Preferred Solution: Burning DVD to my computer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello guys. The specs on my laptop are in my signature. I have recently realized that I have a bad issue when burning my DVDs or CDs.

I'm using Magic DVD Ripper which I love as a program, but when it burns it lags my entire PC.

I have heard that some computers have a monitor that purposely slows down the CPU to keep it in a safe state with so much CPU usage from the process.

However, is there a way to change settings to allow a smooth operating environment while burning data?

A:[SOLVED] DVD/CD Burning Computer Lag

Hi moviscop !

Burning a DVD is a CPU, memory and hard drive intensive process. IMO you don't want any other program come in the way of the burning process or it will simply fail.

You could give it a try with another burning software to see if the problem comes from the burning software or from the computer. You should end all the unneeded programs that are running in the background to free ressources for the programs you want to use. Maybe you should also defrag your hard drive.

I am building a new computer and would like recomendations for componets. I want to edit video and music to burn DVDs.
I know I want an AMD 64 dual core 3500, plextor burner, asus motherboard, ati video card and 1 gig of ram. all been recomended to me. I don't know details yet, but I am working on a list. Do I need XP Media? Thanks

A:Building a DVD Burning computer

9 times out of 10 I usually recommend AMD systems, but .... I believe INTEL is a better system for you if video editing is your main intent for the system. Is this to be a professional level system, or is this just a hobby of yours?

If you are just a hobby level video editor (like myself) then the above system will be fine. Although I'd recommend getting at least 2Gb of ram.

What format are your source movies in? Analog? Or are they already digital?

I really don't know anything about XP media edition to be able to answer that question. For my (basic) needs, XP home edition works just fine but media may be the way to go...

A:computer shuts down while burning

Was it burning dvd`s ok before and just started this problem? Does it restart ok? Could be a heat issue, are your exhaust vents free and do you have good circulation around it, burning a full dvd creates alot of heat. I have a Presario R4000 and it will give me problems burning a disk if i dont have it sitting on the cooler.

Last 2 times I burned DVDs (from video files) with my Nero software errors occurred in the background (not in Nero) and it seemed to make the burn take longer. In Event Viewer I think I saw Event ID 17 and 29. I put my cable modem on stand by and turn off as many processes as I can that run in the background to conserve resources. My CPU runs at 100% while transcoding the files to burn. Whole process usually takes 3 to 4 hours. These last 2 times it took over 5 hours. I suspect because other things on my PC were going on in the background. The DVD gets done finally and works fine.

Is it possible to burn DVDs in Safe Mode? Would this be a good idea, so that all the back ground processes are at a bare minimum?

A:Computer Errors While Burning DVDs

a nice quick safe way of shuting down all the programs running is a program callled Smartclose its free and it closes all programs and prossess excpt for the ones xp needs to live on.
also when your finnished you can restart any thing it shut down just as easaly. though i find it better to just restart my pc.

theres no ads or spyware or anything to worry about. i love this program and use it when i run defrag or play a game

heres what that site says

SmartClose is a handy tool that allows you to close all currently running programs - a task often required during software installations to minimize conflicts (or during defrag operations). This can be a tedious task when performed manually, and usually requires a restart to get all your programs back up and running. With SmartClose however, the entire process is simplified and automatic, as it stores the running program information is a system snapshot and not only closes all applications for you, but also restarts/restores them later. The program can be customized in various aspects, and a quick wizard also allows you to exclude programs from being closed or restored. It will automatically skip applications that are required for the Windows system to run. In addition, it supports services, as well as Explorer and Internet Explorer windows and saves their current location, so they can be restored properly.Click to expand...

I am having a problem with my computer, it is running kind of slow in general, but in particular, when I try to burn a CD I get a message that the speed of the burn is too fast. I tried doing it on the slowest possible setting and had the same thing occur. This has never happened before and I have burned CD's for ever.

I have done all of the normal things that a person does to speed up their computer (all of the things recommended on this site) with no results and apparently there isn't a malware problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Every time I burn a DVD video disc (from my hard drive) it slows down my computer to an almost unbearable situation. Just as opening my file manager (Nomad.NET) or my text editor as simple as Notepad++ takes time. Just clicking a tab every time I go back to notepad++ takes a minute or two.

Do you have any clue what's going on? You can see my computer specs (farther down) that I have enough of computer power to make a smooth burning process. There's gotta be something wrong, I'm almost sure of it.

I'm using NERO burning Rom 11.

My System Specs (PC):

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
Motherboard: MSI MS-7250
RAM: 6,00 GB
Hard Drive: SAMSUNG HD401LJ SCSI Disk Device (SATA)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium

A:My DVD burning slows down my computer increasingly

As you are burning a "video disc", the original files have to converted into a DVD spec video format. The conversion process uses 100% cpu. You can verify by simply opening Task Manager and seeing which application is using the cpu processes.

You may be able to change the processing priority in the Nero options, which will help some, but it will increase the conversion time.

Hey guys, i'm new to this forum. I bought a new computer at best buy. It has Vista preinstalled and WMP11. When I go to burn a cd I insert a blank disc and its not reading it. I tried updates for the Media player, I even tried installing Nero 7 and still the same problem. I can put a cd or a movie into the drive and play with no problem, but a blank disc when burning and it doesn't even read it. Please help.....

A:New Computer w/ Vista and cd burning problem

Well I had a similar problem with an out of the box Acer Business version of Vista.

It would not burn any R/W media -- always insisting that the media needed formatting -- but it could never complete the format.

DVD R and CD R media presented no problem.

I found no solution to this and RMAd (returned) the computer to Newegg, from which I'd bought it.

The new one worked perfectly.

I don't know what the solution to your problem might be, but if you can't find one -- take it back to Best Buy and let them reproduce the problem.

You should have at least a 30 day grace period -- don't exceed that.

Hi there,

I have the computer set up which is shown below, The problem i have is when I'm burning files from my Hard Drive to DVD my whole computer slows down , i can't do anything, any programme i try to open take at least 5 minutes to respond. I've upgraded my RAM from its original 256 to 1024 but no difference, i notice when burning it converts the files from NTSC to PAL, i am using Nero 7.

I'm thinking its probably something to do with my processor, but thought Pentium 4 (2.4 gigahertz) would have been up to the job.

PS Sorry if this is in the wrong forum

Whenever I burn a CD/DVD, my computer's audio becomes choppy, slow, and distorted. This is not just with one application. All sounds from any applications making sounds will be distorted. This not only occurs with my built in Sony DVD-RW drive, but also if I'm burning a DVD in an external optical drive. Although DVD/CD burning does drive up my CPU usage, the highest I've seen it ever get during a burning session was in the 70% range, but it usually stays below 60% during a CD/DVD burn, so this could probably not be the result of my CPU being overloaded. I have Windows XP, a Sony DVD-RW drive, and Realtek HD Sound Card. Could anyone help me? Thanks.

A:All computer sounds distorted when burning a CD/DVD

Rule of thumb is that while burning any CD or DVD, you should not use the PC for anything else.

If the CPU is not 100% dedicated to the task of burning, a coaster will result.
The "buffering" the PC burning software does is also to reserve most of the CPU resource for the task of burning, as it cannot afford to miss one byte of info, the disk will not wait for it to catch up. Hence to act of decoding audio etc has a very low priority.

A:Burning Question: How Much Computer Security Is Enough?

Hi

I get by very well with Nod32 and Comodo Firewall Pro (which is Free, even for Pro). I could simply even use any packet filtering software instead of a full featured firewall too, I have no need of full HIPS protection or the other fluff.
I've worked as an Independant New (unknown) Variant tester for major AV companies for about 9 years and worked with developers of the best known and effective AntiMalware programs since inception. I run 3 tech sites dedicated to tech and security, all members of ASAP (Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals), so my habits are kinda secure I'd say...

I would NEVER recomend users to go without a well known and tested AV program these days as there are just way too many ways (other than the email ways) for malware to get onto a users machine today. Malware today is a sophisticated Business, with top notch programmers and spies working in many AV companies...yes, that's right. It's a Billion $$ business and a far cry from the malware of just 5 years ago, so anyone thinking they don't need a top AV product just because they feel their habits are secure are looking for trouble...soon.

Firewalls I will recomend as a necessity today also, there are just too many security issues one can run into without one. It's not just skripties scanning blocks for vulnerabilities either, professional hackers (black hat) run companies of fellow hackers that probably rival the staff at most large companies you worked for. It's no longer the "singular" hacker or attack these days, it is a huge business in some countries and they rake in billions yearly, so obviously there are vulnerabilities other than those stupid Nigerian email scams to worry about.

It's a plethora of potential problems without the two basics of security, the AntiVirus and Firewall combo, but AntiSpyware is still up to the user's choice (but highly recommended for 75% of users).

Every time I try and burn a CD my computer crashes with no error or warning messages. When the problem first occurred the PC would restart but now it has taken to freezing completely with the only solution of switching the power off. Perhaps more puzzling, I do not always have to go through the scan disk process which usually appears when the computer is not properly shut down.
I am running Windows XP service Pack 2, with an AMD Athlon 1800 processor, 256MB RAM. The writer is an LG CD RW drive.
The software I use is Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, which came with the computer. I have never had any problems with it, and when this first occurred I also tried using Windows Media Player which results in the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

A:Solved: Computer crashing when burning CDs

Might be time to dump Roxio Easy CD Creator 5. It's a very old app and I assume you've added sp2 since then. I would completely uninstall it and get one of the free burning apps out there which are current (sp2 compatable) and do a great job with CD burning.

The drive will read and will also write in media player, however it will not write with any other software.

I have itunes imstalled which comes back with unknown error 4310, latest nero installed which keeps saying there is only room for 0.01 MB of data on a blank disc and tried to burn with BURRRN which came back with logic unit not ready, long write in progress error.

I am unable to copy discs or burn data to dvd. I've tried different branded discs and burning at slower speeds but nothing seems to work!

help please!

I may have missed this, but how old are your burners? It sounds like you need new ones. The average is 3-5 years, but I know people who have had them last longer.

I put in a little GT 610 graphics card about a week ago and everything has been fine since, I get up this morning and now there is the smell of burning dust coming from my computer.

I opened up the case, checked the fans, checked all the hardware, checked for burnt items on the motherboard and all seem to be in order, I checked what temps of things i could with the speccy program and all are in the normal range.

The computer is running fine, no slow downs or anything, can anyone suggest to me something else to look for, the smell of burning dust is quite strong though not overwhelming by any means.

Thanks
TC

A:smell of burning dust coming from computer

Hello TC,

Have you already gave the inside of your case a good cleaning and blowing out any dust?

How does the PSU look? Don't open the PSU because it can electrocute you even when unplugged. Only look through the grill.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

A:Solved: CD Burning Issues & Slow Computer...Please Help!

We fixed the problem. although I am not quite sure which fix it was that solved it. We didn't try to burn after each thing, but waited until we did a few things. We had an issue with the virtual memory a week ago, and the computer said that it was fixing it, but it wasn't restored to the previous amount. So we did that and added some more RAM, plus a few other basic things, and all seems to be resolved.

I was on my desktop computer last night when it randomly shut down and I could smell burning but I was not sure where it was coming from.

I found that the graphics card was hot but this is not unusual, my PSU was hot but I don't usually check this and the heatsink felt fine apart from the CPU metal contact. I had recently replaced the heatsink as I broke the former when trying to clean it. I do could not see any visual signs of damage but I wasn't able to remove the PSU from the motherboard (but it has been there for 3+ years).

I could not tell where the burning was coming from.

My specifications are:

Intel Q9300
Nvidia Geforce GTX 280
Tagan 400W PSU
ASUS P5Q (vanilla)

How do I best approach this?

Cheers,

Doraku

A:My computer randomly shut down and I could smell burning

The recommended PSU for a Geforce GTX 280 is a 550 watt power supply so you've been stressing that unit way past its limit, so I would start by replacing the power supply with a high quality, higher wattage unit. We recommend the Corsair TX 650 quite a lot: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

Whenever I burn a DVD of videos my computer shuts down immediacies, or a few times when Roblox is being played maybe it uses lots of graphics? I was told to clean the Cpu fan will get someone to do that but could it be something else?

A:Computer keeps shutting down when burning Dvd and playing Roblox

Is it possible your power supply can't handle the strain of burning a disk?

Is this a system you built yourself? Or that you added a graphics card to?

I am a "Nero Veteran", war veteran, etc.. etc.. The reason your having problems is simple. Some discs cannot be copied, as they may be copy protected or contain errors. If you are unsure if your disc can be copied,
run a trial in the "simulation" mode. Click on "More" at the bottom of the page and select "Simulation".

I was browsing websites on a four year old Dell Dimension 4700 PC when all of a sudden the computer suddenly turned off. The computer would not turn back on and the power light on the front of the computer, which normally is green when the computer is on, blinked yellow over and over again. After unplugging the computer and plugging it back in, the blinking yellow light went away and the computer did power on (complete with green light), but there was a horrible burning smell coming from the machine and nothing loaded. Every time I try to turn on the computer now all I get is that green light and an incredibly loud fan, nothing comes on the screen, I hear no beeps, nothing.

What could this possibly be and what could I do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

A:Computer doesn't work after crash/burning smell

Sounds like you may have fried the power supply. Remove the covers and see how much crap is covering all the components. A can of air blaster works good to clean out heatsinks and fans. Do any work with the power unplugged then carefully turn it on and see if you can see what is cooking in there.

A:Problem With Vista Computer Shutting down while burning with Nero 8

I am not really qualified to give you suggestions to solve this problem. But I noticed that this post does not have any replies, so here I go. Also, I do not have a specific solution to this problem. Bear with me :)

Is Nero 8 really necessary for you? If not, there are a plethora of free and lightweight(...as in wayy lightweight) software available to replicate the tasks that Nero can do. Also, you may try updating the driver for the DVD drive.
I'm sure that you may be already informed about the alternative software and are not switching as you may be used to Nero. However, if you haven't given them a try, give them a try; some of them are awesome. I use CD Burner XP, excellent software for beginners.
Sorry if this reply did not provide you with the desired solution. I am a beginner myself and just got started in this forum. Let me know if you actually tried out my suggestions! :)

Hi,

If i try to burn a dvd, used DVD Shrink and Nero so far to attempt to burn some dvd files.

my soundcard makes a high pitched sound BEEEEEP then goes silent when i try to burn a dvd REALLY STRANGE MAN!!

it just remains at 0% on DVD Shrink and 1% on Nero

I cannot shut down or restart, I also cannot open any other software like Internet Explorer afterwards, I have tried to re-install the ASPI drivers which never made much difference, anyone got any ideas why this may be happening?

I can read dvds no probs it`s just when it comes to writing the dvd i have issues.

Hi When we add images in Nero I don t know about other apps it takes a very long time since there are a large number of files with a video file it doesn t take any time Then during the burn process also it takes up more time I have tried burning photos only once I decided that one folder with some photos would not be good so I started making MB folders with varying number of photos then I got tired and started making two and three hundred MB photos Finally I burned a MB folder first For On Computer (not Burning Viewing Player). Simple Dvd Photos and Burning Photos For Simple Viewing On Computer (not Dvd Player). it went smootly so then I added GBs and started the burn on a GB disk and it took a very long time and then Nero stopped responding - at the point where it says writing short burn out or whatever at the end it clogged up and there was no activity from the DVD drive the light wasn t blinking but the hard disk light was going on furiously and the Nero dialog box was showing not responding with the mouse cursor changing to wait sandbox when taken upon it Finally after almost fifteen minutes it threw out the disc and gave the message that the burn process was successfully over When I opened the Burning Photos For Simple Viewing On Computer (not Dvd Player). disc everything was there but when I started Nero again to fill in the rest of the disc and went to add files it showed the disc as empty that there were no files in it I still have the disc I can open and view the files but if I try to run it in Nero it shows the disc as empty So my question is is there any particular method that has to be followed when burning photos Burning Photos For Simple Viewing On Computer (not Dvd Player). or small files like saved webpages where the quot files quot folder has a lot of small files One option was to make MB rar archives but if over a period of time the archive becomes corrupt all the photos in it are lost right And are there alternatives to Nero - there are a lot of them probably but do they have anything special or do all burning softwares do pretty much the same thing I have been burning data discs with Nero all this time and there has never been any problem What about burning the whole data at one go the entire disc I mean is that better or is it better to burn the disc in two or three sessions And yes is it true that it is better to burn the disc as few times as possible because there is some sector from which it picks up info when it is run and burning too many times fills up that sector And what about burn speed does it matter as far as preserving the disc for long term use is concerned Thanks

A:Burning Photos For Simple Viewing On Computer (not Dvd Player).

You can use Windows to transfer pics to disk, right click on the pic and go to the send to in the drop down box and pic the drive to send it to. That's how I do it. But if you're set on using another program, somebody else should come along and recomend something..

Firstly, don't attempt to turn it on anymore, as you're most likely cause more damage, each time, you do so.
Secondly, it's rather impossible to diagnose on line what's going on inside the case.
Your best option is to bring it to a pro shop.

When I burn cd/dvds with Windows 7 built in burning software and windows media player all my burns are successful. When I try to use Nero, CD Burner XP or imgburn, it fails. My computer is plenty fast enough(2.8ghz, 4gb ddr2, 250gb sata hd) and I tried reinstalling windows 7 without nero or deamon tools and tested with CD Burner XP, it still failed. I am using Sony blank CD's and also tried a few other name brand. I am burning at the lowest speeds. I purchased a brand new dvd burner and the firmware is up to date. The error I am getting is "Could not write to Disc". It fails randomly anywhere from 3%-30%. Any ideas? Again, windows 7 native burning works fine but other software does not. Hi

I would be gratefull for help, just a week or two my inside and outside (USB) recorders started to work extremly slow.
Using Nero 14 i can see the real recording speed 800 - 1 500 kB/s when using 16x (22 160 kB/S). My usb samsung blu-ray recorder also work very slow - data fo 25 Gb disc takes about 4 hours.
It is a new machine, 16 Gb RAM, 3770K on board so it is a fast one but recording...
I tried deinstaling IDE i decice manager.
I tried Ashampoo, CDburnerXP - all the same.
During recording HDD 0 (c shows 1% usage.
No software in background - just Kaspersky

DVD and Blu-ray have no errors - veryfication ok, surface test also - only very slow.
Tested media: TDK, Sony, Panasonic (all 16x for dvd and 6x for blu-ray)

Please help

A:DVD-R burning more then 1 hour! Super slow Burning DVD-R

Look in Device Manager. Right click on the burners and see if DMA is enabled. Usually when super slow kicks in it's because somehow this setting gets changed to disabled.

Turn Direct Memory Access (DMA) on or off - Microsoft Windows Help

The instructions are for Windows 7 but once you get to Device Manager I'd bet it's the same.

In W8 the quick way to Device Manager is hit Winkey-x then m.

Have been burning CDs through Windows Media Player forever; no problems. Suddenly, when I choose 'Burn CD', nothing happens. No error messages.

BUT, when I choose a previous playlist to burn, it works. The non-burn problem seems limited to only recently downloaded music playlists. These same playlists do play on my computer, so they're obviously recorded and working.

Thoughts??

Ok, i'm new to this CD Burning. I have Nero Express, and i'm having a little problem with it.

I've copied an Audio CD to a CD-R, and it plays fine, but there are still space on it, and i wanted to put a MP3 (it converts to CDA really nice also) together with the already burned tracks, but i can't. Everytime i put the same CD, i get the folloqing message:

"This midia cannot be recorded
Please Insert another midia."

(Sorry if it's not right, cuz i translated from portuguese)

Can i do what i want?? How??

Sorry if it is hard to understand, it is hard to explain.

Thank you

A:Audio CD Burning with Nero Burning Rom

You cannot append any audio files to an disc that has been completed. Once a disc is completed it cannot access the remaining space. Especially with Nero Express. Once a disc is burned it is "closed (finalized)."

This is just a simple explanation.

I believe Roxio's Easy cd creator lets you add files to your disc as long as you don't "finalize" it. Until you finalize it you will not be able to listen to the music.

Hi to all,
Here's a strange one, I've just re-formatted my hard drive and re-installed xp ( not the first time, I prefer this to restore ) anyway I've tried to burn three music disc's using new blank cd-r's. I go through all the motions ( using nero 5.5 ) I do my compilation as normal, hit burn and nero " burns " the disc. When I try and play the disk on my walkman I can skip through the track numbers but get no sound. When I check it out on my pc in my computer it says Free space 0 bytes, Total size 0 bytes. I am sure this is not a hardware problem so what else could it be ?

I've been recording sucessfully with the same set up and software in the past, any suggestions welcome and appreciated.

About three weeks ago I had to reinstall Windows.
Since then I am not able to burn anything from Kazaa.
In the past I had no problems burning anything from Kazaa.
I can burn from CD to CD.
It goes through the motion of burning, it shows up that there are tracks on the disc, but when I play it back - there is no sound.

I burned an entire music CD and replayed it with no problems. Is it Kazaa or something else. Are there properties I should be checking... HELP!!!!!

It doesn't matter wether I am burning a music cd with Media Player or burning a data cd with Nero. Now, I've tried updating the driver but that didn't fix the problem, and all the wires are plugged into the drive correctly. Does anyone know what the problem coud be? I burn CD/DVD's often but have been having the issue of not being able to see whats on the cd/dvd unless I reboot my whole system. Can anyone tell me how to rectify this issue??

A:CD/DVD Burning

I can't say I have ever heard of that before. My only guess is that your system files have become corrupt. Technichally your in the wrong forum for that though and should post in software, but if that isn't the problem it would be hardware.

My recommendation would be too reinstall your burning software first, just in case those files have become corrupt.

If that doesn't solve your problem, I would try repairing windows. You will need your windows installation disk for this.

DO NOT ATTEMPT IF YOUR NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE DOING

If you perform the wrong action you will wipe everything off of your computer.

To repair windows: Insert your Windows installation disk into your CD-Rom and reboot.
If your Bios are set to boot from CD-ROM it it boot from disk, othrewise your would have to change your bios. After windows boots from disk it should ask you if you want to reinstall, repair, or install a fresh copy of windows. Make sure you click to repair windows. Then select your operating system and tell it to repair.

DO NOT REINSTALL OR INSTALL A FRESH COPY OR YOU WILL WIPE YOUR DRIVE.

You know that little bubble that comes up above the Task Bar (right side) that says 'You have files to be written to CD. Click here...'?

Where does that go when it disappears before you can get back from the other room where you went to get a blank CD because you're so stupidly disorganized you can't stand yourself?

Hi,

I have Sonic DigitalMedia plus and want to burn CDs, but I don't know which kinds I need. What's the difference between CD-R and CD-RW, also the +/- signs, and which one do I need to use?

A:New to CD Burning

CDR = write once CD. CD cannot be re-used after filling it.
CDRW = re-writable CD. You can erase the cd's full contents at any time and re-use it.
CDR's are far more likely to play on other devices away from your computer, burn faster and are cheaper.
+/- = DVD's not CD's.

Is this a recent problem or have you never been able to burn CDs.Some general troubleshooting things you can try:If you recently installed some burning software, uninstall/reinstall it.Use the fix given on this Microsoft page.Clean the laser using one of those drive cleaning kits.Open the Device Manager (Start > Run > type "devmgmt.msc"). Locate the CD/DVD drive, right click on it and select "Uninstall". After it has uninstalled reboot the computer (it will be automatically reinstalled).

I have a Canon Camcorder with the DV tape. I have a 1394 hook-up that I use to download my tapes to my computer. I have tried several different methods to burn the VCD but can't get any to play in my DVD player that plays VCD. I had the movie in media files, mepg-1, etc. All will play on my computer but none on a DVD player. I mainly use the Nero software package to download and to convert files to burn the VCD. Any ideas of how I can get a VCD that will play?

Many thanks, Allan.

I have a MB video file that is in Divx AVI format and I would like to burn it to VCD in order to watch it on my home DVD player I have made VCD s in the past but they are usually much smaller files The problem is in order to burn the file to VCD I have to either A chop the file up since when you burn to VCD you have to encode it in a different larger format B encode the file at a lower quality or C overburn a CD I really don t want to do B since I d like to keep it at a high quality and C just worries me for something as unimportant as a video file So I m going with A Of course I m having problems with A When I chop up the file which is in sync the audio gets terribly out of sync I have read the FAQ s on various sites such as VCDhelp com but many of the sync problem fixes seem to be Burning VCD's pretty time consuming and I m really looking for a quot quick fix quot Any suggestions nbsp

A:Burning VCD's

go to http://doom9.net and download DVD2SVCD. Switch it to AVI2SVCD mode and set the time limits (on the bitrate tab) to how many CD's you want the movie to span. (that will make sense once you try the program. Also since you want VCD instead of SVCD then make sure you check MPEG-1 instead of MPEG-2. Hit "go" and in a few hours you will have the movie on 2 CD's (image files) with no sync problems.

We're using Roxio Burning Software. We're downloading MP3's from the internet. Sometimes the songs burn ok. Sometimes the first song won't play or the CD won't finalize. Any Help?

A:MP3 burning

If you are using RW switch to CDR. If you are already using CDR switch brands. Reliable brands are Fuji, Sony, TDK, and Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden. There are more but you will probably find some of those around.

Make sure you burn disc at once or DAO. It writes the table of contents first that way and there is no chance of its running out of space before it can write the TOC.

Hi!

I just burned my first DVD the other day.. put 3 movies from my computer on the dvd. I tried to watch it on my computer after and it worked fine. But later when i was gonna try it out on my dvd player, all that worked was the audio on the movies... I used DivX to burn.

A:Help With Burning!

Your DVD player may not support the DivX codec.

Check the manufacturers website for your DVD player.

You should be able to find the relevant details there.

Hope this helps,

Hi, can anyone tell me whether I need to buy software to burn dvd"s in windows 7 or is it part of 7?

A:burning dvd's

If you're referring to copying DVDs then yes you would . If you're asking burning .iso files no just right click on the file and choose Burn image to disc .

You would need two drives to copy the DVDs though . Unless you want to copy the files to the hard drive then burn the files to a DVD . You could use Windows 7 to do that . A lot of people use third party software like Roxio or Nero .

Ok, I've got a Phillips DVD+RW-D01 drive with the latest drivers. I also have Nero 6.6.0.3. Well, it won't burn DVD+R. I checked the toolkit and it won't support it. I've tried a bunch of other programs like Cheetah and Deepburner and none of the them work saying that I have an Illegal disk. I've tried Memorex and Spin-X disks that are DVD+R's. The interesting thing is that Nero says it will support DVD+RWs. So, help me find out why I can't burn my DVD+Rs.

to 1.9.
when I used nero info to check my dvd it said dvd+rw only, now after the firmware upgrade it list dvd+r and dvd+rw. I don't have any dvd+r right now to check it but i'll let you know what I find.
You can search for br59173.exe on google and it will bring you to the page.

The 80 minute limit on CDs refers to standard audio CD playing time. It has nothing to do with videos.

A:Burning A Dvd?

I use DVD decrypter 3.5.4.0 to copy and write DVD's. it's an old version but it works like a charm. They tell me DVDfabdecrypter is the newer version.

To copy a DVD to your hard-drive; click "mode" (top toolbar) "ISO" then choose "read". Choose a destination of course. (click the folder opposite "please select folder"). Then click the play button at the bottom.

To burn a DVD; click "mode" > "write", Click the folder under source, opposite "please select file" to locate the ISO file you just made. Double click the ISO image (ignore the mds file)
insert a blank DVD and press the play button, and your all set. This is assuming that your ISO image will fit on a standard DVD. You may need a program to shrink it to fit a standard DVD. They say DVD shrink will work. Since I never copy protected DVD's I really can't tell you how to do it. I do a lot of legal on line trading. All the DVD's I copy are legal.

Try demuxing the audio into a separate file with another video editor, for example VirtualDubMod. TMPGEnc probably doesn't understand the audio codec used in the original file.

If you have access to another system, move the drive to that system and see if the result is the same there. If it is, it is a failed drive.

I have a Plextor DVD burner here that will no longer burn DVDs. Matter of fact, I have had three Plextors that failed in warranty and all again just out of warranty. I don't have good luck with Plextors. It does fine at reading DVDs and CDs but will burn only CDs. The drives use different heads for CDs and DVDs so it is understandable it will fail on CD and not on DVD.
