Q: Asus joins the FreeSync market with 1440p, 144 Hz IPS display

Up until this point, Asus has been solely focused on producing G-Sync monitors for the gamers out there with Nvidia graphics cards. However this is set to change, with the company preparing to release their first FreeSync monitor, the MG279Q. ...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thinking of making the big switch from years of AMD gaming rigs to INTEL.
Currently am using a crosshair v formula z mobo with an fx 8150 cpu, and was going for a maximus vii hero mobo with an i7 4790k cpu.

Is this a worthwhile upgrade?
Is the maximus mobo inferior to my formula v?
I know the intel cpu is vastly better than the amd, but would I see a big improvement in my gaming?
Would I be able to use my 16gb 1600mhz corsair vengeance ram?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

So, i tried to connect an external monitor and used Shortcut keys to change the display. I pressed fu + F1 or Fu + F2 or Fu + F3 or Fu + F4 up-to F12. But no result.
I couldn't check whether it's a Display or VGA card problem. IS there any other way to check it. in addition to these is there any other combination keys to Change the display to an external monitor. I'm unable to check whether i get login or not. if I can login then i can use Windows Key + P. Then i can select mode. But I'm Unable to anything here. Hello,

I have been using the same set up for just over a year now and yesterday my monitor (which is just a TV with a HDMI port) stopped receiving signal.

I can boot up the pc and get the BIOS, which I can go into and see everything fine, as well as the windows loading icon but when it would normally go to the log in screen I get nothing.

I can however plug in an extra monitor (an actual Samsung monitor) with a VGA cable and it all works fine and on top of that if I connect the TV at the same time it works perfectly fine as a second monitor.

However if I try to turn off the VGA monitor and just use the HDMI TV then I get no video signal again.

No idea how to get my main TV monitor working again. Totally stumped.

Main difference is that the Lenovo has Hybrid Memory with 8 GB SSD cache, but it only has 100 mb LAN network speed, compared to Asus' 1000 mb speed.

Until recently my laptop, an Asus Vivobook with an i5-processor, touchscreen and a 500 gig harddisk, worked just fine, no problems whatsoever. But when I started playing GuildWars 2 it developped a nervous 'tick'. Let me explain: of course the battery of my laptop doesn't last forever, so sometimes I have to plug it in while playing GW, and as soon as I do that the screen starts to black out randomly, as bad as sometimes every 3 seconds. It turns itself on again, and there's no loss of performance (at least not a noticeable one). It gets worse: when I stop playing it continues to flicker on and off. I know that it's not a heat problem, at least I don't think so. SpeedFan detects temperatures up to 67 degrees while playing, but that's it, my laptop should be able to handle that.

Can anyone help me?

I have uploaded a video of my laptop to better show the problem:

I am thinking something is wrong with a connection or some cable just don't know which. Never fixed a laptop. I broke the panel before I figured out the screws were hidden behind tiny black covers. Also broke the metallic part of the screen on the right side but I guess I will crazy glue it somehow. My most important issue is the flickering.

If anyone knows how to fix this issue please let me know I would really appreciate it.

At certain position the screen doesn't flicker, mostly if it's set back at a greater than 90 degree angle.

A:Laptop display flickers

It's sensible to check the connectors to the screen but unless you find a video of how to get inside your particular laptop and study it you are highly likely to break other pieces too. I worked out how to take mine apart thanks to Google but although I was careful I still broke a connector. Putting that right took me ages.

2) 1920 x 1080 - THANK F%^&ING GOD!! Stop offering me "gaming" laptops with 4k screens and GTX960M/970Ms that can't possibly drive them! I could use some advice. My second monitor just died, and I would like to find a replacement with a few specific features.

27 inch
Adjustable White Point
As low as possible wattage

As I understand it, having a white point that is adjustable separately from brightness and temperature controls provides a better way to dim the white without dimming other colors. If I am not understanding this right, please correct me. The reason for looking into this is because of my eyes being sensitive to light. If I could, I would replace all white that comes through my monitor with a light tan. That's how bad it is. So, if there is a way I can better adjust how bright the white is, I'll probably take it.

The low power I want for reduced heat. With two screens this size, heat is obviously a problem. So far, I have only found that reducing wattage will have a noticeable decrease in heat. If there is something else, feel free to clue me in.

Thanks all!

Hi everyone,

I seriously need some perspective. I've ordered an Overlord Tempest X270 OC 1440p monitor. I'm trying to decide between:

1. 2x XFX R9 290X (CrossFire)
2. 2x nVidia GTX 970 (MSI/Asus Strix) (SLI)
3. Single nVidia GTX 980 PNY XLR8 Pro OC

Other parts are:

EVGA 850 G2
Intel Core i5 4690K
Asus Maximus VII Hero
GSkill Trident 16GB
Intel 730 Series SSD (480 GB)
NZXT S340

Have been reading up a lot but am finding it hard to choose. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:GTX 970 SLI, Radeon 290X CF or Single GTX 980 for 1440p (120Hz)

Only the first two options will get you to 120 fps on any game made within the last few years. I have a machine with an i7 and 970 SLI and a machine with an i7 and an EVGA 980 Superclock and at 2560x1440 only the 970s can manage... and not all the time. Most of the time I set my monitor refresh to 100Hz because there's a much greater chance that my cards can get me there.

I don't have any AMD GPUs atm so can't say about that but I will say that I've had one hell of a time getting XFX to honor their warranties in the past.

A:Issue with an ASUS VK-248h Monitor Backlight

New theory: Bad capacitors... somewhere. Possibly power supply

After a day at work, observing some coworkers working on used LCD TVs (and working on one myself), I now understand quite a bit more about such things.

I had removed the display from my setup and left it on the floor for a few days. Today, I decided to try it again. The backlight started up perfectly fine, surprisingly. The ASUS screen showed for a couple seconds, then went off, as normal. Then, when it's supposed to activate the selected display input, it shows the screen for just long enough to get half a frame drawn, then goes completely black. Turning monitor off and on repeatedly, and trying different input methods, gave same result. I got it to work once, but at that time the backlight had gone too dim again.

I think now I might know how to fix it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to take the dang thing apart! Lol.

I bought a new drive only to rip my dvd collection and I choose a fast on at 16x, but to my surprise and disappointment I see that the drive is riplocked. I did a lot of research to check that it wasnt in fact riplocked but it is unfortunately.

I have read a lot of articles and done a lot of research to try to find out how to remove this riplock and I found out that the asus drive is actually a rebranded pioneer drive (bdr-206) and that this firmware should do the job BDR-206_FW106EU (found at files.rpc1.org) but when im running it I get a DOS window saying that the firmware has started but right after im getting an error message saying "Available target not found". The drive is connected by using usb 3.0 and its external.

Its now ripping at 2.5x instead of 16x because of the riplock.

A:Asus Xonar Phoebus and Asus Rampage 5 Extreme issue

The question(s) I have is ->
Am I missing anything when attempting to install the sound card? I have tried with no GPU drivers (including the Nvidia sound for the GTX 750 ti sc) / disabled onboard HD sound and still the sound card not detected.
Even in this motherboard, it should detect the sound card regardless of what sound source is set as default and then allow me to install it and set it as default (without messing about with the BIOS)?
Maybe my sound card has died when moving it from the last computer - Static death.....................
Thanks

So I recently picked up this monitor for some sweet 144hz gaming. Used it for a while at 144hz and it worked perfectly. Recently hooked up a second monitor and noticed a drop in frames. Went to check my advanced resolution settings and for some reason my monitor had defaulted to 60hz. When I tried to bump it back to 144hz I get this weird flickering/artifacting going on but it works great at 120 hz. I am using the dvi cable that came with the monitor and I'm running a gtx970 overclocked to 1430hz gpu and 7600 hz memory. I get this effect when I default my gpu to it's factory oc settings so I'm not sure what's going on here. Is it my gpu or do I need a new dvi?

Cheers

I came home one day to find that my monitor was no longer displaying my PC via HDMI. After a lot of testing, I've found that the monitor works with other PCs via HDMI, and my PC works with other monitors via HDMI, but they don't work together. All I get is a black screen. I know that my PC's resolution is set to one that my monitor can display. I've tried several different cables. I have absolutely no idea what the issue might be, and I'm pretty much at my wit's end here. Any ideas?

A:Strangest display problem I've ever had

Have you tried different projection modes? Windows will remember set profiles for specific monitors. It is possible the the projection mode was turned off for the monitor, and will stay that way until the mode is changed.

For Windows 7 press "Windows Key + P" to bring up the projection menu.

Hello,

I remote into my home PC from work using the Chrome Remote Desktop tool. It works well. The problem is the screen resolution. The monitor I use at work isn't the same as the one on my home PC. This causes the resolution to be a little blurry and images to be slightly small.

When I disabled my monitor completely at home, the resolution was clear and it worked well. I just unplugged the monitor from my PC. Is there a way to completely disable a monitors input without having to physically disconnect it from the PC? I've tried disabling it in the Device Manager and that didn't do the trick. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Speck

Using Sabrent USB-DH88 USB Display Adapter also

I have checked all drivers and windows shows they are up to date. Both displays were fine as of about 1 AM this morning, and to my knowledge no updates or downloads were done during this time.

Any help would be appreciated; I work from home and having dual monitors is almost critical.

A:2nd display black screen

Try changing cables first, by some chance the cable has gone bad.

Sounds like it could be a lighting issue within the monitor. If it is a backlight issue, the monitor will still be displaying an image. You will not be able to see the image without some kind of lighting. If you can use a flashlight to expose the image, you would at least know it is a backlighting issue. I've been able to use this technique on phones as well as monitors.

I have been looking around and cant find a cut and dry answer to my problem.

What I'm looking to do I set up 6 monitors on 2 gtx 980's. My question is if its possible to have 3 monitors running in landscape as well as 3d and the other 3 as separate workspaces. Or can you only get 3 total monitors to work with nvidia 3d. And it gets more complicated when SLI comes into the picture since I would like to maximize my cards. But correct me if I'm wrong, SLI essentially turns my 2 cards into 1 not allowing me to utalize all the video ports on the 2nd card. Meaning I won't even be able to accommodate 6 monitors? I may just have to do without SLI.

So again. 3 monitors in surround 3d. 3 monitors not inside the 3d or surround environment. Off of 2 Gtx 980's. Possible? If not is there a way to accomplish this with other hardware.

Thanks for your time. SF

A:Video issue with Asus Crosshair V and 560ti GPU

Let's do this one step at a time, first no part of any computer lasts for ever. U said u had 2 other video cards, first, see if either one of them will work. If that does not work, it could be the slot in the mother board, try an other X16 slot. but honestly to me it sounds like the mother board is not working if u have a speaker plugged into it and assuming the speaker is working because normally there would be beeps if the motherboard is not sending a video signal.

Hello,
I'm looking to build a relatively cheap gaming build. This will be my first build and I'm stuck between choosing either the maximus or the deluxe. Both are currently within my budget. I'm looking to mainly play starcraft, league, dota, hon and watch movies on this desktop. As I am not near a router, I cannot connect with ethernet so I need the onboard wifi. This is my current build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/daherr/saved/VsKscf

Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to keep the budget under 1k

Thanks

A:Asus maximus vi impact or z87i deluxe

Never had an Impact but on a formula right now and have had the Z87I deluxe I personally would say the Maximus is the better but I overclock my computers to the max and u can screw up any board doing that Processors are pretty forgiving if u do not burn it up and I say that get good cooling which is a requirement even for playing games if u live in a warm climate.
then I looked at u're part picker and would say get 16MGB of memory and get a hard drive for more storage, they are cheap.

I usually connect the vga cable from my monitor to the port on my gpu,but for some reason it doesn't display anything now.

I tried to locate the source of the problem by doing these

1) Connected the vga cable from my laptop to the monitor, and it displays the laptop's content just fine so the monitor/cable isn't the issue.

2)Connected the cable to the vga port on my samsung smart tv and to the slot on my gpu and my desktop boots and functions just fine.

3) I opened up my cpu cabinet and dusted the ram and the video card and put everything back in place but that didn't help either.

I don't have a DVI cable with me so I can't check if that works and I don't have another similar monitor either I can test it on other than my tv.

I would say that the video cable (ribbon cable) is bad based on what you have tried so far. This cable goes from the motherboard to the LCD display. Did you use the old inverter off the suspect Toshiba when you tried the compatible spare LCD panel?

First of all hello from a new user, I have a problem with my computer but I need help to nail it down to one part (I think it's the graphics card, but who am I to tell).
A friend of mine said people over here are very nice and competent so why not try to get help here.

Long story short, I played a game, Velvet Assassin, that is rather buggy (I.e. it didn't let me change the resolution to my native 1680x1050).
After some time the screen started flickering in complete white with some color bars here and there. I thought it was another bug on newer systems and changed the resolution; the problem seemed resolved.

Until my little brother started to play Forge of Empires, that little browser game, where the problem again occured at an even faster rate.

I hope you can help me, I made a short video of the issue, I know it's not of best quality, but maybe it helps.
Thank you in advance

Asus VS247H-P or AOC IPS i2367Fh? m not too tech-savvy so I could be wrong ASUS pros - slightly bigger inch - has a lot more reviews and slightly higher rating on amazon and suggested by many on the internet as a good low-budget monitor neutral - has an overall better look than AOC - ms response time not a big deal to me - I ve heard of good and bad things about the costumer service - mixed reviews about color quality cons - many complaints about defective pixels and apparently Asus does not cover them - many complaints about flimsy wobbly stand - some complaints about the monitor Which monitor should I buy? Asus VS247H-P or AOC IPS i2367Fh? having various types of screen Which monitor should I buy? Asus VS247H-P or AOC IPS i2367Fh? defects after some time - not an IPS panel - no integrated speakers AOC pros - IPS panel better image - slightly cheaper at the moment neutral - ms response time not a big deal to me - I know it isn t bezel-less I m not looking for a dual monitor setup so it doesn t matter to me however the black border does look a bit awkward - some people complain about the buttons being in an awkward place but that doesn t seem like a problem - the integrated speakers aren t that good - no VESA mount but it doesn t matter because I don t want one cons - there are some complaints about the stand being wobbly or uneven but not as much as ASUS - some complaints about half of the screen turning pink purple a bit worrisome since there are a number of people who had this problem - I have never heard of the AOC brand until my friend brought it up therefore I don t know the quality of their products or their costumer service As for me I m not a hardcore gamer but I do play a lot of games I don t know the color quality comparison of these two but I feel like the image quality is more important than the response time The many complaints about the Asus monitor gives me a lot of doubts whether to buy it or not despite its popularity but it seems like there have been no recent complaints perhaps because Asus got their together now But on the other hand I have not heard much about the AOC monitor so I m also unsure Any help would be very much appreciated an alternative would be fine too if it s in the price range nbsp

A:Which monitor should I buy? Asus VS247H-P or AOC IPS i2367Fh?

You outlined the pros and cons well . This is my opinion: go with the AOC since it has an IPS display (better colors), small bezels (allows for a better multi-monitor experience), is IPS + LED (the ASUS is only LED) and it has 2 HDMI inputs (vs 1 on the ASUS). The average reviews may be higher for the ASUS but the AOC seems like a more attractive option overall. This is just my opinion .

The H77 chipset does not allow you to alter CPU voltages. That can only be done on a Z77 motherboard/chipset.

I've been having a rather irritating problem with my NVIDIA graphics card. Ever since I installed the card, it has been outputting sound through the card instead of through my onboard audio. Since I do not want to purchase an HDMI to DVI cable to play sound through my monitor, I was wondering how to redirect the audio to play through my motherboard so I can hear sound again. I have tried resetting BIOS settings, reinstalling all drivers for sound card, motherboard, and gpu, and I have poked around 100's of forums, and tried everything. I'm even considering buying a different brand of card because this stupid thing has created so many problems.

A:How do I output sound through my ASUS Motherboard?

Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar. Select playback devices and see if you have an option other than HDMI. I have 4 HDMI ports in addition to Speakers and "Speakers" is the default device on my machine.

Hey,
I need a new headset and I am thinking of buying one of these 3: the Sennheiser 350SE, Beyerdynamic dt770 pro or the audio technika ATH-A700X. I am leaning towards the dt 770 pro, but I'm still unsure. The main problem is my Xonar DX which doesn't have built-in amp. The dt 770 requires 80 ohm or 250 ohm and the 350 se requires 150 ohm. So my question is: Can these headsets provide great quality with the no amp Xonar or do I need to buy a separate amp with it for max quality? Also, will the separate amp completely ignore the Xonar?
Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

P.S: I am open for suggestion of other headsets in the same price range (?150/ $200)

Hi, I currently have a Samsung P2450 and I love it (24"/1080p), is there a 1440p upgrade that won't break the bank?

A:Looking for a 1440p monitor upgrade

1440p is pretty hard not to break the bank still but I can offer a few suggestions:

27" QNIX 2560x1440p $349 (This contains a Samsung Panel inside 8ms response time)

27" Crossover 2560x1440p $329 (Has a better response time to the one above 6ms response time)

27" Yamakasi Catleap 2560x1440p $379 (6ms Response, this brand has some of the best reviews)

Name brands like Samsung and Acer cost a lot more, these get good reviews and are just fine for use. They all have decent reviews, yet the Yamakasi's from the newegg site always seems to have the most 5 star reviews and get good feedback. No matter what, your going to be limited in your choices in this area if you can pay a fortune lol. They are still in the Luxury price point range in my book until they hit below 300.

Hope this gives you an idea!

Hello! I'm having no luck with previous threads regarding this same question.

For starters, I just bought two new items for my computer so it's not entirely new, but quite the upgrade

Previous Specs:
PSU: 500w
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965
GPU: nVidia GeForce 660
MOBO: Biostar A880GZ
RAM: 8GB

New Specs
PSU: 500w
CPU: Intel Core i7-4820K
GPU: nVidia GeForce 660
MOBO: BIOSTAR TPOWER X79
RAM: 8GB

I boot it up and hear no beeping sounds all fans are running well. I believe I have everything in place. I can provide pictures if needed.

Thanks in advance!

I wanted to get more RAM for my older PC (CPU Q8400 on Asus P5P43TD PRO). The motherboards' specs say it works with 1600Mhz RAM so I bought 8GB of Kingston HyperX Blu (Kit 2x4GB), code KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX.

I already have the latest version of BIOS but it doesn't POST for the life of me (fans are working, black screen, no beeps). I tried inserting only one stick (tried all 4 slots). I tried both sticks in slots 1 and 3, both sticks in slots 2 and 4, still no luck.

When I put back my old RAM (2x2048 Kingston Value RAM) it works just fine. Everything in BIOS is set to AUTO. I tried increasing the RAM voltage to 1.65v as specified on the new sticks without success.

I'm sure the memory is fine but I just can't get it to work. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

A:Asus P5P43TD PRO doesn't POST with new HyperX 1600 RAM

You may need a BIOS update. CPU and Memory compatibility updates are common BIOS updates. Before you give up on the RAM modules, try updating your BIOS.

ASUS Support For P5P43TD PRO

Caution though, follow the instruction carefully. The updating can not be interrupted once started. It only takes a few minutes to complete, but any interruption can brick the motherboard if it is not equipped with a backup BIOS.

I just recently bought a motherboard I thought was completely dead (same symptoms as your board, no post). I never suspected the motherboard wouldn't recognize my i7 CPU. The tech guy had me use an i3 to flash the BIOS. Low and behold the BIOS update worked.

I've been working on this webcam issue of mine for about the past five hours now. I'm frustrated because I just installed a new one thinking my old one was perhaps defective. I've checked BIOS and haven't seen anything in reference to webcam, there's no imaging devices section in my Device Manager and I'm just completely confused as to what the heck is wrong.

I have an ASUS U56E laptop that randomly reboots when running anything, minesweeper, spider solitare, IE explorer. No bluescreen appears, the screen goes black and the machine reboots. If you win a spider solitare game and leave the fireworks running in background it does not reboot, but if you leave the fireworks running for a while as soon as you kill the fireworks it shuts down immediately. I have run temperate checks, memory check, full disk scan, and reloaded the machine from initial disks. I even brought it to Best Buy and their geek squad told me they tested it thouroughly by running a video streamer on it and it didn't shut down after 4 hours so there is nothing wrong with it. Hi;
I have this drive installed on my system. When I try to open the drive door (either by pressing the button on the drive, or clicking Eject in Explorer, the first time I do this, the door rarely opens. It makes two thumps, about 3 seconds apart, then nothing. When I press the button a second time, the drawer slides out without any problem.
This problem always occurs on the first attempt after the system has been powered up, or when I haven't accessed the drive for an hour or more. The problem never occurs when there is a disc in the drive.

I had the cover off the drive, and found that when the cover is off, the problem rarely occurs, but I am unable to find anything causing the trouble. The drive worked fine for several years before this began to happen.
In all other respects, the drive works perfectly.

Any ideas?

Thanks

OK, I know it's weird, but I need to run 32-bit XP SP3 on this board. Anyone know for sure if it will? Asus specs don't list XP but drivers seem abundant for it.

Thanks for any help !!!

A:Asus P9X79-E WS and 32-bit XP SP3 - Will They Work?

I can't make any promises, but I'd be highly inclined to think it would probably work, just from the fact that ASUS listed drivers on their website for Windows XP; if the board wasn't supported, wouldn't they simply not allow you to choose it as an OS selection when downloading drivers? Maybe when they omit XP from the supported OSs list, it's only because it's not fully supported, in terms of long-term updates, even though the OS works. Again this is just speculation, but I don't see a good reason why it wouldn't work.

I need forum recommendations on good reliable memory sticks, 4x4 GB or 8x2 GB (don't sure which is better). Mostly PC will be using for games and some audio recording.
Don't know which clock 1866 or 2400 (O.C.) for motherboard will be better.
Can somebody share his experience with me?

Thank you!

A:Memory advice for Asus Sabertooth X79 & I-7 3930

First, you should know that X79 is the first (and only) consumer platform with a quad channel memory controller. That means for maximum memory performance you must use at least 4 DIMMs, populating channels A, B, C, and D.
The Sabertooth X79 originally supported up to only 1866 MHz, but I see the QVL lists kits up to 2400. http://support.asus.com/QVL.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=SABERTOOTH X79&hashedid=RPOIwd0pKLoXnbFV
If you buy a kit on this list, it has already been tested to work with your board, at least at stock CPU speeds. If you overclock your CPU (and you should with that unlocked processor), some of the higher speed RAM may not boot. I believe you'll be safe buying a 2133 kit, even one that's not on the QVL. I'm running Kingston HyperX Beast 2400 in my Asus P8Z77-V & i5-3570K system with great results, and it's not on my QVL. If you do go for the 2400, you should pick one of the 4x4GB kits from your QVL for assured compatibility. If all those are hard to find (or too expensive), roll the dice and get the kit you want, but make sure it's a name brand like Corsair, Adata, G.Skill, Patriot, Kingston HyperX, Crucial, etc., as they have reputations to preserve and do lots of testing on all platforms.
Also, check out this recent thread about whether or not fast RAM is worth the money - http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191311

Unfortunately, that motherboard only has an AGP slot, so your videocard upgrade will be very limited.

Here is one of the cheaper units for AGP, but you must also ensure your case has adequate cooling (at least one case fan aside from the power supply fan is recommended) and also ensure you have a fairly beefy power supply (350 Watt or greater, 400W+ preferred).

Hey everyone I idle monitors display Dual PC after anything won't occasionally is ve been having a recent issue with my monitors and it s really been stumping me lately I recently acquired a nd Yamakasi x monitor from South Korea I love these things and while the monitors themselves are working quite well I ve been having an issue since I connected the nd one Occasionally maybe - of the time when the PC has been idle for long enough that Dual monitors occasionally won't display anything after PC is idle the monitors have turned off when I come back to the PC and move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard the monitors turn back on and I am promptly greeted with a black screen on both however it appears that there IS a signal as the monitors turn on and remain on however that signal is just a blank black screen I ve got both monitors beside each other and the one on the left side is plugged directly into the dual link DVI port on the back of my master in my crossfire configuration The right-side monitor is plugged into an active displayport to dual link DVI adapter which also requires a USB port for power When I notice this black screen effect I also notice a small thin blueish bar spanning the height of the right monitor at the far right side of the screen this bar looks about the same thickness as the side edge of an open window in Windows but I ve never been able to tell if that s what it is or not UPDATE Upon closer inspection of the quot blue bar quot I can now tell that it doesn t look quite the same as the Windows side edges of a window It does span the entire vertical length of the screen it s about - pixels wide fairly bright blue and the far left or right seems to be random as to which it is column of pixels is a brighter blue than the rest Also the line isn t QUITE at the far edge of the screen it s offset from the edge by about another - pixels When I get this black screen effect the mouse cursor will never appear and no matter what I do including pressing control-alt-delete nothing else will ever appear on the screen If I press the power button I can see and hear my PC doing the usual process that it does when Windows goes through a normal shut-down which is the current setting for the functionality of the power button and then it turns off like normal Upon restart the issue is gone of the time until the PC is left idle again except that the right-hand displayport adapter monitor is not recognized by Windows upon reboot until I unplug and replug it I m running Windows Professional and I just freshly reinstalled Windows on a blank solid state drive within the last two weeks It appears to me that Windows is still running just fine since it seems to shut down normally and it looks almost as though the black screen is a huge window that is stretched almost fully across my monitors with only the far right edge visible and without any way to interact with this window However I also wonder if it could be an issue with the dual link display port to DVI adapter because every single time upon restart of the PC after this issue occurs it only recognizes the left side monitor and won t recognize the right one until I unplug the adapter from the displayport and reinsert it Obviously I don t want to be unplugging and replugging my monitor on a daily basis so I m wondering if anyone has heard of a similar problem or what I could possibly do about this Thanks in advance everyone nbsp

A:Dual monitors occasionally won't display anything after PC is idle

Update: I've discovered that usually the problem can be solved by unplugging and replugging the displayport adapter while the PC is on, but only if the aforementioned "blue line" is present on the right-hand screen when I move the mouse. Yesterday, I had a similar issue except that instead of turning back on and detecting the PC's video signal which is just a black screen for both of them (with blue bar on the right one), the monitors (both of them) refused to even acknowledge that there was a signal coming to them at all and wouldn't even turn their backlights on or wake from sleep mode. Even when I hooked up 2 different monitors using standard DVI-D single link or dual link cables, I still could not get any video signal to output at all, to ANY monitor.

Turning my speakers on, I found that I could hear the Windows 8 "device connect" and "device disconnect" sounds when I unplugged or replugged either of my 27" monitors, but nothing at all was heard when attempting to switch to other monitors. This tells me that Windows IS detecting and seeing the monitors, but somehow the video signal is just not reinitializing properly after the computer turns the monitors off after idle time.

The only solutions I've got at the moment are to set Windows to NEVER turn my monitors off, or to shut down the PC every single time I'm done with it; neither of these solutions are particularly pleasing to me. Please let me know if anyone has any advice at all, even if it's just an idea that may or may not work out.

BTW my PC specs are:

2500K currently at stock settings
16 GB Patriot DDR3-1333
MSI Z68A-GD55 B3
2x Radeon HD 7950 also currently at stock settings
120 GB Vertex 3 (OS/main apps drive)

A:Asus Maximus V Extreme or Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7?

Neither, I don't think it's wise to spend $350+ on what is now a legacy socket for a few extra Mhz. If you really need the extra CPU power you should save up for Ivy Bridge E (or get a 3770K), and if you're just gaming the 3570K at 4.2Ghz is more than enough.

Please help. I have just purchased a HP Pavilion p62480ea desktop PC. This all worked fine out of the box.
I also purchased a Geforece GTX 650 Ti graphics card - when I put this in I'm getting no signal on my monitor - using HDMi and DVI cables. (I also installed a new 430w power supply)

When I take the graphics card out and go back to the GPU on the motherboard everything works fine.

I've read that going into the BIOS and turning off delete/uninstall the video driver in device manager>>>turn off computer>>>install the graphics card - has worked for others.
I've tried going into the BIOS but I'm getting no signal when I restart this way.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

A:No display after upgrading video card

Did you connect the six pin PCI-E power connector from the power supply to the graphics card?

A:Asus laptop won't turn on

I have one that when it boots up it has bad internal battery backup issue. ASUS had this for LED/LCD panel issue I found out. Got them to repair it for free.

Your issue sounds like MOBO is faulty. How long have you had this model. If you can you should send it back to ASUS and let them repair it. Otherwise you seem to tried everything which is the common steps to take is the battery take out. Rest it and etc..

Prior to all these issues what were you doing when it worked 100%?

A little a while ago I made a post here about my new PC which is the new Haswell platform and WiFi news leak from ASUS AC that among other things I bought ASUS PCI-AC WiFi AC news leak from ASUS WiFi ac card which was supposed to be a kick-a at Mbit s data rate That product turned out to be simply non-functional on any Haswell chipset and ASUS is rushing out an update on which there is no information on the internet yet so I wanted to post it here which came from an ASUS engineer According to that engineer ASUS is about to release PCI-AC WiFi ac card which will offer at least two things Rectify all issues for Haswell products Unconfirmed but looks WiFi AC news leak from ASUS like it will bump the speed to Mbit s in line with the other AC product they just released - RT AC- U I was advised to wait for about one month till it appears on amazon com and then ask for exchange to my AC that s currently sitting idle EDITED For any admin who reads it feel free to move this post over to the Networking section nbsp

Why does it not work with Haswell? That is quite odd.

Same as topic. Wondering if the Hero was worth the extra 50 bucks or so in terms of reliability, features, etc. Reliability is a big factor for me so if you think Hero is a bit more stable for the extra 50$ then please let me know. Thank you!

P.s. In case you were wondering I am building a gaming/video editing pc for around 1500 bucks

A:Asus Maximus VI Hero or Asus Z87-A LGA 1150

The Maximus VI Hero is no more stable than the Z87-A. The Maximus is more gamer oriented due to its overclocking features (which the Z87-A has, but not to that extent). If you can get a Z87 Sabertooth, that is probably the best in terms of reliability because it protects the components from dust.

Friend is giving me old server MB/CPUs/RAM, I know all in all it is kind of outdated but I would like a system to play around with and since it is free.... I would like to know what is a good compatible PSU for this motherboard.... I don't plan on doing more than 2 video cards... My friend told me best bet would be to get like 1000W which is fine, But I don't want to purchase one that won't be totally compatible with the board

Thanks in advance

You might want to list the motherboard and CPU you will be using. So someone can help you out.
