Q: Belkin N300 router intermittent slow wifi speed

Hi all My Belkin N wireless router is now experiencing intermittent slow Internet speed The router is years old and has wifi slow router speed intermittent N300 Belkin worked perfectly until last week Here are the troubleshooting steps I completed Internet speed test Belkin N300 router intermittent slow wifi speed when directly plugged into the wireless router and cable modem mbps Internet speed using laptop wifi mbps then sometimes works at normal speed Called ISP and they verified there was a connectivity to cable modem issue Did a power cycle for modem and router Then got full mbps from cable modem to ISP using direct connect to laptop tested other devices such as laptops and tablets all experiencing intermittent slow speed when experiencing slow wifi switched to direct connect ethernet cable to router and got immediate Belkin N300 router intermittent slow wifi speed full mpbs So far all my testing is pointing to the Belkin router s wifi connectivity I will check on the router s firmware since it has never been updated I also found a thread online suggesting disabling QOS on the router But this should not be needed as it was working fine for two years since its purchase Any suggestions to what else I can do to resolve this issue nbsp

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, i brought the BELKIN N300 Wireless N modem-router. I have a broadband connection which is a Ethernet cable(Picture included). The port doesn't fits to the routers internet connection input port. The input port is small(Picture included). What should i do? I can't return the device. Is there any way to make it work? There are 4 Ethernet ports which fits my internet cable fine. So can i use one of the 4 Ethernet ports as an input for the router?

Hi ,
I've been having this problem with my Belkin router since day 1 when i got it.( not new, got from buddy's place)
It's Belkin HI Speed Wifi G router, and what's really frustrating is, everytime i connect to it, I need to manually change the DNS address and switch between 4.2.2.2 & 4.2.2.4 in order to get internet access!
Sometimes it even cuts off the internet during a session, without me even disconnecting from the wifi network, where I would again need to switch back and forth to the 2 or 4 ending! It s been months and found no solution ! .. can someone drop me some hints please .. would highly appreciate your help ! thanks

Hi,

I recently bough a belkin router (Share N300) but it just wont connect to the internet.

My setup is as follows:
ADSL -> Modem -> Router -> PC

The internet works fine when I connect it directly to my PC (via the modem), and other PCs too.
So no issue of MAC address lockdown.

I've tried connecting through static mode with the data from ipconfig /all, but it still doesn't work.

I've even installed DD WRT and Tomato to no avail.

I've rebooted/reset everything, but theres still no connection.

Please help.
Thanks

A:Belkin Router N300 doesn't connect to internet

If the modem is a modem only did you power cycle it when trying to connect the router and configure the router's WAN properly?

If the modem is really a modem/router combo is it and the Belkin using the same LAN IP subnet?

Can't you wait until 10:45 pm, then refresh the available networks list from your device and see if your router is still broadcasting?

My mom has a Acer laptop and a Belkin n300 wireless router that she recently installed. Ever since she installed the belkin router she can only use the Internet for a short amount of time before she gets the blue screen. Other devices work fine on the wireless router (iPhone, iPod, iPad and Kindle Fire). Prior to the belkin she had another riuter and never got the blue screen. Any ideas of what might be causing this? I feel like its a simple setting either on the laptop and/or the router, but everything I have tried has not worked. She has a broadband modem for her Internet connection.

Thank you!

You don't need to install software to connect to a router. Uninstall whatever you installed.

I have a Embarq 660 Series modem, but i wanted wifi. so i bought a belkin N300 wireless router this morning. And it won't connect to internet. I'm pretty sure i've plug the cable in the right spot. And the EQ 660R ADSL router/modem is working. The belkin package came with a CD, and it's the setup program for the wireless router. but as it tried to form a connection, it said failed to connect to the modem. so does this means embarq 660 series isn't compatible with Belkin N300?

A:Solved: why can't my eq 660R ADSL router connect to Belkin N300?

I vaguely recall that the Embarq modem/routers default to the same LAN IP addresses (192.168.2.x) as the Belkin routers do. If this is the case to daisy chain the routers you need to change the LAN addresses of one of them (e.g., to 192.168.3.x).

Or you could use the Belkin as just an ethernet switch and wireless access point ...

JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. [You will not need a cross-over cable if one of the "routers" is a computer.] Leave the WAN port unconnected!

This procedure bypasses the routing function (NAT layer) and configures the router as a switch (or wireless access point for wireless routers).

Okay I'm not sure what happened.

It wasn't happy with me when I cloned the MAC. I was connected with no access, then when I cloned it, I couldn't connect at all. So I unplugged and reset and... nothing. Finally, randomly, I cleared the MAC on the laptop to try and connect without access again, but... it connects fine now.

The following information is from the .pdf for your Belkin router.

In your browser, type “http://router” (you do not need to type in anything else such as “www”) . Then press the Enter key.

If you’re still having trouble running the manual setup option, type “192 .168 .2 .1” in your browser (you do not need to type in anything else such as “http://” or “www”) . Then press the Enter key.

pdf attached is for your router.

Does it give the option to "Delete" or "Forget" the network.  If you do that it will delete the key associated with the network and the next time you click to connect to the network it will ask you for the new key.

Hi all

One of those (probably) stupid questions if you know the answer ...

Just bought a Belkin N300 F7D2401 v1 'Modem and Router' unit but it will not connect to the internet and I am going round in circles trying to fix the issue.

Do I also need a seperate modem? I assumed not, as it seems to be an 'upgrade' from the Belkin G I had run for years (also a 'Modem and Router' unit), but thought it worth asking.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I need a help to resolve one issue with my Belkin router F7D4402 v1. I have got it recently and configured it without any issue and my internet (ADSL) was up and running. However, later I have noticed that, my internet speed is limited to 1.5 Mbps. whereas; the speed I was getting on my old Linksys WAG200 router was minimum 2.0 Mbps.

I have tried to disable the QoS and other options but no use. But when I enabled the Mac cloning it worked fine. I was getting the speed I subscribed for, but unfortunately, the other devices on my Wi-Fi stopped working. With Mac clone enable, the internet is only available to my PC.

I need the internet on my PC plus all the Wi-Fi devices in my house and along with it my full internet speed, not just 1.5 Mbps.

Can anyone please help to fix the issue?

Thank a lot.

It's not the router - - you up against the limit of ADSL.

Am trying to connect to COmcast using a Belkin N150 router. I had been using a local provider so far without any problems.

THe internet speed seems to be very low, 0.2 MBPS or so.

I have tried disabling 802.11e/WMM QoS to OFF but that has not helped much. I also did a factory reset.

Can someone help me out please?

there maybe a conflict between the windows wireless utility and the belkin wireless utility - are these both running at the same time

would you post back the ipconfig /all when it disconnects

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Start> Run {search bar in Vista/W7}> type CMD to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

Type the following command
Ping {then a space and then add the number that is shown against the item labeled "default gateway" shown in the results from the ipconfig /all}
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping 209.183.226.152
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste
For your information only
these tests will check various stages of the connection, the first ping test, ping default gateway checks to see if you still have a connection to the router.
The next two Ping google.com & Ping 209.183.226.152 tests the connection to internet. google is to test by name and the ping test using a number is checking that a connection exists without DNS.
these tests then confirm if there is a dns issue on the connection.Click to expand...

A:Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router WHAT IS ITS MAX INTERNET CONNECTION SPEED

There THe belkin modem/gateway shouldnt limit your speed capabilities. You should be able to find the speed listed inside the modem's status page. To do this..
Click start>run>In run type CMD
In the black window type IPCONFIG and then enter. Note down your default gateway.
Open a browser window and enter the gateway's address into it. Click go
This should take you to your gateways graphical user interface.
Look for a status tab or see if it lists connection speeds on the general page.

Also you can test speeds at different sites. Google search broadband speed test and choose 1 of the millions of sites

Ugh I don t like it when I feel like a tech noob For several years my family has run an ADSL connection with Telstra on one of their stock Thomson TG T I think modem routers It F9J1002 N300 (01) connection drops ADSL reason Belkin v1 no apparent for had worked mostly fine for most of it s life with the odd bug Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason and need for a restart Early January this year it started to Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason drop the entire system s connection to ADSL it still considered everything to be connected to it and there was apparently Internet access but it was so incredibly slow that we pages and emails just sat on the same loading progress A simple flick of the switch would re-establish connection for the time being As time went on this became more frequent until it didn t fix the problem at all so we decided to get a new modem router On the old router we had about - devices hooked in three by Ethernet - via wireless I ll list them just to be on the safe side By WiFi laptops - Windows Windows Vista The Windows one is usually on in the afternoon the other is used probably once a day for emails Desktop PC running Windows Vista It is rarely used though iPad s School makes us have these and they are usually on - smartphones depending on the time of day And via Ethernet iMac - running OSX Lion This is almost always on but asleep I have run Minecraft servers on this in the past with no problems Epson Stylus TX W printer And on occasion Desktop PC running Windows XP I put the router needing a restart constantly down to old age because I figured that years of service wasn t terrible for a stock ISP router So we bought a new Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason modem router a Belkin N F J v It has worked well for about months No complaints except video streaming is a bit slow even via the Ethernet connection I had occasionally run a Mincraft server on it but not often Then last Saturday I set up a Mumble server like TeamSpeak but open source on my iMac so my friends and I could enjoy low latency chat whilst playing League of Legends on my Windows laptop I also started playing that on the same day They had previously used Skype to play but Skype is a bit draggy on the latency and made everybody lag a bit and people kept disconnecting randomly on it Mumble also worked well for those who used it mostly LoL has been the first online game I ve played other than Minecraft for over a year since Star Wars The Old Republic which I dumped quickly because I decided to dislike MMORPGs I don t use an external static IP address so I signed up for a free dynamic address at www dnsdynamic org and downloaded their Windows GUI to change the IP assigned to my host name This worked for about a week until the router decided to almost completely stop the ADSL connection during a game Mum was trying to download emails at the time and she was most displeased It took me about minutes to get everything to go again I tried pulling the power on the router loading various web pages which didn t actually happen I eventually remembered being able to restart the router from the webpage GUI which I did and it worked I thought I had fixed it I thought it was either a router bug possibly a hardware or firmware problem but Mum was convinced that it was either my Mumble server or me playing LoL She has Dad convinced too This is not good because when we bought it I had told Dad it would do the job the sales clerk had convinced both Dad and Me that it was the best router brand and that Mb s would be fast enough for the rural Internet connection we have here so he bought it I hadn t at the time expected to be playing online games in the future otherwise I d have bought a dual brand router I was originally leaning towards a D-Link router The problem is I ve seen it lag up a heap and disconnect about times in the past days at inconvenient ti... Hello. I'm a novice at this. Have connected my main desk top successfully to broadband internet via Belkin Wirelss G Router and Belkin Desktop Network PCI Card. Cannot get second desk top to connect to broadband intenet. Appears to be connected ok to the router but not to the internet. Would appreciate any suggestions as to where I might start looking.

A:Problem networking via Belkin ADSL Modem with High Speed Mode Wirelss G Router

USUALLY, you wire the system to the router first and configure the router
to access your ISP. Typically, you use your bowser to access 192.168.0.1 and log-in to the device.
Once that is working, you enable the wireless feature, set the SSID and your security keys.
Now your ready to configure the desktop to use the wireless.

So I have AT&T DSL. I bought a Netgear N300 ADSL2+ Modem/WiFi Router that is compatible with my service.

Previously with this Modem/Router it would constantly drop the wireless connection for the Wii I have that was used to stream Netflix.

So recently I bought a Linksys E2500 Router so I could be able to use the Wii, along with 3 other desktops, 1 laptop, and 3 phones.

My ideal setup would be this:
Set the ADSL2+ Modem/Router to be just a modem (I know how to set the option for this)Connect the Linksys Router to be what all the devices connect to wirelessly (this would serve as the DHCP server)
I have read that one of the Routers has to be set to "BRIDGED" mode, yet I don't know which device has to be Bridged

Set the ADSL2+ Modem/Router to be just a modem (I know how to set the option for this)Click to expand...

this is being set into bridge mode - by changing to a modem

then connect the modem to the WAN on the router and you should be good to go

Do you have a wireless laptop that you can you can put next to the wii - would be useful to see the quality of the wireless signal and how many other wireless are there which may cause interference

put xirrus onto the laptop and put the laptop next to the wii and post a xirrus screen shot
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

{If the above link does not work heres another link http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/fid,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

A user guide is available here http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-inspectorguide-1-2-1-RevB-6.aspx

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)

To post a screen shot of the active window.
1) hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
OR
2) if you are using Vista/Windows 7 you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
Full details are available here http://library.techguy.org/wiki/TSG_Posting_a_Screenshot

Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

If you are using the Mac OS then use http://www.istumbler.net/

if you want to optimise base station position and signal strength / dead spots use
http://www.chimoosoft.com/products/apgrapher/ which has a graph function to monitor signal

How do you connect two routers together to increase signal through the whole house? I am trying to use the n300 as my main router (its hooked to cable modem) and use the 2wire as an access point. The two are connected by a known good ethernet cable.

Thanks,

A:Connecting netgear n300 router to 2wire 2701 router

For reference, here's a link to a Typical example config using a Netgear router

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me with my internet woes.

I have recently bought a TP Link wireless usb adapter (TL-WN727N). Initially I had some issues with drivers but solved that and my internet was working perfectly for around 2 days. However recently the internet speed has dropped down to extremely low speed periodically for no apparent reason. I can be downloading something at around 700kBps one moment then only have 100B/s the next.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening and how to fix it?

Some general system info:

A:Intermittent Internet Speed slow downs with a TP Link usb adapter

Is this a problem with internet access, or with your wireless connection to the AP? If the latter ...

Make sure you have the latest driver from TP-LINK's web site.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

SOLUTION: Disable Blutooth this with pinging google and get a timed out error in the middle of some good pings My phone and iPad and housemates are fine and I get this problem when I take me laptop elsewhere so I know it's my laptop nbsp I've tried updating the driver software for the wireless no difference Turned off all antivirus and firewall no difference So I came here nbsp After fishing around I finally got a suggestion from the official HP pages turn off Bluetooth nbsp So far so good no problems at all so I think it's solved the issue My question is now How can I enable Bluetooth and WiFi In my mind disabling bluetooth isn't actually a solution it's just a workaround I like everyone else in the st century use WiFi as my standard method of connecting to the internet so if I can't use it with Bluetooth I may as well not have Bluetooth Is there a patch for it If there is why is there no mention of this on the HP support page where they suggest turning it off I've just updated the Bluetooth driver software lets see if that helps

I recently moved to a new home and I set up my pc and the wireless adapter can't even see the wifi despite picking up my neighbours which have very weak signals.
My phone and my laptop both see it and connect with full strength.

What do I do?

A:Netgear N300 can't see wifi

Try the factory reset. There's a a small reset button in the back, press it down (sometimes you have to use a pen if it's one of those pin hole things) for about 5 seconds and that takes it back to factory settings. At that point you can either run the install CD that came with the router, or set it up manually from your browser.

I've read a number of times some unsubstantiated claims that say a WiFi router has a limited lifespan of about - years depending upon a few factors like throughput levels temperature management etc Sometimes you can get them to go for - years but generally by then the technology has improved so much slow router - old age? response Intermittent you'll want to upgrade Occasionally when I'm using my year old router a TP-LINK TL-WR ND it will become sluggish At times it seems to be coincident with the weather like very rainy day or hot outdoor temps Intermittent slow router response - old age? but sometimes not It's actually located in the basement of the multi-family house in a room that is generally kept at about - degrees One thing I do to try isolating the cause is to locally connect to the router via the Admin web portal I always find that this is sluggish as well Right there it eliminates the ISP as the cause If the web pages I'm trying to load are slow but so are the router admin pages it has to be the router I have computers that will demonstrate the sluggishness simultaneously in multiple browsers from different makers so it's not the computers which were rebooted to be sure it wasn't them with CPU running too many background processes Occasionally rebooting the router helps but even when it does it is often short lived And then the next day miraculously the router is performing A-OK I thought that maybe the firmware may have been problematic as I upgraded to the latest version provided by the manufacturer and then ran into other problems like suddenly the router is unreachable I loaded earlier versions of the software and even went to a DD-WRT version non-OEM open source firmware but that seemed to help only for a short while Eventually I went back to factory defaults and from there did a fresh install of the latest firmware--this helped for a longer period of time but eventually the router started to behave periodically sluggishly again What I'm trying to understand is this--when such a symptom of sluggish performance is being exhibited is this a sign that the router has quot had it quot Time for a new one Or are there some other factors I may be overlooking Thanks

A:Intermittent slow router response - old age?

Have you contacted your ISP, had them reset your account, and check your bandwidth?

Have to ran Internet speed tests at different times of the day?

Put the computer and router in the same room together to rule out weak signal.

Who do you use as an ISP?

Is your router network secure?

hey

I'm trying to connect a latop (Packard Bell - Easy Note) onto a Netgear N300 wireless router (WNR2000v3).

I have already connected a separate laptop which is working fine but the Packard Bell (about 6 years old) wont connect, it will detect my wireless network but then asks for a "Network Key".

I'm assuming this the same password that I set up when I configured the router but when I enter it I get the following message:

"The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configeration. This can be entered as 5 or 13ascii characters or 10 or 16 hexadecimal characters".

Not entirely sure what that means but my password is 9 character long.

If anyone can help that would be great, thanks

A:Adding device to Netgear N300 Router

Sounds like the network card on the Packard-Bell will only work with WEP encryption which uses 64-bit or 128-bit passwords. Some would work with 5 or 13 ascii characters words (apple, mothershelper), but most required 10 or 16 hexadecimal characters (1-0, A-F)".

If that is the case, you may be able to find driver updates that will allow the card to work with newer security protocols, buy a new card/USB adapter for the P-B, or use WEP for everything.

What is the make/model of the network card? model of the EasyNote?
Check Packard-Bell support to see if there are newer drivers for the card?

Hi everyone I have a Netgear N wireless router that I bought and have been using since together with an adtec modem on my at amp t internet sevice My modem went out and I replaced it with the now recommended replacement modem which is the Motorola As a result and in doing so my settings are having to be reset on my N router for my wireless signal settings Resetting Netgear N300 on router... to be used for my wierless devices In trying to do so and in going through the setup Resetting settings on Netgear N300 router... of the router again I ve discovered in logging into the Netgear website to recover reset the router settings for the new modem setup I m being told by Netgear that the N router I bought came with only a day tech support and that I can purchase a tech support extended plan for for yr or for yrs for them to be able to help me and synchronize and reset the router settings Quite honestly I can t see spending this much extra money on support for a router that cost me in the first place I may as well just buy another router for to get another day tech support and to provide support in setting up the new one but it s the principle of the thing and it s such a waste to trash the present router when it is in perfect working order otherwise Then again if this is how shoddy and shysterish Netgear s tech support is I don t believe I would want to support them or in anyway encourage them in their use of a policy that is so unfair and lacking in flexibility to such a small assistance request to reset this modem which would not take them but maybe minutes or less My question therefore is this Has anyone out there experienced a similar or like situation and is there a workaround or another solution to this other than going through Netgear to reset the router s settings Is there a way to recover or discover the settings and reset them manually myself I very much appreciate any help anyone can offer and I thank you all in advance for any help and any advice anyone can offer Thanks alot nbsp

A:Resetting settings on Netgear N300 router...

Hey drpepper. You can manually reset your router settings to its default settings as they were when you bought it. I would disconnect the router from the modem and just use the simple procedure to reset the router. You can then access the router setup page and change the default password, network name (SSID), and set up your encryption mode (wpa2 preferred) and create a password/network key to secure your router. Save any changes you make, and when done, power off the router. Power on your modem, wait a minute, then power up the router, wait a minute, then see if you can detect your network. All of the info for doing this is in the N300 router setup manual, with the reset procedure on page 39.

Hey,

my wifi seems very slow under Windows 8 and is acting like its been "capped" by something.

When running Windows 7, I was getting approx 60MB actually download rate off of my apparent 120MB Virgin Media service, now that I am on Windows 8 it appears to be running at 20MB.

The drivers have been updated to the one that was on the manufacturers website, before the update was applied my download was capped at 1MB.

Does something need changing / tweaking on Windows 8 to make it more friendly to high speed broadband?

Cheers

Hi,

I have one of these wireless cards Asus WL-138g v2 and I have it running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit the card stays connected but is painfully slow when downloading and using the internet. I have tried a collection of different drivers removed anti virus software, disabled all start up items and services but this does not solve the issue. The only thing I have found so far that does solve this problem is to boot into safe mode and then it works fine and is not slow at all. Anyone have any ideas on what might cause this issue?

THanks

A:Slow Wifi Speed

As always check to make sure you have the most up to date driver from Asus. Also check and/or disable any software firewall that may be negatively affecting the connection.

Another thought that comes to mind is... what are you connecting to with this wifi card? Is this your own network, or? What is the signal strength of this connection? Screenshots may be helpful here.

When you have a new issue, please start a new thread. We deal with issues in separate threads, makes it much easier to keep things straight.

First think I'd try for the slow router speed is to change the MTU in the WAN configuration section of the router to 1492, see if that helps the issue.

A:Impossibly Slow Wifi Speed, Brand New Computer.

Did you try an ethernet cable instead of wireless? If that works normally, read on...

I had a problem like this many years ago, it turned out to be something wrong with the drivers for the network card I was using. To fix it, go into device manager and find the entry for the wireless network adapter (eg "xyz wireless network adapter"). Right click on the adapter and select "remove". Reboot the machine. It should detect the adapter as new hardware and reinstall the drivers for the network hardware. Of course you may need to supply the drivers at this point if they are not available on the machine.

This is somewhat techy and if you are not a level 2 nerd you may want to get a qualified friend to help...

I just thought of this. You might use this tutorial to see if it is a TCP/IP Auto Tuning issue.

A:Slow internet speed through router

I would first uninstall or delete existing install. Reboot, and reinstall. Is it slow in both regular connect and Wireless? Or is only your wireless connect slow?
How do you determine it is slow? What are you using to test the connection speed?

Hi,

I have a ASUS N550JK-DS71T laptop which has about half the download speed with wifi compared to a similar laptop (with a N-type wireless card) right next to it. So this issue is not due to ISP or router. Upload speed is fine.
I used speedtest.net.
Laptop has the INTEL AC 7260 wireless card with the latest driver on Asus website (V17.0.1.5).
I checked the power settings and they are on High Performance.
I have a N-router set to N.

Would you know any settings in BIOS, Windows, INTEL to check/change to fix this.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

A:ASUS N550JK-DS71T - slow download speed with wifi

That is a dual-band adapter in the laptop. From the sound of it you have a 2.4Ghz single-band router. Try turning off the 5GHz band on the laptop adapter if there is an option to do so.

Also, there are newer drivers dated August for that adapter on the Intel site: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...14&ProdId=3714

Hi, I have the sierra aircard 875u, ATT 3g, Ijust bought the MBR 1000 router to network. THe speed on the host is actually faster than using the att communication manager. However, on the other computer itis really slow. Previously I had a linksys N router and managed to get internet sharing up and there was no speed issue. THe speed noted on the client is 54mbs, signal strength "very good" However this is extremely slow, slower than a dial up connection.
Is this typical, is there a way to speed it up? Could the problem be a slow network card?
Thanks

Hi Team,

I've purchased a DIR 600 router 3 months back, from the time I've purchased it i haven't been able to get it to work...

have been on long calls with the DIR tech team, but all in vein!!!

In the past 3 months I've got 3 replacements for the router.

The Issue is->Every time i connect to the internet via router the internet speed is painfully slow... google takes 15mins to open up

On the contrary when i connect directly using the Modem the internet speed is just fine and the internet line has no issues at all. (its a 2MBPS line)

Please help me get the router to work!!!

Thanks,

A:Dreadfully Slow Internet Speed When Using Router

You might want to try a few ping tests:

1. Try and ping your router (note the speed in ms, should be 1)
2. Try and png your 2nd PC (should also be quite quick)
3. Try and ping a public ip address in your country (or a website, should be under 100)
4. Try and ping www.ireland.com

If you receive timeout errors or extremely high times (1000+ ms) then something is taking up your bandwidth perhaps. Let me know how u go & if need be i'll guide u further :grinthumb

I have a question about my router, it's a Linksys 1900AC. It broadcasts 2.4 and 5. My laptop does not have a receiver to pick up the 5. My average download speed connected to 2.4 is around 10Mbp/s. I'm paying for 150Mbp/s.

If I connect my wife's laptop to 5, she gets a download speed of 122Mbp/s. My daughter's MacBook gets 138Mbp/s. If I connect theirs to 2.4, they get an average of 10Mbp/s. Do you think there is something wrong with the router and the 2.4 network? The download speed seems awfully slow to me.

I have tried changing channels 1,6,and 11
There is also a setting to pick
Mixed
B,G,N
B only
G only
N only

If I set it to N, my laptop will increase the download speed to about 30Mbp/s but I have older devices in the house so I keep it set to Mixed.

All the laptops were tested at a distance of about 35 ft.

A:Slow wifi (dongles) on my router, but not on another one?

Dongles? lol I don't hear that word often.

Could another item be interfering with the signal, like a phone or such?

Is your router set to only use an 'n' connected device, and they only have a/b/g capable adapters?

Router settings could potentially be locking them up.

If their computers work at their mother's, than it likely isn't a problem dealing with their setup, unless it isn't compatible with your setup, but then I guess it wouldn't make sense that they get a slight connection. a tricky one this, for me

Have they tried connecting recently? does everyone have all important windows updates and optional updates for the windows system installed (could always help, especially with compatability)

Is there a chance their computers have your password wrong/aren't actually connecting to your device but connecting to someone else's weaker signal?

Hi all.

Not sure what is up here but we are having considerable problems with the internet.
Sometimes it will be fine although only getting a download speed of 3mbps and upload speed of 0.8mbps.
Other times it will take an age to open a google page and then just stop working altogether.
Sometimes turning off the router and waiting a minute or so will get us back to 3mbps but it doesn't always last. Everytime we turn laptop on we have to reset the router again.  It as though there is too much going through it and it jamming up all the time. Is this possible or am I infected with something?

When i upgraded to 10MB connection MSN/WLM file transfers were extremly faster than ever before.

To
Cable Modem vai Ethernet again.
cable modem to Internet.

Now since then i've had very bad transfers on some occassions you get the message saying "experiencing a slow connection click here to fine out why."

Usually inicates your behind a firewall.

I Don't have the firewall enabled on My wireless router, i use only Windows XP SP2 built in Firewall.

Does anyone no of a way i can fix MSN/WLM transfers?

A:Slow MSN/WLM transfer Speed since wireless router installed.

You don't have to enable the firewall functionality in the router - it is inherent. You have to forward certain ports to your computer or enable UPnP to allow MSN active file transfers.

I just bought a new modem to replace the one I am renting from Comcast (Motorola SB6120: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825122009). I have been using an Encore (EHH-WI-G) 802.11g 54Mbps router.

I got everything hooked up last night and I noticed that when I was hooked up directly to the modem (ethernet), my internet was super fast. When I hooked up the wireless router and accessed the internet through it, my speed was noticeably slower. I used speedtest.net to see what my speeds were like:

Wired to modem: download 50+ Mbps (I don't know how in the world it read this high...I'm not even paying for these speeds from Comcast)

Wireless through router: download only around 5 Mbps

Can someone explain this to me? Is there a setting on my router that is restricting the speed in some way?

Power down PC...while it off remove USB wifi adapter....power on PC. When PC has finished booting up, search in the uninstall programs list for any software related Netgear and uninstall it. Reboot and start the process again.

According to the system requirements for that device, it does not support windows 10, which may be you issue.

Technically speaking, yes. You've added another "hop" for the packets to have to travel to and from.

But it's not to any degree that you will notice.

I bought a TP-Link TL-WR84N last week. I have a 50ft Ethernet cable connecting my ISP provided modem/router to the TP-Link router. The wired connection from the TP-Link to my computer is good (90mbps). However, the WiFi download speed is super slow (1.8mbps).
The router's firmware is up-to-date. (3.14.4 Build 131129 Rel.39318n)
The main reason I'm setting this up is for a stable Chromecast connection.

Any suggestions to improve the WiFi speed?

So today my laptop's been surfing sloooooow. I'd reboot, but it didn't matter. Finally I went around the house and shut down my wife's laptop, rebooted the WiFi router and cable modem, and turned off the wireless printer. Once everything came back up I was back up to normal speed.

Is it possible that a WiFi connection can just get gummed up and need to be rebooted? Or maybe there's some sort of chitchat going on between the wireless printer and the router that just keeps growing until the whole network slows to a crawl?

Just curious to know about the some of the quirks of wireless routers and networks, if you have a moment.

Cable modem -> Router -> PC through RJ45. I am able to access internet from my PC, but I am not able to get wifi working on the router. And I am logging onto internet through a dial up connection.
Questions:
1) Please help in configuring the router to get wifi working.
2) Also, my default gateway seems to be either 0.0.0.0 or blank. So, I am not able to login to the modem unless I remove the modem connection. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here.

Here are a few more details:

A:Using dlink D2750U Wifi Modem/Router As a Wifi Router

Hey Narain. The D-Link unit you have appears to be a combo unit (modem and wireless router) since it connects straight to the RJ-11 phone line. This unit won't work with an ISP that provides service by way of coax cable. The D-Link will work if you want to use DSL, but you need a cable service compatible modem or combo modem/router if you use cable service.

My CPU fan gets extremely fast about every 20 minutes, and it lasts about thirty seconds.

I'm worried my computer is overheating. I use it for work.

I had my motherboard replaced about a year ago. My CPU fan and my motherboard are now two different brands, so maybe the repair guys used the old fan with the new motherboard, somehow leading to this problem.

I took the fan out and cleaned out a huge buildup of dust. Now the fan still speeds up every 20 minutes, but now it goes much faster.

SPECS

Motherboardegatron. Model # M2N78-LA Violet.
CPU fan:Foxconn DC Brushless fan.

Just installed a belkin n600 wifi extender (model 9F9K1106). I used a windows 7 notebook for the simple setup and it appears to work fine. I have a Comcast SMC D3 modem/wifi/router as my main wifi. The trouble is that my iPad, iPhone, linux notebook, and android phone see the extender and connect ok but cannot access the internet. It appears to only work with windows. Any suggestions?

A:Display problems with Belkin Hi-Speed USB Dockstation

Wow. Except for the model number on your laptop, you and I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same docking station--the VGA support for Win7/64. I got around it by using the HDMI port on my laptop and hooked in a small HDTV I wasn't using. Does your device support HDMI? It's one way around the problem.

Also, have you been able to get your printer to work via the parallel port? Mine won't send the page to the printer.

Hello,And welcome to BleepingComputer.com, before we can assist you with your question of: Am I infected? You will need to perform the following tasks and post the logs of each if you can.Malwarebytes Anti-MalwareNOTEMalwarebytes is now offering a free trial of their program, if you want to accept it you will need to enter some billing information, so that at the end of the trial you would be charged the cost of the product. Please decline this offer, if you are unable to provide billing information. If you want to try it out, then provide the billing information. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.SUPERAntiSpyware:Please download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware FreeDouble-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation. An icon will be created on your desktop.
