Laptop’s internet via tethering gets dropped when connects to Ericsson MiniLink

Q: Laptop’s internet via tethering gets dropped when connects to Ericsson MiniLink

Dear Experts

My Windows 7 laptop connected to internet via my mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 by tethering portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

I am a technician field and I need to connect my laptop via USB port to an Ericsson MiniLink (telecom NE) node to do configuration.

https://mazrilhisham.wordpress.com/2004/01/01/traffic-node/#jp-carousel-241

Whenever I connect the USB cable from the laptop to Ericsson my internet gets dropped, while this didn?t happen to my coworker who is using the same laptop brand as mine.
By the way the Ericsson software that I installed on my laptop create the attached socket called : "Ericsson USBLAN adapter" on my computer's network and that would be used for the USB communication

Any advice what should I do to avoid this problem
Thanks

Preferred Solution: Laptop’s internet via tethering gets dropped when connects to Ericsson MiniLink

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

How is the S3 tethered (Wi-Fi, BT, USB)?

In the Network Connection screen can you press the ALT key + N and select Advanced Settings.
Take a screen shot of the Advanced Settings screen and post in your next reply.

The title pretty much explains it. Everytime a laptop connects to my wireless internet, the internet connection to the main desktop with the modem/router connected to it, is dropped and won't come back up unless I restart my computer.

A:Internet connection dropped when laptop connects

Please show the following for a good connection and for after the connection has been lost.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Hello,
I just recently tethered my desktop internet through my laptop internet because my desktop doesn't have wifi. It was working for a while and now it's not and I can't seem to fix it. I have even tried connecting to a different wifi router. Any ideas?

A:Internet Tethering

Connect your desktop PC to the router with an ethernet cable instead of using the tethering method.

Okay I just got a new laptop, running Windows vista, Business Downgrade sp2. for college about a week ago. It was working fine. It came with Dell Connect program that organized connections and worked along side windows connections.

After about a day, I was surfing the internet and I realized that Firefox and IE would just stop connecting to any website at all and would end up timing out. So then I decided to delete Dell Connect via Add/Remove Prog. and it seemed to work for the time being. everything was peachy through Windows Connections.

Then it happened again. I looked into my windows connections and realized that although I was connected to my network but the Internet Connections symbol was gone and there was no Internet Gateway area. I found that disabling and re-enabling the network connection worked but I'm still trying to find a way or a reason why the internet decides to leave.

Brand new Toshiba Satellite. Have two other computers that connect with ease to the Netgear wireless router, but the new computer will not access the internet. I have been searching for answers and have tried about everything I can find nuder similar posts, but I still have not internet access. At varying times, I have had "internet access", but no actual ability to load websites. Right now, I do not even have access. I am at a loss. Even at my low level of experience, I am usually able to tinker until I fix the problem, but I am about four hours in and currently seem to have taken a step backward. I cannot even begin to explain what things I have already tried, so I think I just need to start over with any suggestions someone can think of. Thanks.

I am currently running winxp pro and had noted for a while that when I played games such as CoD:World at War, I would usually get kicked after a minute or so and get some error message about service communication failure.

I downloaded and ran punkbuster srv app and it said that everything was fine.

Recently we started using skype on-line and have noticed that I will automatically get kicked off somtimes after a minute or a few minutes.

I figure the two must be related.

Any help?

With absolutely no real information about the environment or the exact symptoms, not much help.

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Make and exact model and hardware version of any other network equipment, like a repeater, a booster, hi-gain antenna, etc.
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key:

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I run Windows Vista on a Dell PC. I have cable internet. I usually have 4-7 tabs open at once while talking on skype and have never had a problem until recently. I have started having problems with my internet connection being interrupted but it doesnt always affect all the tabs that are open. I have talked with my service provider and they say the problem is my ethernet cord so I changed it out, however, that has not solved the problem. I have checked all connections and they are secure. Any help is appreciated.

Hello
I have a Belkin N300 router and have checked my cables.
I do not know much about routers but after my ISP Comcast did much work on my end because we had a phone issue, I find I lose internet about every other day, or so.
I have my router set to WPA-2 and have a little knowledge of its settings.
I could, for example change the channel.
If you were a relative novice with routers what are some steps you would take to find the problem.

They have told me they have checked my modem after the phone issue and it is ok.

Should I remove the router or should I change the channel?
I live in a retirement townhouse so maybe someone else is on my channel, or something.
Thank you
Peter

I have a Compaq Presario V5000, a Belkin N Wireless Router (F5D8233-4v3), and connected to the internet with Telstra Bigpond using a Motorolla SB4200 SURFboard Cable modem. My OS is XP.
We have been using these for a while, with no problems, but a few days a go my internet connection unexpectedly dropped out. We have 3 laptops connected through a WAN and a PC connected straight to the modem, and the other computers are working fine. The actual wireless connection is fine, but I cannot use the internet. I have tried different programs (firefox, explorer, outlook, MSN) to see if it was the software, but am having no luck. The wireless connection is using an automatic IP address, authentication using WPA2-PSK, with AES encryption.
Please Help!! Very frustrating!!

Hello,

This is my first post so thanks to all in advance. I have a home network with wired pc's and wireless laptops.

My problem is this: when my laptop logs on to the network, all of my wired pc's lose internet connection momentarily and the connection is re-established quickly (I'd say less than a minute.) This is a real issue as we are a gaming family (WoW, Diablo and Call of Duty) and our connections get interrupted.

I've tried disabling all security (including wireless) and I've also tried giving it a static IP.

Once the laptop is logged is all is well but it is a real pain to have to wait for everyone to get finish their game before we can log the laptop on.

Any suggestions?

I have two WinXP-pro SR-3 machines on a LAN where they're normally linked to one another and the Internet via a D-Link DI-524 router. It works fine nearly always, but on occasion the LAN connection fails and the two machines cannot see one another, BUT they both can still access the Internet. By "see one another" I mean that Machine A can no longer print to the printer connected to Machine B, and Machine B cannot read the contents of shared directories on Machine A. NEARLY EVERY TIME when this happens, the background color of the start bar changes from Microsoft blue to a grey. Connection repair applications don't help. [Start|Settings|Network-Connections] .

Any ideas what causes this problem, and on how torecover without restarting the machine.

A:LAN connection dropped, Internet OK

How are you accessing the network share? By IP address or hostname? Better assign static IPs to your machines.

Hi, apologies for the delay we have been very busy lately.

Please download SilentRunners.vbs - Right click & choose Save As... SilentRunners.vbs

Before proceeding, disable any anti-virus or anti-spyware programs that may block/disable scripts

Launch SilentRunners by double-clicking the downloaded file. In the ensuing Window, select 'No' to avoid skipping supplementary searches. Please be patient as the script requires a few minutes to complete.

When it's done, you'll receive the prompt "All Done!". It will create a file called "Startup Programs". Post ALL its contents here in your next reply

On Monday the 22nd, my download speed dropped from 350 KB/s to a mere 20 KB/s. Only recently has it gone back up to around 100 or so KB/s. There have also been variations in speed - about 30-40 KB differences, as seen here:

I asked around, and was told to call my ISP. From there, I was told that the modem/router (it's an 2 in 1) was fine, and that the line test showed that the connection was fine (my ISP was able to detect a download speed of 3 megabits/s). I was told by my ISP that the problem might've been caused by something that I downloaded. The DSL is shared by both me and my cousin, and both of our computers receive the same download speeds. Would a reformat on both computers possibly remedy this problem, or maybe something else? Thanks.

Hi all I am new to the forum so please forgive me if I am asking a dropped connection Internet redundant question My internet connection via Embarq has been dropping offline quite Internet connection dropped a bit lately and I think it is because my IP address is being used by non-subscribers from overseas I called the ISP and told them about my connection dropping pretty much whenever I try to download anything and their simplistic answer was to release renew Internet connection dropped my IP address They didn t seem to care that their bandwidth the very bandwidth I am paying for and their IP s are being used by someone other than paid subscribers Whenever I lose my connection I Internet connection dropped run a traceroute and attempt to ping my gateway and it displays various names from quot akamai net quot no matter what URL or IP I am pinging I had this problem about a month ago and a website from Taiwan was coming up every time I pinged something I know this because I typed in the address in Internet Explorer and a foreign site came up and the URL had tw for the country domain I am thinking of switching ISP s asap since they don t seem to care that my connection is constantly down and they are seemingly being hacked Please help and let me know if there is something I can do on my end to stop this short of going with Time Warner Thanks alot Christina NC nbsp

Had to replace my SMC wireless router with Linksys BEFW11. My XP computer re-connected to the router and then on to the internet no problem. My W98 computer can connect to the router but cannot find the internet. Both PC use USB wireless adapters. I tried refresh and connect from the W98 PC but still cannot get to internet. I have not configured the router with WEP or MAC filtering (yet). Have I overlooked something on the W98 pc? I didn't have to change anything on XP regarding the adapter. What should I do to get the W98 to connect to internet?
Prior to the SMC router problem both pcs worked fine. Then the SMC router stopped broadcasting it's SSID and neither PC could find it so I lost internet access. DOn't know what happened to it but I had another Linksys router so I want to use it.

Hello,

My Vista Home Premium laptop connects to the internet via Belkin wireless router (please click here for pic) but when I try to use IE it says the page cannot be displayed

When I connected it using an Ethernet cable last week at university it did not work either.

I've been back to where I got it from and they were reluctant to help
Does anyone have any idea how I rectify the problem, as it was fine until a few weeks ago when I was trying to solve another problem

Thanks for any help in advance,
Darren

A:Internet connects but i cannot do anything else....

you need to configure ICS( internet connection sharing) on your pc.

its fairly handy just follow instructions in the help..this will configure your pc as the gateway and set your mates pc to obatin IP automatically

someone help me... my computer connects to the internet when ever it wants to.... how to i make it so that it ALWAYS asks before connecting.... ive tried all of my programs and i dont know whats making it connect every few minutes

A:internet connects when it wants to

You probably have a program running in the background that requires an internet connection, to make it ask you before it connects click on [tools], [internet options], then the [connections] tab and open up the dialup connection you have and uncheck the "connect automaticaly" box. That should make it ask you before it connects. You might also want to poke through taskmanager to see if you can find what program keeps trying to access the internet and making your computer try to connect.

A:Connects to internet by its self

Hi
Your log looks fine....but just a stab in the dark.I found this on the Find-a-Drug website......does this help.

How frequently does THINK connect to the internet?
You can control the frequency of planned connections in the Find-a-Drug control panel. If THINK completes all queued jobs, then an unplanned connection will occur if there are no molecules files from previous protein targets which can be re-used on the current target. If you select "When On-line" then no attempt to dial-up will be made. The "None" setting should be used when you wish to manually download jobs and upload results.

I have been connecting to internet thru an non-secured LAN for number of days. Then, I lost connection to LAN. I find the wireless LAN again, got an IP address, but couldn't connect to internet. After trying for a long time, hours, I restored XP Home to previous restore point, and then I got internet again. Any explanations as to what had caused the internet connection problem?
I use ZA but made no changes to firewall, ipconfig/all during the loss of internet did show LANs DNS and DCHP. Also tried numerous repairs to get a ip address and each time connection to LAN (router, LINKSYS) was good. Puzzled, but still connecting.

A:Connects to LAN but not internet

so its all working now

it could be spyware on the PC
or the firewall blocking

if it happens again try this
ipconfig /all

TWO Methods to do that - some people have problems with ONE----

ONE ---------------------------------
start
run
cmd
ipconfig /all

rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

TWO -----------------------------------------------

Start, Run, CMD to open a DOS window and type:

IPCONFIG /ALL >C:\RESULT.TXT

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.
NEXT lets see if you can get out onto the internet with both names and IP's - its possible the IP number you get back on the first test is different to the one I post {I'm in UK} so use the number you get instead of mine

------------------------------------------------
try ping the name and then the IP see below

start
run
cmd

Hi, I recently bought a Gateway NV5814u laptop and it was eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7. Before upgrading to Windows 7 the laptop connected to the internet flawlessly. Now after I upgraded to Windows 7, it will connect to the network, but will not work.
Here are the things that I've tried to attempt to fix this problem:
Uninstalled the wireless card built into the laptop via Device Manager.
Upgraded the driver for the wireless card to the newest version. Downloaded the driver from Intel's website and Gateway's website.
Disconnected, reconnected, re-entered the WEP key.
I went to my friends house who has a wireless internet and still the same things happen.
Now, I can connect in Safe Mode w/ Networking, but thats it.
Any ideas? I've been working on this for days and cannot seem to figure out whats going on.
Thanks for any help!

A:Connects, but no Internet

Most all of us agree that an upgrade is not the route to take. It leaves useless files on your system and can cause conflicts.which you are experiencing now.

Save all you Documents, Pictures, contacts, videos, music, etc to a flash drive,

Be aware, you will need to re-install your 3rd party applications.

Hi!

My MacBook works fine with my linksys router and RR internet. My wife's toshiba laptop running vista establishes a connection, but will not browse the net. My neighbor says she's having the same problem with her PC when trying to connect to my router (we live very close together).

I've tried the diagnose & repair and a few other fixes I've read online but no luck. Thanks forum!

A:Macbook connects to Wifi fine, PC connects but won't browse web

Hi.May we see:
Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous IPCONFIG command output! Do NOT type <computer_IP_address> into the command, that won't work. Also, the < and > in the text is to identify the parameters, they are also NOT used in the actual commands.

Do NOT include the <> either, they're just to identify the values for substitution.

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 8.8.8.8

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. (For Vista/Win7, the IPv4 Address)

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I have a dial-up Internet connection and use Windows XP Home Edition, with SP2. I am using a Dell E310 computer. Although I have my Internet connection set to never disconnect when idle, if I am idle for about five minutes, my connection is dropped anyway. I do not have a screensaver and I do not have any static on my telephone line. All connections are secure. I called my Internet service provider and they said they have not been dropping the connection. This disconnection is upsetting especially if I am reading something lengthy on the Internet or am writing a long e-mail. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it? Thank you for your replies.

A:My Internet Connection Is Dropped When Idle

Do you have more than 1 account on your computer?, What is the time limit set on your screensaver, is it on when you go AWOL for that time?

I do remind you it is DIAL UP so there might be issues with it just for that reason, However, Im not rushing to judgement

My wifi signal has suddenly dropped in the past week. It is definately a fault with my computer because my other computer works fine. It will often fluctuate from 1 bar of signal to 4 and back again.

A:My internet wifi has suddenly dropped! HELP!

First of all, welcome to BC !

Secondly, when posting it helps considerably if you give some details about the computer - make, model etc. !

However, if it is a desktop, the signal can be dramatically affected by the position of the aerial, or by any extraneous material coming between the aerial and the router. As an example, I use a wi-fi dongle on my desktop which sits at the front top corner of the side panel. If it slips down by as little as half an inch, I lose 25% of the signal.

If it is a laptop, again similar considerations apply. The position / angle of the laptop relative to the router, and any furniture which may have been moved around the house.

Have you noticed any particular occasions when the signal drops, or any correlation with what you are doing or where you are doing it ?

Soooo 3 days ago my internet speed dropped from 16mbps to 0.035mbps and I don't know what has happened its slow annoying and all of my other devices eg iPad and s4 are still running at 16mbps
My pc is running windows 8 internet is ran off a bel in wifi adaptor it has worked fine for ages and doesn't seem to be broken
Things I've tried: anti virus and anti malware program's which both have found lots of problems and apparently they have been removed but it still won't speed up

A:My internet speed has dropped and I think it was a virus

Would help a lot if you could give us the names of the security programs you used and better still would be if
you can post the logs of what those programs found and removed.

Did you use any program that advertises 'cleaning the registry'....'performance booster' ?

Reset your router and modem. Unplug both from the electrical wall outlets. Wait a minute then plug both back in.
If the speed still hasn't improved then bypass WIFI by attaching the computer directly to the router. Did that improve
the speed?

Recently, and apparently for no reason, my internet connection won't work. This happens usually after a period of inactivity on the computer, and I have to restart my machine. As soon as it powers back up, the internet is fine. Any ideas please? I'm running Vista Home Premium.

I moved into my new apartment two days ago and a technician came yesterday to install cable internet. After a few problems with my wireless router, everything seemed to work perfectly (27mbits/s download, 2mbits/s upload).

The next day, I come home from work, open my computer and this is what I get:
and this:
I called the ISP and they told me something was probably wrong with my modem. They're sending a technician tomorrow, but I wanted to ask you guys if there was anything I could try to fix it or if there were questions I should ask the technician when I see him.

Hello. Lately, I have been experiencing dropped internet connectivity. I have an Arris Modem connected to a Netgear Router that supplies our wifi. My modem has started rebooting itself, but not all the lights on the modem are lit. The Battery Light will go on, the DS (Downstream) will also go on, and then the US (Upstream) light will go solid, then begin to flash. No amount of hard-resets has fixed this problem, and I believe my router has no role in this problem. Thanks in advance.

A:Wireless connects but no internet

It seems that you have a good internet connection.
What site are you trying to go to ?
Can you ping that ?
The other thing you could try is disable all firewalls(windows and any third party suites) and see if that makes a difference.

I use Windows XP and IE 7 and cannot understand why my PC randomly connects to the Internet when I have disconnected and left the machine. I have requested that the machine goes in to standby after an hour (this does not always occur) and have set the IE option Always dial my default connection NOT Dial whenever a network connection is not present, however, my PC often, but not always, connects without my intervention why, when I do not want the PC to connect in my absence.
Can anyone shed any light on these unwanted connections without my having to switch off the PC.

I have spent hours researching this. I have totally uninstalled McAfee.

Hi, please help!!

I have a Samsung NC10 with an Altheros AR5007EG wireless network adaptor. I am able to connect to the router, which currently has my other laptop (a Dell XPS) connecting successfully to the internet. I have read through several forums and tried the following - updated the drivers, checked the admin services, disabled/enable the device, re-setup the connection, switched off power save on the adaptor etc. Running ipconfig through cmd prompt does have a blank next to the "connection-specific DNS suffix" - don't know whether that means anything.

I look forward to your response!

I have a Compaq pesario V6000. It already has an internal wireless adapter, however, ive encountered problems with it after a while, as the broadcom adapter no longer seems to boot.

To solve this, I decided to buy an external ASUS USB wireless adapter. Having installed the software, a wireless connection to my main computer - Access Point - (where the wireless router is connected) is establised.
I have disabled the Windows Wireless Zero Configuration allowing the ASUS utility manager to manage network connections.

However, sometimes when I launch the Internet browser the "Error, no connection message" appears even though a wireless connection is established with "excellent" signal strength.

Note: This occurs sometimes, whilst other times the Internet browser seems to connect straight away without any problems when a wireless connection is established.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks

A:No Browser Connects to the Internet

Start - type this in Search Box -> COMMAND find at top and RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN

Enter this at the prompt - sfc /scannow

Click "Start > Run." Type in "mrt.exe" minus the quotes. Click "OK."

Click "Continue" when prompted to by User Account Control.

Click "Next" to move forward in running the tool.

Click "Quick Scan" and then click "Next." Alternatively, you can click "Full Scan" to run a more complete, longer scan. You can also click "Customized Scan" to customize what the tool scans for, an option that's best suited for advanced users.

Wait for the scan to complete, which can take up to an hour

In the results box that pops up after the scan is complete, click "Remove" and then "Next" if the tool has found malicious software, which it will then delete. If it hasn't, click "Finish."

Hello!

Just purchased an HP dv5-1017nr at Best Buy today. I can't get the internet to work. It sees networks, excellent strengths, and even connects to them, but will not go to the internet. I tried two different houses. It shows that it connects to the network but stays stuck on "Identifying."

Exchanged for a new one being a noob, and this one does the same thing. I have a desktop and another notebook with Vista that works with my router, so any ideas why this isn't working?! I really need the internet for school that started on Monday (I'm a college student.) Here are some settings someone else asked for:

If you click here you can see how it says "Identifying." http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/6023/connectionnc5.jpg

I will try to explain the problem I m having and the solutions I ve tried none of which work First a little background I m an expat living in a foreign country Internet is very important for me here as without it I Laptop But Connects Internet to the Won't. One The Other One can t do any business or make any money Having said that I have two laptops the one I m typing this message on which uses Windows and an older laptop backup that uses Windows Vista Starting the other day the Windows Vista laptop will no longer connect to One Laptop Connects to the Internet But The Other One Won't. the wireless internet Up until the other day both computers connected fine Periodically the connection dropped because this isn t a first world country and the internet isn t totally reliable But now the Windows computer connects but the other will not Here are the things I ve tried I reformated the harddrive because I thought it might be a virus or malware I downloaded the latest device drivers for the network adapter I ve tried to automatically get new IP settings I ve tried resetting the network adapter I ve tried disabling antivirus to see if that was causing the problem I ve tried removing readding the wireless connection under network manager Despite trying the things above I ve been unable to solve this annoying problem I thought it might be the ISP but I ve ruled this out because my other laptop this one can connect to the net Windows Vista says there is no problem with the wireless network adapter This is also the second time this has happened with the Windows Vista laptop the first time it dropped and I tried everything finally gave up for the time being then it suddenly reconnected Now it has been down for over hours and it looks like it may never connect It is dangerous depending on a single computer to access the Internet here because if this computer is damaged then I have no access at all I need both computers online if this is a problem with the ISP then there is nothing I can do but I need to figure that out Finally the windows network diagnostic always tells me to quot reset the modem quot This is impossible as I m renting an apartment where wireless internet is included in the rent There is no modem available for me to reset Also calling the ISP is useless as the internet is included in this apartment and my name is not on the bill plus it is unlikely they speak much English so trying to get tech support from the local ISP is worthless nbsp

Just curious but why are you shutting it off? It may take that long for the modem to get DHCP/DNS from the ISP.

I am working on a friend's computer. She has Windows 7, woke up today and the pc had rebooted. I found lots of windows update installed overnight, not sure why she wasn't doing those all along.

I can get on the internet (Yahoo Messenger and chat programs), but when I open IE and type in a site, it says IE Cannon display the webpage.

I am at a loss on what happened. Could one of the windows updates caused this? I don't use IE, so I don't know where to begin.

Thanks.

A:Wireless/3G connects, but no internet.

The first thing I would check for is any malware, spyware, adware and Virus's on Pc in question. Then I would unistall printer software and check connection. If that doen't work then I would do a system restore to a point in time when it would connect, just to get it connecting to the internet.

I'm not sure what's going on. I try to troubleshoot my network connection and it comes up with "unexpected error" and error code 0x80131700.Even if I tried to restore I get a failure, so something is deffinatly wrong. I search and tried everything I could with no resolve. Wifi is working but when I connect bluetooth, it blocks the connection for both sources. I disconnect the bluetooth and wifi works again. Funny thing I noticed is when I connect to the internet with wifi alone, the little monitor icon on the tray on the bottom never says connected, I feel all these things are related to the same problem, it's just a matter of finding out exactly where my issues are being generated from.

A:Bluetooth connects but no internet

I can't really help with your problem but I can give a few tips.

The network icon in the taskbar is no longer animated, we all miss that, at least you knew it was working when that flashed, it's something you'd have to take up with Microsoft

What are you using for Bluetooth, is it a dongle that you connect via USB ? Do you use a modem or a router for your Internet connection, if so can you tell us the make and model, that way we may be able to help by making sure you have the correct drivers installed.

Please post back with as much information about your connection and I'm sure one of the experts will be able to help you, and welcome to the forum.

A:LED TV connects to router but not internet

That's a great set of pictures to illustrate the issue. As yet I've not bought a smart TV and your post has made me less likely to buy one. In your situation I'd try another factory reset for the TV and then set it up with a cable connection to the router. Assuming that goes well revisit wi-fi concentrating on the router settings.

I can updated apps access xbox live and get email via gmail but cant view websites cant stream. Ran router diagnostic it said all tests passed except atm/oam ping segment tests. I cant figure the issue my isp claim its not them and they don't know what is causing it. Any help please.

A:connects but cant access internet

It sounds like a DNS issue, and since it affects all the devices, there must be a common culprit, and in this case either the router or the modem, so you should backup the configuration file for your router and then do a hard reset of both.

So the best way to explain this is if im on the internet i wont really notice it because it happens so fast and im on the page also its wireless internet If i play for example league of legends il be fine then il be reconnecting then im back but the reason im reconnecting is because my connection dropped for a second IF i open say an online game and i then second a connects drops always for Internet open a stream watching someone Either the stream will turn off or the game will disconnect or ill get kicked from Internet always drops for a second then connects both Ive gone into command prompt and done ping google com and stuff sometimes its perfect then i do it again it misses with time out then i do again its perfect then Internet always drops for a second then connects again time out again time out then perfect its really annoying I recently started playing a new game and il be running then disconnect from the servers because my connection dropped for a second and ive rang bt and stuff have new hubs switch phone lines replaced filters still dont know whats going on IT happens so fast sometimes it doesnt even effect me but for games where you get instant disconnect when your connection drops thats where it is painful nbsp

Hi,

I got some type of virus on my pc, which i removed. But now IE no longer connects to the internet. It's weird cos programs like MSN can.

Oddly if i login as a different user on the pc, the IE7 can connect to the internet.

I have tried:
installing firefox, same problem
re-installing IE7, no help
Restoring IE settings, no help

Any help would be most appricated.

Mauro

A:IE 7 no longer connects to internet

Try repairing the winsock & tcp/ip stack.

If you have XP-SP2 or Vista, you should use the built-in repair for the WINSOCK and TCP/IP stack. If you have XP-SP1 or earlier (and any previous version of Windows), you should use the Automated WINSOCK Fix all Windows Versions. I've included all the resets here.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows Vista.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

A:Connects to wireless but not to internet

Some things you can try here, listed in the order you should try them.
For wireless connections, remove all the stored wireless profiles and search for networks. You'll have to enter the encryption key again, which is sometimes the issue for connection problems.
For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.
Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

Ok, setup is as follows: Dell desktop wired into O2 router/gateway (O2 service provider - Thompson Speedtouch I think is the make) also wired in are two buffalo linkstation drives a 250gb and 500gb.

I've recently bought a new laptop specifically for surfing, watching films and listening to music thats stored on my network.

Whilst the laptop connects straight away to the internet and it can see both Buffalo drives, it can't open any folders or even view the web interface controlling either drive.

This is driving me potty as I can see at least one of them on my Archos, access and play files from it and also no issues connecting with a Linktheatre network player.

Just can't understand why some devies are ok but my new laptop isn't even when I've switched off all the laptops security!!

Anyone any ideas?

Greetings all! My daughter has a Dell Mini 10 Netbook that will recognize the wireless network in our house (Netgear N600 wireless router), but for some reason it will not connect to the internet. It will say it is connected to our wireless network, but when I attempt to open a page, I keep getting the "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Web Page". The PS3, Ipods, other laptops, and other devices have no problem connecting to the internet. It's just the Dell netbook. Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I am using Quickbooks Pro 2005 on Windows XP Ie 7 (I believe). It was working fine then all of a sudden when I clicked on Write Checks in the Banking navigator it connects to my homepage on the internet and it won't respond to anything in Quickbooks or even on the internet page. I do not use any online services from Quickbooks and even if I did it shouldn't be doing this.
It makes Quickbooks (and the internet even if I open another tab) inoperable. I restarted the computer but thought I would ask the forum before I tried QB again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the infomation above those entries

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

For Windows 8
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop. Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
For windows version, XP, Vista, W7
Hold the Windows key and press R

Now type CMD

Now press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Hello!
I have a dlink wda 2320 wireless adapter in my desktop that had up to a week ago been working great with a dlink router, but I just moved and the router I now use is a Cisco/Linksys e3000. I can successfully connect to the router itself but cannot get to the internet. My two laptops (dell vista32, lenovo win7 64) and all other computers in the house have no trouble. I have reseated the card, deleted adapter/scanned for new hardware, and reinstalled/downloaded new drivers but all to no avail. How can I get to the internet?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you need more information about his computer let me know and I'll get it for you! Thank you already for your time and hopeful solution

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Apologies for the long delay in response. We have a large number of HijackThis logs to handle and it?s taking us longer to catch up. If you haven?t received help elsewhere already and still require assistance please perform the following:Download RSIT by random/random and save it to your desktop.
Double click RSIT.exe to start the tool and click Continue at the disclaimer.
When the scan completes it will open a log named log.txt maximized, and a log named info.txt minimized.
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of both here.

Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don?t hear from you in three days this thread will be closed.

My dear friends

I am using a Windows XP Pro system. I use to connect to the internet with dial-up connection. Recently, my connection started showing a strange behaviour. I can connect to the internet, but after a few seconds of establishing the connection the system automatically disconnects from the internet and prompts to redial. When I redial it connects again but disconnects too. The same thing repeats whenever I try to connect to the internet. I checked the settings, but everything was right (I didn't change them either).

What could be the reason for this problem? Could anyone help me solve it, please?

Regards.

Vinod

A:Connects to Internet,disconnects soon after

Mostly this kind of problem is caused by bad connection, usually every ISP has more than 1 phone number for their customers to connect to the internet, maybe the phone number you were using was busy, try to connect again using the other numbers. If you don't know the other numbers, call your ISP and ask for another number you can use to connect to the internet.

Greetings Cindy and to BleepingComputer's Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal forum. My name is Oh My! and I am here to help you! Now that we are "friends" please call me Gary.===================================================Ground Rules:First, I would like to inform you that most of us here at Bleeping Computer offer our expert assistance out of the goodness of our hearts. Please try to match our commitment to you with your patience toward us. If this was easy we would never have met. Please do not run any tools or take any steps other than those I will provide for you while we work on your computer together. I need to be certain about the state of your computer in order to provide appropriate and effective steps for you to take. Most often "well intentioned" (and usually panic driven!) independent efforts can make things much worse for both of us. If at any point you would prefer to take your own steps please let me know, I will not be offended. I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance. Please perform all steps in the order they are listed in each set of instructions. Some steps may be a bit complicated. If things are not clear, be sure to stop and let me know. We need to work on this together with confidence. Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems simply stop and tell me.When you post your reply, use the button instead. In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.When your computer is clean I will alert you of such. I will also provide for you detailed information about how you can combat future infections.I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so.===================================================Now that I am assisting you, you can expect that I will be very responsive to your situation. If you are able, I would request you check this thread at least once per day so that we can try to resolve your issues effectively and efficiently. If you are going to be delayed please be considerate and post that information so that I know you are still with me. Unfortunately, there are many people waiting to be assisted and not enough of us at BleepingComputer to go around. I appreciate your understanding and diligence.Thank you for your patience thus far. Please delete the existing copy of FRST from your computer then do this.===================================================Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)--------------------Download Farbar Recover Scan Tool for either 32 bit or 64 bit systems and save it to your desktop <<< ImportantIf you are unsure if you have 32 bit or 64 bit simply download and try one.
