Preferred Solution: windows wil not load nor will it load with installiation media

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I select Windows Media Player or "Play With" for any of my music nothing happens. I went into control panel and selected "turn windows features On or Off" and switched of media player, rebooted and then switched it back on again, rebooted again and it still won't work. I have a lot of other problems with my laptop too such as slow running, constant crashing and freezing, not starting up properly. I've done countless virus checks and not come up with anything. Most of these problems I've had since I bought the laptop but the media player has only just happened. If anyone can help me I'd be very grateful.

A:Windows Media Player won't load

Is the laptop still under warranty?

It doesn't sound good that you've had these problems since you bought it.

Did you buy it new?

Thanks

Everytime I try to open Media player 12 I keep getting the error message "The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 12.0.7601.18150 where 12.0.7601.17514 was expected." I've tried using the "turn Window functions on or off" function
but that didn't work. So I tried the Mr Fixit, that didn't work so I also tried going through the command prompt funtion using the "sfc/scannow" command and that didn't work! And now I can't turn turn Media player player back on in the "turn
Window functions on or off" function! So what would be the next thing to do? Does anyone have any ideas?
I'm running Windows 7
Thanks ahead.

I suggest that you run the scan once again, but this time with your Windows 7 installation DVD inserted. The scan should then be able to fix the corrupted files by copying the original version of these files from the DVD.
Alternatively, you could also fix the corrupted files manually by following the instructions at

A:Installed Windows Service Pack 3 Now Windows won't load past Windows Boot Load Screen

Hi sirdanceal0t,
I had a similar problem when Windows XP SP3 was released it was only designed for Intel processors, so if you have a AMD processor it will cause your system not to load, if you are running a AMD processor if i were you try and get back to the System Restore Point or if that fails reimage your pc and just before installing SP3 looks for the patch/fix for your processor model, then install SP3 and it should all be fine.

On the other hand if you have a Intel processor i woulldn't know what to advise.

Are you able to boot in safe mode? It seems like you might have a conflict with the program wanting to run at start up..
My first suggestion is to boot safe mode, then remove your AV.. See if that helps..
Also, do you have more than one anti-virus program installed?

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

Trying to watch my CBT Nugget videos as I have been doing all week long. I do pretty much the same thing on my desktop that I do on my desktop. Same applications, same settings just about, etc.

Well, I was watching a video earlier on my desktop for quite awhile (accessing it through the external HD locally attached to the desktop), and then I moved over to the laptop and tried accessing it again through the external (via share) that's connected to my desktop.

Worked yesterday, now today it's freezing.. I'll open the file and it'll play, but the entire application becomes inaccessible.

Actually, it just unfroze. But it seems like it does this upon load for the first 2 minutes, then it unfreezes itself. I already tried uninstalling/installing it again and didn't fix the problem

Hi,

One day all of the sudden I can't load Windows Media Player. I on the Task Manager to see what happened. Whenever I execute Windows Media Player 11, wmplayer.exe loads but goes off in a second. It's gone! What's happening?

Windows XP Service Pack 2
Windows Media Player 11.0.5721.5145 (WMP_11.061018-2006)
Windows Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16512 (vista_gdr.070625-1522)

A:Windows Media Player doesn't load!

Well, since no one replyed, I uninstalled Windows Media Player to revert to the old one. I went back to Windows Media Player 9 series. When I execute it, (finally) an error message appeared. Well, the issue was an old issue. I googled the error message and solved the problem. Later I installed Windows Media Player 11 again and it was fine.

Solution:
http://xperiencexp.blogspot.com/2005/06/windows-media-player-internal.html

Windows Media Player "An internal application error has occurred"

The Problem:-When you try to start Microsoft Windows Media Player, you may receive an "An internal application error has occurred" (or a similar) error message.

Cause:-This issue may occur if one or more of the Jscript registry key settings are incorrect. This behavior may also occur if the Jscript.dll file is missing or damaged.

Resolution:-

1.Click Start, and then click Run.

2.In the Open box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then click OK.

3.Click OK.

4.Click Start, and then click Run.

5.In the Open box, type regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and then click OK.

6.Click OK.

If either of the files do not register as expected, or if you receive an error message, the system file may be missing or damaged. To extract the missing file in Microsoft Windows XP, follow these steps:

1.Click Start, and then click Run.

2.In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.

3.Click Expand File.

4.In the File to restore box, type the name of the file that you want to restore.

5.In the Restore from box, type the path of the Windows XP .cab file where you want to restore the file, or click Browse From to locate the Windows XP .cab file.Note The Windows XP .cab files are stored in the I386 folder on the Windows XP CD.

6.In the Save file in box, type the path where you want to extract the new file, or click Browse To to locate the folder that you want.

7.Click Expand.

8.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click OK. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.
That's all!

Hello

I am trying to take some training videos at a website (www.bentley.com). The videos are in windows media player format embedded in IE. I selected 4 trainings. So these are in my favourite list. I launched the first video, a new window opened and it started buffering the video and then the video started.

I face a problem when I closed this video and wanted to go to the next one. A new window opens with windows media player embedded in the window but it doesn't do buffering to play. Interestingly, it still showing the title of the previous training that I closed. Looks like it is getting stuck in the memory.

I have been facing this problem for 5/6 days. I will really appreciate if someone can tell me in solving this issue.

I am using IE 9 on Win7 (64bit.

Thanks

Oh yeah, this all occurred after a friend open a email stating that some company was going to charge them for something. She replied to the email. Shut the puter off and restarted it later. It then tried to boot in safe mode I believe by her explanation.

This just started happening last night. Earlier that day I bought a 160gb seagate external HD at Fry's for 50 bux and was moving tons a files over to it (for about 3 hours). At one point I cancelled uploading and rebooted fine, but later that night my girlfriend did the same thing and rebooted and XP will not load... not in safe mode. I didn't install anything with the external HD as it was Plug n Play and I didn't install any new programs yesterday either...

I don't have a Win XP CD either (or boot disk). I guess my first action will need to be to buy Win XP and try a system recovery?

Is there any way to find out what is stopping it from loading?

I also switched the memory sticks with some other memory and that did nothing...

I'm at a loss :l

I can't seem to get Windows 7 SP1 to load a driver for an HP printer that is on my home network. My laptop sees it but won't let me make it the default printer or load a driver so that I can link to it wirelessly. I restored my laptop back to windows 7
because Windows 10 was moving too slow. I only have 4gigs of memory, and windows 10 probably runs better with 8gigs of memory.

A:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

When I start the game "DiRT", press enter, the message like that, saying, that load profile is aborted, appears. Why? What I did wrong? Is this a bug in the game? I dont want to create a new profile. I wanna go on, but I can't because of this stupid issue.

Im running windows XP SP2. 2.33 GHz / 1,98 GB of RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

I have a patch 1.2 installed to my DiRT.

Hope somebody will answer.

Looking for help I ve recently completed a new build and can only get WinXP to boot but not Win First my components ASUS P Z -V Pro MB Intel i K Kingston HyperX Ram GB KHX C C K GX GeForce GT used from prior WinXP, can New Pro Can't load but P8Z68-V ASUS load Win7 build, MB system Seagate Barracuda GB from prior Maxtor GB from prior PS is W not sure of brand off hand My hard drives were previously partitioned Can't load Win7 but can load WinXP, New build, ASUS P8Z68-V Pro MB as follows The Seagate had a primary GB boot partition with Can't load Win7 but can load WinXP, New build, ASUS P8Z68-V Pro MB Windows and the remainder as a backup partition The Maxtor has a small GB partition with Win XP as a back up in case of primary drive failure with the remainder of the drive used as my main data partition Assembly seemed to go fine but on first boot simply went to a black screen after post I flash updated to most recent Bios and disconnected the Maxtor drive At this point could get to the boot screen But no matter what option Can't load Win7 but can load WinXP, New build, ASUS P8Z68-V Pro MB I chose normal startup safe mode repair last known working configuration it would go to black screen with quot Starting Windows quot and would either hang here or sometimes the loading animations with the colored flags would just begin to start and then I d get a blue screen When attempting safe mode I would get a blue screen amidst loading drivers At this point I put in the Win installation disk Whether I select repair or new installation it will say loading files then go to blue screen after the quot Starting Windows quot displayed At this point I stripped the build down to complete barebones removed graphics card dropped down to stick of RAM disconnected all extra USB ports firewire etc I switched over to the Maxtor HD I went ahead and formatted the WinXP partition the MBR was messed up and attempted a reinstall of WinXP This went just fine and easily booted into WinXP I then added back in the RAM graphics card and extra ports and still booted into XP without a problem I switched back to the Seagate Win but still found I was unable to boot Win with the same hang or BSOD I again switched back to the Maxtor HD and thought I d try to format the XP partition and install Win on that drive After booting from the Win CD and selecting new install no luck-- again it states it is loading files then goes BSOD after showing the quot Starting Windows quot text I m stuck- for whatever reason the system doesn t seem to agree with Win I m guessing either a MB or Bios issue I m hoping some bright soul out there will have some insight or ideas Thanks much for reading and sharing any thoughts you may have Cheers- nbsp

OK, I am not following was this an existing win7 install that you expect to boot with a new mb OR did you clean install win7 with the new board?

Hi,

Laptop is a Samsung R510 running Vista.

When it is switched on, it gets stuck on the Samsung BIOS load screen. The F2 (Setup) and F4 (Recovery) buttons don't work unless they are pressed straight away. But when they are pressed it says 'Please Wait', but nothing happens.

I have changed the CMOS battery, but it hasn't helped.

I have also taken the hard drive out and turned it on, still the same.  Each RAM stick has been tried on its own, and it is still the same.

Can anyone help?

I have always worked in Chrome. My work page won't load anymore, as of last week. I tried it in Internet Explorer, and then tried FireFox. Chrome and Internet Explorer both say the problem is with the site, not with my computer or my firewall. FireFox says the site may be busy and can't be contacted. Every other employee, including my husband's computer in the next room, can load this site.
I have tweaked my proxy settings to allow automatic connections. I have disabled Kaspersky and Ad Mucher. I have done three progressively early system restores, to times when I was able to load the web page. I have turned the computer on and off after each new fix I tried. Nothing has worked.
Any suggestions?

A:Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

Either it's a problem server side for them, which would be an issue with your IP,
or a process/service altered some of your core system settings on your end which blocks the microsoft website for some reason....., you can try a different IP address just to make sure it's not server side for them, and then if that doesn't work I am not sure what to tell you other than reinstalling all browsers, and eventually refromatting if reinstalling browsers does not work.

IF it is an IP issue it could be something with your network, if a network admin blocked the microsoft website, or even theoretically your ISP if there was a strange issue with them, however that would be rare.

Greetings gurus. Internet trouble. As the title says, my mail will not load in any browser. Page load is very slow and most things time out at least once. AT&T ran line tests on DSL and everything was clean. Not sure how this could be. Speedtest was run many times and no probs. I even did some gaming which strains everything with no problems. I'm open to the possibility of a virus. Ran Avira and MBAM but haven't gone further. Strangely the wife's Facebook games are a no-go. Also, wireless devices work fine. Heeeeelp!

Im having this issue when I go to my Music folder/library in windows there is either no album art (in this case no icons in place of the album art either to suggest if its an mp3 or what not), or it takes a really long time for the album art to load on every peace of music. I have also tried to search on google about this problem. No luck probably because I'm rubbish at searching

ill really appreciate it if someone can help me out.

Here is a screen shot about what I'm on about ---->

Text in image: Files that have no album art still have the file type icon on them.

Welcome aboard, ksbansal

If you dont have adequate RAM/free RAM to generate the arts, it happens. Let us know the size of your ram, and you need to run this test, too.

Do you have an external DVD player? Try with that . the same thing happened to me just last night when I tried to install on my Lenovo notebook (4 yrs. old) Same exact message. Using external player worked for me. EDIT: internal player works now. Win 8 must have the correct driver.

Hello everyone, thank you so much in advance

i recently built my first pc and thinking it would be an epic replacment to my old one i have instead been frustrated by BSOD and cant figure it out myself so i came hear for help.

most of the times i get it i am playing something like Far Cry 3 but i occasionaly get it playing alot less demanding games like Wow or even just streaming movies.

i have corsair h100i for my cpu cooler and i noticed my asus z97-k was reading at 118c so i thought maybe that was it and purchased 4 sp120 to load my case with to increase the airflow on the motherboard but it still runs at 118c and im still geting the BSOD

i have attatched a bunch of dump files

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

OS XP HOME. When I try to load macromedia flash player it says sucessfully loaded. Then I go back to the site that requires it again and it says need to load macromedia player. What is going on?

A:Solved: Macro media won't load

Hiya

Check to see if the player is working okay here:

test Flash Player

However, is it just one site that you go to, that says you need to install it? The reason I ask, is it may be the site, not your player:

Always verify if problems are not actually due to problems with your Flash Player, but possibly only occurring with one particular web site. Try viewing other Flash content (for example, Adobe).

Many developers create detection schemes to determine if viewers have Flash Player installed. If there is an error in the detection scheme, you may be advised that you need to update or install Flash Player even if you already have the latest version installed and working properly. This problem with detection is beyond your control, and can only be addressed by the creator of the web site. Contact their web master for assistance.

Some performance issues are related to the way content is created. A well-optimized web site may perform better than others. These differences in performance are beyond your control, and can only be addressed by the creator of the web site. Contact their web master for assistance.

I used maleware bytes to remove several trojans my son had picked up on my computer. It removed them all except two. Said I had to restart to remove those two. When I did, I got the bsod saying windows error, windows has shut dow to prevent damage. After 4 times of restarting, it now skips that screen and gives me a message saying windows could not start because file is missing or corrupt. Windows root system32\hal.dll. Please reinstall a copy.

This thing with not boot up in any mode. Safe mode, will not go back to last known good configuration, nothing. My media center disk will not work. It got wet. I burned a copy of hal.dll, but, it will not open it or do anything when I put it in and turn the machine on.

Is there anything I can do?

Hi guys,
I have a 3 year old Dell e520 running XP media edition ver 2002 sp2

Windows Media center no longer loads. It just hangs the system up until I get bored and reboot.

In Oct 09 though I went through a major virus infection, was unable to boot windows -the geek squad couldn't either- bought a new drive, formatted then installed win xp from the install disc

I finally got around to putting my Music CD's on the computer in MP3 format, when doing so I realized that Windows Media Center wouldn't load so I used media player instead, Now I'd like to get Media Center back, without doing a repair install if possible.

I never checked Media Center after the Windows install so the problem may go back to that.

Can I do anything like add/remove programs or is it integrated into XP?

Any Ideas???
Bob

A:Media center dosen't load

It's intergrated into the system. A repair install should get it back.

This is a good guide to performing a repair install

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88...all-vista.html

The repair install should not effect the data or applications, but a backup before performing one is a good idea. You will have to reload Service Packs and Windows Updates that were released after the level of the disc you use for the repair

I upgraded to WMP 11 a few months ago. It takes a solid 1/2 minute to fully load. By that I mean the window opens immediately, but the drive futzes around for another 1/2 minute doing who knows what. When it's doing that, if I click on, say, an FM radio station I want to listen to, then click the minimize button, it takes about 1/2 minute for it to start playing and minimize. In the meantime I can't work on what I was doing before I decided I wanted some music.

I unchecked the Player option to "Connect the the Internet" thinking that might have been the reason, but that does nothing. Anybody know why it is so slow compared to 10?

My brother uses an old Windows XP Media Center, which has been running fine for about 3 years now. The last time I remember dusting inside the desktop was about a year ago.

Just yesterday, however, it refuses to operate. I would turn it on, and everything seems fine. However, it gets to the screen where you see the Microsoft logo, with the loading bar right below it (it's the screen right before you see the Welcome screen w/ all the users), and then suddenly the blue screen pops out for 1/2 a second, and the PC restarts.

I let it restart for about 7 times; crashes at the same exact spot. I tried to do a full recovery, but it failed with an error of some sort.

Right now, I'm assuming somehow the hard drive died... But is there any way to confirm? Thanks for any help!

A:XP Media Center Can't past load screen?

Did you get a BSOD? If yes, were you able to get the error?

Also have you tried Safe Mode? If it works in Safe Mode, have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

I looked for a better forum to put this one in but this was only logical one I could find, sorry if not..

Anyway I have VLC Media player installed on my comp. and when I first started using it, it would take about 3-5 seconds to load the avi movie and start playing right away, well about 3 months ago or so I would try and play the avi file and it would take about a minute or more to load vlc and then like 15 seconds more for the movie to start playing, and I have un-installed and re-installed the program, gone to start-programs-videolan- quick settings- reset all settings, and that still didnt help... any suggestions on how to fix this problem and why it might be doing it now when it was working fine earlier on? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Your graphics card may be irrelevant. My PC was working fine Thursday morning (1-Sept-2011) , I have made no equipment changes, but when I switched on Friday 2nd I get the same error as you; although it will boot if I use the "last known good confiruration" option. Have tried restoring to my AM 1-Sept-2011 configuration settings (restore point) but this makes no difference. My neighbour has also experienced an identical problem, hos worked morning of 1st sept but failed to boot in the evening; suspect a faulty update; do you have automatic Windows updates turned on? Are you using Mcafee virus protection or Firewall?

Try running a ping to the sites that have trouble loading to see what kind of connection times you are looking at. I would also run a tracert to those sites to see if there are any places dropping the connection.

A:Doesn't Always Connect And Pages Don't Always Load Or Load Right

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, this forum is very busy right now.

There is a program from a company called SearchHelp, Inc. on this computer. Sentry at Home or Sentry Remote. From the information I can gather on the Internet, this is a legitimate application aimed at allowing parents control over their children's web surfing habits. Judging by some of the lines in this log it uses a proxy server and several other techniques to filter internet content. This might explain why you have trouble connecting to some web sites.

If you are the owner of this computer and installed this program, I would suggest disabling it temporarily to see whether your problems persist.

Whether they do or not, post a fresh HijackThis log along with the results of this test.

Dave

Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the HJT Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you be patient while awaiting a reply and refrain from asking for help elsewhere. If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Team Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. I use firefox as my browser. Lately some websites either won't load or take in upwards of 20 minutes. My virus scanner keeps catching virus's. I have run my virus scanner(CA VIRUS SCANNER), ad-aware, spybot, spysubtract, and superantispyware, they all cuaght something the first run through but now come up clean. i then browsed the forums here and found a similar post. I tried some of the suggestions there, which were to repair my network connection in the control panel, and to set firefox's network connection to autodetect, these seem to have helped but some sites are still slow particularly pogo games(my wife)pogo.com loads up fine it's the popup game windows that have the problem. thanks for any help.

A:Alienware won't load past XP load screen

Pay more attention to your typing...

Your going to have to strip down the system to bare minimum hardware. Set the bios to failsafe defaults, use on-board video if you have it. Remove any USB devices and any add-in PCI cards like a NIC, sound card and use only 1 stick of RAM for the Windows fresh install

I've had a subscription to the online version of USA Today since and rarely had a problem viewing it A few days ago I began having a problem I can login OK but the newspaper won't display This happens on PCs one desktop the other a laptop Both PCs run Win Pro SP x The problem also happens using load.js save you open from to or load.exelator.com? want Do both IE and FF Normally I run the MVPS hosts file on both PCs Because Do you want to open or save load.js from load.exelator.com? I had updated the hosts file a few days ago as well I decided to put back the default MS blank hosts file to see if perhaps the new hosts file was blocking something USA Today needed With the default MS hosts file I got a different result as shown in the screen shot below That prompt at the bottom took me by surprise so I Googled it I got many hits for load js from loadm exelator com described as a Redirect Virus I'm assuming the one I'm receiving is related I clicked on cancel The USA Today newspaper still did not display Any idea where this file is coming from Any ideas why I can no longer view the USA Today online I run Norton Security on both PCs I've received no Norton warnings about any virus I also ran full scans with Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware on both PCs and Do you want to open or save load.js from load.exelator.com? they were clean

A:Do you want to open or save load.js from load.exelator.com?

This problem is screwy.  From about 7am-11am this morning, I was getting the same result shown in my opening post.  Then, sometime after 11am, it started working, mostly.

With the MVPS hosts file loaded, the newspaper displayed normally:

With the default MS hosts file loaded, the newspaper displays, but again with the load.js asking to be opened or saved.

I clicked on cancel.

Wonder how long it will continue to load properly.

Sure would like to know where that load.js is coming from and if it is malicious or not.  Just for chuckles, I downloaded the 1k file and opened it with Notepad.  Here is what was in the file:

document.write('<img src="https://load.s3.amazonaws.com/pixel.gif" width="0" height="0" />');

Just started two-days-ago. Mozilla 1.5.0.7 and IE 6.0.2900. I did a system restore back for two weeks to no avail as "nothing changed."

Mozilla and IE, through Mozilla, either takes long to load or no load. If it does load does so without .gifs or some links. Some links are broken. Some will load the login page fine then freeze on the next page.

The perplexing part is that it affects only a few pages but not the whole site: my hompage, Nasdaq.com; ebay.com (after the login page), espn.com takes a while, 240 sec, to load then only partially load.

Network fine, signal strength fine, I've killed Symantec, no difference. Switched to Windows firewall, no difference. Killed Adblock, no diff. Ran Spyware Doc, nothing; NAV scan, nothing.

I'm lost. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance.

By the way, "It's not a tumor", said in my best Kindergarten Cop, Schwarzenegger voice.

A:Mozilla Freeze On Load Or No Load On Some Pages

Ive been having the same problem. Im with Virgin and they were useless with the advice they gave. Try reinstalling your modem. My line has recently been upgraded to 8.1meg from 2.2 and i think the modem hasnt quite got the hang of it being this quick yet. It seems to work for a while but my line keeps changing. At first it ran at 7.6 and the problems with pages started so i reinstalled the drivers from the disk and it shot straight upto 8.1. Its been a pain for the past few days with some sits(even my homepage of Virgin) so i reinstalled it again and all the pages now come up.

A:Web pages wont load or load completely

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

It completely freezes up. Worse yet, other users on this computer are having no problem using internet explorer when they are logged on to their side of XP. Why is it that when im logged on to my user name on XP that internet explorer wont work? I need help quick as all my favourites are saved in IE and I need to access some pages very soon. Im using firefox right now, and absolutely hate it. Please help me.

I m posting this here because I Laptop Solved: Load from Media Bootable Won't GUIs suspect the issue might be related to the partitioning I ve done using a bootable program called Boot It NG Before I begin I d like to say that I m quite familiar with computers but this has simply stumped me because I m slightly unfamiliar with the partitioning and formatting of hard drives When I refer to Solved: Laptop Won't Load GUIs from Bootable Media my laptop it s a Sony Vaio VGN-FE E which originally came with Windows Vista installed I previously replaced Vista with a presumably beta version of Windows which I received via an ISO issued to me legitimately through MSDN Academic Alliance I think it s important to note that the Windows DVD I created from the ISO file worked fine on the initial installation and I never once had trouble with Windows as an operating system Ok so one night I went to sleep I can t remember if I left the laptop on or turned it off The next day which just so happened to be the first day of the semester I turned my laptop on at the campus hoping to get some homework finished and instead came to a blank screen with the backlight still on after the usual Vaio Splash Screen and a usual brief blinking cursor I was frustrated so having no idea what to do I put in my Windows DVD in and rebooted hoping to re-install Win All I got was a blank screen after the CD DVD drive stopped spinning Since I wasn t too concerned with losing all my data I put in my Boot It NG bootable CD It booted just fine I proceeded to wipe my hard drive completely What appeared on the list of partitions was that all or so GB was listed as quot Free Space quot I wasn t sure if I was supposed to create a partition or not I could ve made a partition as HTPS NTFS which is what Windows uses as a file system or I could ve made an Extended partition which included a volume When I would create those partitions they would always say under properties that the partition could not be booted from because of its location - whether I left free space before the said partition after or both The Extended partition leaves MB of free space before the partition I really don t know enough about the differences between the types nor what to do with a blank hard drive but I thought quot When you get a fresh hard drive there are no partitions and it is all free space so why would I need to partition it quot I also found it peculiar that I couldn t format the partitions if I created them - so I thought I d leave it up to Windows once I got the disc to load Also I don t know anything about the Master Boot Record or the Extended Boot Record so I didn t touch them After wiping the hard drive clean I thought I would be able to use my Geek Squad-issued Sony VGN-FE E Restore Disc of -- which also works on my desktop without a problem -- to at least put Vista back on so I could get my school work done at school What happens when I put in the Restore Disc is that the drive spins for about minutes with a blank screen the drive stops spinning and the Windows scrolling bar shows up near the bottom of the screen That goes away after about seconds and then there is nothing but a blank screen again I left it at that blank screen to see if anything else would happen but nope - no activity at all This is the part that I find really strange if I put in my Windows XP Home Upgrade disc the laptop loads the disc just fine and I can see the loading screen The Win disc and the Restore Disc both have a simple grey loading screen quot Windows is loading files quot when I boot them on my desktop but not on the laptop I can t figure out why I can see the Restore Disc s Windows scroll bar but not the grey loading screen just before it I have come to this conclusion the laptop cannot load complicated newer GUIs but it will load simple older DOS-like interfaces I did not install the Windows XP update although I could because I have a Windows disc - I d rather have Windows again I don t understand what... A:Solved: Laptop Won't Load GUIs from Bootable Media

UPDATE:

I was hoping to get at least some operating system up and running, so I tried the Windows XP Home Upgrade. I chose to format the entire drive, and let it reboot when it was finished. One interesting thing I noticed is that Windows thinks I have ~131GB, whereas Boot IT thinks I have ~151GB. I'm not sure which is correct.

Anyway, the system rebooted and I got a blank screen again. I'm pretty sure that's because the XP installation, upon reboot, loads a GUI. I heard the disk spinning and the hard drive doing things for a while, then they slowed to a stop again. I'm thinking it's sitting at the screen where I have to enter information.

Could this be due to a graphics card failure? I have an onboard Intel 945 Express Chipset which came with the Vaio. I haven't had any problems with any hardware since I got it.

I have two HP 15 laptops for my kids. Purchased 2 1/2 years ago; hard drive went on one of them 4 months ago. I bought a new hard drive from HP and recovery media USB.  IT worked The other harddrive just went so i bought another harddrive from crucial and loaded up the USB recovery media I received from HP 4 moths ago.  Its not working it states recovery failure.    Does anyone know if I can use the USB recovery media two times or just once.  Any other thoughts are appreciate.

is there any way to configure WMP to only seach for media files when I request it, and not when a usb BU drive is plugged in? I've seached the configuration setup for WMP and can't find how to put it to sleep and wake up only if I request it. it's not under "services" or I would put it in the manual mode, and forget it. sheesh. wmp is getting as bad as realplayer trying to take over everything. (no, nothing's as bad as realplayer) --- thx

A:everytime I plug in an external HD to xp pro, WMP goes nuts trying to load the media

find options from top tabs go to library, monitor files, add to library then adjust how you wish wmp to search or not to search

Hi. Following a previous thread (resolved). Device Manager now shows a need for a driver for the multi media audio controller and another pci device. The properties tab elicits 'there are no drivers loaded'. The usual windows software update procedure is unable to find the software either in the pc or via the 'net. (The speakers and headphone are working: does that indicate that the mmac is not being used in the current sound system?) J

I'm working with a Dell Dimension C521 PC. It came with a PCI-Express video card which apparently has failed, yet the motherboard itself has on-board video. The system will boot using this video output (as opposed to the card which produced nothing) but when it finally gets to windows the auto-detect driver routine kicks in and begins to detect the video card, prompting the user to "Continue Anyway" to finish installing unsigned drivers. Unfortunately this event takes place in front of the installation of the USB keyboard and mouse (times like these I wish it had PS/2 ). Anyway, whether I boot up into Safe Mode or normal a prompt comes up about installing drivers for the on-board chipset. I can't interact with it because the driver install routine for the keyboard/mouse becomes interrupted.

A:Dell Dimension C521; USB key/mouse driver load interrupted by video card driver load

Bump. I've been thinking... the only way I think this can be fixed is if I boot from a Linux CD or something similar and delete a particular set of drivers for this video card. It can't prompt you to install any drivers if they don't exist, right? But I don't know where to go to delete such files and prevent them from automatically trying to install themselves. Any ideas?

My computer randomly started displaying this error upon start up a week ago and I have no clue what is causing it. I googled it and seen that it could be caused by a linksys wireless router, one was installed on the system before, but has been uninstalled for quite some time now. Can anyone help me correct this or at least help me figure out what is causing it?

A:Load dll error - Can't load res_dll

Have you checked in your Startup items to see if it's listed there? It can probably be easily disabled.
Have you ever used msconfig?

Hello, This is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say that 'WinPatrol' is not a firewall.

I was wondering what the difference was whether you had a program load at startup (by checking a box within the program to have it load when the computer boots) and unchecking that box but moving a shortcut to the programs executable into the startup folder on the start menu.

Is there any difference?

A:Pages don't load, images don't load?

My computer is doing the same thing. Out of nowhere, there's a whole ton of webpages that don't work. I went to read my comics yesterday morning and Yahoo news didn't load. I'm having the same problem in both IE and in Firefox so I'm guessing it's a problem with the computer, not the browser. But I have no idea how to go about fixing it.

I just built a computer. It has an Epox MB, Athlon XP 1700 cpu, 60 GB 7200 rpm Maxtor HD, and 256 MB DDR RAM.

I have the setup floppies for both Win2K and XP. I load them and at the end it prompts me for the OS CD. I put it in the drive and press the enter button as directed and then.........NOTHING! No CD-ROM activity. This happends with both 2k and XP.

Now........I can load Win ME or lower just fine. I start the computer with a WIN98 setup floppy and choose the "start w/ cd rom support" option and then select the appropriate drive and run setup........all goes fine. After the install........it works great.......but still wont take an upgrade to 2K or XP!!??

I have no idea whats going on here...........I've built several computers and have never encountered this before!

Any help is appreciated!!!

How do I get WindowsMail moved to W8 from Vista to load the MSOE.dll? And how can I get that other dll to register that this forum said to install in System32. Nothing happens when I type in the command prompt, the info give in that thread. I need to get WindowsMail working on this new laptop with W8. I can't get to choose "Run As Administrator" using Command Prompt because that choice is not on the dropdown menu.
