Touch screen Issue

Q: Touch screen Issue

Hello,

I use  Lenovo S510p Ideapad that I've had for around four months.

I recently today, I installed some Windows updates. (I didn't upgrade to Windows 8.1 though.)

When I rebooted my touch screen had stopped working and I can not find out how to get it to work again. My drivers are all up-to-date and I have not done anything to damage the touch screen function.

What can I do about this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Ideapad Flex 15 had a Windows 10 update a couple of weeks ago. A week to 10 days later, I discovered that my touch screen was no longer working. I've checked the Device Manager control panels and drivers and everything is up to date. I did the uninstall of the HID-Compliant Touch Screen Device & Reboot that is noted elsewhere on the Lenovo Search Results and that simply re-installed the device which still didn't work. At one point I was able to access an update log, which said that the Windows update was done, but below this showed that the update had deleted 2 Lenovo Systems Driver Packages.  Should Windows remove stuff that the MFR included to run the computer?? Has anyone else had a similar issue or have a solution??Any ideas would be appreciated.ThanksJim

After a windows auto update my touchscreen no longer responds. I think it is a driver issue. My windows is INSISTING that the best driver is this generic driver from 2006. The display also shows up in the wrong place in the device manager. It's not in the HID list. I'm also having issues with the wireless since an update. It, for lack of a better term, stutters. Other devices will connect just fine and stay connected. But this laptop will drop the connection or simply not 'see' the network. Any help is appreciated.

This is the second time I've bought a new laptop in 2 weeks, because my old Dell's hard drive crashed.  The first replacement HP wouldn't connect to Wifi and Geek Squad couldn't help from the store, so just traded out for this new one, and that problem is solved.  I'm not sure if my Win 10 is 32 bit or 64 bit, BTW, and don't know if it matters for this issue.  I was on my laptop last night and the keyboard kept acting wonky--slow response and I'd have to hit a key a few times to get the letter/number to type at times.  Also, even though I hit the numlock key, it wouldn't stay locked.  Please tell me this is a quick driver reset.  I really don't want to go back to Best Buy again.

Hi ,Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are having an issue with the keyboard not responding. I will be glad to help you. Please download and install Synaptics TouchPad Driver.  I know this is for the touch pad, but sometime the touchpad can slow down the keyboard. As both are input devices. Here is a document for Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 10, 8). Please keep me informed of how things went. If you require further assistance, let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help you. Please let me know if this resolves the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution".To simply say thanks, click the Thumbs up below!  Thanks.

Hi guys nbsp nbsp So I have had a yoga screen "bubble" issue 13 Yoga touch for about a year now love it however I have come across a minor issue that started occuring about - months ago When I open up my yoga from sleep mode nbsp hibernation turn it on or restart my everything works for a couple of seconds and then randomly bubbles with about a half inch diameter start popping up usually in a horizontal fashion across my screen from about an inch down from the top of the display These are the bubbles I am referering to are the visual effect when a finger touches the screen and expand into boxes Yoga 13 touch screen "bubble" issue when the touch is held for roughly a second or longer However these rogue bubbles seem to spawn without cause or warning and resultingly keep me from controlling my cursor with my track pad touch screen or an external mouse once they appear It is also worth noting that when I made my yoga purchase I also more for family members neither of their yogas share this complication nbsp Though this case might seem drastic however in reality it is small and somewhat trivial as I have found a trick that by rubbing my finger around on the touch screen eradically the bubbles dissapear and release my cursor from the binds of their possession The problem is solved until the lid closes sleep hibernate shut down or restart at which I am required to rinse and repeat this pesky process nbsp With that in mind I am seeking help suggestions solutions and possibly an exorcist for my problem I have a image taken from my iphone demonstrating the situation however I will post that at the discretion of the forum mods or respective savior I'm looking to solve this problem before late Janurary when my get outta jail free card insurance Yoga 13 touch screen "bubble" issue policy ends Join the good fight and help me send these bubbles back to the demonic portal from which they came from nbsp nbsp Edit nbsp It is also worth noting I have tried disabiling the ymc feature nbsp Cheers Gan Bei Proost salute

Hi all, I bought an 14" Yoga 710 and have problems with touchscreen from the first start up. After powering on, touchscreen works well for a while but after stopping to touch for just 5-6 seconds it is coming unresponsive. When it comes unresponsive i press in an area constantly right click function works and also touchscreen works well again for a while. It seems that after staying inactive for a couple of seconds it comes to an unresponsive state. I did lots of things (calling lenovo support, recovering Windows 10, HID driver deleting, updating, disabling, turning power management off HID items, turning to default bios setting) but nothing changed. Does anyone have any ideas? Lenovo could you please provide a solution for this? Best regards

Have you installed the latest BIOS?

If the latest BIOS doesn't help, there could be a loose connection, or the system needs an update. An ASP can do this for you.

Hello everybody,
I just updated my phone to the latest Windows 10 (the second update in about two weeks) but this time after the process was complete I realised that the touch screen was not working properly.
It looks like it is shifted below by quite a bit. The problem is I can't access the phone because of the lock screen pin.
Any solution to to how go back to previous version or some how reset the phone?
Many thanks,
Lorenzo

Hi Guys Have an nbsp Inspiron - touch screen laptop When it boots into Windows and same with Win previously I get a load Finger Circles randomly appearing on the screen Thats - .. Screen not 15-5548 Touch maybe Inspiron sure issue, the best I can describe Same as if you push an LCD screen with finger and see a quot circle quot around your finger point These randomly hop all around the screen going on and off Once into desktop it doesnt seem to happen Randomly Inspiron 15-5548 - maybe Touch Screen issue, not sure .. also while at the Win login screen where you type the password you see them and they can make it impossible to type the password because they move you out of password box as if you moved away with the touchpad or mouse You have to keep clicking the password box and if quick enough will get to type the password amp finally login Today once I was logged in I couldnt get the mouse pointer out of the start menu I rebooted and it now seems to have settled down This doesnt happen all the time BUT the quot finger circles quot flitting about the screen pre password screen always happens Im just wondering what this could be Is it a software thing Can I disable the touchscreeen to see if it resolves If so is that done through BIOS nbsp So I am not sure is it a touch screen issue or a touchpad issue or something else Appreciate any feedback nbsp

Hi I have bought Lenovo Yoga 500 14 i3 six months ago. Several months ago on the left side of the screen appeared ghost touches. This ghosts touches were exactly on one line of the screen, it is about 6 centimetres from right edge. I went to warranty center and they changed the screen. Two months has passed. And exactly in the same screen line touch screen stoped to work. If to put laptop in 360degree mode - everything works ok.Here is the video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xnz_L_11f8Actually I am begining to want my money back.

Hi there, Alex -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Regarding the ghost punches/ghost touch, there were some isolated issues for that issue on some Yoga 700, in addition to that, there is also a fix for it. Please see this thread.
Can you try the following?

Under theDevice Manager> Human Interface Devices, can you do a right click and disable on anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
When finished, reboot the system and observe if you still get the same issue.

Update us how it goes.

hi all,

im not an avid touch screen user ... i use it scarcely when needed or when the mouse battery dies in the middle of my work and i have to continue with the screen.

when i first bought my PC it was win8 and all worked fine... until yesterday and after about 2-3 months since i upgraded to win10, i realized the touch screen isn't working!!!!

i looked up the forum for any leads on this issues and i saw a lot are complaining about function keys being un-usable after the win10 upgrade. however i dont have that problem. only the screen got the touch element rendered un-usable.
probably, during win10 upgrade the system decided to disable this feature so no accidental touch on the screen could interrupt the upgrade process...

if anyone is aware of this problem and how to fix it ... i would truly be thankful.

thanks

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not

A:Lenovo S210 Touch broken LCD and Touch screen

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

My client told me this was a touch screen, so that is what I ordered.  HP 749970-001 touch screen display assembly. It is installed, but not recognized.  In order to use it as a touch screen, would I have to replace the motherboard too?Is there a driver available?  The display works, it is just not working as a touch screen.

Hi keerati,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Check the Touch funtionality in OKR environment.
Turn off the computer and Turn it back on and right away start tapping F2.
Select Recovery. Once in the Recovery screen Test the touchscreen by touching any of the option if it will respond.

If the touchscreen works in OKR Environment, I suggest you perform a One key recovery (expect dataloss).

If the touchscreen still did not work in OKR Environment, I suggest you call Lenovo Technical Team for assistance.

Hi, I've recently formatted my Laptop HP Envy m7-n101dx (touch) and installed Win7  Ultimate (64 bit).  I have downloaded all drivers available on HP website and installed on my laptop.  There is only one unknown device left (acpi\msft010), and I'm unable to to find the correct driver.  My problem is I'm unable to use the touch screen of the laptop, I've googling and found that is there must be a problem with with the Human Interface Device, but when I've checked the Device Manager no Human Interface Device is on the list.  Please could anyone help me out.  Thanks in advance

Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10?  How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7?  You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed.  You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results.  It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

I have a kiosk on which I've just installed 8.1 pro. It has an oem touch screen manufactured by General touch (p/n st6001u). I've installed the driver and it seems to work but Windows still says "no pen or touch available". My customers using the
kiosk will need to type on screen in addition to just clicking. Is there any way to for the OS into touch mode? I believe under 7 there was an option in Windows features but I can't seem to find anything on 8. Google has been no help.
Any ideas?

So I have got a Lenovo Y50-70 with 15.6" 3840x2160 UHD Touch Display for about two years now. I've accidentaly dropped my backpack, while the laptop was in it and cracked it's screen so I need to replace it. The screen in the cracked part is working as it was working before the accident, the crack is on the glass. So I was wondering if I can replace my 15.6" 3840x2160 UHD Touch Display with a 15.6" 1920x1080 FHD Non-touch Display? Is it possible?I've read that whether screen you are changing, its working depends on the quantity of pins on the Video signal connector.

Hello,  I am having an issue with the touch pad, every now and then the curser starts to move by itself or it starts clicking the left mouse button over and over again. Does this sound like a hardware failure or a software issue. The laptop does not have a touch screen and I have tried different versions of drivers with the same issue. The problem seems to come after running the computer for a number of hours at work and the only way to stop it is to hold your palm on the touch pad to make the palm detection kick in and use the joystick to disable the touch pad.

Hey all, I woke up this morning and started using my computer to find that there were white spots on my computer screen that I had not previously noticed. I have had the computer for two years and haven't had any similar issues. There does not appear to be anything wrong with the pixels, as the color changes appropriately - it's just brighter. Furthermore, the bright spots on the screen heat up much more than the rest of the screen, which remains cool. I also noticed that, though this may be a separate issue, the touch screen isn't responding. Here is an image (it's much more noticeable on a white background): http://imgur.com/09sYisg   Any help is much appreciated!

The touchpad has an annoying delay on movements, as if it's trying to be insensitive to small range of movements to avoid mis-touch.  It doesn't help anything anyways, as the touchpad is so big and so much to the left that during typing my palm will always touch on it, and it clicks the mouse away. Terribley annoying overall... I want to at least fix the movement insensitive issue, does anyone has any idea? I don't have the synaptic setup page in the windows mouse contorl panel, I haven't found any configurabel setting so far. This is win 8.1. Thanks!

I need some help, I've done some research already and can't find a solution.

I am using a Maxtor One Touch II as an external hard drive. I have checked and swapped out the power cord and the UBS cord and confirmed all are working with other devices.

The Maxtor lights up, so the power is getting to it, but I don't hear or feel the hard drive spinning at all. I can hear a faint clicking sound coming from the unit.

Most solutions I have seen on the net elsewhere have you find the drive in explorer or Device manager, but it is not showing up on my computer at all. Alternatively, I can't take the information off the drive if its not even recognized.

Any ideas?

Operation System is Windows 7

My Lenovo Y50-70 (Core i7-4720HQ, 8GB RAM, GTX 960M). Would sometimes randomly shut off. Like as I open it, it would freeze, and then I hear a small pop and my laptop shuts off. It would normally turn on and fully load everything after around 20 seconds. But after shutting off; as I try to open it again. it would be MUCH MUCH longer. And performance also seems to be slowed. I updated everything I can, but left the Bios out. After a friend told me about it. I tried to update it too. But even after updating it. it would still randomly shut off. What do I have to do to fix it? Overheating is not an issue, because even when the instance of opening my laptop is DONE. it still shuts off. And after playing CS:GO, Dark Souls 3, or Overwatch after a while. It wouldn't shut off.

Dear Toshiba Forum Members I am writing this new thread because I experience serious problems with my Qosmio X - I bought it in from key FN issue Qosmio - and X770-107 touch a famous electronics store Qosmio X770-107 - FN and touch key issue here in Greece The first problem was the little duration of the battery It was lasting for an hour when surfing on the internet and for about - minutes when playing games I changed the settings lots of times but nothing changed Then I went to the store again where they found a problem on the battery and they changed it However the same was happening Then I changed the battery more times as well as the laptop and the charging cable during the year At the third model I had the same problem After a month I was experiencing some problems with blue screens and the fn keys were not working I formatted it and the problem with the blue screens was fixed Today I am still having the same laptop and the fn keys are not working I have tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing changed Additionally the touch button for the keyboard lights is not working and when I touch it the sound is muted My question is if someone had the same problems or similar to those I have and if I can do something to change this model with another or receive my money back Here I have to refer that I have sent emails lots of times to Toshiba but they did not answer I have also sent my laptops to the official Toshiba service in Greece but they did not solve my problems Please answer as soon as possible Thank you in advance Regards Xenophon

A:Qosmio X770-107 - FN and touch key issue

I formatted it and the problem with the blue screens was fixed.

Mostly the BSOD issues are related to software problems… MS updates as well as conflict between different applications can cause the BSOD… therefore its always advisable to recover the unit back to factory settings to get rid of system conflicts.

Today I am still having the same laptop and the fn keys are not working. I have tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing changed. Additionally, the touch button for the keyboard lights is not working and when I touch it the sound is muted.

I guess you are still using the Windows 7 system.
As I mentioned, due to the updates, it could happen that the system registry and FN key utility would be muddled up…

The FN keys are controlled by Toshiba Value Added Package as well as the Flash Cards Support Utility
Therefore I recommend you to uninstall both tools. Then to reboot the notebook. Then to clean the registry (you can use CCleaner Utility). After that, reboot the notebook once again and then start with the installation of Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility

Furthermore I recommend you to check this interesting Toshiba document which explains all the software preinstalled on different Toshiba notebooks:
https://support.toshiba.com/support/...tentId=3368363

You may also check the Toshiba Assist Utility… and Toshiba button support which allows you to configure the touch buttons…

You asked for money back…
Well, I never read that notebook manufacturer would refund money… in my opinion this should be clarified with a dealer.… but the notebooks are covered by one year standard warranty and in case of hardware problems, the Toshiba ASP should fix the issues…

Same problem when running from a Live CD/USB?A Live CD/DVD or USB flash drive contains a complete bootable computer operating system (OS). When you boot a computer from it, the OS loads into, and then runs from memory instead of a hard drive. This allows you to run an OS without installing it or making any changes to a computer's current configuration. To create one, download an ISO file containing the OS you want to use, (such as Ubuntu, Slax or Zorin), then use something like ISO Recorder to burn it to a CD/DVD or USB key.Now boot your computer from this disc/key and your computer will be running that OS instead of the one on its hard drive. When you're done, simply reboot your PC from the hard drive. If the problem persists even when running a different OS, then the issue is probably hardware related.

Hello.I have an issue regarding my new Notebook HP - 15-ay062nl, running Windows 10 Version 1511.The Touch Pad left button has a strange reaction to pressure, which leads to a difficult everyday use. When pressed normally (i mean: as any other touch pad button, including the same Notebook's right button)  it doesn't work, it works when a little extra-pressure is given. The right button works normally instead. I'm afraid of damaging it by pressing it too hard repeatedly in normal use.I think it's a hardware issue (maybe a Touch Pad/Cover assembly issue), since i tried to reverse the buttons' function setting with no change on its sensitivity to pressure. I haven't found a way to set-up the button's sensitivity.Did anyone experience the same problem? Thanks.

Recieved a NEW Acer E15-575g-53vg Laptop today and right from the start i'm suffering an issue in which (mostly) around the number pad's "." key (high occurance rate with "." "enter" and "3") where the Laptop will start responding like "enter" is being autoclicked various times. Not sure if the mouse stops responding due to this but it also occurs at times when just using the mouse(not sure of trigger)    by not responding i've noticed two senerios one where i can not move the mouse, but scrolling with touch is still possible    another i've noticed would be when the mouse can be moved but unable to left/right click

A:Lenovo U430 Touch Display Issue

Hi alemano ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If the laptop is showing display using your external TV then most likely the graphic card would be performing well since external projection of display is an advanced feature .

The problem may be the LCD or LCD cables that you can try to unplug and replug checking if there are impinged cable along the way and in the port.

Herewith is the hardware manual that can help you on the disassembly of top , bottom cover and LCD panel.
The user guide here and service training video would also be a good reference.

Take time to review the steps .
Hope this helps you in your steps.
Update us as it goes.

Hopefully someone can help me with this, because I'm not sure what to do with it anymore.

This started last week when I was having an issue with Google Chrome. It would open and close tabs when I clicked on them, so I did a virus scan and removed it and everything was fine. Well, the virus came back, so I did the same thing, but it won't go away, and it's not effecting my mouse. Whenever I try to click and drag, it stops/sticks, and it does the same thing with my mouse pad, so I know it's not a low battery on my mouse. I have a Logitech M305 mouse, and my laptop is an Asus with Windows 7 64 bit and Nvidia GeForce G210M.

I hope someone can help me with this issue, because it's starting to drive me crazy! Thanks!

Hi lijish,
I’d suggest that you update BIOS and chipset driver on your computer to check for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS from BIOS section and chipset from chipset section onto the system and install it.
http://dell.to/18r60nI
Also, please connect an external USB mouse to check if it works.
In addition please perform Windows update on the system.

Having an odd problem with my laptop (Dell 1440). I recently noticed that my laptop touch pad had stopped working within Windows 7, yet the external mouse I had attached still did. However, it's odd because I also have windows XP dual booted on my machine along with my Windows 7 installation, and the same touch pad driver still functions correctly within XP. So, what I did is attempt to uninstall the Alps touch pad driver and reinstall it. After uninstalling it, I noticed that the driver that was installed by default within Windows 7, works just fine. However, after reinstalling the Alps touch pad driver from the Dell website, my touch pad stops working once again. Does anyone know why my computer is exhibiting this behavior, and if so, what can I do to fix it?

Thanks,
Mike

Looking into using a touch screen monitor. I use Windows 7 Home Premium and I understand that Windows Touch is available on the version.

If I would get the monitor, do I need to find drivers or are they include with Win 7?

Is anyone using a touch screen monitor now?

Looking at Windows 8, I have been playing with the Consumer Preview copy and it looks like a touch screen would be useful with Win 8 if a person would decide to upgrade to that.

Thanks

A:Touch screen anyone using

Hello Jack, welcome to Sevenforums!

Touchscreen is useful, and fun. It is by no means neccessary, however. Windows has a standard driver, but for a touchscreen, you will want to look up the driver on the monitor's manufacturer's website. There are 2 different drivers - 64 and 32 bit. Make sure you get the right one according to your system.

If I were to use touchscreen, it would be because of application(s) that require it, or are easier to use because of it.

Although I?m not using Windows 7 OS yet, what it has to offer & all that I?ve seen, it's pretty impressive. I'm in the process of deciding whether to go with the upgrade W7 or purchase a new Laptop/Notebook? One concern or complain I must state. I understand that Windows 7 comes with touch screen capabilities, but ONLY works with a human touch? Being physically disabled & cannot use my hands at all I type by using a head-pointer with an eraser for a tip. Yes, I?m not going to be dishonest here, I?m using an aftermarket touch screen with Vista, but I?m leery on how (or if) I can still use it with W7? I don?t know how, but I would just love to get in contact with a MS Developer to express my views. Am I correct in assuming that the touch screen option requires a human finger touch?

A:Touch screen in W7?

W7 isn't limited to touchscreens that only respond to finger operation but to touchscreens whose controllers identify them as HID touch devices, a relatively new category. W7, like its predecessors, recognizes HID mouse devices, which most touchscreens have been until recently. Treating a touchscreen as a mouse has never delivered the best user experience, as it precludes right-click-on-hold, calibration, edge acceleration, and many other valuable facilities. Consequently, vendor-specific drivers, which do provide these facilities, have been used. W7 accepts most of these drivers. In the WDM driver stack, these are lower-level drivers. To the OS, the device still appears to be mouse. Therefore, none of the new touchscreen-specific features of W7 will be available.

The reason that you might have heard that only finger operation is supported is that W7 recognizes as touch devices only those that identify themselves as HID-touch. Of these, only the ones that generate touch-specific events allow you to use gestures and multi-touch. The two technologies most likely to support these are capacitive, which requires finger activation, and wire-matrix digitizer, which requires an electronic pen. W7 can still use other touchscreens, including old ones, but the new capabilities will not be available.

Now I am having issues with the touch screen. It was working fine before, but now it is not responding to any of my input. The drivers seem to be all up to date, and I've installed all the available updates for my PC.

Does anyone have a solution for my problem? I don't want to have reinstall Windows or anything like that, so please don't suggest it unless I really have to.

Thank you!

My touch screen stopped working under Windows 8. I tried every step I could find on these forums - disabling the touch screen driver, restarting, updating the driver - with one exception; under Component Tests in my HP Diagnostics UEFI, there is no Touch Screen component listed. It is there under Device Manager etc., but cannot be found in the UEFI. I updated the computer to Windows 10 and the problem remained. I restored the computer to its factory settings and the problem has remained. There is no damage to the computer, which is still quite new, and which works perfectly in every other respect. Previously, the touch screen might stop working and a restart would solve the problem, but it has not worked at all for some time now. Any suggestions?

I'm planning to buy a new laptop but will never be using the touch screen. Will I lose any functionality in Win10 by just using a mouse and keyboard with a touch-screen laptop? Do touch screen models use a different version of Win10?

BTW, I know I can buy a non-touch screen model and may do that, but we're looking for a large screen and non-touch choices are limited.

A:Not using touch screen

There's no problem with that, any icons or tiles are clickable with mouse, just like everywhere else. For touch screen devices there is "Tablet mode" and can be turned off to behave same as any other desktop/laptop. If device doesn't have touch screen, Tablet mode is disabled by default.

Tablet Mode - Turn On or Off in Windows 10

There's no special version of Windows for such cases except for Windows phones.
