Netgear N300 can't see wifi

Q: Netgear N300 can't see wifi

I recently moved to a new home and I set up my pc and the wireless adapter can't even see the wifi despite picking up my neighbours which have very weak signals.
My phone and my laptop both see it and connect with full strength.

What do I do?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Try the factory reset. There's a a small reset button in the back, press it down (sometimes you have to use a pen if it's one of those pin hole things) for about 5 seconds and that takes it back to factory settings. At that point you can either run the install CD that came with the router, or set it up manually from your browser.

I am desperate. really really desperate, I don't know what to do anymore

I spent a lot of money on a new gaming pc and it has been a complete nightmare from the start. I have wireless network at home so I had to het a usb wifi adapter, the Netgear N300 WiFi USB Mini Adapter.

Its setup cannot complete because it is stuck eternally at "detecting adapter"

I sought online but it's only people reporting the problem and NOBODY giving a solution. pleas pleeeaaaase somebody help.

A:Netgear N300 WiFi USB Mini Adapter stuck detecting adapter

Power down PC...while it off remove USB wifi adapter....power on PC. When PC has finished booting up, search in the uninstall programs list for any software related Netgear and uninstall it. Reboot and start the process again.

According to the system requirements for that device, it does not support windows 10, which may be you issue.

Have you tried to find the recessed reset button on the router? It should be along the back near the power switch\port.

A:Netgear N300 dropping Connection

i would reset the router to factory default and then reconfigure - see if that helps
Next
Look for a firmware update and install the latest firmware on the router
Next
See if you can get it replaced under warranty

lets see a xirrus and look at the wireless environment
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Direct link to the program is here http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifi_download_redirect.php
Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
Full details are here http://library.techguy.org/wiki/TSG_Posting_a_Screenshot

Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better.

hey

I'm trying to connect a latop (Packard Bell - Easy Note) onto a Netgear N300 wireless router (WNR2000v3).

I have already connected a separate laptop which is working fine but the Packard Bell (about 6 years old) wont connect, it will detect my wireless network but then asks for a "Network Key".

I'm assuming this the same password that I set up when I configured the router but when I enter it I get the following message:

"The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configeration. This can be entered as 5 or 13ascii characters or 10 or 16 hexadecimal characters".

Not entirely sure what that means but my password is 9 character long.

If anyone can help that would be great, thanks

A:Adding device to Netgear N300 Router

Sounds like the network card on the Packard-Bell will only work with WEP encryption which uses 64-bit or 128-bit passwords. Some would work with 5 or 13 ascii characters words (apple, mothershelper), but most required 10 or 16 hexadecimal characters (1-0, A-F)".

If that is the case, you may be able to find driver updates that will allow the card to work with newer security protocols, buy a new card/USB adapter for the P-B, or use WEP for everything.

What is the make/model of the network card? model of the EasyNote?
Check Packard-Bell support to see if there are newer drivers for the card?

Hi everyone I have a Netgear N wireless router that I bought and have been using since together with an adtec modem on my at amp t internet sevice My modem went out and I replaced it with the now recommended replacement modem which is the Motorola As a result and in doing so my settings are having to be reset on my N router for my wireless signal settings Resetting Netgear N300 on router... to be used for my wierless devices In trying to do so and in going through the setup Resetting settings on Netgear N300 router... of the router again I ve discovered in logging into the Netgear website to recover reset the router settings for the new modem setup I m being told by Netgear that the N router I bought came with only a day tech support and that I can purchase a tech support extended plan for for yr or for yrs for them to be able to help me and synchronize and reset the router settings Quite honestly I can t see spending this much extra money on support for a router that cost me in the first place I may as well just buy another router for to get another day tech support and to provide support in setting up the new one but it s the principle of the thing and it s such a waste to trash the present router when it is in perfect working order otherwise Then again if this is how shoddy and shysterish Netgear s tech support is I don t believe I would want to support them or in anyway encourage them in their use of a policy that is so unfair and lacking in flexibility to such a small assistance request to reset this modem which would not take them but maybe minutes or less My question therefore is this Has anyone out there experienced a similar or like situation and is there a workaround or another solution to this other than going through Netgear to reset the router s settings Is there a way to recover or discover the settings and reset them manually myself I very much appreciate any help anyone can offer and I thank you all in advance for any help and any advice anyone can offer Thanks alot nbsp

A:Resetting settings on Netgear N300 router...

Hey drpepper. You can manually reset your router settings to its default settings as they were when you bought it. I would disconnect the router from the modem and just use the simple procedure to reset the router. You can then access the router setup page and change the default password, network name (SSID), and set up your encryption mode (wpa2 preferred) and create a password/network key to secure your router. Save any changes you make, and when done, power off the router. Power on your modem, wait a minute, then power up the router, wait a minute, then see if you can detect your network. All of the info for doing this is in the N300 router setup manual, with the reset procedure on page 39.

Do you have the exact model of the router - netgear appear to be calling a lot of differenrt routers N300 now - i just spotted this the other week - and a little confused why

it may need a firmware update - it could be a DNS issue - I have had lots of issues with DNS on D-link and linksys - so i just add the ISPs DNS server IPs or use google open DNS to most routers I set up now

if you can post back the results of all the following tests , we can see if its a interference or dns issue - do ALL the tests when working OK and thne repeat ALL tests when disconnected

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

Hi there,

Recently bought an N300 wireless adapter for my PC. I have a normal router which I usually connect to the internet using an ethernet. But sometimes I go wireless.

Initially it all worked wonderfully, without the ethernet my PC was able to pick up the wifi and I could browse, however, after about 5 minutes the bar graph in the bottom right hand corner gains a yellow triangle. Then limited access announces itself and soon enough no page loads at all.

The Netgear 'genie' doesn't show any problems with the connection, the problem seems to be noticed by the windows connection icon in the bottom right hand screen. If I try to reconnect I don't get given the network options I once had.

Hope the above makes sense...any ideas?

Welcome to Seven Forums,

When you installed the driver for your Netgear wireless adapter, did you download the latest driver from the Netgear's site?

Please provide an ipconfig /all for review.
Click on Start button then type cmd , see on the top right click on it and choose Run as Administrator. From the black screen, type the word ipconfig /all and press enter. Right click on the black screen or Command prompt then choose Select All and Paste the results on your next post.

So I have AT&T DSL. I bought a Netgear N300 ADSL2+ Modem/WiFi Router that is compatible with my service.

Previously with this Modem/Router it would constantly drop the wireless connection for the Wii I have that was used to stream Netflix.

So recently I bought a Linksys E2500 Router so I could be able to use the Wii, along with 3 other desktops, 1 laptop, and 3 phones.

My ideal setup would be this:
Set the ADSL2+ Modem/Router to be just a modem (I know how to set the option for this)Connect the Linksys Router to be what all the devices connect to wirelessly (this would serve as the DHCP server)
I have read that one of the Routers has to be set to "BRIDGED" mode, yet I don't know which device has to be Bridged

this is being set into bridge mode - by changing to a modem

then connect the modem to the WAN on the router and you should be good to go

Do you have a wireless laptop that you can you can put next to the wii - would be useful to see the quality of the wireless signal and how many other wireless are there which may cause interference

put xirrus onto the laptop and put the laptop next to the wii and post a xirrus screen shot

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

if you get an error - You need will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

A user guide is available here http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-inspectorguide-1-2-1-RevB-6.aspx

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)

To post a screen shot of the active window.
1) hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
OR
2) if you are using Vista/Windows 7 you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

If you are using the Mac OS then use http://www.istumbler.net/

if you want to optimise base station position and signal strength / dead spots use
http://www.chimoosoft.com/products/apgrapher/ which has a graph function to monitor signal

How do you connect two routers together to increase signal through the whole house? I am trying to use the n300 as my main router (its hooked to cable modem) and use the 2wire as an access point. The two are connected by a known good ethernet cable.

Thanks,

Josh

A:Connecting netgear n300 router to 2wire 2701 router

JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. [You will not need a cross-over cable if one of the "routers" is a computer.] Leave the WAN port unconnected!

This procedure bypasses the routing function (NAT layer) and configures the router as a switch (or wireless access point for wireless routers).

For reference, here's a link to a Typical example config using a Netgear router

Hi All,

I recently put in a Netgear firewall, configured it, its running no problem. Then I setup a new Netgear N600 wireless router, configured it, gave it a static IP, connected to it, works like a charm. Thing is, when I try to access the web gui I receive nothing.. Is the Netgear firewall taking priority or something? I went directly connected to the netgear wifi router and double checked to make sure that there was no settings restricting administration from wifi users, etc.. Anyone have a similar setup ?

Thanks All

A:Netgear FVS318G FW & Netgear N600 wifi router Can't access webgui

You sure been busy! Have "seen" you all over this place.

Is the FVS318G router connected to the N600 router's WAN port or a LAN port?

If WAN have you changed one of the routers so that they don't both use the same LAN subnet (I didn't check each one, but they probably both default to the same).

If LAN have you disabled the N600's Dhcp server?

Working on installing a netgear universal WiFi range extender model # WN1000RP. We had it working before but now have a new wifi router. I was able to fine the user manual on-line. I did a factory reset and then used the WPS button to connect the extender to the router. The lights in the extender indicated that the connection had been successful, but the network options showed Netgear_EXT rather then CentryLink_EXT like it was supposed to. The manual offers a second option of selecting the Netgear_EXT network and then going to mywifiext.net for a set-up wizard. The set-up wizard starts then I am prompted with a popup box stating "authentication Required" with spaces for a User name and password. I tried a couple of things but nothing worked. I know my wifi password.

Thanks for any suggestions

Recently I purchased a new gaming computer, set it up, and connected it to my home WiFi. Today, I began downloading some new games. In the middle of downloading one of them, my internet simply ceased to work. My computer says the connection is fine, but no webpages will load. This problem has occurred to me before, and was solved by reserving a spot on the WiFi network for my old computer. However, I tried doing so for my new computer and it did not work. Any suggestions are welcome, thank you for your time.

Need System specs. Also it helps to know where the router is placed, the model of it. Also post a copy of the output from the command window for "netsh wlan show all" without the quotes. You need to go into the desktop, open up the Command window, and after it runs the command I posted. Right click on the top bar of the Command Window, choose "Select All", then "Copy". Then paste the output into a reply on here.

Hi all, I have recently just moved house and changed my ISP to Virgin media.I previously had setup a Netgear wifi extender (model vm3000Rp v3) to my old Talk Talk router. I have now successfully connected the extender to the new Virgin router. However when I try and add my desktop PC upstairs to the extender my PC only picks up the extender as "Talk Talk EXT" (my old setup) and so it wont connect. Is there anyway I can remove the old setup from the extender and start a fresh installation?

I've got a their wireless password, my router, and my ethernet cable connecting my router to my pc.
Do I need to pick up a wireless antenna to connect to my router as well?
Should I have my neighbor push the connectivity button on his router?
Dunno where to go from here.
Please help!
Thanks be in advance to anyone who understands wtf I'm going through and knows how to fix it

Actually they are breaking the ISP agreement in most countries.
The agreement will state that the broadband can only be used in one premises , this is so that people cannot provide neighbours with wifi ....

so as this is also against our rules - closing post

I have recently done a hard reset to my netgear WNDR3300, and, as I did when i originally got the device, I tried using the Setup CD. I have my DSL modem connected only to my desktop computer, and then i put in the CD. I only get as far as the first step on the installation before it says either, "Internet Connection not Available" or "Network Adapter Problem". Now, this must not be possible, because I have full access to the internet right now in posting this thread. What must I do in order to make setup via CD possible?

I am not exactly computer-literate, so please put in terms and step sizes a newbie would understand.

I apologize if this thread is a repeat, but i am desperate to find the answer.

Hi, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere; I've tried searching but couldn't find a definitive answer...

Basically, I'm just wondering about compatibility issues with the 64 bit version of Vista. I'd previously tried XP64 after I upgraded my system to an Athlon64 processor, but had to go back to XP SP2 when I discovered that I couldn't use the wifi PCI card in my machine because it's made by Netgear, who've resolutely refused to release any 64 bit drivers for any of their products.

So my question is simple; does Vista x64 provide 64 bit generic driver software for hardware which was previously unsupported?

Thanks in advance

A:Problems with netgear wifi laptop card

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On the W98 machine, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type COMMAND to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key:

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Okay, I have a PC in my bedroom which is at the end of my house, and the actual internet source (Thomson/BigPond) is at the other end. Between the internet source and the computer, there are several televisions, lights, speakers, etc that may be causing interference. It could also the the channels in which my items are in.
My PC doesn't have an actual wireless connection thing built in, and that's why I have this netgear router thing.
My PC is a HP pavilion.

The connection at which it receives is awfully frustrating. It's agonizingly slow, taking several minutes to load a page - that's if it actually decides to load up.

There is another netgear router a few rooms closer than my PC is that recieves internet properly.

Is there anything I could do to fix my connection speed/connection in general? Or just improve it at all?
Any help is appreciated!

That ipconfig /all is showing a default gateway IP address of 0.0.0.0

IP addresses of all zeros are normally caused by one of the following.

Diagnosis:
Firewall / security suite
DHCP Service not running.
Duplicate IP address on the network.
Bad NIC card drivers.
Defective NIC hardware.

Resolution:
What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG etc

Check Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. The DHCP Client service should be Started and its Startup Type should be Automatic.

Turn off ALL of the computers and other network connected devices, restart (power cycle) the router, then restart all the computers and other network devices.

Check for upgraded drivers and/or reload the Network drivers.

uninstall the adapter and restart PC - windows will re-install the drivers

Hi all,

Today I installed the latest netgear drivers for this wireless adapter of mine to hopefully improve my wifi signal on my PC, as it has been a bit slow recently and I thought the drivers were outdated or something. However since doing this my WiFi has now decided to disconect all the time meaning I am not really able to use the internet anymore. It just disconects me and I have to just re-conect again all the time. I have no removed those drivers and the problem still persists. Can anyone help?

Internet service provider is Virgin Media, also using a netgear router. I have AVG 2014 free on my PC. If anymore info is required I will add it

I have Windows 7 Enterprise N, a desktop not a laptop. Cheers,

Henry

A:WiFi disconects all the time on my PC-using Netgear WN311B adapter

Have you checked Event Viewer for clues?

Don't know if this would help but I had a similar problem that was not easy to find the cause of. I had my router set up to a static IP for my PC, but because of a bug in my Netgear router it couldn't handle Mac addresses beginning with something else than 00. So the router always kept trying to reconnect my PC because it couldn't allocate the correct IP to it.
The solution was to disable obtain IP automatically on my PC, and set a static IP outside the DHCP interval from my router.

this is nuts.... how to merely disable wifi, period.
turn OFFF the wifi radio on shiny new Netgear WNR1000.... I have the "easy setup manual" and find no reference to the task
There is a setting to turn off SSID broadcast, but if the "WIFI On" lamp/LED on the unit is reliable indicator of the radio's carrier band, it is still "on"

there should be a wireless on/off button somewhere on the router. I dont have this model so i dont know exactly where it is on yours. But go here and you should be able to find out how to do it: Netgear

I have a home network with an XP 64, and Linux SUSE 11.1 64 bit, hard wired to a Netgear WGR614v7 router connected to Clearwire wireless modem. I've connected to the network with an old laptop with Cisco wifi card. I had minimum problems connecting with the early wifi.

I just bought a new laptop with Vista, soon to be Win 7 I hope. When I try and connect to the network with wifi, I get limited access. I'm running WEP, authentication - automatic, 128 bit, and have typed the same "passphrase" more than once on both the router and in Vista. I'm not familar with WEP, and Vista. The problem seems to be in Vista authenticating the passphrase. If I could clear the network setup in Vista that would be a good start.

Hello

I recently got the newest NETGEAR router device, the NETGEAR Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Smart WiFi Router, and I am unable to connect to the 5GHz WiFi it provides on its Tri-band WiFi. I am currently only on its 2.4GHz WIFI, which I assume is lesser than the 5G. I am able to connect to the 5GHz on my smart phone, so I know it exists from the router. I am running a windows 8.1 currently on a desktop on an HP Envy 700-213 Desktop PC.

Edit: My computer supports 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n radio types - which supports 5GHz WiFi
My adapter is a Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter

Any ideas for why I am unable to connect to this WiFi?

A:Unable to connect to 5GHz Wifi on NETGEAR Tri-Band Router

The most likely explanation is that the wifi adapter in your HP Envy 700-213 doesn't support the 5Ghz band.

If you really want to connect at 5Ghz you will need to get a new wifi adapter for your computer.

I recently found out that I can connect my computer to my screen using an HDMI cord. I attempted to do so, but the screen image went off the screen on all directions, so I re-connected the original serial cord. But since then I have only had 2 bars for my internet service, and I used to have all 5 bars. I've tried adjusting the antennas, raising the router higher, nothing seems to fix the issue. I dont know why this happened, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi all - you might notice this is my first post here so patience is appreciated So here s my story I have cable internet through Cox renting a Netgear CG with over freezing strong Netgear Internet router constantly signal from wifi D gateway from them Starting about a month after installation the internet started freezing over wifi I say freezing because it would just suddenly stop and the only way to get it to start coming through again is to reset wifi from the device This happens with every device we use smartphones tablets laptops wii and lately it s been at least a dozen times a day I ve spent hours on the phone with Cox had their techs out to the house three times now and still no solution I ll admit that I m no expert when it comes to this stuff but I really don t appreciate them charging me a pop to come to my house and ask if I tried resetting the modem suggesting I just unplug it for a minute tell me it s working fine after they hold a signal on their phone for seconds one spent a couple hours knocking around outside before coming back in to say he ran all new cables drilled holes through my house to move the modem to a better spot and everything should be fine It s not Anyway after hours of research online I m convinced the problem is somewhere in the modem s settings or just a faulty modem I Internet constantly freezing over wifi with strong signal from Netgear router ve lost hope in getting any help from Cox so am here hoping that someone with some real knowledge can help me There are no issues with the wifi signal itself - it s always strong - just the internet coming over it Internet constantly freezing over wifi with strong signal from Netgear router drops out often as frequently as every seconds I can t stream a song watch a video download or even update an app over wifi on my smartphone If this info helps it happens every day with two iPhones a Wii an iPad a MacBook running OSX and various Android phones and tablets of friends I ve only tried basic things like changing the channel in the wireless network settings with no luck I d be Internet constantly freezing over wifi with strong signal from Netgear router happy to post any info that anyone would need to help just tell me what you need nbsp

The most recent driver I find on Netgear's site for the WG311v3 is this one, which claims to be for XP and Vista 32-bit. Where did you find a 64-bit Windows 7 or Vista driver?

I think it's even less likely that found a 64-bit driver for the WG311v1.

Should be easy!....
But I cannot get my NEW Netgear N600 router to communicate with a NEW Netgear WN 3000 RP extender.

The instructions say to press the WPS button on the extender then the WPS button on the router. No WPS button exists on the router!

The instructions also I can use any wireless network manager utility to set this up. Can't find where this is in Windows 7.

The I pad has found the NETGEAR_EXT address but won't connect. And the light on the extender does no indicate teh router is communicating with it.

Thought this process would be a simple plug and play, but...frustration!

The following information is from the .pdf for your Belkin router.

In your browser, type “http://router” (you do not need to type in anything else such as “www”) . Then press the Enter key.

If you’re still having trouble running the manual setup option, type “192 .168 .2 .1” in your browser (you do not need to type in anything else such as “http://” or “www”) . Then press the Enter key.

pdf attached is for your router.

Hi all

One of those (probably) stupid questions if you know the answer ...

Just bought a Belkin N300 F7D2401 v1 'Modem and Router' unit but it will not connect to the internet and I am going round in circles trying to fix the issue.

Do I also need a seperate modem? I assumed not, as it seems to be an 'upgrade' from the Belkin G I had run for years (also a 'Modem and Router' unit), but thought it worth asking.

Thanks in advance

The internet works fine when I connect it directly to my PC (via the modem), and other PCs too.
So no issue of MAC address lockdown.

I've tried connecting through static mode with the data from ipconfig /all, but it still doesn't work.

I've even installed DD WRT and Tomato to no avail.

I've rebooted/reset everything, but theres still no connection.

Please help.
Thanks

A:Belkin Router N300 doesn't connect to internet

If the modem is a modem only did you power cycle it when trying to connect the router and configure the router's WAN properly?

If the modem is really a modem/router combo is it and the Belkin using the same LAN IP subnet?

Hello I need some advice on how to Netgear N900 center Netgear USB and control proceed My issue is with USB printing from the Netgear N900 and Netgear USB control center router the Netgear N WNDR to be specific The use of Netgear s USB control center has worked with this router before the computer was reloaded but will not after the reload Let me explain a little about the situation There are two computers on the network running XP Both were able to use the USB control center to print to the HP OfficeJet v through the router and even scan One computer has been upgraded with two SSD drives installed in a raid configuration and windows reinstalled Then I reinstalled drivers and updated windows After several hours copying manually backed up files and repairing shortcuts I started reinstalling software that needed to be put back on the system One of which was the Netgear USB control center after installing the printer The software installed correctly with no errors with a required reboot When I open the program it will not see the printer The printer has to be on for the software to be able to see it This still works on the other computer with no problems I have check the firewall setting and even tried with the firewall disabled temporarily I upgraded the USB control center from version to but still plagued with the same results I know XP is outdated but some software is still needed like the USB control center that will not work in Linux Ubuntu is also installed on this computer on the same raid drives but there is no way that I have found to see the printer connected to the router My understanding is that the control center makes a virtual USB port connected trough UDP so the OS thinks and sees the printer connected via USB The two system files that installed to the system drivers folder are netgearUDSMBus sys and netgearUDSTcpBus sys I m at a loss for what to do next or where to go from here Is there any other software that can be utilized with the router and usb printer Is there a way I can manually make the connection Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated nbsp

To start off I'll tell how it all happened First almost months ago I bought a PCI Card Wireless my PCI HD Rosewill Audio Broke N300 Realtek Wireless card from newegg it came in a week later and it was defective I returned it for a new Rosewill N300 PCI Wireless Card Broke my Realtek HD Audio one and got it another two weeks later Very slow shipping It was working but when I installed what was on the disk it came with my HD Audio Manager went wacky and said I was plugging in and out audio devices I just clicked OK on all of them So I got good speeds but I realized I hadn't any audio coming from my speakers The realtek HD audio was set to default playback device and both ports on the audio jack were securely in It simply wouldn't work A restart didn't fix it either So I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the PCI Wireless card a couple of times restarting time after time just going through troubleshooting processes in hope that one would fix it So during the process after the first time of uninstalling I found the card defective again only giving Mb s download speed just as the first defective card Over the whole convoluted process I hadn't fixed my speakers my mouse drivers broke so I had to put it into a different port and I have another defective PCI wireless card So my question is how would I fix my speakers The speakers are in my monitor and what it's usually named is Realtek HD Audio or something but now it's named High Definition Audio Device Are there any fixes I can try Or is more information needed Thanks

A:Rosewill N300 PCI Wireless Card Broke my Realtek HD Audio

High Definition Audio Device indicates that the generic basic function Windows installed audio drivers are installed instead of your RealTek.

Reinstall the RealTek, either from the installation disc that came with the motherboard or from the ASUS site for your specific model motherboard.

As far as the Rosewill PCI card, first you should be using a PCIe card, not a PCI as the PCI bus on most newer motherboards is a "bridge" to the PCIe bus and many PCI cards do not function correctly with the bridged PCI slot. Second, I would get something other than Rosewill, which tends to be a "cheaper" brand.

Another issue I see is two Antivirus programs. Having two programs, like you show (Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast) will conflict and can cause many problems. I, and all my clients, only use the Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes (for malware/spyware).

My mom has a Acer laptop and a Belkin n300 wireless router that she recently installed. Ever since she installed the belkin router she can only use the Internet for a short amount of time before she gets the blue screen. Other devices work fine on the wireless router (iPhone, iPod, iPad and Kindle Fire). Prior to the belkin she had another riuter and never got the blue screen. Any ideas of what might be causing this? I feel like its a simple setting either on the laptop and/or the router, but everything I have tried has not worked. She has a broadband modem for her Internet connection.

Thank you!

You don't need to install software to connect to a router. Uninstall whatever you installed.

I have a Embarq 660 Series modem, but i wanted wifi. so i bought a belkin N300 wireless router this morning. And it won't connect to internet. I'm pretty sure i've plug the cable in the right spot. And the EQ 660R ADSL router/modem is working. The belkin package came with a CD, and it's the setup program for the wireless router. but as it tried to form a connection, it said failed to connect to the modem. so does this means embarq 660 series isn't compatible with Belkin N300?

A:Solved: why can't my eq 660R ADSL router connect to Belkin N300?

I vaguely recall that the Embarq modem/routers default to the same LAN IP addresses (192.168.2.x) as the Belkin routers do. If this is the case to daisy chain the routers you need to change the LAN addresses of one of them (e.g., to 192.168.3.x).

Or you could use the Belkin as just an ethernet switch and wireless access point ...

For reference, here's a link to a Typical example config using a Netgear router

there maybe a conflict between the windows wireless utility and the belkin wireless utility - are these both running at the same time

would you post back the ipconfig /all when it disconnects

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Start> Run {search bar in Vista/W7}> type CMD to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

Type the following command
Ping {then a space and then add the number that is shown against the item labeled "default gateway" shown in the results from the ipconfig /all}
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping 209.183.226.152
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste
For your information only
these tests will check various stages of the connection, the first ping test, ping default gateway checks to see if you still have a connection to the router.
The next two Ping google.com & Ping 209.183.226.152 tests the connection to internet. google is to test by name and the ping test using a number is checking that a connection exists without DNS.
these tests then confirm if there is a dns issue on the connection.Click to expand...

Ugh I don t like it when I feel like a tech noob For several years my family has run an ADSL connection with Telstra on one of their stock Thomson TG T I think modem routers It F9J1002 N300 (01) connection drops ADSL reason Belkin v1 no apparent for had worked mostly fine for most of it s life with the odd bug Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason and need for a restart Early January this year it started to Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason drop the entire system s connection to ADSL it still considered everything to be connected to it and there was apparently Internet access but it was so incredibly slow that we pages and emails just sat on the same loading progress A simple flick of the switch would re-establish connection for the time being As time went on this became more frequent until it didn t fix the problem at all so we decided to get a new modem router On the old router we had about - devices hooked in three by Ethernet - via wireless I ll list them just to be on the safe side By WiFi laptops - Windows Windows Vista The Windows one is usually on in the afternoon the other is used probably once a day for emails Desktop PC running Windows Vista It is rarely used though iPad s School makes us have these and they are usually on - smartphones depending on the time of day And via Ethernet iMac - running OSX Lion This is almost always on but asleep I have run Minecraft servers on this in the past with no problems Epson Stylus TX W printer And on occasion Desktop PC running Windows XP I put the router needing a restart constantly down to old age because I figured that years of service wasn t terrible for a stock ISP router So we bought a new Belkin N300 F9J1002 v1 (01) drops ADSL connection for no apparent reason modem router a Belkin N F J v It has worked well for about months No complaints except video streaming is a bit slow even via the Ethernet connection I had occasionally run a Mincraft server on it but not often Then last Saturday I set up a Mumble server like TeamSpeak but open source on my iMac so my friends and I could enjoy low latency chat whilst playing League of Legends on my Windows laptop I also started playing that on the same day They had previously used Skype to play but Skype is a bit draggy on the latency and made everybody lag a bit and people kept disconnecting randomly on it Mumble also worked well for those who used it mostly LoL has been the first online game I ve played other than Minecraft for over a year since Star Wars The Old Republic which I dumped quickly because I decided to dislike MMORPGs I don t use an external static IP address so I signed up for a free dynamic address at www dnsdynamic org and downloaded their Windows GUI to change the IP assigned to my host name This worked for about a week until the router decided to almost completely stop the ADSL connection during a game Mum was trying to download emails at the time and she was most displeased It took me about minutes to get everything to go again I tried pulling the power on the router loading various web pages which didn t actually happen I eventually remembered being able to restart the router from the webpage GUI which I did and it worked I thought I had fixed it I thought it was either a router bug possibly a hardware or firmware problem but Mum was convinced that it was either my Mumble server or me playing LoL She has Dad convinced too This is not good because when we bought it I had told Dad it would do the job the sales clerk had convinced both Dad and Me that it was the best router brand and that Mb s would be fast enough for the rural Internet connection we have here so he bought it I hadn t at the time expected to be playing online games in the future otherwise I d have bought a dual brand router I was originally leaning towards a D-Link router The problem is I ve seen it lag up a heap and disconnect about times in the past days at inconvenient ti... if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)
Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

When i was using windows 8 the wifi was good and would never get disrupted. But i updated to windows 8.1 and now when am downloading something the wifi gets disconnected and wont show the network even if the router is on and my phone is still connected to it.I have to toggle the wifi on and off for some 6-7 times and then toggle airplane mode on and off for 3-4 times to get it to discover the network. Is this because of the adapter or driver and my laptop has a ralink wifi adapter. What should i do?Thanks

I've had experience this problem for a while now on my newly built windows rig Every few hours my Wifi simply stops working the connection is lost Sometimes it reconnects after a minute or so Most of the time I would need to manually disable enable the wifi adapter in my Network Settings to get it back up again It happened with a relatively expensive adapter that I bought not to long ago - Netgear A USB dual-band wifi adapter I found 2 hours (tested adapters) loses connection wifi on every Wifi diff few a thread about this issue here I've not been able to resolve it with any of the tips provided including downloading a generic rd party Mediatek driver I've used this same adapter without Wifi loses connection every few hours (tested on 2 diff wifi adapters) this problem on my older Win machine I thought maybe this adapter quot went bad quot So I tried to replace this adapter with an older Wifi adapter made by Rosewill using older Rosewill drivers The same issue occurs Again this Rosewill adapter worked perfectly in my Win system So I have a hunch the problem is Windows itself Does it not place nicely with existing or older wifi adapters on the market Would I need to buy a new adapter specifically certified for Windows Anyone have any insights on this would be greatly appreciated

Hello I have recently bought a new pci wifi lan card Ralink rt turbo and have plugged in and installed drivers Initially the drivers the company I bought it from 7 any Ralink WiFi not windows RT61 card, signals wifi Lan receiving told me to install didn't work but after some googling found the correct drivers and downloaded from Ralinks website However these didn't work either When using the Ralink wireless utility it says that the card is disconnected however in device manage it is both connect Ralink RT61 WiFi Lan card, windows 7 not receiving any wifi signals and the correct drivers installed and everything is perfectly fine I ignored the wireless utility and hoped that windows would still be able to use the wireless card as past experiences have shown to be true This case however I get nothing Windows says that the Ralink RT61 WiFi Lan card, windows 7 not receiving any wifi signals wireless card is experiencing problems it doesn't show any of the routers that should be shown I have been looking around a lot and there have been several drivers Ralink RT61 WiFi Lan card, windows 7 not receiving any wifi signals that should have worked and they haven't I would have thought that the antenna is broken or the card doesn't work however when I use it with ubuntu instead of windows it works perfectly fine without any hassle so the card is definitely working Any advice that anyone can give on how to resolve this would be very welcome Thanks Aieden
