HP laptop won't detect mouse

Q: HP laptop won't detect mouse

I have a HP Pavilion g6-1b79dx with Windows 7 home premium SP1. Recently it stopped detecting any mice plugged into the USB ports. I have tried all 3 ports with 2 different mice. The mice are optical and they light up, so I know they are getting power. However under device manager "Mice and other pointing devices" the only one shown is the touch pad. Please advise.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: HP laptop won't detect mouse

Possibly a cracked or failed system board. If ALLl of the USB ports result in the same failure,.. you need expert help.... I would first try to get hold of another hard drive and run a quick re-install to see if the problem is the same. If so, take it to a shop that has a scope with bright lights... Don't spend a lot of money. A replacement motherboard will perhaps be less costly than spending a great deal of time or money trying to figger out the problem. Your system is fairly old with a lot of use by now, right?.

Okay, so my laptop is being screwy, it started yesterday.
The problem is that my computer doesn't detect my mouse, thats sort of what is happening. What happens is that during the start up of my computer, i can use my mouse fine, but in less than a minute, i can still move my mouse, but if I try to click, nothing happens, and if I move my mouse over to something that changes apperance when the mouse is over it, nothing happens.
All help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

PS: I can move and click perfectly while in safe mode, if that helps you understand anything :P

Hello! Registered because I really need help.

My Compaq laptop (Vista) was working just fine last night, connected to my home wireless network all right and all. Today morning my laptop couldn't detect my home wireless network at all, but it could still detect a bunch of other networks from the neighbours. My iPhone can detect my network with no problems, my desktop computer is wired up to the router, works fine too. It's a D-Link DIR-655. This has happened before but usually gets solved when I reboot (switching off and on) my router. I've tried that, tried restarting my computer too, no use. Haven't tried anything beyond that because I'm an idiot with computers.

Can anyone help me please? Thank you.

Hi, I've had this stupid problem before, but now I'm stumped. Just got this pc with win98 and a mouse plugged into a serial port with an adapter (theres no usb). At the start I get the "windows does not detect a mouse" message. I tried rebooting, safe mode, still no mouse. In the system info it has a yellow ! on it. In the control panel I selected the mouse controls, they show the mouse, but I can't test it at all. I don't know how to do anything with the keyboard only! Can anyone give me the keyboard commands to resolve this? The mouse is good on my other pc. When I first set it up I mistakenly plugged in into the keyboard port, if that makes any diff. Help appreciated!

As well as other specs, like the ms and such. I bought a mouse from China on Ebay for about 8$ new. The specs say its the same as the death adder, but I have my doubts. I am sure its still a good mouse for the price, but Im curious how good is it? I wanna know did they copy paste the death adder specs or did I really get a smoking deal on this mouse?

Run a repair installation. Let it detect your original settings. Of course if it repairs everything and you have not updated the repair since loading programs, all programs will have to be reinstalled. This should get your Touchpad working again.

So I recently upgraded to Windows but had to revert back to Windows because it doesn't seem to be mouse 7 or won't Windows keyboard detect compatible with my router just going to wait for drivers That said once I began the revert process I decided to get my old computer out Windows 7 won't detect mouse or keyboard to use while I waited I then unplugged my mouse and keyboard to use on my old PC as I didn't have any spare However once the revert to Windows had finished I plugged my mouse and keyboard back in Windows 7 won't detect mouse or keyboard and Windows was unable to detect them I understand the problem I should have kept them both plugged in so Windows Windows 7 won't detect mouse or keyboard could detect them and install drivers properly However I think I've tried almost everything I've tried unplugging and plugging them back in and out I've tried other USB ports I tried repairing and reinstalling Windows via the disc but I can't do anything because the install process won't detect my keyboard fml and I even went to the extreme of trying to wipe my entire hard drive with Dban but for some odd reason that wouldn't work too Any help with this matter would be most appreciated Edit I can use my mouse and keyboard in my BIOs no problem it's just that when Windows boots up they fail to work Furthermore my motherboard is the Gigabyte B M-D H just in case my issue involves going into my BIOS and you need to know the model

System can't detect them, but they both work in BIOS, sounds interesting. I think, you should test them in safe mode,if mouse and keyboard works in safe mode, then br sure, your hardware and drivers have no issues.
Just let me know if they work in safe mode, good luck

I tried a usb mouse and it won't detect that either. I have an adapter with two usb ports and a ps/2 port on it connected to the motherboard.
Not sure if I'm missing the drivers?? Please help...............

A:Windows 98Se will not detect my mouse

Well there a few things that could be wrong here, First of course is a driver issue or it could be that the PS/2 port is dead (although I dont see why) Does your keyboard work?? and does Bios detect that your Mouse is there? it could be a corrupted file in Windows thats all I can really think of. Until then if you have a serial mouse lying around see if that works. or you could try getting an adapter. And for your USB it has to have the drivers installed because 98 didnt support plug and play fro USB or as far as I know it didn't

i have a dell laptop with windowsXP. about a month ago the speaker were working correctly but after some kid messed with the computer (maybe he deleted something)... now the speakers don't work.
when I go to control panel -> sound it says that there are no sound devices installed for sound playback... reading.... sound recording or anything when i go to hardware it shows this:
-LG DVD-ROM DRN8080B
-ESS Maestro 3 PCI Audio (WDM)
-Audio Codecs
-Legacy Audio Drives
-Media Control Devices
-Legacy Video Capture devices
-Video Codecs

can anybody help me?

A:Laptop does not detect speakers

Try upgrading your sound card drivers, some crucial files may have become corrupted, if there is not a newer version available, uninstall them completely and then reinstall them. If the problem remains, make sure that none of the volume control settings are muted.
BTW, this is assuming you checked to make sure all connections and cables were connected correctly and that your speaker system is receiving power. Hope this works for you, good luck :grinthumb

I'm trying to transfer files from my laptop to my computer. My computer can't detect my laptop through the router (DI-604: 4-Port Broadband Router) and vise versa. Yesterday, I could transfer files between my laptop and computer and today, it seems I can't. I didn't do anything different today... Both are set network discovery "on", file sharing "on", public folder sharing "on" ("Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can open, change and create files" is checked off), printer sharing "on" and password protecting sharing "off". I don't know what's going on... I can surf the Internet no problem so it's definitely not my connection...

What can I do to fix whatever problem I have?

A:Laptop cant detect network

Welcome to TSG:
Let's start with some basics.
Make and model of modem and router.?
operating system and level?

Let's check the connection basics, like so:

Basic network setup procedure

From a Johnwill tech tip:

The following procedure should get you a connection with any broadband modem that is configured to use DHCP for the router connection, such as cable modems, and many DSL modems. If you require PPPoE configuration for the DSL modem, that will have to be configured to match the ISP requirements.

Note that the wireless encryption and channel selection will have to be done after the basic wired connection is established, the first step is to get wired connections working.
• Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.
• Turn off everything, the modem, router, computer.
• Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
• Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
• Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
• Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
• Boot the computer.

When the computer is completely booted, let's see this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

NOTE: For the items below surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous command output!

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

I have an HP Pavilion dv5 Notebook PC that's running Windows 7 Home Premium. For at least a year, I have used a USB device that allows you to insert an SD card (that I use for my digital pictures) and then plug it into a USB port on the PC to upload digital pictures. For some reason, it won't work. The light on the USB device does not light up at all and I cannot find the drive anywhere. I used to be able to go to "Computer" and then see it in a "G" drive (or some other letter of the alphabet). I have tried to use all 3 of the USB drives where it will fit and I've also restarted the PC several times. Any ideas what to do?

So about a week ago my computer stopped picking up wifi signals even though I know they're active. I can connect to the internet using an ethernet cable, but my computer doesn't even detect the wireless internet that any device puts out. Could you please help me?

A:My laptop won't detect wireless networks.

can we see a device manager screen shot and a xirrus screen shot

you can do this while connected by cable and then post the results

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.
http://www.xirrus.com/Products/Wi-Fi-Inspector.aspx
Direct link to the program is here http://wpc.475a.edgecastcdn.net/00475A/XirrusWiFiInspectorSetup.1.2.0.exe

{If the above link does not work heres another link http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/fid,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

A user guide is available here http://www.xirrus.com/Products/Wi-Fi-Inspector/xirruswifiinspectorguide1-2-0.aspx

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
Full details are here http://library.techguy.org/wiki/TSG_Posting_a_Screenshot

Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better.

If you are using the Mac OS then use http://www.istumbler.net/
------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Device Manager
Post back the results in device manager
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

how to access device manager for different windows versions
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm

windows key and pause Key should open to allow device manager to be seen,
on a laptop you may need to use windows key + FN key + Pause Key

if this does not work then

Windows 7 or Vista
Click on the Start Orb
In the Start Search box type
device manager and then press enter

-------------------

Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager
network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X
post a screen shot of the device manager - network adapters

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.

HP G60-635DX laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium.

Using a Netgear Wireless-N Router Model WNR2000.

My GF just bought herself this new laptop, and were having trouble detecting or connecting to my home Wireless network. She did a scan for surrounding networks and found a bunch but did not list my network.

I thought maybe there was a problem with my router and shut it off and back on again, but that didn't help. The PCs connected via cable to the router have internet access jut fine, and My Xbox 360 and Wii are connected wireless without trouble.

Any ideas on how to get her laptop to detect my wireless network?

Hi -

Does the Ethernet connection on laptop provide Internet connectivity?

As for wifi, let's check drivers, signal, etc...

Download the EXE file, save to Documents. RIGHT-click on EXE file, select "Run as Administrator"

2 Notepads will open behind each other. Save both, zip them up and attach to your next post.

A:Laptop wont detect external usb HDD

A few things it could be...
1) A power issue. Are you trying this with the laptop running on the AC adapter ? ?
2) A HDD problem. Try hooking that drive up to another machine and see if it is picked up.

The issue with USB2 is not the problem as the unit was working at one time, but you can check your MBoard manual and it will tell you what type USB you have.

Have you checked your Display Options?

With the monitor connected, right click on the desktop and choose Screen Resolution. In the window that opens you can (should) see two monitors, and options for using them.

If you don't see 2 monitors, the click the Detect button and see if it is recognized then.

Hi.

In a house with 2 pc's and 3 laptops.

All are working fine expcept for one laptop.

It was happily connected to the wireless network one day and then the next it wouldn't detect the wireless network, even though it was sitting next to the router. Tried viewing wireless networks, refreshing network list etc.

It will work fine if it is connected by a wire to the router, and is picking up our neighbours networks. Just not ours!

It works on Windows XP.

Any help will be much appreciated.

I know it's not the router since I am still able to connect to it via other devices. I restarted the router just in case but that has done nothing.

A:Solved: I need help! My laptop could not detect wireless.

you could try a restore to a date it was working, looks like you need drivers for all the network connections

whats the dell service tag number on the laptop - we can find the correct driver

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Restore PC to an Earlier Date & Time

Go Start>>All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore
Click in the radio button Choose a different restore point
Click Next
put a tick in Show more restore points
Pick a Date before this happened
Click Next
This should restore the PC to that time & date

you may need to use safemode to do the restore. As the PC starts keep tapping F8 - a menu will appear - choose safemode

If the wireless will not turn on then the adapter or the switch is defective.

One caveat: I have a HP wireless utility on one of my laptops and for the wireless to be on both the physical switch has to be on and the Wi-Fi has to be turned on in the utility. Make sure you don't have a similar utility.

Hello,
I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I don't really get what exactly the informations should I share.
I have Toshiba HDD 1TB v63700-c and laptop ASUS A46CB using Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
Recently I can't open my HDD in my laptop, while my laptop still can identify that there is a drive connected via usb drive. When i use my brother's PC, i can access my HDD in My Computer.

I searched for the same problem in this forum, and I get the link : External HDD can't be open but can be partially detected

I tried to do the Rogue Killer Scan and attach the report. So, what do I have to do next ?
Please help me. Thank you so much.

A:External HDD can't be opened, but the laptop still can detect it

I assume (by it's size) that it's a portable HDD (no power adapter). You say your unit "identifies" it, but not how. If it shows in Device Manger > Disk Drives, have you tried updating the driver? When you left click on it and choose Properties, does it say it's working properly? Did you use the same USB cable with your brother's machine?

Again in Device Manager, are there any Yellow Warning flags for either the HDD or any of the USB connections?

Did you install any Toshiba software with the HDD? If so, did you try uninstalling it?

If you can see it in Disk Management, have you made sure it shows as formatted for your unit?

Have you tried a different external HDD?

Hello For the last week and a half the built in display on the Windows HP Pavilion dv i laptop which I purchased a few months ago will not display anything but a black screen There is power to the screen which stays illuminated and Display Built Detect in Laptop Cannot flashes during the correct transition times between the hp screen the bios wait and the windows start screen but there is no interface or video whatsoever I can get the video to display on an external monitor using VGA once the Windows login screen pops up but that means I can t use my laptop as a laptop or see to access the BIOS It is possible this is a problem with the CMOS preventing the laptop from recognizing the screen also on one boot the date was defaulted back into January of and I have ordered a new CMOS Laptop Cannot Detect Built in Display battery to see if that is the issue However there is enough going on to convince me that might not fix the problem due to a software issue There was one prior reboot since the Laptop Cannot Detect Built in Display problem started where the screen worked but on the next boot it was broken again In the device manager the computer only sees two Generic PNP monitors one of which is the display that does not respond instead of their proper handles In the display options I get the external monitor a HANNS-G labled properly and then the option for a VGA output monitor which I can turn on but it does not change the laptop s display The other issue is that I have the HANNS-G monitor plugged in via VGA so it makes no sense that the computer would see another VGA output when that output is already being used for the only monitor it has recognized I have tried system restore to before the issue occurred defaulting to the last windows update a few days before the problem occurred That changed nothing I tried startup repair which tried to do a system restore and then crashed I reinstalled the display drivers and BIOS flash with new versions more than once That did nothing I reinstalled the drivers again and this time the ATI driver crashed and burned when it tried to install and I had to turn off the computer after it froze It says the driver is installed correctly when I go to reinstall but now in the computer properties it does not list my video card and I cannot activate the Catalyst Control Center which allows the driver to use the card This computer has a quirky switchable graphics setup where I can save power by switching between the Radeon and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator that runs off the processor Usually you can just click into the menu to switch the graphics the screen will flash off this crashes any playing video and makes your desktop background disappear indefinitely and the other graphics setup will run Right now it is stuck on intel For some reason I suspect that this wonky setup is somehow responsible for my screen issue but right now I am pretty lost Also just to clarify when I got the computer I reinstalled windows with a clean copy to get rid of the bloatware The reinstall went fine and it has worked well until now I activated the Administrator account and changed that to my name I ve been using that account since then even though it was not the original account my name I installed Windows with I have had two Trojans which were blocked by my antivirus programs I have kept up to date with drivers windows updates anti virus updates and other maintenance like defragmenting the drive I am a pretty heavy computer user and regularly use many different programs at the same time but I know how to use my computer carefully Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with my problem I also did a HijackThis log if that is helpful Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v Scan saved at PM on Platform Windows WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v Boot mode Normal Running processes C Program Files Avast AvastSvc exe C Program Files x Common Files Apple Mobile Device Support AppleMobileDeviceService exe C Program Files x Bonjour mDN... Hi

I think my computer is infected with adware/spyware. I'm not sure which one. I noticed this yesterday when visiting wikipedia; a word was hyperlinked to a survey. I'm also started noticing other website doing this and the word is underlined.

I ran Malwarebytes yesterday and nothing came back. I've just completed a full system scan with AVG and nothing has come up. Also when i refresh the page, the hyperlinked word keeps changing too. Even Bleepingcomputer hyperlinks to survey's and other sites

Will appreciate any help

Thank you

Ps: I created this topic on another forum; could staff please delete that one, sorry for mistake, here is link

Hello,
I have an old laptop that I am bringing back to life because I want a computer when I am away. This laptop runs NT and what I am trying to do is use a usb 2.0 pcmcia card I bought (nexxtech). But the card is not detected and I do not know how to add new hardware. How can I add a pcmcia card for NT? I have the drivers on the laptop now.

A:Old laptop detect a pcmcia card

NT does not support USB so thats going to be the biggest obstacle. There are companies that do provide software workarounds but I think NT is a lost cause.

A:Laptop does not detect AC adapter input

Either the plug, the socket on the computer, or both has been damaged. Probably from the computer being dropped or someone stepping on the plug.

Have a similar problem with the Toshiba laptop I am using right now. Was able to replace the plug that goes into the computer (it was cracked inside).
Still have problems with the computer not running/charging with the AC adapter sometimes bcause the socket on the computer was also damaged and needs to be replaced. Don't have the equipment to do it myself, and it costs too much to have a shop do it.

I have a HP pavillion dv-6.

I tried installing Windows XP as a secondary OS, but i got a BSOD every time i tried. To be more specific, I get a BSOD once all the setup files are loaded and it says Setup is starting Windows.

Ever since then, my laptop no longer boots windows 7 up. It goes to the booting screen and the cursor keeps blinking, but thats it.

I think the reason behind this is because xp uses boot.ini, but 7 doesnt, and if the setup files were copied onto the hard-drive, and so was a boot.ini file, it doesnt detect xp or 7.

What should i do? And i was also wondering whether I can use a Hiren's disk to added win7 to the boot manager, something like EasyBCD. If not, does anyone know whether I can detect a 2tb ext. with hirens? I just want to back my data up.

A:Laptop (vista) : Cannot detect my wireless network.

"my laptop can detect like 10 other ...networks but not my own"

This would suggest more a problem with the wireless radio on the router and not your computer.
Have you checked the router to see if SSID broadcast is turned on?

A:My laptop cannot detect Wireless networks nor interface!

Welcome to SF,

Your O/S profile says Vista, what is the O/S of the computer in question?
Please try a System Restore, restore it to a point where you were able to connect.

Here's a Vista guide.
Here's Windows 7 guide.

If the System Restore didn't help at all, please download the Wi-Fi driver from your computer's manufacturer's site.

An update will be appreciated.

I did a Search and found that drive may need a USB 3.0 port and depending upon the age of your Notebook you may have only USB 2.0 ports.
Transcend hard disk drive at DuckDuckGo
Supposedly the USB 3.0 drives can be backward compatible to USB 2.0 but that's really no guarantee. Most times the USB 2.0 ports have a black 'tongue' while the USB 3.0 ports are blue.

Hi guys, got a bit of a problem with a Toshiba laptop. All of a sudden it can no longer detect any Wireless networks in range. I know my router is working, as I have a second laptop that is not having issues, and all my wired PCs are fine.

I've tried repairing the connection, and everything appears to be working correctly in Device Manager, but I just can't detect a single wireless network, when I should be able to see 5+ in my house.

Any advice you guys have would be great.

A:Laptop can no longer detect Wireless networks

Are you SURE the wireless is enabled? My Toshiba laptop has a small switch on the side that will disable/enable the wireless. Some may have a function key sequence that does the same thing.

Here is my setup. Desktop No1 running Windows XP Pro and hard wired by ethernet to a Linksys WAG54G2 router. Desktop No2 running Windows XP Pro hard wired by ethernet to the router. Both PC's accessing web via router OK.
Desktop No1 connects to Canon MP640 by wireless via the Linksys router. Desktop No2 likewise accesses Canon MP640 printer by ethernet cable to the Linksys router and then by the wireless to the printer. No problems with this setup.
My missus laptop is running Windows 7 and accesses the internet by wireless link through the router. No problems with this.
Now I am trying to add the Canon MP640 to the laptop so that she can print wirelessly via the router to the printer. When I search with the laptop for the printer, none is found. Can anyone advise what is wrong and how to fix.

All help appreciated.

A:Laptop doesn't detect wireless printer

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Had a similar problem about half a year ago. I had to add the printer on the XP desktop as a LOCAL printer on a new Windows 7 notebook to get it to work. Here is a link to a different web site with instructions.

Hi: According to the parts list for your notebook, it comes with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 wireless network adapter. http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=E0M45UA That wireless card is a single band card that only works on the 2.4 GHz wireless band. Specs on the card from Intel... http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/centrino-wireless-n-2230-...

I have a Toshiba satellite a The display stopped working about a week ago and detect Laptop doesn't display. internal had not shown any previous signs of failing before then Laptop doesn't detect internal display. I simply shut it down and the Laptop doesn't detect internal display. next time it turned it on the screen had no display It can t detect it s LCD screen in any display options and all brightness options have disappeared as if it doesn t exist at all There s no display on the screen but other than that it still runs normally For now the laptop is only detecting the external monitor I have connected which it designates as the primary display rather than a secondary one However I m positive that it s not a hardware failure for a weird reason I won t go into any advice on how to fix this assuming that the problem is that the laptop isn t detecting the internal display and not that it s a loose cable or a faulty screen Thanks nbsp

My laptop does not boot, it cannot detect the hard drive

A:My laptop does not boot, it cannot detect the hard drive

OK have you tried a hard drive diagnostic in the BIOS (F10)? If the hard drive is not visible there I think we need to begin talking about a replacement. Providing us the model of the laptop is a good way to help us help you.

brand new lappy.
its the Acer travelmate 5740G
fantastic specs - everything is nice and responsive, except that i can't connect my wireless at uni. the tech guy had a look at it and he can't figure it out either.
we did everything, including shutting down (eventually deleting) the AV because of its firewall. we set up the network exactly as everyone else does (and it works for everyone else).

the computer keeps suggesting that we check the router (but the router works). i can get net through RJ45 no worries but... i want my wireless to work.
any ideas? will answer more questions as needed.
bear with me. have not slept.

Could be many things. wee need more information to diax. it could be as simple as the modem is shut off. Yes there is a key combo to turn it on. Or it could be a driver (check in device manager). It could be a confiuration error.

Let us know the set up

Is there a setting in the BIOS that controls the use of the HDMI output - perhaps it has been inadvertently turned off.

Hi Please help. For the past few days my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-CR353) suddenly unable to detect/find my home wireless network but my other devices (ipad2/ipod) can detect my own wireless network. My laptop can however still can detect my neighbours' wireless network.

A:My Laptop cannot detect my home wireless but my other devices can

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

What channel is your home network using? What encryption?
