All music plays with a stutter

Q: All music plays with a stutter

I hope that this is in the right section It may not even be a computer problem since the problem is solved when the computer is relocated however I could sure use a suggestion on who might have an answer When I play any music whether stored on the HD play a commercial music CD or a home burned plays music stutter with a All CD at some point about seconds into the music it takes a second long stutter followed All music plays with a stutter by a very short slow-down much like dragging your finger on a vinyl record as it plays then the music plays normally for maybe minute or so The periods between the stuttering is random Now I All music plays with a stutter have computers in my office network This is happening on every PC in the offices To test the possibilities I burned a fresh CD and played it on every PC The stuttering took place as usual randomly each time it was played I took it out to my car and played it There was no stuttering I packed up my PC and took it home to my home office I set it up and played music again There was no stuttering Music from the HD commercial CD and my home-burns all played fine The only variable here is the electricity Each PC is plugged into a UPS unit so I suspect the lines are clean coming in I know electricity can be dirty but I ve talked to two expert electricians and they have both looked at me like I was nuts They think that this is not an electrical problem So here I am in that impossible spot with a problem that just defies all logic There must be an answer Can anyone suggest who might be capable of answering such a problem nbsp

Preferred Solution: All music plays with a stutter

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I know this sounds odd but you dont have roadworks or any building work near you by any chance? I had a wierd problem like this when there was a lot of groundwork being done outside my house. As soon as the builders packed up and left it was fine.

Hey! My comp can play music but when I play DVDs or run .avis I only get background music and the vocal audio is so low it's almost muted. I can't figure it out. I have DivX installed and AC3Filter as well but I use WMP and Cyberlink PowerDVD, no vocals from either. Do I need codecs? How do I find out which I need?

A:Music Plays / No Vocals in Movies / Background Music Plays

I've been able to boost sound with the AC3Filter and get DVD vocals now through WMP but I still am not getting any vocals from my DVDs when played through my Cyberlink PowerDVD. Any suggestions? I'm sure I'm missing a codec or something but I can't figure out what. The website I used to go to to download audio codecs for WMP11 looks down for the count so I'm at a loss.

I apologize if this has already been addressed. I honestly don't know what I'm doing. My Vista's not playing any of the music files on my computer or my iPod on any music player I use (iTunes, WinAmp, the Rhapsody that came with it), though it plays anything else that's online. Other sounds on the computer are also playing (MSN, AIM, system sounds). What it does exactly is, upon clicking any song in the media library, it shows intention to play it but then stays at 0:00, while recognizing the length of song, name of artist, etc. Did I miss something?

Hello,

I have a new system with a Chaintech 7NIL motherboard, a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (External via USB), and a wireless mouse and keyboard combo.

When I'm playing music and I use the scroll on the mouse, the music stutters. Any idea why or how to correct this? it is irritating.

James

I upgraded from Win to Win both running the MS Media Center and it's created a problem with music playback It used to work fine but now I get random stutters Sometimes it goes or minutes without any problem - stutter Win problem Another sound 8 music but often it's more frequent than that - and it's very very annoying The system runs an AMD A APU Gigabyte A M UD H motherboard GB Another Win 8 sound problem - music stutter of RAM and Win Pro with MC I use the audio on the motherboard Realtek HD audio and output is via SPDIF to a dedicated DAC brand is Rega and then to a Denon amp I've had no problems with audio from DVD Blu-Ray TV via TV tuner card or when streaming TV programs via the internet Has anyone else had this problem Anyone got a solution Music is my prime use for the media center so it's driving me mad By the way I've tried upgrading all the drivers I can eg downloaded latest drivers from Gigabyte website AMD website Realtek website Linksys website for WUSB N wireless network adapter There is a newer driver for my TV tuner card KWorld PCIE dual tuner PE available via MS update but last time I tried updating drivers for that card via MS update I lost all my TV channels and had to roll-back and re-scan them to recover I have an older MC system running an Athlon which I also upgraded from Win to Win and it seems to have no problem It uses analogue audio out to an external amp I've read a few posts suggesting Win has DPC latency problems and that can cause audio stutter I downloaded some software which measures the latency and it was showing a consistent value in the quot yellow quot range - which seemed to mean it was slightly higher than ideal but shouldn't have been a problem Unfortunately I can't recall the name of the software now or where I found it Any help greatly appreciated

A:Another Win 8 sound problem - music stutter

As you have a Gigabyte motherboard, do you have the Gigabyte "Easy Tune" installed? That can cause major latency spikes. I mistakenly installed it on my new system, with a Gigabyte motherboard, that I use for my recording studio. After uninstalling Easy Tune, my latency was very low and no spikes.

The program to check is the DPC Latency Checker DPC Latency Checker

I had an issue with my previous PC with some spikes that were caused by Google Chrome's updater.

Hello,

Whenever I am playing a video, game, or music it will stutter/freeze for a fraction of a second. This occurs about once every 2 minutes. It also creates a harsh noise when it does this. Afterwards, everything continues as normal. What could cause this/fix this issue?

I am currently using windows 8.1 using an Inspiron 7720, Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU, 8gb ram, with a Samsung Evo 840 SSD.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

A:Stutter/freeze during video/music/games help.

Most likely some malfunctioning/obsolete driver. Check your power options too, something might want to go to sleep at the time and has to be "waken up".

Ever since about Sept. 2008, an approx. :30 piece of music plays whenever Firefox starts. I've looked through all my startup folders - to no avail.

I believe it might have been included in a website at one time, but nothing I currently open contains it and clearing my cache doesn't seem to help.

Anyone have any ideas on how to eliminate it - it truly bugs me - if I attempt to play my own music when starting Firefox, the two overlap.

Please help!

Thanks

I just installed a new sound card (Sound Blaster 16 PCI) on my system (see my previous thread for more details--No Sound), and can play and listen to sound files, but cannot hear sound when playing a music CD. The volume is up in both the volume control and the creative mixer control. What should I do next?

I fear my Dell PC has been infected with a rootkit. I saw a thread where Chemist work with an individual to clean up a PC that sounds exactly with the symptoms that I've been experiencing.

I don't have a Windows install disc or boot CD but I can obtain one if needed. I have MVLS access to Microsoft ISO files.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Robert

Hey guys,

I have a small issue with my volume. When I control the volume using the sound icon in the system tray (aka via my keyboard's volume control buttons), it works fine except when I bring the volume all the way down. Sound still plays at zero volume, and it only stops playing when I actually mute it. Is this normal?

I would like it to NOT play sound when the volume is all the way down, is there some simple solution to this problem?

I'm currently running win7 professional

Thanks!
Jon

A:Music plays even at minimum volume

your post is not quite clear if you adjust the volume with "only" the task bar control does it function normally or is the problem only with the keyboard control what type of keyboard are we dealing with also what sound controller

I recently installed win 2000 (now I have a dual boot machine since I have win 98 on it as well).

While installing sound drivers for CMI 8338 (The drivers that I had was old, and it didnt' have win 2000 drivers on it, so I install win NT4 drivers), I was told that the default I/O address and Interrupts for the driver was being used to windows automatically used new ones.

Afterwards, when I played music with winAmp, it looks like the music is playing, but I get no sound out my speaker.

I have checked volume control to see if anything was on mute.
What can I do to get sound?

Thinking about it now, the problem might be that win 98 is using the right I/O address and Interrupts. So when I get home, I'm go into win 98 and uninstall the sound driver to check.

Thanks in advance.

A:[Resolved] Music plays but no sound comes out.

Hi there!

The first thing is...

Are your speakers Analog or Digital?

This makes a difference as to some of the settings.

go into your advanced volume control options and check to see if the output settings maych what your speakers are. Some sound cards will set things a certain way and everything works, but you get no sound because it's the wrong output.

If you have digital speaners, get headphones, connect to where your speakers plug in to the back of the PC, see if you can hear anything. if you can hear music from the headphones but not the speakers, you know you're set to Analog output and not digital.

Also, if the above don't work, what speakers are you using? brand and Model!

Similar to radiohazard's problem my speakers can play sound but cannot play music (Shoutcast radio/pandora/YouTube videos ect.) My speakers are connected to a sound card called SB X-Fi Go! Pro and it got the job done up until this point. I tested what is going on, in fact it was playing country music on windows media player a minute ago now it doesn't want to play any internet radios. My desktop is a Compaq with windows xp.

Also I am new to this site and hope to have my tech problems resolved here.

A:Sound plays but won't play music.

In the lower right corner, on the task bar by the clock, there should be a little icon that looks like a speaker. Single-clicking on it will reveal a master volume fader. Double-clicking on it should bring up an advanced mixer with several faders for different audio types/sources, such as Line-In, Wave, and others. I haven't used XP for a while but if memory serves, there is a menu in the top left corner of the mixer where you can click File>Properties. Inside properties you'll be given a list of all possible output sources, some of which may not be checked. Add a check mark to all items that are empty, click OK. The mixer should expand to show more sources. Make sure nothing is muted and that the volume levels are somewhere around 80%. If the audio you're trying to play back still doesn't work the next thing I would check is to see if you have the correct drivers installed for the sound card. Go to Creative Labs website, look up a support page for your card and find drivers that are compatible with Windows XP.

One other thing to check, and I'm not sure if this even exists in Windows XP, but in Windows 7 inside the Control Panel there is a Sound icon you can click on. This will show you a list of available sound output devices. It is possible that your computer has on-board (sound built into the motherboard) in addition to the X-Fi and when you're playing audio back it is sending it out the wrong sound card. So what you need to do is either disable the other sound card so it can't be used, set the X-Fi as the primary or something like that. One other way to check and see if this is the case is to go to Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager. Within Device Manager, expand the "Sound, Video and game controllers" section to see if there are multiple devices listed. If you see a "High Definition Audio Device" listed in addition to the X-Fi card, or something like that, right click on the high definition audio device and then click Disable. Then reboot.

A:computer plays random music/ads

Hello! Welcome to forums!

There are some things you should know:

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

We can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. Let me know what you decide to do.

I loaded several files to my Rio Forge mp3 player that came from the same cd. All are displayed on the playlist as loaded, but two will not play although the other selections do play. Even though the display shows the 2 selections as cued up for playing, the progress meter and time counter remain static with no sound from the ear phones after I press the play button. I used Rio Music Manager to load them. I then deleted the two and tried dragging and dropping in Windows Explorer (from My Music to Rio Forge) but the same problem occurred. These 2 files do play on my computer with MusicMatch, WMP and RealPlayer.

Greetings everyone,

Got a problem I cannot solve, Whilst I am online music blurts out from the speakers.  They are ads that are running.  Problem is I just cannot solve it.

I have tried running:

Avast
Malwarebytes

I think it may be something that has infested Firefox or IE (although I do not use IE).

Any ideas please?

Many thanks

There is also a random advert pop up called: ad by campsky, which I also cant get rid of. I would much appreciate it if you could advise me with some solutions as I have tried everything in my power to get them removed and so far it was unsuccesful ;-(
Just in case I posted this on the wrong page I am posting it also to my original request.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

I have already posted a new thread to attach the Active Scan log for the same matter. I wanted to add these details to it as well, however I couldn't find my previous thread so I appologies if you have to deal with this again.
I have also followed all steps of Highjack This from 1-5.
Here is the result for Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) main.txt:

Many thanks ;-))

A:Music plays randomly and IE restarts

Hi and welcome to TSF.

My name is Iain and I will be helping you clean your system.

You may wish to Subscribe to this thread (Thread Tools > Subscribe to this thread) so that you are notified when you receive a reply.

Please read these instructions carefully and then print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the fix. You should not have any open browsers or live internet connections when you are following the procedures below.

Note that the fix may take several posts. Please continue to respond to my instructions until I confirm that your logs are clean. Remember that although your symptoms may vanish, this does NOT mean that your system is clean.

If there is anything you don't understand, please ask BEFORE proceeding with the fixes.

Please ensure that you follow the instructions in the order I have them listed.

Please do not install or uninstall any programmes, or run any other scanners or software, unless I specifically ask you to do so. Also please copy and paste logs into the thread, rather than add them as attachments.
You have only pasted in one part of the DDS log - please run it again and post the first log that appears - called DDS.txt.
I'd also like to see a Gmer log.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop. It will be a randomly named executable. Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan.
Double click the exe file.
The program will begin to run, and perform an initial scan. If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.
In any case, after the initial scan is complete, click on the Save button, and save the log file somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it in your reply.

Hello and welcome please run these next. If you have Spybot installed temporarily disable it.Next run ATF:Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.Click the Empty Selected button. If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt. If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.45) and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. Hello,I've split you to your own post here.. HJT logs are to be posted elsewhere. I would like to try something and see if we can get this here.Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop. * Double-click SecurityCheck.exe * Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box. * A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that documentPlease download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe (2.6.11.0) from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.

About 1 hour ago, when I launched Firefox, a continuous loop of "music" began to play. This did not happen in IE8 or Chrome. It does not happen with some other programs. Will system restore work to get rid of whatever problem I am having? - OS is Vista Business. I have Norton Antivirus running. A quick scan did not detect any problems.

A:Firefox plays "game-like" music

Ouch! Google has scammed me! The sounds come from Google's home page. They have a pacman game as their tittle. Cute but very annoying.

My HP Notebook will not show or recognize data nor music cd's. I have unistalled, reinstalled the cdrom drivers, flashed the bios, reset the bios, updated drivers, etc. etc.

I have spoke with HP (under warranty) completed all of their t-shooting. No Help!

I do not think this is hardware??? Because the dvd plays, and XP notices when you load a cd, but won't explore it. I have reset the options for which programs open the loaded cd???

If someone could PLEEEEZ lead me to a potential answer, I can not reformat from cd (no data read) so my only option seems to be to send my notebook to HP for service.........I do not want to do this.

Please let me know any thoughts or t-shooting advice. I have uninstalled the roxio software also, read that it was not that hot!!

HELP PLEASE, and thanks

Windows 8.1 64-bit
Realtek High Definition Audio
Motherboard: B85-G41 PC Mate(MS-7850)
Speakers: Logitech X-530

The set includes 4 speakers ( two front and two back), Center, and Subwoofer.

I'm not using the two back speakers.

In the RealTek Audio manager's sound test, I hear sound from the front left, front right, center, and subwoofer.

Under enhancements I have speaker fill checked.

When I play any music from YouTube, iTunes, Spotify, I'm only hearing the sound from the front left, front right and subwoofer. For some reason it will not use the center. Should I hear sound from the center?

A:Sound Test Plays All Speakers Music Won't

Another quick thing about this. When I play something from YouTube and it has an advertisement, the sound in the advertisement plays from the center speaker! Isn't that a kick in the pants! Any windows sounds, like new e-mail notification, plays from center speaker. Seems isolated to only music.

I don't know if this is a Windows 7 thing or an Acer (my computer's manufacturer) thing, but whenever I leave it alone long enough, the computer starts playing music. Not my music, but some generic, up-beat, no-lyric song. I've Goggled the problem and I can't find anything related to my problem. Hopefully someone here can help me out.

I have an Acer AM3400-U2052 running Windows 7.

I have my xbox networked to my PC so I can listen to my music while I play games For some reason just in the last few months or so some music plays at like a quarter its normal speed over the network I have tried to move the music off my external hard drive and copy it back on and while doing so removed it from WMP and loaded it back in so it was available over the network Didn't do anything I don't know what could be causing this issue and I haven't been able to find any information about it online anywhere Any ideas Sometimes it's a track off an album Sometimes it's an entire album The mp 's that are causing the issue come from different sources too Some from the internet some I purchased from Amazon some I ripped using iTunes some I ripped using another software program There's no consistency at all so I don't think it's the files themselves Just something weird with the network It always happens with the same files too

Just wondering if there is a way to change the music a Windows PC plays on startup from the Winblows trumpeter to something like the theme from "Close encounters of the third kind", "Bridge over the River Kwai", "Indiana Jones", etc.

Please post even if you only know how to do this for versions of Windows other than XP

A:Changing The Music Your Computer Plays On Startup

Goto Control Panel / Sounds & Audio Devices / Sounds and scroll down until you find the entry for 'Start Windows' highlight it and browse for another sound from your library.

I may be wrong on this, but I think you can only use *.wav type files.

I created many CD's with downloaded songs from itunes and napster. I created them in .wav format. Only one of the cd's I created will play in the older style cd player but they all play in my car. The cd player indicates there is "no disk" in the player. My CD's are Cd-RW's and the one that plays is the same CD-RW as all of the ones that do not play. I cannot figure this out and spent hours on this project.

I have not used CD's specifically for audio. Will this solve the problem - doesn't make sense that it would since one of the 15 cds was recognized??

I have a weird problem similar to that posted some years ago - Random music playing virus STDRT EXE crosspost I have a computer with Win Ultimate connected by HDMI to a flatsceen HDTV not connected to any external speakers Other connections are an ethernet cable and power cable The same EVEN PLAYS RANDOM MUSIC DISCONNECTED PC ON AFTER POWER random music bars of some march once or repeated up to times at random intervals from a few minutes to hours often days RANDOM MUSIC PLAYS ON PC EVEN AFTER POWER DISCONNECTED I ran a host of anti malware Avast subscribed Mawarebytes Adwcleaner TDSKiller Roguekiller Microsoft Malicious Sofware removal PrevX Spyhunter RANDOM MUSIC PLAYS ON PC EVEN AFTER POWER DISCONNECTED SuperAntiSpyware and about more A number of PUP's were found and cleaned I get an attack once RANDOM MUSIC PLAYS ON PC EVEN AFTER POWER DISCONNECTED every few years and have always suceed in eliminating it using these I have the same hardware connected for past years Problem only started some weeks back When I disconnect HDMI music continues When I disconnect ethernet music continues I went into manage audio and disabled all sources music still there I clicked speaker icon no unusual sources When I disconnect the power cable music continues I dont know how long it continues because I can only leave it disconnected overnight as I need to use it the next morning I am a hard of hearing but it freaks out my wife jn our bedroom at night as she has super sharp hearing How is this possible Can a virus start on residual electricity left in the PSU Or have I missed something I am on weeks holidays and intend to re format and reinstall when I return I am curious to find out whether a program can start on PSU electricity I dont have the confidence to use the tools HJT and Combofix etc that you use but if my reformat fails I will come back to you Thank you in anticipation

A:RANDOM MUSIC PLAYS ON PC EVEN AFTER POWER DISCONNECTED

When I disconnect the power cable, music continues
How is this possible?  Can a virus start on residual electricity left in the PSU?

No virus or anything else can operate on a system without power, assuming we are talking about a desktop system (i.e. not a laptop, etc with battery) not operating from a UPS.
Where is the sound actually coming from? Your speaker arrangement is not clear to me, are the only sound producing devices in the system the TV speakers? Does the sound emanate from them? If the computer does actually have any speakers attached, it's possible for them to pick up some broadcast signal independent of the computer. If the TV speakers are used for the computer sound, and the effect occurs with no HDMI cable connected, then the cause is in the TV not the computer. Again, it is possible for electronics to pick up some nearby broadcast signal or similar, even from something like a close neighbor's faulty equipment.

I was working on removing a rootkit the other day when all of the sudden the laptop started blurting out "Anything you can do , I can do better, anything ... la la la etc etc"
There was no media player working in the applications & all I could put it down to was a cheeky rootkit.

Anyone else had this happen?

Suddenly there are random sounds and according to the audio mixer they are coming from "Windows Host Processor" which is svchost.exe There are also sometimes over 30 instances of this process running at once all with the same program ID. They also constantly access the internet. I don't know if this is normal or not.

I've tried running some free malware scans but none of them pick up anything abnormal in this file. Some help on repairing this heinous defect in my operating system would be much appreciated! i will be eternally in your debt

A:svchost.exe plays random music/advertisements...

Have you tried booting in Safe Mode to see if the issue persist? To boot in safe mode reboot or turn on your pc, as soon as you see your pc logo screen Acer, HP, Dell etc... start tapping F8. Select "Safe Mode with Networking"

You may have adware on your pc.

If that don't work reboot perform the same actions as before yet this time select just "Safe Mode" in Windows go to start type in CMD locate cmd.exe right click on it then select "Run As Administrator" in the command prompt type in then hit enter

Code:
SFC/ SCANNOW

My computer has quit downloading anything past 40%, it started about a week ago. It rejects it as being a virus and deletes it. I've tried in Safemode and it does the same thing.  It also plays music randomly, sometimes it stops and sometimes it'll go on until I restart the computer. I noticed something was really wrong when I went to look at my Windows Defender and Firewall. Defender acts like its not even a program on the computer and the firewall gives me error messages.
I have Vipre and Spybot, both of which are constantly finding and deleting things but it has yet to help.

So, here's my issue. I have Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 speakers. I originally had them connected to my computer via a single line. So, I took the inputs from the speakers' console and directly connected everything to my computer. Now, I have surround sound (Wahoo!). But, the subwoofer only works when I'm configuring through the Control Panel. But, when I play music, I get zero sound from it.

Also, I have to set the properties in Sound to 7.1 to get all 5 speakers working. And the sub still works when running the test in 7.1 too. I've gone through every program that I can find on my computer that relates to sound and have set everything to 5.1 for now. I don't understand why I don't have sound from my subwoofer.

A:Subwoofer plays when configuring sound, but not when playing music.

Hi ruste84,

Since the speakers are producing 'surround sound' while configuration, it appears that the 'audio track' that you are trying to listen to is a standard '2 channel audio file'. You may try a digitally encoded 'surround sound audio' (a retail DVD with known 5.1 audio) to check if the 'speakers' work as desired.

If the issue persists, please confirm that the physical connections of the 'speakers' are setup properly. For reference, you may want to have a look at the recommended 'setup' for the motherboard installed 'ASUS Crosshair IV Formula'.
Also use the 'X-Fi CMSS-3D Panel' to configure 3D virtual surround effects. (Reference image below)
Hope this helps. Do reply with the findings.

OK why won't streaming music-through different radio apps-(anything other than my own songs from my PC) on my phone play off my bluetooth speakers? I have a speakerphone and anything plays through it although it does not sound great.

I have an Inspiron 15R 5521 and just recently my laptop decided it doesn't want to recognize my headphones. I updated my Laptop to Windows 10 to see if that would do anything, it didn't. I updated the audio drive, also did nothing.
I have no clue what to do.

A:Laptop doesn't recognize when I put in headphones, only plays music through speakers.

Hello. Test the audio driver to find out if the driver is causing the problem, by switching between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native audio driver. You have to have a Realtek driver installed to use this test.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, you might not need to restart.[To get back to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 2 and 7.]If you only have the symptoms with one of the drivers, then the other is at fault. If you have the same symptoms with both audio drivers, then it is very probably not a driver issue.  It could be in the hardware -- either the laptop or the headphones.
This was a known issue with the Inspiron 15R 5521 model when the Realtek 6.0.1.6788 driver was installed. That driver was for Windows 7 & 8. The solution was to install the previous version, 6.0.1.6690. If you think your headphone issue is caused by the driver, you could try installing the 6.0.1.6690 version, using Win7 compatibility mode.

I'd delete my old topic if I could, but apparently I got a few things wrong. >_> Mod Edit: A Staff member deleted it for you ~ Hamluis.Anyways, I just got a new hard drive and motherboard for my computer today. I found that the green port doesn't work for whatever reason (and I'm not bothered by it unless it could fix this problem) so I managed to get the blue port to work by changing the settings to quadraphonic. Now that I've done that, my music player works, as does the test sound on SoundMax. However, everything else (Youtube, other internet stuff, any of my computer games) doesn't work. Looked around for a bit, nothing I found seemed to point to why.

Hello and welcome. Many times it is a TDSS rootkit.Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.Click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to these[/color] instructions. In some cases it may be necessary to redownload TDSSKiller and randomly rename it before downloading and saving to the computer.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When removal is c... The only program I've downloaded recently is Mozilla firefox, the very next day my computer greets me with audio, sounds like pop with a lot of adds, open audio mixer notice an audio channel with name not available. I open processes, notice a svchost process running like crazy, close it and audio stops. within 2 minutes, the process is restarted and the audio is back with another channel as before. I ran malwarebytes and it found nothing, I'm not sure where to go to directly disable and prosecute this unwelcome intrusion. Read in another forum the report a fellow posted from his malware killer and checked for similar such files, but have not found them yet.

A:Music plays via net in audio under unkown channel, connected with a svchost process

Update on the issue. I ran Malwarebytes to no avail, read up and a few people were praising TLSSKiller as the second coming concerning this exact issue. According to log it seems to have been a root kit, two threats similar to each other, both eliminated in under 10 min with that program. I will do a few reboots and rescans to make sure the system is clean. If the issue resurfaces, I will post a continued plea here for assistance, but so far looking good on second rescan and reboot!

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.Security CheckDownload Security Check by screen317 from here.Save it to your Desktop.Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.Run Combofix:You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal. You can download Combofix from one of these links.Link 1Link 2Link 3 1. A:I stutter to play games. In game stutter solve?

Well that's a mouthfull!

I've seen BF2 stutter sometimes when the Internet connection is going slow. My system used to do that on my old video card, would stutter and then kick me out of the server. But my new video card solved that. And your video card is better then mine (X850 XT PE) I think.

Since this is a fresh reload you said, did you make sure to load all the latest drivers for the video and chipset? I assume you did.
Do the games play better if you lower all the quality settings?

The fact that the CPU is running 100% is somewhat alarming. It probably will run like that when the game is going, but the point is, if you run out of those resources while playing, that can cause the sound and video to stutter. It's not the sound or video cards fault, it's just that there isn't enough resources to compute everything (mostly CPU).

Can you give a rundown of your complete specs in a nice clean manor?

Otherwise it's hard to say, yes it can very well be a malfunctioning card or board of some kind.

I've had my pc for four years and the problem occured several months ago. When I play music or video files the files stutter. This occurs on every software such as Media Player, Itunes, Real Player. It even occurs when I play youtube videos. It is very annoying and the stuttering happens approximately 10 to 15 seconds apart. I tried the following with no success: reloaded Windows XP, defrag hard drive, ran CCleaner, ran SpyNoMore, ran RegCure. I've notice that the stutter occurs when my CPU spikes above 25%.

Winamp wont play my .FLV files but plays MP4, MP3 etc....

Tho MP4 are not fully supported stock (Full Version) it will play and gets sound. Plays .mp3 and will que .FLV files but will not play them period with or without sound.

It was working fine the last time i tried it just a few days ago. I've tried reinstalling it and changing settings to no avail.

Does anyone know of a complete uninstaller/sweeper or how to check/correct something corrupted in the .FLV area? VLC works as good as it did.

!! Thank You !!

A:Winamp Plays wont play .FLV but plays others...

Well as stated winamp was seemingly working. Played MP3 files and even MP4. Tho natively Winamp does not support mp4 without jumping thru a gazillion more hoops and add-ons. This thing comes bundled with more then the avg user even needs (IMO) or can track or understand.

Either way, (i've been thru this before too) .FLV are "Adobe Flash files" (i knew this too).

Ahem... adobe had been recently uninstalled. Of course winamp in all its glory ...

We had Norton AntiVirus 2004 and Norton Firewall 2004 previously and I had to write some firewall exceptions to allow the music to play. All was well until my subscription ran out and I installed Norton Internet Security 2005. I re-entered the exceptions and I can get to the music site ok, but when I select a song and click play, the song will only play about 5 to 8 seconds, then it will pause and show that it's buffering. Once buffering gets to 100%, it will play another 5 to 8 seconds, pause, buffer, and it will repeat for the whole song. Maddening! I've sent several e-mails to Symantec (Norton) support, but they don't seem to understand the problem... their response is "we're sorry you can't access the website...", so they have been no help. I have tried turning off NIS, but the problem persists. Could the installation of NIS2005 changed some settings in the PC? I'm at a loss. I have poked around in the control panel and WMP and have increased the buffering time from 5 econds to 30 seconds, but it didn't help. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!Click to expand...

Well flint I have never herd of that problem before but It may be the anti virus you have, but if you whant something really good go to google.com and type AVG free. Avg is the best anti virus I know of.

Hey all,

Anyone else's Vista/WMP 11 have trouble with AVI playback?

I'm getting trouble where, randomly the video pauses but the audio carries on. Then the video seems to scan forward again until the AV is synchronised again. Whole process takes a few seconds but it's annoying to say the least.

Hello

I've been having an issue with playing 3D on my HTPC. Basically if I try to play 3D I get EPIC stuttering. I use Power DVD 9 I believe as it came with my LG Super multi Blue BD-Rom. The specs of the system are as follows

AMD E-350 APU
4gb Kingston Valueram
1tb Seagate barracuda
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
LG Super Multiblue DB-Rom

That's about it. Can anyone please help me with this?

Note: 3D works fine it just stutters a lot.

A:3D Blu-Ray Stutter

As you know, BluRay requires massive data transfers to create the video stream. Everything on the machine needs to be optimal and the hardware needs to support that massive speed. Any programs running in the background, a too slow CPU, a too slow data buss, or priority settings of the player can all affect the outcome. Try setting the player to a higher priority first. Above Normal would be the best choice followed by High is Above Normal doesn't help. Never use Real Time since it can easily lock your machine.

Is the drive USB or internal?

The Sonos Music System can stream music from the internet to ever room in your house wirelessly. To do this one of its components is connected to a router using ethernet cable. However I want to stream music from my external Hard drive via my Thomson TG782T Router to the Sonos Music System.
My Question is: Do I just connect the external Hard drive to the USB port of the Thomson TG782T Router or is it more complicated.
In the absence of detailed instruction (Thomson TG782T Router Manual) i need advise on how to go about it (i.e. test steaming music from this Ext Hard Drive via the router to a PC), prior to purchasing the Sonos Music System.

Thanks is advance.

Normally, you would just drag them (copy, not move) with the mouse--from the external drive to F:Music and Videos. Can't you do that? But I may be misunderstanding you.

However:

First I would decide how many partitions you ultimately want to end up with on your internal drive.

You need the one named system

You need C

You don't need the others.

Plan 1: put all of your personal files on C and subdivide C with a folder structure: Music, Pictures, Video, Work, whatever suits you. 2 total partitions.

Plan 2: put only Windows and programs on C, and put all data on D. Subdivide D with a similar folder structure. 3 total partitions.

Plan 3: Put Windows on C. Use several different data partitions D, E, F, and so on. One for each data type (music, video, pictures, etc). 4 or more total partitions.

I would lean toward plan 2. You seem to have chosen plan 3.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each of those 3 plans. Plan 3 works, but having a bunch of partitions can be wasteful because you can never anticipate the proper size and growth rate of the data type on a partition.

Your pictures partition is already 80% full.

If you know for sure that you want to stay with those particular partitions, you should be able to use that tool to resize them.

Or you could delete all but system and C, then shrink C to maybe 80, then make new D, E, F, etc.

So you have a lot of control.

If you have everything backed up to the external, I would disconnect it temporarily. That way you can't make an error and foul that drive up accidentally with the tool.

You had best confirm what is on H:backups.

What is supposedly on E:C&E Conn and why that peculiar name?

Report back with your ideas and results of moving those files with a mouse.

I have a problem with the Windows 8 preview, my audio driver and everything works fine, or so it seems. However when playing music or a game or a movie randomely sometimes often sometimes not the audio will have a slight hiccup or stutter, it does not do this right after a restart but it gets worse the longer the pc is on. If i restart the problem goes away for a bit. This does not happen in win7 for me. Whats the issue? My mobo uses realtec audio

A:Audio Stutter??

Hi,

Realtek <<< Install HD Audio Codec driver from the right side.
Realtek HD Audio 2.67 audio driver download from Guru3D.com <<< Mirror link to same driver

Very important to update all other drivers too, from manufacturers' sites, especially wireless network and then wired.

If you have 3rd party security installed of any type, uninstall to test.

Hello,

I've seen many threads around these forums regarding this issue but I didn't come across a "fix".
My situation is the following:

Every now and then, the audio of the PC stutters, its like it skips kinda when you're listening to music from a bad CD.
I have the latest drivers from my manufacturer, and yes it says they are for windows 8 and not 7.

My motherboard is Gigabyte X58A-UD3R. The built-in audio is Realtek ALC889.

If you're gonna suggest removing the Realtek drivers and stick with the windows ones, this is not a solution for me as I need the Realtek HD Audio Manager in order to map the sound channels.

A:Audio Stutter

The RealTek drivers are the preferred drivers. If someone only has the generic basic function Windows HD Audio Codec, the first thing I recommend is to install the proper drivers from the PC or motherboard vendor's site. Do you have the RealTek drivers from Gigabyte? or from RealTek? If not from Gigabyte get them as a first step.

If you installed the Gigabyte Easy Tune (version 6 came with my gigabyte motherboard) uninstall that. It is a known system "hog" and can cause a lot of system latency problems (which could cause your problem).

Skipping, noise, etc has been a problem since Vista. Unfortunately there is no "one fix" for the problem.

One suggestion, go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek and then LEFT click "uninstall" DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. Sometimes Windows will install it on a different shared IRQ and fix or minimize the problems. The sound is always on a shared IRQ (Interrupt) with a higher priority device. The higher priority device can "interrupt" the lower priority device (in this case sound) and could also cause your problem.

While you are in the Device Manger, you should only have sound entries for your RealTek sound card and if you have HDMI audio from your video then you should also have the HDMI audio entry. Any other entries in there such as a rogue HD Audio Codec should also be uninstalled to eliminate any potential conflicts.

My Itunes gives me a tiny stutter 10 seconds in to playing any song. It is the most annoying thing. I have searched high and low for a nice quick fix to this problem.

I double checked open processes using Sysinternals Process Manager to remove everything that wasnt needed. I also tried to get a peek at what process was using cpu time at the exact moment of the stutter.

You can plainly see the HD lights crank out at that exact moment. I wonder what Itunes is up to at that moment.

Anyways, I am back to using Winamp which works perfectly.

Win Media Player is fine and I used a couple of other players with no problems.

Has anyone dealt with this or seen this?

Hi.
Can someone please advise on a very frustrating problem.
When I play any media file through any player (wmp, divx, vlc etc..) all the files jump/judder/stutter as though it's struggling to catch up on the frame rate. the sound is always ok and is always in synch.
My set up is a Packard Bell imedia 1538 pc, windows 7 ultimate, With Nvidia Gforce 6200 graphics card and all up-to-date drivers and codecs installed.
I have a VGA splitter to my samsung pc monitor and the other to my HDTV. when I unplug these the problem still occurs. I've searched for and installed all sorts of drivers and codecs but nothing seems to work!
Can anyone tell me what the solution would be? Is it my drivers, or do I need a better VGA splitter or booster, or what?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Looking for ways to solve stuttering while listening to streaming audio, discovered that when stuttering occurred, System CPU usage was above 20%. At 20 or below, no stutter, although DPC Latency Checker might show latency around 150-200.

Checked all drivers, etc, as suggested by DPC info box.

Finally, tried stopping all services related to WD. Western Digital's file management software seems to be the problem. I did stop every one of them and have had not stutter for approaching half an hour. Stuttering was occurring every minute or so, lasting a moment, or several.

This may not be the only problem, but so far so good, and I hope it helps.

A:Stutter & Drivers

Mark this up to wishful thinking. All of a sudden, the stuttering returned, even though latency doesn't usually show figures above 200.

I guess the driver problem is somewhere else--NOT WD Smartware.

Sorry. If anyone else comes up with a solution, I'd love to hear it, instead of the stinking stuttering.

EDIT: Still, as the System (NT Kernel & System) process hits 20 and goes up, usually to 25%, the stutter hits.

FURTHER OBSERVATION SHOWS THAT WD SMARTWARE restarted itself. I am changing it to manual start, and will report back.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks

A:Stutter then BSOD... HELP!!!

Hi, please follow this link to get your system specs into your next post. http://static.techguy.org/download/SysInfo.exe

I see you had a problem with Daemon tools late last year and then there is a big gap before the BSOD's started again. The first three are connected with a display driver then all the rest are code 9C which is a hardware fault.

Did you change anything before the latest BSOD's started to happen. Have you changed any major hardware components or overclocked anything.

The last 17 BSOD's are all the same. Unfortunately the particular error only suggests a hardware fault and that could be any hardware in your system.

Once I see your specs we can start a series of tests. But, if you are overclocking return it to default settings and see if that fixes the problem.

Another immediate test you can start is to remove all your RAM sticks leaving just one in place, then run the PC for a few hours and play some videos to see if it will crash. If it does remove that stick and try another one, continue this with every stick in turn. You might find that only one of the sticks causes crashes.

You could also try running the PC on the onboard graphics output (if you have one) and removing the graphics card. Then see if the problem continues.
