MS wireless mouse kinda jerky

Q: MS wireless mouse kinda jerky

About 2 weeks ago the batteries died in it so I used a USB mouse till I could replace the batteries.
Replaced the batteries, removed the USB mouse & now MS wireless mouse is acting "sticky".
I was forced to go back to my USB mouse.
I've been in the Mouse settings & have done everything but reset the settings.
I've been told optical mouses(mice) need a highly reflective surface so I was using a blank sheet of notebook paper which didn't help much. My USB mouse works fine on the wood colored desk, but the MS optical mouse won't.
I even used a Q-tip to clean the optical area of it, still no joy.
Any suggestion?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Its still jerky after resetting it to default setting's, so I'm back using a corded optical mouse in hopes of finding a solution.

*EDIT*ABSOLUTELY the most bizarre situation I've ever see. I've removed one of the two batteries in the mouse & so far it has improved considerably. Talk about being confused. How can this be ???

Hi,

This problem relates to my wireless mouse.

Every so often while using my mouse the mouse becomes really laggy, slow and jerky. This lasts for about 15 seconds before things go back to normal again. It's as if the PC is processing something with is memory intensive for that period of time.
Does anyone know what is happening here and how I could diagnose/resolve the problem.

Regards,

C h r e d g e.

Try keeping a Task Manager window open to see which program is using the most CPU. I don't think it is a memory issue. You can sort the Processes tab by CPU usage, just click on the column header.

I have had some experience with jerky mice caused by the surface you are using the mouse on. Try putting something with a texture and variegation under the mouse and see if it makes a difference.

****ONLY FOR WINDOWS XP USERS****

I found out that you can run Windows XP FPS games faster by changing the binary numbers of SmoothMouseXCurve and SmoothMouseYCurve for the mouse. I did that, but I didn't see a diference. When I quit the game, the mouse started to jerk around when I move it fast. Can anybody give me their binary number for these so I can fix it.

To get to it: Start-->Run-->regedit-->click "+" on "HKEY_CURRENT_USER"-->click "+" on "Control Panel"--> then click folder "Mouse"

It is found on the bottom. Right click the SmoothMouseXCurve and click "Modify Binary Data". There should be 8 rows of 2 pair numbers and letters, put it down. And do the same for SmoothMouseXCurve. Post it on here.

navigating using the mouse is erratic. It takes several clicks to make the selection stick. Happens in all scroll down listing, in high lighting texts, in spreadsheets, in opening browser windows, in MS word , etc. Is this a problem with the mouse? I'm using Windows 7.

I searched the forum for answers to my problem and came up with some things to check so here is my information. Mouse at times moves jerkily or not at all and then after the system appears to catch up, the mouse returns to normal. Task manager only shows a single item using CPU but it is using up to 99% most of the time. The item is "MaxBackServiceInt.exe". What is it? Can I disable it? I have a long list of other items listed but all of them indicate no CPU usage. Performance page shows my CPU at 100%.
Help please and thanks. Oh yeah, running Pentium 4, 2.52 GHz, 768 MB RAM. I have fooled around with virtual memory and currently have it set at recommended levels (1150MB initial and 2302 MB Max) for both my 60 GB Drive C and 100 GB Drive D.

Recently there was an update from windows on windows 8. A problem came about when i realised that everytime i spectate in a game or watch some TV series, the graphics starts to lag and becomes jerky. I thought it may be a problem with OS so i upgraded it to windows 10, but the problem still exists, some help needed here :/

A:Screen gets jerky when I don't move my mouse

Assuming all your drivers for your chipset, sound and graphics are the latest and up to date, and you also have a good internet connection, (a silly question in Singapore, I guess) is your power supply behaving properly?

Are the drivers Microsoft versions or from Asrock or Nvidia?

Are you using a browser to watch the video stream, or a dedicated app?

Are your power management settings optimised for multimedia playing?

Can you run, say, a live Linux disk and watch the same streamed programme without problems?

If it comes down to the browser, try using a different one - as well as the 2 Microsoft offerings: Edge or IE11- there's a plethora of Chrome-based browsers, and Mozilla (Firefox) based ones that may work better.

If you can get a dedicated app, it may work more smoothly.

Looks clean. Let's check one thing, and if that looks good, I will suggest you use the Startup Database here at BC to stop some of those programs running automatically at startup. You have a tremendous amount of programs automatically starting and that can seriously reduce the performance of your computer. Info on how to use the Startup Database can be found here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/33012/how-to-use-the-startup-database/Now, Download this tool to your desktop:http://www.uploads.ejvindh.net/rootchk.exeRun the program. After a short time a logfile will turn up. Copy the contents of the log into the thread.Notice: Some security-programs prevent the creation of dummy drivers with certain names. This may cause false positives. If the log of rootchk contains a lot of hidden drivers, you may want to turn of your security programs while rootchk is scanning (you should then unhook your network connection as well)

The machine is a Pentium III running XP with SP2, using Norton Anti Virus 2006 edition. Recently, I have encountered the mouse pointer operating erratically, making exaggerated moves and then, after a lot of intensive processor utilization for various tasks, the mouse pointer will slow down, moving it will result in "jumps." I am able to have computer control (it doesn't freeze up), so I close existing programs, reboot, and the mouse is fine until another extended session of use and the same thing happens. This seems to "build" from normal operation after the reboot, which eventually ends up in the mouse pointer not following the hand movement, but operating erratically. This is a normal serial mouse, the one which came with the computer, Microsoft brand. No new software has been added in almost 9 months. The problem began incrementally, about three months ago. Any suggestions?

Hi - I posted a hijack log under the same Topic Title a few days ago. The person who looked at it said I was clean and suggested I reduce the startup programs. I did this but still the problem persists. I have been watching the talk manager while running my browser (avant browser). I notice that when the computer is idel and using very little CPU and the browser is open every 30 seconds or so there is a "spike" up to 100%. On further investigation I discoverd that another avant.exe appeared briefly alongside the one showing. It then disappeared and the CPU usage returned to normal. When I am quicck I can end the process f this second avan.exe and it disappears but my browser remains open. Any suggestions as to what it might be and how to track it down? Thanks

A:Slow Computer...jerky Mouse

If your computer seems to be slow, read Slow Computer/Browser? Check here first; it may not be malware. There are reasons for slowness besides malware - i.e. disk fragmentation, disk errors, corrupt system files, too many startup programs, unnecessary services running, not enough RAM, dirty hardware components, etc. As your system gets older it becomes filled with more files/programs and has a natural tendency to slow down so cleaning and regular maintenance is essential. You can download and use Process Explorer or Glarysoft Process Manager to investigate all running processes and gather additional information to identify and resolve problems. These tools will show the process CPU usage, a description and its path location. If you right-click on the file in question and select properties, you will see more details about the file. The Process Explorer window shows two panes by default: the upper pane is always a process list and the bottom pane either shows the list of DLLs loaded into the process selected in the upper pane, or the list of operating system resource handles (files, Registry keys, synchronization objects) the process has open. In the menu at the top select View > Lower Pane View to change between DLLs and Handles.

Hiya Guys.

Bit of an annoying problem rather than a drastic calamity. Running 98SE in Virtual PC on an XP system gives me constant jerky mouse movement and whatever I`ve tried, I can`t smooth it out.

Using the embedded XP drivers, the USB mouse is perfect in the base XP system but as soon as I get to the desktop in 98, any mouse movement has a delay of a second or so and then suddenly catches up with itself which makes it difficult to do anything, especially play games.

I`ve tried various known-good PS2, USB and a couple of cordless mice, all giving the same result. I`ve dropped the acceleration in XP and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling in Device Manager but still can`t get around the problem.

Any ideas anyone ... ?

Recently, I installed Civilisation 3 and Age of Empires 3 on the same day. One of these made me upgrade to Direct X 10 or something similar.

I think it was since this day that my sound plays in a stuttering way and the mouse is periodically jerky, so I guess they are connected.

What might this be? A hardware conflict? Or could the upgrade to Direct X 10 be the problem? Can I uninstall Direct X 10?

This is driving me nuts!

Thanks,

If I'm on YouTube or IMDB watching a trailer -- ANY streaming video whatsoever in IE9, if I move the mouse at all, the video jerks. I've tried launching IE9 with no add-ons, safe mode, everything. This doesn't happen in latest Firefox or Chrome or Opera, ONLY IE9. I've tried with wired USB mouse AND wireless mouse with same results. CPU usage does go up to way higher than it does in FF or Chrome or Opera from mouse movements (40%-50%) but I don't think it should be so high as to cause jerky video playback (sound is not affected, by the way -- only video). Already have latest driver for my ATI graphics card so that can't be it.

What kind of display are you plugged into?
That sounds similar to what happens when you are using trumotion or some other lcd tv feature with a computer hooked up to it.
Of course that would only be the case if you had the system plugged into a tv.

I just got norton internet protection 09. When I open the user interface the cpu usage for norton fluctuates and spikes. when it does my mouse cursor movement is really choppy or jerky if you will. Everything is fine when I close the interface window and I couldn't find anyone else having the issue. Also from what I did read people were saying the cpu usage meter wasn't going above 5% and mine jumps all over the place. Mouse cursor moves fine when window is closed. I don't know if anyone has any thoughts maybe it's normal I don't know.

1.What Graphics card do you use?

A:Computer has severely slowed (mouse is now jerky) - possible MBR infection?

Hi,

I just wanted to check in to see if my post was somehow missed or overlooked - it looks like most people through 4/29 have been receiving help.  I'm not writing to whine, but rather, if this is something that you can't help with, it would be great to know so I can try a different path forward.

Thanks very much!

I got a wireless mouse Penguin Ambidextrous Vertical Mouse | Posturite. It is supposed to use generic windows 2.4 Ghz adapter. However, windows 7 is unable to find any drivers. The screenshot of device manager is appended. I tried various other ways e.g. take out other USB devices, reboot etc. I tried sfc /scannow . But the error persists. There is no usb.inf file in the C:\Windows . It works in Windows 8 machine but not in windows 7. other 2.4 Ghz mice work. The manufacturer says that they don't provide the drivers because the mouse uses generic drivers
Please advise what can be done.

Lately I have been having an annoying problem with my wireless mouse. For some reason the pointer will lag, and be very sluggish and jumpy. I've had this mouse on this computer for about a year and I've had no problem. Out of nowhere this problem is happening. I've tried re installing drivers with no luck. I tried uninstalling intellipoint and re-installing it, but when I tried I got the BSOD, and then it completely disabled my mouse and keyboard so I had to use wired peripherals to go in to safe mode and do a system restore. Now everything is working again, except my mouse is still jumpy.

Thanks for any help.

A:Annoying mouse lag - Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500

Erratic behaviour from wireless peripherals, especially keyboards and/or mice, particularly where they were working correctly before, generally points to a dying battery in the peripheral. Have you tried replacing it? If it is rechargeable, it may no longer be holding charge and will also need replacing.

I'm just wondering if there are any differences between the two. I have integrated bluetooth on my laptop, so I won't need a dongle for it. I also know bluetooth is slower than wireless usb, but does this have any effect for a mouse?

In terms of performance and accuracy, are there any advantages or disadvantages to either format? Why are bluetooth mice seemingly much less popular with manufacturers?

Thanks a bunch.

A:Any difference between a wireless usb mouse or a bluetooth mouse?

Here's some advantages and disadvantages

Distance
Bluetooth you can expect 30 feet distance from the EEE. Wireless IR you can expect from 4 to 6 feet.

Easy to setup and configure
You plug Wireless in and it just works. With Bluetooth , you have to use the command line to set things up, and you have to script it or else every time you boot you'll have to give it all the commands.

Ports
The Bluetooth wins this one. The wireless keyboard and mouse use a USB port and do not give you anything else. The Bluetooth adapter uses the same port, but also lets you connect Bluetooth stereo headphones, your mobile phone, etc.

It really depends on what your needs are. If your living room is 12 feet and you want to hook your EEE up to your PC and surf from your lazyboy at the other end of the room, infrared won't do it. If you want the keyboard in front of the standard EEE screen and just want a better one, then the wireless IR is fine.

Is there just no wireless mouse that is as responsive as wired? It seriously effects my gaming. I have gone through about 7 Logitech mouses and a gaming one with four adjustable dpis and my compac from 2001 beats them all. Please help me cut the cord. Here are some pics of the champion. Have you run Windows Updates and see if it offers a new driver.
The keyboard is very old. Just might be time for a new one. You could also go to Device Manager and select update driver for the keyboard.

I have 6 or 7 old keyboards. Also gave a few away. I have never wore one out. Just kept buying them looking for one I really liked.
Years later I found one I like.

I had to replace my keyboard after 3 1/2 yrs since the keys were sticking and the letters worn off. I bought the Microsoft Wireless Laser 6000 Mouse with the wireless keyboard. It works great with one problem. If I enable "allow this device to bring computer out of Standby" for either the mouse or the keyboard, the computer never goes into a full standby. The fan is always running and so are some other parts of the computer. If I dont configure the mouse or keyboard that way, the computer will go into regular and complete standby but will need to be turned on with the power button to bring it out of standby. The Receiver is USB so Im thinking the reason the computer doesnt completly power down is due to the receiver needing to be active. Is there a work around or do I just stick with using the power button?

I have a Logitech 450 wireless mouse that runs at 2.4Gigabit. I also have a Belkin wireless router that supports a desktop PC and a couple of laptops - that I think runs at the same frequency. Mouse works fine. When I am using the mouse, and one of the laptops tries to log in on the router, "sometimes" the router tries to assign the same IP address from an existing laptop to the new laptop and it errors out. If I stop using the wireless mouse, I never encounter this problem. Can the wireless mouse be causing the router problem? Or is this just a coincidence?

If I stop using the wireless mouse, I never encounter this problem. Can the wireless mouse be causing the router problem? Or is this just a coincidence? Click to expand...

I would change the channel the Router is using wirelessly
Log into the router - goto the wireless setup page
you should be able to change the channel used - try channel 1 or 6 or 11

see if that makes a difference

well assuming that your keyboard has been working fine before i would ask if it is the kind that installs drivers from usb or from disk. Surprisingly i have had both.

Please go to device manager. (Get there by right clicking on computer then clicking manage and than clicking device manager tab in left window.) On right window it will say Keyboards. Please expand that and tell me what it says.

Thanks

Hi,

Not if the wireless mouse uses a USB transceiver to receive the wireless signal. Does the mouse and transceiver look similar to that shown below?

A:Wireless Mouse without USB is this possible

I dont think this is possible as the antenna/receiver for the mouse has to be connected to your computer via a USB port.... if you are concerned about not having enough USB ports, you can add a USB hub for around $10.00...

Every time I put the USB into the port on my wireless mouse, Windows has to reinstall the driver. Is anyone else having this problem? I use the same type of mouse on my other laptop, which is running XP, and this has never been an issue.

It's a Logitech V450 laser mouse.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Recently bought a $10 mouse at a computer show. She no work! Red LED lights, but I switched batteries anyway. I plugged the transmitter into several USB ports or three different computers. No mouse pointer response in all cases. The blister packaged mouse did not come with any instructions, manufacturer's name or website. Only information is a label on the mouse which reads:

Wireless Optical Mouse
Tested to comply with FCC standards
for home or office use
Made in China

Well... it was blister packed and no useful information was visible from the outside so I guess I could expect a "pig in a poke".

I bought a Logitec M305 for about $15 and it works just fine.

I have the same problem. Two different mice. They work fine on another laptop. I have scanned using AVAST, Malwarebytes Anti-malware, Super Anti-Spyware, JRT Junk Removal Tool and Hijack this.
When I ran a clean reboot the mouse worked fine, but with all the services gone, I had not internet.
I started the services a few at a time until I got my internet back.
Everything seemed to work fine for about a day, and then I started getting the double clicks again.
Only now, when I scroll with the wheel, it will advance 2 or 3 lines and then jump back 3 or 4.
It is very irritating to say the least. It has to be a software conflict, but have no idea how to correct it.

try taping the reciver on to tne mouse for a better signal lol
or get a wireless logitech mouse and keyboard.

it is just that, the keyboard can work fine even with lots or static and other distortions

but a mouse needs a 100% clear signal to work smoothly

logitech wireless stuff doesnt have any of these problems

you could also make sure the reciver is not being blocked or covered by other objects.

You'll have to bear with me as I don't have a touch screen device and therefore don't use the on-screen keyboards, however do any of the following ways help?

1) Right click on the Taskbar at the bottom of the desktop, then go to Toolbars > Touch Keyboard. That will put an icon in the Taskbar, which you can click to toggle the on-screen keyboard.

2) From the start screen, type OSK, then click On-Screen Keyboard in the search results. This will launch an on-screen keyboard that will stay on screen until you close it.

So, since I have been having a little trouble using the trackpad on my fairly old laptop, I am looking for a good wireless mouse. It cannot be bluetooth, because I don't have it. I am looking for preferably a laser mouse, with a small receiver. I don't really have any kind of price range. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. Thanks.

Have you installed any drivers or software for your new input devices? You can check online via the device manager if the manufacturer didn't give you any disks. Do you have anything that could be causing interference with the wireless signal? I assume you have been into the Control Panel and adjusted all the properties to suit your working style.

I have MS Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 (came with keyboard). Keyboard works (sort of -- some keys require multiple presses) but the real problem is the mouse. The system recognized it briefly, but now it doesn't work at all. I've tried: three different sets of batteries; multiple attempts at reconnecting (press button on USB dongle and button on bottom of mouse); different USB ports for dongle; uninstall and reinstall Intellipoint 6.31; rearrange office to minimize interference. No success. MSKB (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321122/) suggests massive registry edits, but I'd like to know if there's a better (easier) solution. I do not have another computer to test it on. Compter is Dell Inspiron 530, WinXP SP3. Thanks!
