Network card recommendations?

Q: Network card recommendations?

So I'm in the market for a new wireless card for my desktop. The last one I bought was a piece of crap from the start. You don't generally see network card reviews. Was wondering what some good quality options would be.

Preferred Solution: Network card recommendations?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Network card recommendations?

The best option would probably be a dual-band one that has 802.11ac support; if you've got an AP that supports the standard, it'd be worthwhile investing in that kind of card. They can be kinda expensive though (usually around $100 from what I've seen).

I have an Intel HD Graphics Card but I am looking to replace it to enable me to play games demanding of higher graphic capabilities. Which one should I get? I have had the NVIDIA 720 recommended to me before but what are other options?

A:GFX Card Recommendations?

What make/model computer do you have, as well as what games titles would you be playing on this system so we can give you some suggestions? You might need a small form factor video card, or a higher wattage power supply or you might be able to simply install a card and the power supply that came with the system high enough watt rating to run say a GT type card. More info needed to give you the best answers to this.

HI all. Im upgrsding to DDR3(E6500,GA-G41MT-ES2L) and a new video card. Just wondering if anyone has some experience/ feedback on these cards that im looking at. XFX GT240,
GIGABYTE GT240/250 and ASUS 9800GT. I know they are all close to one another im just wondering if anyone has some good advise for me. Thanks

A:New card recommendations?

Presuming that the card is for gaming then you're best bet from the cards you've listed is the GTS250.
The lower priced (and performing) GT240 and (slightly better) 9800GT would most likely struggle with some games at 1680x1050. If you are gaming at 1280x1024 then not an issue with any of the cards. The GTS 250 would affords a better gaming experience at the higher resolution.
Are these cards your only options? If you aren't AMD-phobic I would seriously consider the HD 5750 (or if your budget can stretch, then the HD 5770). The HD 5750 offers comparable performance to the GTS 250 and offers more going forward as drivers mature for the series. If pricing in Aus is close to NZ pricing then both cards should be similarly priced.

You might want to list the dell's model number so we can find what type of graphics upgrade slot it has to help find a compatible card as well.

I have some money to spare on my gaming rig, and I thought the next thing to upgrade would be the sound card. Right now, I'm using the integrated 7.1 audio on my Asus motherboard, which isn't anything special.
I'm using a true 5.1 headset (Roccat Kave).
I was thinking of purchasing a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional. Would this make much of a difference, and or do you recommend better at a similar price?

I would like to know your opinions on choosing a new AGP graphics card for my desktop machine, with the following specs: P4 2.80ghz, 1GB RAM, 350W PSU (full specs can be found here however, I've upgraded the RAM from 512MB to 1GB)

About a year ago I tried to install a GeForce 6600 256mb card on the same machine, with little success, so I'm a little wary of nVida cards.

Ideally, I'd be looking to spend under 120 (about $200)

A:Video card recommendations

You'll waste more then 4GBof RAM with the 32 bit version of Windows XP and the 64bit version of Windows XP is poorly supported and best not used. You need Vista 64 bit to use that much RAM.

Any card would be suitable depending on which games you do play and how much you want to spend. They are all decent depending on what you expect from one.

Im thinking about changing my video card so I can run two monitors in a span mode and I would appreciate some recommendations.

I dont really know what Vid Card to look for.

My Computer Specs currently has a ATI Radeon X300SE w 128MB DDR memory.

Also - It has a 300w Power supply and Ive added a 5 port PCI - USB card and a second 300gig SATA HD.

My objectives are to achieve at least the same performance I have now .
Running twin monitors in a span mode
and putting as little extra stress on my Power supply and Pocket book as I have to.

A:What graphics card should I get? Recommendations?

You would probably want a 6800 (at least 6700) series card if AMD is what you prefer.

If nVidia is your preference then the 570 (at least 550) is where you would want to be.

If you are not aware a new generation will soon be out. That means in 2 or 3 months, you will have a whole new selection of cards to choose from.

If you do choose a card, please make sure your power supply is rated to carry the graphics power requirements.

Not for $50. $50 is low end, very low end.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good card?

Since I posted in another thread that my fan died on my old card, I'm not sure if I should buy the same brand again.

My current card is an nVidia GeForce 8400GS with 512MB RAM. It was manufactured by BFG, and they offer lifetime 10 year warranty. I'd like to get my card RMAd, but they need a proof of purchase and I don't necessarily have that.

I'd like to stick with a good card under $60 since I'm on a budget at the moment.

Would nVidia or ATI be best? And just FYI, I do a lot of gaming, video and pic editing.

A:Graphics Card Recommendations

BFG doesn't make video cards anymore. About the best you'll do for $60 is a deal. If you can wait for a rebate, then this is likely as good of a card as you'll be able to find for that price.

Hello and welcome to techspot!

Do you want the bad news or the bad news?......

About the best you are going to find is a fx5500 or a radion 9250. You'll be able to RUN the games on those cards, but you will be turning all your settings down to the lowest levels. PCI cards just don't cut it for today's games.

Probably best to save your cash wait until you can replace your motherboard with a PCI express video controller.

Good luck!

currently he has it running on high settings (near highest I think) on a crappy nVidia 6200GS - its a bit choppy at times

his budget is about 70.. maybe stretch to 80

can anyone make any recommendations?

it will be going into a new build which will be dual-core with 2Gb RAM

A:£70 for Graphics Card - recommendations please?

The Nvidia 8600 GT never gave me any troubles when I was running crysis on Medium, So I don't think it would perform too bad with FSX, The 8600 Ranges from 40 (I think) To around 100 depending on where you buy.

I am looking for a firewire 800 add-on card for my current system. I'm not looking for "budget" or "cheap," I just want something very reliable and robust for Windows 7 x64 (and Vista x64). What firewire 800 cards have you all found to work well in Windows 7 x64 and Vista x64 (both are Home Premium)?

I have a 1 PCI and 1 PCIe(x4) slot open. I don't know if these are 32-bit or 64-bit - if someone can shed light on that, also. Thanks in advance.

A:Firewire 800 Card Recommendations

Installed a Belkin 3-Port PCI Express card last night. Seems to be working fine. I've got 2 devices hooked to it at the moment and haven't had any problems. Be aware that one of the 3 ports gets closed inside the PC cabinet.

Hi all,

I realise this isn't an issue or a problem, but I was wondering if anyone had some quick recommendations for a USB sound card? I'm looking for around ?50 or lower, and was looking at this, but I don't know if this would be a huge step up.

I would appreciate any help,

Thanks.

A:USB Sound card recommendations

If I were to pick between the two, I would go for this one Its a little higher than the 50 mark but seems to have more features. The other one probably isn't much better than the in built sound.

I have done extensive searching & found very limited info on this subject.

One of my PC's has an ASUS A7V8X-X mobo & all IDE channels are at full capacity. I'm considering getting a SATA PCI card so I can add a SATA drive to this board.

I would like to hear from anyone that is using a SATA card in a PCI slot in their mobo & if you had any problems. Info from anyone that has an A7V8X-X with this setup would be great!

A:SATA PCI card recommendations

I recently purchased a SATA contoller card based off an Initio chip from Ebay for $13.00 and it had conflicts with my old SIS 735 chipset based motherboard and has zero support from the chip manufacturer. Eventually I went with a Vantec UGT-ST200 SATA PCI host card from Tiger Direct for $20.00. It's built on a Silicon Image 3512A chip and has so far worked flawlessly. If you are so inclined you can update the cards BIOS with the most recent BIOS from Silicon Image. I saw both Basic and RAID BIOSs for the chip on the SiI site leaving me to believe that you can have an extra RAID array if you want to experiment with a different BIOS. The card allows you to hot swap a drive, and it can see all the space on a drive larger than 137GB. It can also be used as the controller for your computer's primary boot drive.

I know this question comes up a lot, but I don't know much about which cards are good. Can you give me some suggestions in the $100-$200 price range?

Here's some system info:

Win XP home ed.
My MoBo has a PCI Express x16 video card slot.
Intel DQ965GF Intel Core 2 Duo Ready Socket 775 MicroATX Motherboard
Intel Pentium D 925 Dual Core 3.0GHz 800MHz 2x2MB processor
2 of: 2GB 800MHZ DDR2 RAM
Zalman CNPS9500 AT 92mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan with Heatsink

Also, do I need to upgrade my power supply at the same time? I have a 450 Watt power supply, powering 4 drives, 1 case fan, 1 CPU fan, and the MoBo of course.
160gb sata HD
Sony CD-ROM drive
Sony DVD+RW drive
Floppy drive
If I should replace the power supply, any suggestions on which make/model?

Thanks guys!

P.S.
Whatever I buy I'll probably get at newegg, I've heard good things about them.

Im new to the forums here and sorry if this would be a stupid question but...

I currently am running my system with a ASUS GeForce 7900 GT and I am looking for an upgrade. I cant go too pricey so I am just looking for something a few steps up from my old card. I mostly use the graphics card for old games like Half-Life 2, Valve games, and older RTS games like Men of War. Also I have a 530 watt PSU currently and would like to avoid upgrading that so cards that dont require more than 530 watts would be appreciated.

Thanks

A:Video Card Recommendations?

What is your budget? What you have now, still runs pretty good... But any $50 gaming card today will be faster.
For the $100 price range, an ATI 5770/6770 isn't shabby. Your 530w PSU is more than enough for typical gaming cards.

But what brand of PSU do you have? Cheap PSUs are not actually able to hit those peaks under normal uses. But again, typical GPUs will work fine with 400~450w PSU.

Hello guys, So my birthday is in 3 months. If you did not know, I am having problems with my case and graphic card. Ex: Overheating/Crashing from it. So yea, I am intrested in getting a new graphic card and case. So if you do not mind, Please post a link to a grpahic card with a case, Or just 1. But here is what I am planning on doing with the comp for you info.

Hardcore Gaming- Things that can run BFBC,Crysis,Cod, High-End Games. So I just want something that can play most of the new and future games at high or so.

Case- Try to make it have fans so I do not have airflow/overheating problems again.

Price- Try to make the price under 300.

EDIT: If you know any good cases that are used for watercooling, Or a case that is see-though so I can install neon, Please List.

A:New graphic card/case, need recommendations

Under 300 what? Dollars, Lire, Taka ?
Making some basic assumptions (you want a mid/full tower chassis for an ATX, running at an average resolution 1680x1050) here's some chassis:
Mid tower
Cooler Master HAF 922 ($99 inc shipping)
Cooler Master Storm Sniper ($133 inc shipping)
Lian Li Lancool PC-K62 ($103 inc shipping)
Antec P183 ($160 inc shipping)
SILVERSTONE RAVEN RV02-BW ($160 inc shipping)
SILVERSTONE Fortress Series FT02B-W ($245 inc shipping)
Full tower
Cooler Master HAF 932 ($130 inc shipping)
COOLER MASTER HAF X ($200 inc shipping)
COOLER MASTER ATCS 840 ($170 inc shipping)
LIAN LI PC-A70F ($180 inc shipping)

As for graphics cards, I'd leave it for the time being. In three months the graphics landscape is going to look a whole lot different to how it appears now.

A:Recommendations for graphics card/system set-up

I think we need to know your budget, and what you want to do with the card first.

If you have no budget, get a 6800ultra agp card.

Pci-e is the newest graphics slot. If you going to be building a new pc, might as well use the newest tech. There isn't much price difference between agp and pci-e.

A:New Video Card Recommendations for Battlefield 3

Personally I would wait until the game comes out and see what the benches for it say. Will mean playing with your current card till then, but at least then you will know which card to go for instead of an educated guess. That and with a little bit of luck when the game does come out it will be a little better optimized than like when BF2 came out.

Hello ya'll! I've got a Compaq Presario 5430 with a 64 mb Nvidia GeForce 2 MX graphics card that came with it. I've noticed that I'm unable to play more and more newer games because I believe my graphics card won't run 'em. (I hear sound but no pic (black screen)). I want to stay with NVidia cause I've had no problems (knock on wood) and just looking for an affordable graphics card upgrade.Any recommendations! Thanks.

A:Recommendations! Video Graphics Card

Could you post some system specs? I can't seem to find the specs for the Presario 5430 motherboard. I'm guess it's because it's too old. Just need to know if that motherboard is AGP 2x/4x or AGP 4x/8x. If your board supports 8X AGP, then you can take full advantage of some of the newest AGP cards which can run in AGP 4X or 8X. Such as these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143045
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150127
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150096
or see them all at Newegg AGP4x/8X Cards section

but if your board can only support up to 4X, then buying those cards would be a waste of money. You could look at these instead:
Newegg AGP 2x/4x GPU section

Note: Newegg only ships in the US, so if you live in Canada or elsewhere, you're out of luck. Try www.tigerdirect.ca and www.ncix.com for Canadian shipping.

Keep in mind that upgrading your video card has the potential to improve your framerate significantly, but in order to take advantage of that potential you have to make sure that your system is not being bottlenecked by other parts, such as your CPU or RAM. A process is only as fast as the slowest step in it. So if you have, 256MB (or even 512MB) of RAM, try to upgrade to 1GB if you want good gaming performance. If you have an old CPU, you might want to replace that too.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good sound card/speakers. Right now I'm using the built-in audio from my motherboard and the built-in speakers on my monitor (audio wasn't my biggest concern when building my desktop).

I'd like to upgrade to a 2.1 speaker setup, but I don't know too much about sound cards or speakers. Any suggestions would be great.

Budget: $80-90 max for sound card, $150 max for speakers
**Canadian dollars, not U.S.
**will be purchasing from Tiger Direct, Canada Computers and Newegg... although the first two are preferred

A:Recommendations for sound card/speakers

Have a look at the Logitech LS 11 speakers. They are just stereo, plug into your audio out socket, they have a mains transformer you will need to plug in, but will be a big improvement on what you have.
If you want a lot more bass sound, then 2.1 is far more effective, and I bought the Logitech X230 for my PC, but now use them on my TV !
In my opinion, the bass can be too much, but if you roll up some paper and push it into the bass port, it reduces the bass output quite a bit, and with that mod I am happy with the sound I get. These still plug into the audio 'out' socket, and no mods needed to your pc.
If you want better sound than that, then you will need a 5.1 sound card, there are many, Trust, Genius, Soundblaster, prices vary greatly and could depend on where you live as to what choice you have.

My existing setup is:

Cable Modem Connects to the internet port (assigns IP with DHCP) of the Cisco Meraki MX64W (does DHCP)
MX64W has a built in switch that connects to the HP 1810-24G Managed Switch
Switch connects to the rooms in the house.
I have another 8 port managed switch in the office where i want this all to end up

Is my only option to run a second drop?

I don't understand what the issue is. Are you saying you need to figure out how to get the Ethernet connection from the cable modem to the Meraki you want located in the office? Is the HP 24 port switch in the same location as the cable modem? Why are you running managed switches?

Hey guys, I'm new to this website (and I'm not very good with technology at all) so please bear with me.

I recently got Minecraft for my computer but the problem is that it lags too much. I have NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 (it's an integrated one).

Yes you've got all the information correct.
If you have any information about your power supply, do post it here.

I have Googled up SIM card reading and SIM data recovery software and I haven't found any freeware. Before I fork over $$ for something, I would like to have recommendations from user experiences with whatever software you might use.

To be clear, I want opinions from users on software they have experience with.

If it make any difference, my phone uses a t-mobile SIM card.

l know its better to have internal sound cards, however due to the fact l swap and change between my laptop and PC l tend to opt for an external sound card since l have less messing about with speaker connections and less messing around and moving the PC to access the connections.

basically lm looking for a sound card that will give me settings to upmix the audio as it kinda seems my current creative soundblaster live 24bit external while compatible with CMSS doesnt have windows 7 support, so lm looking for an external sound card that supports windows 7 which will allow me to upmix because l have these 5.1s and much of my video content annoyingly only plays only through the front speakers even with ffdshow audio settings set to speaker fill regardless of if l use WMP or MPC-HC.

Just a quick one guys, do you have any recommendations in terms of asset scanning and inventory systems?

We are after something fairly simple where it can go off and crawl a network then report back to us the machines it found and we can export that data in to CSV or other.

We already have a helpdesk system, but need something that can gather the info and give us it back in an exportable fashion, so we can import it in to our helpdesk system.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Hi all,

I recently bought a relatively expensive sound card on Amazon and after the second boot of my PC with the card installed and working my on board LAN card decided to not work throwing error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
The card IS enabled in the BIOS and I HAVE disabled the on-board sound card.

LAN Adapter Details:
-Make and Model: Realtek RTL8137/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
-Driver Provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
-Driver Version: 6.112.123.2014
-Driver Date: 23/01/2014

A:Realtek network card not working with external sound card installed

This sounds like an IRQ problem, which is strange because modern PCs can usually resolve these conflicts automatically. But seeing that your system is a Pentium 4, maybe the motherboard is old enough to still be dealing with the issue.

One thing you could try is to perform a Clear CMOS procedure. This will force the motherboard to re-enumerate all the devices and will often solve IRQ conflicts. Note all your current BIOS settings
Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
Remove the 3v motherboard battery.
Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time in BIOS.
If that does not work then you could try to get the 2 cards to play nice together by installing them in different locations, if you have the extra slots.

Keep in mind that when removing any card it is important to remove it from Device Manager first. Remove it from Device Manager > shut down > then physically remove the card > then restart into Windows > then you can shut down perform the next procedure.

Sometimes you can simply install the newer card in another PCI/PCIe slot and that will resolve the conflict. (You must remove the device from Device Manager in order to change the slot)

Other times you might need to remove both cards, then install the newer card first and the older card second.

Let's see if any of that helps.

Three things to try ...

If you have McAfee please see the sticky thread at the top of this (Networking) forum.

Disable encryption on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

My rig uses a Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wireless mini half-card. It reports the correct name except within the wireless network list. Instead of 6230 it reports 6320. I searched the registry to see if I could find the error, but nothing found. It's only a nuisance, and a minor one at that. Anyone else seen this? Any way I can correct it? See image below:

A:Network card name reporting incorrectly in wireless network list area

Can only suggest you may not be using the latest wireless driver, but if you are, it must be a typo in the signature file written into the card's firmware which can only be changed by the manufacturer and may be noticed by them in the next release.

If its working, I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.

This sounds really noobie of me but is it possible to improve local network transfer speed by adding a 2nd network card. I was planning to connect one exclusively for lan transfers and another one hooked to a separate wireless router.

Right now only a maximum of 3 users can stream SD videos off the PC before it gets a little choppy.

The pc in question runs on windows 7 and it's board has built in gigabit, I happen to have a spare gigabit card.

A:Will adding a 2nd network card improve local network transfer speed

That won't really help the way you are describing the problem, although adding access points will help with streaming to wireless devices.

Although there is a setting in Group Policy that allows you to use two connections at the same time, I don't believe it will help in this situation.

I've done many HD movie streaming tests on my system.

I can stream from my media PC to at least 7 other machines at the same time, 4 wired, 3 wireless, plus my TV, and have no problems at all, no skipping, no freezing, even with the same movie in the same place or with 8 different movies at once, my TV is connected to my media center PC so counts as the 8th one.

This is Gb LAN, and 300Mbps wireless but even the 65Mbps limited laptop has no problem.

I'm not really sure why you are seeing these limitations but it may be the router.

We were told we needed to upgrade to a r6300 netgear router which is capable of 1000mbps. Now were are told we need to install an ethernet PCI network card or a network adapter. I am told we have to have a 2.0 port for the network adapter to work. It would be cheaper for us to install the internal Ethernet PCI Card, my problem is I don't know which one to buy. I know we need one that is rated 1000mbps, are these universal or will we have to buy one that fits each brand of computer?

A:How to limit network traffic speeds with a network card?

If you want to solve the issue using your existing equipment, you can try dd-wrt on one WGR614v10. See this thread (DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - WGR614v10 Support - Jump to post 9) which claims that there is a dd-wrt flash for WNR1000v3 which works on WGR614v10. Then look a thread like this (DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - Steps for Permanently limit Bandwidth of a PC using DD-WRT ?) to setup the limits. You can start a new thread in those forums if you want someone to walk you thru the steps.

Or you can just buy a router/access point that has a bandwidth limiting feature for each SSID that it broadcasts.

I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled Vista to it. I installed all the necessary drivers etc. and rebooted. But it still says "You are not connected to any networks" when the light on my router says that i am connected to the home network. It keeps saying to insert a network cable.
In the devices manager, the network card driver seems to be functioning normally.

Is there a fix for this?

The network card is a Realtek RTL 8111C on-board chip.

Also, ive read somewhere else that USB & 1394 drivers having conflicting effects with lan drivers. I installed an "Intel INF Configuration patch" which contained a crapload of USB Drivers which supposedly "configured properly" the intel motherboard chipsets, but im not so sure about that.

I'm experiencing an almost identical issue. I had the same problems with the installation disc. After multiple install / unistall / restarts I was able to get the client installed. However, when I click to open the .exe nothing happens.

On top of that, the system is not recognizing the card. I tried all 4 PCI slots with no success.

I installed this same card (same model, different physical card) on a pc running xp sp3 very easily. Since that was so easy I bought another card for my windows 7 machine.

However, I was lazy and didn't do any research. Before I came upon this forumn I found a couple of google links saying this card was incompatible with vista (therefore incompatible with w7?).

Windows 7 runs fine and I can play games with the 5Gb...but... I can't seen to get on the internet! It comes up saying unidentified network! I take out the 2Gb and everything is ok again and i can get back online and everything.

I was told to make sure all my drivers are updated which I did and they are all up to date.

Hi,

I'm having a problem with a network card and its driving me mad! I've installed the card (Dynamode NC-100TX-R) and Windows detects it. The drivers they supplied on the floppy were Realtek RTL8139 Drivers which were for Win 95/Win 98 and I have XP so I went on the Realtek site and downloaded the latest drivers for the RTL8139. When I installed the drivers everything seemed fine until I plugged in the cable. All it says is "Network Cable Unplugged" even when the lights at the back of the card are flashing indicating a connection. Everything on the other end of the cable is fine and I've checked all the settings and they seem right. Can anyone help?

Hello, I have a Geforce Fx5200 graphics card and up till now, it has worked ok. But I'm trying to upgrade to a Radeon 2400pro, which i have done... But as soon as i plug in my network cable, my computer freezes :( it does not do this with the Geforce card. It's most certainly a problem with the graphics card since it's only happening with it in, but i might have to do something with the Network settings or card or w.e :P but i don't know what.. If anyone could help, i'd appreciate it. If you need more information just ask :D

A:XP - Network card problem with VGA Card

hello & welcome to TSF ,

i know this may sound like a dunb question !!

did you uninstall the drivers & software for the GForce Fx5200 ?

also

now what i need to do is go to your (device manager)

now once there you will want to select from the toolbar of the window(veiw) then a drop down menu / from it you will select (show all hidden devices)

now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they

now go to the (event veiwer) this is thru the (administrator tools) in the control panel
here you will find 3 to 4 subcatagories

you will want to check each of them for this is where windows keeps track of all errors
now you will want to make notes of the errors that have been recorded ( you do not have to make notes of double entries just of the dates of their happenings & how many there is)
you will get more information on the errors if you (right) click them / then select properties

then get back to us

i am creating a local network of just 2 PCs. 1st one is using windows 7 OS and the 2nd one is using windows 8.1 . Error i am facing is when i click on TCP/IP(v4) properties in 2nd PC(win 8.1 pc) it says that ""In order to configure TCP/IP, you
must install and enable a network adapter card.". 1st pc is working fine and showing shared drives and files in network but 2nd PC is not showing anything in network because id donot allow me to configure IP settings.
Please Note that i have also connected WiFi connection to my 2nd PC and that connection is working fine and showing all the TCP/IP Properties correctly without showing any error.
I have disabled Network adapter in Device manager and installed again but nothing happens.

Hi, my Sony Vaio laptop has a single physical network card (Realtek), as shown in Device Manager. The laptop itself also has a single network port. The port replicator (an accesory that is meant to convert the laptop into a desktop) has 2 network ports. Does this make any sense? I mean, can I use the single physical network card to connect the laptop to two different network devices?

A:2 network ports+1 network card?

What is the model number of the port replicator?

Do you have a link to an image which shows these two ports?

Or better yet, do you have a link to a manual port replicator :-)
