Anyone grabbed the latest version WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe on GOTD here? I missed this giveaway since my laptop is sent to our downtown repair store a few days ago by my Mom, who thought Windows 10 upgrade notification on my laptop was a kinda fishy virus...
I've searched on google, bravo there is another official giveaway of WinX HD Video Converter Delxue V5.6.0! On top of all that, I noticed this giveaway code is valid to activate till July 31.
You betcha, it means I can reinstall the program on Window 10 by activating the code that time.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Has anyone downloaded and used WiseConvert toolbar for converting pdf to Word? And if so, is it free?
Most online references to this 'toolbar' are negative and it is considered a form of malware. I would avoid it at all costs.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/482225/pdf-to-word-converter-free-download/

Suggest that you google for one by typing .... video converters in search box.
The free versions may not meet your rquirements ( without losing quality ).
You may need to spend a few $.
I'm needing to convert some files for video editing. I'm looking for a free program if there are any, with multiple video format conversions. Any suggestions?
go here, its free and it works great. http://www.softwareclub.ws/v_converter.html
I downloaded a program called 4Free Video Converter from CNET.Com. The information on CNET's website says it is free although one of the user reviews said the program was really not free. Also, the license agreement says I am allowed to use the program for 30 days then I must pay for the program "according to the terms and prices discussed in the software's documentation". There is nothing in the license agreement that tells me how much I would pay. I looked at 4Free Video Converter's website. It does not seem to say if it is free or shareware or how much it costs.
Is this program really free and if not, how much does it cost?
I haven't tried it, just find em Versions for Windows or Mac

*waves to the software bye bye*
I don't think I'll ever want to replace Handbrake, mainly because H264 is pretty much the only format I use when backing up anything and everything, from DVDs or camcorders and stuffs.
This is pirated, licensed software. Please do not post any similar.
I need some help! I'm trying to convert mpegs to mp3s, but they all do not work for me. Is there anyway to convert video to audio? I could use your guys help right now. Thank you.
Hey guys, what is the best all around free video download converter. I have got one from another thread DVDSOFT.com which seems to have got very good ratings so that is my next move. Already downloaded one called voobys and could not figure it out at all. I really just want to download from youtube I guess.
I am also concerned about not copying video's that are copywrited I guess. I did try to get one from the google app store or something but none of them would download from youtube?
If you need any more info to help me just say so and I will gladly give it to you. Thanks!
Does anyone know of an online video file converter (AVI to WMV) that is really free and isn't just a test or a lead in to a sale. Oh yea, and does the software really work?

does anyone know of a good free PDF converter?
i found one on-line, but it's installation is confusing me as there are several "ghostfiles" required for setup.

When trying to download the Win10 upgrade, it first takes me to Windows Update. It says "Check your PC before upgrading. Before installing Windows 10 Insider Preview, something needs your attention." and presents a "Check your PC" button. When I click the button, it cranks for about 5 minutes and comes back to the same message and same button.
Is there a log somewhere where it tells me what it's complaining about? If not, it appears I won't be able to get to Win10. I'm running 8.1 Pro now.
Thanks for any help,
Why are you installing the insider preview? its kind of like a betahttp://www.tenforums.com/installation-setup/43117-stuck-windows-update-during-win10-download.html
In your opinion, what is the best video converter (encoder) on Windows? I have tried SUPER and Total Video Converter.
Also, on a side note, what is your favorite audio converter. Right now, I am using Switch.
What is your source and what is your destination format?
If you are looking for AVI to MPEG then here is a list:
1. ConvertXToDVD (Paid)
2. DVDFlick (Free)
3.AVI2DVD (Free and with Menu Creation ability)
AVI----> MPEG2 (you need to use some other authoring program to get the DVD)
1. Cinema Craft Encoder- CCE (Paid and costly, but best)
2. HCEnc (Free but almost as good as CCE)
AVI----> MPEG1 (you need to burn the MPEG1 file to a CD to get a VCD)
TMPGEnc (free for VCD creation, but best)

Just recently upgraded from Windows Vista Ultimate x64 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64, machine specs have stayed the same with a Shuttle XPC SD39P2 equipped with a CORE2DUO 6420, 8GB DDR2 800 RAM, and Asus nvidia 8600GTS.
With Vista, I ran the video with a DVI cable and audio with an SPDIF optical cable to a converter box that changed it to HDMI then ran it into my amp (Onkyo TX-NA906X) into my HDTV (Pioneer Kuro PDP-6010HD). Originally, I had to add a 1920x0180 res but it did work. Once I updated to Win7, it will not display any video beyond the initial startup screen (no HDCP???) so I can't see the login screen. Any ideas would be appreciated.
For reference: the DVI/SPDIF -> HDMI converter:
Amazon.com: DVI + Audio (SPDIF & Toslink) to HDMI Converter Adapter: Electronics
Contrary to what the review says, I did get it to display 1920x1080 in Vista.

I converted a file from windows media file to mpeg2. It was a 2mb file that went to 14mb. I was wondering if this was normal for it to be so large.
yes... windows media files are a proprietary version of mpeg4, while mpeg2 offers less compression.
I run Windows Movie Maker on my Pro bit PC It's not hard just download Movie Maker and replace its application file with the same file from the XP version and it works I do not want to change from using Movie Maker it works well and I am used to Movie Maker. Hi everyone just wondering if anyone knows why Windows ME is not one of the requirements for converter pack? not in Office included ME the office converter pack oconvpck exe from Microsoft When I went to look at the requirements for the pack I do not see Windows ME not included in Office converter pack? ME included in the requirements Am I to assume that since I have Windows ME that the Office Converter pack oconvpck exe will not work on my Windows ME computer I have Office and Windows ME and have some documents that were made on Office and I was going to see if they could be read on my home machine which has Office so I figured they probably couldn t be read without a converter so I went to Microsoft site to d l the converter pck supposed to convert all forms of office from - so they can be read but when I went to check ME not included in Office converter pack? out the requirements for the ME not included in Office converter pack? pack Windows ME is not included or am I missing something Any thoughts help ideas appreciated Regards IMP nbsp
Yes, you are missing something.
There was never a version of Office ME.
Do not confuse Windows versions with Office Versions, they are entirely different.
As far as Windows versions go, ME is officially included in the Windows 9x range as well, (95/98/ME). But this info is irrelevant to your needs.
Is there a .rar converter that is free?
a program to open rar files?
ifso just use winrar works after the 40day trial limit
i've got myself an EEEpc for travel but since it doesn't have a DVD drive (and running an external kills its battery life) i convert my DVDs to AVI files. up until now i've been using DVD Decrypter (convert to VOB and IFO) and Auto Gordian Knot (convert to AVI).
however recently i got a couple DVDs that DVD Decrypter wouldn't work on so i'm looking around for something free that will either take its place or maybe even turn it into a 1 step process.
You might try media coder, just drag the VOBs into it then select the codec and container of your choice then select the location you want the files to go to and it will tanscode them pretty quickly. The latest version even supports cuda so your video card might speed it up quite a bit. It is completely free and it can convert almost any media including the files I find in games that have extensions that don't actually exist.
Unfortunately their site is down right now so you may not be able to download it but its hosted by source forge so it may be back up pretty soon.
Edit: I think you can download it from here now. http://majorgeeks.com/MediaCoder_d4987.html
Free cda to mp3 converter
I just bought a Sandisk mp3 player and have some "cda" music files on my computer I want to upload to the player.
Looking for a converter.
I've had this comp desktop PC for more than a year before running into this problem as I hadn't needed to create a pdf in awhile whatever is needed to create pdf's is not there and nothing I've tried works I could be mistaken but I think my previous PC and laptop had Adobe Acrobat something-or-other but when I downloaded and tried to use it there's all kinds of junk on the top and side- former being a bunch of icons print etc and latter being edit options I need clean neat pdf's for a couple of purposes and this version called DC isn't it Also tried cutepdf sodapop or something like that and they're just as bad Does anyone know of a free pdf converter that will produce the results I want If it's relevant I have Windows Home Edition and OpenOffice I went to the OO forum and was advised to change the username on file folder- did that and the entire computer wiped out Had to run SystemRestore twice to bring everything back Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated
I don't use OpenOffice but here's a tutorial on exporting to PDF. However, if you want to be able to convert, not just OpenOffice documents, but all documents to PDF, what you need is a PDF printer. A PDF printer will show up as an optional printer which you can select to "print" a file to PDF. In that case, I would recommend doPDF. Notice I linked to version 7.3.398. That's because I have found later versions to be unnecessarily bloated.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/612424/free-pdf-converter/
Last two days i spend looking for free video converter, I manage to viruse my laptop with one of them and all the rest I cheacked , while converting from .mp4 to .wmv i lost on quality of audio( I wont to upload video to one of popular website).
Can any of you guys recommend some(preferable) free converter that will not make audio worse ??
Intel(R) Core(TM)i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz
i got the "free mp3 wma converter", it works sometimes, mostly it does not,
i downloaded the wma converting add-on, still i get messages saying i can not convert because of protected content, but i was able to convert the same song yesterday,
does anybody know what the problem with my mp3 converter might be???
Are you converting to or from WMAs? If it's from, use Foobar to save them to WAV, then encode to MP3.
i have been searching everywhere for a free m4v converter that will allow me to convert a m4v type file to mp4 or avi. i found many programs that will do this claiming to be free but all of them have some kind of trial restriction on the final converted output eg. only convert 50% of the file and basically require me to spend $30 on a license. if anybody knows where i can find a free program id be greatful.
my final aim is to burn the m4v file to a dvd - a burner program that would allow me to burn a m4v to dvd would also work.
thanks in advance John
For converting almost any format to mp4 or m4v, I would recommend Handbrake. For Video DVD burning, DVD flick is a good choice.
Both apps are free and easy to use.
Can you guys recommend me a program to covert M4A files to MP3? Thanks and cheers.
I'm getting back into music and have various files / songs that will need converting between these various files, and a google search throws up many "free" apps that are only free for a month or so.
Newest itunes seems to have removed this feature too strangely.
any help appreciated!
One of the best programmes I have ever come across for converting and also playing various music formats is Foobar2000
Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew of a free program converter I could use to convert my resume and cover letter (rtf & ltr files) into a microsoft word document with graphics. The resume program I used is Winway Resume 9.0. The resume program converts the program into word but without the graphics.
If there's anyone that can help me i'd appreciate it because I want my resume and cover letter to look its' best. I need a job like yesterday but without the converter I can't e-mail anyone my resume without it being a rich text file or a plain word document.
I'm seriously broke and DO NOT HAVE ANY MONEY TO BUY A SOFTWARE THAT WILL DO THIS TASK. Thank you in advanced to anyone that responds
I stumbled upon some software [Switch Sound File Converter] that converts mid files to other formats. I have been searching for such a program for quite sometime and this one works and it is really free. In addition if you try to use it for converting video files it downloads a second program [Prism Video Converter] that does video format conversions. Both are from an outfit called NCH. To access the audio go to http://www.nch.com.au/switch/screenshots.html
The video site is www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html
I use their "WavePad" software, good stuff.
Because Microsoft company ceased to develop WMV format in order to compatible with Apple devices, so WMV files can't be played on them. But if you use this free WMV converter, then you can easily convert WMV to any formats you like.http://www.eightforums.com/software-apps/76306-free-wmv-converter.html
I bought a Tclast PMP.

I'm working on a video editing project and want to add a slideshow into my video editing tool, but the slideshow has been saved as .vob. If I can get it to an .mpg, I think I'm in business.
Anyone know where I can find a free converter? I've tried 'Google-ing' it but didn't have much luck. Thanks.
Maybe this might help Ö..
Try here: http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224833
Then navigate down and search through these: (The lower group is Freeware)
Note: I should tell you that I havenít used these since none of my devices require .vob formats.
Some authoring tools can import DVD VOB files directly and reauthor and reedit it:
TMPGEnc DVD Author
Ulead DVD MovieFactory
Ulead DVD Workshop
DVD-lab (no editing only authoring)
MPEG Video Wizard(no authoring only editing)
Tools that can "convert" the DVD VOB files back to a MPG file or MPEG2, AC3,MPA files (demultiplex):
DVDDecrypter(free, also built-in ripping)
Smartripper(free, also built-in ripping)
TMPGEnc DVD Author(DVD to one MPG file, only one audio audio track)
Just in case you need to reinstall from a clean and up to date disk, or your recovery partition has been killed - since we've just learned that Dell doesn't provide replacement disks - you'll find Windows 7 iso disk images here:
The images are hosted by Digital River, who also run the Microsoft Store. So there's no legal issue here, and you can also be sure that the disks haven't been tampered with.
Thank you for posting this information.
I have a 1994 Sony Handycam . I was going to unload it because I thought I could not transfer video from the Handycam to my PC. Then I happened upon a site that said:
"It is perfect for transferring your 8mm videos to DVD or VHS, PC or Laptop, or just viewing them. To transfer to DVD recorder or VHS, just use the included AV cable. To transfer to computer, you will need a video converter (analog to digital) such as the ones made by Dazzle(cheap on Ebay)."
So if this information is correct, I have two questions. One-which converter would work with my Handycam and PC (details below). Two-where would be a good place on internet to find one.
If any video experts out there have some info/suggestions I would be very grateful
PC info: Emachines T5226, Windows Vista
Handycam info: CCD TR82
I decided to go with Diamond VC500 One Touch Video Capture Device. It has the hardware I need to hook my camcorder up to my computer (A/V to USB cable), plus it has video editing software.

Looking for a free asf file converter. All that I've found say "Free" but they LIE they are only a free trial that works only for 1 minute and then you have to pay $30 to use it.
What are you trying to convert it to?.ASF files are Windows Media files so if if have a video file named video.asf, all you'd have to do is change the file extension to video.wmv.https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-7/looking-for-a-free-asf-file-converter/19538.html
I have used dbPowerAmp in the past without any problem -- until now. Today I attempted to convert a music file from .cda to WAV, to mp3 (Lame), and to .wma. Each time I attempted to convert, I received a message informing me that "The Power Pack & mp3 Encoding License trial has expired."
I believe the company which produces dbPowerAmp is called illustrate. Well, according to illustrate, dbPowerAmp had been a free program for years, but that a recent legal challenge forced the company to go to a 30-day trial period, after which one has the option to "register" for $14.00. I was about to pay the $14.00 before I decided to come here to ask if there are any free music conversion programs comparable to dbPowerAmp. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might have some good suggestions. Thank you.
Today I am looking for a free software converter for .mov to avi. I am running Windows XP Pro, and using a Panasonic Lumix camera which produces the .mov, thus my need for a converter, so I can use Windows Movie Maker software to produce a dvd. I did download Any Video Converter Free, but they want you to install AVG software/toolbars, and I can see no way of declining(ie you cannot untick the installation of AVG products) which I don`t want or need. Since this is my first go round using this camera, and trying to produce a dvd which will play on all dvd players, I knew my best bet was to ask the experts here. Thanks for your time, and any imput.
I have a 3 minute MP4 audio file that has a part I want to cut out using Audacity, but Audacity won't read MP4 video. So I want to convert it first.
Installed & tried one converter that I picked up as referral on another forum, but it's output was pure silence. Tried it several times & several ways.
Any recommendations ?

Have you tried DVD Ghost? Supposedly it performs dvd decryption in the background just like DVD43. It's not a free program, but it might work.
Any DVD should perform functions just the same. It isn't free either though.
Handbrake should work in Windows 7 just fine, so all you really need is the background dvd decrypter yes?
If you can't use Handbrake... The most popular options as of now are:
AnyDVD & DVD Shrink
There's also the combination of:

I use the free Adobe PDF reader to view and print PDF files. No problem and it does not expire.
If you are looking for something that will convert to PDF, the free Open Office suite of programs will do that.
Otherwise, I don't know why you would want to convert something TO PDF.
(There are better EQ's than the Behringer in your pictures).
Hello, just today I discovered a new format that might come in handy if it comes to compressing music files - the M4A (MPEG-4 Audio). The question is: is there a free converter for changing MP3 INTO M4A? I didn't find any answers to this on the forum boards, so that's why I'm writing. Still, I know that there are loads of M4A ----> MP3/WMA converters, but I don't need any of them.
Why do I need it? Let me put it this way: some Sony Ericsson phones CAN play those files and M4A means about 4 times more songs than MP3 with the same/better quality. Sounds tempting, doesn't it? :>

Any converters out there, free, for pc, and have the ability to convert to mpeg4's or mov's? I've been looking for hours.
Virtual dub and TMPGEnc are great for normal editing of videos but seem to lack mp4 conversion features.
Anyone know a free and trusted FLV to WMV or AVI converter, I could use for uploading Youtube videos?
Free FLV Converter | Flash Video Converter for Desktop - FLV.com
Just downloaded the .exe file for this FLV converter, seems to be trustworthy, but if anyone knows any other converters which are better it would be appreciated.
I searched the Web for "free mp3 converter" and came up with lots of hits. But I wonder--are these free softwares safe, and spam-free? I'd like to convert some wav files on my hard drive to mp3 format--and sometimes vice-versa. Thanks.

I am running Win2000 Pro SP4 - in home, single computer. I have several images in Microsoft Power Point Viewer that I'd like to convert to JPEG, but am at a loss as to what is a good, reputable, FREE program. Anybody have any recommendations?
I used a trial version of PDF to Word Converter. Every time is used the program, it asked for my views/opinion and contact details, which i avoided. But every time when i used Word, "Open PDF" message/sub menu appeared in the File Menu of Word. The message/sub menu "Open PDF" went on increasing in number in File Menu. Disturbed over it, i uninstalled the Trial version of PDF to Word Converter. After that it stopped asking my contact details but that messages/sub menus "Open PDF" are still there. I tried uninstalling MS Office 2003 and re-installed but could not get rid of the problem. You are requested to help me out of this problem. Thanks
Hi, looks like some bad code you have a universal template in word called Normal.dot this appears to have become corrupted. We don't see that much of this in 2003 certainly it was common in earlier versions of word. The fix is still the same though. You will need to go to control panel folder options and under view put a check next to "show hidden files and folders" then do a search for Normal.dot. when you find it make sure word is closed and right click select "delete". Restart word and a new universal template (Normal.dot) will be created should have no references to the offending PDF reader.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/problem-after-using-free-pdf-to-word-converter-295632.html
Operating System Windows Ultimate -bit Antivirus Avira and now also Emsisoft Internet Security Browser Firefox Hi A few days ago I installed Free MKV to AVI Converter Unwisely I hastily clicked through the installation process Is CNET no longer a trustworthy source Almost immediately Avira alerted me to problem files and I noticed Shopping Pro and Neurowise in my Add Remove window Alas my MBAM software was out of date I googled some guidelines and started running the gamut of scans and uninstallers in sequences given by various guidelines ADWCleaner RevoUninstaller HitmanPro CCleaner MBAM updated Emsisoft over and over the last days Also in Safe Mode Almost all would report malicious or PUP files which would be cleaned but Converter Free Persistent to Malware AVI MKV via then more files would return after a reboot I noticed also that User Appdata folders remained hidden even though I've set folder view options to show hidden Persistent Malware via Free MKV to AVI Converter and system files the scanning software would often pick up files in these folders In trying to gain access to these I foolishly mucked around with user permissions as well and I believe I have made a hash of it I've also tried installing MVP's host file as a belated measure and not sure what exactly the malware is aiming at One time it did replace the original hosts file but now when I run the batch file I get access denied messages One of these files that persisted especially was a roaming profile for Firefox pref js but when reported by ADWCleaner in their Firefox tab the path and file name is blocked off by hashtags at both ends E g C Users Guido AppData Roaming Mozilla Firefox Profiles hlvm kan default- prefs js And every now and again Shopping Pro or some other unknown software would reappear in my Add Remove list Other names that would be picked up by scanners and removal tools include Linkury Gen VO Package Smartbar I found and deleted via CCleaner Installer geforce in my startup On some occasions there would be other unknown files in the startup list as well removed but they would return I've tried restoring my machine to a point before I installed the malware but Windows was unable to do so In the mean time out of desperation I have a conference paper to write I started unwisely I suppose to run more complicated scanners - Rootkiller before running ADWCleaner etc I would reset Firefox hoping to get rid of that roaming profile but no go At some point I would get an error message when trying to open Firefox - that it was already running I thus uninstalled it installed an older Firefox etc but to no avail I'm back with the latest Firefox Finally last night I ran scans based on a thread at Bleeping Computer http www bleepingcomputer com forums t vo-package-virussearch-protect-deleting-control-panel ADWCleaner SuperAntiSpyware HitmanPro Windows Repair All-in-one SuperAntiSpyware ESET online scanner MBAM Junkware Removal Tool TempFileCleaner I then ran ran RogueKiller AVast Browser Cleanup and some of the above again Avira also which picked up about Linkury Gen files But ADWCleaner still lists that hash-tagged roaming Firefox profile so I doubt that after days of scans I am rid of the malware The question now is Cleaning via hopefully BleepingComputer help or a reinstallation and all the user tweaking and Windows updating that that involves And also is it reasonably safe to work on this machine My documents are saved on another partition Thanks

I have a "doc" folder with multi level linked html files. It is the specification of a software library.
I would like to convert the WHOLE folder into a PDF file I can transfer to my iPad so I can access the specifications away from my desktop.
I have tried half a dozen programs/online facilities that, either don't work off the HDD or only convert ONE level starting from "index.html".
I CAN go to the lowest level and convert some info but NOT the whole document.
Anyone know of a free (or trial) (or non expensive) convertor? Supposedly, there are some that cost hundreds of dollars. AND I don't know if THEY work? I don't want to pay that kind of cash and find it doesn't do this or it doesn't do that.
I suspect there isn't a free convertor but I thought I would ask.
Have you tried this Adobe free trial ?
It offers to cost $14.99 per month too.

Will the release of Windows 10 free upgrade be available as ISO
download so I burn a DVD when it is released?
My Desktop is Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit and my laptop is ACER preinstalled Window 8.1 home 64 bit
The only thing I know for now is that Windows 10 will be provided as an optional Windows update through the application of the same name for Windows 7/8.1 users. I don't know if it will be provided through ISO, but maybe the recovery DVD will, just like Windows 7.http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/65878-will-windows-10-free-upgrade-available-iso-download.html
You just have to tell a little lie and say you use "assistive technology".
