I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey Nelly,

i'm on my way out for today, but i can tell you this, check out for the inspiron 8000 specifications maybe on the manual if you have it or else, in the internet. I guess 8000s use 3com network cards(not completely sure), so what you need for get that card running is the driver software. If it is a common 3com you can find it here http://www.network-drivers.com/companies/294.htm or else, if it is not a 3com card check out the list at www.network-drivers.com for the right card brand you have.

Someone I know just recently gave me an Inspiron 8000 but he says the hard drive is messed up. I try to turn it on and it has the Dell loading screen, then the screen goes black, but then it just going back to the loading screen. It does that process over and over. The hard drive does make a suspicious clicking sound every time the screen goes black. The original OS was Windows ME but I'm not sure what it is now. Should I risk $60 (on newegg) and buy a new hard drive? What should I do?

A:Dell Inspiron 8000 problems

if it si merely the hard drive that is bad. ( and it definitely sounds like the HD is toast) you should get a boot up message about no boot device found etc.

try accessing the bios during boot up, if you can then replacing the hard drive should give you are workable laptop. if he didnt give you the dell xp disk your goiing to need a copy of windows.

i have a friend who has a Dell Inspiron 8000. I can't figure out where to put a wireless card. I do not see any slots for it. Does anyone know if a wireless card can be used with this model? I don't think it had built in wireless. Seemed to old for that.

Thanks for your help

A:Dell Inspiron 8000 Can it be wireless?

According to the specs of that Inspiron, it has two PC card slots on the side of the case....somewhere usually on the right side toward the back of the computer. And no, it's not wireless built in.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/plav/sm/specs.htm#1000450

It could use a PCMCIA wireless card.

You have to purchase compatible RAM. Go to www.crucial.com, and allow it to scan your system to determine what options are available.

You can install Windows XP. I doubt it would run Vista well.

Thank goodness you people are around!!

I'd like to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 8000.
Currently has 256mb RAM - I know it can only go up to 512mb RAM.
Which brand of Memory is best??

Alos, I'd like to upgrade the hard drive also.
Currently has 10GB.
Does anyone know the maximum GB's for this computer hard drive?
Which brand of hrad drive should I buy?

If I get max RAm (512mb) and max hard drive (GB's) would it be
possible to then install Windows XP on to this computer?

Thanks in advance for your help.

hi all i m new to the site I m a young computer technician and i specialize more in desktop computers rather than laptops but i ve been getting many laptops this days I got here a dell inspiron problem is that when powering on screen gets beige is not white or gray but beige theres no image there rather than that color if i plug in a monitor 8000 Beige inspiron on Dell Screen i can perfectly see dell logo and etc there but nothing on the laptop screen i ve checked the connections in the video card which is an ATi one and there s no scratches or cuts or anything visibly damaged i took the screen out and everything is connected just that a yellow tape that sticks the video data cable to the back of the screen is slightly removed as i know from the owner he took it to another tecnician before for other problem this guy screwed it Beige Screen on Dell inspiron 8000 up more returning it with the screen this way anyway i was wondering is this screen damaged for good taking the fact that cables look good and that i have video in the monitor output or could there be a problem with the ATi card connector doesn t look in bad shape either Thanks for any comment nbsp

sounds to me like the backlight has gone. Try looking at the screen under both bright and low light to see if you can see an image - if you can this would confirm the diagnosis.

I'm replacing the 10Gb HD on my old Dell Inspiron 8000 with a new 80Gb HD (both HDs are Hitachi Travelstar).

I was planning on cloning the present HD to my Maxtor 320Gb External HD, and then cloning that to the new 80Gb HD using Maxtor MaxPlus.

I'd appreciate any advice (particularly if there are better ways than I'm planning) on exactly how to do this. And will it be a problem cloning down from the larger external HD to the smaller new HD??

This is first post, so please excuse any display of ignorance from me.

I know that the hard drive is bad. It will not let me boot up to try and recover data. Last resort is to send to a data recovery specialist.

If the drive is cool, it will try to boot, but it is looking for a corrupted file, "ntoskrnl.exe" in the \System32 dir (Win 2000 Pro). Is there a way I can transfer this file onto the drive?

I have tried to Repair with the Dell reinstall CD, it does not work. It hangs up during the checking C:\ drive portion. I tried it under the Console Recovery and same thing. Also tried the "fixboot"; it did not do anything for me.

Any Suggestions?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks,

u can try connecting an external monitor from a desktop if u have one or borrow one and see if that monitor shows anything without problems.it sounds to me that your monitor on the laptop has gone bad.. the led modules that light it up have gone bad or your video card might be bad.it could also be that the motherboard or hard drive is failing.usually if just the monitor is bad it should load up with no problems.hope this helps u.

Right click a blank space on your screen and choose properties> settings> advanced> adapter> properties> driver> update driver. If your file is not in the correct format and will not update then choose uninstall instead. Close all those screens and then choose to install the driver you downloaded.

Yeah, I have a problem with this laptop and whenever I try to connect it to the internet, I get a "Network Cable unplugged" for 2 seconds than a connection for 2 seconds and then it repeats this same thing over and over and over. It is driving me MAD and I can't get on the internet with the laptop.

First of all I asked my computer tech friend and he doesn't know what to do. I asked his computer tech teacher and he doesn't know. I tried calling Dell and they gave me bull**** about, "You need to replace the mobo and it's going to cost 100s of dollars."

So, if anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Also I did install the correct drivers so that eliminates that question.

When you were talking with AT&T did they have you reset the modem to its default settings and then let it reconfigure? Unless something happened to physically damage the modem a reset should have gotten internet connectivity.

A:Inspiron 8000 display dim

Hi mmann

It could be that the cable connecting the LCD to the laptop has gone bad and is opening up in certain positions. You could also try reseating the connector between the system board and the display. It could be making a bad contact. The same with the other connectors in the LCD display itself.

Hi,

I just reformatted an old Dell Inspiron 5100 with XP SP3.
All drivers are installed and there are no exclamation marks in the Driver Manager.

The network card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller.
When I connect my network cable to the machine it doesnt not detect the connection. I tried the same cable in another computer and it is working fine so I know that there is a connection, however, in this machines it does not detect it.

Any ideas on this issue or how to identify the problem?

A:Does not detect network connection in Dell Inspiron 5100

You've confirmed that the network adapter driver is installed and the network adapter is working properly, and you've confirmed that the CAT5 cable isn't bad, so neither of those is the problem.

Try resetting the cable modem and then restarting the computer.

A:RE: My Dell Inspiron 3543 keeps losing WiFi connection

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us!
Since you have installed the drivers , was it from the Dell support site and the latest one available.
You can also try the following steps:
Enter Command to Fix No Wi-Fi in Windows 10
Important: Follow the steps below carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
You can use command to fix this no wireless issue after Windows 10 install if it?s triggered by VPN software.
Step 1. Right click the Start button and select ?Command Prompt (Admin)? from the menu. This can launch Command Prompt as Admin.
Step 2. Type the following command and hit the Enter key:
reg delete HKCR\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f
Step 3. Enter the command below into the Command Prompt and press Enter key once more:
netcfg -v -u dni_dne
Step 4. Restart the computer and check back with your Wi-Fi settings. You now should see a revived list of all the available networks within range.
Note: If you have the Cisco VPN client, Sonic Global client or other VPN software running on your computer and you are planning to upgrade to Windows 10, uninstall the VPN before proceeding.
Kindly let us know if the issue is fixed.
Thanks
Robin

Hello, I am using a Dell Inspiron mini netbook with factory specs (as in just out of the box no modifications to the hardware or operating system) I am running Windows XP Home edition, and I am using a TP-Link wireless 2 in one modem (router and modem combined). My roomates are not experiencing any wireless internet problems so I do not believe it is the modem/router, my wireless keeps disconnecting me constantly and I am not sure what is causing the problem.

Thank you for taking your time to read this and thanks in advance for any advice that can be given.

Would you post an xirrus screen shot - see below - lets see what's in the area
and also
would you do the following tests when its connected and post here and then repeat ALL the test when it disconnects and post here
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{ipconfig /all}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here
-> Start
-> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all
-> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all

A black box will appear on the screen -
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy

then reply here and
control key + V to paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{Ping Tests}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Type the following command
Ping {plus the number thats shown against the default gateway shown in above ipconfig /all}
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping 209.183.226.152
post back results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Then run the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

I'm missing the "local area connection" for a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop. Hence, I cannot seem to connect to the net.

Anybody got any solutions?

Thanks in advance.

A:Local area connection missing, Dell Inspiron 1300

Is your wireless working? Go under your BIOS and see if the WiFi is enabled or functioning. Download any BIOS updates, WiFi drivers update an etc.. If all is done and you still have the issue. Buy USB WiFi NIC Dongle and test that and see if you can get LAN or WAN connection.

Hi, I apologize if this post has been posted before but only thing I could find was a thread of someone who had a similar problem but solved it somehow, randomly.

This is an *ancient* laptop...but it's been working perfectly the past lengthy years. Just recently, however, the wireless network does not work. It detects them so it's not that part of the wireless but for some reason, it will not connect.

With the cable, I can access the internet fine but won't work for the wireless

I'm not a tech-oriented person at all so I will most likely need step by step instructions and my jargon won't be accurate at all. Again, I apologize (especially if this is in the wrong forum!)

Thank you

A:Dell Inspiron 600m: Detection but no connection to Wireless Networks

Hi

i had a similar problem with an advent laptop that was given to me to fix, i tried all sorts of things but couldnt get it to connect to my home network (which is secured with a WPA PSK key), the strange thing is it will connect to a non secure network without a problem.

So try and see if it will connect to a network that has the security turned off.

Normally use Chrome, but tried IE as well with no success. With all indicatons showing internet connection and yet having no access to the internet I suspect malware. It seems to be similar to a browser hijack. I can find nothing online that addresses this problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Seems like a BSoD happened, but I didn't see any blue screen.
Every Dell's diagnostics utility say everything is working alright.
After a Windows clean install, it seemed to stop happening for some days.

I did a google search on this error, and it seems related to the GPU, I did better testing on it.
I tried different nvidia drivers (266.58 and 263.11), but nothing resolved.
Sometimes it happens when I'm booting up my PC, but it mostly happens while I'm actively using it.
GPU is not overclocked and the freeze happens even when its temperature is really low. It didn't happen during the furmark benchmark.

The following details are not confirmed, since I'm currently testing them:
It doesn't seem to happen while I use the PC without video driver, or when I link the PC to the screen using a VGA cable.
It only seems to happen when I link my monitor (Samsung SyncMaster T220HD) with an HDMI cable.

The system is still in warranty, so I if I bring it back to the shop I will have it repaired for free, but I'd like to try solving the problem without having to wait several weeks...

Thanks in advance for any input!

You have 5 different Bug Check codes and that is usually hardware. Since 2-3 of them are video related I share your suspicion that is it video driver, or card.

I would re-install the driver this way

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

I would also run a system file check to verify and repair system files. Neither should void your warranty.

If these both come back clean there are a few other things we can try

Over the last 2 days I have been having a problem as indicated in the title of this post. The fault has rectified itself 3 times, but again today, it is back to "battery plugged in, not charging." As I am running the laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium; 32 bit) on the adapter without problems, I assume that the adapter itself may not be faulty.
I also have a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop running Windows 7.  Can I safely use that adapter with the Vista laptop, without causing damage to the Vista ?  If it is safe to do so, and the battery on the Vista starts charging, then it would indicate that the Vista adapter/charger has some kind of fault.
Hoping someone can give me some guidance. Thanks.

A:Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. Battery plugged in not charging. Can I use adapter from a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop ?

If the adapter has the same plug and the same or higher power rating, you can swap them.
Check to see whether the 1545 recognizes the AC adapter or whether it shows unknown (F2 at powerup).  If it shows unknown with two different adapters, you have a bad power jack or a bad mainboard.

Hi all,

I have recently been asked to look at a friends' Tecra 8000 (PII 233) and to give it a bit of an update.....Not sure why as the most I have ever done is to add a few small components to my home PC!!

My question is is it possible for a broadband connection to be established - I have looked all over the notebook, but cannot find anything that would suggest that it can be done.
Also what other upgrades should (can) we look at.

Sorry for the noobness, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ben

A:Tecra 8000 and broadband connection

Wow? this is really an oldie?
By broadband do you mean the LAN port?

As far as I know the Tecra 8000 was not equipped with LAN port.
It?s really unbelievable but this is a fact?

However, if you would like to use LAN then I recommend buying a PCMCIA LAN card (Cardbus 32-Bit) which would allows you to connect the Tecra 8000 to LAN.

Cheers

Not a question just an informational post Recently bought Power Studio Supply XPS Dell Upgrade 8000 a Dell Studio XPS from Best Buy Love the computer works great but I ve already added a hard drive will be adding a Blu-Ray burner as a second optical and may add a TV tuner card The stock W supply just seemed a bit puny so I swapped in a Corsair TX W supply It works fine I know that s overkill but Fry s had it on sale for bucks cheaper than the I was going to buy Issues The stock power supply is mm deep this one is mm deep Made for a tight fit but nothing had to be forced Don t go larger than that though The Corsair has PCI-E connectors only one is needed in this PC so you have three extra cables to stash none of the cables are detachable There are two SATA cables with four connectors each Two hard drives and two optical drives can be run off one Dell Studio XPS 8000 Power Supply Upgrade cable Sweet Leaves an extra cable to stash There are eight old style -pin connectors on two cables so two more cables to stash The -pin EPS connector splits in two so it works for the -pin EPS on the mainboard Very quiet I like it but if I had to do it over again I d likely go with something with detachable cables The bundle of unused cables is large but fits in the space available where horizontally-mounted hard drives would normally be the Dell has them mounted vertically nbsp

A:Memory not detected in Bios - Dell Studio XPS 8000

As that model doesnt have diver support for windows 10, that may be part of the issue. That rig wasnt meant for w10, have you considered going back? That may help. I dont see a way to run that OS on that hardware. At least reliably.

I would suggest the same as I posted in the other thread - Driver Verifier -

I know this is a longshot since a problem like this is hard to diagnose remotely but here it goes I have a Dell Inspiron typo laptop I don t think the specific specs are entirely necessary for this problem I dropped it a couple of feet when we Dell problem Inspiron were moving into the new house and it Dell Inspiron problem landed on the corner dang Now I get no lights no boot no anything when i press the power button I tried every combination of swapping the battery putting it in another slot running of just AC adaptor no dice Since it is no longer under warranty I decided to pop off the top panel that covers the power reset buttons and inspect that circuit board for any cracks or busted solder joints and I saw none If anyone has any ideas about the possible source of the problem I would apprectiate Dell Inspiron problem it Actually I would even appreciate a recommendation on the quickest way to access the mobo and power supply on this particular model thanks -David nbsp

A:Dell Inspiron problem

I think that the power supply on those is built into the motherboard. You could try the usual, removing any extra devices and drives, reseating the memory and seeing if the system boots. Other than that you will need to remove about every screw you see in the back and several others to get to the system board. BOL

Remove the battery and disconnect the AC power.
Remove the memory door.
Remove the miniPCI door.
Remove the hinge cover.
Remove the keyboard.
Remove the palmrest assembly.

I also was thinking there may be a loose connection to the LCD??

Any help or insight would be awesome

My dad just bought a Dell inspiron 1525, running on vista. plugged it into an LG LCD tv using a HDMI cable, beautiful, picture came up perfectly. changed the channel on the tv, changed back to the HDMI channel (HDMI 3), and nothing. no picture at all, even though on the LCD's channel selection the picture of the HDMI port is highlighted showing there is something plugged in. Tried it a few times since in different HDMI ports and no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A:Dell inspiron to LG LCD tv, HDMI problem.

I had a good experiance the first time i hooked my inspiron 1525 up to the tv through hdmi.
The next days wasnt as fun
I had to go to *display*
and play with the dual monitor options for a while.
its been a few months so i dont remember the exact settings.

I also had the same problem after a reformat...would work great the first hook up..but needed intervention after that.

Also have your laptop ready to go and plug it in to the tv before switching inputs devices through the remote on the tv....no signal then the tv can stop trying to search for it..
depends on the model
On my tv i have about 5 seconds tops

Next it says "insert Windows Installation Disk"
The problem is Dell didn't supply a Windows Disk.
At the bottom of the screen, it says :-"info: The Boot Selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
Also there is the status code:- 0xc000000e

Hi and welcome.
Try removing one stick of Ram and see if that makes a difference.

Run a Mem Test.
http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Download the ISO file from one of the links above to your desktop.
Then burn the ISO to a Cd.
Start the Pc using the Cd and run the memory test overnight or for at least 8 passes.

It is best to run a full scan on individual Ram sticks if you can.
Or run the test but if any errors are shown - then remove all sticks of Ram and test each Ram stick one at a time.

Guide to using Memtest86+
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic207910.html

You can also run the Mem test from a USB stick
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Scroll down to [ Download (Pre-built & ISOs]
Download -Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7) *NEW!*

If you can download BlueScreenView
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
Download link at the bottom of the page.

Download > install.
Once it has scanned > Click on Edit > Select All > File > Save Selected Item
It will open in Notepad - or save to Notepad > Copy > Paste and Post the last 5 minidump files from the scan.

Since I did the install the machine is acting a lot better, it boots faster & shuts off fine. But, after it gets warmed up, when you click on an item (Microsoft Word) on the menu bar, like edit to cut & paste, the shaded area jumps back and forth. It will jump back to file, then to format. The hotter the machine get the more this happens, then I have a hard time cutting the machine off, does anybody know what is going on? Is it a hardware problem or software problem? I am running a Dell Inspiron i7 N5110.

The problem that I am experiencing is that every time I run a fullscreen application, usually a game, online or standalone, I keep getting kicked back to the desktop every 15 seconds or so and I have to click the icon to activate the application again.

I updated all the screen drivers, ran Advanced System Care, disabled dwn.exe, fixed the registry and the problem still persists.

I am out of ideas.

Any help out there pretty please?

A:Software problem with Dell Inspiron

First thing uninstall Advanced System Care those programs often do more harm then good.
By dwn do you mean dwm Desktop Window Manager, or something else?

How old is the system?
Has the heatsink ever been blown out with a can of compressed air?

lets get a look at the temps the system is running D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

Have an older DELL 4100 with a new battery. New battery because the "old" one would cause the machine to "lock-up". Only way to fix this was to remove battery from bay and run on plug-power. Sort of defeats the Notebook PC thing. New battery does the same thing in the battery bay, but 4100s can take the battery in either bay. When I do this, the machine runs but the mouse is "herky-jerky... basically unusable.

What up?

You can't change the mode from UEFI to Legacy without reloading the OS - and the reload image is made to boot the system in UEFI mode.
When you ran the diagnostic, did you do the surface test (takes a couple of hours) or the quick 10-min test?  If the latter, do the former - you'll likely find the drive is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Hey guys,
I've got a problem with my old Inspiron 600m.
One day the fan stopped working (I got the blue-screen-of-death), so I ordered a new one, but the problem hasnt been solved.
I guess the laptop goes "blue-screen" because it doesn't want to overheat...

Is this a cheap fix, or does it sound like an expensive problem (I was thinking motherboard problem?)?
If it's a cheap fix, I'd like to get it fixed as its just lying there and it'd be nice to have a spare laptop...

Thanks in advanced.

A:Dell Inspiron 600m Fan Problem

If the fan drive electronics has failed (on the motherboard) then its an expensive fix.

With surface mount devices (conents) motherboard faults are usuall only fixed by replacement, as spot SMD fault location and repair is uneconomic, and its really not DIY unless you can trace the fault and have worked with SMD's.

Have you installed all the drivers like chipset, and video? Did you reinstall the OS using the Dell restore utility? Have you run Windows Update to reinstall all the Microsoft critical update files?

Hello all nbsp This is my first official post here nbsp I've have the Dell Inspiron M laptop nbsp It worked great till one day the keyboard stopped responding nbsp Problem Dell Keyboard Inspiron All keys don't respond except for some peculiar situations nbsp When the computer boots up the keyboard doesn't respond at all nbsp Therefore I can't even get into my BIOS even if I wanted Dell Inspiron Keyboard Problem too nbsp Once the computer finishes Dell Inspiron Keyboard Problem booting up I can use Dell Inspiron Keyboard Problem the external USB mouse and even the touchpad with no problem nbsp The keyboard doesn't work at all no capslock no numlock no nothing nbsp When I start IExplorer and try to type anything nothing happens but if I hit certain keys in succession the browser closes and then if I try and restart IExplorer from the shortcut on my desktop or the shortcut in the tool tray it brings me to the dialogue box where the exe file is located nbsp At this point the touchpad doesn't work partially nbsp What I mean is the mouse moves if I touch the touchpad but when i tap the touchpad to click on icons it doesn't respond nbsp So I have to manually click the left button on the touchpad nbsp Everything resets when I restart the computer which I have to do almost everytime to figure out what might be causing the problem nbsp When restarting the system the computer beeps atleast - times in a distinct pattern quickly before showing the Dell logo on screen nbsp I've contacted Dell support several times and tried troubleshooting the problem with them and the best advice I got was to check all the connections of the keyboard internally and try to isolate the problem nbsp I not only rechecked the connection of the internal keyboard but I thought it might be some malicious virus so I re-installed windows xp and even flashed the BIOS but that didn't help nbsp I finally decided to replace the keyboard figuring that must be the final problem but when I swapped in the new keyboard same problem nbsp nbsp Although the keyboard appears to completely dead and inactive I've realized that when I start to press multiple keys to get any response some short cuts do activate although I don't which keys I hit exactly nbsp There nbsp are some responses but only when I press multiple keys in succession Anyhow I don't know what to do at this point nbsp Dell acts as if though this problem is a first to them and they insist it has to be the keyboard but I switched it and now I've spent upwards of - hours trying to troubleshoot this and I'm about to lose it nbsp Any advice or help would be much appreciated nbsp Thank you ahead of time nbsp Ks Message Edited by KidSeoul on - - PM

A:Dell Inspiron Keyboard Problem

Hi,
Unless you are very unlucky and got a bad replacement KBD, it sounds like the KBD controller on the MBD. Are there any signs of a spill ? If not it could have been taken out by static, or you may just be unlucky with it. The MBD costs a lot more than a KBD.........

I was just given a Dell Insprion 5000 Laptop
Only problem is that when I turn it on, I can hear fans running and the hard drive running as well, but the screen shows nothing. It just stays black and I can hear a clicking sound like when a DVD player or CD player has trouble reading a disc. It does this with and woith out power cords plugged in (if power cords is the right wording)
also- when I try to turn it off, it wont. I have to pull out the battery to make it stop! This is crazy @[email protected]
I've asked around and everyone is guessing its the mother board. What do you guys think?
I know nothing about computers so I will be very thankful or any ideas and/or help.

A:Problem(s) with dell inspiron 5000

It suggests that the laptop is not even trying to boot.

So the problem could be anything form motherboard to CPU or ...

That it runs the fans on either battery or power suggests that its not a power issue.

Apart from that it does sound quite major. The real problem with a fault in a laptop is that its exceptionally hard to try repair by replacement as you can do with a desktop.

The cost of repair could easily make it uneconomic as well. Its a very old laptop, in terms of laptop lifetime.

The Dell support page is here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pblan/ if its of any use, but in reality it probably isn't.

Trying to diagnose such a fault remotely is going to be guesswork. My guess is that it's munted.

You can download what you need direct from Nvidia. Click THIS LINK and download and install the drivers you need.

Just make sure you know the exact name of your graphics card and the type of Operating System you have so you get the right one

A:Dell Inspiron 530 problem need help Video inc....

I suspect you have some incompatible components, but I couldn't make out exactly what you have regarding motherboard, CPU, and RAM.  I believe I heard 4 beeps in your video.  Those are a code, but they vary according to the BIOS you have which again, I didn't see any indication of what that is.  The video was very dark inside the covers so I was able to make out little to none of what you were trying to show unfortunately.

that, "basevmbb32" is spelled incorrectly, I think. Find out the correct spelling for it, then I can do some research.

This Dell Inspiron 1100 (os xp pro, a 1gig cpu around 1gig of main memory and a 250gb hard drive) is working but it offen will reboot it self, prog's lockup and shut down and both Firefox and Internet Explorer will crash and shut down. I need to fig out why it crashes and reboots it self. I have a spare 1100 laptop that I can take spare parts off of. The motherboard in the 2nd laptop is dead. I know it is an old laptop but this is what I have to work with in a portable setup to take with me until I can afford to replace it with a newer laptop.

A:Problem with Dell inspiron 8100 on xp sp2

and welcome to the Forum

If you have the Dell System restore ( not all Dells do ) you can use that and you will not need a install CD

RouteTo

If not, You can get a reinstallation guide specific to your Dell here ( You will have to change the operating system to match yours.

Please help me:
I had 2x 2GB sticks of Apacer RAM, than I wanted to upgrade to 2x 4GB Crucial. But after booting  I had problem with noise and lines all over my screen...  I tried also 2+4GB mode, everything works fine, but Everest benchmark has shown not as good results as in 2x2GB mode. What should I do, to make it work with 8 GB of RAM?
My specs are: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, 263 BIOS, AMD Sempron 2000 MHz, 480 GB Kingston SSD, ATI Radeon Xpress 1150, latest possibe graphic card driver (10-2_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc)

I spilled water on my Dell Inspiron 6000 a while ago. Since then it will not completely power on. I have tried taking it apart and letting it dry for ~5 days then reassembling, but I continue to have the same problem. When I press the power button (or try Fn Power option) you can hear the fan kick in and all of the LED lights (Numlock, CAPLock, etc) flash on then off, then the NUMlock flashes 4 times brightly, then 6 times dimly, then you can hear the fan shut down and the system powers off. Does anyone know what this error code is? I know the hard drive is fine as I have tried it in another inspiron. I would be grateful for any suggestions or ideas. Thanks.

A:Dell Inspiron 600 Power On Problem

If the Dell was "On" when the water vwas spilled, then you likely have irrepairable motherboard damage. Try Dell for the codes?

I am having problems turning on my Dell laptop (Inspiron 600). When I press the power button, my computer clicks, the power light goes on, while the 3 lights to the left of the power button (numlock, capslock, and the other one) light up dimly. These lights go on for a few seconds, but the computer wont start.

I eventually get it going if I keep pressing the power button. I think the problem may be getting worse as it is taking more and more tries to get it started. This happens 9 out of 10 times after I shutdown, especially after it freezes up on me. Dell support has been very unhelpful, and I would appreciate any help at all. Thanx!

A:Dell Inspiron 5737 HDD Problem

You do need a new, 2.5" drive - 7 mm in height.  You can use any SATA notebook hard drive, solid state drive or hybrid drive you wish.
