may or may not be the problem, but did you do a window update called update for window 7 for x64-based systems (KB2506014) important/.8mb I noticed in the past this was causing a boot loop on a few laptops I worked on the past. If you got a window 7 disk insert it into your DVD/cd rom and choice repair windows and maby it might fix boot loop or in advance options might let you use system recovery and might take you to a time when window was working. However, it depends if you got a window 7 disk. There iswindow 7 repair disk I found on Sevenforums. HereUpdate sorry wrong link
