I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My best opinion as to why you are having problems is incompatibility. Looking at the chipset for your motherboard (Intel Beachwood X38), it is linked for a PCI Express slot version 1.1. The Geforce GTX 660 DirectCU is a PCI Express 3.0 card. Not all PCI Express 3.0 cards will work in a PCI Express 1.1 slot. Multiple people have had problems with said issue. If you are looking for better compatibility, I would suggest getting a PCI Express 2.1 (or 2.0) video card. You will have less issues getting it to work properly.

I have Workstation xw4600 motherboard E93839 front panel connector is a 18 Pin. I cannot connect the front panel such as power switch button, reset button, HDD LED, and etc. Is there a pinout schematic for this motherboard's front pannel? Above on the left is this specific forum's search box, and if you type in pinout and then hit return you will find what you need.  The HP workstations of this era (xw6400 xw6600 xw4600 etc) used very similar pinouts with slight variations, and there are excellent posts in there where you can see all the variations.   All the important ones will be there for you.  Even the wiring colors have been quite uniform.  Makes sense they would do it that way.

My monitor shuts down when I attempt to play a game. I'm thinking It only kicks into full speed when I start running a game? - Which causes the Monitor shutdown?
My graphic drivers are up to date.

So is my PSU good enough?
Thank you

A:Will my PSU will work for this new GTX 770 2GB DirectCU II ?

I think youve come across the issue with budget psus. ive googled it and I cant find much useful information at all.

im presuming the "atx 750" is their attempt at saying its a 750w, which yes is fine for a gtx 770. I run mine off of a 650w.

however I dont think your psu is up to the task regardless. a decent branded psu is essential for a gaming rig, having a quick nose on ebay ankermann psu's go for around $10-20, not in the $100-200 youd expect to pay for a decent branded on.

personally id ditch the psu regardless and get something branded, it will be a ticking time bomb of which it could take out your cpu, gpu and mobo if it went pop during use.

for now make sure both 4/6pin power connectors are attached to the psu. if you are using molex adapters then this could be the issue. they need to run off seperate rails.

You should try also to ask/browse at the Asus ROG GeForce Graphic Cards Forums must be some having kind of this issue you're mentioning.

You're PSU is fine for One GTX 770 DC2 card. Try not use the adapter Asus have furnished inbox but power it directly from the PSU dedicated viudeo PCI-e rails.

Be careful with updading your Graphics card vBios. You could save the original one using latest GPU-Z (small icon in Bios version section).

I saw that the last vBios for that card GTX 770 DC2 is from October 30, 2013, which seems if yours is brand new that it got the most up-to-date vBios.

Hi All,

So swapped out my old dual core cpu for a quad core Q9650. Win 7 booted fine but on start up the bios asked for a microcode update.

The update was installed and now I get a BSOD on boot up.

I understand its a driver issue but do not know what driver is requiring an update.

Please advise urgently, I need this computer for client who is due in on Tuesday!

I have attached the .zip folder of the SFDiagTool

From everything I have read I have not seen anywhere that a Xenon CPU is cpompatible with the motherboard. You may have just reached an unsurmountable roadblock. A Core 2 Extreme Quad Core QX9650 3.0GHz is compatible with the workstation's motherboard. It is also a beastie CPU.  The subject was discussed in the past at the following threadhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/How-much-can-I-upgrade-this-xw46... The specs for the workstation, along with the complete compatible CPPU list is at the following URL.http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01184908

Hey Folks just to installation the received with after BSOD a Asus EAH6850 DirectCU clarify I'm still learning with computers right here goes basically i connected the graphics card stated above and from what i think it might not of been connected correctly Not knowing this properly I went received the BSOD with a Asus EAH6850 DirectCU after installation through with the driver installment and it installed then had to restart like always But once it restarted and came to login the picture was fitting the size of the screen so i thought maybe it might need the resolution chanced but no it was at p so i decided to turn down the resolution and then turn it back up and maybe things might be fixed Thats when there was a crash and the BSOD occurred and i when into the local computer shop saying i didn't have enough cable coming from my power supply so i bought a new one with the right cables everything is all hooked together but no change i still have the same problem though switch to my old graphics card there are no crashes at all I hope this makes sense apologies for my lack of knowledge Dave

A:received the BSOD with a Asus EAH6850 DirectCU after installation

Think maybe you trying to set the resolution wrong. 1080p is not what you want to be setting.

Right click the desktop then select screen resolution. (think that's what it is. I'm not in windows) Have a look in there.

Here we are. Check this out.

Doesn't explain the bsod though but it might help.

I have installed R7 250X (OC Version) in my computer XW4600. It works perfectly after installation and reboot. But after another reboot everything looks like I have adjusted it to best performance in System Properties -> Advanced -> Performance -> Settings. But I haven't done that. Also setting there is selected for "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer". Also I have to manually start by going to task manager after login.

I brought it especially for running DirectX 11 & 12 applications and games. But when Windows is like that, games don't even work. Applications don't even start. GTA stuck at loading page.

How do I fix this issue?

Hi,

Just bought the above card to replace an old AMD Radeon HD 6450

When I unplug the old card and insert the new one, connect the 6-pin connecter from the PSU to the new card and power on - the new card led goes solid green, the fans run, but there is not output from the card to my monitor (which then goes into power saving mode).
Can anyone confirm if there is anything else I need to do to get the new card to work on the XPS 8300?

Helllo everyone,

I wanted to buy the Radeon HD 6870 but it's not on the market here anymore, so I will have to buy another one -- hopefully not the HD 7850 xD. So, which one should I pick: the ASUS EAH6850, or the ASUS ENGTX560. Give your reasons please. I need the answer before Wednesday (2nd of May)

I read stuff about both of these, I'm really "new" to NVIDIA but I am also confused now. Asked people, some say Radeon, some say GeForce... I really don't know. Help me out, I'll appreciate it.

Ask away for more info if you need to.

A:ASUS HD 6850 or ASUS GTX 560 (non-Ti, DirectCU, 810MHz)?

I have always been an ATI/AMD fan when it comes to video cards so I'm gonna say go with the 6850. I have one and it is great. It is typically cheaper than the Nvidia and is slightly higher on Passmark's benchmarks. Also, I totally agree with Asus as a brand as they are one of the bests.

Hi all,

In days of yore it was recommended to create a boot disk...just in case. I don't know whether this is still in practice with Windows XP. From what I can see online...it is. I am trying to help out a small law office who is planning to upgrade to xp. I'd planned to write instructions for them for creating their start-up disks. One question I was asked (and couldn't answer) was whether each workstation needed it's own, or if they could just create one boot disk on one workstation and keep it in the safe for all to use.

Does anyone know? Thanks!

Howdy All things being equal or/vs. ?? A:Workstation or/vs. PC ??

Pentium Deschutes are pentium II chips that started at 300 mhz and ended at 450 mhz, basically obsolete now.

Slot 1 are actually easier to work with, all you have to do is fit them into the slot and put the cartridge retainers into the locked position. Slot 1 cpu's are obsolete and out of production now as well. Makers have gone back to the PPGA/FCPGA package.

Dual motherboards of equal size (say two 450's versus a 900) are a tad bit slower than the single chip version as far as I know.

Only reason I can think of that a workstation is faster is the limited software and applications that are run.

Offically Microsoft doesn't support USB ports on NT 4.

But you can use third party drivers, such as: http://www.bsquare.com/products/devtools/usbwin40/

Somehow, they have XP Pro installed - illegal copies that cannot be updated. He has disks for NT Workstation – legal copies (two have never been opened). I want to take the illegal OS off and put the legal OS on. So far, I haven’t figured how to do that and going backwards doesn’t seem to be covered when I did a Google search on how to do that. I tried “format c:” from XP and it does not want to do that, even from safemode and a prompt window. hi all,

i was just wondering what a workstation is. i'm kind of confused over the definition. i've seen dell advertising their Precision line of workstations with all the high end stuff (intel xeon, nvidia quadro, etc.) costing $$$, while i saw an ad at one of my local whitebox stores advertising what they call a workstation which is an intel celeron based system with el-cheapo parts selling for under $400 CDN. i aslo went to a local university library a couple weeks back and the terminals where the library catalogs are put are also call "workstations".

so what is a work station? i just want to know

A:what's a workstation?

In the modern day of marketing common words are stretched to mean anything, no point in getting exited over meanings..

A workstation may mean just about any computing device sitting on your desktop.

It may also mean a powerful personal computer (not only in PC sense) used for engineering and design.

The classical and most correct (IMHO) definition is a non-PC desktop machine, usually running UNIX. Workstations are made by Sun and SGI for example.

A:Want to buy a workstation for video and 3d

I would not go for an Opteron processor as they are meant more for servers than desktops. For a build like this, you would either be looking at the AMD 8350 flagship or an Intel I7 4xxx.. The main difference is that Intel is faster on single-threaded tasks (that is the major difference), but AMD is ever so slightly faster on some multi-threaded tasks...

Would you be willing to build the computer yourself?

Hi. I am on a Windows network. What would a I have to plug into my swiitch (RJ45 jack) to add wireless? At first, I thought about a wireless router...but what about the IP addresses?

Thanks, RandWald

A:wireless workstation

First off, let's move this to networking.

Tell us something about your current network. Is this a corporate network? If not, how are you now sharing Internet, presumably with a router, no?

I have a PC running XP in my shop that boots to the F8 menu. It will not complete booting using any of the choices. It goes partway, displays the XP loading screen with Safe, Last Known Good and Normal options.

Then it resets itself and goes back to the menu.

What version of XP? According to the COA on the case it's XP Professional.

I've tried a couple of recovery CDs but their utilities to force a System File Check during boot or to use System Restore won't work because they say the installed XP is "not XP" or is Windows NT Workstation.

So I'm fresh out of ideas! I've never seen anything like this with XP. I could use a recovery CD to copy files to an external drive then wipe it and reinstall, but that's the simple yet time consuming way to fix it.

A:XP identifying itself as NT Workstation.

If you have any service packs installed, then you don't have the same operating system any more. If you have SP3 installed, you need the XP SP3 CD to do a system file check. You should have made one when you changed to the new OS or you have no CD to repair with.

The IT guy here ordered a new workstation for me (without asking me what to get)

If it is not going to be considerably better, I will let that workstation go to someone else and wait another year for the "chance" to ask for what I want.

Everything else about the new workstation (Dell Dimension 3000) is an improvement. My only question is about the video card.

Existing: NVIDIA GeForce 256 AGP (Dell)

New: Integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2

Does anyone hve any opinion on the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 card? Is it any good? better/worse than my existing card?

My HP Workstation 8000 will not boot. I was downloading a torrent, and then opened the .avi file, and it told me to go to torrentm8.com to decrypt the file. I went to the site, didn't download anything, and the computer just froze. (could this be multiple trojans.avi?) I had no option but to turn it off. Now it will not boot, nothing on the monitor, though fans and drives are running. I would have made the HD a slave in another computer to save the data, but no one else seems to have internal SCSI. What can I do? I really don't care about the data anymore I just need the computer to work.

Does anyone know what the 775 limitations are on this board? I can't access the CPU support and Im not sure of the 45/65nm support? I want to upgrade just the cpu on an old workstation to give 64bit support for more RAM (which I already have). I'd like to put the E5700 Wolfdale in but again, not sure. If anyone can recommend the top 3-4 processors that I can use it would be mucho appreciated.

A:CPU upgrade for workstation

It's not capable of utilizing more than 2GB of RAM, so not sure how you'd potentially need 64-bit to address what it can handle now.

I'd look at upgrading personally, compared with today's technology that motherboard is woefully inadequate and by the looks of things only supports very early LGA 775 processors anyway. You essentially be throwing money at obsolete technology.

Hi Guys
Several months ago, I formatted and reinstalled XP Pro without any problem. Recently I noticed that when I press the Windows key & L to lock the workstation, I am sent to the main windows logon screen where the various account holders can select their icon and log in. Before I formatted, when I locked the work station a small window popped up saying "this workstation has been locked and can only be unlocked by an administrator or insert-user-name-here etc etc" My question is how do I get that window back instead of the main logon screen?

Go to control panel user accounts select "change the way users login/logoff" uncheck the Welcome screen. Before doing this make sure that if u have more than one account on the pc that u assign each account with a password.

Stop: c000026c unable to load device driver \device\floppy 0\ ntfs.sys device driver could not be loaded
error status has 0xc 0000221

restart and set the recovery options in the system control panel or the /CRASHDEBUG system start option

when the above blue screen appears, the system freezes and i have to reset ( control-alternate-delete ) does not cooperate

kindly advise.........thanks with a star

p.s. maybe it has to do with partitioning with NTFS instead of FAT32

A:NT 4.0 Workstation Install

NT4 doesn't support FAT32 at all.

You will need to repartition if you have created a large FAT32 partition. Create the partitions from within the NT4 install and it will allow you to create the largest system partition it can support, which is about 8 Gb for NTFS, and 4 GB for FAT. You can then partition the rest of your HD as a data partition.

I'm thinking about buying this to run on my second harddrive. First, Is this a good windows version? Is it comparable to 2000? Is it better than Me? And finally is it worth 15 bucks? Any help with these questions would be great!!!! Thanks for your input!

A:Windows NT Workstation

If you have windows 2000 running on your system, then I personally would not purchase and install windows NT 4.0 unless you want to take a look at it and learn something about it.

It is possible that if your hardware is too new, then you may have problems finding drivers for it. Also NT does not have USB support.

You cannot compare NT to ME they fit different purposes - business vs home.
The righ comparison would be win95 or NT...( but still fit different purposes)

If you would like to upgrade the OS and find something better then ME, then get XP Home.

Ok, so I have a computer running WindowsNT Workstation 4.0. I am trying to get it to see the DSL router on the network. I am on the right IP address and have the Gateway correct, as well as the DNS addresses. I can ping outside addresses but can't not hit any sites or ping the name.

Any ideas on what else might be holding back name resolution? The DNS addresses are correct and work fine on the other Win98 stations. Thanks!

A:Dns problems on NT Workstation 4.0

Greetings

Is the DNS server a local domain server or an external ISP DNS server?

Are you in a domain or a workgroup?

The only thing I can think of, is that the DNS is part of the local domain, but your machine is not logging onto the domain (or does not even have a computer account on the domain), and thus is not being given access to the DNS server.

However, if you are in a Workgroup configuration, and the DNS server is your ISP's DNS server, then I have no idea, excpet perhaps for a slight typing error like 169.1.2.3 instead of 196.1.2.3

Cheers

A:Problems with xp and my new Workstation

Did you format the drive before install?
Depending on the parameter of the install it may have been doing a repair install
and thus writing all of the old information to another are.
If that was the case and the drive was near full there would be limited space for the new data.

A fresh install on a freshly formatted drive is the best technique.

I am guessing that if you are running ME then perhaps your PC is fairly old and might not be up to running VMware. It would be best to vist their site and check out the system requirements for running it. http://www.vmware.com/products/ws/Note that you can trial VMware for 30 days before you have to part with your money. There are alternatives to VMwareMicrosoft's Virtual PC is free and can be found here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en However it is not supported on ME.Sun's Virtual Box is also free and can be found here http://www.virtualbox.org/ Again you will need to check out the system requirements for running it.

Hello,

I have Symantec Ghost version 7.5 and am able to ghost Dell Workstations GX-50 and GX-60 model. We have a new shipment of Optiplex SX280 and can not ghost an image of it. We built one workstation and would like to image other workstations from it. The 3.5 diskette ghost disk I made loads the NIC driver, it binds, but then it hangs every single time on the loading. I used the same diskette on the GX-50 or GX-60 model and it works fine. Can anyone tell me why the loading is hanging? Is it because the SX280 is using the ATA instead of the IDE port for the hard drive?

Thanks for any insight.

A:Ghosting a Workstation using TCP/IP

SATA you mean.. It could be.

As an alternative to Ghost you may want to try a program called UDPCast. No messing around with network drivers, great performance, you can clone to multiple hosts simultaneously and it's free.

Somehow i recently turned this feature on, and its driving me nuts. Its not a screensaver thing. After 30 idle seconds the box appears and locks my workstation. I have to ener my password to get back on. Problem is it happens after 30 seconds, so I may be reading an article or watching a video and it locks and goes to desktop. How do I turn the "locks workstation" feature off? I dont need or want it to lock the workstation. Thanks for the help.

A:Locked Workstation

In Display Properties, go to the Screen Saver tab, and uncheck the box "On resume, password protect".

Hi All,

I'm looking to build a video-encoding rig for under $700. I will also play some Sims 3 while I wait. Nothing else planned for the machine. Please provide feedback for how it looks. I will be buying from Amazon. Note that all parts have been checked for compatibility.

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1220

GPU: EVGA GT 640 2GB

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3

ODD: Lite-ON Super All Write DVD-RW (24x)

RAM: Corsair XMS3 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3-1333MHz

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB (Sata r3, 7200rpm, 64Mb Cache)

PSU: Corsair CX430 (80+ Bronze)

Case: Corsair Carbide 200r

Thanks in advance!

A:Workstation Build ($700)

I would strongly recommend a 120 or 128GB SSD for the boot drive ($100) and a WD Caviar Black 64MB cache hard drive instead of the Caviar Blue. You could get the 500GB drive instead of the 1TB to save a few $, but it may not be much cheaper. I just built a neighbor a PC using a Gigabyte motherboard last Friday and I was very impressed with it's quality and performance! Good luck!

Does anyone know a safe way, either through a batch file or a safe program where I can lock everything up until a passwords entered?
Thanks.

Here's my problem, I have 4 kids and 1 computer. I sent my computer out to be worked on and was wondering if it was possible to turn it into a workstation so, I can get more then 1 person on it at a time. I've been doing some research and have read about betwin 2000/xp and winconnect server xp. I am looking to see if anyone has ever used these programs and if turning 1 tower into a workstation using windows could be done. If so, how?

A:Need help building a workstation

Setting up 5 users on your 1 computer, with you as an administrator and your 4 kids as limited users doesn't work for you? Do you want to control 4 computers from your existing system. It is technically already a "workstation"...

16-24 GB will probably be enough, but it really comes down to the size of your models and how much multitasking with these apps you will be doing. Take a look at your current memory usage on your current rig by watching Taskman to get an idea.

is the creative sound blaster x-fi mb sound card, in a dell studio, asio compatible?
is there a driver that would work for this hardware?

A:audio workstation

If you just have the Xfi "MB" option that is ONLY a software enhancement to the Integrated Audio in the PC, It's not a full SoundBlaster Xfi sound "card". I'm not sure what all the software enhancement does. I do a lot of support on the Dell users forum but it's primarily with Desktops, and very little with Laptops. The Xfi MB software is strictly an OEM product and Creative (SoundBlaster) does not offer any support or software updates.

That 1774, if it is the correct model number, must be a new model as it's not listed in the Dell downloads yet as I wanted to check on the actual sound module used (e.g. RealTek or IDT).

I have a Retail PCIe Xfi Fatal1ty on my Desktop and it is ASIO compliant and my Sonar 8.5.2 Recording program recognizes it (although I don't use it with Sonar).

Can I set up the rig with 2 cpu for better gaming performance?  I am aware of GPU and RAMM upgrades but not to sure if its even posssible to run the 2 cpu at the same time? I have a webserver on the 10.10.10.1, from a machine on the 192 network I can ping the 10.10.10.100 card ok. When I try to ping the 10.10.10.1 card I get no reply. I have enabled IP Forwarding on the NT box and started the RIP service.

Anyone any ideas why this is not working.

Hello there,

I have a 2 comp network. 1 comp 's running Win 2K Server, the other Workstation. There are no special services running on the server (apart from being the domain controller).

I can't think of any good reason to justify such setup. Any comments?

Regardless, I want to setup a P2P network. Is it possible to 'downgrade' the server to a workstation without re-installing? If yes, how?

TIA

please help me , how to reset kaspersky antivirus 6 workstation for 30 days (what is the method to reset trial period)

if some one want this version of kaspersky to try how reset trial period, i have not problems for uploading this version in upload websites.

A:for experts in kaspersky 6 workstation

After a 30-day trial period, most software vendors require you to purchase a license or remove their product. In many cases, the features will be disabled so the software is not much use in keeping. I'm not aware of any way to legally reset a trial period. If you encountered an issue before the trial expired and were not able to use the anti-virus then you need to contact Kaspersky Lab Support for assistance. If the trial period has expired and you just want to reset it in order to continue using, then we cannot offer assistance that would circumvent the procedures a software vendor has implemented in offering a free trial to users.
