I successfully installed 2 programs yet can't find them anywhere.

Q: I successfully installed 2 programs yet can't find them anywhere.

I successfully installed 2 programs on my laptop yet can't find them anywhere. I'm using windows 7 64 bit. I've checked the system files, used search but still nada! Yet when I slide in the installation cd and click install I'm prompted to repair or uninstall which confirms the install was successful. Even downloading software does the same thing. Where the hell can it be then?

Any help would be great!

Thanks.

Preferred Solution: I successfully installed 2 programs yet can't find them anywhere.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Alright, this might sound as a stupid question, but I'm not able to find some of my installed programs (neither in Metro nor with the searching function at the top right corner).
The only way I can find 'em is by going to the installed location.
e.g. ?torrent

Thanks in advance.

A:How to find installed programs

Hello Abdullah, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Usually installed programs will create a shortcut to be listed in your Apps screen.
Apps Screen - Open in Windows 8
If not, then you could go to installed location to create a shortcut from the program's .exe file to use where you like, or "Pin to Start" or "Pin to Taskbar" the .exe file.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I need to find a way to get the keys from programs already installed so that if I ever need to re image the computer I still have them.
Here is a list of what I need to figure out how to get keys from:
Microsoft Office Pro 2010
Adobe CS4
Bejeweld 2 Deluxe
Diablo II

I dont know if theres a method to look at any keys installed on a computer or if you have to figure out how to do each one individually.

Dell M90; XP SP3

Got the "Disk Antivirus Professional" bug and tried to overcome it but kept ending up with a black (or sometimes blue) desktop w/ cursor.

Ended up doing a fresh install of XP and just now got all updates.

Question:
All my programs are still on the computer. Is there a way to get XP to recognize them without me having to re-install each one?

I was hoping I could regedit something to get XP to see them.

A:After fresh install, can XP find installed programs?

I am not sure what you mean by Fresh Install, but that usually would mean you Formatted (erased) the C: drive and installed Windows.
If you just reinstalled Windows, without formatting, then you will have to reinstall all of the Programs because you have overwritten the Windows Registry in the C: drive, but not the Program Files directory.

Last night installed an update (automatic) with the shutdown button. I have a 1 month old Toshiba laptop and vista home basic OS. This morning...unable to find any of the installed programs including control panel and system icons. I searched for system restore by clicking on all the icons in the program folder...but, unable to identify it.

I have saved a Toshiba recovery disc...but, can't fins an automatic setup icon in that.

Ideally, would love to system restore...to avoid losing my docs and downloads I have done so far...any sugeestions is more than welcome. Thank you.

A:After an update...can't find any installed programs including system restore!

hello.

When you start up the computer press keep pressing the button to get the windows boot options up(normaly F8) when u see the toshiba logo straight after u turn on. then with vista u get a option to see the system diagnostics program and when that loads up there is a option for system restore.

if that isnt there try booting it in safe mode and see if all your icons are there then if they are run system restore that way (start-all programs-accessorys-system-system restore

i havent used vista in a while now(i got windows 7) but im sure that how i use to do it when i did have vista

I'm trying to see if a particular program was installed on a system running Windows 7 without it being booted up. I don't see this program listed under Program Files or Program Files (x86), but I do see something listed under ProgramData that has an executable.
I talked to the vendor, and he stated that this might be what I'm looking for, but that it would show up in the installed programs.
Thank you.

I am thinking of upgrading to Windows 8.
I have 3 questions about it.

Will it automatically find the programs I have installed on my D: drive or will I have to install them again?
Does it have a good emulator for Windows 95? I still have some programs designed to run on Win 95, they are programs I use and I do not want to abandon them.
Also, will Windows 8 allow me to use an interface that is point and click with a mouse. I do not have a touch screen.

A:Solved: Will Windows 8 automatically find programs already installed on D: drive

As you are running 7 Ultimate 64 bit you can upgrade to windows 8 Pro 64bit and keep more or less everything see this

This is the simplest upgrade path of all. You can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro from any version of Windows 7, and you can choose whether you want to migrate files, settings, and programs, just files, or nothing. Here is the official Microsoft upgrade doc
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/jj203353.aspx
so you cannot upgrade and keep all to OTHER than windows 8 Pro
Yes it does have compatibility going back to win95 but that does NOT mean that the program will run without problems please see screenshot
Before you start run the windows 8 upgrade assistant
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8
and the 8.1
You cannot upgrade to 8.1 from 7 and keep all. I do appreciate that you said to 8 however.
You can of course later on go from 8 to 8.1
Please ensure that you have all backed up - it can go wrong just like any other install.
Yes you can use it with a mouse and keyboard just as 7. It is not the OS itself that enables touch.

i have win 7 and it is working fine with lots of programs, paid and free and many without discs etc.
i expect to set up a dual boot ... win 7 and win 10
i have never created a dual boot before and i'm not a "techy"

#1 can the win 10 find what ever it needs and run the "installed" win 7 programs?

#2 should i just plod along with the win 10 and gradually download and install programs on win 10 while using win 7 for most of my work until i get most of the programs running in win 10?
i can't afford to buy a bunch more programs and i'm getting too old to just jump in and find and download/install a bunch of programs all at once

#3 how will auto updates of windows and other programs and drivers work with the dual boot setup?

thanks for your comments/advice

I'm not sure exactly where to ask this, so I'll try here. I have installed (or so the Update History page tells me) IE 9 (Win 7 Home Ed 64-bit). The history says the installation was successful (actually, more than once). The list of Windows Features shows IE9 running. But when I click on any IE icon that I can find, I'm still getting IE 8. There is no IE in my Start Menu, the only IE files I can find in Program Files (x88) on my boot drive are version 8 (right click Properties on iexplore.exe). If IE 9 is installed and "running," where do I find it to start it up?

Thanks,
Karl

Hello dyedcorduroy, welcome to Seven Forums!

Does the partition have a drive letter in XP?

Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire Windows disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a maximized snip of that.

new computer, see profile, Windows 7 professional came installed, but not the updates...so I'm running updates. I see a lot of history in the forums from years 2011 and 2012 about this update loading over and over. What is happening now is different in that the update keeps saying it needs to be installed, I install it, computer says it installed successfully, I reboot. I rerun update search and it finds same update kb2538242 still needs to installed. The difference is that it actually does need to be installed...it does not show in the "view updates" list.

I have tried manually installing, and installing an alternate file I saw in the forums (it no longer exists). I've installed the file probably 20 times. I can't just ignore it because it won't do any of the later updates including those for Office 2010 which I just installed. I can't figure out what to do. Can anyone help? This is what I get at every startup in the notification area: "Device driver was not successfully installed"
When I click on the message I get a window that says:

All attempts by Windows 7 troubleshooting just try to fix it. I just want to get rid of it.
I have found the registry entries for this but have no idea what to alter to stop this driver from trying to run.

Have you tried going into the device manager and looking for any yellow marked items? Something similar was seen with Vista as well with usb drives. USB Drive Problems with Vista

Either right clicking to uninstall followed by a full restart or to have Windows perform an automatic search won't always work. A manual search by selecting the device from the list of devices will often see Windows install the correct generic driver where you end up with "Windows has successfully installed your new hardware" type message.

When you receive it again, do not install. Set it to hide, just right click on the update and choose hide.. You should not be bothered again.

Hopefully, you used the Windows 7 install disc which came with your custom built desktop computer to reformat and reinstall Windows 7.

Hi, every time I booted up my pc, it automatically attempts to install Broadcom xD Picture card Host controller and Broadcom xD Picture Bus Driver but the installation fails every time. I use DriverPack Solution to install and update my drivers and when I checked if all the drivers are installed, it's all there. I tried using the Windows automatic driver search but it fails also.

By the way, I'm using Acer Aspire 4752g.

A:[SOLVED] Device driver not successfully installed

I don't recommend (and neither do the moderators If I recall correctly) the use of driver-locating software like DriverPack etc, especially when your laptop brand has excellent manufacturer's support on the web.

You should download drivers manually direct from the Acer Support website as that's the only way to be sure of what you are downloading & that they are the correct drivers for your model.

Select your Windows version on this page & wait for it to refresh:

United States (default): Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 4752G

If United States is not the appropriate country, click the link at bottom left of page.

Had a problem (user profile), so reverted to last usable configuration. Now I get a message that "device driver software was not successfully installed." That would be easier to fix if I knew which device was meant.

Device Manager shows two USB devices with exclamation marks, each marked "unknown device."

First one's status said "Windows has stopped this device beause it has reported problems. (Code 43). Searched for drivers and, after a long search, I got a message that "The best driver software for your device is already installed."

Second says "This device disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29). " Another long search, and I'm told the same thing?

Should I uninstall these drivers and trust them to reinstall themselves?

A:Device driver software not successfully installed--OK, but which?

First thoughts would be the external hardrives.
Secondly W7 does not have any generic USB3 drivers.

The firmware problem will definately require a visit to the problem devices home page as firmware updates are not MS updated.

I installed windows 7 Ult on my Toshiba satellite l50 laptop (which had no operating systems installed at the time). No programs were installed and 7 drivers weren't recognised.

I used the same installation CD to install Windows 7 on VMware (on my desktop) and the drivers were successfully installed and had 2 programs installed(excluding VMware).

Ubuntu on the other hand was able to recognise the drivers when I booted it from the live CD meaning there must be a problem within windows 7 not my laptop.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

A:Device driver software was not successfully installed.

You need to go look for those drivers!

Your laptop and desktop would require different drivers.
Ubuntu and most Linux disrtos' are pretty good with drivers these days; so I guess you got lucky with that.

Start on the manufacturers website for the laptop; you'll probably find everything you need there.

Reader doesn't install no matter how many times I repeat the procedure. Originally, I thought it was because of HP's pre-installed "PDF Complete" bloatware, but even after uninstall and reboot, it doesn't seem to work.

Anyone else ever encounter this problem (and its solution)?

My system just recently getting this error message from Windows 7. All my keyboard and mouse are disabled due to this error. I tried all usb ports and once I plug in the device, it displays this error message, then stuck. I can once use my ps2 keyboard to access the windows, but now the windows locks up all my input devices.

Does anyone experience this before?

I used Malwarebytes to scan, nothing found.
I used Xfrot to scan for virus, nothing found.

Other than re-install the windows, any suggestion?

A:Device driver software was not successfully installed

Have you tried going into the device manager and looking for any yellow marked items? Something similar was seen with Vista as well with usb drives. USB Drive Problems with Vista

Either right clicking to uninstall followed by a full restart or to have Windows perform an automatic search won't always work. A manual search by selecting the device from the list of devices will often see Windows install the correct generic driver where you end up with "Windows has successfully installed your new hardware" type message.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I've read dozens of sources on how to (re)install/fix Korean on Win7 and I successfully installed Korean language pack - the installation says it was successful. However under "Korean" there's no "Microsoft IME" as there should be, and picking only the "Korean" sub-option doesn't do anything. I can even set my default language to Korean and I still would type with Latin characters. Korean never shows on the language bar, other languages show. Reboot doesn't help.

Tried uninstalling / installing the Korean language pack; tried different sources for the pack, re-downloading. It never seems to work; it installs and then nothing happens. I'm at a loss how to solve this further, please help!

A:Successfully Installed Korean Language Doesn't Work

Hi Fxoz, welcome to the Seven Forums.

After installing Korean language pack you need to change display language as described in this tutorial: Display Language - Change

When that's done, set the keyboard layout as told here: Keyboard Layout - Change

Then the tricky part, using Korean Ms IME; read this post to fix that: Cannot input foreign language

Should work now as you wanted.

Yesterday I upgraded hardware from:

AMD Athlon X2 4600+ & Mobo

to:

Core i5 3570K and Asus P8H77-I mobo.

I think it's since then, that I can't install some drivers. I first noticed when I was going to use Daemon Tools Lite, there weren't any drives so i clicked "Add device" in D-tools but got "Device driver software was not successfully installed" from Windows. Same happened when I tried other emulator software, as well as some Intel Drivers for my mobo. But, most other drivers for the motherboard worked fine, same for updating gfx drivers.

Errors:

A:Device driver software was not successfully installed, Daemon T, more

Editing the registry solved it.

Most times when I start my machine or just turn on my monitors (the Windows Display setting is set to turn off at 20 minutes, sleep is set to Never), I find that Windows is installing software. Sometimes it's successful, sometimes it fails.

I see others have had this issue, but the offered remedies (reinstall drivers) did not work (I consider I may not have done it properly).

? How can I get Windows to install the software correctly and then stop attempting to re-install the software?

A:Error: Device driver software was not successfully installed

Hi

The hardware for your model is described as:

Quote:
802.11 a/b/g/n PCI Express x1 wireless card & built-in Bluetooth wireless USB module for PCs

Check the Device Manager first:

Quote:
Before trying to install the Bluetooth driver you need to check whether the Bluetooth device is
added to the Hardware list in your Operating System. You could check this by verifying the
enabled Bluetooth option in the Device manager on the Control Panel. If it is not enabled,
Operating System would not detect the Bluetooth Device in your system and you would not able
to install the driver using automatic update option.

You can find the drivers here, I suggest you try the driver found under "Original"

First select your operating system.

The version you want is 8.0.0.144 Dated 2010-01-08 Size 1.85Mb

"Original driver for the Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n Dual Wireless Network Module"

There are instructions (under more info) how to install and heres the link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...t=4147109#N297

I would uninstall any previous drivers you have installed.

Hope this helps
Cheers

A:Device Driver Software was not Successfully Installed for Cable Modem

Hi,

Upon checking on the Manufacturer website for your cable modem, I suspected that the driver for your device is not compatible with Windows 7. I also went to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center, and could not find your device listed on the site.

Here is the site, for your own research.

Windows 7 Compatibility: Software Programs & Hardware Devices: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads

My solution is to find if there is a generic driver for your modem, on the Cisco website, simply download the driver that best suits your modem's series.

I'm unclear on a few things:

Does this PC have 2 hard drives: a WD 500 GB drive and the one you call "my Sata Hd"?

Have you recently flashed the BIOS or made any changes in the existing BIOS?

Is the BIOS now set to defaults?

Do you have any type of RAID on this PC?

Dear Experts
twice on my laptop ASUS corei5 I tried to encrypted the whole hd using TE 7.1a after I formatted and reinstalled an OS (Windows7).
All this was done and working (restarting, etc.) perfectly before I started the encryption.
I had run through the steps posted in many websites, and yes, I made it through as per the attached snapshot

http://i62.tinypic.com/107l4pz.jpg

When I restarted the laptop for testing purpose TE asked me for the passphrase yes I do remember it, after typed it in blank screen presented (no windows OS)
What could be the culprit ?
Regards

A:True Encrypt installed successfully but blank screen presented

Never heard of True Encrypt.
I have use True Crypt before and it gave a password test before it installed so you knew everything was good
True Crypt is here:
https://www.grc.com/misc/truecrypt/truecrypt.htm
The original creators of True Crypt has stopped distribution and taken out the download

Although the disappearance of the TrueCrypt site, whose ever-presence the Internet community long ago grew to take for granted, shocked and surprised many, it clearly came as no surprise to the developers who maintained the site and its namesake code for the past ten years. An analysis of the extensive changes made to TrueCrypt's swan song v7.2 release, and to the code's updated v3.1 license, shows that this departure, which was unveiled without preamble, was in fact quite well planned.

Where did you get this software?

I cannot restore to last point- we let the computer sit on restore for 9 hours. IT never restored.

I attempted to repair Windows XP with disc that came with the computer. It didn't allow it because the Windows XP version on the computer is new than the version on the disc.

We are dead in the water and at our wits end. Plese help

A:Windows XP crashing- won't start up successfully- programs missing etc etc.

See this article on how to slipstream SP2 into your Windows XP CD. This will allow you to complete the repair install.

Also, did he run a memory cleaner or a REGISTRY cleaner? I've never heard of a memory cleaner, but some REGISTRY cleaners can really screw up a system.

Also, can you still access Task Manager and Control Panel? I ask because some viruses disable access to these features, along with Windows Update and give an error that you are not an administrator or that you don't have the proper privileges to do something.

Also, if you boot the computer into Safe Mode (by pressing F8 as the computer boots and selecting Safe Mode) can you log in using the built in Administrator account?

I'm deploying our Windows 10 company image through MDT. One of the steps i do is enter the windows key through a command line custom task. The problem I run into is that I keep getting the "Installed product key successfully message" dialog box to come up which stalls the rest of my task sequence and forces user intervention.
The command line I'm using - which I thought would prevent any confirmation boxes - is:

slmgr.vbs -ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can clear this message automatically, suppress it from even popping up or if I'm doing something wrong, what the correct command is?

Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 7 Ultimate/32bit. iTunes 9.0
Each time I dock my iPhone, I get a pop-up message "device driver software was not installed successfully". I want to stop this message appearing.
In fact, Windows 7 *is* locating the correct USBAAPL driver (which is seen to load in Device Manager) and iTunes works fine.
However, since the detail on the error message relates to "MTP USB device" it seems that Windows is triggering the error too soon.
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch and latest iTunes etc (for other reasons) but this problem remains.
If I delete the driver then the default that Windows looks for is the MTP driver (which fails) and then I manually point it to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers and it reinstalls the USBAAPL driver it had before.

A:Plugging in iPhone generates "device driver software was not installed successfully" message

Try go to Device Manager, if there is any “Unknown MTP device”, uninstall it,  then plug in your iPhone and scan for hardware changes to let Windows Update automatically find and install the correct driver.

Hello I have a bit of a problem I think I saw similar problems on this forum but as they did not help with my own I decided I would post here myself Sorry if that s against policy I ve never personally work after "successfully" USB not hardware does installed. being posted on support forums before I reinstalled windows XP from scratch just last Tuesday I completely reformatted the main hard drive and reinstalled all of the drivers that my computer -- which is an HP Pavilion D y with some superficial upgrades -- originally came with via the hp website That went smoothly little to no issue there My problem USB hardware does not work after "successfully" being installed. is this Aside from the mouse and keyboard that were plugged in during the windows installation the USB drives will register that something has been put into them and will go through the motions of quot installing new hardware quot but after the installation is quot completed successfully quot the thing I have plugged into the USB won t work and if I unplug it and plug it in again it repeats the hardware installation process So the mouse that I bought because the scroll on my current mouse doesn t work smoothly enough for my boyfriend to game with won t work even though the computer registers its existence I tried hunting down the drivers for the mouse and installed those turned the CPU off rather than just restarting no luck What is most frustrating about this is that the first time I plug in a new device I have tried the aforementioned optic mouse a wireless optic mouse that I usually use with my laptop and a USB game controller it works up until the quot new hardware has been successfully installed quot bubble pops up and then stops dead Additionally in Device Manager there is only one mouse present under the Mouse tab regardless of how many I have plugged in the one that was plugged in when I did my window s installation Thanks for any help I hope I wasn t too wordy I m really at a loss here nbsp

Hi everyone,

I'm currently running BitDefender 9 but it is going to expire in a few days time so I was after the new version. I downloaded the trial from the BitDefender website but when I tried to install it, I was told I needed to uninstall my current version.

I went to Add/Remove programs like usual but for some reason BitDefender is not listed. I went to BitDefender in programs and clicked 'modify, repair or uninstall' and it tells me 'this action is only valid for products that are currently installed'.

I have no idea how I'm meant to uninstall BitDefender 9 since it is not listed! The program is clearly running and installed so I have no idea why it would not be shown as a currently installed program!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What should I do to get all my programs shown in the control panel again?

Thank you,

A:installed programs not shown in control panel/programs

Do you have other users who are set to admin the system? Did you perform a system restore lately? Do all your drives show in "Computer"?

What you are speaking of seems like someone else is making changes you are not aware of. User created desktop icons would not be removed if a program was uninstalled or removed by a system restore. They would not link up to their .exe files though. Same if the drive is not listed.

Right click any icon in question and select properties. It will tell you the path that the icon is leading you too. Then, check that path. Make sure that the file it is supposed to execute is actually there.

If it is, you ran into a bug I have not sene since the early days of XP. Google '.ico not working' for a reg fix.

When I download a program & install it, sometimes it will show up in the Add/Remove Programs list, sometimes it won't. Why is that? And how do I remove a program that doesn't show up in the list? Thanks.

A:Why Don't All Installed Programs Show Up In Add/Remove Programs List?

Depends how the application was written and what installer the author used.

If it does not show up in Add/Remove programs, it should have an "uninstall" file in the program's directory which would achieve the same thing.

I've got a problem that is showing up in 2 ways.

1. I'll install software such as Windows Virtual PC and the folder will show up in the programs menu, but the folder will be empty. How does the software get installed but the program icon not added to the software folder? Screenshot is help2.jpg. Notice the Windows Virtual PC folder is empty.

2. I'll install software such as the Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express and an icon to start the program is in the folder, but nothing happens when it's clicked. Screenshot is help1.jpg.

What is going on? What do I do to get software installed with icons in the folders? I go into windows explorer and cannot find the programs.

A:Installed programs won't show in programs menu

Hi kokopoko,

at least in the case of Virtual PC I can tell you with some certainty that a reboot will complete the installation and populate the empty folder with shortcuts.

You might notice the little yellow shield in your "Shut down" button. That's Windows' way of telling you that an installation isn't yet complete and requires a restart.

As for Visual Studio, I'm not sure but I notice you have VS 2008 installed. The 2010 Express version might conflict with it, but I don't really know as I'm not familiar with Visual Studio.

But first things first: reboot.

Some (3, out of maybe 20) of my installed Programs, all working perfectly well, are not listed in Control Panel -> Programs and Features.

Any ideas on how to rectify this, please?

Thank you.

A:Some installed Programs not listed in Programs and Features...

Some programs do not really "Install" by using normal installation process by writing entries in the Registry and so don't show up as uninstallable. "Portable programs" are an example. If they don't have Uninstall.exe (or similar file) in it's folder, you can just delete folder and shortcut.

Okay, here goes.

I'm working on a laptop (XPpro) that won't install the available windows updates. It downloads them and then tries to install each one and fails. I then get a list of the updates that were not installed with the ever helpful message "updates were unable to be successfully installed". I pulled the error 0x8024200e out of the windowsupdate.log file.

I have

1) tried tgal's advice in post #10 from http://forums.techguy.org/t351188&highlight=updates+unable+successfully+installed.html

2) tried justfoo's advice in post #13 from http://forums.techguy.org/t328556&highlight=updates+unable+successfully+installed.html

3) tried renaming the "Software Distribution" folder in the WINNT directory to "Software Distribution Old" and attempting update again.

None of these have solved the issue.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks,

Raeli

Have you tried the system file check:
Click Start > Run > Type in "sfc /scannow" without quotes and click ok (you need to have the Win XP CD in the CD-Rom).

The other thing to try is the Beta Update Page: http://update.microsoft.com/

Hi, I hope someone can help. i went to uninstall a program via programs and features and noticed that the list and icons only showed 8 programs installed ,i'm certain there is normally around 70-80.

Everything appears to function as before so i assume the programmes are there hidden somewhere and not uninstalled.

Has anyone come across this before?. i'm running windows 8.1 32 Bit.

I once found a way to find out the date (and time!) that Windows XP was installed on a system. It was a command that you typed in and it returned with this information.

I can't for the life of me find this again! I've trawled and can't lay my hands on it.

Is anyone aware of this, or another way, to get this information out of Windows???

Thanks in advance.

At first i'm having trouble in finding the programs after i installed it. Then i found it very hassle when i need to search it to start and type the word that i installed. Is there any way that there's no need for me to search it and move to start screen? Thanks in advance

A:Where could i find my new installed software

Hello Astorre, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Normally when you install a program, it will automatically pin a shortcut of that program to the far right of your Start screen. You may need to scroll all the way to the right on your Start screen to see it.

If it doesn't, then you can navigate to the .exe file of the installed program, and "Pin to Start" it to have one.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

My house was recently burgled and they took my external hard drive. I've had it for years so have lost all my paperwork for it. I want to be able to give my insurance company accurate details about it but can't remember anything including make, model, or size. Is there any way for me to find some or all of this info on my computer? I have an Inspiron running Windows 7. Thanks for your help.

Yesterday i bought a new motherboard MSI G41M-P26 and i reinstalled windows because of this problem (im using win8 release preview) i installed Realtek (everything went fine) and i restarted my pc, after that i couldn't find the realtek icon anywhere, even on the program files the realtek folder is empty there are only 2 files (RtlUpd.exe can't even run it, and USetup.iss) the HDA folder is empty also. I reinstalled it many times, tried various versions of Realtek, it's not even on the Task Manager. It seems like it's installed but i can't run it. I have everything up to date, Please help me, it's really important for me to use realtek.
PS : i have the sound in case you were wondering. But i need realtek. It has so many good options and i'm using a 5.1 home theater.
I didn't have this problem with my old motherboard, and it was also MSI.
Sorry for my bad english.

A:Realtek is installed but can't run it nor find it on the pc.

Hi AceZero and welcome to W7 Forums

That motherboard has VIA audio installed, specifically the VT1708S codec. Drivers for other codecs, including Realtek, will not work with your setup. Sorry.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I am supposed to have AVG Internet Security 2011 installed on my computer. When I boot up, the User Account Control asks if I want to allow AVG to run. It says it's installed on my hdd. I say yes. When I go into the hdd, I cannot find AVG anywhere except in the folder Program Files(x86). And the actual executable is not in there, just a few odd files. I have a feeling that the installation might have been interrupted, but every time I try to continue or reinstall it nothing happens after the file extraction hits 100%. It is not in the control panel applications, and when I search for it, nothings shows in the results. I don't know what other information might be pertinent. I am tired, and I have been working at this for a while now.

A:Cannot find a program that says it is installed

Run the AVG removal tool: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-toolsAVG Remover eliminates all the parts of your AVG installation from your computer, including registry items, installation files, user files, etc. AVG Remover is the last option to be used in case the AVG uninstall / repair installation process has failed repeatedly.Download a fresh copy & reinstall (if you still want AVG) http://www.avg.com/us-en/download

An ex coworker of mine installed Windows 7 Pro on a pc for one of our clients, which was never activated. Now it's 30 days later and it's asking for the key. The sticker with the Windows 7 Pro OEM key on the side of the box is rather illegible. I input the key in an attempt to activate, but it fails. My issue is I don't know if I'm putting in the wrong key or the Windows 7 Pro that was installed is not OEM version. Is there an easy way for me to tell if it is OEM or not without having to reinstall?

Thanks in advance,

-Dan

A:Solved: Need to find out if the Win 7 that is installed is OEM or not

Not asking you to post the results here (just lazily copying a standard post). In the output look at the Product ID Type.

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:
Download MGADiag to your desktop.
Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
Click "Continue"
Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

I hope I'm in the right forum, this could be a hardware issue. I have a brand new HP DV6000 laptop w/Vista installed. (I couldn't get it with XP) I purchased an identical hard drive & swapped them. When I try to install XP it gets to the point where it asks do you want to install? When I hit enter I get a screen telling me setup cannot continue because setup did not find any hard drives installed. I have another HP DV6000 with XP Pro so I tried that hard drive but as soon as it tries to boot it blue screens with a fatal system error & wants to reboot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the last couple of days, I had to finally upgrade my HDC from, an AHA-19160 to, an AHA-39320. Prior to doing that, the BIOS on the 19160 stopped seeing the HD while, XP Pro could find it. Now, Since I upgraded the HDC, the new HDC sees' the HD but, when I try to do a fresh install of XP Pro, it cannot find the HD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Christopher

I am having a problem with windows XP, when I try to enable fast-user switching it gives me an error that says I need to uninstall NetWare to use fast-user switching.

I searched and I found out that to uninstall NetWare I need to go to Network Connections > Choose my connection > Properties > Highlight the Client for Netware entry > Click Uninstall

And the problem is I can't find the "Client for Netware entry", all I see is this:
Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
QoS Packet Scheduler
Microsoft TCP/IP Version 6
So What can I do to uninstall NetWare?

And I don't even know how it got enabled, maybe the virus that infected the computer?

thanks.

In the BIOS it says find says installed can't it! PEG but BIOS card that there s a PEG card installed and I need the CD that came with it to get it to work But I don t have the CD and I need to know what card actually is so I can attempt to get the software to turn it on I m not even sure if turning it on is a good idea But otherwise all I have is a graphics chipset with about MB of memory on it BIOS says PEG card installed but can't find it! I can t afford a new card plus this is a Dell small form factor computer It BIOS says PEG card installed but can't find it! s hard to get hardware for it because of the lack of space in the case plus I m not sure if s standard card would even work with a Dell computer I got my quot X-Plane quot flight simulator to run reasonably well with only that chipset after installing gigs of system memory but I think I m very close to overloading thing As far as I can tell there s no option in the BIOS to tell me anything else about this card or how to find out what card it is I can t find an quot advanced quot menu in the BIOS either Any help will be very much appreciated The computer is a Dell Dimension c running XP Home Blame my wife for the chipset and the small case I can t ask Dell about this because they want a zillion bucks just to ask a question My warranty has expired nbsp

A:BIOS says PEG card installed but can't find it!

Sounds to me like the integrated graphics chip uses PCI Express bus.

A:Can not find new installed Hard drive

You probably forgot to partition the drive so you can actually use it. What OS are you running?

my desktop is Dell Dimension 8400. I replaced the SATA with a new one (seagate). The computer recognised the HD in both BIOS and chkdisk. I partitioned it to 2 NTFS parts, and set the primary active (used PQMAGIC, a very old version back to year 2000). Then I run boot from CDROM, and windows setup showed "SETUP DID NOT FIND ANY HARD DISK INSTALLED IN YOUR COMPUTER. ... SETUP CANNOT CONTINUE, PRESS F3 TO QUIT SETUP".

I don't know how many times I have got this message. Can anyone help me please. Thanks a lot.

A:windows setup cannot find installed HD

Have you tried copying the Sata disk drivers to a floppy/cd and pressing F6 just after the setup starts... remember that windows needs this extra drivers to "see" the disk.

I can't vouch for chkdsk, but the Bios would see the disk regardless if it could access it or not.

Hello Gurus!

I am loading Server 2003 on my server. I just bought Segate SCSI U320, its 73gig SCSI HD. I did Ctrl+A >>selected Disk Utility>>Selected my HD & formatted it. I went back into Array Configuaration Utilities & Initialized the disk & Rebooted. Once booted it finds the HD and then goes to the CD rom to load windows Server 2003. I hit F6 to load the drivers (not sure what SCSI drivers to load but I think SCSI 2960 drivers) The floppy was in and it took the drivers and then next thing you know it says:
Setup did not find the HD installed on your PC. I had to hit F3 to quite.

How can I resolve this issue. Am I downloading wrong SCSI Drivers? If yes what kind should I get and how do I know which one to get for that specific HD (ST373307lw)

this is the introductions forum....a place to introduce yourself, not your problem.

many forums have "stickies" posted at the top of them...it's a good idea to read them: they have a lot of valuable information

i'm moving this to a forum where you should get some help. feel free to return to the introductions forum if you'd like to start a thread and tell everyone a bit about yourself.
