I keep getting DNS errors when trying to use the internet on an iMac on my network. The DNS errors sort of come and go. RIght now it's fine, but 5 minutes ago it wasn't. It keeps happening. Now that I think of it, this iMac sometimes also has issues connecting to the internet. One second it's working, then suddenly browsing the internet just times out. Again, every other computer on the network would work fine though.
I'm behind a wrouter that's connected to a modem. How can I begin to figure out what's the issue?
Thanks in advance.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Which OS X are you using? Try flushing the DNS cache: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT5343http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/dns-error-on-one-computer-in-network.191162/

What should i do?
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc
Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:
Type the following command:
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Disable encryption and MAC Address filtering on the router and try to connect. Assuming success you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.
If unsuccessful make sure you have the latest driver for the wireless adapter. Make sure you have the latest firmware for the router; then reset the router to factory default settings and reconfigure it.
I have w10, running a static ip address through time warner cable in Ohio. Time warner said they had a problem on their end, ever since then I can't connect to our security cameras. I run a powerline from the house to the office., have reset my computer, modem and wireless router. Still getting the same error - one or more network protocols are missing from this computer. I don't know how to fix this. I tried talking w/ time warner cable - no go!
At least i am not the only person who has this problemhttp://www.tenforums.com/network-sharing/35400-one-more-network-protocols-missing-computer-error.html
On my Windows 7 Home Premium computer I have this problem. When I click a computer or NAS unit in the Network part in the Windows Explorer I just get an connection error dialog. If I try to connect via another machine (windows 7 Ultimate) I get a login dialog and have no problem connecting.
Both machines is on the same network using WORKGRUP. Both can connect the Internet and print to local printer.
The main problem is that I get no login dialog - just an error dialog. I can't find any way to manual edit this information.
Regards / Jimmy
Had this the other day with one of my Win7 boxes. You can manually enter login credentials for shares though control panel > user accounts and family safety > credential manager > Windows credentials > add a Windows credential.http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/207084-error-trying-connect-computer-via-network-windows-explorer.html
I have a small home network with a A)Win7 desktop, B)a Win7 laptop, and C)an XP desktop. I work primarily with A.
I did some network refiddling to replace a router. All seems to be working, but when I try to enable Network Discovery or File & Printer Sharing on A, they turn themselves right back off again.
Investigating this, I am informed that the Computer Browser service must be running.
This service isn't running. Started, it stops itself after a minute or so, with no error or warning in the event viewer, just a calm notice that the service has stopped. No reason given.
Just about all of the help I can find involves some sort of error code. I was misled into firewall issues, but the firewall doesn't come into it until Network Discovery is turned on.
Can anybody spare me some light to solve this?
Usually just resetting winsock will fix this problem. At an elevated command prompt use the following commands one at a time, hit enter after each one.
netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)
Let me know if these commands have any effect on the problem you are seeing.
Everything was running smoothly last night and when I came back this morning, I found out that the way this computer accessed the internet was changed from wired to wireless. I promptly changed it back to wired and I am able to see every computer on the network via My Computer>Network but I am unable to access any of them as it is telling me that the network path was not found. Although, when I right click on the computer I am looking to access and select "Connect via Remote Desktop Connection" it patched me right through and I am able to see the desktop of the computer I am trying to access, which is the login screen for Windows Server 2003. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi and Welcome to Seven Forums,
Have you tried reverting it back to a point when the computer was able to access the shared resources in your network by using the System Restore?
What type of Anti-Virus or Security program do you have installed from the problematic computer?
Ok so have a Dell Inspiron laptop that is running on Windows XP and I am unable to connect to the internet This happened a little over a week ago suddenly and everything that I have tried has been unsuccessful I connect to the internet through an ethernet cable that plugs directly from the wall to my computer however I cannot get internet because my computer is telling me that a quot Network Cable is Unplugged quot when reads detecting cable, a network cable "network unplugged" error not Computer it clearly is still plugged in I have tried using different cables and in different rooms of my apartment and yet I still have the same problem My other roommates are not having any issues so this lead me to believe there is probably a problem with my computer My computer skills are on a basic general knowledge basis so I have no idea how to Computer not detecting a network cable, error reads "network cable unplugged" begin to attack this problem Strangely enough in my attempts to get on the internet I turned on my wireless connection which displays a full connection in the icon at the bottom of my screen at good or excellent quality yet when I open firefox or explorer the browsers I use I still have no internet I am not sure if this is an indicator of the same problem I am having or just a separate issues but I am in desperate need of help So please if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them nbsp

Hi Elijah, and welcome to the vista forums
I believe that this model router has a few compatibility problems with vista, check that the firmware in your device is the latest available
Have a look here for netgear's troubleshooter for this particular model ...

Hello. I am after some help regarding installing some software called Pensions Profiler on a clients computer.
Firstly the computer - Windows XP Pro, all windows updates installed.
Pensions Profiler - Installed on their server but installed on each pc. Everyone's pc is fine except one. They have a mapped network drive linking them to the pensions profiler section of the server.
When installing, it does not get very far before displaying the following error.
Pensions Profiler Installer Information
Error 1606. Could not access network location CMNet\Network Path\.
I have checked the Microsoft site but nothing comes back into relation with "CMNet\Network Path\." part of the error.
Look forward to reading some replies.
All registry has been checked in relation to similar problems on the Microsoft support website and all registry entries appear to be fine. Error message attached as a pdf.
If the installation file is an 'MSI' file (ie it uses the Microsoft Installer), this may help: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/msi1606.htm
I installed iogear bluetooth on my pc sometime last year but didn't use it but now I need it to communicate to my cell phone. When I inserted the adapter I get the error: network cable unplugged.

I have two computers which do this. One is running Windows 7 and the other is Vista Business.
I have researched this a bit but have not had any luck at all.
Have tried disabling offline files, adding formatdatabase registry key, disabling indexing, windows hotfixes, disabling antivirus, deleting the client side cache folder but no luck.
The AV is Kaspersky on each machine but doesn't seem to be the problem.

Are all the computers wired similarly? All run to the same router/switch?
You should check the cable of the problematic machine, try using ping to the router with 1400 byte packets. Also, boot up some CD Linux or equivalent and see what speeds you get from there - helps to rule out any problems with the operating system.
I saw another post that had the exact same problem I m having just that my problem is on a desktop We got wireless internet a few months ago and my desktop was working fine with it Have a wireless adapter for Wireless Losing Adapter Computer and Network Network Recognition the internet Then a few weeks ago the internet started randomly disconnecting from only my computer I thought it was a network problem But then I hit something and the internet was working fine again for a few weeks Now it s Computer Losing Wireless Network Adapter and Network Recognition on the fritz Computer Losing Wireless Network Adapter and Network Recognition again starting yesterday When I try disconnecting and then reconnecting to the network it will tell me that there were no networks to connect to And when I unplug the adapter and plug it back in to the usb ports it ll tell me that my computer can t recognize the adapter that it s malfunctioning I ve tried the adapter in all the ports and it gives me the same message I have to restart my computer to get it to both recognize the adapter and the network so it ll connect again once it s restarted The internet will last for random periods of time When the internet goes out I get the yellow triangle error thing first on the network icon it doesn t just go right to there being nothing period and having the X symbol only after I try disconnecting from the network Sometimes all day then I ll leave the computer on over night and find the internet is out again on it in the morning Or it ll last for only a few minutes Sometimes the computer won t lose the network if I try disconnecting and reconnecting from the network It ll reconnect to the local network but when it s trying to find the network to connect to the internet it can t find it It ll say undiscovered network I thought maybe the adapter was faulty so I ve tried switching it with the adapter from another computer It still did the same thing with the other adapter And nothing is wrong with the adapter I was using it worked fine in the other computer when I put it in Both adapters are good When the usb ports stop working for the adapter it s only the adapter having problems Everything else still works fine I have no clue what the problem could be I never had any network internet problems when we had wired internet Here is the system info for my computer I really need help this is causing me heart attacks x x I really don t understand much about computers so if any help could be explained really simply and in a lot of detail so I can understand I d really appreciate it Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version OS Version Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack bit Processor AMD Phenom tm Quad-Core Processor x Family Model Stepping Processor Count RAM Mb Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTS Mb Hard Drives C Total - MB Free - MB D Total - MB Free - MB E Total - MB Free - MB K Total - MB Free - MB Motherboard ECS Nettle Antivirus AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition Updated and Enabled nbsp

I assume you're trying to connect over wifi?
Did you make sure and install the latest drivers for your wifi card, from the wireless card manufacturer's website?
What OS are you running?
Open the Network Adapters window, and right click your wifi adapter -> Properties -> Post the contents of the "This connection uses the following items" list.
Hi everyone quick story to detail my exact problem though this thread showed the same problem with no working solution for me I installed Win on a separate partition use Win Ultimate x normally and was using it It worked fine I connected my iPhone to charge it when the phone automatically activated a tethering app This instantly switched my wired network connection to the USB connection which I immediately disabled As soon as I did that my wired connection my hard wire internet not the tethered iPhone connection stopped working and showed the network only as quot Unidentified network Thus the error Now I followed all of the instructions in the previously linked thread I even reformatted my hard drive to for Unidentified network home error Network no avail Microsoft support wants me to pay not gonna happen Furthermore I know it isn't a router or actual network issue because my desktop is the only machine with that problem My xbox was streaming TV over the same network when it all occurred and Unidentified Network error for home network it is doing so as I type this I switched the cables obviously rebooted multiple time the whole nine yards What makes it worse is every time I try to diagnose the problem Windows just tells me to reset my router I even tried that but obviously it didn't work After every reboot my IP changes back to a address Every time I manually set it no change It seems like no matter what I do it won't get fixed The only thing Microsoft support said I should do is search for updated drivers for my NIC This shouldn't be necessary since I reformatted once before and I didn't need to update my drivers to access the internet I'm about a day away from just scrapping the whole thing for parts Any help is greatly appreciated
It sounds like your machine is having a hard time picking up the router. The 169 address is what you get when the router isn't being picked up by the machine. It's like a generic IP that Msoft uses when nothing is available.
You also take your chances plugging anything Apple into a Windows PC, seems to be when the problem started. That is what the entire Bonjour fiasco is about.
Have you tried updating the firmware on your router because something doesn't seem right there.
Updating the drivers might also be good advice. You haven't listed any system specs so I can't do that for you.
If all else fails you could try typing your default gateway from your router into your IPv4 settings window. The link below shows you how.
I have a customer that is running Vista Home she setup a wireless network at her house and it sees the router and it has good signal but when you go to connect to it it tries for about 2 to 3 seconds the gives the error that the network is marked as a "hidden" network and or is not in range any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. brought back to my office and it connected fine and she has a laptop right next to it that is on just fine, and the network is broadcasting the ssid
Did you try to re set up the network again at her house? I would delete all the settings and start from scratch.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/140949/the-network-is-marked-as-a-hidden-network-error/

Hello there; My windows 7 computer was connected to my home's wireless network yesterday perfectly normally. I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. It labels the network as an "unidentified network". If you do know how to fix this problem, please let me know; I will be forever in your debt.
Ipconfig /release tells me "The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation." Despite having run CMD as an administrator.
You just need to re-identify the network with windows.
Last time you may have checked the bx at the bottom by mistake.
plz write back quickly
Do you have a router?
Right click your Network Connection > Properties > highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the window that loads. The option will be available in there to automatically assign IP address.

Hello I recently switched out unexpected 0x8007003B: error occurred network Error An an older Netgear router for the Netgear WNDR I have a TB WD MyBookWorld connected Error 0x8007003B: An unexpected network error occurred via ethernet to the router Ever since the router switch I have been having two specifice issues While uploading videos to Facebook the video will upload Error 0x8007003B: An unexpected network error occurred anywhere from several MB up to over MB then stall saying it's still uploading but trust me it isn't I can copy files folders from the networked hard drive to my computer flawlessly but when I try to copy files folders from my computer to the networked hard drive it copies anywhere from a few seconds to maybe a couple minutes then stalls out giving the error message quot Network Error There was a problem accessing SERVER FOLDER Make sure you are connected to the network and try again quot with Retry Skip and Cancel When cancel is pressed it gives quot An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file If you continue to receive this error you can use the error code to search for help with this problem Error x B An unexpected network error occurred Other useful information on the new router the WNDR if I use WEP security I can copy files folders to the hard drive no problem However if I try to use WPA WPA the abovementioned problems occur I would use WEP and just forget the hassle but WPA is much faster and more secure so I really want to get this fixed I also believe the two problems are somehow related considering they both involve working for a few seconds to a few minutes then stalling and failing Could this be somekind of authentication or something to do with WPA WPA that I'm doing wrong Any help suggestions SOLUTIONS are very appreciated as this has been on my nerves like crazy Thank you
Hmmmm, Tough Problem.
One of the things it could be is a loose connection, and it keeps on dropping out. Try checking all of your Patch (Ethernet) Cables and reconnecting them all.
As you can copy the files on WEP, it seems like windows is preventing a so called 'Hacker' (You) from copying a 'Virus' (Files) onto the HD. Try to edit the security settings yourself, edit the sharing options in the HD's properties and that might fix it...
Sorry about the long wait.
I have been receiving this error message for the last two weeks while trying to transfer files from a network drive into my laptop. I have a 3TB WD My Book Live connected to my home network through a netgear DGN2000 router. I also use it to stream videos
to a smart tv.
I didn't have any problem ever since I connected it the first time. However, it has started showing up this error message now. I can't copy or move files either way. I tried a number of options, such as reset my router, shut down and reconnected the network
drive but none seem to have worked now. Now, I can't stream videos. Also, I am not able to upgrade the firmware of the network drive.
Any help please.
Do you have some anti-virus software installed and set to scan network drive, temporarily disable it, check if that is the cause.
I also suggest you update the firmware of your router.
Please alos share more information in event viewer with us as mentioned by ZigZag31343x
Meanwhile you can contact the support of My Book Live

I have to computers on my home network. One laptop (dell) and one PC (custom build). I have XP home with SP2 and AVG 7.1 antivirus on both. I have run the network setup on both computers several times to no avail. They are connected through a linksys cable router.
The internet works fine on both and i can ping the computers from the other without a problem. When i try to connect via run->\\12.345.67.8 i get an error saying path not found. They are on the same workgroup, and windows firewall is off on both comuters
help please. I recently formated by PC and put all my music on the laptop and i want it back on the PC
ive got a d-link router that does the same thing. if you've got a crossover network cable, i suggest just connecting the two computers directly. gave up on home networking a while ago. good luck
When I plug in the ethernet cable (which works to get me online with my other laptop) I am unable to access the web and the reason is that the network did not assign a network id to the pc.
I went to start-run-cmd-ipconfig and it said that my ip address and sbnet mask were both 0.0.0.0. there was no value beside default gateway.
Help! It used to work.
A few questions.
What is your ISP and type of connection? DSL, cable, satellite, etc
What make/model modem?
What make/model router if you use one?
If your ISP is a cable company and you have a single port modem, they may be using MAC authentication of the device hooked to the modem. Since the MAC numbers of the laptops are different the modem will only work with one computer.
To use a second computer you would need to turn off tand disconnect the first computer, then turn off the modem and let it sit about 2 minutes to reset. Some newer modems have a battery backup and you would instead use the reset button on the back of the modem. After allowing the modem to reset connect the second computer and turn it on. You will need to do this every time you switch computers.
Just installed a new network card on hubbies computer It gets him on the internet OK but now I can t find him on our home network before adding the new card the reverse was the case We replaced the card because it kept dropping the driver so we figured it must be new on can't network Computer w/ be seen network card on its way out Problem we have is that HP has their card built into the motherboard in a little silver box that also contains the USB plugs sounds like the kind Computer w/ new network card can't be seen on network of crap Packard Bell used to pull making it impossible to do some upgrades We installed the card and at first it wouldn t connect at all the original Realtek kept connecting when the computer booted We then added the little WOL cable guess it s some sort of jumper cable Belkin includes - not always needed the instructions say Well after adding the cable the Realtek still boots on starting the machine but now he can get Computer w/ new network card can't be seen on network onto the internet with Computer w/ new network card can't be seen on network no trouble Tried disabling the Realtek but then nothing works Anyway around this so we can access his machine on our network There are a couple of programs that came with that machine I would like to have access to nbsp
Since it sees the network I would start off not worrying about anything else on the card as its obvious it is working.
First off I would do 2 things-
1) Go into the bios and disable the onboard ethernet controller. If its bad then really its just trying to use an onboard resource that by disabling it you can free up.
2) If the WOL part has a place to hook it to on the MB leave it in place but remember that 99.9% percent of the home users will NEVER use this functionality and that little cable won't ever come into play as being a problem component usually. This WOL (or Wake On LAN) is a way to remotely turn on the PC over a LAN and is usually for network administrators at large companies.
When you say you can't find his PC I am assuming you mean in network neighborhood right? If this is the case have you tried pinging from one PC to the other? Have you tried pinging by both machine name and IP? What are the results from doing that?

We are adding an XP computer to a peer to peer network with Vista machines. The Vista machines can see the XP machine in the network but when clicking to get to share files, message comes up Windows cannot access \\XPcomputer. The message adds that there may be a spelling error or that there may be a problem with the network. But the error message is the one listed in the subject of this email.
XP machine is properly set to share folders and there is no other visible proble. There is no message from the antivirus software so I am assuming the address is within the Antivirus acceptable range. Antivirus is Norton 360.
Any suggestions...very frustrating... thank you
The problem turned out to be in the Norton Antivirus on the XP machine. No need to mess with the NetBIOS in this case.
Thank you both for your assistance.
My husband and I have a home network set up with two laptops. His is a Dell Inspiron 8100 and mine is a Dell Inspiron XPS. I run Windows XP Pro and his runs Windows XP Home.
Router is a Lynksys WRT400N Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router
Modem is a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem
We upgraded our modem & router a few months ago and haven't been able to get the 8100 to see the XPS, however the XPS can see the 8100. Before the upgrade both computers could communicate just fine and we were able to get into each others "My Documents" folders. I'm sure it's probably something simple, but have no idea how to fix this. We need to get it resolved quickly because we store all of our college documents on my computer, and my husband needs to be able to access them. Classes start on Tuesday! HELP!

Hello youngwill and welcome to Bleeping Computer.
My name is Satchfan and I would be glad to help you with your computer problem. Please read the following guidelines which will help to make cleaning your machine easier:
please follow all instructions in the order posted
please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear
all logs/reports, etc. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In Notepad click Format, uncheck Word wrap if it is checked
if you don't understand something, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification before proceeding
the fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
please reply within 3 days. If you do not reply within this period I will post a reminder but topics with no reply in 4 days will be closed!
Please DO NOT install/uninstall any programs unless asked to.
Please DO NOT run any scans other than those requested
===================================================Note: Please carry out these instructions in the order given.
===================================================Reset the Router
Let’s try to reset the router to its default configuration.
this can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labelled "reset" located on the back of the router.
press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds).
if you don’t know the router's default password, you can look it up. here
you also need to reconfigure any security settings you had in place prior to the reset.
you may also need to consult with your Internet service provider to find out which DNS servers your network should be using.
Note: After resetting your router, it is important to set a non-default password, and if possible, username, on the router. This will assist in eliminating the possibility of the router being hijacked again.Flush the DNS
Now lets flush the DNS on the computer:
hold down your Windows key and press R
a “run” window will appear
type in cmd and press Enter
a black window will open
please enter the following text into that window and then press Enter:
Note There is a space after “ipconfig” and before the forward slash.
===================================================Download and run AdwCleaner
Download AdwCleaner from here and save it to your desktop.
when it has finished, select Clean
if it asks to reboot, allow the reboot
on reboot a log will be produced; please attach the content of the log to your next reply.
===================================================Download and run Junkware Removal Tool Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
the tool will open and start scanning your system
please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications
on completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open
post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
===================================================Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Please run FRST again and post the new log plus the Addition.txt log which was also produced with the first run of FRST.Logs to include with next post:AdwCleaner log
On my Windows 7 laptop, I have created a wireless ad hoc (computer-to-computer) network, but I couldn't detect it from my Windows 8.1 phone. I created another one on my friend's laptop, but neither myself, her nor another friend of us
were able to detect it from their Android phones and my Windows phone.
How can I get it working successfully?
Additional info: I haven't received any error on both laptops. I have admin rights. I'm connected to the internet wire. WLAN AutoConfig service is automatic and started.
Hi Seaoar ,
We may misunderstand the ad-hoc feature ,it only supports the computer to computer .Here is a link for reference :
Set up a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network
To create a wifi and connect the phone ,we may need to take the steps according to the link I have posted in my third answer. It is used to create a virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter .
MeipoXu, I appreciate your concern and let me correct you.
In the 1st link it says "An ad hoc network is a temporary connection between computers and devices used for a specific purpose". So it should not be only computers. Plus Iphone connects to it why not Windows phone?
2nd, why do you insist to post me a line about Android? I only tried connecting my friends' Android devices for tesing purposes. My own phone is Windows.
3rd I found a way to create a connection from cmd and it worked successfully without any problem. here is the command:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=<network name> key=<passkey>
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
I hope other will benefit from my discovery.
Problem resolves, restarting server or user comp with this problem. But Net view "ip of my server", show acess denied, error 5, still remains. I want to fix this error at all.https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2a681979-f66d-419b-9980-ced3f8638152/sometime-i-cant-enter-in-network-neighborhood-with-error-0x80070035-net-view-quotip-of-my?forum=w8itpronetworking
About 1 week ago. I was playing an mmo, but then I got this message on my screen (network error), it became more frequent so I used game booster to see if it will stop the problem. It did not. So I tried searching my problem on google chrome and ie 8 and got another message error 105: the server could not be found and now every time I use either browser the speed is irritably slow with a few pauses in between until error 105 pops up. I checked my sisters pc and hers is fine, it is not even connected to any network and reliably fast with the exception of no graphic cards 3.0 or higher installed. Hers is a win7 32 bit while mine is a win7 64 bit. So then I saw tech support forums on a google search and signed up hoping this could help me with my dilemma and any others I might come across.
Are you connected wireless or by Ethernet cable? Are you going through a router or directly to the modem? Try restarting everything (Modem, Router, Computer) if through a cable, use a different one. Try speedtest to test your internet speed.
I have had my vista pc and my windows basic net book setup to message: "Error network code: file No help error shareing 0x80070035". let me share files through network error message: "Error code: 0x80070035". Welcome to SF,
Firewall might be the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone".
On some Firewalls or Security Software you might need to completely uninstall them.
First let me say that I'm horrible with computers. I'm just very CPU ignorant.
That being said here's my problem:
My Dell inspiron mini will show my network and show that it has excellent signal strength. But then it also says limited or no connectivity.
It also gives me this:
network did not assign a network address to the computer
Don't know what to do. I've already tried this:
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock
None of that worked. What is my next step to fixing my problem?
Thanks a heap
My Windows XP laptop was connected to the internet via erthernet cable to a Linksky modem (I've been using my grandparent's internet). Up until a week ago, that's worked fine. But suddenly it's stopped working, and whenever I try to connect I get this:
"Limited or no connectivity
You might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. This problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to he computer."
Could anyone please help me?
ETA: I am completely illiterate when it comes to computers, so details might be necessary. Thanks!
What non-Windows firewall or security suite do you have?
Try the following repairs first ...
(From a JohnWill post)
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 or SP3.
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log
Reboot the machine.
My sis's computer connects to the Internet via the phone line. Dial-up. Just a few days ago she started getting an error. She clicks on her internet provider icon, it shows that it dials in and connects via her password, etc. It does not bring up the browser however but just a small piece at the top to connect to email or web etc. When we try to click onto one of those it pops up with an error that a network cable is unplugged and closes the connection. Only then it freezes the connection and we have to reboot. If you use dial-up you don't have a network connection do you? She has a Compaq computer with Windows XP and uses netzero internet. Thank you
can you try to disable the local area connection..
go to start>control panel>make sure its in classic view(can be found on the upper left hand side.)>network connection>local area connection>right click>disable.
then reboot the PC and try to connect again. see what happens.
I had a network set up when all my computers were XP's. When I got a vista computer, I am unable to network this one with the XP's. Is there some link that I can go to to see what needs to be done. I have gotten different answer from so called experts. Some say that it can not be done and others say it can.
I can not find any computer in my network from mine.
We turned on my son laptop and mine, we synchronize time and everything. Since his computer he can see my computer.
He has windows vista and i have windows 7.
I don't know what to do.
Troubleshooting says is a network-related issue. I don't get it...
Someone could help?

Could be firewall, av, or other settings can we get your system specs and network setup?
this is probably a stupid question, but I have two PCs in my home connected by wireless router (Dlink 524) from a cable modem. Both running XP home, occasionally at the networked PC(does not have the router), when I look at the available networks, I see my secured network but also sometimes see one called default and says unsecured computer to computer network. Is this a normal thing to see? It worries me b/c it says unsecured. It also shows the same signal strength which makes me think its also related to my wireless network.
I am using a Dell Latitude Model D630 with Windows XP.
I am trying to set up a Wireless Computer-To-Computer (ad hoc Network) and have a problem in doing so.
In setting this up I:
1. Go to Network Connections
2. Right Click on Wireless Network
3. Click on Properties
4. At the top of the next screen it has two tabs: "General" and "Advanced"
5. The Problem I have is that there should also be a tab that says: "Network Connections" but this tab is missing.
Any assistance would be appreciated including if anyone has a link to clear step by step instructions on how to set up a wireless computer-to-computer ad hoc network.
On mine it says 'General' 'Wireless Networks' and 'Advanced', could Wireless Networks be the correct one and a mis-type on your instructions?http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/340927/wireless-computer-to-computer-ad-hoc-network/
How do I network a vista computer to an XP computer using hard wired router?
Dear friends i am Query about network ad hoc computer computer to trying to setup an ad hoc network between my two laptops one running windows xp sp and another running windows I am trying to share my internet connection running through a dongle I have been successful in doing this but my query is that is it necessary to have the second pc trying to connect to the ad hoc network in order to get both the machines Query about ad hoc computer to computer network connected to the network What i have noticed is that if i Query about ad hoc computer to computer network try to connect the host alone to the ad hoc network it gives up trying after some time and shows the pc as not connected I have recently formatted my host pc and before doing that i remember that a few months back i was able to get the host alone connected to the network without any other device requesting to connect Also at that time i did not had to configure the client ip address this time around i had to do that Also this time on my host computer in the internet sharing settings i had to select http requests to allow the client to share http requests I had never done that before I have always used windows to configure wireless networks instead of broadcom utility My host is around year old and in the beginning it was using broadcom utility for wireless networks which i had stopped using before the first time i had set up an ad hoc network so my doubt is that may be the broadcom utility had already over ridden some system settings due to which i could get host alone to connect to ad hoc network although i was not using the broadcom utility to set up the network Please throw some light nbsp
Ok friends, just forget my previous post, it doesn't matter as long as the network works fine.
Just one more problem, my host is on windows xp sp3 and my client is on windows 7, the problem is that if i enable WEP security for the ad hoc network, the client is unable to share the internet. If i disable it, the client is able to access internet. What could be the problem?

Recently I restored my computer to windows 7 after using Windows 8 for a short period of time provided by my university. I don't think the story as to why I went back is very necessary so I'll skip it and get onto my problem.
Upon returning to Win7, I began to get some errors, namely my computer would BSOD every time that it went to "sleep". Additionally, on boot-up, the bios would give me the option to boot in Win8.1, even though I had removed it.
I'm trying to solve the BSOD issue, however I think that the two are related. I have attached the minidump folders and sysinfo in a .zip. I was trying to resolve this on my own - however my understanding of hardware and software is obviously not advanced enough to do so.
The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.
Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.
Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.
Dont run any disc cleanup program before you upload another zip.
What is wrong whit my Windows Vista?
I use a Toshiba Satelite L300

I have a desktop and a laptop, both running windows 7 pro.i created a homegroup, with the exact same homegroup name.i shared the folders i wanted to see on the desktop and the same on the laptop,i can see the folders, but when i try to access them from both computers,i get the same error...
windows cannot access\\XXXX\users\XXXX-check the spelling of the name.otherwisethere might be a problem with your network.
i checked the spelling and everything seems to be spelled correctly.not sure where to go from here.
What antivirus software are you using?http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/122986-network-error-please-help.html
When I go to a site and log on to listen to a sports game it goes to Windows Media Player. It says connecting to media... stays on for a little while then says Network error.
There is no number for the error. We have been able to get this before but have had some computer problems that might have caused the error. Can you suggest anything. I have tried going to the Microsoft page and tried all of that.
I have a 2 computers on a network without any router , both running windows xp and both connected by the normal networking cable (dont know the name).I can share files from the laptop but when i try to share from the desktop pc it always says
"An error occured while sharing ... The server service has not started .The shared resource was not created at this time "Please help im very new to networking
The server service fails to start for some reason. Go to Administrative Tools->Services and try to start the server service manually. If it fails, read the error messages and also look in the Event Viewer.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Recently my computer has been freezing up; i can't do anything, i have to turn the computer off then back on. When it comes back on it says "resource conflict Error PCI network controller in slot 4" Also my internet keeps going out, but then comes back on. I've searched and destroyed all viruses but it still freezes. PLease help, this is really becoming annoying. Also my montior turned to a green haze, still worked, but I got headaches from looking at it, i dont' know if this could have something to do with it as well...thanks for your help
swap the card into another slot,if you don't have one free swap it with another one
as for the monitor it probably has a dry joint on one of the guns and needs resoldering,it is usually more economical to replace unless you have a friend who is a tv tech
for the freezing, get a can of air and blow the dust out of the computer especially from the fans and heatsinks
when i enter one website address it shown as network error (tcp Error) web : www.dishtv.in
i am working UAE.
many computer i checked all same result
hello again friends ! network error plagues me again this time it is, connect(): an attempt was made to access a socket in a wayforbiddenby it's access permissions winsock description:winsock 2.0 winsock stat running gift is not!
any help from you whiz kid woul be well and truly appreciated!Cheers!
I'm working with an Compaq/HP Microsoft notebook running a Windows Vista 32-bit operating system.
I've been getting a wireless Internet connection via a wireless range expander. For some odd reason, Vista will NOT CONNECT to the actual router, but it will connect through the expander.
I replaced the expander a couple of days ago, and my computer will not connect to it any better than it did to the actual router. I have all my IP and Network settings set to automatic, but something will not let Windows connect.
I have Linux installed on a separate partition on my hard drive, and Linux will connect just fine, so it's definitely a Windows issue.
Does anyone know what my problem is, or more importantly, how to fix it?

I set up a local wireless network and can't seem to see any user files on this particular server. (This is the main server that has the modem directly connected in it.)
I can't also seem to access laptops' files, as the error attached comes up. On the contrary, laptops can access all user files, except the particular server one's.
