MEMORY UPGRADE - Windows Memory Diagnostics Flags 1 Stride38 Error

Q: MEMORY UPGRADE - Windows Memory Diagnostics Flags 1 Stride38 Error

I have just bought some new memory, 2 x 1 gig, inserted it and ran the test. I get one error in the Stride38 test. Address expected is different to the one returned.

I know which chip it is, should I send it back, or is this 1 error acceptable for the system?

Thanks for your response

Preferred Solution: MEMORY UPGRADE - Windows Memory Diagnostics Flags 1 Stride38 Error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Dell Studio Desktop 540 running Windows 7 Home Premium.  Recently, I had the pc run a memory diagnostic and now each time it boots up the memory diagnostic tool shows up too.  I have to go in to Process Explorer and kill it to make it go away.  Any idea how I can stop this from starting up each time at boot?

Hi I have recently been having random blue screens of death and i downloaded the Windows memory diagnostic tool ran the diagnostics tool http oca microsoft com en windiag asp and a few diagnostics BSOD memory with windows help and things happened - It threw up a message before the scan saying then memory map could not work with gb or something like that i only have gb installed on my system however it gave me the option to continue with the scan anyways First question is this normal - I continued with the scan and left it overnight for hours the first half hour i watched what was going on and it kept flagging FAILED BSOD and help with windows memory diagnostics messages on every single pass there wasnt a single SUCCEEDED message which seemed extremely bizarre I woke up in the morning and the scan was still going on past passes Second question Surely if my pc works most of the time then something would have passed and not just flagged everything as FAILED Third question How many passes does windows go through i left the pc on over hours and from what i read the memory scan should only take a few hours Thanks for help

I personally prefer Memtest86+ for RAM tests

You should also test each stick of memory separately (preferably overnight if not errors) and NO errors are permitted.

A:Windows Memory Diagnostics stuck in loop and cant stop it!

Good explanation here: Artur's tech support blog: Windows memory diagnostic stuck in the loop

Try booting your Install DVD, take the Repair path then Command Prompt. See if

bcdedit /bootsequence {memdiag} /remove

as described in the above article will work from there.

They occur about every 3 to 4 months. I used Bluescreenview to look at the dump files. The driver it pointed to was ntoskernl.exe and the bug string mentioned in four different cases was reference_by_pointer, driver_irql_not_less_or_equal, memory_management and bad_pool_header. The other drive mentioned in one of the other dump files was fltmgr.sys with the bug check string of bad_pool_header.

Everything I could find on the web pointed to bad memory or bad mobo. I ran Windows Memory Diagnotcs Tool under the advanced setting. It took 9 hours to run and it failed. I took out all sticks of ram and put them in one at a time and ran the diagnostic tool with standard setting. That only took about 20 minutes each to run and all sticks of ram passed. I then put all sticks back in and ran it with the standard setting and all sticks passed again. I then took out one stick and left two sticks in and ran the test with the advanced setting and it failed. I'm now down to running one stick at a time with the advanced setting. The problem is it takes 9 hours to run on the advanced setting.

My question is do I conclude that if all sticks of ram put in one at a time fails that all my ram is bad or does that mean my mobo is bad? I plan to take a stick of ram from a machine that seems to work ok and try the test. I assume that if that fails that it's my mobo?

I've updated my drivers on my video card and sound card. I have not updated the BIOS and I'm not sure which version it's running as i forgot to look before running the test again. Is it possible that there is a conflict with the BIOS? My system is all stock no OC!

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Are you putting the single sticks of RAM in the same mobo slot? If so it may be the slot not the ram.

I would run memtest as it stresses the memory more.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots

I am running Vista Home Basic w/ SP1 on a Compaq Presario SR2168HM w/ 2Gb Ram. I launched Windows Memory Diagnostics from the Start Menu. it discovered no problems on 2 passes. Now the Memory Diagnostics resides in the System Tray permanently. I can not seem to turn it off. I have tried to find it in System Config, Services, and Programs and Features. I can find no where to turn it off so that it will not stay on the Systray. Can anyone give me a clue as to how to turn it off with out doing a reinstall of Vista. I did a System Restore to a time just before I ran Memory Diagnostics to no avail. TIA for any help. BTW I am somewhat new to Vista. I have only been running it on this Computer for about 2 or 3 weeks.

I just upgraded the memory in my Dell CPxJ laptop from 128mb to 256mb. I had to update my BIOS, but when I did everything worked fine. For one day. Then I started getting the blue screen with the ACPI Stop Error.

I have:

Removed the new memory stick. The machine worked fine.
Replaced my existing memory stick with the new one (in DIMM A). The machine worked fine.
Put the old memory stick in DIMM B and the new one in DIMM A. I got the Stop Error.
Put the old stick in DIMM B with nothing in DIMM A. The machine wouldn't boot.

Any advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I have windows 8 on a Lenovo desktop PC with an AMD A4 5000 APU 1.5 GHZ., 4 GB ram.
I downloaded a game called Rohan Blood feud a month ago and every so often this common error comes up after clicking my character after I log in. memory 0x77 at referenced memory cannot be read. the error itself is hit and miss, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't. I have narrowed it down to three possibilities. Game guard the hacking prevention system built into the game is not compatible, not having enough ram to process the game request at the time i try to run the game or There might be an issue with AMD catalyst control system being out of date and is interfering with my game. Is there anything I can do besides uninstalling and re-installing the game? I have done this 3 times and it is only a temporary fix since the error is back after 2 game plays.

I recently upgraded my Windows 7 laptop from 4GB of physical memory to 8 GB. The Bios immediately recognized the added memory but it appears the Task Manager physical memory has not changed and only recognizes ~3.5 GB of available memory. Is there a way
to have Task Manager recognize the added memory? Is the fact that the Task Manager does not recognize the added memory mean other functions are not recognizing the added memory?

I ran a memory diagnostic test. When it's finished and began auto restart, it said something very quickly that I couldn't read, but I did catch something that said thermal shutdown? And it did NOT restart. So i let it cool off (it was hot!) and reran the test again, and it lets me log on the way it was supposed to do with the program popping up on the desktop, but there was no log to view, only the original interface. Where do i get this test info? I'm a pain in the rear I know, but I really need to fix this.?

I want to upgrade the memory of one of the pc's in our house. I get low memory alerts often and I can't delete much else to create room. I have never opened up a pc before, and I don't want to screw up and make things worse. The pc in question is a HP Pavilion a1150Y with a Intel Pentium 4 (3.00 GHz). OS is Windows XP SP2. It came with 512MB RAM and I would like to go up 2GB. I went to www.crucial.com, ran the system scan, and it says that this type of memory can go into that pc: "DDRII memory with support for DDR2 PC2-4200,DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400,DDR2 PC2-8500 speeds." I don't know what speed I should be installing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I am baffled and want some advice!

I have just upgraded a friends PC. It is a Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe mobo. It used to have two sticks of 1gb (800/5/5/5) which was running great, 128 mode, and I added the memory that they had bought (800/6/6/6). The bios settings were set to auto.

When it booted it stopped at the memory bit so I rebooted and this time it passed, but was running at 667. I went to the bios and manually set 800/6/6/6 which ran, but I started getting page errors etc. And it didnt boot everytime either.

I took out the original and left bios on auto, it detected the new memory and ran without trouble. I also ran memtest86 on both sticks without error.

What am I missing? Why does it keep dropping to 667?

Thanks,
Paul.

p.s. its vista 64 hence the upgrade to 4gb.

A:Memory Upgrade Error

Many boards have problems when all four slots are populated. One of these is to downclock the ram to a slower speed. I have a nvidia chipset board sitting right here in my server that does the same thing.

Next did you check the asus site and check the qvl list for ram for your board?

Mixing ram of different mfg, speed and or timing is asking for problems.

Is there anything I need to do. The HowTo's I've read dont mention CMOS changes.

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________ One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan and password stealer. This type of infection allows hackers to access and remotely control your computer, log keystrokes, steal critical system information, and download and execute files without your knowledge. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it contains any other sensitive information, then from a clean computer, change all passwords where applicable. It would also be wise to contact those same financial institutions to appraise them of your situation.I highly suggest you take a look at the two links provided below:1. Hi,

I have a Qosmio G30-201, with the following spec:
- Intel? Centrino? Duo Mobile Technology featuring Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor T7400- Genuine Windows? XP Media Center Edition- 400 (200 + 200) GB Hard Disk Drive- 2,048 (1,024+1,024) MB DDR2 RAM (533 MHz)- 17" Toshiba TruBrite? WUXGA TFT display- HD DVD-ROM drive

Running under Vista Ultimate

I would like to upgrade the memory to 4096.

Do I have to buy 4096 of memory, or can I add 2048?

What memory do i buy? Toshiba do not seem to sell MB DDR2 RAM (533 MHz) after 4 years. What other memory would be suitable?

Many thanks,

Best regards

Nick

A:Re: How to upgrade memory on Qosmio G30-201 and where to buy memory

Your notebook can handle with 4GB of RAM and I recommend you to use 2 x 2GB module.
Compatible 2 GB module has part number PA3513U-1M2G or Kingston KTT667D2/2G.

Put the part umber in Google and you will find a place where you can order it in your country.

Bye

I was trying to listen to a radio station through windows media player, and when I click the station, ( which worked before), I get an out of memory error popup, and get forwarded to this page, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/wi...&id=C00D11C6&contextid=83&originalid=8007000E

I am running a pentium dual core, windows Vista home premium, with 2 gigs Ram, and a 1 gig video card. and a 500GB hard drive, thats only 1/4 the way full.

I had other programs running, but I closed them out.
( I use process explorer, so I know there is enough free memory).

Wondering if its virtual memory or some setting? If not its probably related to the actual radio station that I am trying to listen to, as I tried a different one, ( music that I am not really that into, ), and it works fine..

Hello! I am new to the boards but from what I have seen this will be the place to come from now on

I upgraded my memory tonight from 128 to 512 (rambus). Install was of course easy and had no beeps at start. Now windows will not boot all the way. If I hit restart it takes me to the options page (safe/normal/ect). I hit f1 at start to check my settings and all seemed fine so I continued from there and after getting to the windows page it errored out and said that windows did not load properly! I replaced the old memory and am now getting the same result as with the new. I did not change anything before or after installing the memory. if anyone has an idea of what went wrong here, please let me know thanks!

I'm new to this game and wondered if anyone had any ideas. I just upgraded an Epox EP-4B2A from 256 to 512 DIMM PC133. The computer booted up fine and recognised the memory but then nothing happened. Windows 2000 NT is installed but did not load at all. If the memory is removed the computer works fine. If the current memory is replaced with the old then there are several bios beeps. The current configuration of my system (as bought) is 4Gb RAM.  According to the specifictions, it is upgradable to 8Gb.  I had a conversation with Sales Support via Chat trying to find the correct part number for 8Gb memory to replace the 4Gb.  I was told that as my system is still under warranty, I would need to contact Technical Support for this to happen.  Having done a number of searches on this forum, would I be right in suspecting that the existing 4Gb is soldered in to place - hence the need for a Warranty call to upgrade.  I was advised that any attempt to make the change myself would void the warranty.Any thoughts please.

Just find an 8GB stick with those specs.

Boot off of the newly created CD and run the tests with ONE stick of RAM in at a time. testing individually. If you get any errors, that stick is bad and needs to be replaced.

I am trying to upgrade my son's laptop from Vista to Windows 7. My son's computer is a Toshiba Qosmio and I ran the Toshiba Upgrade Tool with no problems. The problem I have now is that the virtual memory service is not starting so when I start the install of windows 7, I get the error "windows could not retrieve information about disks on this computer". I tried to manually start the service and get the error "service failed to start". If I put it on automatic, it just stays on "starting". Obviously...this is not allowing windows 7 to see my disks. Disk management does not show my disks due to virtual memory service not being able to start. The computer is ready for the upgrade....just can't get passed this problem. I don't want to use the recovery disks if I can help it.

Try booting the DVD rather than installing from a booted Vista. You should still be offered the choice of Upgrade or Clean install.

Prior to upgrade to Windows 10, this machine was running Windows 7 Ultimate without problem.  I frequently use the SD Card reader in the machine to upload Photos I have taken with my Camera.  After upgrade to Windows 10 the machine does not recognize the very same SD card.  I have contacted Microsoft windows 10 support about this problem.  They poked around in the machine and had no answer. I think an appropriate driver is needed from HP to make the SD Card reader in the machine work.  Please help! I am using a work around now.  I use an SD to USB adapter to load my photos but this is not the way the process should work. Again, please help!

A:SD Memory Card Reader does not work after Windows 10 Upgrade

Hi @krmiller?, I checked the support page for your computer, and I only see Windows Vista and Windows 7 drivers, no Windows 10 (not even Windows 8). Your computer was released in June 2009 -- it will probably not get updated drivers for Win10. From HP Desktop PCs - Upgrading to Windows 10: If you purchased your computer prior to August 2013, HP has not tested or developed drivers for your computer model. Some features might not work, or the installation might not be successful.HP provides Windows 10 compatible software and updated drivers to support only specific computer models. If the SD card reader issue is the only problem you're having after upgrading, believe me, it could be worse. The USB card reader you're using now as a workaround is probably the best solution. If it's enough of a deal-breaker for you, there is an option to go back to Windows 7 as long as you're within the first 28 days of having upgraded -- instructions are at the bottom of the upgrading document.

My Vaio was so slow I went to crucial.com and ran their system scan to see if I could add memory. I bought their recommended 2 gig kit and removed my 512 card , installed their two 1 gig cards and then my system started just fine. I re-ran Crucials scan and it showed I only had 1 gig installed and one empty slot. So I shut down, removed and reinserted the two one gig cards, both clicked in just fine, but now when I started my Vaio again I just get a black screen. Lights on, I hear the fan running, but no start up. Any suggestions? Crucial support is closed for the night.

I read so many post about this problem, but I can't find an answer how to solve it. I tried updating BIOS and did not work. Tried to change memory speed, but BIOS does not leave me to change settings.
Is this memory really compatible with Dell inspiron 14R n4010?  anyone knows how to solve this problem?
Thanks

A:Windows won't boot after memory upgrade Dell inspiron 14R

Ask Crucial support if you can't get an answer here. Crucial is good for helping with problems like this when you buy memory from them. A13 is the latest bios. IMO 4GB is plenty of ram for this 5 yr old model. Replace the 4GB and use it until you can buy a new computer.

After I upgraded the ram memory of my HP DV6 from 4Gb to 8Gb (2 x 4Gb Kingston KTA-MB1333/4G), Windows wont boot anymore. I get blue screens and it keeps rebooting. I believe the specs of the memory are similar to the original Samsung M471B5673EH1-CH9 memory: 1333Ghz, non-ecc, 1.5Volt, Cas latency 9 etc.etc. It's a HP DV6-2140ED laptop with an Intel i5-430m processor and Intel mobile HM55 chipset. The bios detects 8Gb and it also passes the memory check/test. As far as I know I also installed the latest bios firmware: F.1D. Reinstalling my Windows 10 64-bit doesnt work either: with 8Gb I also get blue screens after I try to boot from my Windows 10 bootable usb flash drive. I read of other people having the same problem, but I havent read of a solution yet. What can be done about this?

Hi,

I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics multiple times (1GB Ram = 2X512), sometimes it reposrts errors, and sometimes not!

I'm running two OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 64Bit, where I'm encountering bad performance, and Windows 7 32Bit which runs smoothly.

I'm not sure if it's really a memory damage or something else. I upgraded lately my CPU from Intel Pentium 4 506 to Intel Core 2 Duo 7500 (compatible with my mobo), when the BSOD appeared again and again.

Thanks in advance!

A:Windows Memory Diagnostic Reports Memory Problems

Hello TheHero2012, welcome to SF!

For better mem testing use:
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.
Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Sorry, should have read better. W7 64B will not run on just 1Gb of RAM.
If it runs ok on the 32B then there is prob nothing wrong with the ram itself.

I frequently get the error (since about 3 weeks ago) "Close programs to avoid loss of information". I have 7.5GB hdd space free on my c: drive.
I have 4MB RAM. In the task manager, all the processes RAM adds up to about 1.1 GB. But in the performance tab, it says:

As I said, the problem started 3 weeks ago. I have only my browser and one IDE open. Over the last two years I could easily have 2 browsers and 3IDES open, and be watching a movie/listening to music.

A:memory doesn't add up, out of memory error

Welcome

With 32 bit the most you can use is about 2 or 3 GB of memory.
Since you say that this is a new problem, lets take a memory test to see if it leads anywhere.
ttp://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/246994-guide-to-using-memtest86/

In addition take this hard drive test

When you say how much ram that you have I think that you put down MB, when you meant GB

Check to make sure it's not Write-protected.There should be a switch somewhere on it.
You should then be able to reformat /repartition it. If not then it could be a defective product. I'd return it and try another.

A:Windows 10 6.6gb memory usable out of 16gb memory.

Moire info needed.

Make/model of system board/computer.

What does your BIOS show? At first glance it appears you have shared memory, typically this is a laptop setup and if memory allocated to video less available to the system.

SO-DIMMs are usually used in notebooks. They are only 6cm long, and won't fit in your motherboard. Check out this link. SO-DIMM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the specifications for your memory:http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KVR667D2N5_2G.pdf

It ain't so-dimm.

Do you have access to another working computer? You might want to download and burn Memtest 86+. Then install both dimms in your motherboard, and boot from the CD and run some tests to see if the memory checks out ok.

You didn't say if you get stuck in the boot loop with your original memory installed? Can you clarify?

Just bought a used computer yesterday. Came with 4 x 1 Gig ram memory. It's an HP Pavillion desktop with an Asus motherboard in it. The motherboard itself can handle up to 16 Gig (x4 slots at 4 gig a piece) so that's not the problem. The problem is, everything I try to boot it with anything more than one chip in (1 gig) it runs, but nothing appears on the monitor. Just acts like it's going to boot and never does. I've tried using two and four sticks both, properly placed, and same error. Anyone have a fix for this problem? - Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. 150 Gig Hard Drive. Asus M4A785-M Motherboard. The way things are on the internet these days I would start by running a basic malware check just to see if anything obvious is lurking. If not we can then move on to other things. Run these three in the order given:AdwCleaner:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.MalwareBytes:https://www.malwarebytes.org/downlo...Download the free version.Install and Run the program but before doing its Scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits". Quarantine anything it finds. If anything is found please copy/paste the appropriate logs on here. Otherwise pop back and we can delve further.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

At the time I had 1 GB in one of 3 available slots. I attempted to add 2 GB more to occupy all 3 slots. This produced a reboot after POST as VISTA started. I rotated the the modules through all slots and finally realized that when I went beyond 2 GB it produced a reboot. During post it tests 3 GB and the BIOS displays 3 GB. I have 512MB of RAM on the video card. Any suggestions ?? I am running the latest BIOS and if I remove one GB the machine boots and runs great... ???? Ron

I am getting a serious error on my computer. I will be in the middle of something and all of a sudden this blue screen pops up and say that it is starting a memory dump. It says other things on it, but I can't remember what it is. When it is finished, it restarts, but when I log on, it only lists one of my four hard drives. If I try to launch My Computer, it tries to install programs that I have already installed. And also, I don't know if this is related to this error or not, but when I log on, Windows Update runs in the system tray and it says it's downloading updates, then it just closes out without installing any updates.

Hello wle95

We need to know what is in these error messages. Will you post them please.

Also
Turn off automatic rebooting
Right-click My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery/Settings.
Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically restart check box
You will then get a BSOD with error message which will help identify the problem.

Please post the message such as
STOP 0x00000000A IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
and any drivers named ( *****.sys)

Ever since up grading to Windows 10 pro 64 bit I get a low memory error. Once I click ok my system crashes. Memory usage % has never exceded 50% as far as I can tell. After reboot % is only about 22%. Originally I only had 4gb ram with virtual memory set to auto at 4gb. I added 4gb additional ram which in turn upped my virtual memory to 8gb. I have noticed it only happens when I use IE11 with at most 4 pages open; i.e. facebook, news pages or mail. Windows 10 only requires 4gb ram, so with my upgrade of 4gb brings my total to 8gb. If you figure in virtual memory of 8gb I can see no reason for memory to "run low". Any ideas?

I am using Windows 2000 Pro.
I installed the programm called "SentThere" (available as a
free download from http://www.download.com or http://www.sentthere.com)
The programm runs great, but when I click "EXIT" on the programm screen computer gives me the meessage:

"Application Error: The instruction at "0x1106e410" referenced memory at "0x1106e410". The memory could not be "read ".Click on OK to terminate the programm."

This doesn't happen with Windows 98 or Millenium, only with Windows 2000.
I have tried to do the following:
1.Reformat my hard drive and isntall fresh Windows
2.Installed all the recommended updates and service packs from Windows Update website.
3.Installed the Run-Time Libraries from http://www.sentthere.com/download.html as they recommended and reinstalled "SentThere"

The message still there. Please Help! Thank you in advance.

My guess is that the shareware is not 2000 compatable. What's the big deal with answering the error message? Does your PC crash after the message?

My mother s computer is some halfassed thing that one of my friends built While I could attribute hardware problems to almost anything I ve encountered on this computer I am completely baffled at this I can t be percent sure but I m pretty sure my mom downloaded the latest service pack I m guessing two or three I don t really trust Windows Update but it kept saying that support for the current service pack on her computer would end on October th could Windows XP not written be Error-memory if these Windows XP Error-memory could not be written updates weren t downloaded I think she downloaded them the other night before she went to bed and ever since then I can t open any folders whatsoever I can basically open just about everything that isn t a directory And even stranger is that every program is working just fine As long as I don t have to navigate any folders to get to it it will work But when I do try to open a folder I get an error message along the lines of quot the instruction at some number referenced memory at some number mostly or all zeros The memory could not be written quot This sucks majorly because I just got a new laptop and I have about gigs of information to transfer to it I m not a computer whiz by any means either so explicit instructions would be greatly appreciated nbsp

Hello Asian Grunt, and welcome to Eight Forums.

And also, I don't know if this is related to this error or not, but when I log on, Windows Update runs in the system tray and it says it's downloading updates, then it just closes out without installing any updates.

hello madame and sirs,

Ihave got 128 mb ram on my pc. when i start my pc it shows 32mb shared memory. windows shows 96mb ram. i am not able to install some applications which require min.128mb ram.(windows 2000 pro)&(windows98se)

i once used KNOPPIX LIVE CD and then created some swap file as prompted..... which i deleted later on. i dint notice the ram showed my windows then. incidently i have even formatted my c: drive lateron .... but windows shows 96 mb ram

I want my ram to be fully utilised.. pls help

A:RAM (Random Access Memory) - "Shared Memory" , Windows shows less RAM.

128 - 32 = 96

Shared memory means that a part of your system memory is used by the video card and is not available for programs. You should be able to adjust the amount of shared memory in BIOS setup. Note that you will never be able to get the full 128MB unless you get a proper video card.

A:USB memory devices FAT read error in Windows 7

I have tried uninstalling all USB devices, rebooting, reinstalling the devices, removing filters for the USB device, uninstalling the USB Mass Storage Device when connected, and reinstalling it, moving all the USB devices to different ports, but to no avail.
It keeps on having the same problem every time. I wondered if it had anything to do with the last updates, (Oct. 14,2010) since it happened about that time. All other (non-memory) USB devices, like webcam, printer work fine. Next item I will be tackling is,
copying the USBSTOR.SYS and USBSTOR.INF from another W7 computer, to see if that will make a difference in the installation of the devices.

Yes, OP stated problem began then. No other reason.

Hello together !

For your information:

Did a memory upgrade today at 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1,9 GH, 256 MB DDR-RAM originally), both up to 1 GB, all fine and not problems.

Just wanted to end rumours about "only 512 MB all together" or even less.

If searching for it, remember to think of the specifications:

DDR-266 (PC2100)
DDR-SDRAM, SO-DIMM
200 PIN
CL 2.5

concerning RAM frequency, building form etc.

Greetings

L0nestar

P.S.: Don`t think a discussion is necessary, thread could therefore be closed...

A:Satellite Pro 2100 - RAM Upgrade - Memory Upgrade

According the notebook specification Satellite Pro has two memory slots and can be upgraded up to 1 GB. It is very useful to have your confirmation about RAM upgrade for this old but still good notebook model.

A:Windows 8 Enterprise memory dump error after startup

Your BIOS dates from 2006. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system (I suspect that this system is not compatible with Windows 8). Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

My internet explorer was not loading up although everything else on my computer was working properly. I downloaded explorer 7 using Mozilla. My c drive did not have enough space for explorer 7. As a result I restarted my computer, and windows explorer will not load up. I tried starting the system restore tool at a command prompt in windows XP but I do not have enough memory to run the system restore. It says I need 200 mb. and I cant clear away any space. Does anyone have nay suggestions? I have an external hardrive, but can't figure out a way to transfer from my c drive to the external harddrive.
Thanks!

I need help, I just buyed a new Computer with ASrock K7VT2 and AMD XP 2200. I tried to clean install my Windows XP Pro, but after the files copied and the windows boot from HD to continue the installation, the "Dump physical memory" always occured. It said that I should turn off the HD Chaching or Shadowing from BIOS, but there's no option about such things on my BIOS, so I can't even complete the Installation of the Windows. Can someone help me ?
I have a Geforce4 MX video card and 512 MB memory.
Thanx.

A:Windows XP can't install, Dump physical memory error

A:Windows 7 Ultimate Installation Error: 0x80070570... Bad Memory?

SOLVED! The memory was the problem. Also, the other memory module is underneath the keyboard.

Thanks!
