Samsung 6203 + laptop + displayport

Q: Samsung 6203 + laptop + displayport

Amazon.com: BuyCheapCables® High Quality Black DisplayPort Male to HDMI Cable Male - 6 Feet / 2M: Electronics

I've been using this cable since my laptop (HP Elitebook 840 G1) does not have an HDMI input. It has been working fine for a few months now. I unplugged it few mornings ago, as I have done almost every morning, and took the laptop out. Never even used the laptop, came home, plugged it back in and it's been giving the "no signal" error since. I even ordered a new cable thinking it was a busted cable, still same problem.

Any idea what could have gone wrong so easily?

Thank you!

edit: Forgot to mention that I hooked up my actual desktop PC to the HDTV via HDMI cable and it works fine!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
I would appreciate information on how to take apart this laptop, to clean inside and replace the hard disk, which seems dead.

This is the same laptop made by Packard Bell and also NEC.

Thanks very much for any info or link to information (...could not find anything on the packard bell / nec sites on how to take it apart).

A:IGO 6203 laptop - how to take apart?

You don't need to take apart the laptop to replace the hard drive.
If you look at the bottom there should be two panels which cover the drive and ram sticks, the larger of the two should cover the drive.

Are there any adapters to do this or ways to do this? I can't seem to find any.

I am buying new monitors, the dell u2414h. Now, while this does have hdmi, I will be connecting multiple monitors together to extend the display from the laptop to give me multiple screens. The problem with this is that it only works if you use displayport and not hdmi, so I need a way to convert the hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

I will primarily be using these monitors with my laptop that has displayport, so that is why I am getting these monitors and that won't be a problem. I will most likely hook up other laptops to the monitors and hdmi is way more common from what I have seen on laptops than displayport and is why I need a way to go from hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

Any ideas? Thanks.

A:Hdmi to Displayport/Mini Displayport

You can't, HDMI does not support daisy chaining in the manner that DisplayPort does and you can't use a simply adapter to go from HDMI to DisplayPort and get the features of DisplayPort.

Hi All, I have a Thinkpad S540 laptop with a OneLink Pro Dock. I want to use the display port to plug a new screen, but it does not work. The docking station seems that cannot detect the new screen. I have tried pluging and unpluging the existing monitor.... but with same result. The monitor is working, so it is something wrong with the docking station or the Displayport.I have updated the Intel Graphics in my laptop, the docking station firmware and drivers and still not working.  Can anybody give me a hand? Perhaps am I missing something?  Many thanks, Juan

Hi Peoples,
I just received my new Dell UltraSharp u2412m monitor!
Now I try to connect my Dell XPS15 laptop (via its mini displayport connection) to my new monitor via a mini displayport to displayport cable.Sadly it doesnt seem to connect and the monitor instantly goes into Power Save Mode...
What am I doing wrong here? Is this possible/compatible in the first place?
Thanks very much in advance!
Moris
Ps. the monitor instantly works with an old laptop via vga connection...Plug and play...

A:Problem connecting my XPS15 laptop to my u2412m monitor via displayport

Try using a different connection--hdmi would be best if the laptop has that. You can use a hdmi to dvi cable--same technology and those work. Those can be bought for less than $10.

I am plugging a HDMI cable into the HDMI port on a Dell E5440 laptop and the other end of the cable, which is Display Port, into a Dell P1914S monitor.
Nothing shows on the external monitor no matter what I do or try on either the laptop or monitor?  I have tried this on a Dell E7000 series laptop also with no result on that one either?
Does the HDMI port on Dell laptops support video or do I need to utilise some other means of connecting a second monitor.  Bear in mind there is no VGA output on these laptops.
Thanks in advance

A:Dell Laptop HDMI to Dell Monitor DisplayPort?

Display port is NOT bidirectional. You can go from DISPLAY PORT OUT to HDMI IN but you CANNOT GO HDMI OUT to DIsplay port in.
I would suggest an HDMI to VGA adapter.

got a samsung np700 get two bleeps when opening programs and on boot up.

turned of windows default sounds did not help

turned off bleep warnings in the registry, but stuck with two bleeps on boot up, i thought startup one bleep was normal but the store says two bleeps are ok.

just wanted confirmation from another user that 2 bleeps are normal with samsung as the store did not seem too confident.

[no error messages, pc running ok, sfc & chkdsk ok, devicemanager list ok]

A:anyone with a samsung laptop help please

Two beeps (especially) when opening a program or on a normal boot does not sound right to me. Are you getting two short beeps or do the beeps sound somewhat like a siren? If they sound like (standard bios) two short beeps, I would go in and reset the BIOS to defaults to see what happens. Has this been happening since you purchased the unit or did it start after a hardware upgrade (ie, adding RAM, etc)? Now, if it sounds somewhat like a siren, is your fan running a bit faster? If so, you may want to clean your vents and/or if you did any upgrading, make sure you didn't disturb any of the components while doing so. I'm not sure I understand the "turning-off" of the sounds in the registry when opening programs but, if this has been going on since day one, I would take a trip back to the store and have the rep do a "two-beeps is OK" demonstration for me. You might also want to check your event viewer for errors and warnings when you open a program (even though you have disabled the sounds in the registry). Good luck.

I have recently purchased a new Samsung series 5 laptop, and my IE10 icon in metro had disappeared, I had then refreshed my computer to get it back, and I did, but lost ALL of my programs. I have reloaded a few, but any programs that came with the laptop are gone. I don't have a control-center that my laptop came with, where I could change settings for my battery, screen brightness, and other options like that. Additionally, I am loosing hard drive space, as in, when I refreshed my computer, I lost all of my programs, however, I don't have any extra space than after the programs were deleted from my computer. If anyone knows how to get any of these programs back, especially the ability to change the screen brightness, please respond.

I would also advise anyone who wants to refresh their windows 8 computer to NOT do so, as you will loose everything.

That really sounds like hardware instead of software. But an easy way to verify that it isn't the software causing the problem. Take out the hard drive and see what happens. It should go past POST and say no bootable device found. If you can get to that point, you probably damaged the hard drive in transport. If you physically damage a hard drive, either by dropping the computer or knocking your laptop bag against something really hard, they will sometimes cause the computer to never move past the BIOS.

Good news, if you can get to the no bootable device found message. It's probably just a bad hard drive. Get a new one, reinstall windows and roll with it. Bad news, if you can't get there, you still have another quirky problem going on.

Hello all new to the forum, completley useless with computers past surfing the web.I bought this laptop yesterday read a post about the easy partion manager and made drive c around 110 and drive D had the rest...

Problem windows installed 40 updates and i installed itunes,Tom tom and firefox and all these saved in c drive drastically filling it up.Now i thought with what i read that c would be back upfiles andD would save everything else...Obviously mebeing an idiot ive read and understood wrong....

All my other laptops have had just a normal c drive which everything went onto and a little folder to the right that says recovery.

Is there anybody that could conect to my laptop and correct my drives for me please as im usless with this sort of thing, manythanks for your time and help...

Do not let anyone connect to your computer unless they are known to you, that is really begging for trouble.
We can help you do it yourself without logging on to your computer.
There are a few ways to do this, all depending on your setup.
If you have nothing on drive D you can delete the D drive and then extend C drive then make another D drive.
You can uninstall the programs you put in C and reinstall them in D (they will give you the option as to where you want to install them).
Post back with what you want to do and we will help you to achieve it.

A:New Samsung laptop overheating!

I'm guessing that something is using a lot of your CPU. So next time it starts to happen, right click on your task bar and choose "Start Task Manager". Then click the tab "Processes", that'll give you a list of all the processes running and how much CPU they're using and their memory usage.

System Idle Process is expected to be high as it registers percentage of time your processor is idle.

I have the following laptop & spec:
Samsung R40, Windows Vista home premium, SP2.
Intel CPU 1.60ghz,1.00gb ram, 32 bit operating system.

About a year after buying the laptop I started getting crashes, where the laptop would literally freeze whatever its doing and the only way to get out was to overide the shutdown by the power button.

I spoke to a microsoft tech about this as it was recording the errors as BCcode 54 and he pointed to a possible hardware error/motherboard problem. However the problem then stopped occurring but has been occurring sporadically. It seems to be when i view videos, have alot open but recently it has started crashing with just microsoft office open (frustrating with work).

I was hoping to get a few suggestions on what to do... ??or if XP would rectify this. I have no record of the recent errors as the laptop is not picking them/recording them.
Many thanks,

My Samsung laptop had started flaking out the last week or two - stalling, freezing, giving me weird color shades occasionally, and taking forever to open programs sometimes. I'm afraid that the OS may be bad, but I also don't know if it may be a hardware issue, either.

I recently put a friend's Windows 7 OS on this laptop (Windows version 6.1). I had to reinstall all the drivers again - maybe I missed something?

Any help appreciated. I once lost the contents of a computer completely, so I don't want that to happen again.

Don't understand what you're saying, The sch-1545 is a Samsung Galaxy S4 cell phone using Verizon as the carrier. It runs the Android OS and Android apps can NOT be installed on a laptop running MS Windows 8.

To find apps installed in Win8, you look through the list of Apps by name and then click the tile for the app that you just installed.

I think the laptop is fully functional but it can't charge. It ran out of battery now. I think the power supply is working because there was a green light .

Is it caused by a problem in its motherboard?

could be a loose connection with the MOBO power jack - some power jacks are plug in and some are soldered on

Hi My son's SAMSUNG laptop 305E5A-S01CA http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...Manual_eng.pdf is running Win 7 32 bit.

After he logs on to the laptop just recently the Win 7 Welcome screen stays there about a minute or two.
This since he selected 'Optimize' through AMD Gaming Evolved. His Laptop seemed to run okay prior to this.

Any ideas why this could be?

ALSO:

Would the overall performance be better if the notebook was running the OS with 64bit? He plays games such as:

Counter Strike Global offensive
Star Wars The old republic
League of Legends etc.

Thanks

A:SLOW SAmsunG Laptop!

When the Welcome screen 'hangs' can you observe the hdd activity light? Is it flickering or is it solid?
Besides the issue at the welcome screen, what else has gone wrong since the 'optimization'?

My first guess, and it's really a guess, is that you have a fast internet connection at school, but a slow one at home, so your laptop is waiting for the data to come in at home.

Hi guys,

My friend bought a brand new Samsung laptop but for some reason, around a month back, it started giving BSODs. Anyway, he used the recovery disk and restored it fully to the factory settings. He has installed only skype and chrome so far yet the BSOD again appeared.

The Samsung Model is this:
Series 3 NP305E5A
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
4GB RAM
1.5 GHz A-Series Quad-Core A6-3420M
AMD Radeon HD 6520G

I have attached the dump files so if you could all help out it's much appreciated :) Thank you.

Hello, any help is appreciated

I have a Samsung laptop that is running windows 7 that worked one day but then the next morning it didn't. With a multimeter I have tested the AC charger and power was running through that at around 19volts. I then tested how much power was getting through to where the battery was and it was only 2 volts. If anyone has any ideas on how I could cheaply and easily fix this it would be appreciated.

Other information:
Laptop overheated often previous to this and the fans were loud

Laptop crashed and shutdown randomly

Sometimes laptop would sort of start and fans would blow but nothing would happen, normally restarting fixed this but this happened once before it never started again.

Battery hadn't been working prior to this.

Thanks.

Your link shows Windows 7 on the unit. Could you explain the procedure you tried and what the results were, what messages did you get?

I know at least one company sells a combination drive like that. They should have a procedure for loading it, if one is needed, but I have not had such a setup.

You mention UEFI, are you using that install configuration?

Edit: The link, under the support section has a FAQ about updating the Bios. It seems to suggest you should, so you might check.

A:uefi samsung laptop

You have a driver of some sort for the caching drive. You will or should clean of the spinner and load windows and then you will have to set up your cache drive. Get your manual out.

Hi try as we might if your harddrive is damaged there is nothing to do but replace it to try to save your data you can try test disc or even a linux cd or PhotoRec you would need to use another computer and a usb caddy for test disc or PhotoRec
How to recover lost drive with test disk
PhotoRec - CGSecurity
Use Puppy Linux Live CD to Recover Your Data - Geeks to Go Forums
That is the best I can think of except you might be able to connect the usb to another computer and if it recognises it pull of the data that way

The reason I want inside it is to get to the fan as it is in desperate need of a good clean (hopefully) or replaced...

Hi Guys, thanks for accepting me on this forum.
I bought a Samsung Series 3 notebook from a notorious (rip off) high st retailer 6 months ago. Its been unopened in its box until yesterday when I gave it to my wife as a birthday pressie.
Eagerly opening it, we switched it on but all we got was a lighted back screen and a small rectangular dot. It would not boot up.
Have I been an idiot by not using this laptop as soon as I bought it. ie, has the system closed down ?
I havn't contacted the seller yet.. Thought I would check the experts out first.
As you can tell, My knowledge of computers is very limited.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to TSG, mrtwmsioncati.

Are you sure that your touchpad has a scroll bar? Looking at pics, it doesn't appear to have one.

You might want to consult your user manual to be sure (I'd download it for you and take a look, but I'm at work), or to find alternative methods. For example, my netbook, if I use 2 fingers on the touchpad, it scrolls instead of moving the curser.

A friend's Samsung laptop would no longer boot, and startup repair would run and failed several times.

We planned to restore it to factory original, but wanted to boot to a Linux disk to copy his files first. In order to allow that, we went into Setup and disabled Fast Bios mode, disabled Secure Boot, and changed the OS mode from UEFI to CSM. We booted the Linux disk, copied his files, then reset all the Setup settings back. But now the computer will not boot at all, it shows the Samsung logo screen, then shuts itself off. We reset Setup to Optimized Defaults, made no change.

There does not seem to be any hardware failure since I can still boot to the Linux disk and see the hard drive if I make all the same changes that we made the first time around in Setup. Any ideas what to try next? Thanks
edit: corrected some BIOS terms

A:Samsung laptop boot problems

Samsung probably has some documented method to troubleshoot while booting. Something like holding down a key or two while powering on. Then, beep codes could be heard that tell what the problem could be, when looked up. I'd check into that.

Check if the bios is set to AHCI or not.

I know people like having their recovery partitions - but - if this was my machine, I'd use Killdisk on the hdd. I'm the type that disables System Restore and never has any backup whatsoever for the OS itself besides install media, and since I am very knowledgeable, it's always been smooth sailing for me like this. Others perhaps not.

(My Windows 7 on my main machine has been the same install since early betas. I just recently was given a motherboard, memory and cpu which were all better than what I had - so I bit the bullet and clean installed Windows for it, heh.)

But, ya. If you have an install disk, then Killdisk might not be a bad idea for ya.

Are you using the laptop on a hard surface or a soft surface? Laptops really need to be on a hard surface. The couch, your bed, or even your lap will block the air vents on the bottom of the laptop. The lint from fabrics can also be sucked into the laptop and clog the fans and vents.

I have updated my Samsung P C from Windows to Windows The update process appears to have loaded drivers for all the devices successfully apart from the touchpad In the case of the touchpad a Synaptics PS Port TouchPad driver has been loaded it works satisfactorily except that there is no Windows laptop Samsung for 10 drivers option to reverse the direction of two-finger scrolling When the laptop was running Windows the touchpad driver was for a Synaptics PS Port TouchPad and two-finger scrolling worked in the quot reverse quot direction I have tried updating the driver using the Samsung Update facility but this did not help I have checked available drivers on the Samsung web site Windows 10 drivers for Samsung laptop but it only lists Windows drivers I'm sure that the last time I checked it also listed Windows drivers My questions are I have found a site http www driverscape com manufacturers Windows 10 drivers for Samsung laptop samsung laptops-desktops p c- p c that claims to provide Windows drivers for the P C Is it safe sensible to download drivers from sites such as this or would I simply be Windows 10 drivers for Samsung laptop downloading a virus Or can someone suggest where I could obtain a Windows driver Is there any way to check the manufacturer and model of the touchpad without disassembling the laptop Would loading a driver for a different Samsung laptop be an alternative If so can anyone suggest which model ranges would be most likely to use the same touchpad as the P C

Whenever I press the power key, the screen lights up with "matrix" like screen. Then whatevery key I press it reboots.
Please help I can't see what's happening because the laptop screen is broken.

A:Samsung Laptop Can't Boot Up (LCD Broken)

Well you have three options....

1. Send to Samsung for repairs, hopefully under warranty and if not and want instant gratification then take to your local computer shop.

2. Hook the computer to an external screen whether that is a computer monitor or TV and see if you have different results.

3. Pull out the HDD and try to boot using another computer.

If you try the external monitor and the results are the same then there is something wrong with more then your screen. If the computer renders Windows just fine then you need a new screen which you could pay to have replaced or watch a youtube video on how to do it yourself.

Hi,
I'm having problems with my Samsung Laptop (windows 7 x64bit). I've tried two different usb mice. One is one I got with my iBuyPower pc. The other is a V7. Neither of them are recognized. Strangely enough, both of my Logitech mice DO work. One is wired, the other wireless. Neither of them are working properly so that's when I went to use these two wired mice that I know work on other pc's and discovered this problem.

I've tried restarting after disconnecting the device. Removed the battery (I run the laptop plugged in). Checked the power management settings as well as disabling the selective suspend setting.

I'm at a loss here as to what the problem is. Fortunately I only use the laptop to load other clients for a game I play so it's not that big of an issue, but it's still driving me bonkers.

Any ideas?

A:Samsung laptop not recognizing usb mice

Update: The Elan Smart-pad isn't being automatically disabled when I plug in these mice, even though I have that option checked. Can't figure out how to resolve this.

Anyone here?

I recently bought a new 40 inch Samsung Lcd television, i tried connecting my laptop, which is running on vista to it via a VGA cable but when i go to the pc mode on the tv it says Mode not supported, then it will go into standby. i tried this using another computer running windows xp and it worked. do i need to install a driver for vista?

A:Connecting My Laptop To A Samsung Television

I suspect that the mode that your video card is running in isn't supported by the TV. Try setting the resolution to different higher values to see if it works. Try both regular screen and widescreen settings. There may be more info about this in your Samsung TV user guide.

To access the screen resolution, right click on an empty spot on the desktop and select "Personalize" - then click on Display Settings. If you try all of the resolutions available and still can't make it work - then try clicking on the Advanced button and then on the Monitor tab to adjust the Refresh rate lower.

I'm not sure what information to give besides that.
It will freeze up and not respond whenever I try to use the internet, go to pictures/documents/music, or click the start menu. Sometimes if I wait (longest time waited so far is 30 minutes) it will start again, only to freeze a little while later. I ran my antivirus software and tried troubleshooting any problems. I have not visited any new sites or downloaded any new software that could cause a problem. It has been doing this for about 2 days now. I tried backing up my files but it ran into an error. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Realtek drivers and i've installed new sound speakers in the laptop...still i've got this problem. At the moment i've giving the laptop a full scan with Malwarebytes, Spybot and Antivirus(Avira). I've been into the sound settings on control panel and disabled all enhancements also. Can anyone out there HELP!! I'm running out of ideas for this problem. ANY help will be appreciated. The OS is windows 7.

Have still not resolved this problem, would appreciate any ideas though as to what it may be. I've come to the conclusion that it must be a motherboard connection problem with the speakers as the right speaker sound is fine. No virus' on it and have put in new speakers and changed drivers. Hi there I would be extremely grateful if anyone familiar with the Samsung X plus model knows the type of graphics card that is in this laptop i e is it X15 plus Graphics - Samsung card probs? laptop a built in job integrated and part of the motherboard or is it one that is replaceable Discrete I think it has a intel gm chipset which i thought has built in graphics - the extreme Samsung X15 plus laptop - Graphics card probs? one But i am also pretty sure that it has the Nvidia mb GeForce FX Go card I ask because i recently aquired this laptop from my uncle and he said that he was using it one day and the machine just cut out When he rebooted it the laptop had thick flashing black vertical lines on it You can see the windows log on page and desktop behind them He took it to a shop and they did not look at it but suggested it could be graphics card It has been connected to an external crt monitor and it still has the same problem I am going to have a go at removing reinstalling chipset and graphics driver but just wondered if anyone knew the graphic card situation Also if it does turn out to be the graphics card that is buggered and its integrated i wondered what my options can be Try and get a new motherboard Anyone know rough price Laptop is about months old and so i would like to keep and use it Many thanks Kevin nbsp

A:Samsung X15 plus laptop - Graphics card probs?

Hi, i have taken 3 pics of the problem (not good quality though-with mobile). Just to give you an idea of the nightmare problem (just click the links below):
1. Pic 1 = This shows the start up screen:
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m308/048957/samsung_screenpic1.jpg

2. Pic 2 = This shows the welcome screen:
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m308/048957/samsung_screenpic2.jpg

3. Pic 3= This shows the desktop:
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m308/048957/samsung_screenpic3.jpg

As you can see from the pics, there are thick vertical lines throughout, from start up until desktop. They flash as well which is quite irritating and even more so when you move the pointer.

So, anyway, i would be grateful if anyone could tell me if they think it is the graphics card that is not working and whether the Samsung X15 plus has an integrated or seperate graphics card (if this is the problem). If integrated then what are my options? and if seperate, can i simply get hold of another one and replace it.

If no one can get back to me, or knows then i may try another forum and if i get a response i'l post it on here.
Many thanks. Kevin

Some time ago , i bought a beautiful SONY Bravia internet TV , the 40NX700. I treid to connect my laptop (SAMSUNG R510) to it, with a DHMI cable and it worked perfectly. After some time, it did not work anymore. So I tried with the VGI cable. Yes, it worked, although the laptop screen was black, and could not reset it. After one day, the TV showed, it could not connect with.
Anyone can give me advice on this??

A:The Drivers on my Samsung laptop won't get installed properly

Could be numerous causes: wrong driver, hardware fault, OS corruption/fault, etc.

Ensure you are getting the correct driver for hardware and OS. As this is a laptop, only use the drivers available from Samsung.

Uninstall the hardware from Device Manager, reboot, and install the downloaded driver.

I need to put Windows 7 on a new internal hard drive that's in my Samsung laptop. I found someone who has a Windows 7 disk for sale, unopened, along with the drivers disk, but it says Dell on it. Would it work on my Samsung laptop, even though it's not a Samsung hard drive, or would it only be made to work on a Dell computer?

A:Laptop Keyboard not Responding after installing Samsung SSD EVO

Jano, welcome to the TSG Forums....

Just to make sure that it is the SSD that is causing the problem, could you please try uninstalling it and then seeing how the KB works... or not.

T.

Hi,

I have a Samsung R519 laptop which is just over 12 months old and recently the 'left click' on the touch pad mouse has become very erratic. More often than not I need to click multiple times to complete an action that should be done in 1 click. Its as though its getting worn though it has not been used excessively. Can anyone offer any advice and is this repairable?

Thanks,

Alan.

Did this solve your problem? Only I have encountered this problem with my Philips 6356 router. I have spent 2.5 hours on the phone to Samsung and to the tech support from the store I bought it from and no one seems to be able to give me a definitive resolution! Driving me crazy! I can only assume the router is not compatible with the wifi connector in the laptop..does this seem like the only solution to my problem? And if so what is a good router to buy that will work with this laptop?

A:Samsung laptop not picking up wireless signal

moved to a post of your own
exact model of the laptop

can we see an ipconfig /all and an xirrus screen shot
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

http://www.xirrus.com/Products/Wi-Fi-Inspector.aspx
Direct link to the program is here http://info.xirrus.com/Wi-FiInspectorConfirmation.html

{If the above link does not work heres another link http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/fid,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

A user guide is available here http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-inspectorguide-1-2-1-RevB-6.aspx

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)

To post a screen shot of the active window.
1) hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
OR
2) if you are using Vista/Windows 7 you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
